Ok ok ok so
I've bought the Zelda Encyclopedia because I am in a hyperfixated rampage about LoZ. And on one hand it's the best thing ever, because special interest is going brrrr.
But ! But.
I've bought in french. Because I... Am french.
And I don't know if the english version has troubles, alright ? But THE FRENCH VERSION IS A BADLY TRANSLATED HELL and I need to rant.
Keep in mind that I didn't study the book. I've skimmed through. And I'm already holding my head in my hands in a dramatic 'losing my mind' posture.
But anyway ! Here's the defendant :
This is the book I'm talking about, and all the pictures that follow come from this book.
Follow me into translation hell !
Note : I actually usually prefer the french translation in Zelda ! They do a good job at translating things that make sense, leaving things as they are when it isn't needed, and I often find the translated characters' names prettier. (Example : Makar, the korok from Wind Waker, is called Dumoria. I have NO IDEA why it changes so much but it sound so much better in my opinion !) So this is not VF hate. This is genuine uncomprehension as to WHY IS THE BOOK LIKE THIS.
Now, you don't need to go far into the book to have a problem with it.
First few pages. Like literally before the actual content of the book. Presentation of the games. Easy enough, right ? Not hard to beta read, RIGHT ?
WHAT DO YOU MEAN "THE MINISHIP CAP". WHAT DO YOU MEAN. IT'S NOT LIKE THE TITLE IS WRITTEN ON THE PICTURE ABOVE. How did it happen ?? The name doesn't even change in french, help
"Miniship cap" I already want to quit and it's my INTRODUCTION to this book.
We can divide the mistakes of this book in three categories :
- Lore mistake
- Translation mistake
- Wtf mistakes
I would place "Miniship cap" in the WTF category, for obvious reasons. (HOW???)
The first two categories are easily justified : they asked someone to reread the book and the person wasn't very interested/didn't know Zelda well. But it makes the book LIE
Example of lore mistake :
The title here is " The Ancient Temple, marked by the loftwings".
THE L O F T W I N G S.
This is the ancient temple in Twilight Princess. This is supposed to read OCCAS ! SKYWARD SWORD WASN'T EVEN RELEASED YET !! LOFTWINGS DIDN'T EXIST !
Why did this happen ? Well, in french, Loftwings are called "Célestriers" (mix of the words "céleste", celestial, and "destrier", which is apparently the same in english but I've never seen it before, it's a horse usually or an animal you ride). And Occas ? Are called "Célestiens". People that lives in the sky, basically.
So yeah, Célestriers, Célestiens, I SEE the mistake, ok ?
But still. Uncool. Boo.
Now, example of translation mistake :
The first sentence here is a description of a picture, it reads "Aryll is abducted by Helmaroc King on Ganondorf's orders".
Why isn't this shocking to you, english reader ? Because Helmaroc King is the ENGLISH name of the big bird. In french, there are no "roi Helmaroc" ("roi" means king). It has been translated.
But maybe the book doesn't know, right ? IT'S NOT LIKE THE NAME IS WRITTEN ON THE NEXT PAGE, RIGHT ?
THERE. LE ROI CUIRASSE. THIS IS THE BITCH I KNOW ABOUT. I'M LOSING MY MIND
But again, alright, I guess someone didn't think to translate the name. Some characters's names aren't translated (example : french Skull kid is called... Skull kid. I am thankful for that), so maybe they just didn't THINK to check if there was a translation.
Even though. It was on the next page.
AND I WAS GOING TO LET ROI HELMAROC SLIDE. I WAS.
AND THEN I LOOKED AT THE SAME FUCKING PICTURE I TOOK OF THE BOOK.
First thing I underlined, "Mélodie", is a typo of Medli's name in french, which is "Médolie". I get it, it's an anagram, I've read it Mélodie my whole childhood, OK French Zelda Encyclopedia. OK.
BUT "ÉPÉE MAÎTRESSE" ?? NO.
THE MASTER SWORD IS NOT FUCKING CALLED "ÉPÉE MAÎTRESSE". MAÎTRESSE IS WHAT YOU CALL YOUR TEACHER WHEN SHE'S A WOMAN AND YOU'RE TEN, OK ?
(Actually, "maître" and its feminization "maîtresse" do mean master. But it's. It feels wrong. It's not the in-game name, and it feels wrong.)
THE MASTER SWORD IS "ÉPÉE DE LÉGENDE", OK ? LEGENDARY SWORD. THERE IS NO ÉPÉE MAÎTRESSE.
AT LEAST I HOPE.
Breathing in, breathing out... Ok. A not so important one :
"Les oiseaux" means "the birds", and yes, in english, those cuties are called "little birds" which would be literally "petits oiseaux" in french. (I know, too much vowels, I'm not here to defend my birth language BEAR WITH ME)
But in the VF ? They aren't 'birds'. They are PIOUPS. (Pronounced pyoop, it doesn't mean anything, just mimic the bird's noise)
THEY ARE 'PETITS PIOUPS' ALRIGHT ? AND I LOVE THEM. I'm just. Sad that their name isn't in the book. This is petits pioups erasure.
(After checking, the item they drop is called "plume d'oiseau", so "bird feather". The word "pioup" is just in the description of the item, so... Maybe it's just me. BUT STILL. LET ME CALL THEM PIOUPS IT'S ADORABLE)
And we're not even in my favorite category ! May I introduce :
The what the fuck mistakes
Aka : I can't understand how they let it slide.
Here I want you to read the description of the picture 6.
"Playing the Song of Healing, Link gets his normal appearance back".
Ok, this is probably a description of when Link goes from Deku Scrub back to Hylian, so I am expecting a picture of Link !
Image 6 : WHY IS IT THE CREEPY LINK STATUE.
DID THEY KNOW ABOUT BEN DROWNED ?? WHY IS THE WORST POSSIBLE REPRESENTATION OF LINK IS DESCRIBED WITH "LINK GOES BACK TO NORMAL". NO. NO I AM CALLING MY LAWYER, BOOK, YOU CAN'T DO THAT TO ME.
You know, in a book, there can be translating errors... And, apparently, there also can be "we forgot to fucking translate" errors.
Plural.
IN THE GODDAMN TITLES.
And I studied graphic design, alright. I know, TRUST ME, I know your eyes can get used to the titles and make you miss 'obvious' mistakes.
BUT THIS IS WHY YOU GET SOMEONE TO RE-READ. This is a fucking official book ! That has been published by probably very official publishers, I don't know, I haven't checked !
POURQUOI LE LIVRE EST NUL ? POURQUOI EST-CE QU'IL Y A AUTANT D'ERREURS ? COMMENT EST-CE QUE "MINISHIP CAP" EST ARRIVÉ ? OÙ SONT LES PETITS PIOUPS ? ENGAGEZ-MOI POUR RELIRE LE LIVRE LA PROCHAINE FOIS C'EST PAS POSSIBLE !!
I at least hope some of you laughed watching me losing my mind in french ; I hit the ten images limit, but I'm sure I'll find enough for a part two. I've lost all faith in this book. I'll read it thoroughly just to scream about it on Tumblr.
[*holding a knife towards the book* I won't let anything slide, you hear me ?]
Now with a part 2 !
#I've already found some other things. it's. I don't have the words#Zelda#Legend of Zelda#LoZ#the legend of zelda#translation mistake#help#the book is killing me slowly#but I enjoy reading it#Zelda Encyclopedia#French Zelda Encyclopedia Is A Nightmare#Lenn rambles

Goddess of Secrecy & Mark of a Hero: Should You Read Both?
Ok, I know I've talked not amazingly about GoS some on this blog so far. Most of that is because I'm stuck in the middle of edits with it and so you know. My opinion of it isn't the best right now.
That said, I do still adore GoS. It's a story I'm proud of. It's a story I will be prouder of after edits. And it's a reflection of my growth as a storyteller. I'm sure the chart of what that looks like is interesting with the hiatuses mixed in there, but here we are. And on top of that, GoS was/is really well liked over on Wattpad. It is creeping up on 300,000 reads and it didn't get there for nothing. Is it big? Yeah, absolutely. It's got nothing on MoaH though in size. GoS will likely reach about 500,000 words by the time it's done with edits. MoaH hit that word count at the end of act 3 of book 2 (of 9).
That said, GoS & MoaH do share lore connections. MoaH continues GoS's timeline with the most interconnection of any of my fics (they are all generally on the same timeline, but really only GoS & MoaH focus on it). Now, MoaH is standalone, you don't have to read GoS to enjoy MoaH's lore. But. If you have read both, the lore does expand on each other. There are also easter eggs in MoaH based on GoS (a non-spoiler one is that GoS's Sages are on Hart's cards in their oracle deck). If that's something you enjoy, GoS is slowly releasing chapters in its first phase of edits onto AO3 now as well as the chapters are being edited and released on Wattpad with banners, I will be putting out announcements as we get through to the end of dungeons (~10 chapters). It is at probably its most approachable point right now as it goes through phase 1 edits. They said about the 197 chapter fic, I know, but like. It is at its smallest right now. I'm aiming to get 2-3 chapters out a week, so it's gonna add up eventually.
I like to think that GoS is to MoaH lore-wise what The Hobbit is to The Lord of the Rings. A more kid friendly, shorter, and tonally very different prequel to the main series it follows. Can you read one without reading the other? Yes. Are both expanded by how they interconnect? That's the goal. I mean, if I'm gonna put out something massive like this, I ought to at least make sure y'all get some fun out of it for reading both.
And to answer the phase 1 edits thing real fast, I realized very quickly into GoS that I was going to have to break up edits into two parts. Phase 1 is "What the fuck did I write 12 years ago" where I rediscover some of the things this brain at 16 years old thought was a good idea to write and publish. Some of these things are the reason we're putting out phase 1 immediately over waiting to get through phase 2 for releases. I don't want the original text to exist anymore. Some of it was just bad. Offensive. I mean it's offensive and I don't want that available to read for as much as I can prevent it so the Wattpad chapters have to be replaced. But also, I worked on this book for over 12 years, I forgot a lot of what I wrote and I have no notes from the entire process. So we're getting the story in order, the yikes cut out, and then we'll go into phase 2, which is:
"Ok, but some of these chapters are only 1k." Phase 2 of GoS edits aims to get the word count of chapters, minimum, up to 1.5k. Ideally, up to 2k. GoS is shorter for chapter goals, that's lower than my goals for MoaH chapters (which seems to be adding a thousand per book, but we'll see how book 3 goes), but some of these chapters in GoS barely qualified as chapters. They have plot points I think deserve the breaks! But they need more description. Less floating heads. More details. At that point, the story will be there though because of phase 1 and I will know better where they go, so phase 2 won't really add anything new plot wise, it'll just make what's there better in presentation.
As I've said previously, GoS is being backdated for its original publication, mostly for the archival process of it. It is linked on the pinned post of this blog if you wanna give it a go.

AU-gust day 12
12 Aug 23 Book Store
“Why don’t you just ask him out already!” MC rolled her eyes at her co-worker Yoosung. The blond barely did any meaningful work when the red-head was in the book store.
“That would be unprofessional.” Yoosung tsked. He unboxed books and set them on the cart, but his amethyst eyes hardly left the other man as he made his way around the stacks.
Saeran was about the same height as Yoosung, red hair, gorgeous mint green eyes, and apparently a voracious reader. Some days he would spend hours searching for books and sitting in the in-store café reading and sipping tea. The man had a store card and Yoosung always made a point to try and be his cashier, making small talk.
He came in so often that just about every employee knew him. It was unthinkable that he could read so fast, but they had all been spellbound at how fast he turned the pages on whatever book he was reading. The subject matter was impressive as well. Anything from romance, the classics, mathematics, science, language, and manga. It didn’t seem to matter as long as he found it interesting.
The man was pulling books from the Fantasy section today, but so far he didn’t seem to have found anything worth reading.
“Why don’t you make a recommendation?” MC suggested.
“Huh?” Yoosung raised his eyebrows.
“Go on, I’ll finish this.” She took the stack of books from Yoosung and gave him a gentle push. He hesitated, then walked towards the red-head, smoothing his yellow hair.
“Uh, hey, can’t find anything you like?” he squeaked out. Clearing his throat he looked away, embarrassed.
“Seems like the same plot over and over.” Saeran shrugged, setting another book back on the shelf.
“Do you like a lot of action?” Yoosung asked, eyes lighting up.
“Yeah, dialogue too, not so much into an overabundance of scene descriptions.” He answered.
“Oh! Then you might like this new collection, it’s based off the video game LOLOL. I don’t know if you’ve played it but it’s pretty accurate to the lore. They use a lot of the same magic system. Of course they take a lot of liberty with the weapon mechanics but that’s to be expected.” He walked towards the section the books were in, turning his head to make sure the man was following. He tried to shut up, but word vomit just spewed out of him.
“Characterization is insane! I mean, there are a lot of recognizable NPC’s and they use some of the same dialogue as in the game, but, if you don’t play you still enjoy the interaction, I think it’s more for the players to find some nifty Easter eggs.” He laughed.
Saeran followed silently. Making Yoosung try and fill the silence. He felt like an idiot with his flapping tongue. Was he boring the man? Was he just being polite but wanting him to shut up already?
“Anyway, here it is.” He pulled the first book in the series and handed it to Saeran. On the cover was a wizard with his hand out, a fireball in his palm and holding an ornate staff in his other hand. The other man turned it and read the back quickly, then turned to the first page and began to read. Yoosung stood awkwardly, not sure what to do. Should he walk away?
After a very long minute Saeran looked up and smiled.
“Thank you, I think I will like this. Do you play this game?” he asked.
“Yes, I’m kind of addicted.” He laughed.
“Maybe I’ll try it.”
“You should! It’s totally fun, and even more fun with friends.” Yoosung gushed.
“Really? Hmm, maybe you could come over and help me.” Saeran said.
Yoosung’s tongue went dry. Did he really just ask that? His eyes went wide and suddenly he couldn’t speak.
“Sorry, I guess I overstepped, nevermind.” Saeran blushed and turned to grab volume two of the series.
“No! I…I mean…” Yoosung stammered, “I can totally do that! It’ll be fun.”
“Yeah?” Saeran turned back and beamed at him. “Can I get your number? I’ll call you when I get the game and I’m ready to set it up, is that OK?”
“Absolutely!” Yoosung took his phone out and opened it up as Saeran did the same, they exchanged numbers and an awkward goodbye.
Was it a date? Yoosung hoped so.

‘ The Stormlight Archives Volume One: The Way of Kings’ Review - Prelude + Prologue
So is the way when my partner buys me his favourite book and I study English Literature, so must I be overly thorough in reviewing it. Welcome to my scuffed part-by-part criticism and appreciation.
link to contents page - https://at.tumblr.com/the-vibes-are-off/hey-hey/96xd9ohihrzs
Now I’m busy today so I’m only doing the prelude and prologue for now as a way of introducing what I’m tabbing and why. Since I don’t know a lot about the series I’m tabbing it like I would most other non-focused tabbings mainly with just bits that I like over anything else and, since it’s an author I’m unfamiliar with in a genre I don’t read, I have included a ‘hate this’ tab in case this reaches anyone who is either interested in reading the series and wants honesty or for any particularly argumentative fans that want to debate.
I’ve decided to split into spoiler free and spoiler filled sections in order to explain my tabbings to both read and unread readers - tab count for the current section and total read so far will be at the bottom.
Spoiler Free Zone:
The prelude definitely starts off the book with an interesting historical baseline and soft introducing what I assume is lore to be further revealed as time goes on. Very typical dark and gloomy fantasy setting I would say, definitely could probs be written better but is certainly interesting.
This follows in the prologue 100%. Brandon deffo has the imagination to be thinking up races/groups of people, characters, weapons, abilities etc and the scenes are descriptive and dynamic to an extent however I have beef with some of his basic writing technique. Clearly with it being 1007 pages long he has no qualms with book length but has a tendency to repeat paragraph openers (which whatever like that is admittedly minor) and tell rather than show (which is the bit that gets me).
