first flight [azriel x reader]
[not my gif]
pairing: (acotar) azriel x reader
description: azriel is the one who carries you when you and part of the inner circle need to fly somewhere, as you are the only on without wings, but things can never go as planned with you and your friends
inspired by test drive from httyd
word count: 2287
warnings: near death experiences, vulgar gestures obvi
“You ready to go?” Rhys asked you, a knowing grin at the fear in your eyes, threatening to seep into every pore of your body. Feyre had told you that flying was a fantastic experience and how she relishes that she’s able to grow her own wings to enjoy the skies whenever she wants, and you understood what she meant, if only slightly. After going into the cauldron, you found that you had shapeshifting abilities, and after hearing that Feyre had started growing her own wings and training to be able to fly, you began to do the same in private. None of the Inner Circle knew of your abilities, and you wanted to keep it that way. In some ways, you felt as though it made everyone feel better. In their minds, if being made only meant that you were Fae now, and no other alterations happened to you, the experience in the Cauldron must not have been as traumatizing for you.
However, you had powers, though you had not explored them enough to uncover the extent to them. Prytherian was about to be in the middle of a war, and the last thing you wanted was to distract your friends and sisters as they did what they could to prepare for the fights to come.
The wings you had grown had not been like the Ilryian friends you have come to love since being made. Instead, they were feathered and reminded you of the birds that sang to you every morning back home. Maybe that's where the inspiration drew from when you first accidentally sprouted the wings, but you knew that there was a race of Fae with bird-like wings, so it wasn’t bizarre that it was possible. After first growing the wings, you spent any free time you had escaping to an isolated part of Velaris and testing the wings. However, you had not gotten more than 10 feet off the ground. So your fear was rampant at the idea of soaring through the air in Azriel’s arms. Though you had gotten especially close with the shadowsinger, and you trusted him with your life you couldn’t help the anxiety that crawled through your veins.
“As I’ll ever be,” Your voice came out weak and caused the group of your friends in front of you to laugh. Feyre, Azriel, Rhysand, and Cassian stood all in front of you, their wings out. Because you were the only one of the party who couldn’t fly - at least to their knowledge - you were to be carried to the destination.
Everyone except for Azriel took flight. He stepped towards you, and you tensed in case he decided to just grab you and take off. Instead, he put a hand on your shoulder, causing your shoulders to release a bit of tension. He looked into your eyes and with intense sincerity, spoke.
“I will not drop you.”
“But what if I still manage to fall?” You asked. Though you obviously knew what he was going to say in response.
“Then I’ll catch you. You have my word,” He placed his hand that wasn’t on your shoulder on his chest, right over his heart.
Your legs felt like jelly, and you couldn’t muster up the courage to say anything else, but you just nodded. You put both of your arms around his neck and he put his arms under your back and legs, picking you up effortlessly. In any other - preferably not life-threatening - scenario you would have blushed and marveled at the opportunity to be in his arms, but you felt incredibly pale, like the blood in your body had disappeared completely.
Azriel double-checked that you were holding on tight before taking off as slowly as possible, which was still incredibly faster than any of your test takeoffs with your wings. You yelped and buried your face in his neck, tightening your death grip on his neck. Now you understand why Nesta puked her guts out when Rhys flew with her. This was terrifying. Azriel was torn between letting out a chuckle or fighting the blush that was creeping up onto his face.
Even after Azriel leveled out, probably catching up with the rest of the group, you still couldn’t peel your face from the crook of his neck.
“Having fun there, [Y/n]!?” Cassian teased, yelling over the wind that was now berating you, causing your hair to be tossed in a thousand different directions.
“Aw, don’t tease her, she’s a first-time flier,” Rhys joined the torment, his tone one that you use to speak to children or small animals.
If you had had the guts to part one of your hands from where it clung to Azriel, you would’ve sent them a vulgar gesture. Instead, you tried to maintain healthy breathing and focused on Azriel’s warm body caressing yours. Maybe you could pretend that you were somewhere else. Somewhere alone, somewhere where it was just the two of you sharing an intimate moment. However, as soon as you thought about that, Feyre started talking to you. So much for alone and intimate.
“[Y/n]! You’ve got to look at this. You’ll never be able to forget this view.”
You honestly wish you could. But your courage was nowhere to be found. You were sure you left it back at the spot you were standing at in Velaris just a few moments ago.
But then Azriel’s thumb on your back moved a bit, soothing you and calming you down almost instantly. If only he knew the power he had over you.
“Open your eyes, [Y/n]. Look,” Az said in a tone he saved for you. The way he almost purred your name made you want to do absolutely dirty things to the Ilryian. But for now, you settled for moving your head away from his neck just an inch and peering out at the view. You would have immediately shut your eyes and slammed your face back into his neck, had the view not been the most breathtaking thing you had ever seen in your life. There, below you was Velaris, the lights twinkling up at you as if to wave goodbye. And around you, the snowcapped mountains glistened in the sunset that now smiled over the Night Court. You must’ve accidentally dropped your jaw in awe because the teasing began anew within your friends.
“Aww, she looks adorable. Look at her face!” Cassian played, banking closer to you and into your line of sight.
You snapped your jaw shut and glared at the man flying next to you.
Rhys opened his mouth to add to the jokes, but Azriel silenced him with one look. Az wanted this to be a good, memorable time for you. And his friends were doing more to scare you off of flying again than helping to comfort you.
You began to admire the sights below you again, anxiety almost completely melting away from you.
“It’s beautiful,” You whispered, so close to Azriel’s ear that he would have shuddered if he knew that it wouldn’t scare you.
He let his gaze flicker to you for a moment. The only thing he was admiring throughout this flight was you. Cassian was right when he said you looked adorable. The fear in your eyes was replaced by a spark he knew far too well when it came to the feeling of flight. “Yeah… beautiful,” He responded in the same tone you had used.
Your eyes moved to meet his. Your body suddenly found all of your blood and decided to have it rush straight up to your face. Your blush was apparently obvious because Az let a faint smirk ghost his face.
The moment, however, did not last long. Rhys yelled at Feyre to fly off or winnow somewhere, and Cassian let out a warning cry to Azriel to get you out of here.
Your eyes darted over to what was causing the commotion. A small group of faeries similar in description to what Feyre told you of the Attor flew towards you and your friends. You let out a gasp and your grip tightened on Az’s once more. His flight changed directions, obviously trying to get you away from the fight instead of engaging in it. But one of the faeries charged towards him, and the moment he took to turn around left the faerie a moment to catch up to him, reaching out a clawed hand and raking it along his back.
“Az!” You cried out in concern. The shadowsinger just gritted his teeth and muttered that he was okay. You didn’t believe that for a second, but you had no way of helping him. In fact, you were probably a burden to him in this fight. The creature rounded around again prepared to strike. Az couldn’t move either of his hands to defend himself, especially with how the two of you were positioned in the sky. He would drop you if he moved either of his hands. Az moved to hopefully soften whatever blow was about to come upon him. The creature, however, changed course last minute, and instead of clawing either of you, it just slammed head-first into the two of you. The action made you both loosen your grip on each other. Everything after that seemed to happen in slow motion. His hands slipped from under you, and your hands had let go of his neck after the blow. You looked up at him as he inched farther and farther away. You were falling, you realized.
He yelled your name with a tone so desperate and laced with fear you hadn’t known him capable of. He moved to fly down and catch up to you, but the creature occupied his attention. He couldn’t come to save you.
You realized this fast enough that you were able to turn over and see where you were falling. Hard rock lay under you, and it was approaching much too fast for your liking.
So this is how you die.
You almost closed your eyes in acceptance. But a part of you knew that this was not the end. There were things you still needed to do. People to fight for. People to love. Azriel’s face flashed in your head at the thought. You narrowed your eyes in determination and flexed every muscle in your body, summoning the one thing that can save you.
Two feathered wings emerged from your back. They were tucked close to your body. You quickly folded them outwards, the wind immediately catching on them and moving your fall from a quick descent to a rocky glide. You had been so close to the ground that you had to quickly bank left and right to avoid hitting trees and large boulders, eventually setting your path upwards. As you soared up into the open sky, you finally understood what Feyre meant. You have never felt so free in your life. The air felt like a loving caress even as it whipped around you, the last sliver of sun shone on your face as you broke through the trees and into the sky. The ground grew more and more distant as you made your way back into the sky. You were so free. You had saved yourself from death, and nothing felt impossible anymore.
You saw Azriel still engaged in a fight with the creature, and you quickened the flaps of your wings, hurling yourself at the creature. You unsheathed a small dagger that Feyre had given you after returning to the Night Court from spying on the Spring Court. Once you made contact with the creature, you sliced its back in one motion. It moved to retaliate and you sunk your dagger into its wing and dragged it downward, effectively ridding it of its ability to maintain altitude. It quickly started sinking toward to ground.
Azriel stared in disbelief at you. His gaze flickered in between you and your wings.
He pulled you in for a hug mid-flight, his strong arms squeezing you half to death, and then parted from you.
You were about to explain the wings and the flying, but he cut you off by meeting your lips with his and a desperate kiss. You reciprocated it. It was dizzying and passionate and the culmination of months of unsaid feelings, but it was worth it. Your level altitude suddenly shook a bit as the adrenaline had worn off and the kiss had made you disoriented. He quickly caught you before you could sink anymore.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t keep my promise,” He whispered in your ear, taking off to where you knew the others were waiting on the ground.
