1st version of a prologue of a novel idea I am putting together
Please let me know what you think! I am open to constructive critisicm.
October 10th, 2000
Celine Dubois. She was a detective from France, and Mama's friend; she was 26 at the time. When she came to our town to hear about the disappearances, it was a wake up call to this place that this wasn’t an ordinary situation.
“Tell me about your little sister, Henry” She asked me softly, in a thick French accent. “What happened the night she disappeared?”
I looked at the grass, every memory, down to the scents of the fresh cut grass and the baseball field, came rushing back. “I was waiting my turn to pitch in the game,” I started, twiddling my fingers together. “I watched her playing near the woods. I took my eyes off her for one second… and she was gone. She wasn’t by Mama. Then I heard Mama scream Sally's name. Everyone stopped, and we all… just knew. Sally was taken into the woods.”
Celine gave me a sympathetic look. “I’m sure that is hard for you. You’re so young. How are you feeling?”
She was right. I was only 10 years old at the time. At the thought that Sally was missing, hurt or dead, made the tears from yesterday come back in an instant. I couldn’t hold them back.
Celine gave me a hug, and I only cried harder. I could feel her expensive French jacket absorb all the tears I let out. Soon enough I maintained the tears and sat upright again, adjusting my glasses. “I understand,” was all Celine said.
August 27th, 2006
School was awkward for the next 2 years. I was stared at by everyone as I walked down the hall. They treated me like I was Grandma’s vase, like if you poke me the wrong way, I’ll shatter. By the time I was 12, it was gonna make me break more than Sally’s disappearance at this point.
I had no friends until mid-high school, when finally Sally’s disappearance was declared a cold case. My sophomore year, I met Mudvirce. He was actually the daughter of Celine, but he was born and raised here in America. I learned that his name is actually Michael, but he went by Mudvirce because he hated his name; his hair was long, black, and silky, down to his lower back. He was a fellow outcast, along with his sister, Michelle. She had black wavy hair down to her shoulders, and dark brown eyes, just like her brother. She and Mudvirce played in a local metal band; they played in a few basements every weekend. Mudvirce was on bass, Michelle was on drums. I was the opposite of them. I was the art kid, the writer kid, the nerd. I liked to stay home and write and draw at my desk. My room and my clothes looked vintage-esque. But that didn’t stop me, Mudvirce and Michelle from being friends. “Weirdos of any kind need to stick together. We’re all what we really have,” was what Mudvirce told me.
I met Marcus that year as well. He was a very eccentric character: his hair was dyed bright pink and down to his shoulders; and all his shirts were explosions of neon colors on black; he was loud, but not obnoxious; he loved video games and music. He and I, despite not liking the genre, always go to Mudvirce and Michelle’s gigs.
With friends comes enemies as well. Stacienna McRowell was some girl Michelle secretly dated back in 8th grade. They broke up last year, and Stacienna swore to make Michelle’s life a living hell. She made enemies with my friend, she made enemies with me.
Staciella’s boyfriend, Jaxon, is a piece of work, too. He’s like a puppy dog, following Staciella around and doing everything she says. He never knew of his girlfriend’s and Michelle’s relationship, but she doesn’t like her, so neither does he. He’s a clear enabler of her actions and shows no sign of stopping.
This junior year will be the first year in 6 years that I start with new friends, fun experiences, and a secure sense of happiness, and there is nothing now that can take that away from me. Right?

Hey!! Any updates on WIAFA?
BTW,How are you doing these days? I hope you fine and healthy💗🌸
Love your fics🌼👾 and Take care hun💖🫂
Hey nonnie!!
I'm so glad you are loving the story and I wish I could tell you it was almost ready, but it's not. I'm sorry!! The last time I had google docs open was when I posted those spoilers unfortunately. It's taken me a week to get enough time to get a load of laundry washed and dried. We are at the very crazy part of the month right now.
Last week I didn't have a closing manager and I was working my own normal hours plus their shifts. The only day I was home before 9pm was Monday, and that's because I'm closed and it's my errand catch up day. My cousin's wedding reception was last Saturday. Last Friday and this Friday we have football concessions. Those days it's after 11 before I get back home. My dogs want my attention when I get home. When I finally sit down Brandy is right across my lap and doesn't like the computer on top of her.
Next Saturday is my brother's wedding, and we're hosting the rehearsal dinner at the bar we took over beginning of the year. So my dad has been crazy about us getting that all finished up. I'm doing a reading, and haven't even practiced that, or broken in the dress shoes. But I did finally get my dress altered.
My grandma has some memory issues, they think might be the onset of dementia or Alzheimer's. They put her on a new medication a little over a week ago. It's not going well. She has been getting super shaky and upset, and she has some bad pain in her shoulder. Yesterday, dad had me leave work to take her some pain cream after I had stuff set up and before lunch rush. I got to her house and she's walking down the hallway holding a tissue box in one hand full of bloody kleenex and a kleenex in the other with a black eye and blood coming out of her eye lid. It was not a quick trip over, and I ended up there 3 times. My grandpa built that house, and she swears she isn't moving out of it and into a care home.
