Cost-Benefit Analysis of Staff Augmentation vs. In-House Hiring
Staff Augmentation: Reduces costs related to benefits, taxes, and long-term commitments. Allows businesses to pay only for the skills and time they need. In-House Hiring: Involves higher costs due to salaries, benefits, training, and ongoing employee expenses.

The satirical news publication The Onion won the bidding for Alex Jones’ Infowars at a bankruptcy auction, backed by families of Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims whom Jones owes more than $1 billion in defamation judgments for calling the massacre a hoax. “The dissolution of Alex Jones’ assets and the death of Infowars is the justice we have long awaited and fought for,” Robbie Parker, whose daughter Emilie was killed in the 2012 shooting in Connecticut, said in a statement provided by his lawyers. The Onion acquired the conspiracy theory platform’s website; social media accounts; studio in Austin, Texas; trademarks; and video archive. The sale price was not immediately disclosed. The Onion said its “exclusive launch advertiser” will be the gun violence prevention organization Everytown for Gun Safety. “Everytown will continue to raise awareness on InfoWars’ channels about gun violence prevention and present actual solutions to our nation’s gun violence crisis, including bipartisan, common-sense measures and public safety initiatives backed by Everytown,” The Onion said in a statement Thursday. Jones confirmed The Onion’s acquisition of Infowars in a social media video Thursday and said he planned to file legal challenges to stop it.
There's more information in the article, but just posting this to say AHAHAHA GET FUCKED ALEX

🚨🚨🚨URGENT PLEASE READ AND REBLOG
dec 13, 2022
we literally have just a few days to act. the senate is debating about putting KOSA, the Kids Online Safety Act, into the omnibus spending bill. if it is added, it WILL pass. despite the title and content of the bill seeming to be about protecting kids, we know everytime someone claims they are "saving the children" they have more sinister goals
which is why Senator Blumenthal is working with one of the biggest transphobes in the senate, Marsha Blackburn, to force this bill through, and claiming they are listening to LGBT voices when they are blatantly ignoring us.
essentially this bill gives every state attorney generals the power to remove anything they deem 'harmful' to kids online. you can see how a state like Texas or Florida would run with that, yes? it also forces you to upload your government ID online to access the internet. the bill will create a 'commission' led by handpicked members of the govt to oversee what is and isn't allowed online. it will lead to mass censorship of anything related to race or LGBT content. in a post-Roe world too? say goodbye to any abortion/sex-related info.
they are doing a shit ton of PR for this, including claiming they are listening to LGBT voices. i mean just look.
two weeks ago, 90+ human rights, LGBT, and tech orgs signed onto an open letter telling Senators NOT to pass this bill. in response, over 230 orgs led by the American Psychological Association signed a letter urging senators to. it's really fucking bad. like i can't sleep because of this. i didn't expect this to happen. we really really need people to speak up.
if this bill goes through it will literally kill off the internet as we know it
sign the open letter and petitions against KOSA here
the best way to fight against this bill is to call these specific senators (if you have dem senators, call them too)
nancy pelosi (202) 225-4965 roger wicker (202) 224-6253 chuck schumer (202) 224-6542 maria cantwell (202) 224-3441
call script below:
For Wicker only:
I'm calling because I'm asking the Senator to vote no on KOSA S.3663 from being added to the omnibus and being put through the Senate. The re-released text of the bill is still not adequate enough, and it's being rushed. This bill does not belong in an omnibus anyway. As a Gen Z, I also want to protect kids. I've been there. But this language is not ready yet. It should not move forward at all.
Hello Senator __:
My name is _, and I strongly urge you to oppose the dangerously misguided KOSA bill from being added to the omnibus spending bill. Bills like this should not be included in spending bills. Over 90 human rights and LGBT organizations have spoken out against this bill.
KOSA gives state attorney generals full power to sue any website if they see it has anything that is “inappropriate for children”'. For the past year, Republicans claimed everything LGBT is “grooming” children and we ended up with a shooting in Colorado and bomb threats sent to hospitals, NO senator should support a bill with vague phrasing like this. Before that, they successful removed books on race due to "CRT". This gives them a pass to do this to the entire internet. KOSA will only lead to more harm towards minorities and LGBT youth across the nation by censoring everything online.
The Heritage Foundation said they will use KOSA to target LGBT kids, specifically trans kids. In a post-Roe world, they will even use KOSA to censor resources on abortion. Anything they dislike will be targeted.
A bill this huge and this impactful should not be added to any spending bill. Even if it was a small bill, it has nothing to do with the omnibus spending bill and shouldn't be added at ALL. It needs more time being discussed. There should be hearings on it as well
We all care about kids mental health. We all want to hold Big Tech accountable, but this is NOT it. This will give Big Tech more power while taking away resources from the most vulnerable children. It is not the solution.
Please, do NOT support this bill. Do the right thing, and VOTE NO on KOSA.