“It’s okay. I needed the push,” You responded, exhaustion taking over. You had been working on the muscles needed for flight, but it was finally catching up to you how much you actually used them for your miracle moment,
“I did too,” He responded, and you knew what he was talking about.
You’d worry about explaining your powers to everyone later. Right now, it was just you and him. You and…
You and him both abruptly met eyes, feeling the same thing at the same time. The pull. You both smiled the widest smiles you had in your life, before kissing once more. This one was full of a different kind of emotion. It was slower and showed how much longing you had had than the other. This was because you both knew you’d had an eternity to shower each other with more kisses and make up for lost time and words left unsaid.
You flew off towards the first touch of twilight on the horizon with Azriel.
With your mate.

sparks fly [yj! robin x reader]
[not my gif]
pairing: [yj!robin x reader] (romantic), [yj team x reader] (platonic)
description: You and Robin have known each other since you both became sidekicks at roughly the same time. And when you joined the team, you realized that you felt different with him than you did with anyone else. Maybe this mission will finally help you both confess your feelings
word count: 3799
warnings: robin, sb, and aqualad being overprotective, reader getting hurt, prolly like 2 cursewords
a/n: This is during the 5 year gap between season 1 and 2 so reader and dick (still robin) are both 16. Flora is your hero name
“Recently we’ve been getting reports of people going into the Forest of Eld and not coming out. A recent flyover by Captain Marvel confirms that there seems to be scorch marks in the trees, and some parts of the forest burnt away and reduced to ash.”
“I guess they named the forest correctly*,” You whispered to Superboy next to you and he smirked a little.
“Your mission is, as always, recon. Go in, don’t get noticed, gather intel, get out. We don’t need 4 members of the team turned into char,” Batman explained the mission assignment you’d been called in for.
Next to you, listening as well, were Superboy, Aqualad, and Robin. Miss Martian had taken a small squad in her bioship on another small assignment, meaning the four of you would have to take the Super Cycle.
“Flora, Aqualad, you two especially need to be careful,” Batman turned to you both as he wrapped up. You both nodded and started to walk over to the S-Cycle as she folded out into the bike form.
“You sure you’re both up for a mission that’s potentially throwing you into your weaknesses?” Robin asked, climbing into the seat right next to you.
“Of course. We can handle ourselves. It’s not like we can avoid any mission that could potentially expose us to our weaknesses. Risk like that comes with the job,” Kaldur explained.
You nodded, agreeing. “Plus, I’ll just throw Superboy in front of the fire if it comes to it,” You joked, causing him to grunt. You knew he thought it was funny too. Ever since you helped Kid Flash, Robin, and Aqualad rescue him at Kadmus, he became like a brother to you. Of course, the entire team was very close and most of them were very protective of you, but Superboy was definitely the closest to real family to you. When Robin added to the joke, causing you all to laugh, you looked over at him.
Now, with him, it was different. You didn’t feel as though he was your family. You felt strong emotions for him, and have since you met as sidekicks. You only recently figured those emotions out to be love. But you were stuck as friends. He had only just recently (2 months ago) broken up with Zatanna. And you didn’t want to compromise your position as his best friend (sorry Wally) and obviously didn’t want to make working with him on the team awkward, because you were sure he didn’t feel the same way.
You all started to get your game faces on when you arrived at the forest. It was a good thing you all started to focus, because as soon as Superboy started bringing the S-Cycle down to land, a giant ball of fire came from the forest and hit the Cycle dead on, causing her to start falling. You took a hold of Robin and jumped out of the Cycle. Causing your descent to the ground to slow, as you controlled the air currents around you both to carry some of the weight. As you all reached the ground, Superboy and Kaldur being able to get themselves down, you all immediately went on guard.
“Well, that was a nice warm welcome,” You joked.
“Stay on guard,” Kaldur ordered as you all started moving into the thick of the trees. Eventually getting to a point where the thicket was so dense it was dark enough to barely be able to see two feet ahead of you.
“Superboy, can you see anything with infrared?” Kaldur whispered.
“No,” Connor replied after he scanned the area. You, however, were not convinced. You closed your eyes and felt the earth around you with your powers and were able to see a group of people surrounding you, raising their hands in what you assumed would be an attack. You immediately reached out to hold as much of the surrounding air as possible and cause a large dome of rushing winds to surround you and your friends. Just in time too, as all of the people started cascading the dome with fire. It was like they all had flamethrowers. You stomped on the ground and caused vines to come up and catch every assailant you could feel just as your dome started to dissipate. The flames had all but stopped, but you didn’t have time to react when another person dropped from the trees and punched his fist out at you, a puff of flames coming directly at you and making contact with your upper arm. You let out a scream of pain and your teammates were immediately by your side, turning towards the attackers to protect you.
“Wait!” The attacker who burnt you, took a step closer, holding his flame out to provide light. Kaldur held his water sword towards him, telling him to not step any closer. “Robin, Superboy, Aqualad, and Flora! You guys are heroes!” He said, his voice filled with shock.
“We do our best,” Superboy replied, still on guard.
“I am beyond sorry for attacking you, and for burning you,” He directed the last part of the statement to you, bowing slightly out of respect. You, who was still holding your scolding arm in pain, looked up to him in confusion, not completely believing his apology. Robin was the closest to you, holding an eskrima stick in one hand, and keeping his other one on your shoulder as a reminder that he was right there. While the man - well, he seemed to be no older than 18, so he wasn’t necessarily a full-grown man - ordered his fighters to stand down, you all were still holding fighting stances, not letting your guards down. “There's no need to be on guard, we are on your side,” The teen boy in front of you said.
“You have to realize how hard that is to believe. People have been disappearing in this forest, and there are scorch marks and ash everywhere.” You defended your team's actions.
“And you did just burn our teammate,” Robin added, keeping his arm pressed against yours. It was comforting to feel his touch, even in such a high-stress situation.
“We can explain everything, but first we need to treat your friend’s burn,” The leader said.
You all looked at each other. Being able to communicate without speaking would’ve been easier if Miss Martian was here, but none of you needed her telepathy to be able to come to a conclusion.
“I can handle my burn myself, thank you. We would like the explanation,” You stated, crouching down to grow the plant you needed to treat your burn. Again, he bowed slightly to show he respected your wishes and began to explain the culture and nature of the people in his village.
“1000 years ago, the sun-blessed the leader of my village with a gift. The gift was to produce and control fire,” The man showed a small spark from the palm of his hand to emphasize the point. “The gift ended up being hereditary and now there is scarcely a person in the village who isn’t able to control fire.” While the man was explaining, Robin helped cover your wound and tie a leaf wrap around your upper arm. You whispered a small thanks and focused on the story he was telling.“The thing is, 30 years ago, our village was attacked and destroyed. Many of the villagers managed to escape. My father, who was 14 at the time, promised to rebuild the village and bring back any villagers who remained alive so that our village would thrive again. He has only just now finished the village completely, and the last few villagers are finally returning. The reason there have been reports of people disappearing is because the few people that have waited this long to return created lives for themselves outside the forest in order to survive before they could return, but they always meant to come back. I promise, no one is here that hasn’t decided of their free will.”
You all looked at each other as the man finished his story. You four excused yourself to be able to discuss what you heard.
“He was being sincere,” You told them, as you were able to feel his heartbeat stay steady and his breathing was normal while he spoke. “Or he’s just a really good liar.”
“Okay, so, we got our intel, should we go back?” Superboy asked.
“How? S-Cycle is still folded up to heal from the attack. We’re kind of stuck for a while. Besides, shouldn’t we, you know, check out the village to double-check their story?” You responded. Kaldur nodded, agreeing with you.
“Okay, but you stay in between us while we walk there,” Robin said after hesitating to respond, obviously still worried about you. You gave him a look. “I know, you can handle yourself, and you did save us from being barbecued, but you still got hurt and I’m not about to let that happen again.” He replied, giving you an equally serious look. You sighed after seeing the Aqualad and Superboy felt the same and nodded. The group of fire wielders were very enthusiastic when you asked to see the village, and led you all through the forest. When you broke through the leaves to a bright clearing, it took a moment for your eyes to adjust to the light. But when they did, you couldn’t help letting your jaw slacken a little as you gaped at the sight before you. There weren’t any houses on the ground, there were stairs, ramps, and ladders up to the top part of the canopy where huge treehouses were built. Lanterns, string lights, and torches lit the way and made the village look almost magical.
“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” The man from before that was leading the group said to the team, but his gaze was focused on you. You nodded, not taking your eyes off of the treehouses and surrounding scenery. The rest of them were less focused on the scenery and were still on their guard, so they all caught the guys piercing gaze towards you, and none of them liked it. Especially not Robin, who moved closer to you, if that was even possible as he had been sticking to you like glue the whole time. “I’m Ray,” The man finally introduced himself, sticking his hand out towards you. You finally looked down and met his eye, glancing at his hand. You would feel bad if you didn’t shake his hand, but you still felt reluctant about trusting him. So when you didn’t shake his hand, his expression fell a bit, but it caused Robin to smirk next to you. Ray cleared his throat to clear the awkward air, “Well, would you like a tour of the village?” He asked, but yet again it seemed like he was only asking you.