Today I woke up feeling like crap, but the doctor says it isn't strep (at least not yet)and my night manager called in, so I got to work open to close again.
This is probably much longer answer than you wanted, for me to say, no I'm sorry I have not had an opportunity to get back to writing. Thank you for listening to me vent.
Maybe I can get a little bit of time on Monday, but then I won't have any more time until after the wedding.
Thank you for your interest in the story!! I hope you are having a great week Take care yourself!! I hope I can get back to it soon💗💗

Saturday diary
Today has been interesting because even though I woke up earlier than I was expecting, and I basically did my everyday morning routine except I finally managed to pull myself out of my slump and do yoga (which felt amazing), I still feel like the day flew by too fast. In the sense that it's almost 6pm but it feels like it should be around 3. But I feel good about the stuff I managed to complete this morning and yesterday evening. It's not much, just mundane stuff like doing laundry or buying essential groceries/home items, and prioritizing my routine over idk other activities. But it still makes me feel satisfied. I phoned my grandma and we talked for hours again, she told me about our dog and our neighbors, the food she's been cooking, pickle recipes, and how my mom used to be fluent in Russian. I just love talking to her on the phone for hours until we both get tired, I really keep all of our phone conversations like little charms in my memory. Thanks to her I remembered a dream I had last week, about my aunt, that I had forgotten and couldn't write down in my dream diary. I've been thinking about going to visit her and spend maybe a week or so there, like I did last year. But last year my stay was a bit scuffed because of my ID replacement and the construction workers. This year I'm all set ID-wise, the house exterior is completely done and beautiful, and I could both work there and enjoy my stay. But I think my mom would want to see me soon, since I promised I'd visit soon, and she hasn't seen me in almost a year. Idk I'm conflicted, my grandma advised me to visit mom first, but my parents are still working on their new house, and I don't want to pop by at a stressful time. Plus I don't want to use up all of my paid leave for this year. But anyway, that's something to ponder but not dwell too much on, because it's already mid-September, and regardless of the destination I choose I don't want the cold fall weather to catch up to me. One of our friends is already in the process of moving to another city. It was such an impulsive decision, his workplace transferred him to that city, he might already have a roommate, and so all that's left for him is to adapt his life to a new environment. Crazy stuff, but good for him, and I'm gonna miss him. We got news today that a mutual friend of our group took his own life this morning at 4, and we've just been quiet and crushed. My friend who grew up with him was devastated. I actually met the guy through him when they were living together, right before the pandemic. And then he got a job at a local pub, and we went there last year, when my friend moved here. He seemed really good at his job, and serious about it. I didn't ever get to know him much, and I just can't stop wondering why he felt like his life had run its course. He was on a college trip, as far as I understood, as an archeology student. He even posted pics from the trip. And then they found him lifeless this morning. I froze in place when my bf texted me, and we had a discord call and everyone was speechless. Couldn't stop thinking what it must feel like to hear this about your childhood friend, who you were in contact with, hung out with not long ago, and everything. My friend sounded like he'd been crying quietly, and he had no words to talk. It feels like there's this hole now that needs to be filled, but we can't, there's nothing for anyone to fill it with. Like, his name and the memory of him just feels tender like after an electric shock, and I barely ever saw the guy. I can only imagine how heavy and crushing it must feel for those who knew him closely and loved him. And I hope we'll be able to help our friend manage his grief.
Meanwhile, we've lived another Saturday, and I've been thinking about going for a long walk, but there's rain on the horizon. Still, I feel the need to explore the city and people-watch. Yesterday evening the walk in the rain to the grocery store as it got dark put me in such a good mood.

In Case You Don’t Live Forever
~chapter five rewritten~
Pairing: Peter Parker x Venom!reader
Synopsis: you are Peters greatest love and Spider-Man’s greatest enemy
Series Masterlist
Tumblr media
“Why are you in such a mood?” Ned asked his best friend as they walked to their college campus. Peter had been grumpy all morning and Ned was quick to notice. He usually showed up at Ned’s door exhausted but eager to share the adventures from the night before, but he seemed defeated today.
“I got my ass beat last night.” Peter grumbled as he shouldered his backpack.
“By who?” Ned wondered.
“I don’t even know.” Peter sighed. “I think it was some kind of alien.”
“What’d it look like?” Ned asked. It wasn’t uncommon for Ned to ask a million questions after being told something Spider-Man related. After all, he was the guy in the chair.
“Like nothing I’ve ever seen before.” Peter said swallowed and tried to push the previous night from his mind. He’d rather focus on this morning, and the moment he had shared with you. Peter felt such a strong connection to you, and he would’ve stayed on that rooftop all day if he could.
“Describe it to me.” Ned pleaded, tearing Peter from his thoughts.
“I don’t know. It was like eight feet tall, black, and bald. And it was super veiny.” Peter grimaced while Ned’s eyes widened.
