q, are there any vietnamese media/films/series/shows that you're watching recently? probably a dumb question to ask considering you have like 40+ on your watchlist rn but just in case i can get some new viet media recs. btw i love your new layout! and i know you're traumatised by ch3 lakorns but my cherie amour is still cute/healing/not a dumpster fire yet... so far... but i'll update you by the end of my watch
<3333
i definitely still have my cherie amour in the back of my mind! your gifs do make it look really good and i love tor and yaya! i might start it if i can't any good lakorn in october and november but im not promising anything yet 😭😭 im kinda overwhelmed by the amount of dramas im watching right now
and unfortunately i moved to a different country years ago, so i haven't been keeping up with viet media for a very long time :( i no longer have access to our tv channels. the last viet drama i watched was a short webdrama called sweet business (2019) and honestly that's about it. if mdl allowed viet dramas on their site, id be able to discover and watch more! otherwise i have no idea what's airing right now dfjgfkfgk
my mom on the other hand is a huge fan of reality tv shows. i sometimes sit down and watch the mentor and anh trai say hi with her, but that doesn't happen very often.... she helps me with the names since i don't recognize most celebs 😭
i try to support viet cinema whenever a big movie comes out. i got to watch mai (2024) and nhà bà nữ (2023) in theaters when they had showings here. i also went back to vietnam 2 years ago to catch em và trịnh (2022)! but that's about all that i got to see

Hi hi! I’m a new fantasy and taeyang is my bias! I happened to find your blog for gifs and I was so happy to see skz too! Hyunjin/felix are my skz biases :) who are your biases in skz and sf9? Also, what videos (performances/reality shows/interviews, and etc) do you recommend of sf9?
welcome to the very small circle of fantasies on tunglr 🫰🏻 taeyang pulling again he rly is the gateway drug lmaoo unfortunately and fortunately he’s my bias too so i understand.. excited for you to get into sf9! they’re a fun and talented bunch on top of being mega hot mega tall.. anyway yes skz super fun too, i don’t rly keep up anymore but i like felix and lino! hyunjin was so fun to gif love that dude.
i highly recommend a dive into sf9’s music cus their whole discog is rly good n diverse in sound 👍🏻 but to answer your q here are some of my fav live stages off the top of my head (out of many)
not a stage but taeyang’s SMOOTH CRIMINAL cover
not a stage but zuho’s BANG BANG
MOVE cover / Mnet Kingdom
SHH / Imperfect concert
200116 NOW OR NEVER special stage
200109 GOOD GUY
LOVE SHOT cover / KCON’19
PLAY HARD / KCON:TACT3
SUMMER BREEZE / KCON:TACT3
190613 RPM
200709 SUMMER BREEZE
literally any Tear Drop stage especially if you’re a taeyang fan
JUNGLE GAME (rock ver.) / 1st hall tour concert (sorry no HD vid online but this is my fav sf9 stage of all time so i’m plugging lol)
and for reality shows/vlogs/dramas you can check out this list made by @/sfnet. SF9 SANGSA is a classic! SF9 Center & League of Sepgends series are also very fun. generally you can just follow sf9’s youtube channel or hunt thru fnc’s yt channel or vlive for earlier variety eps. there’s a bunch of random variety appearances they’ve done here n there that are all on youtube i can maybe make a list if you need more
and if you like kdramas definitely check out rowoon & chani’s stuff (extraordinary you, sky castle, king’s affection, tomorrow, etc). the other members have done webdramas too; i enjoyed dokgobin is updating (starring inseong & hwiyoung) it’s cute fun and low stakes
if you want more holistic or specific recs @/sfnet and @/byfantasy are good blogs to follow! they’re definitely much more knowledgeable and equipped to answer anything sf9 related LOL
and lastly hwiyoung makes bangers on soundcloud if you like the r&b pop genre
#tbh i havent rly kept up since scream era sorry but i’m sure once you dive in vids will just keep popping up#happy that sf9 gained a new fan <3 they’re great#asks

beth’s 2019 recap (kdramas & webdramas)
Since some of you guys have been interested in a recap of mine, here are my favourite shows of 2019. Then, there will be a post on my favourite artists and also a post on my own stories published on Tumblr. Hope you enjoy! *-*
Webdramas:
A-Teen & A-Teen 2
I think it’s safe to say that it’s a light, easy-to-watch show. I personally grew fond of some of the characters but I have to admit that there were some characters that I couldn’t stand during season 2 (I’m not looking at our main couple though, Naeun and Bomin’s characters were absolutely adorable together). Overall, it’s a fun and nice webdrama.
One Fine Week
Since I knew both idols who played the main characters (Jisoo from Lovelyz and Junseop from Myteen), I’ve decided to give it a try. Honestly, it was better than I’ve expected and I’ve rooted for both couples. I also loved the OST that Jisoo and Junseop sang together for the show. It wasn’t forced either, so I think it’s worth to watch once.
Crash! Insignificant Roommates
I was just in the beginning of my stanning phase when I started watching Golden Child’s own webdrama and it helped a lot with memorizing names and it was also a lot of funny! I’ve truly enjoyed it, it was so entertaining and also the love part of it wasn’t forced and not all of the guys had their own love interests, so that was a bonus, too. It’s a must if you want to stan Golden Child or if you just feel like laughing a lot.
Soul Plate
Gosh, Astro has really contributed to this list this year. Apart from Eunwoo, Moonbin and Sanha, we can see the other guys acting as well and I can’t say a single bad word about their acting. I’ve laughed a lot while watching Soul Plate and even though the love part seemed a bit forced to me, it was worth watching because of all those hilarious scenes.
