Was tagged by @wistfulcynic to share my writing process, fun! Tagging @abigailpents, @red-sky-in-mourning, @montygreen, @gayhoediaz, aaaaand....I think I've already seen all my writer mutals active on Tumblr tagged in this BUT if you have not been, please consider yourself tagged.

Do you write in order? I do. I have to. I will happily tell other people that if they're stuck, they should skip the scene and come back later, but when I try to do it, I fail. My brain just won't let me proceed with the next until I know exactly what happens in the moments leading up to it, because WHAT IF SCENE A INFLUENCES SCENE B? I do wish I could jump around, but I can't.

How fully formed does your writing come out the first try? Pretty damn finished. I may go back in and add some flourishes, but overall, I'd say it's about 95% there.

How many drafts do you go through? Depends if it's a one shot or something like WTDB. One shots usually it's first draft, possibly pass it off to a beta reader, revised draft, and then I do another round of editing once I upload to AO3 because I swear I always find new things to fix once I see it in a totally new format, bringing us to a total of three. WTBD? Depending on the chapter, but usually looking at five or six.

Tell me about your process. I've realized I have two non-negotiables. The first is music. Sometimes I don't have music on because I feel like I need to Focus and it turns out I just don't write anything. I created a writing playlist for WTDB that basically just became my writing playlist, period, because my brain now associates it with writing. Other non-negotiable is an outline. I need one. Even if it's just bullet points. Every time I try to pants it I just end up spinning my wheels until I give in and jot at least a few notes down.

Again, I'd say one shots are different than a longer piece like WTDB. One shot I come up with an idea, write down the gist of the idea and maybe key lines/details I want to include because my memory is shit and I WILL forget. Then I just open up the ole Google doc and get going. I'm a simple lady.

WTDB was a totally different ballgame. I used Scrivener for that, and I can't imagine writing something of that length without it. I had a tab for each character, as well as pages for key settings, descriptions, references, etc. before I officially started writing. Especially with the intro character background stories, I was often shimmying sections around, and Scrivener made it really easy to do that. Then I'd write a chapter, immediately send it off to @margotandthefox for a pulse check off "does this make sense, does this work, does anything stand out to you as off?" Get it back, make edits. Once I had a nice chonk together, I'd send off to @monksofthescrew to beta that entire section of chapters. I'd then do some initial revisions, then another round when it's actually time for the chapter to go up, and a final one on AO3. (Although with ch. 5 I skipped AO3 because I had already been looking at it so much and it was weirdly liberating.)

Also I'd be remiss if I didn't mention I'd be lost without @margotandthefox, who frequently lets me just throw half-baked ideas at her, sometimes via rambling text, sometimes rambling audio message, and work through areas when I'm stuck. Highly, highly recommend you get a friend like that. 💕

Only other note I thought I'd share is I read my writing out loud as I edit, which was a trick I learned from my days as a writing tutor. And when I read along in my head, the voice narrating WTDB, especially the intro scenes, is the voice of God/the narrator from Good Omens. Now you know.

2. Describe their tent setup! What’s on the outside? The inside?

Very neat and tidy, everything in its place. He has a small makeshift shrine to the Moonmaiden set up in one corner near the head of his bedroll, and you can gain approval by giving him the Selunite idol taken from the owlbear cave at which point it appears on the shrine. Like Lae'zel, he has a training dummy set up and spends a lot of time in camp punching it with rapid fire blows. Over the course of the game, his tent setup slowly accumulates more and more stacks of books, each reflecting one of the places you've been to so far, and he has a camp chatter dialogue tree to discuss each one.

3. What would their character quest be titled? Why?

Thinking about Hector's canonical growth over the course of the game, his companion quest would be similarly about moving beyond his monastery discipline to a greater understanding of the world and his own emotions. It would be more dramatic tho in order to fit in line with the challenges faced by other companions in the game. I am picturing something to do with him spending the first two acts wanting to get back to the monastery on the far side of Baldur's Gate and re-seclude himself, but by the time you take him there in Act 3 (and defend it from an attack by cultists) he realizes that he has moved beyond its teachings and wants to stay with you rather than cloister himself again.

