Prompt 262
Pondering Ghosts are Dragons, and just rotating each design in my head I have for them. That is the ghosts we see in the show more than just once or twice lol. Just pondering each of them and potential types and descriptions and how the people of Amity see them, as they’re used to the dragons around, vs say someone from Outside, crossover or no, who are Not used to the maybe slightly eldritch undeath interdimensional dragons around everywhere.
That is not normal for other people.
To the Amity Parkers? Boxy is simply a chonky dragon with small boxy wings and covered in blue scales. To people just coming into the city, it’s like seeing a giant komodo dragon when you’re just walking home- not something you exactly want to see and something that is dangerous.
Kitty’s and Johnny’s weekly relationship tussle? Par for the course really. But to visitors? Two giant wyverns tearing into each other, shimmering greens that could be scales, could be tendrils, and shadows lengthening and thrashing like a living beast all its own.
And this is just the small dragonlings, not even beginning with larger ones like Pandora and Fright Knight, chill as they may be.
Outsiders don’t understand that they’re more than just animals. Amity is used to this, but people who have no clue what’s going on? They don’t.
They call the police, the heroes, the government, for help, for answers. And that? That the GIW can use.
#DCxDP#DPxDC#Prompts#Danny Phantom Crossover#Ghosts are Dragons#Guys in White#Of course the GIW quickly find out they can’t just spirit the ghosts away either#Because people want ANSWERS and the biologists & cryptozoologists are Both going RABID#Not to mention it’s hard to even get into Amity with how the locals *Hate* them along with the dragons#Several heroes & rogues enter the city to investigate on their own#... right on a day Pariah is visiting his adopted ghostling#GIW might make an itty bitty mistake there…#Danny is not ghost king#Pariah Dark x Clockwork#CW is long sinewy serpentine dragon with many small legs & large wings#PD is big bulky western-style dragon w/ forward facing horns & mostly dark scales#Danny is tiny noodly western dragon w/ same swirl patterns as CW & dark scales as PD#Every other ghost assumes he’s bio theirs & they’re pretending he’s not because the Observants#Yes there is potentially 2 or 3 storylines happening at once lol#Fright Knight is Pariah Dark’s brother#He lacks wings but has big gliding fin-webbings & blade tail

9.16.24 / 9.17.24 - september supermoon
#last img is a composite btw. wanted moon clarity AND noise blowout; had to get clever to have both#‘she’s was so big and bright last night!’ - my mom#did you know the moon completes its orbit around earth in 27.3 days? it also completes a spin along it’s axis every 27.3 days#so we always see the same side of moon locally; but it depends on where you’re at on earth#the lunar cycle completes every 29.5 days - as opposed to the 27.3 it takes to complete its own orbit;#that’s a difference of 2.2 days!#something something pythagorean comma#like the leap year! a sidereal year is 365.25 days; every four cycles we gain a ‘semitone’ - an extra day#in musical scale: if you complete a circle of fifths using just intervals of perfect fifths; you’ll gain a quarter of a semitone#the interval leading from an old octave into a new one. like a step forward; a comma which denotes transition#so not a ‘circle’ but a spiral/fractal#in western music we flatten each fifth by a 12th of a pythagorean comma to give us our seven ‘perfect octaves’#also called ‘equal temperament’#this flattens each fifth by ~2 cents to eliminate the perceived discordance cause by the slight bump in tone#I’m not saying there’s a metaphysical connection between the chromatic scale and lunar activity#but#it’s neat when you notice that our moon (and other celestial neighbors) move with a sense of musicality#even if that is a modal sense of musicality and not a tonal sense#my art#aesthetic#art#artwork#webcore#internetcore#glitchcore#abstract#artists on tumblr#photography#lunar#moon