Kdramas:
Strong Woman Do Bong Soon
I was late to the hype of Strong Woman Do Bong Soon but between starting the new semester and after working through the whole summer, I had a week where I didn’t have anything to do, so I’ve decided to binge-watch a show and this was my choice. Gosh, I’ve laughed soooo much! I loved the main couple’s chemistry a lot (also poor Jisoo with his second male lead syndrome), I think the development of their relationship was really good. A must watch if you love romcoms.
Still 17
I was late to the hype of Still 17, too, but with the lovely @lily-blue, we’ve decided to watch this show and man, it was a really good choice. This show really had anything from broken characters with their own traumas and character developments to cute, fluff scenes and very hilarious parts. One of the best dramas I’ve watched so far, I have to admit.
Sky Castle
In terms of acting and message, Sky Castle was my absolute favourite. Maybe it’s because my senior year and all the stress and pressure that came with it wasn’t that long ago, it resonated with me even more. It had everything from comparison between sisters and brothers, between classmates and even friends, perfectionism, pressure, emotional manipulation, the cruel education system of Korea to dark secrets that these rich families tried to hide no matter what it took. I really loved the moral questions that were asked in the drama and the execution was perfect, really. It’s a darker, heavier drama to watch but it’s all worth it.
Moments of Eighteen
I really loved that this drama dared to be more than just a poor guy&rich girl kind of story. It also reflected a lot on how the Korean education system treats students but I loved seeing how the characters changed throughout the story, how they stood up for themselves and for each other. I especially liked the head teacher’s character, he was the epitome of a real, excellent teacher. Also, praise for the LGBTQ+ representation in this one.
Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung
I don’t usually watch historian dramas but I’ve watched it because I love Eunwoo’s acting and I don’t regret it. Even though there were some parts when I was confused because there were so many characters and so many connections that I couldn’t put the pieces together, it was overall a very enjoyable drama. Not just because of the acting but also because of the moral questions it has brought up regarding woman’s role in society, the role of historians and the era they lived in.
Extraordinary You
This is a recent one but it deserves all the praise that it gets. I love the idea of the whole drama, it was a story in a story, and of course we live for some good angst! Gosh, there were so many parts where I didn’t know what to expect, the ending was also quite unpredictable. I loved both the angsty and the heart-fluttering scenes, it was such a good drama! It will definitely have a special place in my heart.
currently watching: Search WWW (love it so far, love the moral questions that it implies regarding the internet and of course love the badass, strong female characters!)
Kmovies:
Parasite
I feel like my review can’t do justice to this movie. It’s so interesting, definitely not your typical romcom. It has such a great portrayal of the difference between social layers, it’s raw and dark. It deserves all the awards and praise, it’s a must watch if you are socially sensitive.
Tune In For Love
My beloved drama partner @dat-town and I decided to watch this movie mainly because of Jung Haein (and his cute puppy eyes), but it was so much more than just a movie that I will remember because of him. For someone who is a part of Generation Z, it was an interesting glimpse into two youngsters’ life and how they tried to stay in contact when they didn’t have technological devices and such back in the days. Plus, it has one of my all-time favourite break-up scenes and if you’re going to watch it, you’ll know which one I’m referring to. I loved the main characters and how they grew up and questioned their choices and made mistakes and all that. It was such a beautiful movie.

I started watching Stuck on You and it’s SO GOOD! I absolutely adore trueloveskiss and his optimistic energy despite how much alt.media pushes him away. He’s just so open compared to JM, and not just with his personality. Maybe we’ll have a storyline about their sexualities? Seems like it would make the show too busy, but it’s just so interesting how different their rooms are, and how rainbow Reb is personally, emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually. Also, maybe it was because I was eating a delicious vanilla bean macaron while watching episode 2, but I just couldn’t really feel JM’s ex-girlfriend flashbacks. Maybe it’s because so many BLs have girls (even ones who d-worded if you know what I mean) affect their storylines. Like, I love having pan/bi characters but it would be nice to get some truly gay characters (especially with semes) in BLs.
Right? It's such a nice show and it's so good. Honestly... it's the first Pinoy BL that I've watched in a while and genuinely found to be good. I feel bad saying that? But it's been a long time. I feel like the last one I truly enjoyed at all with Pearl and even that wasn't... good most of the time. Stuck On You, so far, is truly good.
I love Reb and his tiny bouncy naiveness, his need to try to be friends and to take care of JM because he wants to make it up to hm...
I love them so much. And JM's ex-GF flashbacks are just amusing to me but that's because, honestly, I'm kinda a bad person?
I full expect her to be dead but watch the show prove me wrong. I don't know!
I look forward to watching this show so much.

Our 2019 Drama Recs
Yes, we’re writing our 2019 drama rec post in 2021...! We didn’t have one earlier simply because we didn’t get to watch enough rec-worthy 2019 dramas in time. But here we are, having caught up with some great 2019 dramas back in 2020. It’s better late than never - and the same goes for you if you haven’t watched any of these. :)
1. Royal Nirvana 鹤唳华亭 (2019) + 别云间 the special (2020) recommended by Admin JL
I just couldn’t go without ever expressing my ocean-deep love for Royal Nirvana. Life-changing. Monumental. Instantly an all-time favourite of mine after I binged it in emotional devastation. Honestly, it is not the easiest show to watch - it requires mental and emotional effort for its highly nuanced and poetic writing. But it’s also the surest way to etch a story into your heart.
It’s also a tremendously rewarding and cathartic story for me. It’s not everyday that we see such a strongly thematic and meaningful story, which means a hell lot to me with its exploration of father/child relationship, loss, obligations and morality - among many. Xiao Dingquan will forever be one of the most important, well-loved protagonists in my heart. We’re the choices we make more so than what we become in the end.