“Yes, we would appreciate that. Thank you,” You gave him a polite smile and motioned for him to lead the way. You caught how his expression fell slightly yet again. You were starting to feel very suspicious of the situation you and your teammates were in, but you needed to tread lightly to be able to figure it out without endangering them. As the tour concluded, you felt like you just hiked a mountain. The number of stairs you had to walk up and down was impressive. You were in shape enough to still be okay, but you definitely needed a bit of a break.
“Flora, can I talk to you in private,” Ray asked, holding his hand out to you.
“You can’t say it in front of my teammates?” You asked, quirking your eyebrow in suspicion.
“It would be better to speak away from them,” He replied.
“Fine, but somewhere they can still see us,” You answered, taking his hand and letting him lead you a bit away from the group. As you started walking, you looked at Superboy and gave him a slight movement that he knew meant to listen.
“I think you would do well here.” Ray started.
“What do you mean?”
“I think you’re one of the most talented, beautiful women I’ve ever seen. I want you to stay here with me,” He said as he took both of your hands in his own.
“I’m not one of you. I don’t have fire powers. I do not belong here,” You replied, removing your hands from his grip, which was a bit hard because of how strong his grip was on you.
“I’m disappointed to hear you say that. But I will still try to convince you that you belong here until your team decides to leave,” He said, a look of determination evident on his face, mixed with something a bit more malicious. You did not like the vibes on this guy at all. However, if you were going to find more out about the village, you needed him to trust you.
“Hmm, I’ll think about it. Maybe you can tell me more about your village’s history, so I can become more familiar with everything,” You prompted.
“I would love to! But unfortunately, it will have to wait until I have a meeting with our village leaders,” He explained, excusing himself with a bow. “I look forward to seeing you again.”
You gave him a polite smile as you walked back to your team, and before you could divulge your plan to them, Superboy cut you off.
“You’ll ‘think about it’?” He asked, not amused at all. “Is this not the same man who just burnt you?”
“What are you talking about?” You asked.
“SB told us about the convo you just had. You’re not seriously thinking about staying here, are you?” Robin asked.
“You cannot choose these people you just met over your friends,” Aqualad added.
“I ‘cannot’?” You were going to explain yourself until you heard that. “And who, exactly, said you could control what I do or do not? You may be the team leader but that does not mean you can tell me what decisions to make with my life,” You tried controlling your voice, but it started to get a bit aggressive. You understood that they were only trying to look out for you, but you were fed up with them treating you like you were breakable, someone they had to constantly baby, and you were certainly fed up with them trying to make decisions for you.
“Flora, calm down,” Aqualad tried to get you to contain your voice, but also your powers as the wind started to pick up. You sighed and looked away from them, taking a deep breath to control yourself.
“Flor-” Robin started to speak but you cut him off.
“I need some time by myself, to think.” You put emphasis on the last word, hoping it would get them to reflect on their choice of words while you calmed down away from them. You settled on a high platform in the middle of the village, your feet swinging off the side. You looked over the village and observed what they were doing, the buildings people were going in, and the places they avoided. You were trying to do what you originally came here to do, but you heard footsteps behind you. You had memorized the breathing pattern of the person so you didn’t even need to look over as they sat down next to you to know it was the same Boy Wonder you fell in love with years ago. You sighed, and played around with your hands, fidgeting as you started apologizing.
“Listen, I know you guys just want to protect me and get the mission done, so I’m sorry I added more drama in the mix. I was just trying to find out more about the village,” You explained looking over at him, your cheeks flushing a little as you saw how close your faces were, and how his eyes gently looked into yours.
“I’m the one who should apologize. You’re a powerful, talented member of the team, and you’re capable of taking care of yourself. But I just… I can’t stand seeing you in pain so when I know I can try to prevent it, I do,” He looked down, avoiding your gaze. You reached out and cupped his cheek with your hand and gently brought his gaze back to you.
“Getting hurt comes with the job, but knowing you’re there for me makes all the difference,” You explain. “Thank you.”
You smile softly, looking at his mask-covered eyes wondering if they were filled with the same look of love and admiration that yours were. You felt the distance between your faces close and your lips press against each other delicately. You felt sparks fly in your mind and butterflies in your stomach. The wind around you started whipping around you both in a circle, and unbeknownst to you, flowers sprouted in your hair. When you separated, you kept your eyes closed for a second, lightly smiling until you heard robin chuckle, feeling the air of his laugh on your cheek because of how close you two still were. You opened your eyes and looked at him with a questioning look and he reached into your hair and picked out one of the flowers, showing it to you. Your eyes opened wide in surprise.
“That’s new,” You said, your voice nearly above a whisper.
“For me too,” He joked, saying he’s never had a reaction to his kisses like that before. You laughed with him before pressing your lips against his again. However, this kiss was shorter as you heard someone clear their throat near the tree. You and Robin separated quickly and looked over, now on guard as you both stood up. When you saw Ray, leaning against the tree, you sensed something completely different about him. Robin caught onto it too and moved in front of you a bit. You couldn’t help but smirk ever so slightly at his over-protective nature kicking in again, but you found it so endearing about him. Focusing on Ray as he started speaking, his voice void of that obviously fake friendly manner.
“It’s a shame, I did try to warn you, Flora. I mean, I obviously wasn’t explicit, but you’re a smart girl, I know you caught onto my little act. If only you were a bit smarter and promised to stay here with us, and be on my side. I could’ve saved you from all of the hurt you’re about to feel.” He taunted, obviously not scared at all as he was nonchalantly looking down at his nails, and still hadn’t separated from the tree.
“So was anything you said to me true? Because I’d hate to have to figure out the truth of your village on top of kicking your ass,” You mixed the threat in, trying to get to the bottom of what was happening.
“It's true that the legend of our village says we got our power from the sun, and it’s true that our village was attacked 30 years ago, but it wasn’t by any opposing village. It was by our own. Traitors, who opposed my grandfather’s rule. He was a great leader, making plans to expand our village and spread our gift to the rest of the world. But there were some, short-minded families who believed that it was wrong, and we needed to stay within our forest. A civil war broke out, killing my grandfather. Once he was dead, the village was abandoned. Both sides retreated. When my father returned a year later, he promised to take vengeance on any of the families that killed his grandfather. Those are the people who have been “disappearing”. They don’t deserve your pity, they're traitors.” He told the story, finally stepping towards you two, causing you to shift into a more secure fighting position.
“It’s not your place to decide who lives or dies, and it’s definitely not a welcome idea to try to force your way of life onto other people,” You explain, though you knew he was way past reason.
“It’s disappointing to hear you say that,” He said, looking away from you for a second, before quickly turning back and fire two streams of fire directly at you two. It was your turn to move in front of Robin and quickly blast the attack away from the two of you. You quickly took his moment of blindness to your advantage and moved up to him, scratching your skin and releasing a toxic mix of plants, inducing sleep. He tried to fight it, grabbing your arm, which you quickly grabbed his and sent him flying into the tree bark. He groaned and fell on the floor, knocked out.
“All bark and no bite…” You quipped, looking at Robin with a goofy expression before pointing at the bark and then the man passed out on the ground. He rolled his eyes before grinning as well, pulling you in close with one arm.
“And I didn’t even have to do anything,” He said.
“Of course not, I couldn’t let you get into harm's way. I can’t stand seeing you in pain so when I knew I could try to prevent it, I did,” You quoted him from earlier and he smirked down at you.
Once you got the violent villagers in custody, you finally went back to the cave.
“So I heard you guys had an eventful mission,” M’gann said, flying over to you all as you arrived through zeta tube. She ran and hugged Superboy.
“Yeah, something like that,” You looked at Robin and smiled and he smiled back at you.
“Hah! You owe me $30!” Artemis yelled at Wally.
“What? You don’t even know if they’re official or not, are you guys… dating?” He looked at you two. You both just smiled at him.
“Aw, man! How’d you even notice?” He threw his hands up in the air as he forked over the cash to his girlfriend.
“Just look at them, they’ve got lovey-dovey-new-couple written all over them,” Artemis explained.
“Yeah, but they’ve always been like that,” Superboy pointed out.
“Hey! You know what that means! We can go on triple dates!” M’gann said excitedly to you six. “....Sorry Kaldur. You can come too?”
“I will pass, but thank you for offering” He responded lightheartedly. You all laughed and you leaned over to give your new boyfriend a peck on the check.

part two of not a villain
It's been a few weeks since you and Loki had that talk in your room, and your friendship has done nothing but improve. On the flip side, your relationship with the avengers has done nothing but deteriorate. You’ve finally had enough of them treating you like a kid, and if they weren’t going to value your input as they would an adult’s then you would stop giving them input altogether. Your conversations with any of them have been very limited and you spent most of your time with Loki, which killed two birds with one stone because you knew the Avengers wouldn’t try to talk to you when you were hanging out with him. Thor has started spending more time on earth as he’s almost finished making the arrangements needed to stay on earth for extended periods of time to be there for his brother. The times he’s here, the three of you all hang out and you felt as though the brothers’ relationship was improving as well. Thor has confided in you that their relationship has been rocky throughout the years and that he truly feels as though you're making a difference in Loki’s life.
“Thank you for being a great friend, Lady [Y/n]. A good friend to Loki, and a good friend to me,” He said one day as he was about to go back to Asgard. You felt tears well up in your eyes and you gave the tall man a tight hug before saying goodbye.
You had just been messing around in the kitchen with Loki, making one of your favorite dishes. He took the food to his room and was there waiting for you to join him as you finished cleaning up a bit. You saw Natasha, Bruce, Clint, Sam, and Tony walk into the kitchen and it looked like they were about to lecture you so you hurriedly tried to escape the kitchen.