*SPOILER BUFFER*
Spoiler Zone - Enter at your own risk:
Admittedly I can’t say the first page was initially gripping me, typical large scale beast fight. I think the desolation of the fight could definitely have been described better but from what I can gather the fight is more of just a precursor to the important lore so it isn’t that deep.
Naturally I tabbed cool swords yes yes yes cool swords gimme cool swords followed by torture (horror fan me very happy at any gruesome adjacent description). Tabbed a ‘WTF? Why?’ At furthering lore. Oathpact? Cycle of Desolations? Why is it ending? Gimme more pls pls pls but at the end of the day it is the prelude so I had to live.
Loved the quote at the start of the chapter, a lovely form feature I wasn’t expecting. 100% first slay quote I love when books have quotes at the start of chapters, usually allusions to other texts but an in world quote definitely still works.
First love this was at the description of the women. What can I say. I love women. I am biased.
My first beef (hate this) was with the explanation of a ‘lashing’. I get it needing context with lashing typically meaning something else but like maybe gloss it in the back or at the bottom of the page so that it doesn’t take you out of the fight and rather acts as like an optional contextualisation.
Tbf tho Brandon hit me with more cool swords for my first ‘WTF WOW’ tab bc sword that cuts someone’s soul? Come on man like that’s so sick.
We love a cheeky bit of lore too - I had to add a bonus tabby for lore insertions. Nice to have more context for the start (I assume?).
Our first named death too? Before chapter one? With a cryptic last wish. Classic set up that you can’t help but love.
Tab Count:

Why Tommy is one of THE BEST written characters in existence.
Alright, that’s it
Here I give you my fuckin Take on why Tommy is one of the best written characters out there and can easily compete with best-selling Novels like Percy Jackson and Harry Potter. I’m sick of a trashing that doesn’t even make sense. So buckle up. Here I will tell you why Tommy has one of the best written characters in history of Books and Movies. Remember, I write this all in my perspective and take many examples of other character books as well
Before this all starts, I will also talk about the main characters of some series, since Tommy has the reputation of being a “main” character.
When I look at the books I’ve read, I see a large range of characters and there way of making the story interesting.
Now, to establish a good character, we need key points of motivations, to make them relatable and bla bla blub:
Personality
Part of the story
Their Powers
Flaws
Relationships
Prized Possessions
History/the backstory
The moral and story the character tells
First tho, I want to explain some words I’m going to use here!
Mary Sue/Gary Stu:
Those are characters who are flawless, have missing chunks of personality and mostly one way written. They are easy to achieve when you are trying to make your character look badass.
Examples in some Fandoms are
· Rey Skywalker (Star Wars Sequels 7-9)
· Hermione Granger (Harry Potter Movies)
· Bella Swan (Twilight)
Tree-System:
Imagine a tree. You plant something small and soon you have something giant with many branches, roots and connections. You have the seed you plant and with caring and care you let it grow. Then you have somewhat a sapling. The tree grows with the care and soon you have a tree with many branches.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Personality
Negative:
Tommy’s personality is very brash and out of control = He’s barely containable in fights, going off to do his own risky plans and starting two or so fights. He can’t forgive a person very easily like Eret, who took it a long time to get forgiveness and Techno, as he shot Tubbo at the Festival. He makes decision that also cost his life like the duel because he hates losing
Tommy can be very lazy, giving the thought he wouldn’t have to do the hard work = Shown when he tries to steal the hearts of seas from Eret or potions from Techno, bargain with “drugs” by Puffy and Ponk or gives other people the work he doesn’t want to do like he did with getting cobblestone
Like a child, he often clings to close people and annoys others for attention = His desperate attempts to have company or someone praising him shows, when he tries to get Philza’s approval (or a pat on the back), constantly looking out, if Tubbo’s either okay or where his is,
He doesn’t like to wait or doing things in the long run = He constantly asks when something is finished, when they could go or in his exile, when he was allowed to go back to L’Manburg
He doesn’t show often his cooled down, scared and vulnerable side = He often overshadows his trauma with a facade of jokes and bad hidden hurt he brings out. When he talks about something bad, he’s clearly confused, not really knowing on how to understand it. Also he runs away from things he can’t control a panic attack like visiting the final control room or looking away from the holes in Logstedshire
He runs without head into a battle so often as possible = Only when they had their final showdown for the disc, Tommy was seen preparing in story, thinking it would be his last fight
---
Positive:
But as he has negative traits, his positive shows to many people clearly.
His unwavering loyalty to the closest of people = His loyalty to Tubbo, Wilbur And L’Manburg are, were and always will be a part of him. He stands against anyone who goes against that, even if it means pain in many ways.
Passionate about dear projects of his = You can see Tommy talking about his discs or see an video where he would spent days getting different discs. Those things are very known to be rare things, so for Tommy to possess it gives him somewhat power. L’Manburg was the same passion, even a bit more, as you can see he was ready to give up his most prized disk. The last and in the moment is his hotel
Bravery like no one makes him as one of the dangerous person on peoples hitlist = He stands up for others. He stood up to L’Manburg. He in the end didn’t care that he lost a life. When he sees a foe, he won’t stand down and submit, he will fight against the oppression and tell them that in the face. During the mission to get a visa, he stood against Schlatt, even if they were clearly in the loose of people and disadvantage. Or getting an apology of Sapnap for killing Niki’s fox. Fighting against 5 people with just one ally while the other is a hostage.
His leadership = There are not many people who can take it up, but Tommy is an exception. He can coordinate people with his loud voice and somewhat thought plans. He is charismatic, even if he’s not so good at it like Wilbur, he still can motivate people to fight for themselves or others. He’s seen to lead others into battle and taking in the fighting part a leading role
Unselfish. That’s one of the most arguable things about Tommy`s character = You can´t look at a kid and say he is selfish because he wants to get something dearly back. Especially Tommy, after he gave the things up, he cared about. But if something is happening again, he will lay it down to do the other thing. As seen by the egg, he had a hard time thinking what to do. He, in a long time, didn’t want to be catalyst for something to happen. Not when he in the moment could have stopped it. So doing this act for himself ones, was a good decisions, since they clearly weren’t ready for war
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Part of the Story
Outside of the story:
Let’s all just get something “straight”. What would Dream SMP without Tommyinnit. Now. Don’t get me wrong. All the creators on the SMP are amazing. They are all wonderful and deserve every bit of Attention and fame they get. But just imagine.
We heard from Tubbo, he was the one, who got him into the SMP. Schlatt and Wilbur came because of a “visit”. Quackity was added because TOMMY said he was bored. And from that, we got somewhat of a tree system. As Tommy was invited and drawn into conflict by Sapnap (shoutout to best boy!), he got more people.
He also has the highest viewership and kind of shortest streams, since he is doing college next to Youtube and Streaming. He can’t give up his high viewers since all of those 200.000 (average) – closing 650.000 People (doing something like a big lore stream in prison or the disc final), choose to watch him.
Also a reminder again, Tommy has his storyline as does everyone else. When we saw Tommy and Techno during the partner up arc doing something with the dogs, they saw the start of the red vines arc BUT said they were on the wrong storyline. Tommy was asked by the eggpire writers if he wanted to be a part of the story and he said yes. Why do you think he nearly says nothing about the egg. He leaves it to the writers. Also, it was said by one of Wilbur’s Character descriptions, that Tommy was okay with others doing something with his character, while Techno was more reluctant with his.
Let me say it again, every creator is awesome and individual! Nobody should be compared to others. But with Tommy coming to the Dream SMP, there really was a change in the game.
Remember, that’s because we also have a BT (before Tommy) and AT (after Tommy) Timestamp in the wiki!
Inside of the story:
Now, with Sapnap, Alyssa, Ponk and Tommy in the first ever big conflict its shown the importance. People assume Tommy is one of the conflict bringers, even though he was dragged in it by having something stolen by Sapnap and then forced to fight with him, to get it back.
The Consequences he’s got where having his discs get stolen. This is what Tommy’s biggest character motivation was the first two seasons. Those discs are known on the server and when you think about gifting something to C!Tommy, it would be a disc.
Techno = Disc Wait
Badboyhalo = Disc Pigstep, Chirp
HBomb = Disc Pigstep, Wait
Tubbo = Stal
LazarBeam = Far
Tommy is a openminded boy who longs for funny little adventures and pranks, since he is just a young person. It’s in his nature.
So why, when he does something, are people looking on him?
Because the things he was and is a part of some of the biggest events. And him being so loud and brave and rash lets him stand out. If you look at the old (hah) Revolution of L’Manburg, who can you hear talking the most and the loudest? Tommy and Dream. They were the most outgoing about the war with Sapnap, Tubbo and Wilbur following. Fundy was more quieter (thankfully he has so much more lore now).
Tommy’s character is known to fall or be dragged head first in almost every conflict. He has connections to who? Mostly everybody. So of course he’s connected big parts to the stories.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Powers
Okay. Every “main” character or character with huge importance to the story has some kind of power. Looking at Dream, who is a “demigod” or Ranboo who I don’t even have to talk about. So what about Tommy?
Well. He doesn’t have any. Tommyinnit is one of the people, we get to have as an “human” character
Hannah = nature “Spirit”
Karl Jacobs = Timetraveller
Antfrost, Technoblade, Ranboo, Fundy = Hybrids
Dream = Something something green blob
Awesamdude, Puffy, Philza, Sapnap, Eret, Schlatt = Adding Features (wings, eyes, body parts)
Badboyhalo, Skeppy = completely different species apparently
Tommy has, as we know of the moment, a not confirmed power. The assumptions of the egg are not clear, since we haven’t seen those interact in a while. All we know is, Tommy didn’t get hurt, destroying a part and not feeling anything, while being in contact. That in canon considered.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Flaws
As talked before in personality and also in an assumption, we see the pattern of loyalty and brashness repeating.
Flaws are the most important parts of a character. It shows the struggle of their adventure and learning how to live with it.
Percy Jackson learned loyalty is nothing, if you don’t have someone to project it on.
Harry Potter and Luke Skywalker learned being a hot head didn’t really bring him forward and it’s important to have a plan
Frodo Beutlin learned that it is okay taking care of yourself and what attachment means
Anakin Skywalker learned fear is controllable and it shouldn’t be a remaining part of your life
Tommy learned over the time that his rashness could hurt others, loyalty couldn’t come back to him like he gave it out and he learns even more in the coming future.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Relationships
Tommy’s relationships is a mess of strings. Some are badly knotted and some are very clear.
A characters connections is an important part for the character himself.
Relationships in life are
· Enemies(-figure)
Relationships are a part of everyone’s life. Not with everybody is a good relationship holdable. Either it’s because their hurting each other or another person. People change and that’s a part of life.
Tommy realized, even tho it hurt, that Techno wasn’t good for his mental state and health. It went against everything Tommy ever stood for.
And Tommy and Tubbo’s relationship wasn’t really that broken. It’s normal for friends to fight. Normal for them hit their heads in. Tommy and Tubbo were surrounded with people who were, at the time, a terrible addition to their mental life.
The Dream SMP doesn’t talk it out, hell the talking club was just destroyed because they preferred fists over words. So why do you think everything is going out with a fight, if it’s all they learned.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Priced Possessions
Every character has to something a connection.
Might it be Percy Jackson and his sword
Might it be Harry with his glasses, broomstick and wand
Frodo and his stupid ring
For Tommy we all know it’s his ender chest inside and secret chest. He keeps many belongings in his chests and always has been one for those things. He kept flowers, compasses, Friendship signs and most importantly, his discs.
The care for something of items are important. Might it be a teddy, old photo or jewelry. People get protective over it, because it holds sentimental value to the person.
If you ask me, to let go of my teddy bear, I will show you my middle finger. Probably beat you up too.
You can’t just throw out your memories into a fire or pit of lava. This is just showing you never had a care and everything you had a memory with it before would have been gone.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
History/Backstory
We don’t have much here, but still something to work with.
A Hero doesn’t have an easy live. And it’s an said thing that every Hero needs an origin Story.
Tommy, said not really anything about his past.
All we know is that Tommy didn’t have anyone, presumably an Orphan, he knew the sleepy bois already a long time ago and he never learned on how to ride a bike, saying he never really had a family.
Signs that he didn’t even leave half a good life are:
· his knowledge on stealing and preferring this over working for it
· Liking to live in weird spaces like carved out holes in sides of hills (his hobbit hole or the basement by Techno) or living in his tent over a hole house
· His liking of cobblestone and dirt, which are easy gettable blocks
· Holding his goodies and friends close to him
· Craving for attention or contact in general
And now for the part with the dream SMP.
We saw how it changed him. We saw his trauma and all the bad things that happened to him.
And that’s why we say his actions came from those past experiences and things. We are NOT excusing them, but showing. Past trauma CHANGES a person. It brings experience and a heavy amount of pain and anger. ESPECIALLY at a young age, you will change due to your experience in life. You will grow worried and anxious. Tommy did that. He grew more anxious, angry, scared and also experienced.
Stop saying trauma doesn’t explain it. Yes. It does. His lashing out came from his past and negative experience. Imagine growing up in a world where this is the norm. War and banishing. As well as death. Tommy has reasons why he is acting and does stuff.
Understand it. You don’t have to forgive him or anything. But understand it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The moral and the story the character tells us
When we see Tommy, we see a boy who went nearly through it all. Mental/Physical Abuse, Abandonment, War, Suicidal thoughts, betrayal, Death, etc…
He doesn’t show forgiveness for his abuser. Still has signs, that he fights with the past abuse, but he tells us a story of learning from past mistakes, that even in the darkest hours, there’s a way out. Things will, can and be ugly and those are dark hours, but in no way should you think that it’s over. Life is more than one way and can always turn into a new direction.
Life takes something old away from you. Life gives you something new. You lose someone, you find someone new. Friends can turn into enemies. Enemies can turn into friends. You can meet the weirdest people. You can meet the most amazing people. You can be alone and in the next second, you’re not. You will often lose, but you also can win if you give everything.
Life can be weird and that’s okay.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My Fazit (that’s german)
The thing is, he is very real for many viewers such as myself. He acts like how many teenagers his age reacts.
He doesn’t be “baby”, because he shows the “ugly” sides of trauma. He shows that attachments are good and you shouldn’t forgive your abuser. In no way. He shows that acting out and lashing out are two things that happen, when you have been in wars for many times and nearly just know that.
He has many flaws and mistakes but those make him even more real. He is showing how he is growing.
As a person, friend, (pseudo-)family.
He is real to many of the viewer since he doesn’t have any powers that are existing in our world to solve their problems. He knows that nobody would have helped him and Tubbo against Dream if he didn’t pay others.
Also that you can’t be friends with everyone and that it’s okay that not everybody likes you.
Tommy´s character is the most human and realistic character in a way of how we would react. We are humans who are lashing out and who are having ugly sides.
And also please stop saying that, since I really can relate to Tommy and I don’t want to be feeling like a “bad-written Character”…
And Don’t even get me started on Tommy’s acting dude!
He is one of the best actors and that one livestreams! In from off 200.000 – 600.000 People!
On the face cam alone is so much to see…
· You can see his face with each emotion shifting,
· when something funnily weird happens, he looks dead eyes in the camera
The voice acting…
· His breathing,
· the stuttering in his voice,
· THE GODDAMN EMOTIONS IN HIS FACE
HIS MUSIC CHOICE!
· He changes the music fitting for the situations as in fighting scenes or funny moments.
· He also has some funny bits with his music.
· Like a goddam DJ!
The ingame character
· His movements and head stares
· The jumping around when he gets overactive
· Long stops when he thinks or is sad!
You can see, I am a person from Tumblr and saw way too much bullshit around tommys character.
Stop critiquing him so badly.