2. The World Between Us 我們與惡的距離 recommended by Admin JY
There are so many things that this show gets right that its critical acclaim is more than well-deserved. From mental health representation, influence of media, the concept of fairness, and showing the other side of a common dichotomous narrative, this show packs this all in a balanced, objective yet emotional portrayal within a mere 10 episodes.
Showing the aftermath of an unfortunate mass shooting, this drama explores the emotional perspectives of all those involved. It gives proper acknowledgement to the victims of tragedies yet balances out with very fair and accurate portrayals of the perpetrators' families and their own victimhood. At the same time, the show includes some of the most accurate and fair representation of mental illness that I have ever seen!!! Not only are mental health patients’ struggled deftly portrayed, but also the professionals’ perspectives and struggles are clearly represented.
The World Between Us is the wake-up call we all need to see beyond the biases we easily assume to see the the bigger picture, of the world not just between us but that brings us together.
3. Hello Debate Opponent 你好对方辩友 recommended by Admin JL
This is a pleasant little surprise of a coming-of-age story! Quite rare for a cdrama. Centred around a university debate club, the story goes hard on competitive debate representation which comes hand in hand with its sensible character writing and development. It’s a feel-good and quirky drama about growth and friendship - and can provide comfort and nuggets of wisdom to youths and anyone else alike. If anything, you’ll learn a thing or two about competitive debate with this drama’s involvement of numerous professional debaters in its production. :)
Watch the official episodes, subbed, on Youtube.
4. When the Camellia Blooms recommended by Admin JY
No handsome or rich chaebol to save the day, no dreams come true of getting rich or living in a luxurious home in the city, no flashy glamourous fashion-show-like clothes - When the Camellia Blooms is instead quite truly a down-to-earth breath of fresh air KDrama.
For a slice-of-life drama, it includes many elements subtly yet skilfully woven together with important themes of family, community bonds and self-confidence. Even amidst the realistic struggles of societal biases and single parenthood, the show never fails to inject positivity into the situation, and more so by emphasizing the value of kindness.
With a strong cast and diverse characters, a subtle but solid OST and beautiful sceneries, this is definitely a lovely and heartwarming drama that breaks the stereotype of what it means to have a strong female lead and even what it means to write a romcom kdrama.
5. Please Love Me 拜托请你爱我 recommended by Admin JL
If you’re a steadfast fake marriage trope junkie like me, look no further. This is a drama I wasn’t expecting to enjoy - many romcom webdramas have been more misses than hits - but very glad I did. Straight off the bat, it was already pleasing for its sensible character writing - and eventually continues to prove that it fundamentally understands how two very different people come together in a relationship. It even provided me with little surprises of the usual trope - it’s one of the few romance stories which has its leads’ relationship held up after a mutual confirmation of feelings. Youyou and Yi Han are so wholesome. <3
Watch the official episodes, subbed, on Youtube.

Hi, I’ve been a casual listener of sf9 for a while and was thinking about getting more into them. I know who all the members are but I was wondering if you could tell me a little more about them to get to know them better?
my time has COME 😱😍
dear anon, I’ll happily do exactly that (I also have a guide from rpm era which you can find here - there’s info on all the individual members as well as video recs!)
I’m guessing you already know their ages/positions (if not, check the guide!), so I’ll mostly concentrate on their characters - let’s begin, shall we?
Youngbin: our warm-hearted leader. extremely fond of all his members and loves us fantasy so much. feels very comfortable around us and is always very open during his bin’us lives (the name of his weekly vlives). has literally the cutest giggle and also laughs a lot (has literal laughing fits all the time). sometimes a bit clueless but he’s just so cute, so it’s okay. just super charismatic on stage and a giant fluff-ball off stage!
Inseong: our brain of the group. is really super smart (currently pursuing his masters degree!) yet also somehow super dumb. has the weirdest ideas like pretending to be a tomato or rock on his bubble. he literally lives to make people laugh and to make everyone feel comfortable around him. he’s very outgoing yet also somehow super awkward? the secondhand-embarrassment is always very real with him. has recently been cast in two different web/kdramas and a musical!
Jaeyoon: our super squishy honey voiced boy. lives and breathes in “cute” but is also super lethal on stage (likes to show off and teases fantasy more often than not). often tries out diys/crafts during his vlives (gardening, making bracelets, cooking, baking etc.) - wants to let us know he’s always there for us with those lives (his own words, not mine). takes special care of the younger members, those are his babies. just genuinely one of the nicest people on this planet. wiggles when he‘s excited.
Dawon: our bundle of utter chaos. he’s loud, chaotic and loves to tease the other members. but at the same time he’s also super thoughtful and soft. incredibly talented and an all-rounder, truly just super funny. he literally never stops talking and you can’t make him. he’s just full of life and joy and likes to make others laugh. also has his own vlive show called “bingsu” where he often eats different kinds of food and just talks to us. has recently been cast in his first kdrama!
Zuho: our soft cat dad. he looks intimidating because his face is all edges and angles, but he’s honestly super soft. gets scared easily, giggles a lot and is a social butterfly (friends with many idols!). he writes and produces own songs, some make it onto sf9′s albums, some he publishes on his soundcloud or on sf9′s youtube channel! loves his two cats more than life and is very proud of them, sometimes shows them during his vlives. recently starred in his first webdrama!
Rowoon: our gentle giant tree. obviously very handsome, yes, but also just such a sweet and polite boy. is super dedicated and hard-working, would do literally anything for his members. always lets people know he’s part of sf9 as he’s very popular and well-known on his own as an actor and model. likes skin ship, especially when it comes to chani. always makes sure everyone around him is okay and looked after. very cute giggle. can’t drive, ran over a red light once.
