A good day in Wellington happens only 7% of the time

Based on data since January 1, 1954 only 7% of days in Wellington have ever been good, let alone unbeatable.

That is only 1839 days, or just over five years, of unbeatable Wellington skies across 69 years.

A 'good day" was defined as a day where the temperature rose above 18C, rain was less than 0.5mm, average wind speeds were below 15km/h and more than 75% of daylight hours were sunny.

By this definition there is a yearly average of 26 good days in Wellington.

The latest spinoff of What We Do in the Shadows focuses on the mental health staff of the New Zealand police force as they attempt to help the cops of Wellington Paranormal cope with their jobs.

I feel the need to shout out John Rhys-Davies's size/stunt double, Brett Beattie, who would have been the one to film the scene above (and most shots showing Gimli with human-sized characters where you can't see his face clealry). Brett was the one to get the Fellowship tattoo with the others, instead of John. (And damn, seeing the picture of him getting the tattoo makes me feel nostalgic... If you ever get a chance to visit Rogers Tatoo Art on Cuba Street in Wellington, NZ, where the Fellowship got their tattoos, take it! It's an amazing place full of history.)

I am dancing at the RSCDS annual summer school and have gotten to do some Rock n Roll dance and Step Dancing in the extra classes. I am having the time of my life!

We have teachers and musicians and plenty of dancers in the evening Balls.

How lovely it is to be in the company of musical people!

Bye bye Wellington and New Zealand.

Been through immigration and security, waiting to board my rebooked Qantas flight to Melbourne and on to Bangkok with Thai Airways 12.30am tomorrow, then four hours by bus back to the family around noon Sunday.

Not the end, but a big life change ahead, and no plans on returning to NZ, didn't intend to be here this long.

Thanks for the memories.

April Fool's day from Air NZ!

NOTE: I was booked to fly to Sydney at 6.30am but Air New Zealand cancelled, not postponed, that flight. It was a ten hours wait, and fortunate to get a seat with Qantas.

Then in Melbourne a further six hours waiting for the re-booked flight with Thai Airways, my favourite airline.

Extremely disappointed with Air NZ. Their communication was appalling. I don't usually fly with them (Qantas, Singapore, Thai my preferences) and certainly would not ever book international flights with them again.

Our overnight hotel booking and airport transfers in Bangkok were wasted - I wasn't there!

hi just an update about end of year events!

in two weeks I have a double weekend with zinefest and GGWP, auckland armageddon on labour weekend, then a couple more markets a month later.

my store will close during events but I'm pretty good at getting it back open a day or two afterwards.