You could say, I woke up and chose violence
10 Lessons on Realistic Worldbuilding and Mapmaking I Learned Working With a Professional Cartographer and Geodesist
Hi, fellow writers and worldbuilders,
It’s been over a year since my post on realistic swordfighting, and I figured it’s time for another one. I’m guessing the topic is a little less “sexy”, but I’d find this useful as a writer, so here goes: 10 things I learned about realistic worldbuilding and mapmaking while writing my novel.
I’ve always been a sucker for pretty maps, so when I started on my novel, I hired an artist quite early to create a map for me. It was beautiful, but a few things always bothered me, even though I couldn’t put a finger on it. A year later, I met an old friend of mine, who currently does his Ph.D. in cartography and geodesy, the science of measuring the earth. When the conversation shifted to the novel, I showed him the map and asked for his opinion, and he (respectfully) pointed out that it has an awful lot of issues from a realism perspective.
First off, I’m aware that fiction is fiction, and it’s not always about realism; there are plenty of beautiful maps out there (and my old one was one of them) that are a bit fantastical and unrealistic, and that’s all right. Still, considering the lengths I went to ensure realism for other aspects of my worldbuilding, it felt weird to me to simply ignore these discrepancies. With a heavy heart, I scrapped the old map and started over, this time working in tandem with a professional artist, my cartographer friend, and a linguist. Six months later, I’m not only very happy with the new map, but I also learned a lot of things about geography and coherent worldbuilding, which made my universe a lot more realistic.
1) Realism Has an Effect: While there’s absolutely nothing wrong with creating an unrealistic world, realism does affect the plausibility of a world. Even if the vast majority of us probably know little about geography, our brains subconsciously notice discrepancies; we simply get this sense that something isn’t quite right, even if we don’t notice or can’t put our finger on it. In other words, if, for some miraculous reason, an evergreen forest borders on a desert in your novel, it will probably help immersion if you at least explain why this is, no matter how simple.
2) Climate Zones: According to my friend, a cardinal sin in fantasy maps are nonsensical climate zones. A single continent contains hot deserts, forests, and glaciers, and you can get through it all in a single day. This is particularly noticeable in video games, where this is often done to offer visual variety (Enderal, the game I wrote, is very guilty of this). If you aim for realism, run your worldbuilding by someone with a basic grasp of geography and geology, or at least try to match it to real-life examples.
3) Avoid Island Continent Worlds: Another issue that is quite common in fictional worlds is what I would call the “island continents”: a world that is made up of island-like continents surrounded by vast bodies of water. As lovely and romantic as the idea of those distant and secluded worlds may be, it’s deeply unrealistic. Unless your world was shaped by geological forces that differ substantially from Earth’s, it was probably at one point a single landmass that split up into fragmented landmasses separated by waters. Take a look at a proper map of our world: the vast majority of continents could theoretically be reached by foot and relatively manageable sea passages. If it weren’t so, countries such as Australia could have never been colonized – you can’t cross an entire ocean on a raft.
4) Logical City Placement: My novel is set in a Polynesian-inspired tropical archipelago; in the early drafts of the book and on my first map, Uunili, the nation’s capital, stretched along the entire western coast of the main island. This is absurd. Not only because this city would have been laughably big, but also because building a settlement along an unprotected coastline is the dumbest thing you could do considering it directly exposes it to storms, floods, and, in my case, monsoons. Unless there’s a logical reason to do otherwise, always place your coastal settlements in bays or fjords.
Naturally, this extends to city placement in general. If you want realism and coherence, don’t place a city in the middle of a godforsaken wasteland or a swamp just because it’s cool. There needs to be a reason. For example, the wasteland city could have started out as a mining town around a vast mineral deposit, and the swamp town might have a trading post along a vital trade route connecting two nations.
5) Realistic Settlement Sizes: As I’ve mentioned before, my capital Uunili originally extended across the entire western coast. Considering Uunili is roughly two thirds the size of Hawaii the old visuals would have made it twice the size of Mexico City. An easy way to avoid this is to draw the map using a scale and stick to it religiously. For my map, we decided to represent cities and townships with symbols alone.
6) Realistic Megacities: Uunili has a population of about 450,000 people. For a city in a Middle Ages-inspired era, this is humongous. While this isn’t an issue, per se (at its height, ancient Alexandria had a population of about 300,000), a city of that size creates its own set of challenges: you’ll need a complex sewage system (to minimize disease spreading like wildfire) and strong agriculture in the surrounding areas to keep the population fed. Also, only a small part of such a megacity would be enclosed within fantasy’s ever-so-present colossal city walls; the majority of citizens would probably concentrate in an enormous urban sprawl in the surrounding areas. To give you a pointer, with a population of about 50,000, Cologne was Germany’s biggest metropolis for most of the Middle Ages. I’ll say it again: it’s fine to disregard realism for coolness in this case, but at least taking these things into consideration will not only give your world more texture but might even provide you with some interesting plot points.
7) World Origin: This point can be summed up in a single question: why is your world the way it is? If your novel is set in an archipelago like mine is, are the islands of volcanic origin? Did they use to be a single landmass that got flooded with the years? Do the inhabitants of your country know about this? Were there any natural disasters to speak of? Yes, not all of this may be relevant to the story, and the story should take priority over lore, but just like with my previous point, it will make your world more immersive.
8) Maps: Think Purpose! Every map in history had a purpose. Before you start on your map, think about what yours might have been. Was it a map people actually used for navigation? If so, clarity should be paramount. This means little to no distracting ornamentation, a legible font, and a strict focus on relevant information. For example, a map used chiefly for military purposes would naturally highlight different information than a trade map. For my novel, we ultimately decided on a “show-off map” drawn for the Blue Island Coalition, a powerful political entity in the archipelago (depending on your world’s technology level, maps were actually scarce and valuable). Also, think about which technique your in-universe cartographer used to draw your in-universe map. Has copperplate engraving already been invented in your fictional universe? If not, your map shouldn’t use that aesthetic.
9) Maps: Less Is More. If a spot or an area on a map contains no relevant information, it can (and should) stay blank so that the reader’s attention naturally shifts to the critical information. Think of it this way: if your nav system tells you to follow a highway for 500 miles, that’s the information you’ll get, and not “in 100 meters, you’ll drive past a little petrol station on the left, and, oh, did I tell you about that accident that took place here ten years ago?” Traditional maps follow the same principle: if there’s a road leading a two day’s march through a desolate desert, a black line over a blank white ground is entirely sufficient to convey that information.
10) Settlement and Landmark Names: This point will be a bit of a tangent, but it’s still relevant. I worked with a linguist to create a fully functional language for my novel, and one of the things he criticized about my early drafts were the names of my cities. It’s embarrassing when I think about it now, but I really didn’t pay that much attention to how I named my cities; I wanted it to sound good, and that was it. Again: if realism is your goal, that’s a big mistake. Like Point 5, we went back to the drawing board and dove into the archipelago’s history and established naming conventions. In my novel, for example, the islands were inhabited by indigenes called the Makehu before the colonization four hundred years before the events of the story; as it’s usually the case, all settlements and islands had purely descriptive names back then. For example, the main island was called Uni e Li, which translates as “Mighty Hill,” a reference to the vast mountain ranges in the south and north; townships followed the same example (e.g., Tamakaha meaning “Coarse Sands”). When the colonizers arrived, they adopted the Makehu names and adapted them into their own language, changing the accented, long vowels to double vowels: Uni e Li became “Uunili,” Lehō e Āhe became “Lehowai.” Makehu townships kept their names; colonial cities got “English” monikers named after their geographical location, economic significance, or some other original story. Examples of this are Southport, a—you guessed it—port on the southernmost tip of Uunili, or Cale’s Hope, a settlement named after a businessman’s mining venture. It’s all details, and chances are that most readers won’t even pay attention, but I personally found that this added a lot of plausibility and immersion.
I could cover a lot more, but this post is already way too long, so I’ll leave it at that—if there’s enough interest, I’d be happy to make a part two. If not, well, maybe at least a couple of you got something useful out of this. If you’re looking for inspiration/references to show to your illustrator/cartographer, the David Rumsey archive is a treasure trove. Finally, for anyone who doesn’t know and might be interested, my novel is called Dreams of the Dying, and is a blends fantasy, mystery, and psychological horror set in the universe of Enderal, an indie RPG for which I wrote the story. It’s set in a Polynesian-inspired medieval world and has been described as Inception in a fantasy setting by reviewers.
Credit for the map belongs to Dominik Derow, who did the ornamentation, and my friend Fabian Müller, who created the map in QGIS and answered all my questions with divine patience. The linguist’s name is David Müller (no, they’re not related, and, yes, we Germans all have the same last names.)
Savathun's Trip to the Last City
Now that we have a clearer picture of what’s going on with Savathun I decided to compile the last year’s worth of her POV lore pieces together.
This is super long, and has spoilers for Path of the Splicer VI / Beneath the Endless Night VII, so I’m putting it under a cut.
Credit to @xivuuarath for reading through this and adding some of their ideas! We talked about more beyond what’s posted here, but this is getting long, so maybe that would be better saved for a part two.
1. Traveler's Chosen (Season of Arrivals)
This piece is told from the POV of a narrator viewing the events through an "ossific den". Based on later lore pieces, I'm certain the narrator is Savathun. Given that ahamkara bones have been compromised by her, and that Shaxx has an ahamkara skull slung up in his station, it’s safe to assume this is Sav’s vantage point.
That said, I don't believe Savathun is observing Shaxx, but rather Zavala, struggling in the wake of the Darkness' encroachment on the system and his colleagues' refusals to evacuate to safety. She seems pleased to find Zavala in a desperate state, and watches as he has a silent conversation with the Traveler. Of note is that she's waiting for it to respond.
He waits for a response and I do as well, tense, curious. [ . . . ] It is no time at all for me, but for him, the hours creep by in silence.
I am ready to choke the voice of his Traveler if it answers him, but there is nothing.
2. Harbinger Mission (Season of the Hunt)
Thank you to @xivuuarath for pointing this out since I didn’t include it the first time around. During the Harbinger mission Savathun’s forces are attempting to secure a Shard of the Traveler in the EDZ. Of note is that they aren’t trying to destroy it, but rather siphon the Light from it.
Given that the Shard of the Traveler is what allowed our Guardian to jumpstart their Light when they lost it during the Red War, and is what allowed Uldren Sov to break into the Dreaming City during the events of Forsaken, we can assume it’s useful to lightbearers and mortals alike. Make note of this, because it becomes potentially relevant later on.
2.5. Hawkmoon (Season of the Hunt)
From an unknown vantage point, Savathun watches The Guardian and Crow celebrate their defeat of her Taken at the Shard of the Traveler. Unlike Zavala, she can find no weak points in Crow or the Guardian, only happiness. This awakens something in her.
What is this feeling? I did not ask for it. I do not understand it. I do not want it.
Which gets repeated throughout the lore piece. This is our first glimpse of Savathun having feelings that don't fall into the range of "malevolence" or "plotting". She yearns for her youth with her siblings and the warmth of her old life, and feels burgeoning regret for the people she betrayed.
There is a growing kinship here. Against better judgment.
This is ambiguous enough to be a comment on Crow’s and The Guardian’s relationship, or herself and The Guardian and/or Crow. She's called us her friend before but this might be the first time she's actually had friendly feelings for us.
3. Books of Sorrow: New Verse (Season of the Hunt)
This hasn't actually been posted on Ishtar Collective and I'm too lazy to track down a transcript online, so pardon the source. There's a lot to unpack here.
I walk in a city made of delicate hopes.
Savathun has moved beyond occupying ahamkara bones and is actually physically present.
I hear my name everywhere. [. . .] The sound is nourishment.
Imbaru machine on-line?
I am more than I ever was, and less than I will ever be.
Make note of this line.
I am many and none. I'm a man who sits alone in a cavernous office counting my failures. I'm a woman looking at a silent god. I'm a lost soul on a cold moon. I'm a broken mirror of a man who tries to steer the ship.
Comparing (?) herself to Zavala, Ikora, Eris, and back to Zavala again?
I'm a familiar stranger, flitting between them all, hiding my face.
Again, I think she's speaking literally here.
The people here are small krill dwarfed by the enormity of oblivion.
A neat little comparison of humanity with the krill, who we established in her last appearance she's beginning to feel regret for.
4. Retrofuturist (Season of the Chosen)
Savathun watches a Crucible match, and judges Guardians for being reckless with the gift of immortality. The tone of this piece reinforces the idea she is actually out and about in a corporeal form.
I'm mostly interested in her perspective on Ghosts here. She calls them "A perfect being", and describes their ability to revive the dead as miraculous. She isn't happy that the spectators don't appreciate the gravity of this. Weird sentiment for a hive but ok.
I look up into the blank white face. I feel its Light on my cheeks. It no longer burns me.
The Hive are repelled by the Light. Savathun has grown to tolerate it. Something has changed in her metaphysical composition.
@xivuuarath made the excellent observation that she might have been at least partially successful in the Harbinger mission - that she may have secured enough Light to build up an immunity, allowing her to be physically present in the City without being hurt by the Traveler.
Each revival is a choice. I know what to do.
Tuck this away for a moment.
5. Beneath the Endless Night: VII - Ripe (Season of the Splicer)
Okay this whole page is insane so excuse the massive infodump here.
I walk through the City on broken legs. I am conspicuous, but the people here grant me many affordances. I chose this form well.
Confirmation that our girl is actually bumping about in a human-form.
I open my eyes and search the faces of the people around me for familiarity. I did not mean to. I twist inwardly with disgust.
She's sympathizing with the humans of the City. She does not like this, but she is!
When they first reached for me, I reached back in acid mockery, and they opened themselves to me in stupid, naked innocence. I was giddy. My fingers raked their minds. I forced my will through them using only words and met no resistance.
Now I reach as often as they do, and when they reach back, I am thankful. I speak with them. I seek their company. Their companionship.
In case it wasn’t obvious already, Savathun has been running a psy-op on the residents of the Last City, which may explain some of the particularly erratic and troubling behavior from individuals / groups this season.
However the interesting thing is, while Sav used her powers of suggestion to manipulate, the humans unknowingly manipulated her in return. Not through any magic - simply through their kindness.
Savathun is doing more than observing the people of the Last City, she is living with them, getting to know them. Savathun is making friends and it’s literally changing her.
This is not pity, for I know pity. What is this—
A call back to the Hawkmoon lore with her trying to make sense of budding positive feelings.
I clench the gangling black mass that threatens to unspool recklessly from within this shell of flesh. My new arms are too thin, too weak. My new shell still bound with thick mucus. Not yet, I say.
I suspect that the “new shell” she talks about here is not her human-form, but rather something else growing inside it.
A man places his hands on me, on my shoulders, on my back. He asks if I am ill, and he sees my flat eyes, my teeth black with ripeness, and he prepares to scream. I let him keep his mind. I push breath up and through my ruined mouth and speak a simple lie. He stops, smiles, laughs. Shakes his head. He points a finger at me in mocking admonishment before walking away.
A few things to unpack here.
Savathun is physically deteriorating... badly. @xivuuarath pointed out that the body horror of this particular scene mirrors the Emissary’s description of a world with no darkness and creatures that are incapable of death even as they physically fall apart, and if you follow that line of thinking you may infer that she’s forcing herself to live through light alone.
She's approachable enough that some rando would see her in trouble and want to help her, reinforcing the point that she's been wandering about the City and vibing with its residents.
She could have done worse to the good samaritan but chooses not to. She does her mind trick and lets him go about his business. She’s showing mercy... which is something we know the hive absolutely must not do at the risk of being consumed by their worm.
Even here, basted in deception both ample and rich, the Worm cries ravenously. It has grown grotesque, skin taut, overfed, and still it howls for more. It commands me to keep it alive.
I look up, beyond the flickering net of darkness, and see what rests just beyond. Waiting for me. The Worm roars.
NOT DISCONCERTINGLY AMBIGUOUS AT ALL that we don't know if the worm is roaring in terror, pleading or triumph.
TL;DR of what I think is going on.