Taeyang: our sunshine personified. his smile does more for society than any politician ever could. quite shy and more reserved at first, but can also get quite chaotic and loud. gets teased a lot but also teases back, he’s more savage than you’d think. THE biggest exo-l and loves doing dance covers. also comes up with own choreographies (came up with a choreo for their song blank). doesn’t know what’s going on 24/7, is truly just extremely clueless and needs to be told everything twice (or even more often).
Hwiyoung: our certified baby boy. the second he smiles, your heart will be his. extremely cute without even trying. chani and he are two pretty best friends even though they always bicker. writes his own songs and releases them on soundcloud (even wrote one about his cat). he’s interested in fashion and likes to wear accessories. his long hair will forever remain iconic. very wise and philosophical, especially for his age! currently starring in the second season of the kdrama mermaid prince!
Chani: our tired maknae. he looks innocent with his big eyes and soft face, but don’t be fooled - he’s evil. always teases his hyungs, never ever answers any of their texts. he’s an incredibly talented and dedicated actor (once began licking his lips 2 weeks before his 9secs long prison scene to make them look more dry and chapped). he’s definitely a maknae on top, gets spoiled by all his hyungs, no one can ever be mad at him. not big on skin ship and always tries (and fails) to avoid rowoon because of that.
I hope this helps a bit! and if you want to know more about them/have any more questions, feel free to always drop by my inbox! sf9 are my best boys and I’m always happy to talk about them 🥰

Hi Sam! I've only ever watched ALSB and loved it but don't know where to begin with Cdramas. Would you be able to rec some that are similar in genre (and preferably not with a 10000 eps lol)? Also are all Cdramas dubbed over? :( I noticed ALSB wasn't but I figured it's cos it was a webdrama?
hello nonnie! omg the way that I kept wracking my brain for what ALSB could possibly stand for before finally reaching “a love so beautiful” this is what happens when I read asks when I'm still not fully awake in the morning.
unfortunately most cdramas are dubbed (some much better than others) and it really throws everyone off at first but I guarantee that the more you watch, the more you’ll get used to it. cdramas usually do dubbing to ensure the lines are being said in a standard mandarin accent or sometimes simply because of limited budgets. also pretty much every cdrama is pre-produced (unlike with kdramas) and they are usually broadcast on web platforms like tenecent, mangotv, youku, ect. because getting a show on a cable network in china is nearly impossible. plus many of these dramas are usually catered towards younger audiences and these online platforms are readily accessible. I would recommend searching youtube (many channels like youku/mangotv upload their dramas with subs there as well) and downloading apps like WeTv, MGTV, iqiyi and hotpot tv for more dramas with subs.
ANYWAYS, I would be happy to recommend you more dramas! you’re in luck because most of the cdramas I watch are modern day and generally less than 50 eps. I'll bold the ones that I especially enjoyed ^^
I would say these ones are most similar to a love so beautiful in the idea that it’s a coming of age kind of story where the characters start off in school/uni and then grow up, or in general are simply school settings:
Wait Up My Youth (24 eps)
Put Your Head on My Shoulder (24 eps)
Le Coup De Foudre (35 eps)
Accidentally in Love (30 eps)
Go Ahead (40 eps)
Symphony’s Romance (40 eps)
Sweet Tai Chi (24 eps)
Love o2o (30 eps)
These ones are just more romcoms in general that I’ve enjoyed (to varying degrees, but it’s all preference)
Intense love (24 eps)
My Mr. Mermaid (36 eps)
The Fox’s Summer (21 eps)
The World Owes Me A First Love (24 eps)
Fall in Love (30 eps)
The Romance of Tiger and Rose (24 eps) - the only remotely historical drama on this list because of obvious reasons once you see the cast
Please Love Me (24 eps)
Flavour It’s Yours (25 eps)
My Girlfriend is an Alien (28 eps)
Some more plot-involved ones
Because of You (56 eps) - longer but worth it
Love Me if You Dare (24 eps)
When A Snail Falls in Love (21 eps)
Memory Lost (12 eps) - but there are 3 seasons
Deep in My Heart (28 eps)
These next ones are one’s people generally have enjoyed I just personally haven’t finished/watched
My Huckleberry Friends (30 eps)
Ode to Joy (42 eps) - very similar vibes to the Kdrama “Age of Youth”
Go Go Squid (41 eps)
Girlfriend (36 eps)
Skate into Love (40 eps)
Fairyland Lovers (35 eps)
Mr. Fighting (44 eps)
I hope you can find something on this list and that it provides a good starting point for you!

I think jisung’s existence on its own is a cultural reset. That man is amazing I swear.
Also same with exams, I graduated last year and was doing this program called the IB (sucks btw I freaking hate it) and I learned NOTHING bc of online classes, they felt optional as hell and luckily enough I had no exams so I received the diploma without having to do any of those. That was the only win I swear.
Selena the series is really nice! I think a lot of people compare it to the JLo movie. I havent seen it so I wouldn’t be able to say. The ending of the series was a bit odd imo but I understand why they did it the way they did!! AND yes it’s officially my comfort show 🥳 It’s been a while since I’ve watched any dramas, I’m currently watching Love Alarm (slowly bc I procrastinate watching things too oof). Which dramas are your fave?? Any recs are welcome 😅
Romcom dreams are gr8, often times they involve a club and the same setting all the ikr BUT with a bit of sleep deprivation I can change the setting into a dystopian romcom nightmare-ish atmosphere 😎
ALSO OKAY FELIX WITH A MULLET DUDE I CANT!!!! WHEN HE HAS BROWN HAIR I SWEAR I DIED BC IT LOOKED SO GOOD ON HIM :,) The way I feel about renjun’s current hair style is how I felt abt Felix’s Brunet era 😔♥️
Jisung's whole existence,,,fr he is too powerful.