“[Y/n],” Sam said, stopping you in your tracks. You sighed and turned to them, sitting down on a chair that sat next to the kitchen island. You motioned for them to get on with it.
“We’re worried about you. You’ve barely said 4 words to us this week. I understand that you think Loki is being a good friend, but look at what he’s doing to you. You’re not speaking to us at all. He’s not a good influence on you,” Sam continued.
You scoffed, “Oh please, don’t blame Loki for what you guys did to yourself.”
“How did we do this? This all started because you defended Loki,” Tony defended and you narrowed your eyes and fluffed out your wings in defense.
“Of course, you’d try to swing this around on me. You guys don’t think I'm mature enough to do anything! To do anything by myself! You don’t even trust me to make the decision on who to trust!” You started to raise your voice and gave a harsh flap of your wings to punctuate your argument. You watched them blink as they felt the gust of air blow past them.
“[Y/n], calm down,” Natasha said, walking towards you.
“No! My opinion on Loki hasn't changed, he is my friend now, and if you don't want to hear what I have to say just because I'm young and naive, then deal with the silence. Because I’m done trying to prove to you all that I can make decisions for myself. At the end of the day, you guys don’t value my opinion. At least Thor and Loki trust me because that's all I need.” You finished your statement and didn’t give them any time to say anything else because you started to run to Loki’s room. You didn’t make it very far, because you ran into Loki in the hallway that connected the kitchen and his room.
“You heard that all, didn’t you?” You asked, your voice cracked as you looked at your feet, not being able to look at him without crying.
“I did.” That was all he said as he wrapped his arms around you. You started fully crying.
“How is it you always find a way to eavesdrop when I’m defending you,” You joked through your tears.
“I can’t miss people praising me, I am my favorite topic,” he joked back, rubbing your back to comfort you. “Now come on, we have food to eat and a movie to watch.”
As you two were watching the movie, Thor came to visit. He joined the two of you when he found out you were watching a good movie, and during it, you turned to him.
“Thor, when are you going back to Asgard?”
“Later today, I was just stopping by today. Why do you ask?” He asked in response, popping some popcorn into his mouth.
“How long are you going to be there?”
“2 days, why?” He asked again, not getting where this was going.
“Let me come with you please!”
He choked on the popcorn in his mouth as he sat up. Your eyes widened as you watched the god’s reaction.
“You want to come to Asgard?” He asked, almost in disbelief.
“Yeah of course, why wouldn’t I?” You asked him.
“Well… I don’t see why you can’t. But don’t you need to ask permission first?” He asked, moving the popcorn bowl off of his lap and sitting up to look at you fully now. It was now clear that he was actually taking your request seriously.
“Of course not, they trust me enough to let me go. I’ll let them know where I’m going and that I’ll be back in two days! Easy.” Of course, you weren’t going to, but Thor didn’t need to know that. You saw Loki raise his brow at you and you gave him a little nudge to let him know to not say anything.
“Well, perfect! It will be lovely to show you around Asgard. I’m sure you’ll love it. Loki, would you like to come too?” The brother offered.
“Aren’t I still on ‘house arrest’?” Loki questioned, marking the quotation marks with his fingers as he spoke.
“That doesn’t include Asgard,” Thor enlightened him. Loki’s face dropped and he deadpanned at Thor.
“So I could’ve gone back to Asgard with you this whole time?” He asked.
“Well… yes, technically…” Thor responded carefully, noticing Loki’s change in mood.
“You left me here with all of the people I fought with, and didn’t even let me know that I could take a break from them and go back home?” Loki asked again. From an outsider's view, it would look like he was getting angry, but you could tell he wasn’t actually that mad at his brother, just playing with him.
Thor smirked as Loki lunged at him and they started wrestling. You laughed as you watched Thor kick Loki off of him and then sit on top of him.
“Alright,” Loki wheezed out. “I yield,” slapping Thor’s leg as he tried to get him off so he would stop crushing his lungs.
As Thor got off, he turned to you, not even helping Loki up. Loki, being dramatic, gave Thor a sour look as he coughed and got up himself.
“You won’t need much, as we can prepare a room for you, but if you want to bring anything then go ahead and pack it now so we can get going,” Thor advised you and you smiled wide at him.
“Thank you!” You yelled, bringing Loki and Thor into a big hug. “This is going to be so much fun.”
After packing a small bag of things you thought you might need for two days, you met Loki and Thor outside. There was a spot designated for Thor to use the Bifrost to summon him back to Asgard so he didn’t ruin all of the grass around the compound. “Are you ready?” Thor asked, holding Mjolnir out, ready to call the Bifrost. You nodded, and he raised the hammer to the sky. Your vision was suddenly filled with all different colors and you felt your body raise off the ground, without the help of your wings. You looked around with awe at the things speeding past you, the stars and nebulas and planets you could see. It was like all of the Nasa telescope pictures you’d seen in your life but in person. It hit you that you were actually traveling through space right now.
You finally saw the end of the ‘tunnel’ and felt your feet touch a hard surface again.
You looked back at the Bifrost as it closed and the light dimmed out. Looking forward you saw some of the most beautiful and amazing sights you’d ever seen in your life. But before you could take it all in, you realized there was a person standing in the middle of the spherical room you were in. His eyes were yellow and he wore a horned helmet.
“[Y/n], this is Heimdall, he is the Guardian of the Bifrost bridge,” Thor introduced you to him. Heimdall’s yellow eyes moved to look at you. You smiled a little shyly and gave him a small wave. He gave no response to your greeting as he looked over to Loki, who was doing his best to ignore the gatekeeper and move on into Asgard.
“Just what Asgard needs. Two troublemakers,” Heimdall told Thor sarcastically.
You looked at him with surprise on your face.
“Troublemaker? I understand why you would say that about Loki, but [Y/n] is-” Thor began to defend you but was cut off by Heimdall.
“Someone who lied to you in order to be brought here,” Heimdall stated. You opened your mouth in shock.
“How did you…” You began to ask him how he knew.
“I am The Watcher of Worlds. I see all,” He replied.
“What does he mean [Y/n]? About you lying?” Thor asked.
“I didn’t actually ask permission from the Avengers to come here. I lied and told you they were fine about it but they’re probably freaking out right now. But it’s fine. A little teenage rebellion is a rite of passage on Earth,” You explained.
Loki was smiling at you, a proud look on his face. Thor was pouting.
I can’t believe you lied to me,” Now it was Thor’s turn to be dramatic. You rolled your eyes and laughed as you all three started walking over the bridge. You marveled at everything.
“It’s a bit overwhelming how beautiful everything is,” You stated. You three were almost in the heart of Asgard when you stopped in your tracks as people started filling your vision.
“What’s wrong?” Thor asked.
“Have your people ever seen… someone like me?” You asked, fear started leaking in your heart. You already made children scream in fear on Earth. You couldn’t take that from another planet.
“What? A Midgardian? Yes, they’ve seen a few-”
“No, Thor, I have wings. I’m not just a normal Midgardian. I’m kind of a freak on Earth. Are the Asgardians going to think the same way?” You asked.
Thor took your hand in his. You looked down at it and then looked up to meet his eyes. He then realized how afraid you were as he could feel you trembling.
“You’re not a freak. Not here, or on Midgard,” He told you. You gave him a small smile. It wasn’t enough to make you change the way you thought about yourself or repair the damages that the experiments Hydra did on you, but it was enough to get you to start moving again. You reached over and took Loki’s hand, not wanting him to be left out. You also didn’t know how the people of Asgard viewed Loki. They obviously knew that he tried to take over Earth. But he wasn’t in jail so… that was probably a good sign.
As people started seeing you three, there was a mix of reactions. Happiness when they saw Thor, surprise when they saw Loki, and curiosity when they saw you.
A few kids approached you which caused you to stop and look at them, releasing Thor and Loki’s hands.
“Are you an angel?” One of them asked. You couldn’t help but smile.
“No I’m not an angel,” You told them, kneeling down to be beside them.
A little boy outstretched his arm and held it up to your wing, “Can I touch it?” He asked. You spread your wing so the kids could all touch it. They all got so excited about it and started squealing, running back to their parents in excitement.
You got back up and smiled, continuing on with Thor and Loki.
The majority of your time on Asgard was spent sightseeing. You flew around and had the brothers take you to their favorite childhood places. They told you many stories of their youth and you got to know them more and more with each passing moment. The second night was approaching fast and you felt bittersweet that the time on Asgard was coming to an end. However, to commemorate this moment, a ball was being placed. Thor was honoring his brother being back in Asgard and to new beginnings in Loki’s future. And he was also honoring Asgard’s special guest; you.
The palace handmaidens helped you get ready and you were given a dress for the occasion. It was a gorgeous [f/c] dress that complimented your body perfectly. The back was low cut, giving your wings an ample amount of space and allowing them to be the star of the look. On your head was a gold chain wrapped around your horns and it sat gently on your forehead. Stars and moon charms filled the chain and gave it more of an elegant look.
Loki and Thor were talking near the throne when you made your entrance. You didn’t know how but you ended up being fashionably late, allowing you to make a grand entrance in front of everyone. On Earth, being the center of attention like this would make you anxious. But here, everyone seemed to look at you like you were something straight out of a painting.