Savathun came to the City to destabilize it through manipulation, but could not be physically present until she hardened herself to the Light. Camouflaging herself in a human form, she spent time with the residents of the City, and found herself manipulated in return by their kindness. She's resisting the positive emotions, but they're there, which is something we've never seen between hive and humans before. You can't have a crisis of conscience if you don't have a conscience, and Savathun does.
I think Savathun is trying to shed her current form and be reborn in some capacity. I think she's going to try to use the Light to rid herself of the Worm and bootstrap herself into something new. If you'd asked me before reading this lore, I would have insisted that she wanted to become a thought-entity, but the cocoon-like imagery makes me second-guess this assumption.
There are outstanding questions at this point.
Why did she want to prevent Eris and/or The Guardian from communicating with the Darkness in Season of Arrivals? Is there a purpose to the Endless Night beyond eroding willpower and sowing division? Is she trying to save only herself, or attempt to undo the millennia-old injustice she inflicted on her people?
#destiny#destiny spoilers#savathun#hive#beneath the endless nightblogging#im glad ttp now has a challenger for lore pieces for me to obsess over.
A,B,E (re-adding Thanikos does NOT count),H,J,O,V , please? I could ask you all of it but that would be too much <3
This got long, so I'm putting it under the cut <3 Thank you for the ask :D
A - Ships that you currently like a lot. (They don’t have to be OTPs because not everyone has OTPs.) Friendships, pairings, threesomes, etc. are allowed.
As far as platonic pairings go, Theotar and Pelagos being friends, Lady Moonberry and Theotar being friends. I want to see Theotar in his corner sharing tea with both of them, just talking and laughing.
I love Vole x Maw Walker friendships, too.
I like the idea of Draven, Adrestes, Alexandros, and Korayn being complete military nerds together during Ember Courts (even if you can't invite them all at once, which is a sin). Like the Maw Walker and Theotar go over to tell them they are being antisocial by sticking to their little corner, and they are just completely nerding out about different battle strategies to the point that whoever came to draw them out can't bear to drag them away.
Then there's Liila x Adrestes and Pelodis x Maw Walker (that I will probably never write about, but I love him so much). And Clora x Sophone. <3 And Pallessa x Achillon. I love all of them.
If they are in Bastion or Revendreth, I love their relationships >.>
B - A pairing–platonic, romantic or sexual–that you initially didn’t consider, but someone changed your mind.
I originally thought Accuser/Nadjia would be a cute couple, but then someone--at this point I don't remember who--sold me on Accuser/Curator.
And then there's Nikolon/Pelagos, Mevix/Thales, and Devos/Thenios.
E - Have you added anything cracky/hilarious to your fandom? If so, what?
I think Mer-Draven counts as crack to fandom >.>
And Then there's The Uther Debate.
And Grandmaster Vole Smut.
And of course, whatever this is:
H - What is your favorite source text for fandom stuff (e.g., TV shows, movies, books, anime, Western animation, etc.)?
Honestly, Tumblr Batman. I know it's not a 'real' source, but it's my favorite Batman ever.
But I think I prefer video games as a general source text. I like that you can unlock lore and whatnot by exploring and paying attention, by eavesdropping on little side character conversations and finding obscure items with interesting descriptions.
That's how I know the dredgers believe in reincarnation, despite not having souls, and that apparently a dredger's natural state is to be rotting.
J - Name a fandom you didn’t think about until you saw it all over Tumblr. (You don’t have to care about it or follow it; it just has to be something that Tumblr made you aware of.)
Omg so many. Homestuck, Steven Universe, Owl House to name a few. The ones I've actually gotten into were What We Do In The Shadows and Spy x Family.
O - Choose a song at random. Which ship or character does it remind you of?
My random thing got The Thunder Rolls by Garth Brooks, but the nearest I could get any vibes for was Devos with that one, even though that doesn't make much sense? I mean, she did feel betrayed by the Archon, though it wasn't in a romantic way, and in the 3rd verse (which is surprisingly hard to find on youtube), the wife commits murder, which Devos very much tried to do, so. Also, I like associating Devos with thunder.
V - Which character do you relate to most?
I've made joke posts, but Adrestes having to be told to go have fun and being a bit of a serious stick in the mud is Very Relatable™
Also Pelagos wanting to do things right and progress, but still fucking stuff up, but also being capable in his own way--something that others don't necessarily see--is something I can relate to a LOT.
And then there's Cullen Rutherford from DA. Him knowing he needs to deal with his trauma and wanting to do better, despite not being quite there really meant a lot to me, especially when DAI came out, because I was at that point in my own trauma, wanting to be better but not quite knowing how to get past the fears.
Hey, how do you and other Krexie shippers work around the age gap? I mean, I ship Krexie and have my own headcanons, but I'm curious to see what others have done.
I feel like I answered this before several months ago, but I don’t feel like finding that post so I’ll answer again. The full answer to your question is a short essay (and that’s without including the footnotes) so I’m gonna put it under a cut. This is based upon my own experience in the fandom, and the krexie circles I frequent are the ones on FFN, AO3, and of course, here on tumblr. Abuse and grooming (in the context of real people) will be talked about below the cut.
TL;DR I’ve seen three main ways of dealing with the age gap: ignoring it, aging Krel up, and aging Douxie down.
Ignore It
This one actually encompasses two different methods. The first of the two is to treat one or both of the boys’ ages as nebulous, with the maturity level of “teenager” and nothing more explicit since Douxie is about nine centuries old and Akiridion royals live for centuries Krel’s exact age is unknown. In this case, the age of one or both of the boys won’t be mentioned aside from being hundereds of years old. In addition, at least on Douxie’s end, this is somewhat canon. Fun fact: Douxie never calls himself a college student, and neither does Archie. Likewise, neither of them call Douxie 19. That was Steve, who deserved far better of a character arc than just to be the idiot that he is in Wizards. However, even though he deserved better Steve is not a reliable source of information on Douxie’s age, but Douxie and Archie are. In Wizards, the only information Douxie and Archie give on Douxie’s age is that he’s about nine centuries old.[1]
The other method of ignoring the ages is to treat Douxie as a 19-year-old (ignoring the immortality) and Krel as a 16-year-old, and to mention one or both of their ages. Their ages are ignored due to one or both of the following reasons: for one, in real life a three year gap between teenagers doesn’t automatically mean the older person is a predator. It’s something to be cautious about, and the younger person really needs to have people they can trust since if the relationship does turn toxic they would have less power and thus be in more danger (usually, though it is possible for the younger person to be more dangerous to the older one), but that doesn’t automatically mean something bad will happen. The other reason to ignore the boys’ ages is because honestly? If someone needs non-canon ships to tell them which relationships are healthy and which ones are dangerous, then their parents/guardians and teachers have failed them. Fanfic authors, fanartists, and other people creating/consuming fanworks on the internet are not responsible for educating random people on the internet. In fact, they and their content are not responsible for if a random person is abused, even if the abuser uses fanworks to groom the victim. It’s the fault of the abuser for being abusive.[2]
Out of these two methods, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen more using the former method of ignoring than the age gap than the latter.
Age Krel Up
This, again, has two different methods. The more common method is to have Krel (and the other Arcadia Oaks High students) age naturally, until they’re at an age that the fanwork creator is more comfortable with having krexie at. These types of fanworks take place years after the events of Wizards. The other method is to create an au where Krel (and likely the other Arcadia Oaks High students) were already the age the fanwork creator is more comfortable with when Douxie and Krel first met. I, personally, have created a lot of content for the first method, and I’ve seen other people use this method as well. My fake marriage au utilizes the latter method, and this method would also work for au’s where Douxie and Krel are both adults when they meet but the au does not follow canon.
Age Douxie Down
This one also has a basis in canon, though I haven’t seen any other krexie shipper use this method of dealing with the age gap. I, personally, use this whenever I want to make krexie content that’s compliant with Trollhunters and 3Below but also do not want to deal wit backwards time travel because I hate backwards time travel. However, someone should write an au where Douxie and Krel are human high schoolers whose biggest problem is being gay for the guy attending your rival school.
Now, while Douxie and Archie gave Douxie the vague age of about 900 years old and Steve made the assumption that Douxie was a 19-year-old college student, Trollhunters actually went out of its way to show that Douxie was a high school student.
In season two episode 10, Mary reveals that she was dating a student from Arcadia Oaks Academy, and Eli remarked that that was their rival school. I was in high school when Trollhunters was airing, and let me tell you: high schools do not have rivalries with colleges. Arcadia Oaks Academy would have to be a high school, or maybe a k-12 or 6-12. However, it’s far more likely that Arcadia Oaks Academy is a high school with the same age range of students as Arcadia Oaks High. In season three episode 1, Mary excitedly tells Claire that a student from Arcadia Oaks Academy is at Arcadia Oaks High. This student is Douxie, and unless I’m remembering wrong he also mentions attending the Academy. Unless Mary knew all along that Douxie was a wizard and was trying to give him a cover story for why he was hanging out at Arcadia Oaks High only for this information about Mary to be cut from Wizards due to time constraints, there is absolutely no reason for Mary to lie about Douxie’s age to Claire. The fact that Douxie was considered to be a high schooler by most of the fandom (some people had been on the train of “he’s a centuries old adult” for a long time) is why the krexie fanworks created pre-Wizards are all treating Douxie like a high schooler. (Yes, people shipped krexie (or at least consumed/produced fanworks for the ship) before Wizards came out. I have my fic on AO3/FFN and other people’s comments to prove it, as well as some fanart saved to my blog. Sadly, some of the people are now antis, and one them has now harassed at least one krexie shipper.)
Personally, when I age Douxie down, I age him down to 17. Only 17. Not 17-plus-several-centuries-without-aging. In-universe he may try to call himself 1492 years old, but he’s really just 17. However, as I mentioned before, if I’m aging him down to 17 then I’m also completely ignoring the backwards time travel aspects of Wizards. And, by doing that, I end up really changing the lore of Wizards. If you would like more information for the timeline I use when I age Douxie down, please refer to this ask.
In Conclusion
Thank you for reading this. These footnotes aren’t nearly as on topic and are more of a ramble.
[1] Re: Douxie having a really vague age of nine centuries. If you take enough chemistry and physics (but in my experience especially chemistry) courses, you will have it drilled into your head that 900 years old could really be anywhere from 850 to 949 years old. So, while 919 is definitely possible in the age range given by the age of “about 900″, it’s really a give-or-take number. However, if we truly want to be accurate, then if we choose to have Trollhunters take place in the 2016-2017 school year, choose to have had the moppet been between 16 and 19 years old at the Battle of Killahead Bridge, and we consider that the late 12th century (aka the time period of Wizards... supposedly, considering that it is not historically accurate) to be the latter half of that century, then Douxie would have to be somewhere between 834 and 886 years old. If we want a 16-year-old moppet and for the 900 years to be an accurate case of rounding, then the Battle of Killahead Bridge would have needed to be in 1183 at the earliest, which is accurate for the description of late twelfth century. If Douxie were to really be 919 in 2017, then the Battle of Killahead Bridge would have needed to take place somewhere from 1114 to 1117, aka the early twelfth century.
[2] Re: the argument that fanwork creators are not responsible for if an abuser uses their content to groom a victim. When I was a kid, the big scare was that strangers would lure off innocent children with candy. We were told not to go anywhere with a stranger, even if they had candy (or puppies, kittens, etc.) I don’t know how many kids have been hurt by strangers promising candy, nor do I know if this is something kids are still being warned about, but I do know that there isn’t some campaign against candy companies for daring to sell candy that an abuser would use against kids. This is because, as horrible as children being hurt is, it’s not the fault of the candy companies. It’s the fault of the abuser. And likewise, it’s not the fault of a fanwork creator if someone else uses their content to harm others.
PS: A side note since we’re discussing ages. I’ve been in this fandom for years, specifically on tumblr, AO3, and FFN as well as one of the discords. It wasn’t until the krexie discourse started that I started seeing people start calling Krel 14. I had seen people call him 15-16 in the past, because the fandom wasn’t sure if he and Aja were twins or had a minimum of a 9-month gap (assuming, of course, that Akiridions reproduce like humans do). That being said, before the discourse I never saw anyone treat Krel (or Aja, for that matter) like he had a canonical age. 14, however, seems to be something that stemmed from the wiki. You know, the same fan-run wiki that claims that Nomura’s full name is Zelda Nomura even though nowhere in the shows, books, games, or graphic novels is she ever called by that name. Yeah, the Arcadia Oaks-Pedia is not a reputable source. I’m going to give the wiki editors the benefit of Hanlon’s razor and hope that they were just going “well, since Krel is Aja’s younger brother and we’re assuming she’s 15-16 years old like the rest of the protagonists he must be 14-15 years old” and it was only after that that antis took the idea of Krel being 14 as canon and then ran off with it to be cruel and cause chaos.
I did some researches on the Beholders because of Lucien's eyes and I found out about the existence of the Beholder's god, an entity known as The Great Mother. Please click on Keep reading to lose your sleep as I did.
This is the personality of the Great Mother as described in the Forgotten Realms Wiki:
Those that studied the Great Mother typically concluded that she was completely insane, lacking in the ruthless logic possessed by mortal beholders. In truth, she was dangerously intelligent, the method behind her madness simply being beyond the ability of most beings to understand. Ironically, her mind wasn't even divided into two halves, like most beholders. Still, while not crazy or mindless, the Great Mother was a creature of utter chaos and capricious whimsy, acting primarily on instinct and impulse. Often times, the Great Mother philosophized to herself about the nature of chaos and evil and was rumored to be the greatest sage on the subjects. She was said to be omniscient and did possess exclusive hidden lore, but seemed to be so knowledgeable that she was incapable of sharing it with any but the most intelligent entities, much less inferior beings. Some scholars speculated that she was not unable to convey such knowledge, but simply wouldn't provide it to lower-lifeforms, and indeed the Great Mother was a jealous and egotistical intellectual that refused to acknowledge even the notion that she could be mistaken. Befitting the deity of eye tyrants, she was said to have her own strange standards for her creations and would destroy or devour any that she found displeasing.
The objectives of this entity and hers followers are described as such:
Aside from birthing more beholders, the Great Mother's only other activity was drifting enigmatically in solitude throughout reality, particularly in the darker planes. She inexorably cruised through space deep in thought, always incomprehensibly gibbering in an alien protolanguage while experiencing bizarre visions. The purpose of her aimless journey wasn't to gather knowledge or magical secrets since she believed that she already knew all that was worth knowing.
The Greyhawk Wiki gives this description of her dogma:
The Great Mother exists to remake the multiverse in its image by filling it with its spawn, replacing all forms of life with monsters that resemble the Mother itself. It does not bother to acquire knowledge, because it has always known all that it could ever need to know. However, it cannot or will not communicate this knowledge to lesser beings, including its own offspring. It neglects its children, not bothering with omens or portents. Sometimes it will allow beholders to be entirely wiped out on a given world, while other times it will become enraged when even a small beholder community is threatened.
1d4chan.org gives us this about the Great Mother not-beholder followers:
Ocular Adept is a prestige class for humanoid followers of the Great Mother. To become one, they first have to approach a Beholder and convince it not to eat or disintegrate them. After the hard part is over they enter into a surgical pact, where a Beholder-kin eyeball is implanted in their forehead. This provides them a link to the Great Mother's power and allows them to perform eyebeam attacks similar to true Beholders. [...] Ocular Adepts have a separate divine spellcasting progression up to level 5 spells, which is in line with that of a Cleric. However, the Great Mother grants more low-level spells than a Cleric and only a few high-level ones. This is because while the Great Mother is "happy" enough to accept followers from non-Beholder races, she prefers to reserve high level spell power for those who really deserve it.
I know the Somnovem is a hive-mind created by nine ancient wizards, but beside that, the similarities between what it is implied being their purpose, how they act and how they give powers to the mortals are too many to be ignored. After all, if Lucien's abilities are really inspired by Beholders, why can't the Somnovem being inspired by the very being behind the creation of the Beholders in the official D&D lore? Which is not a group of deranged philosophers, but an actual god? If that's the case, it means that Lucien is not as unique as he believes, and the Somnovem actually wants to create more beings like him, just like the Great Mother wants to create more Beholders to shape her ideal vision of reality.
