Comprehensive Guide to Website Development Cost in Nepal
Tumblr media
When you're planning a website, the first question is usually, "How much will it cost?" This is a great starting point.
Knowing the cost helps you decide the size and features of your website. It also ensures you spend wisely and avoid unnecessary expenses. Understanding the budget gives you a clear idea of your project's scope and expectations.
Have you asked anyone about website development costs? Most of the time, the answer is, "It depends." They aren't wrong.
Different Websites and Their Design and Development Costs in Nepal
The cost of website development varies. Many factors can change the price. Let’s look at the basic pricing models and factors affecting website design costs in Nepal.
Average Development Prices of Different Websites:
Static Website Upto 8 Pages — $2000,
Dynamic Educational Website — $8000,
Dynamic Hotel/Restaurants/Resorts Website — $8000,
NGO/INGO/Government Website — $2000,
Business/Organization Websites — $8000,
Dynamic E-commerce Website — $15000.
What Consumes Most of the Budget?
Domain Registration
Web Hosting
Website Design
Website Development
Content Creation
Additional Plugins
Maintenance and Support
Factors Deciding the Website Design and Development Cost
Complexity of Design
The complexity of the design is a big factor. A simple static website costs less. A complex website with many features costs more.
Content Management System (CMS)
The CMS you choose affects the cost. Some CMS require licensing fees and higher customization costs. Others are more cost-effective but may have fewer features.
SEO Optimization
A good design isn't enough. Your website must also be SEO-friendly to reach your audience. SEO services add to the cost.
Number of Webpages and Content Volume
More pages and content mean higher costs. Each page adds to the overall price.
Mobile Optimization and Responsive Design
Your website should work well on all devices. Responsive design ensures this but also increases the cost.
Payment Gateways and E-commerce Functionality
If you need e-commerce features, like shopping carts and secure payment gateways, the cost goes up.
Choice of Development Language
The coding language affects your website's performance and cost. Different languages have different impacts on the development process.
Additional Plugins
Plugins add extra features but also increase costs. Examples include Elementor Pro, Gravity Forms, and WP Rocket.
Developer and Organization
The cost also depends on the developer or agency you choose. Different agencies have different pricing models and levels of expertise.
Takeaway
The cost of website design and development isn't fixed. Prices vary between developers. Choose your development agency wisely. Don't just focus on the budget. Look at the quality of their work. A top-notch website at a higher price can be a smart choice.

The Painted Woolly Bat (Kerivoula picta): this bat species has a stunning orange-and-black appearance
Tumblr media
Kerivoula picta is commonly known as the painted woolly bat, thanks to its strikingly colorful appearance and thick, curly fur. Researchers believe that its orange coloration might actually serve as camouflage, to some extent, as it has been reported that the bats can easily blend in with dried leaves and flowers when they are roosting.
Tumblr media
For several months each year, these bats form small family units that generally contain two adults and one pup. They often reconnect with the same reproductive partner over multiple breeding seasons.
Tumblr media
This species is increasingly threatened by the international demand for so-called "bat décor:"
... painted woolly bats (Kerivoula picta) are collected and killed in their native habitat in South and Southeast Asia and sold as décor globally. The United States is a major and growing market for this trade: The U.S. has imported hundreds of painted woolly bats over recent years. As this species is not bred in captivity, all the bats are taken from the wild.
Painted woolly bat populations are declining. The International Union for Conservation of Nature assessed the species as “near threatened,” yet few nations within the species’ range offer the bats effective protection from killing. The bats live in China, India, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Viet Nam.
Given that they only produce one offspring at a time, painted woolly bats are particularly vulnerable to trade. Scientists have been raising concerns about the potential harms of the bat décor trade for nearly a decade, yet the market has only grown. Online listings offering painted woolly bats for sale are plentiful on major ecommerce websites.
This article provides more information about the threats that this species is currently facing and the ongoing efforts to protect it.

What If Choices' Race-customizable LIs Had Surnames Reflective Of Their Ethnicity?: An Experiment Just For Fun (Part 2/3)
Info in Part 1
Part 3
HOT COUTURE
Tumblr media
Marco Diallo
This face option is described in the asset files as "Black". I did a cursory research and learned that there is a significant Black Italian community of immigrants from Cameroon, so that's my headcanon for him and his family. I chose the Fulani surname Diallo because it starts with a Di like Di Vincenzo.
Tumblr media
Marco Diệp
This face option is described in the asset files as "Asian". The most significant Asian Italian community is Chinese Italians, but I didn't find a Chinese surname starting with the sound Di that sounded right to me. So I went with the Vietnamese Diệp.