“Oh my God. You fought Shaquille O’Neal?” Ned gasped.
“Keep your voice down. I did not fight Shaquille O’Neal.” Peter whispered harshly. Ned always seemed one step away from blowing Peters cover. Peter gave bashful smiles to the passing students who gave him weird looks upon hearing Ned’s words.
“Terry Crews?” Ned continued. Peter rolled his eyes at his best friend and starting walking to class.
“No. This is serious.” Peter said, his voice heavy with annoyance.
“I know it’s serious. You got beat up by The Rock.” Ned remarked. Peter fidgeted with the strings on his backpack, still bothered knowing he was beaten so easily by Venom.
“The Rock is Samoan, not black.” Peter corrected.
“I know. But I heard “bald” and I just automatically envisioned The Rock.” Ned defended.
“There’s another thing. It had this huge, gaping mouth with rows and rows of teeth. I keep thinking about it.” Peter shivered. “It came so close to me. And its tongue was super long. It was like a cracked out frog.”
“So a ninja turtle? You got beat up by a ninja turtle?” Ned gawked.
“It wasn’t a ninja turtle.” Peter snapped. “ It was black, remember?”
“So an emo ninja turtle.” Ned deadpanned.
“It kept saying “we”. “ Peter remembered.
“What do you mean?”
“There was only one of them, but they only referred to themself as “we” as if there were multiple of them.” Peter explained.
“Do you think there could be more? Like an alien army or something?” Ned asked incredulously. Peter hadn’t even thought about that.
“Maybe. I remember something else, it’s name was Venom.” Peter recalled. He distinctly remembered those words coming out of the creatures mouth.
“Venom?” Ned repeated, clearly finding it cool.
“Yeah. And I told it my name. I used my regular voice too.” Peter realized. He usually disguised his voice when speaking, but he had been so scared that he forgot to. It haunted him knowing the creature now knew who he was and he wondered if it knew both of his identities.
“Wow. This is so cool. Not cool for you, because you might die. But this is super cool for me.” Ned smiled as he envisioned what Venom might look like.
“Thanks, ned. Actually, wait.” Peter stopped in his tracks. “One more thing happened.”
“What?” Ned whispered as they approached their class.
“Venom was about to eat me but then it started talking to itself. It sounded maybe like it was having a conversation with someone? I’m not sure, I could only hear one side of it.” Peter explained. “It put me down, well it threw me down, and let me go. But before it left, it said something about a girl. I don’t really remember. I was too focused on catching my breath.”
“Catching your breath? Were you running?”
“No. It choked me.” Peter told him as he lightly touched his neck.
“Kinky.” Ned smirked as he took a seat next to Peter in their class.
“That’s gross.” Peter stifled a laugh. “Did I tell you about this morning with Y/N?”
“No. Tell me.” Ned said. He wasn’t disappointed in the change of topic. He was glad Peter had moved on on from Liz, finally. Peter recounted the discussion he had with you that morning, barely getting through it without blushing and laughing at certain parts.
“I really like her, Ned. More than I’ve ever liked anyone. She’s so amazing. I barely know her, but I can tell already. I want to know everything about her. I want to hear her full story. And most of all, I want to be a part of that story.” Peter declared but frowned suddenly.
“What’s wrong?” Ned asked.
“After our talk, we just kinda sat there staring at each other for a while.” Peter began. “She kinda leaned in, and I did too, but then this seagull flew by and scared us half to death. We laughed about it but the moment was gone.”
“So you almost kissed her?” Ned smiled. “Why is that upsetting you?”
“Because what if that was our chance and I blew it?” Peter feared. “What if that seagull was a sign from above that I was in way over my head? Like God was asking me who I was to think I could just kiss the most perfect girl in the world? She’s so cool, Ned. Way too cool for me. She’s already had a boyfriend and I’ve never even kissed anyone.”
“If it’s meant to happen, it will happen.” Ned assured him.
“Or, the same thing that happened with Liz will happen.” Peter argued. “I won’t tell her how I feel and then she’ll be gone forever.”
“Then don’t let that happen.” Ned reasoned. “Tell Y/N how you feel. Do it tonight, before you go on patrol. And if she doesn’t feel the same, then at least you’ll know. Isn’t it better to know?”
“When did you become such a love expert?” Peter teased as the professor walked into the room.
“Since I started dating Betty. She’s opened my eyes to what love really is.” Ned shrugged. “Tell her tonight. Then tell me how it goes. I’m here for you either way.”
Peter nodded and gave Ned a thankful smile before turning his attention to the professor.
On his walk home from campus, Peter spotted you walking down the sideways. Ned’s words of encouragement rang in his ears and he made a brash decision.
“Hey, Y/N, wait up!” Peter called after you, making you turn around.
“Hey Parker. How was kindergarten?” You teased him.
“Alright alright. Majoring in chemical engineering is hardly kindergarten. And I’m only one year younger than you.” Peter reminded you. “I don’t want you to have a heart attack on me, grandma.”