You were approached by a handsome gentleman sometime later in the night, after catching up with Thor and Loki and thanking them for the dress and inviting you to the event. The boy looked to be around your age, but you knew he was probably 100s of years old.
“You really do look like an angel.” He started the conversation off strong with a compliment. You blushed and thanked him.
“I saw you when you arrived in Asgard, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you since. Would you do me the honor of joining me in this dance?” He asked, offering his hand.
“I would love to, but I don’t think I’d be the best dance partner. I don’t really know how to,” You replied, hoping you didn’t look as flustered as you were.
“Don’t worry, just follow my lead,” He said, reaching over with his other hand to place your hands where they needed to be on his body. One on his shoulder and the other interlaced with his. When he put his hand on your waist, you could’ve sworn you stopped breathing. He started guiding you through the dance, the music filling your ears and the boy filling all of your other senses. He smelled like a meadow filled with flowers and he looked just as beautiful. His eyes were so bright and genuine you felt yourself get lost in them. He pulled you in closer and you felt your stomach do somersaults. His hands were so soft and warm as he moved them softly from your waist to your back, right below where your wings came out of your back. You shivered at the first feeling of the skin to skin contact but relaxed into his touch. Your eyes moved from his eyes to his lips where they stayed for a second before moving your line of sight back to meet his eyes. You wet your lips out of nervousness, but this caused him to look at your lips. You felt the space between the two of you start to get smaller as you both inched toward each other slowly. Your lips were about to touch when you felt his presence disappear entirely. His hands no longer on you and his body no longer next to you. You looked around to see Thor and Loki standing there protectively, and deduced that they pushed him away from you.
The boy stuttered out an apology, before bolting away from them, not even looking at you again. You felt yourself boil with rage.
“What was that?!” You shouted, causing a few of the nearby guests to look over at the commotion.
The two brothers noticed this and moved to have you all talk somewhere more private but you didn’t let them get the chance, you spread your wings and flew out of the big hall you were in. Through hallways you’d never been down before until you got to a big library with a large glass ceiling with constellations on it.
You sat in the middle of the library, looking up at the sky through the glass.
Moments passed before you heard movement from one of the bookshelves near you.
The shadow stepped more into the light and you saw it was the same boy from earlier. When he turned and saw you, he looked frightened and was about to take off when you asked him not to.
“Please! Stay…” You realized how silly it was to sound so desperate over someone you had just met but you didn’t want him to be afraid of you. Too many people were.
He stopped in his tracks and thought about it before moving back to sit next to you.
“I apologize about earlier. Apparently, they’re protective friends,” You chuckled.
“I get it. We were kind of moving fast. But I kind of got caught up in the moment. You're so beautiful it’s almost dangerous.” He laughed as well before looking at you.
“It’s a good thing they stopped us though. I am leaving tomorrow, it would be unfair of me to start something we can’t finish,” You explained before meeting his gaze.
He looked down at your lips again before going to speak. “Who says we can’t?”
You both sat there for what seemed like a while, the tension almost tangible, before you mentally said screw it and closed the gap between you two, pressing your lips together. He seemed surprised but didn’t hold onto that for long as he moved to reciprocate the kiss. He filled the kiss with so much fire and passion it was crazy to think you had just met him that night. He brought his hand up to cradle your face in his hold and you felt like your skin was being set ablaze like a thousand lightning bolts were being sent into your body from where his skin met yours and bolted around your body before settling in your stomach. But just as quickly as the kiss started, it was over. You felt him pull away and you slowly opened your eyes to look at him. He smiled softly and slowly released your cheek from his hold.
“That was…” you whispered with the remaining breath in your lungs. No matter how hard you tried, it seemed like the oxygen was stolen from you. But it was in the best possible way.
“Amazing,” He finished for you.
You both spent a while longer together before you started to get up. His expression seemed to fall as he knew what that meant.
“We both knew this was just a temporary visit. I hope to come back soon, but my home is on Midgard.” You told him. “I know. I hope to see you soon, angel.” He brushed a hair out of your face as he finished his sentence.
You leaned in and gave him a light peck on the cheek before parting ways.
When you reunited with Loki and Thor, who had been apparently searching for you for ‘hours’ as they put it, you were surprised to hear because it hadn't felt that long since you left the ballroom.
“I apologize for getting so upset with you guys, I understand why you didn’t want me dancing with some random stranger, but… I just…” You explained before trailing off. You didn’t want to let them know how guys on Earth never looked at you like he had, how guys on Earth are afraid of you, but he seemed to look at you like you were the most beautiful, harmless thing on any planet.
“You shouldn’t be the one apologizing, we trust you and we know you can be responsible enough to make your own decisions, even if that is who to dance with,” Thor responded.
“Just don’t run off without telling us where you’re going next time,” Loki continued, bumping your arm with his hand. You giggled.
“Wait… next time? You’re gonna bring me back?” You asked.
“Of course, unless you don’t want to,” Thor answered.
“I’d love to! As long as Sam doesn't try to imprison me in the compound for my entire life for pulling this stunt,” You joked and they both laughed.
.
.
“You’re grounded. You’re so grounded! No leaving the compound for a month!” Sam yelled at you when you had gotten back to the compound.
You giggled and Sam froze, looking at you and softening.
“I haven’t seen you laugh in so long,” He confessed.
“You would have seen me laughing if you saw me around Loki,” Your face falling as you brought Loki up again, knowing that the topic probably wasn’t going to go well.
“...Maybe… I guess… I could give him a chance.” Sam started, his tone making it obvious he was hesitant to do what his words were saying.
Your eyes lit up, “Really?!”
“I trust you - slightly less now that you ran away to another planet without telling anyone - but I do truly trust you. I think you're old enough to know who to trust and to make sense of someone's character. If you truly think Loki is a good person, I’ll make more of an attempt to make him feel more welcome and I’ll help you convince the rest of the team. You’re important to us and I think I’d rather have an ex-murderer be acquaintances with me than lose you.”
You smiled and ran up to hug him, your wings curling in towards him as well.
“Thank you, Sam, you’re a great friend and I’ve missed you. You’re just stubborn sometimes.”
“More like overprotective,” He replied, hugging you back.
“Yeah, seems like a lot of you are.”

Shortly after arriving in Rivendell, Legolas goes off to a meeting with Lord Elrond and others. You had not been given an invitation so you relaxed in a room while you waited for his meeting to be done. You had no ill will that you had not been invited to attend the meeting. It seemed rather boring to begin with and you enjoyed the opportunity to lie down.
After a while, your elf ears heard his footsteps approaching the room you lay in. You rose to your feet as he entered. He seemed to be moving quite quickly.
“What’s got you all in a rush?” you asked him from where you stood.
“I’m leaving to take the ring to Mordor with a group of volunteers. We are now the fellowship of the ring and I must make sure the hobbit that bears it gets it safely to destroy it,” He explained, not evening looking at you as he spoke. You narrowed your eyes and moved to start getting ready to leave as well. He stopped you and furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. “What are you doing?”
“Coming with you, obviously,” You responded as if it was funny for him to ask. You moved to continue but he stopped you again. Your face fell as you met his gaze again.
“You cannot come along, [Y/n]. Please do not argue with me on this one. It will be a long and dangerous journey,” He explained, his hands on either of your arms.
“Not that that’s stopped me before” You wished you could say. But you bit your tongue and nodded. He sighed a bit in relief and continued to get ready, bidding you a short goodbye as he left. You crossed your arms and huffed in frustration, before finishing gathering your things and setting out to catch up with him. There was no way he was leaving you behind. You jogged a bit to catch up with the group that had already set on their way.
“Hey! I’m coming with you!” You yelled as you approached them. They all stopped and turned to face you as you joined them. Their faces all of surprise, except Legolas.
“I thought I told you not to argue with me on this one? I don’t want you coming along,” Legolas muttered to you as he got to your side.
“And I didn’t argue. But that’s not going to stop me from coming,” You replied. You stopped and turned to face him. “Legolas, I’ve been at your side for 100s of years. That’s not going to stop anytime soon. You’re stuck with me.”
You smirked as you finished your statement and went to greet the two other familiar faces in the group.
“Hello, Gandalf,” You greeted him respectfully. He smiled and greeted you as well.
“It has been far too long, [Y/n],” He responded. You smiled and turned to Aragorn.
“Good to see you, [Y/n]. You are looking as beautiful as ever,” Aragorn spoke in your elvish tongue. Legolas rolled his eyes. Half of the reason he didn’t want you to accompany him was because he knew Aragorn would be coming and for some reason you and him would always playfully flirt with each other. You told Legolas there was no deeper meaning to the words you told each other, but it still riled him up. Legolas had harbored feelings for you for a long time and had never found the courage or the right time to act on them, but seeing someone else flirt with you felt wrong.
You smiled and lightly shoved Aragorn’s shoulder before turning to the rest of the fellowship and introduced yourself. After this, you set yourself on the way.
--
It had been a long journey so far, and half of your group was tired and dying to make camp and rest. You helped everyone set up the camp as you didn’t need to set much up for yourself and then sat with everyone around the campfire. They were all joking and telling stories about their pasts and it was almost enough to make everyone forget about the dangerous journey ahead and the large burden placed in everyone's hands, especially Frodo’s.
“You know, I used to be one heck of a lady killer back with the dwarves!” Gimli boasted, looking towards you and winking. You laughed with everyone else and Gimli asked what was so funny. You rolled your eyes.