In keeping with the names of other companion quests though, his quest in the journal would have a name that is poetically descriptive of him - something like "The Moonmaiden's Fist". XD

8. After Act 3, what does their life look like? What are they talking about at the reunion party?

It is interesting to think about this in a scenario where he is not bound so tightly to Karlach. XD But I think, similarly to the squid-Karlach verse I wrote about, I think he probably stays with Jaheira in the city, lending his physical strength and spiritual support to the rebuilding effort. He grows to take a lot of pride in coming to understand the vast variety of the world and its people and how much more he can contribute by not hiding himself away. Every librarian in the city also knows him by name and he slowly works through the incredibly vast collection of books he never knew existed. At least one branch of his epilogue conversation is him excitedly telling you about his discovery of the concept of pulp detective fiction.

18. Where/with whom do they feel safest?

In canon verse, absolutely with Karlach. She is very warm and very comforting in the incredibly scary situation they are handling together, and she makes him smile in the darkest times. He's not lying in the epilogue when he says she is his home.

In companion verse - you, probably. You take the lead on the situation and he is relieved to have someone to follow and take guidance from. This is especially true if you are religious of any sort or particularly if you are Selunite yourself. He's also visibly relieved and more comfortable any time you encounter religious locations - such as the shrine in the owlbear cave, the Open Hand Temple, the Stormshore Tabernacle, and even Umberlee's temple - or academic ones such as Sorcerous Sundries.

going to be a bit self indulgent and say that given the nature of the area they're in, they'd love a vulture!! >:) big, imposing, and so pretty...! vultures are my favorite kind of birds (and flamingos too!) so perhaps i'm a bit biased. However i do see both of them training a vulture to swoop down at their teammates as a joke (mostly scout. because sniper tells him that they could actually carry him away so any time one gets near him scout does a Shrill Scream) SKDFKSDFK

but i think they'd also love not just birds, but all kinds of exotic animals! i could write an entire fic about how i think sniper would be so giddy to show another animal enthusiast (medic Does love other animals than birds after all!) all of his knowledge about them and would probably take him on fun excursions so that medic could see the animals in action!

i think medic would love rocko for instance! or any other of sniper's lil pet cosmetics hehe... but as far as other birds, it would be kind of hard to keep them in teufort (though that doesn't mean medic wouldn't try...!) but i think medic would want a really Big bird... or a lyrebird, because it can mimic any sound and i think medic especially would have LOTS of fun with that HEHE!!!

i think sniper would have to be the voice of reason because medic would give him puppy dog eyes and be like "can't we take this little darling (large ostrich or cassowary) home with us? ;-;" and sniper would be like "think he'd have a hard time fitting on the plane, pidge. :(" <- thinks medic is SO cute for asking though.. HEHEHH

I'm on holiday in my home country rn and have been having a blast personally. Meeting relatives, childhood friends, the food, familiar places ect.

and I'll admit I do have a lot of free time outside that but honestly I do feel a wee bit burnt out ngl.

And with my spare time, I've jumped down the demon slayer rabbit hole

Basically it's all been a huge break for me.

I'm sorry I haven't updated at all, the wips are still in my drafts. I have no formal posting schedule but after returning and getting some work sorted out I'll see what I can do! But no promises!

It is a WIP. It's a sketch for a shadowalkers piece (Wooh! Haven't heard of that au in a while eh?)

I have redesigned mostly Bai He's outfit and added a little pouch for Macaca. The change was mostly so I had more freedom to do different top designs for the new members of the fam!

If anyone has suggestions for outfit designs or accessories or jewelery, hair, anything! let me know pls!

This is just the WIP stage and I really want to achieve that semi-wild, untamed but mysterious and refined gypsy look.

(Also its a guilty pleasure of mine to dress up my characters in aus or just for the fun of it lol)

And fun fact: Wukong's the only one in the fam wearing shoes lol.

Another fun fact: That brick pattern rag he's wearing? Was once a part of tripitaka's cassock from their days on the mountain. (see shadowalkers lore summary for context)

Oooh! Ooooh! Also the top half of Wukong's body? I did that myself sans references!!! Woooooooh!!!

Not that there's anything wrong with references of course. Pros and beginners use them and I do recommend them for poses, ideas and such.

Though I am proud I could think of something off like memory and make it work! I think...you can tell me otherwise lol

(BTW this is the after of the main plot where shadowpeach reconciles, they escape the town and Bai He gains a new stepbrother!)

WITCH THOUGHTS LET'S GOOOOO!

