the teasers for future eps were super neat! plus bill's page saying that he likes mabel's chaos and silly straws and also mentioning stopping time which he ended up doing for weirdmageddon

these two sections being teasers about ford is fun too (the six fingered hand belonging to someone who looks a lot like stan indeed)

i'm fond of these two bits as well, the first being a reference to the first stanco product but also showing how stan now knows how to take advantage of its flaws, and his drawing having a mullet and his signature being $P which i find so cute

the future dipper section seems like a reference to the original s2 opening concept of an apparent future dipper traveling back in time claiming that mabel had died (honestly super curious about the crew's ideas for that)

i'm pretty curious about how much of the rest of the show was finished when the book was being written, with the gideon running for mayor concept being pretty old i think, the general "dipper wanting to take on an apprenticeship cos he wants to grow up fast" being planned for a while (altho the first concept was the agents making the offer and not ford) and the apocalypse always being the show's intended end

I actually really appreciated the fact that Mabel is selfish. A good character has flaws that aren't just "quirky and clumsy". And as much as I felt that the narrative let her get away with quite a lot without her learning, it didn't really bother me for most of the series.

And then Weirdmageddon 2 happened.

Like that one anon said, Mabel being upset with Dipper's decision and giving away Bill the rift was understandable. She was obviously very attached to her brother and Bill took advantage of her vulnerable emotional state. Hell, even her desire to stop time and escape from reality is quite understandable with the context.

However, I mean it when I say that no other scene from a cartoon ever pissed me off as much as the one where we find out that Mabel created a "cooler" version of her brother. It's one thing to be really sad and upset about your twin potentially moving out and it's another to literally pick a knock off of your twin over the real one. And on top of that she's not even embarrased when real Dipper sees it? And on top of that Dipper is still pushed by the narrative to essentially sacrifice a chance at quality education and a chance to study something that really interests him after she practically rubbed it at his face??

This is why all the "Dipper was just as selfish as Mabel" that started popping up all over my Twitter feed just seems really far-fetched to me. Dipper did have his moments (see time travel episode), but ultimately, he would always choose his sister. Too bad the same couldn't be said about Mabel.

(Let me just state, that if the narrative called Mabel out and she became slightly less selfish by the end off the series, I wouldn't be this frustrated, but ultimately they didn't and just basically threw Dipper under the bus instead. Props to the comics for having her apologise, but it would have rang much stronger in the show itself.)

Those are all very fair things to be annoyed about, I can understand that!

im so out of the loop regarding the new gravity falls website but do we think that the count down could be pointing towards a previous episodes release date?

because the full counter wasn't actually viewable unless i copied/pasted the line and I got the result -9:-22:-60:-23 (ofc the counter is still continuing) but uh -9. if we go back from this year (2024), we get 2015.

gravity falls episodes that we're released in 2015 (source:IMDB) are season 2 episodes 10 - 19, which include multiple (eg. Not What He Seems, A Tale of Two Stans, Dipper and Mabel vs. the Future, Weirdmageddon, Escape from Reality)bill/ford centric plots, so idk if those episodes could be linked to the date/time is counting down(? up?) to.

🧬 went to biochem - last class before the exam!!

🧬 finished drawing out the mechanisms for my study sheet (very late in the game, i know. don't come for me)

🧬 practiced the tca cycle - memorized all the product names and enzymes! now i need to add in the cofactors 🤯 lowkey forgot about those for a minute but it's okay

🧬 went to biochem office hours. not super helpful because everyone & their mother was there cause it was the last one before the exam

🍁 relocated to the first floor of the pretty new chem lab building