Omg i am so jealous 😩😩 this year's and last year's seniors graudated without the exams as well bc of corona but i doubt i will be this lucky💔😔
I haven't seen the JLo movie either sjsjs i'm bad w movies😭but i'll make sure to watch Selena !! Also you are like the third person telling me they're watching love alarm and i am so concerned bc i literally despised that drama. As for recs, i LOVED EXTRACURRICULAR and i wont ever stop talking about it. its the best kdrama i've ever watched😩 i also liked itaewon class bc i am basic, sky castle and alice in the borderland (japanese) !! And if you're into webdramas, which i personally am bc they are shorter,,,i can recommed a-teen, pop out boy and the way i hate you !! 💕
A CLUB ?? THAT SOUNDS SPICY DJSJSK my dreams usually make zero sense. I literally had a dream tonight that i was in an alice in borderland universe but instead of playing cards i got kpop photocards at the end😭😭✋
FELIXS BRUNETTE MULLET AND RENJUN'S CURRENT HAIR ARE THE TOP OF MY KPOP HAIRSTYLES LIST AAAAAH

it’s a very very sweet and excellent drama. it made me laugh and also cry so hard oh my god i recommend it to everyone
romance is a bonus book.
kang dani is a divorced, jobless woman in her thirties. cha eunho is her childhood friend, now a successful writer who also works in a publishing house. following a surprising turn of events, dani ends up living with eunho and gets a job in the publishing house. they reconnect, and romance quickly blooms between them
my first kdrama and i love it SO MUCH. every character is soooo lovely and it just makes you feel good. the ost is also amazing
splash splash love.
on the day of her SATs, a young girl jumps in a puddle and ends up in the joseon kingdom that is currently suffering from a drought. soon enough, the people believe she will be able to bring the rain back, and as she navigates through her new life she also teaches the prince advanced mathematics and the two progressively get closer.
a cute, two episodes drama! it’s def a good drama if you want to laugh and relax a little. for some reason, the main girl’s cellphone still works, and it’s hilarious seeing the clueless prince trying to use it
what’s wrong with secretary kim?
after working for lee youngjoon for nine years, secretary kim wants to resign in order to focus on herself a little. this leads to several, hilarious misunderstandings as youngjoon tries his best to convince secretary kim to stay by his side. at first, he believe he only wants her to stay because she’s excellent at her job, but he gradually realizes his feeling for her might run deeper than he previously thought.
a fun workplace drama! the main lead starts out as your typical narcissistic rich guy, but his character development is stellar! he strives to become a better person and his awkwardness is really sweet. the main leads’ chemistry is amazing and the side couples are also adorable! there is some angst and sad backstories, but its overall a cute drama.
twenty twenty.
chae dahee, a quiet girl, wishes to break free of her mom’s overprotectiveness, and meets lee hyunjin, an aspiring musician, during a party. they immediately take an interest in each other, and we watch them as they deal with their personal struggles.
it’s a cute webdrama, and it stars kang yuchan from a.c.e as a side character!! honestly describing the story was a bit... hard? because there are several storylines that sort of intertwine together. i promise you, though, it’s a very good drama that deals with interesting issues while also giving you hilarious scenes and lovable couples.
°˖✧ °˖✧ °˖✧ °˖✧ °˖✧ °˖✧
those are mostly comedy + romance kdramas. i hope you’ll like them!!!
here are some honorable mentions:
kingdom (angst)
hi bye mama (angst, fluff)
part time idol (comedy)

hey i was wondering if u have any high school romance kdrama rec?? ive been searching and the ones i found are too old,, thank you !!
Hey! Sorry for replying so late :(
SO here are few list of high school drama I have watched! (no particular order ) Well not many new romance school dramas were done so that’s why mostly you would find old ones :
1. School 2017 - 16 episodes (2017)
Though it may not have a great story line, first half is really enjoying and unpredictable in the plot-wise but later on it just lacks a bit of story… But romance and acting wise if was fantastic esp the lead chemistry was just amazing ( kim se jong and kim junghyun’s acting omg!) that if i got bored i would skip to their scenes. Other than that even the other characters in drama are also to be looked out for. It also deals bit on bullying in Korean society like most of high-school dramas do.
2. Sassy Go Go / Cheer Up - 12 episodes (2015)
Cheer Up! is a drama revolving around cheer-leading club in a school which focuses more on achievements based on academic scores.( they were supposed to show more about cheer-leading tho in the drama but not as much as I expected). But the plot-line was really good and since its a short drama wasn’t draggy at all. I really loved jisoo’s and eunji’s acting. The cast was what made watch this ( Eunji, Jisoo , chae soobin ) but I ended up falling for the story and the drama.. Romance is also great amost the lead while I had SLS (nvm I almost always have lol when it’s jisoo except in swdbs but hyungsik stole my heart in swdbs :p)
3. Reply 1997 - 16 episodes (2012)
I know this is old drama ‘(2012 is quite old )but if you haven’t watched it you should definitely check it out.( even all 3 series tho not all are high school related and the story is different too )Because the narrative itself is quite different compared to other kdramas. I absolutely love Eunji as shi ahn who is a fangirl of a boyband H.O.T. and Seo in guk as Yoon jae her childhood friend and his brother. About romance it had a quite a good amount and was really one satisfying drama I’ve watched… Oh and one more thing because the story is a narrative sort of the story is set in 1990′s and cinematography is also like that.. It’s quite funny too won’t tell much but do give it a try :)
4. A-TEEN - Webdrama (2018)
This is not a usual 1hr long 16 episode kdrama but rather awebdrama 10 - 12 min each of total 23 episode availiable on youtube. It dealswith how even 18 years old have problems they aren’t problem free be it inschool or anywhere else.I enjoyed their friendship more than anything.also hasa quirky romance in it.[ Btw the actress is shin ye eun ( from he ispsychometric ) ] You can give this a try whenever you have time but its reallynice one and actors are all are new but they really did their job well.