THEY IMPROVED CARMELA THANK FUCK! They did it for me..! ^v^ She is WAY more coordinated and the colours are sooo nice! The frilly skirt bit is soooo cute! I love how she kinda looks like an octopus or some kind of sea creature. Not sure how well that links with Manaka but eh. I don't think there's much I dislike here. Perhaps the knife rack thing is a little out of place? Not sure. Now as the witch from the doppel hmmmm it seems like the circular bit is completely lost... for link-age, that's not great but getting rid of it to make the design better, i am wholeheartedly down for. She is a big win for me!

Obariyon. I'm hmmmmm not sure. I don't hate it. Why does its head look like a bear? Is it cause like... Obeariyon..? I just don't know if this would be what I'd imagine the full witch to be... The doppel makes me think more of an insect or something whereas this is going for a mammal it seems. It's good but I'm on the fence whether I personally like it.

From the silhouette from the trailer I was super worried about Hevelius but I think I like her? I think her shape is interesting and as stupid as the head is, I think it's fun. But I do have gripes. I'm a bit bothered that the white fabric bit that was so focal before is just completely gone and the head piece and veil is completely removed, like c'mon, that could've been super pretty on her head. And I'm not sure about the coral-looking uhhh thing. And I hate those legs why do they look unfinished? As I rack up the complaints maybe I don't like it..? Hm... I feel like I could improve it using that shape base though. She's fine.

Also... THE HEAD LOOKS LIKE THAT MANNEQUIN HEAD FROM RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE BUT I CAN'T REMEMBER ITS NAME

Now we're getting onto the ones I super like again wheeee! I think Pennen Nolde is so fun, the little matchstick girl theme is ace! I'm sad some super cool aspects of the doppel are gone though... I loved the matchstick thing and the lace and hanging diamonds but eh, maybe they just didn't fit. She's good and I can see it working the other way if the doppel came second. Although the legs are simple, I think the doll legs work and aren't bland like Hevelius'

Pennen Nemenu, ough, I think she's beautiful! I think she takes from the doppel super well! I miss the weird teapot head but I think the head they chose is also cool. Maybe add the tassels onto the end of the hat thing? I love how the main body is utilised into her bloomers (one thing I was sad was missed about Nolde) and she's super cute. My only gripe is her body shape, she is a child she does not need a stick thin waist and boobs, thank you

Now I did notice that these last 3 doppels share a similar body shape and I get that for important, linked characters. I don't think it's a bad thing cause they're all unique enough on their own.

And back to disappointed. My fears came true, I did not want her witch to just be the Nightmare-esque part... sigh... it doesn't even take from it well... no ears? Hair completely wrong colour, face completely different, stripes going wrong way. Like, I get it. Gas mask for poisons, bandage on head for uhh illness (i dont know enough about Alina but she was in the hospital right?) but it's not her doppel. Disappointing.

I'm SUPER late to the Halloween party with this piece, but truth be told the last months of October-December 2023 were busy as hell! So I initially planned to post this piece on New Years Day, but unfortunately, tragedy happened within my family, which at that point posting was the least of my worries :0(

Things are slowly clearing, so now I have the emotional/mental energy back to share this piece I worked hard on! I'm super proud of how this came out, and how wonderful IbisPaintX is to make doodles/finals on the go on my phone! I rarely get to draw Amy, so having the challenge of redrawing her to the Carrie 1976 (USA poster) was an awesome and challenging experience, I got to test out some techniques I learned along the way ✨

I was fully inside a pipe today fixing welds (a tight squeeze for my big beefy shoulders) when one of the guys started spinning it. we’ve been doing this to whomever is in a pipe that day, but I hadn’t been spun yet, so after the initial jumpscare it was actually quite fun. I had been lying on my back fixing a weld above me which wasn’t the most comfortable, so once he’d spun me 180 degrees he was gloating like “do you want spun back again?” and the funniest thing to do to this guy is to make his antics backfire so I was like “no actually this is way better for what I was welding! Thanks so much!” and he was like SHIT! GOD DAMMIT!! FUCK’S SAKE!! 🤭 I’m gonna go in the pipe tomorrow and ask him to spin it. literally wheeee yippee

4. The Pacific. I'm just being honest right now. I liked certain parts and certain characters A LOT but it all felt too disjointed and there were too many through lines and it was (this sounds bad bc war and trauma and tragedy but hey I watch tv for entertainment) depressing. I didn't like a war show bc war is depressing, I know how ridiculous that sound.