“Watch it, sonny.” You kept with the joke. “I’ll hit you with my purse and then say something mildly racist.”
“Just like my grandma.” Peter laughed in amusement. “We’re gross. And not funny.”
“We really are.” You scrunched your nose. “Couple of gross ass orphans.”
Peter laughed again, feeling comfortable enough with you to joke about a tragic situation.
“Look, Y/N, I really enjoyed our talk this morning. I really enjoyed all our talks so far actually. I guess I just like talking to you. ” Peter began. He looked nervous all the sudden, like he lost his stamina. You raised your eyebrows hopefully, as there were only so many ways this conversation could go.
“I like talking to you too, Peter.” You said honestly, hoping he’d continue. Hoping he’d ask that question. Your answer seemed to give Peter the confidence he needed to go on.
“Really? Um, that’s great cause I really like talking to you too. I already said that. Oh god. I’m crashing. I-“ he began to flail and you calmed him down by taking a few steps closer. You were almost touching at that point. He stopped talking immediately and looked at you with wide eyes.
“Is there someone you wanted to ask me, Peter?” You asked slowly as you looked at him through your eyelashes.
Damn. He was tall too.
“Yes, actually. I, um, will you…would you maybe want to-“
“Hiya kids!” A gravely voice came from the front stairs of your apartment, completely cutting Peter off. Peter looked up and angrily rolled his eyes.
“Don’t look now. It’s Henry.” Peter grumbled. Henry was the creepy neighbor with the foot fetish.
“Oh Dear God.” Peter said in a low voice.
“What?” You panicked when you saw Peters expression change.
“You’re wearing flip flops.” He pointed at your black painted toes and you felt the color drain from your face.
“Run!” He whispered harshly. You bolted into your apartment and Peter ran into his. Once inside, Peter blew out an angry breath. He had been interrupted twice in one day when trying to talk to you, and he worried that it was a sign.
Back at the apartment, you sat on your bed with headphones in. You were prepping for your interview with Cletus Kasady by writing down some questions you wanted to ask him. It was hard figuring out what to ask a serial killer. You looked at your notepad and sighed. All you had written down was “but why tho?” in sloppy handwriting. You tore out the page, crumbled it up, and threw it at the trash can. When you went to write something else down, you noticed the paper ball still stuck to your hand. You shook your hand but it still wouldn’t come off.
“What the hell?” You grumbled as you shook your hand.
“Oh. This might be our fault.” Venom said suddenly.
“What might be your fault?” You asked as you continued to shake the paper off your hand, but to no avail.
“We sort of went inside Spider-Man when we were talking to him yesterday.” Venom said timidly and the paper ball dropped from your hand.
“What?” You demanded and Venom went silent.
“Come out here.” You said, like an owner to a dog.
“We’d rather stay inside.” Venom said softly.
“Get out here now. You need to explain yourself young lady.” You said sternly. Venom slowly manifested and looked at you with sad eyes.
“I’m 600 million years old, by the way.” Venom added. “You can’t call me young lady.”
“What do you mean you went inside Spider-Man?” You ignored her comment.
“When we were choking him we put one of our tendrils inside him and swirled around.” Venom explained. “He didn’t even feel it. We did though. He’s very squishy on the inside.”
“You…what?” You didn’t even know where to start. “How does that explain the paper sticking to me?”
“We think we absorbed his powers.” Venom said. “We used to watch videos of him on YouTube after you went to bed. He can stick to walls and stuff. We think that’s why the paper ball stuck to you.”
“Since when can we absorb powers?” You wondered as you looked at your hands.
“We never had a host before. We don’t really know how it works.” Venom reminded you. “But back on Klyntar, our home planet, the Grandmaster used to tell us we could absorb the powers of superhuman beings. Judging by your newfound stickiness, we think it worked.”
“What else can Spider-Man do?” You asked. “Since you’re such a big fan.”
“He can shoot webs out of his wrists. And he can return lost dogs.” Venom answered, sounding a little annoyed.
“Do you have something against Spider-Man?” You chuckled a little at her tone.
“We hate what he did last night. He thought we were the bad guy, and he let the real bad guy get away. He judged us before he had the full story. We’re not a bad guy.” Venom defended. You were surprised to hear how passionate she was about this and gave her a soft smile.
“Let’s not worry about Spider-Man right now. I want to test out our new abilities. Let’s rock and roll, baby.” You cheered, complete with rock and roll hands. The second you touched your middle finger and ring finger to your palm, a black, web-like tendril shot out from your wrist and stuck to the ceiling. You stared at the web with a gaping mouth, weakly shaking your wrist to see if it would stay attached.
It did.
“Maybe that’s one of our new abilities.” Venom said. You looked back and forth between her and the gooey web coming out of your wrist.
“Oh my God! What’s happening?” You screamed. You took your fingers off your palm and the web retracted back into your wrist. Looking at your wrist incredulously, you made the rock and roll hand again and the same web shot out from your wrist. This time, it grabbed the ceiling fan.