5. Moorim School - 16 episodes (2016)
If you’re up for a action romance then you should definitely watch this! It is set up in a martial art school where students learn about their true self. Overall story is good and love line was like roller-coaster ride for few times to me …
But acting wise almost everyone did their job well .. I truly like lee hyunwoo and seo ye ji ( though sometimes i felt it was off ) and hongbin also did good job almost like that character was written just for him :)
Here are few others worth mentioning tho old or new :
6. Who are you? / School 2015 - 16 episode (2015)
I had my major SLS with sungjae’s characters Every alternate year after School 2013 became successful we have school series lol so I guess we may get school 2019 this year?
7.The Heirs - 20 episodes (2013)
I personally didn’t like it but many of my friends have liked it so I added it here ( sometimes I can be the odd one in the group) Lee hongki’s soundtrack is one of my fav ost until now
8. Boys over Flowers - 25 episodes (2009)
I had felt it was waste of 25 hours watching this rather than that I would watch the original Japanese drama better… Because that’s just 10 or 12 episodes.. I specially didn’t like Jan Di’s character while I had loved that character tsukushi in original drama in japan. But as you may know this is one such drama which is almost everyone’s first drama. (PS: Gu jun pyo’s hair is so lol )
9. Playful Kiss - 16 episodes (2010)
Same like the BOF I like Japanese original better (Itazura Na kiss )
10. To the Beautiful You - 16 episodes (2012)
Again another remake from jdrama hana kimi but I really liked this adaptation when I had watched because of cuties lee hyunwoo, minho and kang haneul.. and the friendship element was portrayed quite fine. But now if I want to watch this I would rather pass nevertheless it’s a cute drama. I love the soundtracks in this drama!
Other dramas without much romance :
School 2013 ,( no romance but plot is really good lee jong suk and kim woo bin did a great job here )
Dream High and Dream High 2.
I think there are very few high school drama in Korean(maybe I have watched less) but japan has loads of them lol but you can try watching the original of boys over flowers ( hana yori dango in japan) and to the beautiful you (hana kimi). Cdrama a love so beautiful (2018) is really a cute drama too :) ]
Very recently I watched a Thriller set up in high school jdrama called 3 nen A gumi it was so freaking awesome esp the plot twist ! I wish to see some kind of dramas like that in Korea too.
Anyway this looks more like review than recommendation lol sorry for long post
Hope it helps :)

do you have any web kdrama recs? I'll do a trade and recommend Banana Actually- the whole series is 20 minutes long (at most) very good, digestible, and has some ~good~ kiss scenes.
i’ll check it out!! i do have lots of webdrama recs hehe ^^ i recommended most of them yesterday but here is a larger list of only webdramas !! it’s kinda long, so i put a keep reading !!
like- a korean webdrama that you can find on youtube starring kim yu an, kim kangmin (maybe, maybe not), yoo jungwoo (love after school), and seo ji hye- about a group of students who create a film club to make youtube videos and the dumb shit they get into, plus there’s some romance, betrayal, and fuckboys.- so so so so cute honestly. the dynamic between the characters of the club is so cute and funny, plus the love triangle has me wheezing. also the asshole fuckboy gets what he deserves which is super satisfying. it hasn’t finished airing yet, but so far it’s really cute
failing in love- korean webdrama you can find on youtube starring son sang yeon (triple fling), yang hye ji, and shin yoon seop- about a group of high schoolers who deal with falling in love, crushes, rejection, etc.- ok so the summary i gave was pretty vague but that’s because any more and i’d be exposing the whole plot. there is humor and fluff but also teenage angst, and the characters are all more complex than they first appear. i would highly recommend this show !!!
want more 19- a short webdrama you can find on youtube starring jung ha joon, sin gi hwan, jeon yoo rim, nam yoon soo, and lee jungha- a story of 5 friends in high school. A mutual crush, a one-sided love, and a rough patch for sweethearts, all taking place right around the end their senior year- OH GOD i can’t breathe this drama is so cute. it had me squealing every single episode, and it’s very lighthearted with hardly any angst
triple fling (s1)- a short choose-your-own-ending korean webdrama on youtube starring jung bomin, son sangyeon (failing in love), themanblk’s jeongyou, and themanblk’s eom sewoong- lee sehee accidentally becomes friends with the three most popular boys in school and ends up in a love square with them- alright im whipped for stuff like this so naturally i loved it. i also really liked how viewers could choose their own ending as for which boy she chose. there is a second season that i haven’t seen yet that focuses on another girl in ANOTHER love square (containing one of the guys from sehee’s love square) in which it shows which boy she actually did choose (and it was my favorite so . yay!)
when you love yourself (s1)- a short webdrama you can find on youtube starring jung mingyu (sweet revenge 2) and saet byeol .- about a girl who is heavier than her classmates who struggles with self-love and self-acceptance, and along the way finds love- god. i can’t even explain how much i loved this drama. the message is wonderful and there’s no moment where she glows up and loses weight and then gets the guy’s attention or anything: he simply loves her as who she is, no matter what weight she is, and is supportive. there’s also an episode that focuses on the queen bee girl who also struggles with weight and self-love and it’s just beautiful
my woofy poofy love / my dog-like dating- a short korean webdrama you can find on youtube starring chae ji an and kim do hoon (your imagination becomes reality)- a girl who has recently been cruelly dumped by her boyfriend brings a stray dog back to her home and wakes up to find that instead of a dog, there is a man! she happens to be looking for a roommate, and so this man (who can turn into a dog) becomes her new housemate- literally adorable. female lead is stunning and the relationship is so cute and fluffy and innocent, but the kiss is steamy as hell.