This is my theory: the Somnovem is a hive-mind, and they give eyes to the people who read into their scripts or got touched by their stream of consciousness. But some people are strong enough to retain an autonomy and freely use the powers of the hive, and they have the potential to become a Nonagon, a sort of Avatar of the Somnovem. Strong of will or powerful enough to retain their full autonomy is hard to tell for now. Those who can't retain the autonomy become part of the mind-hive, sleeping agents for the Nonagon and the Somnovem to be used as they please. They retain autonomy most of the time, but they are mentally conditioned to execute the will of the Nonagon in case they need their help. But if a person strong enough to resist, they can decide to try and murder another Nonagon to have that power for themselves, like Vess DeRogna did. If this is the case, when a Nonagon dies the Somnovem doesn't even care: the previous Nonagon comes back to be part of the City, and the new, more powerful one executes their will just like the previous one did. But when Lucien died it was different: Lucien was willing to spread their knowledge and add more minds to their hive, but Vess DeRogna wasn't. She just wanted to reach them into the Astral Sea and that was it. So they decided to guide Cree and bring Lucien back to life once that Mollymauk Tealeaf died. They gave him the chance to get his revenge and complete his mission.
Vess DeRogna killing Lucien might be circumstantial, but it might as well be a side effect of the wish of the Nonagon to join the perfect mind of the Somnovem: a person able to retain autonomy might corrupt the Somnovem with their imperfect human mind who was graced by a power they can't comprehend, and therefore they need to be destroyed. This would be just like when two Beholders meet each other: they see themselves as perfect beings and the other as a loathsome impostor who needs to be eliminated. This only if they retain autonomy: if they are a part of the hive-mind they are nothing more than an extension of themselves, therefore there is no danger into letting them live.
What does that mean for Beau and Caleb? That they might be the Somnovem's plan B in case Lucien fails. One of them might be forced to become the new Nonagon unless the Mighty Nein don't stop the process in time (and Artagan confirmed that there is a way to invert the process, but they were not able to access it at Level 13). And they will have to do it: have you read the part above about the Ocular Adepts? What 1d4chan doesn't say is that the Great Mother can Disintegrate an Ocular Adept at any moment through their third eye if they displease her. But the Somnovem and the Nonagon seem to prefer blasting the brain with psychic energy, so probably if they have a way to kill someone from a long distance it might not be a potential permadeath. And it might not be activated until all the nine eyes will be implanted, which is unlikely to happen before the battle with Lucien in Aeor.
(If this fail-safe exists, why did the Somnovem let Vess DeRogna live if she was unworthy? Because if she died at the wrong time the book would have been lost, and there were no other Nonagons in charge because the Somnovem cult is so little known. They needed Lucien to be alive again to retrieve it and go in with their plan. And suddenly her dying from a single attack makes sense: that neck-lift blast is not powerful enough to kill a person unless something already weakened them before. It was Lucien and the Somnovem who killed her.)
Favorite place in The Last City(if it’s a place you created, give a little description!): The Hollow Cairn. This is a place where many once-invading species have attacked throughout history, and it has sunken into the ground since due to the massive destruction created over centuries. However, the place has since become a point of unity for everyone, with communities of Hive, Cabal, Humans, Eliksni, etc. all building shelters within the crater and living together. It’s a bustling district, and only because Magnus sacrificed so much of himself and his efforts to unify everyone.
5 things your Guardian dislikes(this can be anything): Dishonesty, disloyalty, feeling hopeless, giving up, loss
Your Guardian has to rest. What is their living space like: It’s well-managed, with a LOT of collectibles from all around the galaxy in display cases, organized on shelves and wall hangers, and on tables. Magnus loves to collect trinkets that have meaning to him.
Does your Guardian have any casual wear?(Y'all remember Polyvore? The website URSTYLE works very similar if that helps!):
What hobbies and/or skills does you Guardian have: Writing and reciting poetry, learning languages (speaks English, Ulurent, Eliksni all fluently), fighting, crafting armor, singing
What would your Guardian’s lore book be called: Broken Broker
Where was your Guardian reborn?(If you created the location, give us a little description!): Sector 25 in The Last City
What were they wearing when they were reborn: Scorched black cotton hoodie, worn-out black jeans, beat-up sneakers
What was their reaction to being reborn: FIGHT, AND DEFEND THE PEOPLE!!!
What was their reaction to their first rez: Sheer confusion, then immediate duty
After being reborn, did they meet friendlies first or hostiles: Both. He met Vex who were attacking and rampaging The Last City, but fought them and was then met by Zavala who’d come to handle the situation, only to see a new Guardian had already done this. Zavala saw the distress on Magnus’s face at this, and assured him over and over again.
Who was the first other Guardian they met?(Same thing! If you made them, give a little description!): Zavala
Did your Guardian get reborn with, or find, any indication of their past life? If so what do they have/found: Magnus has no indication of his past life, and knows nothing about it. He assumes he wasn’t Reefborn, but he partially wonders if he was just because of his vehement hatred for Mara Sov. Magnus can’t find anything on who he was, nor does he really care to know.
How did your Guardian get their name(if they didn’t rez with past life momentos): He knew/remembered it, and also Einar addressed him by “Magnus” when he was first revived and woke up.
Going back to your Guardian’s lore book, what would be some some quotes or passages from their book: Two passages are actually readable at my Ao3, dawnbreakerdystopia! Most of the lorebook passages would recount the tales of Magnus’s efforts to join the warring species of the galaxy together in unity, and would likely use the Hammer of Sol which he wields as a metaphor, leading those who read them to wonder if Magnus actually wielded it (he does). The passages would also recount the daring exploits he’s done to protect his friends, family, the training he put Ghaul through to be a strong and independent Guardian, and overall they’d just be written like poetic legends.
Does your Guardian have a significant other: Cayde-6, and they’re married.
Did your Guardian go explore first before going to The Last City? If so, where to: Magnus never explored until he was resurrected.
What was their reaction to first seeing The Last City: This place needs defenders.
Is your Guardian a part of a clan: Not officially. He’s sort of a part of every group regardless of whether he chooses to be or not. Life finds a way to drag him into them all.
Does your Guardian’s clan have a back story? If so, what is it?(if you want to or able to share): N/A
If your Guardian would have a quote as a flavor text for a weapon and/or piece of armor, what would they be: “I’ve got a thousand years on me, and for each year, a million lives. I can’t bear to sacrifice any one but my own.”
If your Guardian has had any interactions with any civilians (The Last City/The Farm), Eliksni, Cabal, Vex, Hive, Taken, Scorn, Rouge Lightbearers, or Iron Lords/War Lords(if your Guardian is an Old Light) tell us about it!: Magnus has unified Cabal and Humankind, mostly, because he was brought by the Traveler to Ghaul who was resurrected as a Guardian himself. He’s had plenty of rough encounters with them, but nowadays, they accept him as their Evocate General, and bend to his every command (Magnus NEVER abuses this). Magnus has had very few positive interactions with Hive, as Savathun and Oryx have constantly tried to seduce him with Darkness and ruin him. He struggles to trust Hive, but knows that there is good in everything just as there is bad, nothing is inherently evil, and thus, he has to and does accept Hive who are willing to be his allies. Magnus’s interactions with Eliksni have always been positive, and he’s always gotten along with them. Scorn and Vex, he has yet to meet any who’d be willing to work with him. Magnus personally hates the Vex entirely, but still holds out the belief that there is at least one out there who’s good and friendly.
Does your Guardian have any unconventional allies or connections(By Vanguard standards): PLENTY!!!! Ghaul, Spider, being Evocate General of Cabal, you name it.
How does your Guardian feel about themselves or others using Stasis: Magnus is against himself using it. He understands that others can make use of the power, but he HATES the Darkness, and would never trust a single thing from it, let alone a “gift” which would inevitably corrupt him, not to mention bring him nearer to it which he refuses to do.
Did they run The Last Wish raid? How did they react to seeing a live Ahamkara a.k.a Riven: Magnus has not run this raid yet.
Did they run The Deep Stone Crypt raid? How did they react to the Crypt and seeing Exo Eliskni: Magnus has not run this raid yet, either.
Is your Guardian from D1? How did they react to seeing Taniks alive once again: He’s not from D1
Where did they go and what did they do during The Red War: Magnus followed the main story, and was the only Lightbearer, thus he spearheaded the entire operation and literally held the fate of every single life on his shoulders and his alone. He fought, nonstop, and never gave up or slowed down.
Here are some characters that are either polarizing or have created a strong enough mass emotion within the community. What opinion does your Guardian hold on each of them(These are only a handful of characters!)>>>
Osiris, First Warlock Vanguard, originally exiled: Magnus looks up to Osiris for his wisdom, only a little, though, and he’d never tell Osiris this. Both of them know it, though, and words are not necessary to convey their mutual respect.
Eris Morn, Bane of the Swarm: He loves her, he wants to help her at all costs, and he knows to never pity Eris, or try protecting her without asking if she needs protection first, as she’s highly capable and strong-willed.
Cayde-6, Sixth Hunter Vanguard: Magnus is fucking head over HEELS for him, and would lay his life on the line for Cayde. He was devastated beyond words when Uldren killed him, but came to understand that it was the Darkness’s doing, not Uldren’s. And thus, he forgave him.
Ikora Rey, Second Warlock Vanguard: Mom. She’s just straight-up his mom.
Commander Zavala, Second Titan Vanguard: Mentor, dad-like friend, always reliable.
Saint-14, legendary Titan, First Titan Vanguard: Extreme respect, love, honors him deeply, aspires to be like him, MUST PROTECT!!!
Lord Saladin, Iron Banner handler, One of the last remaining Iron Lords: Indifferent. Magnus entirely disagrees with and somewhat hates what the Iron Lords did, but he senses good in Saladin and sees it as well. He holds onto that good, as he does for everything and everyone.
Lord Shaxx, Crucible handler, Hero of Twilight Gap, living megaphone: FRIEND!!! Always a good motivator, always reliable, selfless af which Magnus respects, and Magnus aspires to be so much like him. Is also slightly intimidated by Shaxx.
The Crow, New Light, Ex-Enforcer to The Spider: Friend, must be protected, is a new person and not Uldren, is capable of great things and must be guided to do just that. Magnus sees Crow follows his heart, and that’s more than enough for him to know this man is on the right path.
The Spider, The Shore’s Only Law, founder of “House” Spider: DAD!!! Spider adopted Magnus after (reluctantly at first) he went to Spider with a bounty from the Vanguard saying to kill him. Magnus knew this had to be a setup, it was, and Spider was immediately thankful, and then began calling Magnus his son. Both of them trust each other with everything and anything, and Magnus knows Spider is a good man at heart.
Uldren Sov, Prince of the Reef, Master of Crows: No. Don’t trust him, he’s misguided as FUCK!
Mara Sov, Queen of the Reef, Queen of the Awoken, Ex-Kell of Wolves: FUCK! YOU!!! Magnus would throw her off the throne and take it himself if he wasn’t so busy being Evocate General. He’d imprison her until her natural death. The things Mara has done, to the Awoken, the galaxy, and her brother, are unforgiveable, and she MUST pay for that.
Variks, the Loyal, founder of House Judgement: A friend, an ally, someone Magnus can rely on. He values Variks, even if he made mistakes in the past, but Magnus is a firm believer in destiny, and thus thinks Variks’s actions have been done for a reason which is to bring the world to the present it’s at.
Mithrax, the Forsaken, Kell of Light, founder of House Light: Absolutely reliable, always a good friend, Magnus will drop everything and go help protect Mithrax or aid him in his endeavors if he’s able. Magnus loves him as a close friend, and is deeply bound to House Light.
The Exo Stranger/Elizabeth “Elsie” Bray, Granddaughter of Clovis I and Sister to Ana Bray: Can be trusted, must be trusted, and Magnus also takes pity on her for what she went through both in the future, and by the hands of Clovis Bray.
Eramis, of House Salvation, Kell of Darkness: FUCK NOPE, don’t trust, avoid at all costs.
Empress Caiatl of the Cabal Imperial Empire: An ally and definitely trustable. Her motives are questionable, but Magnus understands where she’s coming from, and therefore believes she can be a great companion with some compromise.
Taniks the Scarred, the Perfected, the Abomination, the Shadow Thief: Nooooooooooooo get away get away get away GET AWAY!!!
The Darkness is fast approaching. How is your Guardian handling it: A N X I E T Y! !! !!!! ! !! But Magnus is taking action, fighting it head-on and never backing down for even a moment. He refuses to let the Darkness take hold, and aims to destroy it entirely once and for all.
And finally, does your Guardian have any advice for any New Lights: “The Darkness is a lie, but the Light is true. Nobody can see in the shadows of night, so it’s your duty as a Guardian to eclipse the world in endless sun, and create a world everyone can see within and beyond.”
Supernatural: The Sullivan Series Masterlist
S1E03 “Black Dog” Masterlist
Nashville, Tennessee December 3rd, 2005 - Present Day
With a sigh, Sam gets off the bus. The rain beats down on him straight away, but instead of being annoyed by it, he finds it refreshing. Finally, he’s in Nashville. It’s taken him three days to get here. Three days of torture - which included waiting for his damn transport to arrive in the first place, being forced in a seat made for someone who is 4’8, and having to change twice to get to his final destination - but he’s in Nashville.
Of course, he could have hopped on a plane for a journey of only several hours, but he had a hunch he would have a bit of trouble getting through customs, carrying a duffel loaded with blades, guns, and ammunition. He might always be complaining about his brother’s driving skills or his collection of Metallica, Motorhead, and Black Sabbath tapes which he plays over and over again while he sings along, but seventy-six hours of traveling to get from Texas to Tennessee wasn’t a joy either.
He watches the touring car take off into the night, continuing its trip, the droplets that run down the side catching the light of the overhanging streetlights. The sound of the engine fades as the carrier merges into traffic again. Suddenly, he feels alone, left behind, and not just by the bus. It’s not the first time he experiences this uneasiness, because Sam has pondered about the fight he had with his older sibling more than once. Truth be told; he never expected Dean to leave him on the side of the road. He called his bluff, and when his brother didn’t give him an inch, he himself refused to surrender as well. If he’s completely honest with himself, he started regretting this impulsive act the minute he saw the Impala drive away, but he couldn’t let it show, he couldn’t let Dean win. He is so tired of being bossed around and being treated like a little kid. Stubborn? Maybe. Guess it runs in the family.
Sam can take care of himself, but tracking his father will not be an easy task without Dean. When it comes to Dad, the oldest son knows him best and Sam realizes he’s going to be missing him on this search. He hopes the woman who set him on this path will call him again, because he could use a lead.
So, what now? He decides it will probably be best to settle down in a motel and get online, see if he can find some information, then he will start asking questions. There’s not much he can do right at this moment, considering it’s 2.30 AM. It’s going to be quite a task, finding a man in a city covering 550 square miles with over 600.000 citizens. And all he has is the word of a girl he has never met, of which he didn’t even catch her name. “This is insane,” he mutters, looking around.
A voice of reason whispers in his ear again: go back. Dean’s words had some truth to them. What if this is a trap? What if he’s walking straight into it? Sam’s doubts will not make him turn around, though. He is here and he is not going to stop searching until he finds Dad.
Sam keeps his head low and buries his hand in his pockets, protecting himself from the rain as he shivers. It’s not particularly cold for this time of the year, but 39 °F isn’t anything near Texas. Raindrops bring down the temperature as well and continue to fall down on the hunter as clouds block out the moon.
He starts to walk in the direction of what seems to be a hotel. The interstate, which lays directly next to the parking lot, crosses Highway 70. Lines of cars travel by, their white headlights and red tail lights lighting the road like it’s Christmas already.