HOT SHOT
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Casey Jamil
These face options are described in the asset files as "Middle Eastern". The Arabic surname Jamil was a spelling match for Jameson, and this spelling appears to be common in Syria and Iraq. So if they had this surname they could be Syrian or Iraqi.
IMMORTAL DESIRES
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cassius Han / Cassandra Han
These face options are described in the asset files as "Asian". The Japanese surname Harada is a spelling match for Harlow but I already used Harada for the LI of Guarded. Also, I keep seeing people comparing the masc face to this one Kpop singer, I forget who, so it gave me the headcanon that these faces are Korean. The Korean surname Han seemed like a pretty solid match for Harlow, and it's also a Chinese surname too so they could be Chinese with this surname. Also I know fem Cas's full name is canonically Cassie but like many others on this internet website I am a Cassandra Harlow truther because I think it sounds better.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gabriel Almánzar / Gabriela Almánzar
These face options are described in the asset files as "Latinx". Couldn't find any Spanish or Portuguese language surnames that start with "Ad" so I went with a Spanish surname that starts with "A" and retains the "A-al-ar" sounds from Adalhard.
LAWS OF ATTRACTION
Tumblr media
Gabe Ryu
This face option is described in the asset files as "Asian". Almost went with the Korean surname Rhee but I already chose it for TPS LI and also I think the Korean surname Ryu looks cooler on a law firm plaque. lol
MS. MATCH
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jack Mansour / Jacqueline Mansour
These face options are described in the asset files as "Arabic". Mansour was a close Arabic-language sound match to Monroe. This spelling seems to be common across all of North Africa and the Middle East. So I guess they could be from any of those places with that surname.
MY TWO FIRST LOVES
Tumblr media
Noah Higuchi
This face option is descrbed in the asset files as "Asian". Another LI with a surname starting with "Har" which can correspond with the Japanese surname Harada but I already used that and also "Noah Harada" has too many open "A" sounds in a row for my liking. So I just chose a cool sounding Japanese name starting with the letter H because this face option looks Japanese to me.
Tumblr media
Ava Lozano
This face option is described in the asset files as "Hispanic". Lozano was the closest Spanish-language surname I could find to Lawrence. The Spanish form of the first name Lawrence is Lorenzo, but it doesn't appear to be used as a surname like Lawrence is in English-speaking countries.
Tumblr media
Mason Jiménez
This face option is described in the asset files as "Hispanic". Couldn't find Spanish-language surnames that start with the same sound as Jennings. If my memory is correct I don't think Spanish has that sound? Jiménez has a lot of the same letters though so? That should work?
THE NANNY AFFAIR
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sam Delgado / Samantha Delgado
These face options are described in the asset files as "Hispanic". I considered the Spanish surname de la Torre because it retained the D-L-T-O sounds from Dalton but I thought Delgado sounded cooler……?
THE PHANTOM AGENT
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Karan Gill / Sameera Gill
These face options are described in the files as "Indian". I considered the surnames Giri (broadly Indian, common in Nepal I think?) and Ghauri (common in Pakistan as far as I can tell?) for sound matches for Gray but Gill (Punjabi) sounded cooler. Also there was nothing necessarily wrong with the names Callum and Samara other than I don't like them. So I assigned them new Indian names…….

10 years of a PhD
August 2023 marks ten years since I was awarded a PhD in Linguistics. I submitted the thesis for examination in February 2013, it was examined by around May, and the final version with corrections done by some time in the middle of the year. August is when I dressed up and the degree was conferred, so that's the date on the testamur that now hangs in my office. The weirdest thing about this decade is that it means I've spent longer having a PhD than doing something that was such an important time in my life. My work has continued to grow from, but still draw on, my thesis research. I have been working with speakers of Syuba as well as Lamjung Yolmo, to continue to document this language family. I've moved from a focus on evidentiality to look at reported speech, discourse and gesture. These all still require an approach that looks at both grammatical structures and how people use them, directly continuing the kind of approach I took in my PhD. I'm particularly proud of the gesture work, as this is a return to an older interest. I didn't publish my PhD as a single monograph, but turned it into a number of revised and refined papers. I publishing the descriptive grammar as a book, which was an expanded version of a slightly absurd 30k word appendix to the thesis. Below is a list of those publications, as you can see it took me quite a few years to find homes for all of this work. I've also been lucky to take my research in other directions too; my gesture work has expanded into emoji and emblems, and I've also been writing about the data management and lingcomm work I've been doing. This work has increasingly been happening with collaborators, I love how much better work becomes when people talk each other into do their best thinking. I know I'm very fortunate to still be researching and teaching a decade after graduating, and that I have an ongoing job that lets me plan for the next decade. The thesis work informed a lot of my research, but these are the publications taken directly from the thesis:
Gawne, L. 2016. A sketch grammar of Lamjung Yolmo. Asia-Pacific Linguistics. [PDF] [blog summary]
Evidentiality in Lamjung Yolmo. 2014. Journal of the South East Asian Linguistics Society, 7: 76-96. [Open Access PDF]

ATLA Gender Bender: "Aangi"
Aang -> Aangi
I have wondered where the name "Aang" originates from. It might actually be derived from the real name "Aangi". In any case, "Aangi" seems like the obvious choice for female Aang's name.