ok to be sensitive (s1)- a webdrama you can find on youtube starring kim da ye and kim youngdae (extraordinary you) and others im too lazy to put- focuses on feminist issues like sexism and sexual harassment in a college setting, which each episode focusing on one particular incident and the characters dealing with it- listen so like . this show had me emotional at some points bc of how amazing the message was. it dealt with sexual harassment, sexism, how females are expected to act, stalking, pressure to have sex… etc and basically every episode was like . you can stand up for yourself. you don’t have to “take it” just bc you’re a female, etc. also there was really cute romance uwu
ok to be sensitive (s2)- season 2 of otbs, also can be found on youtube, starring yoo hye in and lee shin young, as well as others but again im too lazy to list them all- same thing as season 1, but a different cast of main characters, and set in an office workplace. (original cast makes a cameo at the end)- the issues in season 2 were definitely a bit darker because it was set in a work place, where the main characters were worried about getting fired if they stood up for themselves, but the way things were handled was really admirable imo. also the male lead in this one is ABSOLUTELY adorable
go back diary- a 4 episode webdrama you can find on youtube starring kim ye ji and lee jong won (jaemin’s webdrama how to hate you)- about a boy who sees a girl at a karaoke bar (?) and instantly develops a crush on her. she then transfers to his school, and it tells the story of their love story after 10 years.- i’ll just say it right now. the whole drama was adorable except for the ending, which fucking sucked. literally was horrible. boycott episode 4 pls i was SO UPSET. otherwise, great webdrama
love after school (s1)- korean webdrama that can be found on youtube starring park so eun and yoo jungwoo (like)- about a couple who fell in love in high school and their story, told from 5 years later when they meet again- i love love love this bitch. LOVE. season 2 … we won’t speak of her lol. but season 1 is super cute and the ???? kiss at the end(ish)??? DEAD. literally anything with yoo jungwoo will destroy me but omg. it was fantastic
maybe, maybe not- a webdrama starring kim kangmin (like) and gong yoorim- a girl who can read minds and is an outside bc she knows what everyone is really thinking meets a guy that she can’t read the mind of- so fluffy. so cute. oh god. pls watch it’s so soft and cute
what to do with you- a korean webdrama - that is actually literally an ad for a facemask - starring lee hayoung and kim youngdae (extraordinary you)- saerom and geun are friends, but it feels like they’re something more. will they ever take the next step?- yeah this webdrama is super cute and that’s really all lol. also the bitchy girl in love after school is the best friend in this one oho
your imagination becomes reality- a webdrama that can be found on youtube starring oh se young, kim dohoon (my woofy poofy love), and jin ho eun- soram has a crush on a mysterious upperclassman, and wishes to see him again: she does, soon after. each time she makes a wish, it seems to magically come true. - yeah so like . it’s not a supernatural thing or anything, it’s just a cute college romance that’s basically every girl with a crush’s dream lol~!
crushes reverse- webdrama on youtube starring kim shi eun (miss independant jieun s2) and jung hyojun- yoo somi has a huge crush on her older sister’s longtime boyfriend, and her best friend at school happens to be his younger brother- i find the beginning hard to watch bc of the second hand embarrassment i feel when i do watch it but . it has a super cute ending and the main girl reminds me of shin hye sun so much it’s wack
how to hate you- webdrama starring nct’s jaemin, jim ji in (extraordinary you), lee jongwon (go back diary), and kim yoojin- oh miri meets her ideal type while working as a part-timer, but right before she’s about to confess, she realizes that he is her best friend’s mystery boyfriend. she asks han daekang, her new friend, to pretend to be her boyfriend for the time being. - the summary i gave was terrible but ITS RLY CUTE . also the main girl in this plays dan oh’s best friend / juda’s bully in extraordinary you and THE CHARACTERS ARE SO INCREDIBLY DIFFERENT DUDE . Legend. anyways its a bit cliche and we dont get any actual lip on lip action but its still cute lol
have a nice dessert! / drunk in good taste- drama special / webdrama starring kim hyanggi (sweet revenge 1; moment at 18) and kim mingyu (just between lovers ((as the crippled best friend’s anti fan turned romantic interest)))- chongnam loves desserts, and even has an instagram dedicated to taking photos of various deserts she eats. when her college life starts, she mistakes a classmate as an upperclassman, only to find out they’re the same age, and they become friends- listen . this shit was adorable. as when every single kim hyanggi drama, the kisses are cardboard flat and terrible but ! BUT ! the couple is super cute
a-teen (s1 & s2)- 2 season webdrama starring april’s naeun, shin yeeun (he is psychometric), shin seungho, kim donghee, kim soohyun, and ryu euihyun- about a group of friends who go through various troubles and grow closer as a group, as well as fall in love- ok so ... technically i haven’t even finished season 1 yet but !!! i know it’s a good show bc i did watch a lot of it !! plus in s1 episode 20 at 10:35 there’s a nomin cameo LOL SJKFSD there’s also a webdrama called “the guilty secret” i haven’t watched yet starring victon’s subin and others that is set at the same school as a-teen 1 and 2 and features the original cast in cameos !!