For the third year running, TTRPGs for Trans Rights is back—this time, benefitting LGBTQ+ folks in West Virginia and Appalachia. Often, queer and trans folks in these rural areas get forgotten or written off, trapped by gerrymandering and circumstance. But moving isn't an option for every person living in a state that is legislating against them, and so, we fundraise!
All proceeds from this bundle (after fees) will be donated to Project Rainbow - West Virginia's only LGBTQ+ shelter, and an advocacy center that helps queer and trans people throughout Appalachia.
Project Rainbow is a nonprofit organization based in Monongalia County, West Virginia. Since its inception, the project has been curated to serve unsheltered LGBTQ+ individuals to help them better navigate the housing system safely and compassionately. Project Rainbow has opened The Rainbow House in an effort to serve this community and meet this goal. Although the shelter is our community's most urgent and immediate need, Project Rainbow recognizes that there is far more work to be done. They serve as advocates for the individuals we serve, and the Appalachian LGBTQ+ community as a whole. They also work closely with partners in the housing system, health and mental health care systems to not only find solutions for their guests but to make these systems themselves more accessible for their target population.
Previous bundles have benefitted trans-centered organizations in Florida and Texas. For more information about the Trans Rights Bundle project, or to get in touch with the organizers, visit our website: https://transrightsbundle.space
To access contributions from our publishing partners off of itch.io, please take a moment to fill out this form: https://forms.gle/kufKnqBAaaJxcizp7
Paizo Inc. is offering PDF copies of Pathfinder Lost Omens: Knights of Lastwall to all backers of this charity bundle. Note: Paizo grants these PDFs through paizo.com, so you will need to provide an email account associated with a paizo.com account in order to receive this reward.
If you are a larger publisher who uses their own platform to distribute games, please email [email protected] [email protected] or DM me on twitter if you would like to participate in the bundle. We're happy to work with you to figure out a method for you to be a part of this

As we've entered into the 2024 election year, I Beg you all that feel disappointment and rage at the disgraceful excuses for politicians we have in the US rn to look into the campaign of the two women shown in this video.
Claudia de la Cruz and Karina Garcia are running for President and VP in 2024. Here's their campaign video, as I can only include 1 vid per post. And here is their website.
I implore everyone who has the ability to vote in the November US election to read up on them.
Claudia De la Cruz (Presidential Candidate) is a mother, popular educator, community organizer and theologian. Being at the nexus of many different projects, organizations and social movements, Claudia connects different groups of people to link and merge struggles together in the overarching fight for justice. Born in the South Bronx to immigrant parents from the Dominican Republic, she was nourished by the Black and Caribbean working class communities of the Bronx and Washington Heights in the 1980s and 90s. At an early age, she was already questioning the conditions of poverty, violence, and oppression in her neighborhood, and what she saw and experienced served as her first entry point to understanding working class consciousness. When she was 13, Claudia began her political organizing work at her home church—Iglesia Episcopal Santa Maria (later the Iglesia San Romero de Las Américas–UCC), grounding her work on principles of liberation theology. She actively participated in campaigns to free political prisoners; to get the U.S. Navy out of Vieques, Puerto Rico; to end the U.S. blockade against Cuba; for the freedom of Palestine; against police terror—to name a few. In high school, she became a peer educator, conducting workshops on reproductive health and safe sex at community hubs and progressive churches, particularly for youth in the Bronx. It was through this work and her experiences as a working class Black Caribbean young woman that she understood there was only one solution to our collective problems: to fight for a better future, a socialist future
-
Karina Garcia (VP Candidate) is a Chicana organizer and popular educator who has been fighting for a better world since she was 17 years old as a high school student in California. From El Barrio in New York City to the border areas of Texas, she has helped lead campaigns against landlord abuses, wage theft, and police brutality, as well as fights for reproductive justice, immigrants rights and student financial aid reform. She is a founder of the Justice Center en El Barrio in New York City and is a member of the Central Committee of the Party for Socialism and Liberation.
Karina’s father migrated to the U.S. from Mexico when he was just 16 years old, and the will of working-class immigrants like him to survive and thrive inspired her to take on life with determination. This served her well when Karina received a full scholarship to study at Columbia University. She moved across the country by herself, knowing that she had to seize upon every opportunity to give back—a single year of tuition was the equivalent of her family's entire household income. As soon as she arrived, she joined every conceivable progressive organization on campus. She led struggles to expand financial aid for low-income students, for immigrant and worker rights, and to speak out against the Iraq war. In 2006, her activism received national attention when she led a campaign to confront and shut down the anti-immigrant fascist militia, the Minuteman Project. When Karina took a semester off to do a speaking tour in California, she met with high school and college students to keep building the movement for immigrant rights. That same year, she joined the Party for Socialism and Liberation. Graduating with a degree in Economics, Karina went on to become a New York City high school math teacher. After school, she advised a student group that protested against budget cuts, the Iraq war, police brutality and anti-immigrant laws. In 2012, she moved into a national organizing position for the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice where she worked for nearly a decade training immigrant women and working-class Latina activists in New York, Texas, Virginia and Florida.
[Taken from the About The Candidates section on their website.]
Understand that despite the mainstream medias desperate attempts to make us believe that our choices are really just Biden and Trump that that is not true.
We have other options.
We have better options.