Through the curtains of water, the young Winchester spots a neon sign at the entrance of the building he’s approaching. He was right; it is a hotel, funnily enough one from the same chain where Zoë spent the night in Paragould. The Hampton Inn Bellevue looks like a fancy place from the outside, and remembering the luxurious room of the huntress, he reckons this hotel will not be any different. Sam doesn’t like to waste money, but he will do anything for a decent bed after being crammed into that touring car like a canned sardine. Not that he’s planning to sleep much; he has better things to do. He has to find Dad, it’s all he can think of.
Right when he’s about to enter the establishment, he hears his cell phone ringing. Hastily, he takes his Blackberry from his pocket, hoping it to be the anonymous caller who tipped him off three days ago. The display announces the caller as ‘unidentified’, it might not be so far fetched. Sam picks up immediately. “Hello?” A relieved sigh sounds from the other side. “Hey, Sam.”
It’s a feminine voice alright, but it’s not the ‘mysterious lady’, as Dean called the woman who passed him the information about their Dad. He does recognize the person on the other end, though. She is the last human being on earth he expected a call from. “Zoë,” he concludes, stunned. “Yeah… hey, listen,” she cuts to the chase. “I’m in deep shit.”
Sam stops dead in his tracks. He thought she might be after she left so abruptly back in Arkansas, but the fact that she’s admitting that she’s in trouble means that this is serious.
“Where the hell are you?” he asks. “I’m just outside Darrington, Washington State.” “Are you hurt?” Sam asks worriedly. “Yeah, but that’s not the point.” She pauses for a moment, knowing what she is about to say might come as an unpleasant surprise. “Your brother’s here.”
Completely staggered, Sam stares ahead with his phone still close to his ear. What did she just say? Dean is there? With her?! A million questions pop up in his head, but he finds it difficult to choose the first one to ask.
“What?!” is the only thing he can cry out. “Yeah, I thought you might say that.” “But, how the…? He went out to do Dad’s dirty laundry!” he recalls, stunned. “Are you calling me dirty laundry?” Sam’s eyebrows reach his hairline, remembering the coordinates John sent his brother. “You are Dad’s dirty laundry?” “Apparently, but it doesn’t matter.” She interferes before the receiver of the call has the chance to ramble on. “Listen, Dean’s life is in danger. If he stays here with me, he’ll die. You have to get him out bef--”
Now, it’s Zo who gets interrupted. Puzzled, Sam stares at his phone for a moment, assuming the connection might be bad. When the display shows three bars in the right upper corner, he presses the Blackberry against his ear again and listens carefully, trying to identify the sounds he hears. It seems like Zoë is fighting someone over the phone, then he hears Dean in the background. “Give me the damn phone! Give it!” “No! Let go!” “Zoë!” “Don’t Zoë me, you son of a--” “Hand me the fucking phone!”
The line cracks, but then the noise of static stabilizes. Dean has apparently won the fight over the device, because he can hear his voice loud and clear. “Sam?” “What?” he replies coldly. “Whatever you do, don’t hang up,” Dean pleads before Sam does something he will regret later. “I thought you were on Dad’s job?” the younger brother confronts, still angry with his brother. “I am, this is the job. The coordinates led me to Zo,” he explains. “This is not some ghost hunt, Sam. This is unlike anything I’ve ever faced before.”
The hunter hears the concern in his sibling’s voice and he immediately swallows back the smart response he had waiting for him. “I need you to get over here, and while you’re at it look up everything you can find about hellhounds,” Dean demands, calm but stern. “Hellhounds?” Sam repeats, perplexed. “As in the actual soul claimers of the crossroad demons?” “Yep, and we’re on the menu.” “How did that happen? You have to make a deal before they claim your soul at the arranged time,” Sam remembers from one of the lore he studied. “They were let off the hook,” Dean claims. “Sam, you have to find out a way to kill them.” “You can’t kill hellhounds, Dean,” Sam replies. “No, you don’t understand. You have to find a way to kill them,” Dean repeats slowly, making sure the words sink in.
The youngest gulps, realizing how much trouble Zoë and his brother are in. He has read some books that mentioned these creatures, but he never found anything about killing them. He turns around and stares up, letting the rain fall down on him, the water clumping his brown hair together in strands. The hunter scoffs; and he thought he made it to his final destination. He just traveled half the country to get east, now he has to travel all the way up north?
“This better not be some excuse to get me away from Dad, Dean,” he warns. “I wish it was, Sam,” Dean says, concerned. “Hurry it up, will ya?” “Will do.” “And - uh, about what happened down in Texas…” “That’s not important now. We’ll talk about it later,” Sam replies to Dean’s unspoken words.
Knowing they both can bury their pride and work this out, the younger brother closes his eyes as a burden falls off his shoulders. It must, for him to be able to carry a much heavier weight on them. Zoë’s and Dean’s life will depend on him.
“One more thing,” Sam states, before hanging up. “You do know what happens when these things catch you. You don’t just die…” “I know. You go to hell,” Dean finishes. The young Winchester nods his head, although his sibling can’t see that. A short silence follows, after which Dean ends their conversation. “See you soon, Sammy.”
The line disconnects and a tone beeps in his ear, but it takes a few seconds before the young hunter actually lowers the phone and puts it away. Well, that changes things. There is no time to lose; he needs to get to Washington State and fast.
Determined, he stalks back onto the parking lot, observing his surroundings. No bus ride this time, he needs faster transportation. His gaze glides over the parking lot. Then he spots a silver 2005 Chrysler Crossfire Roadster amongst them. He nods, approving, knowing that the vehicle would make good time, but his conscience kicks in soon enough. He can not just connect some wires and steal a car like that! Or any car! But the thought of his brother and Zoë ending up dog food because he was too civilized to go grand theft auto isn’t something he could live with either. He’s left with no other option.
Reluctantly, Sam groans and eyes the vehicle, but then steps towards it while shaking his head and mumbling to himself, “I am so gonna regret this.”
Thank you so much for reading. I appreciate every single one of you, but if you do want to give me some extra love, you are free to reblog my work or buy me coffee. Link in bio at the top of the page.
A Small Guide for Fanmon Crafting: Baby Digimon Edition
(Will I actually make more of these for higher levels? Probably not)
Here is quick run-down of general lore and very basic information about Baby Digimon (I and II) and some small statistics for the purposes of making fanmon that seem like they could fit into canon really well and don’t “break any rules”- that isn’t to say there’s rules to how you can and can’t make fanmon!! Do what you want, this is just here so you don’t have to do research and read all the Reference Book Entries on your own if you wanted to stick to the null lore
Also, quick note; there isn’t much to say about designing Baby I Digimon, but there is a lot more info about common/uncommon traits for Baby II
So, let’s get started!
Baby I
Based on the info of 39 Digimon (all Baby I Digimon as of me writing this)
They generally have non-existant powers and are described as incapable of fighting (most of them use acidic bubbles as their primary “attacks”, Jyarimon uses hot bubbles (so there can be slight variation), some shoot out small streams of air or water, others just flee)
They don’t tend to have much variation when it comes to their personalities, most Baby I Digimon are meant to be friendly and/or curious, others are just widdle babbies
Usually these Digimon don’t have clothes or equipment with them with VERY FEW exceptions; there are however at least 3 Baby I Digimon with pacifiers
A lot of these Digimon are described as being extremely light, to the point that many either intentionally or unintentionally moving around by being carried away by wind
Pitchmon is supposedly the smallest Digimon, while Poyomon is the most primitive. Zeri+Cocomon are known to be the only Digimon that can be born from the same DigiEgg as twins (but they can be born as on their own as well)
Most of these Digimon are shaped like balls, some looking slightly more like jelly
Most of these Digimon are also described as being incredibly soft; even if they have a pointy horn or something similar, they’re still soft (so like, they’re squishies) (Bandai we need this merch)
Usually these Digimon are classified either as having no Attribute at all, or are Free
I looked at all the different Types Baby I Digimon come in, and in total there were 11 types. That said, 28 of the 39 Digimon were in the Slime-category, making Slime the biggest Type, there being a 71,7% chance a random Baby I Digimon is a Slime. The second largest group was Seed, with whopping two Digimon (5,1% chance). The remaining 9 groups all had a single Digimon in each (2,5% chance).
Now I do want to note that while Slime is by far the biggest group and your Fanmon would be most likely one of those, it doesn’t mean these Digimon are all uniform; some of them look like pudding like Punimon, a fuzz ball like Relemon, goo like Poyomon or a literal explosive like Bommon and Bombmon.
A quick rundown of all the Types in this Level:
Armor: Cotsucomon
Chick: Puwamon
Machine: Choromon
Mutant: Algomon (Baby I)
Seed: Nyokimon and Yuramon
Small Angel: Puttimon
Smoke: Mokumon
Spirit: Pafumon
Unknown: Kuramon
Weapon: Sakumon
Slime (and I’m not listing the Digimon for this one)
Baby II
Based on the info of 49 Digimon (all Baby II Digimon as of me writing this)
These Digimon still tend to be classified as having to Attribute or as being Free, with very few Digimon that have been classified as having some other Attribute (Pagumon having been classified as a Virus at some point being one)
Baby II Digimon tend to start to have their own unique personalities that’re a lot more varied, to the point that I couldn’t really find any patterns in their descriptions
Baby II Digimon also have a lot more unique abilities and attacks, though they’re still generally not thought to be ready for battle
Many Baby II Digimon are still thought to be soft, but this time if one has a pointy horn, it’s actually probably pretty sharp!
Most Baby II Digimon look like disembodied heads with various extensions to their bodies like tails or ears.
There are a few Digimon that really stand out a lot in how they look when compared to the rest, like Arkadimon (Baby) and Kozenimon, but these are usually the exception (and sometimes Digimon that weren’t nececarily designed to look like Baby II Digimon)
There were about four Digimon that had kind of a naga-like body, where there was a distinct head and torso with flappy, wing-like “arms” but no legs (for example Pukamon); nothing was said about this bodytype being unusual or rare for this level
Wings are considdered an unusual trait for Baby II Digimon, there being only 7 out of 49 Digimon with obvious wings (14,2%)
Baby II Digimon that stand on two legs, have hands and a torso that’s separate from their body are also considdered unusual, there only being two Digimon like this (Chibimon and Cupimon) (4%)
Although it was stated to be extremely rare (in Tokomon’s entry), there were 10 Digimon that had four itty-bitty legs to run on, that being whopping 20,4% of these Digimon.
(So you can look at this lore in two ways; either four-legged Baby II Digimon are meant to be rarer than than bipedal and thus you should be more likely to make bipedal Baby IIs than quadrupedal Baby IIs, OR lore from Tokomon’s original Reference Book Entry is outdated and you should obey the numbers instead) ((Or ignore the canon because your fanmon are allowed to be special))
Baby II Digimon are ever so slightly more spread out when it comes to Types, although some of that has to do with the amout of Types nearly doubling. This time there were 18 distinct groups, and while most of them still only contained a single Digimon, a few had a few more.
I do want to note that there were four Digimon that have not been giving formal Types, Moonmon, Sunmon, Arkadimon (Baby) and Chicchimon being the ones.
The largest group this time was Lesser, with 23 Digimon out of 49 in it (46,9%). The second largest group was Baby Dragon with three Digimon in it (6,1%), followed by Mutant, Larva and Bulb, each having two in them.
Once again, a quick rundown of all the Types (from least to most Digimon):
Amphibian: Upamon
Armor: Kakkinmon
Braun: Monimon
Chick: Pinamon
Flame: Peti Meramon
Food: Torikara Ballmon
Machine: Missimon
Minor: Pickmon
Plant: Budmon
Small Angel: Cupimon
Small Bird: Poromon
Unknown: Tsumemon
Weapon: Sakuttomon
Bulb: Pyocomon and Tanemon
Larva: Minomon and Puroromon
Mutant: Algomon (Baby II) and Kozenimon
Baby Dragon: BabyDmon, Chibimon and Hopmon
Lesser (once again, not listing all of these)
#DigiSafe#Text post#IDK about you but I have a slight obsession with making sure my fan garbage is as canon compliant as I can make it#In the sense that if I wanted to design 10 Baby I Digimon I really would be like ''7 need to be Slimes and the rest whatever''#So this is really more for myself than anyone else#But I figured if anyone else was weirdly obsessed with being canon compliant like me- this is for you#My fellow pedantic people#Also sorry there isn't really a percentage for how many B2 Digimon tend to be heads#It's just really hard to diffrentiate between ''head'' and ''weird jelly thing'' and ''vaguely looks like a plant'' etc#Like the line is oddly thin there#Also the main reason I don't think I'd do more of these for the remaining levels is that there isn't as much like rules or commonalities#to make like a guide. The most I can at least remember from the top of my head was that according to Renamon's Profile#''Tall and slender'' Child level Digimon like it are unusual or kind of a rarity#So implying most tend to be smaller and chumbier#So with the rest it would really have to be more based on like my personal visual analysis rather than lore from the Profiles and numbers#And I did want to try and keep this as like. Factual and not-opinionated as possible#Also like Dragon Digimon are kinda supposed to be like rare but because of Main Character syndrome they're pretty common in the franchise#So if I did do like the math it'd be like ''Dragon Digimon are rare! Only 40% of Child Level Digimon are Dragons!'' which djkfhkjdhgsfg#ANYWAYS I HOPE Y'ALL ENJOY THIS
The Greater Your Shadow Becomes
A recurring pattern in the Kingdom Hearts series is how often it misleads and misdirects us. We are told that Nobodies do not have hearts only to learn several games later that this was a lie. Our knowledge of Xehanort’s backstory has changed from one game to the next. The series itself even acknowledges its dishonesty, with the Master of Masters telling Young Xehanort that “the truth is what you see with your eyes, not what you hear[1],” while explaining that anything he says about his motivation and identity should not be trusted.
So despite Kingdom Hearts III, Back Cover, and Union X appearing to position the Master of Masters as the next main antagonist, I remain suspicious that the role the series seems to be setting him up for will ultimately be filled by another. A big part of this has to do with the patterns I have noticed among stories that follow the Heroine’s Journey.
In a Heroine’s Journey where there is a direct antagonist whose actions must be overcome in order to resolve the story’s conflict, that antagonist has commonly been presented as a narrative foil to either the protagonist or their Animus. In storytelling, a Foil is one character who is contrasted with another in order to highlight the other’s traits[2]. Most stories will emphasize the protagonist’s noble qualities by contrasting them with a character with similar personality traits or a similar backstory but who lacks the qualities that make the protagonist heroic. More often than not, these literary foils function as Shadow figures to the protagonist, and in many cases embody the negative elements of the story’s main themes.
For example, Gaston is put on a pedestal by the people around him as a paragon of what their society considers desirable. He’s handsome, skilled, and charismatic. Yet he constantly disrespects Belle’s agency and intelligence, not caring whether she’s willing to marry him or not. This positions him as a foil to the Beast, who is rude, monstrous, and has to learn how to perform basic tasks like eating with silverware. Despite his gruff exterior, he respects Belle’s intelligence and agency, holding her to the terms of their deal while also growing to prioritize her happiness above his own desires.
Something that the overarching antagonists of every Heroine’s Journey I know of all have in common is that the audience is made aware of their existence very early on in the story. Their motivations may change over the course of the story, and when we learn about their goals can vary, but we generally learn of their existence before the end of the first act.
We meet Gaston in the opening musical number of Beauty and the Beast.
Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog also makes his first appearance in the opening musical number of his film.
President Snow gets at least a mention in the background in the first book of the Hunger Games trilogy even if Katniss doesn’t meet him face to face until the second one.
High Priestess Haggar is introduced in the first (technically second) episode of Voltron: Legendary Defender Season 1.
Meanwhile, the Master of Masters was only introduced near the end of Act II in the overarching narrative of Kingdom Hearts. Likewise, his goals are still unclear, in contrast to other Heroine’s Journey antagonists whose objectives are given to the audience at some point during the second act. So unless he turns out to be a familiar face under the hood, I find it unlikely that the Master of Masters will be the main antagonist of the next act. He’ll certainly play an antagonistic role, and definitely a major one, but everything I know about story structure is telling me that the “Big Bad” of the next arc is ultimately going to be someone else.
