Cacoa passed away this afternoon, in her favorite box, in our living room. We will be taking her to the vet tomorrow for an autopsy and cremation. I have no idea how to cope.

She's gone. My child is gone. My constant companion of 18 years is gone. On the two year anniversary of Jasper's death.

I've always liked Rose Quartz than... say... Lapis. Lapis barely ever got called out for her actions.

Lapis was my favorite character, in that she was nearly Bojack Horseman-ish in her "does shitty things but is aware of her shittiness and wants to be better but trauma can't be easily overcome" characterization. But it's true that the narrative is tinted through Steven's friendship lenses. Even after Lapis admitted that she was the one who abused Jasper because she liked taking her anger out on her, Steven still sees her as the victim to be protected by mean Jasper. And sure, he's naive, it's part of her character, but ehh her arc was basically rotting in the barn until shit happened and whoops I'm a Crystal Gem now! Okay.

It says something that for years, people saw her act of trapping Jasper in Malachite as an act of sacrifice to protect Steven, and not as the action of a prisoner who snapped and wanted a taste of being the jailer for once. Even though she literally said "I'm done with being everyone's prisoner! Now you're my prisoner, and I'm never letting you go!"

Also, I am still very bitter about the Lapidot teasing that went fucking nowhere after Lapis deadass stole Peridot's whole house 🙃

Hi. Fellow Christians, of any denomination. You're allowed to struggle w the fact that large groups of people do not like Christians on principle. You're allowed to feel uncomfy if you overhear people talking abt how all Christians are whatever. But you can't just ignore that Christianity has been repeatedly and is still being weaponized against marginalized groups of people. To be Christian is to accept that your beliefs have hurt people and respect that some people will look down on you for being Christian bc of that. That doesn't make the people who dislike Christians inherently bad.