“V-Venom?” You asked. You didn’t know what to say.
“Try to aim it at something.” She suggested. You aimed your wrist and the lamp across the room and touched your fingers to your palm. The black web shot across the room and grabbed onto the lamp. You quickly yanked your arm back to pull the lamp towards yourself. The lamp flew across the room, smashed you in the face, and left you with a bloody nose.
“Ow.” You cried, gingerly touching your nose.
“We see this as a absolutely win.” Venom cheered. You shot her a look and went to get cleaned up.
After about a week of practice, and very little work on your questions for Cletus, you had a better handle on your webbing ability. Of course, the week also consisted of long talks with Peter on the roof, late patrols of New York, the occasional run in with a criminal, late night FaceTime calls with Peter, and beating the shit out of Spider-Man, twice. Venom eventually grew bored of using the new powers around the house, so it was time for the final test.
You stood at the rooftop ledge and looked down, talking a deep breath to calm your nerves.
“It’s a long way down.” You commented.
“Yep.” Venom replied in your head.
“We could die.” You added.
“Yep.”
“Ready?”
“We’re ready.” Venom grinned as you transformed. You stepped off the ledge and fell freely for a while, screaming the whole way down.
“Stop being a little bitch! Shoot a web!” Venom yelled. You aimed a web at a building and began to swing. You were too close to the ground and ended up knocking over a bunch of tables at an outdoor restaurant. People ran away in fear while others took out their cameras and recorded.
“We’re not here to hurt you! Peace and love!” Venom shouted as you continued to swing through the steers of New York. People began to cheer upon hearing your words.
“Do you hear that, Y/N? People are cheering. They love us.” Venom said happily.
“I love us too.” You replied. You were even happier than she was. You knew how much it hurt Venom to be seen as a monster, it was why she hated being called a parasite. You also knew it was why she hated Spider-Man. He was praised for stopping bad guys while Venom was seen as one of the bad guys he needed to stop.
“Hey, what is that thing?” A man called from the street. Venom stopped swinging and landed on the street. You proudly turned to the crowd of people, a massive grin on your face. There it was, our favorite question.
“We…are Venom.” Venom growled. People took pictures and videos of you from a distance.
“You can come closer. We won’t hurt you.” Venom assured the crowd.
“Are you like the anti Spider-Man?” Someone asked.
“Spider-Man is a joke. He can’t protect this city like we can. We are no Spider-Man. We are Venom.” Venom roared. A few people took a step back and you began to feel uneasy.
“Hey, King Kong. I want a word with you.” A sassy voice quipped from the crowd. A man in yellow sunglasses and a suit stepped forward, and you bet your ass you recognized him.
“My name is Tony Stark. Heard of me? Of course you have. Would you mind coming back to my tower with me?” He asked, but it felt more like a demand. The people in the crowd slowly dispersed and soon, you stood there alone with Tony.
“Be nice. Say yes.” You told Venom.
“Who is this guy?” She asked out loud.
“I just said my name. Tony said, slightly annoyed.
“He’s a really famous inventor. I’ll explain later. Just follow him please.” You begged. Venom gave Tony a once over and followed him to a limo.
“Yea, you’re gonna ride up top big guy.” Tony said, patting the roof of the car.
“Girl.” Venom growled. Tony looked surprised.
“My apologies ma’am.” He raised surprised eyebrows. You rode on top of his car all the way to his tower, wondering what he could possibly want with you.
The inside of his tower was huge. Tony lead you to a lab that was bigger than yours and Peters apartments combined.
“I’ve seen videos of you on YouTube. Seems like you and Spider-Man aren’t the best of friends.” Tony remarked as he pulled out an iPad.
“We will crush his bones and snort them like cocaine.” Venom growled. Tony was just as surprised to hear that as you were.
“Now that’s a visual.” Tony smirked. “I’ll have you know, Spider-Man is a friend of mine. He’s not your biggest fan either but from what I’ve seen, you’ve done this city some good since you’ve been here. How long has that been?”
“Two weeks.” Venom answered.
“I thought so. I’d never seen you before then. And since your arrival, petty crime has dropped significantly in Queens. Criminals are too scared of getting eaten to do anything. Don’t get me wrong, I love Spider-Man and I’ll kill you if you tell him that, but no one fears him. He gets the job done, but there’s always another job to do. With you, on the other hand, your mere presence is preventing crime before it even happens.” Tony smiled to himself, like he was just given a new toy. “You’re scary, is what I’m trying to say. But you’re a good guy. It’s rare. I want it to stay that way. I want you on my team.”
“Team?”
“We’re called the Avengers. We had a bit of a falling out but the name still stands.” Tony waved his hand. “We fight bad guys together. Really, really bad guys. I think you could us some good. Plus, you’ll be taken care of for life and we’ll only call you in for serious threats. But I need a few things from you first.”
“Like what?”
