I started watching Person of Interest in 2021 and watched the final episode last week. (There was an 8 month hiatus in there after Jim Caviezel went mask-off conspiracy theorist asshole when I couldn’t stand looking at him, but I got over it and returned to watching the show.)
I’m grateful for this show. I made fandom friends, wrote some not-terrible fic, read lots of phenomenal fic, and did a series of episode reaction posts (check out ‘#miro does poi’) that were fun to write and are fun to revisit when they occasionally get notes.
Ive seen a lot of negativity in the fandom towards the last two seasons, especially season 5, and I absolutely get it. The thing that I fell in love with about the show was the chemistry and connection between Harold and John and how that connection evolved over time and in relation to the other main characters and the numbers. I loved the “case of the week” format.
In season 4 when the show started to get more wrapped up in the war between Samaritan and the Machine, I lost some interest. When that storyline consumed the entire show in season 5, I will readily acknowledge that the story was well done, and compelling, but it felt like a lot of other Fate of the World At Stake “Prestige Television” without the heart and the character chemistry that made me love the show in the first place.
I’m sure the team behind the show didn’t want to keep making the same show forever, and they clearly had big ideas that they wanted to explore (some of which they picked up again in Westworld). I’m curious if they could have kept more of the character focus if they had had 23 episodes instead of 13 in season 5, so they had more time to put all the pieces in place for the big super AI fight.
I think my main takeaway from finishing Person of Interest is that I want to go back and watch seasons 1 and 2 again. Maybe season 3 as well. And then stop there.

Not trying to start shit, but, I think the fallout show is going to suck. Like by default. Ive seen so many things I love and have passion for, just... Die. Ive been with fallout almost since the start. If I have no expectations then I won't be dissapointed. I really do hope it can be like Westworld or Man do have have a good season or 2 to watch.

hi so unfortunately I can't watch that really good award winning TV show you've been raving about, and that I promised to watch, because in a moment of weakness I started an animated TV series that I don't even find funny that also ended in 2011

Season 3 of Westworld is my favorite, and I came out of it shipping Maeve and Dolores (cause lbr, we all fell a little in love with her at the end there). But don’t ever ask me outright which season is my favorite cause I will likely not have an answer and then I will glitch out and break and freeze like a malfunctioning host.

you know some days i do struggle to find things to be grateful for bc the past like 18 months or so i just accidentally rewired my brain to make that way harder for myself but as soon as i think about the fact that season 4 of westworld gave me half of my otp making a fucked up frankenstein's monster duplicate of the other half and then constantly comparing him unfavorably to the original whom she cryogenically preserved bc she couldn't bear to follow through on killing him i feel like ive gained 5 years onto my life

V; THESE VIOLENT DELIGHTS HAVE VIOLENT ENDS ! [ westworld au ]
In the near future technology has advanced so rapidly that is now beyond anything humanity thought capable. Leading this technological age is the Delos Corporation & behind it, in the shadows, is the old money that finances them. For many years those private sponsors, a reclusive & eccentric family, had been content to wait for results, but now, with rumours of disaster in the air, the Addamses are keen to check in on their last great venture. ...tbc.

HBO Cancels ‘Westworld’ in Shock Decision
Tumblr media
The acclaimed sci-fi drama is considered finished after its recent fourth season, despite creators hoping for a fifth season to wrap things up.
The network has decided to cancel the sci-fi drama after its recent fourth season.
It’s an unexpected fate for a series that was once considered one of HBO’s biggest tentpoles — an acclaimed mystery box drama that racked up 54 Emmy award nominations (including a supporting actress win for Thandiwe Newton).
Last month, co-creator Jonathan Nolan said in an interview that he hoped HBO would give the series a fifth season to wrap up the show’s ambitious story, which has chronicled a robot uprising that changed the fate of humanity. “We always planned for a fifth and final season,” Nolan said. “We are still in conversations with the network. We very much hope to make them.” Co-creator Lisa Joy likewise said the series has always been working towards a specific ending: “Jonah and I have always had an ending in mind that we hope to reach. We have not quite reached it yet.”
