Jacob Anderson is so fucking real. Like we see eye to eye frfr. That quote where he's like "Let's be monsters and enjoy it. Let's be problematic. Give us the space to be a problem." Like ooooh... Hes so real. Im so tired of people being scared of writing black villains because of The Implications™. There is a genuine lack of black people in horror and when we are included we are just the sassy best friend, the athlete, the one who dies first, or the magical negro. Hardly ever have I seen a horror with a black momster. Even outside of horror black people are hardly ever villains and it's just so unfair man. Black people LONG for good black villains I know they do. We deserve to be evil we deserve to be petty we deserve to hurt. Jacob I understand...

The context for this is essentially:

Todd: What even is self-care, really? Approximately everybody around him: Jesus fucking Christ. Would you like us to look after you a little bit Todd: ... Todd: No. What the fuck is wrong with everyone here.

Also this is a fun and EXTREMELY maddening A/P to write because I usually tend to go down the "mature and communicative and pretty sure of their feelings about each other" route, but this Neil and Todd bloomed of their own volition into the two most ridiculously oblivious people my pen has ever met. This particular draft of the fic has two comments on it and both of them are me screaming at Todd to understand the words which are being said to his face.

(Also: this snippet cuts off right before Neil starts calling his car the Neilmobile and refuses to stop.)

seeing some of the comments and takes people have about Arcane is crazy, bc why is being a Caitlyn Kirammin stan starting to feel like being a Abby Anderson stan

i’m being so serious the lack of media literacy and empathy in discussions surrounding those characters is CRAZY

Arcane has complex characters for a REASON, same with tlou, there is no “good” or “bad guy”. Also (no hate to Jinx bc i love the character) but bending over backwards to excuse EVERYTHING she’s done, but tearing down Caitlyn for literally anything? It’s hypocritical at this point,

Going back to the Stargate movie for the first time in a long time, I find it amazing how much of James Spader's inflections carry over into Michael Shanks' acting.

And I remembered that Rick played Jack as disillusioned and not in any way actively suicidal, but I find it remarkable how much "suicidal but absolutely in the grip of his military training" characterizes Kurt Russell's Jack. And Rick's version eliminates entirely the underpinning military ideology that grounds the movie character—and which I've frankly seen in veterans of my acquaintance, where it can act as if the only stable pillar of their identity in a world to which they can no longer fully adapt because of trauma. Kurt Russell is frankly playing that character believably. And Richard Dean Anderson is playing someone else, whose son also happened to die the same way, and who went on the same mission in his universe, but whose trauma complex is not using his military identity as a coping mechanism.

You know what’s funny? Gavin putting his hands on Connor or even aiming a gun at him is competely optional. It’s all up to the player. None of it is technically canon.

But Hank laying his hands on Connor, saying “Listen, asshole. If it was up to me, I'd throw the lot of you in a dumpster and set a match to it. So, stop pissing me off... or things are gonna get nasty” and aiming a gun at him is canon no matter what.

And yet, Gavin is labelled the asshole 🤔