“Your story.” He pointed a finger at you. “How does a giant, anthropomorphic alien wind up in New York City?”
“It’s a long story.” Venom answered.
“We can trust this man, Venom.” You told her telepathically. “I’m gonna come out okay?” Venom hesitated and Tony looked impatient to know more.
“Are you sure?” She asked you. Tony looked confused.
“Am I sure?” He pointed to himself.
“Not you.” She said. Tony looked around for who else Venom could be talking to and found no one.
“I’m sure.” You decided. “This guy is one of the good guys. We can trust him. I promise. I’m coming out.”
You slowly transformed back into yourself in front of Tonys wide eyes. Venom stayed in her snake-like form and rested on your neck.
“Hello, Mr. Stark. My name is Y/N L/N.” You shyly introduced yourself. “This is Venom. We want to help.”
Tony’s face shifted from shocked to impressed as he looked you over.
“I gotta say, I did not except someone like you to be inside that scary monster.” Tony chuckled.
“We’re not a monster, Mr. Stark. We want to help people.” You reminded him.
“I can see that.” Tony nodded. “That’s why I’ve been developing you a suit.”
“When did you do that?” You wondered. “We just met.”
“Oh, I know. I’ve been designing it while you talked. I want you to have it incase you and Venom get separated. That way, you’ll be protected until you’re back together.” Tony explained as he showed you his ipad. Sure enough, it had a drawing of a suit on it.
“I’ll get started right away. I just need a little piece of Venom. If I make the suit using her skin, you’ll have the total protection you need.” You looked at Venom for consent, who nodded and extended a tendril towards Tony. He quickly snipped a piece off and put it in a container.
“When will the suit be ready? A few months?” You asked as Tony tapped the container. Tony stopped looking at the container and laughed.
“Y/N, I’m a genius inventor. Go get lunch. It’ll be ready when you’re done.” He said.
And he wasn’t kidding. An hour and a half later, Tony presented you with a suit. You ran my fingers over it slowly, not wanted to disturb a single thing. You looked at it in awe, completely speechless at what he had created.
“Go on, try it on.” He shrugged casually. You grinned from ear to ear before rushing to the bathroom to put it on. You came out soon enough with tears in you eyes.
“You like it?” Tony asked. You looked at your covered hands in amazement. The suit was jet black, like Venom was, and hugged your body like a second skin. There was a big white spider symbol on the front, the complete opposite of Spider-Mans small black one. You figured it was a nod to being called the anti Spider-Man and it was perfect.
“Well?” Tony was still waiting for an answer. You looked up at him just as a few tears fell down you cheeks.
“We didn’t celebrate my birthday growing up because it was the anniversary of my moms death. I used to be so upset every year.” You blurted. Tony looked like he didn’t know what to say and you couldn’t blame him. That was something deeply personal and you had only just met him.
“What I’m trying to say is, I get it now.” You explained. “All those missed birthdays were for a reason. I didn’t get gifts those days because I’m getting the ultimate gift right now. This is the most amazing thing I could’ve asked for. I cannot thank you enough Mr. Stark. I’ll never take it off.”
“You can’t take it off anyway.” Tony told you. “When you don’t want to wear it, it absorbs back into your skin like Venom does. And it’s equipped with Venoms essential abilities. It’s bullet proof, knife proof, taser proof, spork proof and so on. And you can still shoot your webby things. You just won’t have super strength, super speed, or that Venus flytrap mouth of yours.”
You tested it out and shot a web towards his desk. You grabbed a pen and caught it with ease, then looked at Tony for approval.
“That’s the best I could do. It’s no Iron Man suit but it’ll suffice.” Tony said casually. You couldn’t take it anymore and rushed towards him to hug him tightly.
“Thank you.” You said into his chest. Tony patted your back awkwardly and you let go.
“It’s nothing. You can thank me by not eating Spider-Man. I know he’s annoying but he doesn’t mean any harm. Now go forth and do good.” Tony requested.
You swung back to the apartment and landed on the roof. You turned back into yourself and made your way down the steps to your floor. After this mornings conversation with Peter and the incredible suit from Mr. Stark, you were having a great day. For the first time in years, you couldn’t wait for tomorrow.

Chapter Nine
“Is there anything you want for breakfast?” You asked Rin as you looked through your closet. He was laying back in bed under the covers, typical Rin. “No don’t bother making anything. I wanna treat you guys to breakfast.” He rubbed his eyes and you turned. “You don’t have to.” You immediately told him. “No i want to.” He assured and you smiled lightly. “Alright thank you.” You said softly and you grabbed your black overall skirt, white long sleeve and your favorite leggings.
“If you want you can wake up the kids.” You said before heading into the bathroom. He sat up and groaned and slowly made his way to their room. He opened the door and saw the two little foxes slide something under the bed. He tilted his head confused and they innocently looked up at him. “Good morning daddy.” They recited which honestly gave him the chills. Twins who could recite things at the same time are creepy. “Good morning. Now what were you guys hiding just now?” He asked with a raised brow. “Nothing—“ Akira innocently smiled. Even though these kids looked like Rin, they certainly had Y/N’s expressions. And that adorable smile that Suna has missed.
