i was talking to renn the other day about how the bartylus dynamic is actually directly tied to the black brothers dynamic. like i was trying to figure out why i see bartylus in two opposite ways. either violently codependent or this healthy secret third thing. and i came to the conclusion that if reg and sirius have a bad relationship, bartylus will have a bad relationship too. if reg isn’t getting the love he wants from sirius, he will seek it out in barty. and from there it becomes this constant give and take between them. because barty knows regulus needs to be loved and wanted and he will give that to him in any way he can. while on the other hand if reg and sirius have a good relationship, barty is free to just be regulus’ friend or boyfriend or whatever. like there will still be that knowing there. where barty can read regulus and is ready to be there for him whenever, but it’s never regulus’ whole world. because he has sirius.