“I really do not believe any of you would be able to woe a woman,” You stated, knowing that they, being men with their fragile egos, would get offended. You hear their statements of complaints and groans and you sit back where you are next to Legolas as if to tell them to prove it.
“You look great right now. Do you know what else would look great on you? Me!” Gimli said in his best seductive tone and then cackled after he was finished. You groaned and rolled your eyes again as you stood up.
“No woman wants to hear that,” You told him, crossing your arms. You turned your gaze to Boromir as he stood up. He came up to you and grasped one of your hands.
“When I look into yours eyes… I see… beauty. And I think to myself… Wow” He struggled to find the right words. “How… beautiful.”
You bent over laughing after he was finished and he returned to his seat with a wounded ego. As you straighten your back when you're finished laughing, you see Aragorn coming towards you. He steals your breath quickly by wrapping his hand around you and placing it on the small of your back, tugging you in close to his body. You felt your hand go up to rest on his chest instinctively and you felt the muscles rippling as he moved.
“When I look at you, I can’t help stopping, I am blinded by your beauty. You look like an angel, your face, your eyes, your lips, and your smile is so perfect. Your beauty crowns it all,” He said to you seductively in elvish. You both parted ways and you look quite flustered so Aragorn smirks and announced that he must’ve won. While all of the other guys started going on about how it wasn’t fair because they couldn’t understand what he was saying, you were regaining your senses. Sure, you two playfully flirted, but he had never been so forward and serious about it. You made eye contact with him and you both laughed.
Legolas, on the other hand, was not amused about what Aragorn did or what he said. A sudden realization came upon him that he couldn’t watch you flirt with Aragorn any longer so he stood up and grabbed your hand, dragging you into the forest away from the camp and the eyes of the fellowship. Without saying anything, he gently but quickly pushed you up against a tree and kissed you. It all happened so fast that by the time you processed it, he was pulling away. He started to apologize for it but you quickly shut him up and pulled him back in for another kiss.
This one was longer, more passionate. Filled with hundreds of years of pining and emotion. When you both finally pulled away again, you were out of breath, which was something you weren’t accustomed to as an elf.
“I’ve been wanting to do that for a long time,” He mumbled, resting his forehead against yours lovingly. You’re stunned.
“I’ve… I’ve loved your since we were kids,” You replied. He tilts his head back to meet your eyes as if searching for a lie within your words. When he saw sincerity in your eyes he laughs.
“We must be the two most oblivious elves to have lived,” He joked, pulling you in for a hug.
“We might be,” You say, softly combing your hands through his beautiful hair. “But what made you finally act on these emotions?”
“I must confess that I’ve never liked seeing you flirt with Aragorn, or how you both act around each other.” “So you were jealous?” You ask, chuckling a bit. He doesn’t verbally reply but does clench his fists a bit, holding tighter onto the fabric of your clothes. “Well you don’t have to be. Not anymore, at least. Because I only have eyes for you. And I won’t have to flirt with Aragorn to get your attention anymore.”
He smiles and you both walk back to the campsite. By the time we both sit down, the whole group has noticed a change with us. Aragorn is the first to notice exactly what the change is and says “It’s about time” Which makes everyone laugh. You both realize everyone had noticed your feelings for each other. Legolas gently grasped the side of your face to turn you towards him.
“I win,” He quietly whispers before kissing you again.

You felt yourself slowly waking up, but your head was pounding and you didn’t know where you were. The familiar voices of your clone troopers made themselves known to you, and the electronic noises you heard let you know that you were in the medbay. You slowly opened your eyes and turned your head to the right, flinching at the bright lights.
You saw Kix, Rex, and Fives standing in a circle, talking amongst themselves. They were talking quietly, and with the pounding in your head, you couldn’t be bothered to try to focus in and hear what they were saying.
You moved yourself to get up, only to gasp as pain tore through your torso. You moved your hand to where the pain was coming from to try to alleviate it in a way. The gasp made the clones aware of the fact that you were awake and they immediately turned over to you. Kix came over to you to exam you.
“What happened?” You asked, not remembering how you got here.
“You decided to be reckless and take on a whole army of droids by yourself instead of waiting for backup,” Kix scowled, retelling the report Rex had given him when he dropped you off, your torso soaked with blood from the blaster wounds. Your gashed head from fall after you had been stricken down. You breathed out a laugh in response.
“That sounds about right,” you responded, going to stand up after Kix finished looking over you again and changing your bandages.
“It’s not a laughing matter, [Y/n]. You’re being too reckless. One of these times… I might not be able to just patch you up. And I don’t know what I'll do if that ever happens. Please don’t make that happen,” The clone voiced his concerns, hoping that for once they didn’t fall on deaf ears.
You seemed to take his words in seriously. You nodded.
“Fine. I won’t go back on the battlefield until you deem me ready. Okay?” You asked. He seemed to not be convinced but nodded anyway.
You started moving and winced at one of your wounds stinging from the movement.
“Yanno, [Y/n], I don’t think it’s a good idea for you to be up and about just yet,” Fives started, moving to help you back to the bunk. You gently motioned his hands away.
“I’ll be fine. Besides, I have some things I need to do,” You respond. They all give you a look. “How am I gonna hurt myself more by filling out paperwork and dealing with reports and complaints?”
They shrugged, not knowing how to tell you to take it easy because they knew you wouldn’t listen. You wobbled your way to your room, trying not to show them that you were actually in a lot of pain.
You had to report to the council about the battle, file a report about your injury, deal with monthly inspections, handle clone complaints, and deal with other paperwork that you’d been pushing off. If you had known becoming a Jedi would be this much behind the desk work, you would’ve never completed your training. Actually, you probably still would’ve, but it did suck.
You sighed as you started to work on the first pile of work you had on your desk. These menial tasks never seemed worth it in the end, but you knew you had a responsibility to the republic. And seeing your men work so hard constantly to fulfill your duty made you feel as though you needed to do more too. If you failed to finish your tasks on time, you had a feeling that the clones would be forced to pick up your slack and the last thing you wanted was to add even more unnecessary duties to their task list. In fact, you wanted to make sure they didn’t have to do anything that wasn’t 100% necessary. It was already enough that they didn’t have a say in fighting in this war, you wanted to make sure that the time they spent off the battlefield was fun, full of laughter, not more work. You already knew that many of the clones felt as though they were worthless and expendable, but you wanted to let them know that they were worth more to you than that.
After making through the stacks of paperwork on your desk, you stood up, groaning at the back pain of being slouched for so many hours. You went to crack your back to relieve the pain, but that only caused pain in your front as you stretched the wounds you had in your torso. You sighed and went to get a light snack before you could move onto your next assignment. Walking through the halls to the mess hall, you smiled and nodded to the troopers that passed by. Some of the newer ones or the ones that you were less familiar with saluted you and called you General. However, the ones you were closer to and had been around longer knew that you preferred being more informal with everyone off the battlefield. They smiled, waved, said hello/good morning. You were shocked when you heard the first ‘good morning’ not realizing it was the morning yet. You must’ve been working on the documents for longer than you thought.
Finally making it into the mess hall, you got a smaller plate of food, not wanting to take much time to eat so you could go back to what you were doing. You noticed Fives waving you down. You moved over to the table he was sitting at with your tray in hand. The table he sat at also included Tup, Hardcase, Hevy, Rex, and Kix. You arrived, smiling at everyone and saying good morning.
“Come eat with us, [Y/n]!” Fives invited. You sighed in disappointment, about to decline.
“If you’re about to say you can’t because you need to get back to work, I will restrain you to this table and personally make sure you eat,” Rex said. Though you knew he was joking, you raised your brows at his statement.
You sighed and moved to sit down next to Rex. He moved over so you could sit with enough room. The boys all cheered at the fact that you were joining them.
“So, [Y/n], did you sleep well?” Kix asked, noting how tired you look. You paused as you were about to take a bite and put it down, laughing awkwardly.
“Yeah, totally, I got like a good few hours,” you lied horribly. They all gave you a look of disapproval.
“We need our general to be at her best, how can that happen if you don’t rest?” Tup asked. They all nodded, agreeing.
“Well technically you don’t need me at my best until I recover so me skipping one night of sleep isn’t going to affect much,” You argued back. They were all about to say something in response when your Admiral interrupted, standing beside your table to inform you that the Jedi council was sending you a transmission. You told the Admiral you’d be right there and shrugged to the guys.
“Sorry, duty calls I guess,” You excused yourself from the meal you hadn’t taken a bite of and walked towards the bridge with the admiral. The boys all sighed.
“She didn’t even get to eat anything,” Hevy pointed out.
“I swear to god, that woman overworks herself,” Kix said in disapproval, crossing his arms. He wasn’t angry at you, he was just worried. They all were. Rex stayed very quiet, trying not to let his emotions get the best of him. If he could, he would drag you out of that stupid, pointless jedi meeting, make you eat something, and see to it that you got enough sleep. But he couldn’t for many reasons. And it made him feel powerless.
After a long, boring meeting with the Jedi counsel, you returned to your duties. This time, you were listening to clone complaints and requests. Whether they were about housing situations, other clones, or anything that was really bothering them. This wasn’t mandatory, in fact it wasn’t even protocol. You had started this for the 501st because you wanted to give them a voice. Every month every clone had the opportunity to talk to you as an equal about anything they needed. Though it hadn’t been intended, sometimes these turned into what seemed like therapy sessions, especially after battles with higher tolls.