“You guys already know that lying is bad. Show me what you’re hiding?” He asked and sat on the floor across from them. Rini guiltily frowned and he reached under the bed to retrieve a box. It was an old shoe box. “A box? What? is it just an animal or something?” Rin asked and the kids shook their heads. Akira handed him the box and he opened it. The first thing he saw was a Polaroid of you and him. He felt a slap across his face. You smiled so bright and Rin had his deadpanned face like always. The photo behind the Polaroid was with you in between the twins. They were using your shoulders as an arm rest, each photo made his stomach turn and he saw napkins and tickets, you always wrote the date and a little heart with a note when Rin would take you to places.
“You and mommy looked so happy. Why did you guys leave eachother. I don’t get it.” Akira asked. “You won’t get it until you’re older.” Rin said and began to put everything back before he started crying. “Do you still love mommy?” Rini asked, Rin felt like he was in the hot seat.
They kept their eyes fixated on him. “Of course I do, she’s an amazing friend. She’s the mother of my children.” Rin started. “No not that kind of love...like love love. Like do you wanna marry her?” Akira asked but his phone rang and he saw the FaceTime call from his mother.
His face turned white and he immediately stood up and answered. “H-hi mom..” Rin cleared his throat and the twins gasped. “Grandma?!” They practically yelled. “Rintarou, are you babysitting or something?” His mother asked. “Um no I’m not—“ “Daddy Can we see grandma? We don’t have a grandma we wanna see our grandma!” Rini pulled the hem of his shirt and he looked down. “Daddy? Rintarou they’re not talking about you right?” His mother asked concerned. “Give me a sec...” he told the kids. “Start picking out your clothes.” He said and they quickly nodded and he went straight to the living room. He sighed and rested his hand on his forehead. “Rintarou talk to me. What’s going on? Did you get someone pregnant?” His mom asked. “Yes—no—it’s complicated I—“ “Rintarou it’s either a yes or a no.” His mom said.
Is this deja vu?
“Alright I’ll be honest. Yes I got a girl pregnant.” He sighed and brushed his hair back with his hand. His mom immediately changed her face to one of disappointment. She wasn’t expecting this when she called her son to ask when he was going to visit again.
“Rintaoru explain.” His moms tone completely changed and he gulped, he didn’t hear you coming from the hall. “Well..remember Y/N? My highschool girlfriend?” He asked. “The girl who’s the reason you were severely depressed and almost suicidal? Yeah how could I forget?” She replied sarcastically and you froze.
Wait...what?
“Well before we broke up we kind of..ya know and so she left and she didn’t tell me about them—“ “SHE DID WHAT?! Where is she I want to talk to her!” His mom raised her voice. “Rin I-“ you spoke up and he turned quickly to see you standing there in your cute outfit.
“Y/N, i need to speak with you.” His mother broke the silence and Rin was about to protest but you snatched his phone away. “Hello Mrs. Suna.” You said awkwardly but she had the same deadpanned expression your ex and kids have. “Why didn’t you tell my idiot son you were pregnant?” She demanded rather than ask. “Well it was because I was heartbroken, alone, and going through something traumatic. My parents kicked me out and I didn’t want Rin to have to drop out to help me support two children.” You said. “Two—“ “I had twins.” You interrupted. “How do you know they’re my sons—“ “He’s the only person I’ve ever slept with and they look exactly like him, ma’am. I assure you they’re his.” You replied.
“I don’t believe you not telling Rin you were pregnant because of your situation is an excuse.” She said. “I know. But I wanted to wait until Rin was more mature—“ “And had money and fame as a pro player right? So you could get money?” She asked and both of your and Rin’s eyes widened. “Excuse me. I’m doing more than fine on my own and I have not asked Rin for anything.”
“What do you do for a living?” She asked as if trying to prove you wrong, “I’m a sports commentator, voice actress and Internet personality. I have my own house and car so don’t you dare accuse me of wanted to take money from Rintarou because I will never ask him for anything then to be in the kids lives—“
“Okay that’s enough—mom please stop. We still have a lot of things to talk about regarding the kids and co-parenting. I need to go, we’re taking them on a field trip.” He said after taking the phone away. “When are you guys both free?” His mother asked. “As a single mother I can assure you that I’m never free.” You replied sassily. “I’m free in two weeks—“ Rin interrupted again before another fight started. “..me too..” you replied after checking your calender on the wall.
“Okay, I want you both in Hyogo with the kids. We need to chat.” She said and hung up. You and Rin just looked at eachother and blinked in shock. Like...did that just happen? The kids peered over the hallway doorpost and frowned. They wanted to meet their grandma.
“We’ll talk later.” You told him and he nodded. You turned back down the hall and mumbled something about getting the kids ready for today. Suna changed back into his clothes from yesterday and when the kids look all presentable and cute you all left.
