I totally respect that. I wish I was that person who never needs a guide but that usually doesn't happen for me 😅

No yeah all the power to you, if you ever want to try and be that person, given you are saying you wish you were, how about you give yourself a number of attempts on a map before you hit a guide up? Like, 5 attempts, an arbitrary number, you try different compositions, deployments, etc, and then you hit the youtuber up. Hell, another thing I’ve suggested in the past that has worked is that watching guides right can actually help you improve. Defining “right” here by actually picking the guide apart, dissecting it, and figuring out why what’s being done in the guide works. It can actually help you out a lot, and I think that’s a super productive and fun thing to do.

People on my streams sometimes tell me watching me play helped them improve, not because they copy what I do or who I use (no one else has invested Roberta or Akafuyu to copy after all lmao, or such a propensity towards non-Summoner Supporters as I do) but because they figured out that there’s plenty to learn from play style and why the style works in the first place. Busting out the surtrs and mlynars works because they are strong units, but that’s focusing on why the unit works and what the unit can do, whereas a clear with the same amount of effort and ease using Roberta and Akafuyu instead focuses on why you can make the unit work and what you can do with the unit in a given map; you never need the raw amount of firepower top of the shelf units offer, mid range units absolutely get the work done, so you start studying why the mid range units can succeed, and what it is you are not doing that’s not letting them clear. In that self-reflection, you develop skill. This works for the majority of games and other life skills, by the way. But it all starts by giving yourself a chance to fuck up and lose because there’s no wiser sensei out there than the stone you just tripped with.

Alright….because I’m a little unhinged, bored, and a journalist that likes to “network” in fandoms like a weirdo, I went and messaged a few Japanese fans about the stream for some answers and asked a buddy to translate for me.

Here’s what I got:

The summary of episode 2 was vague as hell, and they made no definitive statements about what it would include. They said Masamune’s origin and the friendship of Angeal and Sephiroth would be seen, but it was all left ambiguous in terms of what else would be shown or if these key points were all that would be shown. The most passionate fan I spoke to made it clear that what was frustrating was the lack of explanation of what else episode 2 would cover and when.

It sounds like they’re all more frustrated that the discussion of the episode was so short and there were clearly some tight-lipped shenanigans going on. They’re all wondering about Genesis too, but are fairly certain he’ll show at some point because the game opened with his disappearance.

Anyway, no explicit statements were made about the second episode ONLY focusing on Angeal and Sephiroth. We have no idea if Gen’s gonna be there or not. We’re all in ambiguity central until further notice, fam.

it feels like they have a plan and a solid direction for what they're trying to do and after carnival releases thatll be all that buildup coming to fruition. & we already know from the Scott interview that theres another release 'beyond sotm' that's 'super exciting' so maybe thatll be focusing on another big currently untouched (which is basically all of them) plotline, or even the big campaign game that dawko has been calling security breach 2

Bill: I haven't personally put a lot of thought into his character but I know a lot of people portray him as a a bit of a flirt but could also easily be thrown into an older brother type i feel

Charlie: He literally ran off to go take care of dragons almost immediately this boy is an adventurous type but like also a very cool go with the flow type i don't know if there's an actual name for this type but do you know what i'm talking about? like i feel you could sneak in his room at 2am wake him up and tell him to go flying with you and he would do it with little question

Percy: A pure Workaholic/Megane type through and through but could arguable (imo) also easily be thrown into an older brother type role but i feel like unlike Bill whenever he does it in a post war scenario he would notice and backpaddle because he feels like he no right to. if Fred is dead and from the same way also probably has a bit of Kuudere vibes thrown in for good measure

Fred&George: very much sweet devil style types that you can tweak the extent of depending on the route and if Fred is dead well then you got a Jerk character who "just wants to be left alone" on your hands and by that i mean needs love

Ron: depends on who you made the protag for example if it went the route of letting you pick like Harry or Hermione(ideal imo) boom there you go Best Friend archetype right there if not then shrugs I'm not sure what he'd fit otherwise Himbo maybe? its not super common in LIs but it should be

Ginny: tomboy but again if you go Harry or Hemione you can also pull best friends younger sibling vibes into the mix or if you use someone else then Ginny could be the friend who brought you and now she gets to be the Best Friend type oh or maybe the "romance the stat teller" trope if it was a stat raising kind if game.