You were in between meetings, and you couldn’t help but acknowledge the throbbing pain in your head. You reached over to take a sip from the cup you had on your desk, but realized it was empty. Sighing, you moved to get up and refill it before you had to talk to another clone, but were overwhelmed by a sudden flair of dizziness. Your ears started ringing, and black spots quickly filled your vision until you couldn’t see anything else. Your body met the ground with a loud thud and you blacked out.
You got an overwhelming sense of deja vu, opening your eyes in the med bay, seeing Rex, Kix, and Fives standing in a circle. You tried to let out a laugh, knowing what had happened, but it came out as a groan, your wounds on your stomach hurting a lot more for some reason. They came over to your side in an instant.
“You are so stubborn. You needed to take a break and you didn’t. You needed sleep. Rest. Food. Your body needs these things, [Y/n]!” Kix scolded you.
“I know. I’m sorry,” You looked away from them, ashamed of yourself. You really didn’t want them to worry. You realized that in trying to make less work for them, you caused more damage. You really didn’t mean for the tears to fill your eyes, but they did anyway and you tried to wipe them away before they could see.
“[Y/n]...” Fives said softly. This caused even more tears to fall.
Rex asked for a minute with you alone. Kix and Fives nodded, walking outside.
He helped you sit up and as soon as you were, you recoiled from his touch like it set you on fire.
“Why do you constantly refuse our help? Why are you so afraid of being vulnerable around us?” He asked. Your eyes widened and you looked at him, realizing he knew what you were doing. He knew your biggest insecurity. You couldn’t find the words to respond to him so he continued. “You don’t always have to be so strong.”
“Yes I do!” You quickly responded. “You all are so strong. You clones fight so bravely. You go into battle day in and day out, not knowing if it might be your last. Yes, those are orders, but I’ve seen how brave you all are. I want to be like you, Rex. I wanted to be brave like you. I admire you and I realized that you could never appreciate a coward so I wanted to be brave on and off the battlefield. Even if that meant overworking myself!”
“You mean you were doing this for my approval?” He asked, shocked. You met his eyes, nodding slowly. “Why would my approval mean so much to you? I’m just another clone, Captain or not.”
“You’re not ‘just another clone’. Not to me. I mean, none of you are, but Rex...I…” You struggled to find the words, so you just expressed your feelings in the only way you knew how, by showing him. You brought your lips to meet his, softly. Your hand reached to caress his face. You made the kiss quick and gave him all the chances in the world to back off if he wanted. When you separated, his eyes were still closed and he brought his hand to the back of your head to bring you back in for another kiss. This one was deeper, but still soft. It showed the passion of the feelings both of you had kept hidden in favor of your duties, but it showed the kindness and compassion you both had for each other.
You had no idea what to say when you separated again, so you were both just looking at each other, taking each other in. You softly smiled and gazed into his eyes with love. He smiled too. You quickly parted when you heard the door opening and Fives and Kix came back inside.
“On behalf of the entire 501st. You are to eat a real meal and get the rest your body actually deserves. We will all be checking on you to make sure this happens,” Kix announced. You shook your head, chuckling. You loved these boys.

in a way a continuation of this headcannon because the reader’s powers are the same and its the same backstory.
After the fight at the airport between the avengers, they all realized how stupid the accords were and how it provided them no freedoms to do the things they needed to. However, you pointed out that the idea of an accords was okay because if we’re being honest, the avengers didn’t really think about collateral. The avengers all met with the countries that made the accords and worked together to revise them to work the best for both parties.
Once that was settled, you all moved back into the compound and returned to normal life. Well, as normal as you can get with the avengers.
One day, you heard a loud booming noise outside and saw a flash of light come from outside. You opened your window and flew out quickly to investigate. When you got closer, you saw a tall blonde with longer hair and a hammer. With him was another tall man with long black hair. A few other avengers were already there and they seemed to be on edge.
You landed next to them and realized that the blonde was Thor. He was an avenger and you remembered seeing him on tv when New York was getting attacked.
“I’m sure you all remember my brother, Loki,” Thor introduced, gesturing to the man with black hair next to him. Loki looked about as excited to be there as everyone else was to see him.
“Wait, wasn’t that the guy who attacked New York? I saw him on TV when I was a little kid,” You asked Sam quietly, whispering towards him. Sam nodded his head and you looked back to Thor confused.
“Why is he here, Thor?” Tony asked, holding his armor-covered hand up to him, prepared to attack if he needed to. You seemed to be the only one not in a fighting stance, but to be fair, you really didn’t understand what was happening.
“I believe that it will be good for Loki to come and live with us all here! Who knows, maybe he could even become an avenger with the proper training!” Thor boomed with a smile. You felt yourself smile a bit just looking at him, he radiated so much pure, optimistic, happy energy.
“Absolutely not, he tried to take over the world, Thor. He killed people,” Natasha argued back.
“My brother may have had a complicated past, but I just know that this will be a good opportunity for him!”
You didn’t feel as though you were in any place to take a side, as you were not there in New York and did not know anything about Loki, but you felt as though if Loki was here to train to become an avenger, he should be able to. He didn’t seem like a terrible guy. You listened to them go back and forth for a while, discussing things you once again couldn’t input on because you were a child when these things happened.
Eventually, Thor convinced the rest of the Avengers to let Loki stay with them. However, he was basically on house arrest at the compound until they deemed him trustworthy enough to leave, and Tony made sure to tell Loki how he believed that to be a long, long time. Loki seemed to not be bothered at all, and hadn’t really talked throughout the entire interaction. His brother kind of took the lead and spoke out for him.
The next week, you didn’t see Loki much around the compound. He seemed to be brooding in his room or something like that. You shrugged and just thought he might be taking his time to get comfortable.
I mean, he did try to kill a lot of people in this compound. It's got to be awkward to just run into them in the same compound now that he lives with them, You thought, walking into the kitchen. Your wings flexed in surprise when you saw Loki in the kitchen. He looked up when you walked in and he looked like he was going to leave once he was aware of your presence, but you stopped him.
“You don’t have to leave, you know? We both live here and this kitchen is big enough for the two of us,” You said.
His face didn’t betray what he was thinking, but he didn’t make another move to leave. You got out some ingredients to make a sandwich for yourself and looked over to Loki, who was looking through the cabinet.
“So… you’re like… a god?” You asked him the question you’d been thinking the whole time since he moved in.
He looked at you and raised an eyebrow. The look on your face told him you were being serious.
“Yes,” He responded bluntly. You raised both of your eyebrows in your surprise that you got a verbal answer.
You hummed, going back to making your sandwich. Loki didn’t seem to find anything he wanted in the cabinet and made his way to leave the kitchen. “See ya, Loki!” You said as he exited.
The next few weeks went the same way, you running into Loki and initiating conversation with him, trying to get to know things about him. He was very blunt, his answers short. Sometimes he didn’t even answer and the conversations were very one sided but you still didn’t give up trying to get to know him. You knew that because Thor was still taking care of things on Asgard and coming back and forth, he didn’t really have time to check on how Loki was but for a few minutes. And the other avengers made no attempt to socialize with the god. So you decided to. You weren’t sure if they knew you were talking to him all the time, but if they did none of them made an attempt to stop you. They knew you were trusting, but they also knew you weren’t dumb, so they trusted you.
One day, you caught Thor when he was visiting the compound and asked him what Loki’s favorite earth food was, or if he could bring him some food from Asgard. Thor was surprised a teenager was concerned about Loki, but thanked you for thinking about him. He told you about an Asgard dish that could easily be made with Earth food and you thanked him, going to the kitchen and started making it. When you were done with it, you went to Loki’s room and knocked on his door. It took a minute before he opened it, but he was surprised to see you when he did open it.
“Hi! I noticed you didn’t seem interested in any of the snacks in the cabinet and haven’t really eaten any good meals since you got here, so I made you something. Thor said it was similar to an Asgardian dish. I’m… not sure exactly which one. It was pronounced weird. But I hope you enjoy it!” You said, handing it to him. He wasn’t sure how to respond, so he just looked at the dish and then back up at you.
“Anyway, I hope you have a good day, Loki!” You told him, walking back to clean up your mess in the kitchen.
Loki stood there with the door open, looking at the dish. His thoughts were jumbled and he couldn’t figure you out. What could you possibly want from him that would make you try so hard to get on his good side? He appreciated the gesture, but he didn’t trust that it was just out of the kindness of your heart.
Later that week, you were hanging out with a majority of the avengers in a lounge room, TV on in the background, but you all were mostly just talking.
The topic of Loki got brought up quickly. They started talking about still not being able to trust him and how awkward it is he lives at the compound now. Usually you wouldn't say anything because you didn’t feel like it's your place but you just had to this time.
“Well maybe, if you guys even tried to talk to Loki, you would know he’s not a terrible person,” You defended.
Bruce laughed, “Are we talking about the same man that mind controlled Clint and made me go all hulk mode on everyone?”
Clint agreed.
“Jesus,” You stood up, wings ruffled in anger.
“[Y/n], why are you getting so defensive?” Sam asked.
You turned around and gave him an annoyed look. “Because you all are sitting here, saying Loki could never be anything but a villain, but won’t stop treating him like he is!” You threw your hands up in defeat. Walking a bit to the right before turning back to them. “Like, how is he supposed to prove to you guys he’s good when you won’t even give him the time of day! I’m not saying to go in trusting him 100%, I know he did bad things in his past. But haven’t we all? Isn’t there some part of our past we wish we could go back and erase because it was a mistake?” You looked to Natasha especially while saying this.