you know, i can handle a little bit of fun "Nandor is dumb" talk, but i have a net-zero tolerance for any implication that Nandor is not educated.
Nandor would have been incredibly educated in his lifetime.
even (or especially) as a soldier in the Islamic World. being a soldier was more like getting sent to boarding school that's also a military camp. they weren't just concerned with creating loyal fodder for war. they were building the next government officials, generals, accountants, advisors, etc. it was important that young men knew how to read, write, speak multiple languages, learn philosophy...sometimes even studying art and music was mandatory.
if he was nobility (and its most likely he was), take all that shit and multiply it exponentially. Nandor would have been reading Plato at the same age most people are still potty training. he would have been specifically groomed in such a way to not be just a brilliant strategist and warrior, but also diplomate and ambassador of literally the center of scientific and cultural excellence of the age.
so like yeah, he can be a big dummy sometimes, sure. but that bitch is probably more educated than any of us will ever be.
#wwdits#nandor the relentless#Nandor#what we do in the shadows#i think its obvious by how much Nandor loves to read that he grew up educated#it's one of my favorite character traits of his#anyways#this was just your local psa abt the depth of Nandor's character and intelligence#and how the medieval islamic world was like - so much more advanced than it's western counterpart it's hilarious how ppl mischaracterize it#(by hilarious i mean it makes me want to break something)#this was in my drafts lolol what did i read that made me vent this? idk#also 'islamic world' is just a term some historians use to describe a specific geographical location and historical age#kind of how 'western world' is used today#it doesn't mean it's specific to one religion or nation but the broader time and location#meaning that Al Qolindar or Persia or Ilkhanate or w/e you want to call where Nandor came from#the same expectations of education and it's vibrant social/cultural world remain an accurate image of the middle east in the medieval age#if you come from the west like me#think The Forum + The Library of Alexandria + Paris/Florence + and idk anything else u think of when u think of 'Western Excellence'#and then imagine of all of that in one place at one time and then u might get close to what the world Nandor was living in as a human

i know it’s been said a thousand times but why DONT the grossly wealthy do good stuff even if only for the ego trip and/or stunt value? even if you didn’t care about your fellow man at all imagine how fun it’d be to buy up a bunch of rental housing scattered all throughout a given area and slash the rents by half. u get people sucking your dick in the media AND the spectacle of every other landlord screaming and crying and throwing up to compete….that’s good wholesome fun right there
#you could go to a local school and be like hey i’ll start you guys an endowment equivalent to the economy of a western state#if u let me name the mascot after a niche anime character. what’re they gonna do? say no?#anyway

In a recent post, you talk about how certain media will have QPOC characters that "feel white." Are you willing to explain more on how that happens? I'm a QPOC person that writes a decent amount of QPOC characters, and it's always interesting seeing other people's takes on how to handle that in stories.
Sure! Most of the time when I say a QPOC character "feels white" is that it lacks intersectionality. Intersectionality is about acknowledging how different marginalized identities manifest in a person, creating a unique experience. Most writers assume QPOC are just "white queer person with a palette change" instead of "we go through similar things but in an entirely different way".
A good example is Heartstopper (A show I like btw!! I can only speak for the tv show and season 1!). It's often incorrectly dismissed as fluff/escapism when it's actually a show that talks directly about marginalization (transphobia, homophobia, etc.) specific to Britain, and some really dark topics come up sometimes. But I was surprised at how little (if not at all?) racism was brought up as something QPOC struggle with. The plot with Tara (a Black girl) and Darcy (a white girl) coming out as a lesbian couple but Tara ended up struggling with the backlash was the perfect opportunity to talk about how she deals with compounded racism, sexism, and homophobia (perhaps even from her own community). But it wasn't brought up at all in that season. I'm sure this gets expanded on in future seasons but it did feel like a huge missed opportunity to me, especially since the show was so open to directly talking about queerphobia. It ends up looking selective about what issues the writer is comfortable talking about.
Intersectionality connects with everything, including joyful stories. A queer paradise to me is a world where we reclaim indigenous queer culture that was suppressed by colonialism, a place where we don't have to cut our cultural ties and end up embracing a westernized version of queer identity, where our language expands to include queer people, where we acknowledge that things like "body positivity" and disability acceptance are inherently linked with racial justice, where we can be whole. In these narratives with QPOC that "feel white", something is always lost. Whether that be culture, language, religion, anything. In She-Ra, the QPOC are just that. We get a dumpling once and a while as "representation" but that's it.
#askjesncin#media criticism#if u asked me if I like She-Ra btw I would say yes! I enjoy that show. It's fun. But I can also critique it#there was a point where I got honestly fed up reading western “diverse queer books” bcuz I couldn't connect to the QPOC characters#I read queer stories from local authors and it was a world of difference. yea the stories hurt but they were willing to acknowledge-#-lived realities and hardship. instead of erasing it to create a convenient narrative for white ppl