So, interesting thing I noticed recently. Since I got the estradiol pellets, I don't need to take oral estradiol or spironolactone, but I just checked my pharmacy's website and I have 7 months worth of refills for estradiol and Spiro and the expire in January of 2024.
So now I'm genuinely considering filling all of those and slowly stock pilling hormones for when (not if, when) Ken Paxton copies the Missouri AG and bans gender affirming care for adults in Texas.
I want to keep doing the pellets - assuming where ever I move to when I leave Texas (because I absolutely will) is able to continue giving them to me - so it could even be an emergency supply for trans fems out there that need it.
If not, that stockpile will help me keep getting hormones - even if it's in a less efficient way - into my body while I look for a long term solution. 7 months is both more and less than you'd think.

Ten Key Innovation Signals To Better Serve The Brain Health Needs Of An Aging Population
It's been a busy year, with hundreds of studies and media stories about this website brain health, neuroplasticity, lifestyle and emerging neurotechnologies. To summarize where we are, and to better prepare for the opportunities and challenges in the year ahead, let's step back for a minute. Let me highlight Ten Important Signals to help Reinvent Brain Health in the Digital Age we live in.
It's been a busy year, with hundreds of studies and media stories about brain health, neuroplasticity, lifestyle and emerging neurotechnologies.
To summarize where we are, and to better prepare for the opportunities and challenges in the year ahead, let's step back for a minute.
Let's take a look at the big picture presented in the article Both Important and Urgent: Getting ready to serve the Cognitive & Brain Health needs of an Aging Population, prepared by David Stoller at the new Canadian Centre for Aging and Brain Health Innovation (CC-ABHI):
"The urgency to develop innovative new technologies that will support brain health is closely linked to the fact that a growing proportion of the global population is living longer than at any other time in history. As this population ages, the need to maintain brain health and/or manage declining cognitive function will have far-reaching impact both socially and economically." -- David Stoller @ CC-ABHI.
Good news is, scientists, technologists and entrepreneurs are working hard on this in the US and abroad.
The list of insights and initiatives worldwide is too long to detail; let me just highlight Ten Important Signals to help Reinvent Brain Health in the Digital Age we live in:
"Our health starts and ends with brain health," as Dr. Sandra Bond Chapman, Founder and Chief Director of the Center for BrainHealth at The University of Texas at Dallas, reminds us.
"There is too little wisdom in brain health (as practiced today)," cautions Dr. Peter Whitehouse, Professor of Neurology at Case Western Reserve University.
The American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology (AACN) just announced a new Disruptive Technology Initiative focused on "assessment and/or intervention-prevention-improvement of cognitive functions, accessible to the entire population."
Both the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and the Canadian Centre for Aging and Brain Health Innovation (CC-ABHI) have substantial funding programs to help start-ups access seed capital to develop and commercialize evidence-based digital brain health platforms.
Venture investors see a burgeoning landscape and future of the mind training space.
Many pioneers are working on ways to harness neuroplasticity for good, via cognitive assessments and therapies (BrainHQ, Akili, Click Therapeutics, Cogniciti, SBT Group) mindfulness apps (Claritas Mindsciences), EEG (Emotiv) and virtual reality (MindMaze).
A growing number of pharma companies, from Merck to Janssen, are investing in digital therapeutics by developing tools, licensing them, even investing in start-ups in the space.
"Clinically-guided" video capture of behavior can aid in diagnosis…behavior imaging, augmented by deep learning, will lead to real precision medicine, thanks to firms like Behavior Imaging Solutions, MyndYou, Pear Therapeutics, and more.
Old and new players in education--Pearson, ETS, UC Berkeley, the Arrowsmith School-- are developing digital and in-person programs to promote lifelong brain development.
The Coaches and Psychologists of the Future-exemplified by the Institute of Coaching, The Synapse System, the new Watson Centre for Brain Health-are already augmenting their practices with latest brain & cognition findings and digital neurotechnologies.