i have 3 boyfriends / boyfri3nds- short webdrama you can find on youtube starring kim ji eun, park sungwoo (produce 101 season 2 [that 30 year old dude who danced to rain’s song OMG], moon jihoo, and lee jungsik- when la hi gets in a car accident and wakes up with amnesia she finds that she has 3 men all claiming to be her boyfriend.- OK LISTEN . this show is so funny and cute. let me just say: you MUST watch to the end. that’s all i’ll say. pLS WATCH
lily fever- a short webdrama starring kim hyeyoon (just between lovers) and jung yeonjoo (witch’s romance)- kyungju needs her passport back, which her ex boyfriend has, but it turns out he left it at a friend’s place. when she arrives, the friend is leaving but says she can go inside: just be mindful of the houseguest inside...- yeah this is lesbian as fuck . it has like . hardly any plot, has a shit ton of crackheadery, and lots of STEAMY AS FUCK kisses. it literally makes like no sense though skdfksjd but if ur in the mood for some easy to watch girl pairing stuff, this is it my dude !

since i enjoyed your last recommendation list, I want to know your favorite Kyungsoo movies/dramas
So, I’m gonna rec the work Kyungsoo was in based on my personal opinion and experience. I won’t add “It’s Okay That’s love” and “Hello Monster” since he had supporter roles (but keep in mind it’s okay that’s love is a masterpiece and I loved Kyungsoo’s characterization in Hello Monster). I will try to focus my reasons not just on his role but on the plot and other characters as well :)
Drama/Web Drama
EXO Next Door: I still can’t believe it exists... I remember I watched it at the same period it was released and I felt a mix of emotions. It was an OC fanfic as a live action with both the clichés related with straight couples as well as the bromance (Sehun/Baekhyun and Sehun/OC’s sister). I still think that maybe it would have worked out better with other characters instead of Chanyeol and Kyungsoo. They did a regular job on their roles, but maybe exchanging Chanyeol for Jongin and Kyungsoo for Baekhyun, maybe, could just fit better idk. But there are moments in it I still remember and it’s fun, somehow (that moment Jongin tries to make Kyungsoo jealous with the girl is priceless lol);
Positive Physique: a light webdrama. Before this role, Kyungsoo portraited mostly damage/broken characters but in this he has humor and it’s not forced. It’s short in episodes and duration and it’s lovely in general (now I want to watch it again, help me);
100 Days of my Husband: again, I don’t like this drama only because of Kyungsoo and the romantic parts (although they fit the drama purpose), but the plot is nice, the characters are good, even the villains, the fight for the throne. It’s not a flawless story by any means. I still think the final chapter was terrible after the first 15/20 minutes and there are some questionable script choices. But it entertains, Kyungsoo showed a serious side of himself AND hilarious with Woon Deuk, carrying drama and humor when needed.
Movies
Hyung: Sorry no sorry, but I dislike this movie so much. Not so much because of the characters, but they went to one sort of path and drastically changed it towards the end. It’s what generally happens in korean movies, but Jo Jung Suk character was so annoying (literally) and I had no sympathy for him with the progression of the story. Even during moments that were supposed to be deep it was just off. I liked Jung Suk and Kyungsoo’s dynamics more in behind the scenes cuts and the places they went to show the movie tbh.
All Along the Gods released so far: Kyungsoo as Private Won was nice in both movie (although in the second he appeared for less than 5 minutes. I’m surprised they actually could fit him in the story tho). Since it’s based on a manhwa I read some of it first and the source material is cohesive and well structured. But I didn’t feel that with the movies. In the first movie the main character was annoying and in the second they could have embraced his brother, but since they used the trials dynamics on the first movie they put a weird side story to make it last 1h30. I’m still excited for the third one, so I can see Kyungsoo as the main character. I just hope the screenwriter won’t make a poor story of it;
Cart: Angst!Soo. Aside from that, the story is based on real life events, so there’s more weight in it (on it’s message). It ends bringing reflections about working conditions and how can we face hard times in our lives and between the family’s finances. It was his first movie, but I loved how he just didn’t look like an idol at all. He add points in terms of balancing the cast so you can immerse on the story and not think it’s Exo’s Kyungsoo in it;
Room n 7: An interesting plot with interesting characters. and it was so amusing to see Kyungsoo’s character interacting with that universe (a person with tattoos, hiding drugs, smoking) and dealing with all the secrets around the place.
Unfforgettable: It was a story of companionship and friendship right there. Once again, Kyungsoo could fit into the role, not being much different from the other actors and mostly of Sohyun. It was really pure and made me cry ngl;
Swing Kids: of course, what else? I like to read about North Korea a lot, so see a movie portraited in that universe (with a lot of nationalities such as chinese people, south koreans, north koreans and even americans with tap dance) was so nice. It has a similar path as hyung, but it didn’t feel annoying or forced. Couldn’t imagine ending in another way tbh. Cried a lot as well. But it was worthy the experience.
I didn’t put Underdog because I didn’t watch it and idk if I will. I saw the trailer has some sad parts involving animals, so I prefer to keep distant from this one until I at least can assure the ending is not bad. But yeah, that’s it :D

As someone else who is also in love with Xiao Zhan in guzhuang, do you have any recs for this other than The Untamed? I have a mighty need.
The first (and only) show I saw Xiao Zhan in was when he played the second male lead in Oh My Emperor (link is to maplestage, i’m unsure if it ever got picked up for subs). Pretty light and funny show, if a little........weird towards the end (it’s a time travel webdrama and uh let’s just say keep your expectations low when it comes to plot), but the characters are fun!
XZ plays Beitang Moran, the lead’s possibly (?) evil imperial uncle, and he looks A+++ in it too tbh.
#honestly beitang moran kept me watching this show#i was ready to bolt when it got weird but this face!!!!!#xiao zhan#asks#Anonymous