Same, same, but different?
Can’t wait to welcome Playful Land coming to EN! This is to kick off the end of September. I always thought Loyalty Lock! Mors and Cloche are like foils to Fellow and Gidel- Mors is rich, formally educated, and harbours no affection for Cloche at all. An encounter or swap between the duos would be interesting-
#may mors get over his beastfolk racism 😔#hmmm I wonder if I should make a separate AU for LL Mors and Cloche to be together…#gidel is so cute!!! baby- son- 😭😭#I don’t personally mind the localized names since we’re so used to suspending our disbelief with literal western names in JP media-#loyalty lock#oc: cloche🎊#oc: cloche goldbelle#oc: mors clematis#cat scratches 🌸#twisted wonderland#twst#twst oc#twst ocs#twisted wonderland oc#twst playful land#playful land event#twst fellow#honest fellow#twst gidel#twisted wonderland gidel#ernesto foulworth#twst gino#twst art#twst fanart#twisted wonderland art#twisted wonderland fanart#ツイステ#ツイステッドワンダーランド

palestine is a wake up call to all the people in the global south and all countries and peoples that have experienced colonialism by western empires. especially following the western world's response to ukraine.
when you're flooded with footage of children starving, their bodies shredded by missiles, shrapnel and collapsed buildings, when you see once vibrant, beautiful lands reduced in seconds to rubble . . . you realize how easy it is to provoke a white man. all you have to do is a be a person of colour on your land with all its natural resources. that's it. all you have to do is exist on the same soil as your ancestors. and if a white man says you're in the way of his expansion, it doesn't matter what moral ethics you think white people have. it really doesn't matter what you expect of a human being. what conscience you think they have.
you will die. no one will rescue you. they will murder you. torture you. they will justify it. they will make jokes about it. and years later, when it's not too inconvenient for their people to feel guilt, they will feel sorry and still make what they did to you about them. about their "human complexity" and their "nuance." your people will be dead for thousands of years before they "apologize" (not to you but) to their descendants. and even then they'll lie. they'll blame the "internal conflicts of the region." conveniently leaving out who supplies the guns and military gangs. why. what they get in return.
what's happening in congo, tigray, palestine, haiti, iran, afghanistan, etc is not an isolated event. you cannot afford to think so. it's literally what they did from the 17th-20th centuries. the exact same tactics. the exact same propaganda. these are millions of people dying and set up to die within this year alone.
white man sees resource, white man cuts a bloody path toward it. he is superior, so it's his right. it's that simple.
if you are self-righteous about politics (especially toward western empires like france, britain, russia, canada and the u.s., etc.) please understand that the only thing between your "peaceful" or stable country and all-out war is how agreeable you are to the demands of these empires. please don't think these people have evolved or will consider you in any way. they will nuke you, too, if you resist. that isn't peace. we don't have peace with them. they aren't peaceful. complying under threat of war isn't peace. coercion is not consent.
if these insane people can hear from the mouths of their own scientists that their wars are killing their own people and accelerating the death of life on this planet, i don't know why you'd think they have a shred of humanity left in them. that there's anyone in this life they could possibly care for.
reject that lie. that you can appeal to their humanity. how many fucking "peace talks" have we had since hitler? for fucks sake. begin to build your community and focus your aid and efforts on each other. be aware, but also think smaller. focus on local businesses and markets rather than imports. let's change the way we consume (this is hugely important). wherever you are, whichever people concern you, take care of your own communities. give back. even if you're part of the diaspora. just find a way to give back and strengthen your communities. don't let "the drain" empty out in the west. i'm not claiming its simple work, or that i have all the answers. i'm just saying increase your awareness of how these empires and their propaganda function and don't give into them however you can afford to. you know what you can do. you know your own communities and countries better than i do. and we all know that one of the prime ways the empires keep us weak is by destroying or own intracommunity solidarity.
because there is no UN we can appeal to. there is no western "mediator" we can rely on.
they'd kill us all if it wouldn't tank their economy.
internalize that. don't ever let them coax any trust out of you. there is no "international unity" we can have with them because their prosperity will always require our suffering. resist, at least, by reclaiming your mind from them. see them outside of how they have conditioned you to see them. every time your president shakes one of their hands, see the blood smearing them.
don't trust a single word out of their dirty, lying mouths.
#the u.s. and kenya have recently been in a lot of talks#and with it has come a series of bad news#it is now illegal for local farmers to sell indigenous seed#which you just KNOW is for the benefit of usa gmo markets#more us and western political ambassadors are settling in kenya as well#we're so cooked lol#we're so fucking cooked#free palestine#free sudan#free congo#haiti#not a pan-africanist bc i think this global movement should extend to all the southeast#free iran#free tigray#free yemen#free haiti#sudan#palestine#congo#tigray#make your money abroad if you must#but don't let it stay there#these parasites will take everything they can#majority world countries are you seeing what i'm seeing?#because i know you are#globalism#humanitarian crisis#racism#colonialism#imperialism