Jeremy and Cults that Kill (1988 book)
Sources: the 1991 police report; jeremywadedelle.com
Here's a 1988 hardcover copy of Cults that Kill:
I tried to go further than Ash and find out what copy Jeremy could have really had, and I went as far as contacting the actual author of the book, who unfortunately said this:
"There are 2 editions of Cults That Kill, a hardcover edition and a paperback version. Both were published in 1988 by Warner Books according to the copyright page. However in 2014 I took back the rights and re-published it myself on Amazon."
He attached pictures of the hardcover version (the one pictured above) and the paperback version (the black and purple one you see in the screenshot from Ash's website). Both were published in 1988 so... yeah, that was a fail!
At least I was glad to find that the Cults that Kill mention was factual (coming from the police report) and not another unsourced "fact" reported by The Jeremy Story. However, since I don't like to make posts about the Jeremy matter unless I really have something new to add, I'll give a little historical background as to why - I believe - Jeremy may have been interested in reading Cults that Kill and why the book was a success at the time. Because even though Ash, on his website, said that "[Jeremy] was also reading up on Satanism and Cults as many adolescents did in the past, and still do nowadays", I think there was something culturally bigger behind it.
The following research is the same one I made for a citation I put in PART 2 of No more "Later Days"... we ain't playing games around here!
Mass hysteria: the Satanic Panic
From Wikipedia (‘Satanic Panic’): “The Satanic panic is a moral panic consisting of over 12,000 unsubstantiated cases of Satanic ritual abuse (SRA, sometimes known as ritual abuse, ritualistic abuse, organized abuse, or sadistic ritual abuse) starting in the United States in the 1980s, spreading throughout many parts of the world by the late 1990s, and persisting today. The panic originated in 1980 with the publication of Michelle Remembers, a book [...] which used the discredited practice of recovered-memory therapy to make sweeping lurid claims about satanic ritual abuse [...]. The allegations, which afterwards arose throughout much of the United States, involved reports of physical and sexual abuse of people in the context of occult or Satanic rituals. In its most extreme form, allegations involve a conspiracy of a global Satanic cult that includes the wealthy and elite in which children are abducted or bred for human sacrifices, pornography, and prostitution. [...] The panic affected lawyers, therapists, and social workers who handled allegations of child sexual abuse. [...] By the late 1980s, therapists or patients who believed someone had suffered from SRA could suggest solutions that included Christian psychotherapy, exorcism, and support groups whose members self-identified as "anti-Satanic warriors". [...] In the 1990s, psychologist D. Corydon Hammond publicized a detailed theory of ritual abuse drawn from hypnotherapy sessions with his patients, alleging they were victims of a worldwide conspiracy of organized, secretive clandestine cells who used torture, mind control and ritual abuse to create alternate personalities that could be "activated" with code words. [...] Media coverage of SRA began to turn negative by 1987, and the "panic" ended between 1992 and 1995.”; From ksat.com (‘Explaining satanic panic: South Texas Crime Stories’): “Joseph Laycock, an associate professor of religious studies at Texas State University, spoke with reporter Erica Hernandez about the term satanic panic. “In the sixties, you began to have this concern about cults, that sort of cults had infiltrated America and were brainwashing people,” Laycock said. “[...] Then these groups trying to claim that Satanists are sort of seducing our children and taking over America. [...] So it began as kind of a conspiracy theory in the 1970s. And by the 1980s, this had reached the point where people were actually being accused of crimes and actually being, in some cases, convicted for it. [...] So what would happen is somebody would say, I know about Satanism, and usually this would just be some weirdo who had no actual credentials [...] and for $1,000 I will run a seminar to train police, [...] And they would always give out sort of these are satanic symbols to be on the lookout for. And it would always be, you know, like the ACDC logo or sort of different like heavy metal bands that people were interested in the eighties or even things like yin yangs or, you know, crescent moons and things like that. But the attitude of the police was kind of, well, this must be a serious problem, because why else am I spending my weekends, you know, listening to all of this? So that also was a factor that kind of amped up that satanic panic.”.
Jeremy himself ended up in trouble when Cults that Kill was found during a locker search. Also, Faye Barnett, his English teacher, remembered (pages 9, 25-26 of the police report) one day she had found an unsigned note which appeared to be "satanic in nature", and which she thought Jeremy may had written, though there was no proof for it:
It is unclear whether the note mentioned in these two parts was the same one, but it doesn't change the fact that even these statements from the police report confirm that the Satanic Panic was very present when Jeremy was alive; and that this may have been the reason why not only Jeremy was interested in reading about it, but that it was also what got his - I believe innocent - interest mistaken for something to be worried about; as even ssheps, in the section 'The Interview - Interview with RHS Employee Regarding Jeremy' of his website, mentioned:
Maybe you already knew about this, maybe you didn't... learning about history never hurts!