The repeated emphasis on prophecy, fate, and destiny in Act II of the series creates a strong undercurrent of defying fate being a major theme of the final arc of the Kingdom Hearts story. Sora’s ability to connect with others has enabled him to pull off feats that should be considered impossible up to the point of rewriting the fated defeat of the Guardians of Light at the Keyblade Graveyard in Kingdom Hearts III. So it stands to reason that the main antagonist of the final act will be a character who either tries to defy fate in a negative way, or a character who does things because fate dictates it be done.
So the major antagonist of Act III will most likely be someone who expresses the themes of fate and whether to defy or accept it in a negative way. Someone who serves as a foil to Sora. And someone who was introduced to the audience during Act I - meaning the original game, Chain of Memories, or Kingdom Hearts II. Given the amount of focus he has received since his introduction and how important Kingdom Hearts III revealed him to be in the lore of the series, there’s really only one person who qualifies:
[Image Description: Luxu stares at the camera after taking off his hood in front of the Foretellers, revealing the face of Xigbar. End Description.]
As someone noted after the release of KH3, there are many similarities between Luxu and Sora when you sit down and think about it[3]:
Back Cover portrays Luxu as a young teen curious about the world, just like Sora.
Much like how wanting to be with his friends is shown to be one of Sora’s major motivations, Luxu’s Secret Reports in Kingdom Hearts III portray him as wanting nothing more than to be with the people he cares about[4].
Both of them take up these cosmically significant roles with no idea of what lies ahead for them - all the pain, separation, and loss. But they cannot stop or rest and go home until they finish their task because people are counting on them.
Where the two diverge is in their circumstances and how they reacted:
While Sora stumbled onto the mantle of a Keyblade wielder by accident and chose the responsibilities that came with his mission on his own, Luxu was given his by the Master as part of a greater purpose, and he carried out that role at his mentor’s instruction.
Both of them hide their pain and weariness under a playful façade.
Sora has spent his journey in the company of his friends and has relied on their support. Luxu has always been alone, relying only on himself.
Sora holds onto his connections with others even at significant cost to himself, while Luxu casts aside his bonds and puts his mission above all else.
In addition to his narrative connections to Sora, there is also his connection to Riku as well.
The scene where he reveals his face to the audience for the first time in Kingdom Hearts II begins with Sora initially mistaking him for Riku.
In Kingdom Hearts III, he’s paired with Dark Riku at the Skein of Severance, a combination that stands out in contrast to the obvious narrative meanings behind the choices of the other boss groupings in the Keyblade Graveyard.
Series producer Shinji Hasmimoto has said that Sora and Riku are the core of the story[5], so it would make sense, then, if the primary antagonist of the final act is someone with already established narrative connections to both characters.
Tetsuya Nomura had the end of the Dark Seeker Saga outlined since Kingdom Hearts II was finishing development[6]. This indicates that everything done with Xigbar across the entire series was planned with the Luxu reveal in mind. The fact that he chose to give Xigbar such a significant part and planned it that far in advance signals that our dear Number II has a major role in the overall narrative of the series. Between the implications of the reveal setting him up as a foil for Sora and the patterns exhibited by major antagonists of other Heroine’s Journeys, I’m confident that role will likely be that of the overall villain of Act III.
There is always the possibility that I could be wrong and that the Master of Masters will be the primary antagonist of the story’s final act. His influence of others and his writing of the Book of Prophecies appear to set him up as the author of our characters’ fates, which satisfied the narrative pattern of the antagonist reflecting the negative side of one of the story’s themes.
However, as I said, he was introduced much later in the narrative than is common for the overarching antagonist of a Heroine's Journey. I also have my doubts that it will be that obvious, as Kingdom Hearts has pulled that kind of bait and switch before. The first game initially sets up Maleficent as the main antagonist, only for Ansem to step out of the shadows and take the stage as the Big Bad for the remainder of the game after her defeat. Given how many parallels to the first game are found throughout Kingdom Hearts III, Xigbar being unmasked as Luxu and the information that came with it in the Secret Reports have the makings of an excellent parallel to that switch on a series-wide scale.
Love Isn’t Easy ~ Jungkook X Reader
Word Count: 6,795
Warnings: Mentions of death, Mafia, Beatings, hints of smut and hints of violence
Genre: Fluffy || Angst || CUTE! || AUMafia
Summary: Dating isn’t easy, especially when your dad is a big-time mafia gang leader and your boyfriend is the heir to another Mafia family yours has been at war with for the last fourteen years, you didn’t mean to fall for the “enemy.”
No one said that love was easy but if love was easy all of the romance stories, songs, poems and movies that people seemed to love so much would be boring, the world would but dull but sometimes you did wish it was easy. Dating someone was hard enough with your dad, your dad was a big mafia boss, in charge of a lot of different mafia family businesses, drug running, protective, lending out money to people, buying out dying businesses that needed saving, he took people under his wing when they were in trouble but your father wasn’t this nice man he portrayed himself to be. He would lore people in with a false sense of security, make them feel safe with him and protected before snapping, he was dangerous and you knew that. Your previous boyfriends all thought they were safe with your dad, he would tell them how much he respected them, give them jobs, and set them up in the mafia world only to later drop them as if they were nothing, threaten their lives if they ever hurt you, made them leave because no one was good enough for his daughter, no one, and God forbid any of them stayed and hurt his little princess. The last boyfriend who messed with you was killed instantly, you’d tried to convince your dad to stop, that you were fine and he didn’t need to do what he was about to do, the ex had used you to get close to your dad, he just wanted to be involved with the Mafia, to get rich quick, when he finally got what he wanted he dumped you, telling you he’d never liked you at all and it was all an act to get a job, but your dad overheard everything he’d said to you and flipped, he was going to kill the boy that broke his little girls heart, but you didn’t want that, you didn’t want anyone to die because of you, you’d tried to tell your dad that but in his mindset, no one was allowed to hurt his daughter.
Your dad was over-protective with people who weren’t involved in the Mafia business and was more protective over people who were in the business, he knew all men involved were like him.
"Good for nothing men, who just want a quick fuck and leave.” He told you one night, but you’d tried to convince him that mum was with him when he was involved in the business, he told you it wasn’t the same and to ‘stay out of it’, even though it was your love life he was messing with. So when you started dating Jungkook you had to be careful, not only because he was another boy but because he was THE boy, he wasn’t just another boy you began dating he was Jeon Jeong-Guk, an heir to one of the second biggest Mafia families, but you didn’t know that when you first met him, he didn’t know you either you were just two young adults lost in each other’s eyes to even question each other about family happenings.
You’d gone to your usual hiding spot in the busy town centre, it was down an alleyway hidden between two giant department store buildings, it was also the only place your father or his goons couldn’t find you. It was a small bookshop with two floors, the very top floor has a skylight with fake plants hanging down, the very top floor was like an attic, only accessible by a ladder that was attached to the wall. The whole shop was beautiful, every shelf was filled with classical or new novels for people to read, something for everyone.
“Seol-Hee?” You called out as the bell above the door chimed as you walked through the door to the shop, there was no answer meaning she was probably in the stock room getting things ready, it was only a small store and inside was a tiny little cafe where she sold coffees, homemade cupcakes and various other things, she’d started the business when she left college and it was one of your favourite places to come and visit. You laid down your bag on a nearby chair and headed for the ladder which leads up to the top floor.
“Y/N?” You heard Seol yell from the bottom floor, you popped your head over the bannister to see her standing there in a messy apron and flour all over her face, she knew that you always came on a Saturday at 10 am on the dot, so it had to be you, she didn’t get any other customers much.
“I need to head out, I need to get some cash. Man the shop.” You nodded and she headed out, you’d done this before for her, you looked after the place while she went off to do something that needed doing, you knew she had to go to the bank, it was rent day she owed rent to a new business owner that had taken over the street, another reason your dad didn’t know about this place, he didn’t own it, even though you wished sometimes he did because of how hard Seol worked and you wanted to give her peace of mind that rent was cared for but she would never allow it, she knew about your dad and how he treated the businesses he owned and wanted no part in it and you didn’t really blame her.
You’d been so lost in reading in the attic hadn’t noticed how much time had passed until you were reaching for the top shelf and the bell above the door sounded, you needed something new to read, you were getting bored of the same old stories but in a new setting.
“Just a second,” You croaked out, your fingertips brushing the edge of the book, it was just out of your reach, you wanted to kick Seol for not having a ladder or a step upstairs so you could take it when someone else’s hand reached for it, it was covered in small tattoos, whoever it was pulled down the book and handed it to you, you looked at the book studying the tattooed hand for a couple seconds longer and then followed the arm up to meet the face of whoever had reached for your.
“Thank you,” You whispered, slightly amazed by him, he was breathtakingly handsome, he was dressed in all black, with a leather jacket, his hair was brown and had a slight curl to it, he smiled at you and his smile could have knocked the air out of your lungs, his eyes met yours and you suddenly found it hard to form sentences and think straight.
“What can I do for you today?” You questioned looking around the shop trying to avoid making eye contact with him as he was making you a little nervous, Seol still wasn’t back from her trip to the bank so you assumed he was another customer, he was staring at you though in silence just like you had been, he was studying every inch of your face, biting down on his lip unknowingly as he took in your beauty. The thing he was supposed to come in for, now gone out of his mind, the only thing left in his head was questions about you, who you were, why he’d never seen you before and when he could see you again.
“Oh I- I’m looking for a book someone recommended to me, do you work here?” He was hoping you would say no if you said yes the reason he was here would come crashing back to him and reality would be back all too quickly.
“No, I’m just minding the place while the owner goes to the bank, I’m sure she won’t be long but I can try and help…I come here a lot.” You nodded over to the ladder and he went down first, stopping beside the ladder to wait for you to come down, watching as you made you stepped down, slipping a little at the last step and falling face-first into his arms, your faces were inches apart from one another and that’s when you could really look at him, he has a small scar below his left eye, it was healed over so he must have done it when he was younger but it made him look tough, even though his smile made him look like a bunny, and his eyes, you could get lost in them for days, they were a deep dark brown, it was like they were shining, he chuckled softly at you and you cleared your throat trying not to embarrass yourself too much in front of him, removing yourself from his arms and going over to the front desk where a laptop was sitting.
“What’s the name of the book?” You asked trying to calm your heart which was beating five times faster than it should have been, his eyes hadn’t left your face or body since the moment he first saw you and it was making you a little self-conscious, you weren’t used to this kind of attention.
“Sweet Temptation by J.R Phillips.” You typed it into the computer and found it instantly, the bottom floor behind the shelf of classical romance novels, Seol had her own organising system and you wouldn’t change a thing about it, it made everything so much easier to find. You read a quick description of the book, two star-crossed lovers who were battling odds just to be together, looked like a re-written Romeo and Juliet in modern times.
“Wouldn’t have taken you for a romance reader,” You said taking him through the bookshelves and toward the secluded area where the book he wanted was kept, it was between two larger bookshelves.
“It’s not really my genre but I’m trying to expand,” You took it from the shelf and handed it to him, looking at the cover, it was a black background, a woman’s hands holding a red rose which was dripping blood, you made a mental note to pick up a copy for yourself.
“Y/N! I’m back. I got a little held up but nothing I couldn’t handle.” You excused yourself away from the man and went to find Seol, giving her a quick hug goodbye, you knew your dad would be wondering where you were and you couldn’t stay longer, your father would start to question what you do in all the time he’s gone and you couldn’t risk him finding out about this place
“I’ll come back next week,” You said to her leaving a tip in her jar and going out of the door without another word to the guy you’d met. He watched as you walked away without a care in the world, the way your hips swayed a little with every step you took and the small smile you had on your face as you looked over your shoulder at the shop, he could have stared at you all day if you’d have stayed. He only knew your first name and it wasn’t enough to find out everything about you, not when he didn’t have a family name to go by, you didn’t work here so he couldn’t demand the owner to give a name, all he did know was he was going to have to come back and see you again but right now he had to take care of something else.
You were trying to get back to the shop more often than you normally would, you would normally only go once a week, on a Saturday when your father went for his weekend days out, this was the only time he really let you out of the house, he didn’t like you out later than him and he always wanted you to have cover, he was overly protective because of how your mother died, she was killed in a shooting by a rival Mafia family, they wanted to get back at your dad for buying something that was theirs, but you didn’t see the point in hiding, no one knew where you hung out all the time anyway, but you’d managed to convince him you could be trusted to go out alone with a guard you trusted with your life, everyone knew not to mess with your father, your father agreed and sent a guard named Taylor to go with you, he was the strongest out of his guards but he was also the sweetest on you, you had him wrapped around your finger and could get him to do whatever you wanted. You cut a deal with him, he would stay in a cafe in their district while you rushed off to do your own thing, threatening that if he ever snitched you’d tell your dad he was the one leaving you behind, you had to see the boy from the bookshop again, you had a strange attachment to him, and you didn’t even know his name yet.
The shop was empty again the next Wednesday afternoon, Seol mentioned it was almost always empty except for one man who was coming in once a day to look for books, buying almost one of every genre from her, Seol was down in the basement checking her stock when the bell about the door rang, you looked through the bannister bars to see who had come through it and you saw him standing there, he was dressed in the same leather jacket, but he was in black ripped jeans with some fingerless leather gloves, he looked even better than the last time you saw him, maybe it’s because this time you could really look at him instead of being so flustered.
“She’s in the basement,” You called out, your voice came out calmer than you actually were, he made you way too nervous, he looked up at you with a smirk on his lips, he’d been coming by every day since the previous Saturday to meet you again, he had started to lose hope in you ever coming back to the shop and this was going to be his last attempt at seeing you, he couldn’t get enough of you, but you were never there so he ended up acting as though he was buying books, he currently had a stack of books piling on his bedroom desk, he was sure Seol knew what he was really up to, coming in every day just to wait around until you showed up, but you never did and he never questioned it.
“I’m not here for her,” He spoke with a flirty tone, you could tell just from the sound of his voice he had a smirk on his lips and when he came up the ladder he saw you reading the book he’d picked out the week before and a smile spread across his cheeks
“You’re reading the book?” He questioned noticing that you were curled up against some pillows under the skylight, you nodded popping a square of chocolate into your mouth and looking at him.
“It’s good, have you started your copy yet?” You asked, closing on the page you were on, he sat down next to you, sliding off his leather jacket to reveal a sleeve tattoo, he hung his jacket on the railing you smiled at him and he shook his head.
“Not yet, what’s happened so far?” He questioned looking at your book, you scoffed at him playfully.
“What do you want me to do, read it to you?” You joked but he began nodding with a serious look on his face.
“I do yeah,” You opened up the book to the first page again and began to read it out loud to him, he lent his head on your shoulder using you as a pillow and watching you as your eyes scanned the page, twitching a little whenever you finished a paragraph and the way the corners of your mouth turned to a smile whenever you said the main male characters name.
“When will I see you again?” He questioned, you were packing up your things to leave, you looked at the time on your phone, it was 3:15 pm, you were running late, you just seemed to lose track of time with him, you looked back up into his eyes.
“I’ll be here Saturday, all day.” You said looking down over the bannister, Seol was at the counter now.
“See you then, Y/N.” You smiled at him, the way your name rolled from his lips sent chills across your entire body, then it hit you, you didn’t even know his name and you were agreeing to meet up with him.
“You too…” He smiled catching on quickly to what you were trying to get at.
“Jungkook.” You shook his hand and headed to the ladder to leave, Seol sending you a bright smile as you did so.
