there is.. something so so heartbreaking about looking at those websites dedicated to korean adoptions, either the birth family or the child, trying to relocate their families online. there’s decades old webposts of people desperately trying to reach out on the internet, asking if they know can find their mom who had the name so-and-so, or a mother asking if there is a child named so-and-so out there. they’re doing the best they can to find who they’re looking for with little information like just name and date of birth. they post grainy old photos in hopes it’ll jog someone’s memory or mean something to someone. it makes me want to cry.

Terrible idea, or the best idea? Back and Forward in WebPostive made Ctrl + Left and Ctrl + Right. This is so that in Windows/Linux mode it will go back and forward with Alt instead of Ctrl as you'd expect it to while reserving Cmd+left and right (or Ctrl in Windows mode) to go left and right inside BTextView's instead.

you know how sometimes movies will ADR in a clumsy line to clarify something, and it's a little jarring? like, if you're watching a spy movie and it'll cut to the back of somebody's head looking over the scenery, saying something like 'john fled to costa rica'. what if we did away with that. it can feel cheap and poorly written. what if we just wrote the entire movie like you're strapped to a couch, and we're trying to make you understand a movie you just saw, which is the one that's playing right now in front of you

i feel like every time i post about a movie here it's about some classic piece of cinema that has stood the test of time some eighty odd years because it's absolutely incredible. double indemnity, the set-up, laura, murder my sweet, so on. i need to watch something that's hot, rancid garbage to increase my appreciation for my good fortune, being able to watch and read all these incredible portrayals of the human experience. i'm going to watch madame web

the passive voice of “mr spider wants another guest for dinner. it is polite to knock” not sounding like a command but also removing any element of choice and agency. annabelle entertaining the idea of the web actually being entirely passive and only fueled by people’s fear of being controlled. the spider telling francis that it has no choice in what it’s doing and playing back for them a time when they said they wanted to use. raymond fielding creating a friendly, laid back, hands off persona while literally mind controlling the children in his care. the web does one (1) thing better than manipulating people and that’s not looking like it’s manipulating people.