"Aangi" would have probably grown up at the Eastern Air Temple. She may have been frozen in ice while attempting to flee southward from the Eastern Air Temple.
I've been picturing Kiernan Shipka as the voice of "Aangi". Granted, I think Book 1 "Aangi" would sound more like Ikki, but by Book 3 she would sound like 12 year old Jinora.
OUTFITS:
1: Book 1 & 2 outfit
This outfit is designed to match the appearance of young Air nuns, shown in "The Rift".
For her hairstyle, I referred to several images, especially  Erik Törner's "Tibetan girl in Shegar, Tibet" (see: www.flickr.com/photos/eriktorn…). I intended for Aangi's appearance to be symmetrical, and for her hair to be relatively short in Book 1, so that her hair could grow longer during the timeskip between Books 2 and 3. Unlike Ikki and Jinora, I wanted her hair to be tied in pigtails instead of buns. This allows her hair to be more expressive, and to flow freely in the wind. Her pigtails are meant to somewhat resemble the wings of a bird in flight.  I also decided to have her pigtails tied underneath her ears. This is because Aang sometimes wears hats and other garments to hide his arrow. By tying her pigtails under her ears, this allows her hairstyle to be visible even when she has to hide her tattoo under a hat.
2: Book 1 & 2 undergarments
In real life, Buddhist nuns wear the same triple robe as the monks but with two additional layers, making it a "five-fold" robe (see: hayleyssilkroad.wordpress.com/…) These two additional layers are the sankakshika (undergarment, see: ia800908.us.archive.org/35/ite…) and udakasatika (bath robe, see: www.buddhanet.net/e-learning/h…).
The sankakshika "Aangi" wears in Books 1 and 2 is based on the sankakshika shown here: https://discourse.suttacentral.net/t/what-are-the-original-clothes-of-buddhist-nuns-sankacchika-video/23728/9. It extends from the chest to the navel, and is fastened by three brown, circular buttons found underneath the left armpit. Note that this is an undergarment, not a bath robe. She would not wear this while bathing or swimming, but would be seen wearing this during the Guru episode.
This undergarment would be destroyed by "Azulon"'s lightning in the Book 2 finale, forcing "Aangi" to replace it with an undergarment crafted from red Fire Nation cloth.
3: Aangi's Fire Nation disguise
4: Aangi's Fire Nation disguise, without headband
The three stray hairs on her forehead are a feature she shares with "Princess Zuka".
5: Book 3 outfit, with outer robes
Aang's Book 3 appearance is based on the Shaolin monks. As such, his female counterpart's appearance is based on the "Kung Fu Nuns of Nepal". In addition to their website and Facebook page, I referred to this image specifically: https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna49859526
"Aangi"'s robes feature the color red for two reasons. First, as an homage to the maroon robes worn by the "Kung Fu Nuns". It also makes sense as an in-universe explanation, as "Aangi" would have fashioned her new clothes during her stay in the Fire Nation, where most cloth is red.
By the end of Season 3, I think her hair would be much longer, and she would resemble a younger Yangchen.
6: Book 3 outfit, without outer robes
During the progress of the final fight with Ozai, "Aangi"s robes would burn away bit by bit, much like Aang's clothes. This costume would be visible in the middle of her fight with Firelord Ozai.
7: Book 3 outfit, Avatar State as seen in the finale
This undergarment replaces "Aangi"'s sankakshika. It provides similar coverage to Toph's bathing suit, and is somewhat similar to Katara's sarashi. This is how "Aangi" would appear by the end of her fight with Firelord Ozai.
8: Comics Aangi
This is a very similar costume to her Book 3 outfit.
