Is this a cartoon character? Nope. It's an Irrawaddy dolphin, found in the Bay of Bengal and Southeast Asia.

To everyone annoyed the video isn’t serious.
If they didn’t know how wonderfully weird and goofy they were, they’re only surface skimming fans.

Since it's been on my mind, I would like to share some of my own, personal sentiments regarding the peculiar and fascinating phenomenon that is the drastic back and forth change of tone in Moby-Dick.
The first time I read it, I was quite taken aback by this, shall we say, unusual structure and it was certainly one of the bigger reasons why it took me months to finish the book. One had to recuperate from having one's heart ripped out before being able to handle mirth hysterics or epic cringe fits, y'know. I believe this is an experience shared by many a Dickhead.
By now I have read the book 11 times (no, I don't have any friends), and come to terms with it by simply regarding each chapter - save for those making up the final stretch - as an entirely separate entity and celebrate it for what happen to be. Tragedy, time to weep like a baby. Comedy, serotonin guaranteed. Cetology... hardcore fan moment? This way I get the most out of it and it feels as if I make my own experience of the content justice.
Of the many themes that make up the extraordinary creation that is the story, the one to affect me the most is contrast (The Symphony, anyone?) and though uncomfortable and sometimes even irritating, the change of chapter tone further enhances the impact it has on me. It's a weird feeling for sure, but then again, what about Moby-Dick isn't weird?

BOTD: Crested Auklet

Crested Auklet (Aethia cristatella)
Crested Auklets have a range of remarkable traits used for mating. These include their crests, loud 'trumpet' calls, and a distinct scent like that of citrus fruit. Crested Auklets with larger crests are more likely to obtain mates.

Tw: animal death
I just found out that the two headed cow died. I'm about to cry. They were so beautiful and we we're all rooting for them. However with their death we are blessed with a two headed sheep. I hope this one makes it.
Sorry for the random rant I'm just a bit upset.

I really appreciate How Fish Is Made becoming popular because parasite conservation is so important. People are realizing that they are just silly little guys parasites are so important and I have been going on huge rants toward people who refuse to understand why they should be conserved if they're so awful, but they aren't all awful! they're a beautiful part of life! mosquitoes are annoying, and some may want to lead the species to extinction due to things like malaria when in reality malaria is not the mosquito's fault! it's the mosquito's parasite that belongs in the plasmodium group. Mosquitoes, a parasite, have parasites. If we destroy every bacteria, virus, and parasite how do we learn from it? we have vaccines to coexist with pathogens, like how the common cold is, it still exists and takes lives but we coexist with it. Something that a lot of people who also speak up on parasite conservation mention is the case of the California Condor bird, honestly it is a really good example. The California Condor, the last of it's genus, is a critically endangered bird species which became extinct in the wild around 1987 (fnaf sound) when the 27 remaining wild birds were captured to be put into a breeding program to conserve and save the species from extinction. During this process, the birds were de-loused and sprayed with massive amounts of antibacterial and such, starting from 1991, the bird species was released back into the wild, where as of this month and year the population ranges around 537 individuals. The California Condor Louse was a parasite that attached itself onto the species and was not harmful to the bird. during the breeding process the louse species unfortunately went extinct, and due to it's extinction it is possible that generalist parasites, which will cause greater harm to the bird have taken that empty seat. Parasites also have an amazing ability to allow scientists to uncover more information about a species' relatives than the host itself! this is because parasites usually evolve to focus on one specific food source, which can lead to parasites evolving to suit the relatives of their hosts if the species is dying or the parasite needs more food. If we are saying goodbye to a species we know barely anything about, how do we know what information is being lost? how will we know that impact?