And that’s how it started, you would go to the shop every Saturday and Wednesday to meet up with him, both of you forgetting the rest of the world existed, all your problems melting away as soon as you were together in the book shop, all your problems would melt away as soon as you entered the shop, it was two weeks into your twice a week meetups when you finally traded phone numbers so you could talk outside of the shop, having text conversations about the book, and other things. He quizzed you about your upbringing, you would both tell each other sad stories about your childhood, leaving out the important Mafia side of it all, you don’t know why, but you knew you could trust him with anything, you even told him about your mother’s death and how it affected you, leaving out that she was killed by Mafia lord and replacing it with a car accident. You never wanted to leave him, Jungkook was your own little secret and you wanted to keep it that way, and he in return he didn’t tell you about his life. Neither of you knew who the other was and it was easy.
“Our dates are going to get me fat.” You joked as he put another cookie into your mouth while you turned the page, he’d started bringing a picnic with him every time you met up and it always had cookies in the basket, which is why you had him nicknamed as 'Kookie’ in your phone now, he chuckled along with you and then looked at you with a serious look.
“Date? Is that what these are?” You began blushing and stuttering on what to say next, choking a little on the cookie and he patted your back trying to calm you down a little, you finally stopped choking and he handed you some water.
“I mean- I just- I thought-” You couldn’t finish because he placed his lips on yours to shut you up, his hand on the back of your neck so you couldn’t escape from him, you dropped the book you were holding onto the floor not caring about it right now and he smirked into the kiss, laying you down against pillows and pulling away, he smiled down at you, moving strands of hair behind your ear and kissing your cheek.
“They are,” He whispered looking into your eyes, you were now a bright red colour, you could have stayed there forever but it began raining heavily and you knew Taylor would be wanting to head back soon.
“I have to go…I’ll see you Saturday.” You whispered, leaning up and kissing him again, you didn’t want to go. You wanted to stay there under the skylight all night with him, listening to the rain and stories he would tell you.
“And you can read this time, my throat is starting to hurt.” You teased, taking a cookie from the packet and heading down the ladder, hugging Seol goodbye and leaving through the door, Jungkook was watching you from the attic until you were out of his sight and sighed, he wanted you to be able to stay longer, to stay laid in his arms until neither of you could stand laying there anymore.
It had been a month since your dates started and you had almost finished the book, you’d been taking your time with it because you would get distracted by each other whenever you would try to read, you’d always end up cuddled on the floor looking up through the skylight and talking, never finding anything to stop talking about, there were at least four chapters left which meant you would finish it tonight with him, you planned to ask your dad if you could possibly stay out later tonight, to try and get away with staying a few more hours with him, you were about to enter his office when you heard him talking to someone in there.
“I don’t care how you do it, make sure that Jungkook kid doesn’t get in the fucking, way.” Your hand hovered about the door handle as you heard him say your boyfriend’s name, you thought you’d been so careful with everything, how could he have found out. Your heart began to pound against your chest, at the thought of your dad even going near Jungkook, you began to panic a lot.
“He’s the son of another Mafia family meaning he’s a threat, find out what he’s doing near my side of town or I’ll have to kill him.” You moved away from the door, going down the stairs to Taylor and asking him to drive you to the cafe you always left him at, you were going to find out who this Jungkook was and what he wanted with you.
“So you just coincidentally found one of the biggest Mafia families daughters and decided to date her?” You asked you were both standing in the attic of the book shop, Seol had excused herself the moment you walked inside the shop looking pissed off, Jungkook was staring at you, he was leant back against the wall cockily, his arms folded across his chest as he watched you pacing back in forth in front of him.
“I had no idea who you were, I thought you were some pretty girl I’d met in a bookshop.” He defended, which was true. He honestly had no idea you were the daughter of his family’s worst enemy, Seol had come up from the basement to listen to the pair of you, wanting to say something to stop you both from fighting, she’d been watching you get closer and closer every time you’d come in and it was upsetting to see it all get ripped away because of family drama neither of you had anything to do with.
“So what is it? You were going to make me fall in love with you and then what? Steal the family business?” You scoffed going down the ladder ready to leave but Seol had locked the door and was standing in front of it, Jungkook was standing behind you now he’d followed you down not wanting you to leave him alone.
“No, He’s telling you the truth Y/N.” She said looking at you, you frowned at her and she nodded over at the front desk, you walked over and she began showing you different bits of paperwork you didn’t understand, something about rental agreements, rightful ownership and other things.
“When you first met him, he was coming to collect rent from me for his dad, which is where I had rushed off to and when I told him I couldn’t afford the payments anymore he didn’t threaten to kill me, or smash the place up like his father would have done.” She looked up at Jungkook who was standing behind you, inches apart you could feel his breath on the back of your neck as you watched Seol speak.
“He bought the place out and his father doesn’t know he’s the one paying the rent, it’s an agreement between me and him. He had no idea who you were, but he came back every day since that Saturday to met you, he would hang out upstairs until closing time, he never asked me who you were or when you came in but he made sure to come back every day.” You turned around to face Jungkook who had a blush on his cheeks as Seol admitted everything to you, the cocky confident Jungkook was gone and was replaced by a blushing shy boy.
“So you’re not trying to kill me? Or get close to me to get my dad?"You whispered, now embarrassed you’d even accused him of such a thing.
"No, I’m not,” He took your hand in his and smiled at you, moving some hair from your face, you had tears in your eyes because you were afraid he was using you.
“I understand why you were so scared but I promise you, I would never do anything to hurt you…I like you too much to let anything happen to you,” He bent down and laid a kiss on your forehead,
“Now, I have a box of cookies up there with our name on and the last four chapters of our book.” He took your hand and walked you over to the ladder, making you go up first turning to look at Seol and giving her a thankful smile.
Your father wouldn’t be a good father if it hadn’t noticed the extra spring in your step over the last six months, at first he put it down to you being happy about going out more. He’d been letting you have more days out in the town with Taylor, and you’d been telling him about your trips around the museums and stores in his area, all the shops he owned that was. You’d been dating Jungkook in secret for six months, the only people who knew about your relationship were you, Jungkook and Seol who swore to keep it a secret even on her death bed. Your father thought nothing of the extra spring in your step, he was happy to see his daughter so happy, it wasn’t until you began singing in the shower and dancing around the living room that he began to think something else was making you happy, or rather someone else was making you happy. You were meeting Jungkook that night, it was your sixth month together and you were planning on a picnic under the skylight, with a movie, snacks and cuddling together, he’d been busy with something his dad was making him do lately so spending time together was varied at the minute, but whenever you weren’t together you were texting or calling when your father was finally asleep on a night time, where you would fall asleep to the sound of his voice, telling you a story of something he had to do that day, but it was never about his family business. It always about something he or his friends did, you’d grown to know his friends through photos and names, he told you that he and his friends had been planning to leave the family business behind, go into something else. None of them wanted what their fathers had in mind for them, it was all too much for them, they wanted a simple life. Marriage, kids and growing old together without all the violence and wars, and you had agreed. You wanted that too, you’d never wanted the family business, even though it was going to be passed to you once your father did die.
“Daddy, I’ll be going now.” You said going into his office and giving him a kiss on the cheek, he waited until you were out of ear sight and nodded at another one of his guards, Evan.
“Follow her, find out who’s making her so happy and report back to me."
"Kookie! I brought us some hot chocolates and some-” You stopped midsentence, all the lights were out in the shop, the only thing that was producing any light was in the attic, you climbed the ladder awkwardly, trying not to drop the two hot chocolates, you reached the top to find rose petals scattered along the floor and candles lit everywhere, your usual pillow fortress filled with heart-shaped pillows, with other blankets laid around on the floor for comfort.
“Kookie?” You giggled seeing him standing there, he was dressed in a black suit and tie, a rose attached to his buttonhole, he came closer to you and took the drinks from you, placing them down on a coffee table and embracing you in a hug, his arms wrapped around the small of your back and yours around his neck, he was a romantic at heart and it made you fall for him even more.
“Hi.” He whispered to you, bending down and kissing you, instantly you felt the rest of the world melt away from you, nothing else mattered to you now except his lips on yours.
“I love you.” He admitted to you, pulling away and looking deep into your eyes,
“I don’t care if it’s too soon or whatever but it’s the truth…I love you and I’m going to do whatever I can to make you happy.” You were crying now, tears rolling down your cheeks,
“I love you too.” You whispered back to him, kissing him, the kiss was sloppy and wet, mostly because of your tears but he picked you up in his arms, your legs wrapping around his waist and your hands tangling into his brown locks.
“Fuck I love you so much,” He moaned as you tugged at his hair a little harder, you giggled and began kissing his neck, sucking a little to leave your mark on his body.
“Show me how much you love me,” You whispered into his ear before gently biting it and looking into his eyes, they were dark with lust now and he smirked, attacking your neck with kisses this time and laying you down on the pillows below.
The moonlight coming through the skylight and the bell above the door woke you up, you groaned turning over under a blanket to see Jungkook lying there naked, nothing covering you both but a thin blanket, he was looking up at the stars, you smiled at him and laid your head on his bare chest. He smiled back down at you and his fingers traced your skin lightly, neither of you wanted the night to come to an end, but you knew it was going to have to.
“I love you Kookie.” You said at the door, he smirked at you, kissing you again, you’d been trying to leave for the last twenty minutes, every time you would try to leave the shop he would pin you down and attack you with kisses, but it was late and you knew there were going to be questions but you didn’t care right now, all you cared about was Jungkook, you looked at the purple marks on his neck and blushed a deep shade of red, you ran your finger along them and kissed his cheek, you really did have to go now, it was 9 pm, way past your allowed times and you knew you were going to have to come up with a really good lie to get out of this one.
“I love you too, I’ll see you Wednesday.” He whispered in your ear, watching you walk away to find Taylor.
You’d gotten away with telling your dad you’d gone to a different city over, and lost time in a new museum you’d found,
“Dad? What’s going on?” You questioned later that night, you heard yelling coming from the basement and you knew he never brought business back home, he hated bringing unwanted business into the home and you went to investigate, his goons were blocking the door but you continued to shout down the staircase to him, you heard grunting and then your name being moaned out.
“Jungkook?” You whispered, kicking one of the guards in his shin and sprinting down the staircase, making it to the bottom when you were being dragged back by one of the guards, Jungkook was knelt on the floor, dressed in his suit, his shirt a bloody mess, tie ripped up and on the floor, his face badly beaten up, his eyes were so swollen you could hardly see the beautiful colour you loved so much anymore, there was bloody spit dripping down his chin and he was barely able to kneel in one place, he was swaying side to side. Your heart hit the floor as you watched your dad hit him across the face again with a set of knuckle dusters.
“DADDY!” You screamed grabbing his attention, Jungkook’s head flopped forward and you shook off the guard, rushing to Jungkook and trying to steady him, your dad looked at you as you gripped onto Jungkook’s arms making him look at you, you wanted to cry out right there and then.
“Move, I don’t want to hit you.” You shook your head, standing in front of your boyfriend and looking at your dad pleading with him with your eyes not to do this.
“If you hit him you’re hurting me.” You pleaded but your dad pushed you aside and a guard came to pick you up but you kicked him in the face, his nose busting open instantly, blood hitting the floor but you didn’t care, all you cared about right now was getting your boyfriend, the love of your life, out of there.
“Let him go dad…I’ll never see him again, leave him alone please.” You were crying now, tears streaming down your cheeks, you turned to look at Jungkook praying this would work and he would be let go, you would do anything to save him right now, him being hurt was killing you.
“Please Dad, I’ll do anything. Just please, don’t hurt him…Please.” Taylor came down into the basement after hearing you scream out and wanted to see what was going on, as soon as he saw you he went to take hold of you but you pushed him away, staying beside Jungkook who was spitting blood onto the floor through his busted lip, all you wanted to do was take him back to the bookshop clean him up and promise this would never happen again, and stay with him forever.
“Let him go, take him back to whatever hole he crawled out of and You!” You dad screamed grabbing your attention, Taylor was untying Jungkook now and you were keeping your eyes on him making sure he was okay, not wanting to even look at your father yet.
“You’re never going to leave this house again! Do I make myself clear?” You nodded and Jungkook was pushed onto his feet, Taylor steadying him as he stood in front of you, you cupped his face and tried to look him in the eyes but it was hard with them being swollen, you sobbed out a little at the thought of never seeing him again.
“I love you Kookie.” You whispered to him, kissing his cheek lightly so you wouldn’t hurt him even more and watching as Taylor walked him out of the basement, you knew Taylor would get him home safe, or at least out of the area safe, Taylor could be trusted.
“I said do I make myself clear?!” You dad screamed at you, you wiped the tears from your cheek and faced him, you didn’t want to look weak in front of him or scared of him.
“Yes. But I’m no longer considered your daughter, understood?” You screamed back, he took your phone out from your pocket smashing it against the floor.
“Don’t even think about trying to call him, you’re forbidden from leaving this house.” You turned on your heels, to see the same guard you’d kicked in the face waiting for you,
“I can escort myself.” But he grabbed your wrist cruelly and walked you up the staircase of the basement and towards the staircase to your bedroom.
“Get up. Get up now.” You rolled over to see Taylor standing beside your bed, you hadn’t left your room in a week, you hadn’t eaten anything since the night Jungkook was taken away from you and you had heard nothing from him, no news about if he was safe or not.
“Taylor, go away. I don’t care.” You sobbed into the pillow that you had been clutching onto for life, but he pulled you up to look at him. You looked around and he had an overnight bag on his shoulder and a smaller handbag with him.
“Taylor? What’s happening?” You looked at the clock beside your bed, it was 3 am, he nodded at the window in your room, the bars were blocking it, your dad had them installed them to stop you from getting out, you’d tried that first night but he had a guard manning the window until the bars were finished, he was keeping you like a prisoner.
“He’s in his office, asleep, I slipped him some pills and the other guards are asleep, let’s go.” You dove out of the bed and began to find some clothes to change into, not changing the sweater you were in but slipping into some black leggings, you didn’t have much time to worry about what you looked like, all you were worried about was getting out of that house and rushing out of the door with Taylor, he helped you into the car and handed you some shoes, your dad had thrown all yours out, stating there was no need for them anymore. You weren’t going to be going anywhere.
“Taylor where are we going, you’ll get killed if he finds out you’ve taken me out.” You were too focused on him doing the wrong thing you hadn’t noticed you were outside the book shop, another black SUV waiting for you.
“J-Jungkook?” You stuttered out noticing the bookshop, at last, you jumped out of the car without a second thought and rushed through the front door, you stayed still in the doorway and saw him, standing there was Jungkook, his arm was in a sling, his face was still badly beaten but it had gone down since the last time you saw him, your heart began to race as soon as your eyes met, you sprinted into him, making him hiss as you hit his bad arm, but he didn’t care, he wrapped his one good arm around your waist, he lent down and connected your lips, his hand moved to your face and it rested below your ear, his thumb caressing your cheek, the moment he kissed you the world fell away, nothing mattered, your dad wasn’t in your mind and the fact that you were with Jungkook and he was save was what mattered, nothing else. His tongue pressed to your lip and you let him in, your arms around his neck drawing him closer, you could never get enough of him.
“The car is loaded, passports are in the front with money. Get out of here.” Taylor said interrupting you both, you pulled away, leaning your forehead against his and smiling, his eyes were shining back at you, and you turned to look at Taylor, he was holding a set of car keys, you let go of Jungkook and went over to Taylor and drawing him into a tight hug.
“You get out of here too, if he finds out you helped us…You’ll…” He shook his head, promising he’d made plans for himself already. Jungkook looked at you and took your hand in his, finally happy to be getting away from everything,
“Let’s go.” You nodded and rushed out to the car, the sun was starting to rise now and you had just enough time to drive to the nearest airport and just run away together. Once you were inside the car and buckled up he took your hand in his again, he never wanted to let you go, ever, he told you to open up the glove box, inside was a small velvet box.
“I’m not asking you to marry me yet but I am promising that I will be here. Always.” You slipped the diamond ring onto your finger and took the golden band and placed it on his finger and smiling at him,
“Always.” You whispered back to him, kissing him on the lips and looking out of the window at the road.
“Now let’s run away together.”