3. Masters of the Air. Not anywhere near as depressing, but much more disjointed. I couldn't track or find a connection with most of the characters. It felt like too much telling and not enough showing about what I should care about and I want to seeeeee these things.

2. Generation Kill is probably my second-favorite, but I think about it all the time (and by all the time I really do literally mean all. the. time.) so I have to wonder if that's inaccurate? But you guys. It's so fucking good don't take this slight rank of #2 to mean anything besides it's so fucking good and I love it.

Band of Brothers, because it was my first love. Because winnix. Because gorgeous cinematography. Because Liebgott's jugular. Because "Doing fine, Bill, thanks for asking." Because Dick Winters shaving. Because Nixon's suspenders. Because F Company got lost again. Because Joe Toye's brass knuckles.

o. okay i'm bout to get slapped but. i don't really get luztoye. Obviously I was there for "Just give me a goddamn drink" and several other key scenes but...I don't know!!! Obviously the textual clues are there and they are not subtle, I just don't quite get how the two personalities mesh. Excited to read more fics until I do get it *hides*

My love! My favorite! I adore you so much! Merlin until recently was a show I would rewatch every year. THEN one of my RP servers when down for months and my mind was like HEY YOU NEED DOPAMINE KNOW THAT SHOW? It's a special intrest now. Merlin and Arthur were always my favs. But I read two merthur fanfics, realized hey this actually worked, watched the show with new eyes, decided to write a small oneshot. And then It was not a one shot, And then there was a sequal and a prequal... then I was writing more stuff! This show showed me I could write again after a long time thinking I could not.

My second favoirite show is Avatar the Last Airbender I guess and my fav character is actually Aang. I like his nonconfrontationalness I kinda also have that trait and you do not often see it in fiction.

(Now from here on out they don't really have an order?

I really like the show The Tudors. I don't require historical accuricy in shows about the time period that is a special interst to me. I can enjoy the shows seperatly and be like that did not happen! But the tudors is weard because it is very much NOT historicaluy accurate as a whole but somtimes, Dialouge and scenes are pretty much ripped from the firsthand acounts of the period. This is also the show were both Natalie Dormer and Henry Cavill got their start. Fun fact Katie McGrath was actually working on costume design on this show and someone told her she should try acting. She got a very small role in the show then went on to land Morgana in Merlin. ALSO this show makes me cry so MUCH

I didn't get into Shadow and Bone on my first try. After season two aired I tried is again with a freind of mine and loved it. I'm so upset it was canceled!

With Brigerton I actually started with the Spin off Queen Charlotte (I'm counting spin offs and their original show as the same show usually so I can have more shoes listed here WHEEEE.) Anyhoo Queen Charlotte won me over with it having a romantic male lead with mental Ilness. and I enjoyed it! So I watched Brigerton too. Eloise is pretty much teenage me.

The boys and Gen V got me with its plot and commantary on American society. Alright it kinda helps that I've never really liked the idea of super heros. This is pretty much the only superhero media I consume along with one animated show my sister had me watch once. My favorite from the original Series is Hughie and my fav from Gev V is Jordan.

Okay so yeah! Dr Who. I stopped watching shortly after 11 left and came back for 14 and 15. My fav doctors are 11 and 15 so far! I adore Martha and Donna the best.

So The Last Kingdom was a show that my freind really liked and we watched together. I hated Uhtred in season 1 but came to enjoy him later. I LOVED These two in the gif, I WAS HERE FOR THEM SHIPPING THEM IN THE LAST SEASON. You know how that turned out if you watch the show. I have never hated on a character as much as I did on a certain king. THEM. <3

I am very much enjoying House Of The Dragon. I was a GOT fan until the end season even if it started going downhil before that. No I am not team black or team green. I can see both viewpoints. So I'm just here to watch people freak out over it. And enjoy it myself. And Cheer for Healana while waiting in dred due to having read the book it's based on. I'm upset the seem to have gotten rid of Nettles though.

Derry Girls is the show on this list I watched most recently. I did not really like the first episode but from there I adored them all. Clare and Orla are my Favs. But the entire cast is great.

I have roller skates. I just bought them on Friday. I stink at using them, but it's fun anyways.

I have a very strong memory when it comes to movies I've watched before. My sister keeps saying that I'm addicted, trying to remove my phone from me at any opportunity, but thank God she never succeeded. She gave up at one point.