weirdos on Twitter loooove to assume that for any given localization job that the original Japanese is INHERENTLY better, as if one of the most common goals in localization isn't 'turn dogwater writing into something interesting'
#spitblaze says things#have we forgotten Ghost Stories. which sucked so bad they just turned it into a comedy full of improv#also the amount of times the CREATORS look st localizations and go 'damn this is better than the original actually'#did u know that just bc something is from japan doesnt mean its better#did u know that just bc localizers touch it with their Filthy Western Hands doesnt mean something is ruined#i keep thinking about the ppl complaining about neo twewys localization job#as if squenix games arent translated IN HOUSE WITH DIRECT CREATOR INPUT#and one of the biggest parts of twewy is its encapsulation and focus on society's shifting trends and ideas and language#minor gripe. a while ago some rando waltzed into the octopath server im in and was like#'hey has anyone done a retranslation i assume they butchered the original japanese'#the first reaponse was 'no thank god' and everyone clowned on this loser

Capitalism and colonialism took community away from us and I want it back. I’ve heard about it from my grandparents and in books and articles online. All throughout history and still today in some parts of the world. People looking out for each other. Regularly. Relentlessly. Neighbors watching each others children, having enough food to share and actually sharing it, being invested in each others lives because everyone has different strengths.
Today community has been strategically painted as a weakness and something to be skeptical of because it is a threat to the very foundations of capitalism. And that’s a real fucking shame because in reality, growing up with community and still having that through adulthood would probably make most people generally happier and less perpetually tired and stressed. It is renewable resilient versatile adaptable self-sustaining and kind of the Ultimate Resource.

When Christianity is gone, nature will heal. Honestly though, the cognitive dissonance required to be devoted to a slave religion death cult really makes me understand why every historical society had some kind of class/ caste system. These people are incapable of critical thought and only survive because the billionaire oligarchs want them to
#canwediscuss#feminism#anti christianity#reminder that christianity was a tool of conquerors#kill the local leaders and force conversion on everyome#reminder that all of their holidays are pagan#anything a christian loves about christianity is not the christian part#joke about white people not having culture#you can thank the christians#the vibrant cultures of europe are pagan#the mass conversion of africa is a transaction of food for baptism#these people dont believe#they just want food and thats worth getting dunked and putting a book om your shelf#200 years from now “black people dont have a culture”#because christianity#also female oppression in western cultures is christian#as is the effeminization of males

the paradesi synagogue in kochi, kerala, india. the first synagogue on the site, built by the city's longstanding malabari jewish community, was destroyed by portugese who'd colonized the area in their persecution of locals. it was rebuilt in 1568 by spanish and portugese jews who fled persecution and later expulsion, hence the name "paradesi" ("foreign" in malayalam).
these sephardic jews and a community of jews of mixed african and european descent who were formerly enslaved ("meshuchrarim", "freedmen" in hebrew) joined the malabari jewish community of kochi and somewhat integrated. they were later joined by some iraqi, persian, yemenite, afghan, and dutch sephardic jews. the middle eastern and european jews were considered "white jews" and permitted malabari jews and meshuchrarim to worship in the synagogue. however, in what seems like a combination of local caste dynamics and racism, malabari jews were not allowed full membership. meshuchrarim weren't allowed in at all, but were instead made to sit outside during services and not allowed their own place of worship or other communal rights.
as the "white jews" tended to be rather wealthy from trade, this synagogue contains multiple antiquities. they include belgian glass chandeliers on its walls, hand-painted porcelain tiles from china on its floors, and an oriental rug that was gifted by ethiopian emperor haile selassie.
#india#architecture#interior#worship#jewish#sephardic#mizrahi#abrahamic kerala#my posts#this seems like a combo of european racism & s asian casteism but idk anything abt castes so idk how right i am#imo the attitude of the paradesi sephardim sort of echoes what went on w/ portugese & st thomas christians#though they were also influenced by ''jewish racism'' (someone not being an ''authentic'' jew or 100% jewish in lineage)#also its interesting that most paradesi jews who left india went to other commonwealth countries while most malabar jews went to occupied#palestine (for the same reason indian muslims went to pakistan more or less). something something the west's unwanted refugee dumping groun#also i'm not saying the portugese didn't persecute against locals who practiced other religions just that there was a Very Specific type of#persecution st thomas christians and malabari jews faced from them#one more thing: i think most americans dont know (and western europeans like to forget) that the transatlantic slave trade went into#western europe as well. even if most w euro countries outlawed slavery before the us did#and also that ‘white’ has never had a linear definition (yemenites are very not ‘white’-looking to the average american)