“[Y/n], I understand what you’re trying to say, but it’s incredibly naive of you to trust Loki, and to compare what he did to any of us,” Clint responded. You looked at him, confused and hurt. Looking to the other people sitting in the room, they agreed, nodding their heads. Your eyes started tearing up.
“If I’m too ‘young’ and ‘naive’ to understand these things then why am I even an avenger? You can’t sit here and constantly bring up my age and lack of experience when I try to say things just because you don’t think I’m right! If Loki’s villainy in the past never affected you guys personally you wouldn’t be sitting here holding this, what? 5 year grudge against him!?” You felt a few tears fall down your face and you brushed them away, almost angry that they decided to fall when you were trying to talk to your comrades. You were trying to tell them that you don’t want to be treated like a kid, but here you were crying like one.
“[Y/n]...” Sam started, getting up when he saw you were crying. You shook your head, turning away from them and running back to your room. You collapsed onto your bed and let out a few sobs.
You weren’t necessarily crying because the avengers didn’t accept Loki. It upset you, but that wasn’t why you were crying. You were crying because this wasn’t the first time they have brought up your age to belittle your opinion or said you were not experienced enough to have an opinion on something. You were sick of them treating you like that when you’d been a part of the avengers for almost 2 years. You jumped slightly when you heard a knock at your door. You thought it was Sam coming to talk to you, but you didn’t want to speak to him.
“Go away, Sam,” You yelled.
“It’s Loki,” You heard his voice from the other side of the door. Your eyes widened in surprise and jumped up off the bed. Walking to open the door. You tried to make it look like you weren’t crying, but when you opened the door he could see the redness and puffiness around your eyes.
“Is… something wrong?” You asked, having no idea why Loki would come talk to you of his own accord.
“Can we talk?” He asked. You nodded and led him into your room. He looked around for a second, taking in your room before you sat on the bed and invited him to do the same. You sat more towards the middle of the bed, crossing your feet in towards you. Loki sat near the edge, barley making an indent in the covers. It was probably as awkward for him as it was for you.
“Listen, I’m sorry if I’ve been annoying you the past few weeks. I’ve been trying to make you feel welcome here but I know it's been a lot. No one really wants a teenager all up in their business. So… I’m sorry,” You started, looking up at him.
Now, you were usually good at reading people, however, ever since Loki moved into the compound, you could never read his face. Even now, you looked at his face and couldn’t see a single expression that revealed what he was thinking.
“I don’t understand you. Why are you so nice to me? And why would you go against your teammates to defend me? What exactly does that accomplish you?” You sigh a little as you realize he overheard you talking to the group of people out there.
“I don’t really have a reason to be nice besides wanting to make you feel welcome. I know what it’s like to feel… out of place.” You gesture to the wings on your back and the horns on your head. “Ever since this happened, the avengers are the only people that seem to accept me as the way I am. And I believe everyone deserves to have that. Even if the avengers don’t end up being that for you, I hope you do find it.” You explain. “I trust that you have good in you. Being mischievous doesn’t mean being evil,” You smile at him.
For the first time since Loki moved in with the avengers, he smiled. Even if it was a small smile, it was genuine. He nodded and got up, on his way to leave. Before he did leave though, he turned around and revealed he was never truly annoyed by you and enjoyed the talks you had.

grow as we go [shoto todoroki x reader]
[not my gif]
based on the song grow as we go - ben platt
word count: 1377
warnings: angst but fluff at the end, self doubting shoto
a/n: I love him i love him i love him
You say there's so much you don't know
You need to go and find yourself
You had befriended Shoto Todoroki when you were a first year at UA. The friendship didn’t begin smoothly, as he had told everyone he hadn’t come to UA to make friends. Despite this, You persisted. You constantly sought out his company, invited him to things you and your friends were doing, and encouraged your friends to try to include him in activities they were doing.
Though he never expressed this out loud, you could tell he was grateful. He had been caught up in wanting to be a hero, and he forgot he was a teenager still. Though, you had to remember he never really had that much of a childhood to start, so it made sense that he didn’t realize it was okay to make friends and have fun.
You had started dating him towards the end of your second year. He was more open around you, and had started to even let himself show this affection physically. He held your hand, kept you close when he needed you, and for the most part didn’t push you away anymore.
However, something happened the night that you graduated UA. Everyone was celebrating, but Shoto seemed out of it. He was in deep thought all night and retired to bed early. You couldn’t help but feel disappointed he didn’t stick around but you allowed him the space he seemed to be needing.
The next morning, he called you into his room to talk.
“The past three years have been crazy. I don’t think anyone would expect the amount of times villains attacked us, or how many times we were in danger. But it really helped us all grow as heroes,” He started. He was sat on his bed, staring at his hands that were folded in his lap. You were standing in front of him.
“I know, it was wild,” You chuckled, though you were a bit thrown off. Todoroki never seemed to be the type to reminisce.
“But… I can’t help but regret something,” Shoto continued, still refusing to look at you.
Your heart stopped and you blinked. Surely he didn’t mean you?
“Don’t get me wrong, you’ve been amazing. I truly do care about you and I really wish I didn’t have to do this but, I feel like there’s so much about me that I haven’t really understood yet. I need to know myself fully before I begin to know someone like I’m trying to know you.”
You blinked back tears, “So… you’re breaking up with me? Because you think I’ve been holding you back?”
You say you'd rather be alone
'Cause you think you won't find it tied to someone else
“No!” You yelled, causing Shoto to finally look at you. “We’ve been through so much, we’ve been there for each other, I loved you! And you’re going to go off like that because you feel like you don’t know who you are?! You don’t always have to do things alone Shoto! Why can’t you realize that! You’ve always tried dealing with your problems alone! You never let me know what you’re thinking about when you feel sad, or angry. I just want to be there for you! Let me be there for you!”
Ooh, who said it's true
That the growing only happens on your own?
They don't know me and you
Shoto looked down, and shook his head.
“Because I’m not comfortable enough to share my emotions yet, I’m not only hurting myself, but also you and this relationship. I’m only doing what I think is best for us,” He explained.
I don't think you have to leave
If to change is what you need
You can change right next to me
“Then let me help you! Let me guide you through it. Let me be there for you. Why do you always have to be the strong one? Why did you always comfort me when I was sad but never let me do the same?”
When you're high, I'll take the lows
You can ebb and I can flow
And we'll take it slow
And grow as we go
Grow as we go
“This is just something I need to do for myself!” Shoto raised his voice a little bit, standing up and looking at you. He couldn’t help but feel his heart break at your face. You were heartbroken, the man you’d grown to love was ripping your heart out. Three years of liking him thrown out the window because he couldn’t open up to you yet.
You won't be the only one
I am unfinished, I've got so much left to learn
I don't know how this river runs
But I'd like the company through every twist and turn
“I’m the same way Shoto! I’m not perfect! I still have so many flaws and things to work out, but we can fix them together! Please,” Your voice cracked as you pleaded with him, causing his eyes to water. “What even made you think about this?”
Ooh, who said it's true
That the growing only happens on your own?
They don't know me and you
He looked down at the floor. “I heard you talking to your friend from General Studies at graduation. He was talking about how I seem like the type that doesn’t open up. Everything he said just reminded me about how I don’t deserve someone like you. And how you deserve so much better.”
You remembered the talk you had with Hitoshi. He had asked you how your boyfriend was and after you responded, he talked about how closed off he seemed and asked you if you were doing okay in the relationship.
You don't ever have to leave
If to change is what you need
You can change right next to me
“So you must’ve heard when I told him that I’m the happiest around you. About how I love you more than anything else, faults and all. About how I love you, no one else?” You responded, moving closer to him.
Shoto looked at you, sadness in his eyes before he shook his head.
“Well I did. I told Hitoshi about how great my boyfriend is and how amazing he makes me feel. I told him that I would never want to leave him,” You said, bringing your hand up to the right side of his face, caressing it gently. He leaned into it lightly and closed his eyes. You saw a small tear fall down his cheek and you immediately reached over to wipe it away.
I don't know who we'll become
I can't promise it's not written in the stars
But I believe that when it's done
We're gonna see that it was better
That we grew up together
“I’m sorry,” He spoke up quietly. “I don’t deserve you.”
You silenced him with a soft kiss. A few tears rolled down your face.
“You deserve the world, Shoto. I love you, and I promise I would never leave you. I don’t care that you need time to yourself sometimes. I don’t care that you’re not the best at showing your emotions, because it’s you I fell in love with. It’s you. It’s always been you.”
Tell me you don't wanna leave
'Cause if change is what you need
You can change right next to me
When you're high, I'll take the lows
You can ebb and I can flow
We'll take it slow
He pulled you into another kiss and pulled you down onto the bed so you were straddling him. The kiss wasn’t demanding or harsh, it was soft and slow. He slowly pulled you down so you were both laying down. You rested your head on his chest and fell asleep listening to the calming sound of his heart beating below your ear. He rested his hands on your head and back, rubbing circles above your spine. He felt his chest warm up in the sensation that you gave him. He always loved the feeling, the knowledge that you cared about him and loved him no matter what.
And grow as we go
Grow as we go
Grow as we go
Grow as we go