Tumblr media
“I should have know.” You said as you looked at the bright sign that said Onigiri Miya. Rin helped Akira out of the car seat and he chuckled. “Osamu’s food is bomb and you know it. I get a best friend discount either way.” He shrugged as you held Rini’s hand and Rin held Akiras hand and you both walked to the shop.
“Hmm? What a surprise!” Osamu spoke up when the bell chimed. “Good morning uncle Samu!” The kids giggled and let go to run to the counter. “How are my favorite munchkins?” He asked as they smiled and looked at the pictured food in amazement.
They act like you never feed them and when you do they just eat two bites and they’re “full”.
“Sup.” “Yo.” Suna and Osamu greeted. “Good morning Osamu.” You said politely and he smiled. “Good morning Y/N.” He replied. “When Suna didn’t come back last night I got a bit worried and he didn’t answer my texts till this morning but I’m glad he was with you.” Osamu said and you didn’t see Suna’s small blush. “Oh well the kids really wanted him to sleep over so he reluctantly agreed and we just called it a night.” You chuckled and he nodded. In the car, Suna told you his situation. He’s currently being transferred over to Tokyo in a different team and his lease ended so instead of getting another lease he moved out and he’s crashing with Osamu for a bit.
While you both talked you couldn’t see the look your kids were giving eachother. The opportunity was perfect and they’re going to take full advantage of it.
Finally you and Rin decided on what to order as well as the kids and you all sat down patiently. Rin was showing the kids pictures of his dog, Chewy. It was short for Chewbacca and you sighed at how much of a nerd Suna really is. But yet again that was another thing you guys bonded over back then.
Soon the food arrived and the kids loved it, you loved it. Rin obviously loved it. It was just so freaking good. “How much was the food again? So I can pay half.” You asked after wiping your mouth and Suna frowned. “I told you I got it.” He flicked your forehead and you smacked his hand. “Oww.” You whined. “It’s free cuz you demanded that I give you free food when I opened my restaurant, remember?” Osamu spoke up from the counter and you squinted. “But—“ “No if’s, but’s, or coconuts. I’m not charging Rin today.” Osamu said and you told him a small thank you.
Tumblr media
“Y/N the ticket booth is this way..” Rin pointed out as you walked to the gates. “I came prepared.” You said and pulled out the QR code’s on your phone. “Mama still gets nervous talking to strangers sometimes so she usually is prepared.” It didn’t take long for everyone to go through the gates and Rin realized you have to had payed for his ticket.
He kept bugging throughout the day that he could pay for everyone instead but you smacked his arm and pointed at your kids in the distance. They were at the kids section where they could touch starfish and Akira was obviously a little bit nervous. But Rini was there guiding her hand and making sure she was using the two fingers to pet the animals.
“Rini may be a bit of an airhead but he always remembers that he’s a big brother and he’s always there for Akira when she’s nervous or scared..” you told him and his heart melted. They were just so cute. “Um..excuse me..Suna Rintarou...hi I’m a big fan and I was wondering if I can take a photo or get an autograph..” a small voice said and you turned to see a teenage boy.
“Sure dude.” Suna smiled softly and the guy took out his phone for a selfie, “I can take the picture.” You spoke up and the teenager gasped.” “Kageyama Y/N! Oh my god, are you really cousins with Tobio? Or do you just happen to have the same last name? I love listening to your podcasts and the yandere video game that your in is amazing!” He began to geek out and you laughed. “Yeah Tobio and I are cousins, and thanks for the support! You’re a man of culture I see.” You joked.
There was a slight pause of realization with him and he gasped. “Oh..am I interrupting your date?” He asked and looked between you both.
“Yes.”
“No.”
He tilted his head confused and you held Rin’s hand and hugged his arm. Your chest practically engulfed his arm and he almost had a nose bleed. “We went to the same highschool together so we’re catching up with a small date.” You said causing Suna’s face to turn bright red. The boy apologized for bothering and he took a selfie with you both and left.
You quickly let go and you put some distance between you both. Suna began fanning his face and you tried to hide your blush. Out of everything you could do, why would you do that?!
“I don’t know if you wanna tell the world that you have two kids or that you got some chick pregnant in highschool.” You told him. “You weren’t some chick, and I honestly don’t care if people know.” He said and you sighed and turned back to your kids. “But if you’re gonna keep doing that then it’s fine.” He said and you turned back to see him covering his mouth in shock. “I said that out loud didn’t I?” He asked and you nodded.
This was going to be a long day.

You can create stuff for Steve Rogers, Chris Evans or any of Chris’s 18+ characters.
What can we create?
While the CE HBC is primarily a writing community, these events are to encourage creators of all types. So for this event, you can write, make moodboards, create a playlist, make a video or whatever you are inspired to create based on the prompts under the keep reading.
All of the prompts are listed below the cut and it does not matter how many things are created for each prompt.
Chris Evans Prompts
Could you do one with chris where the reader is eating something delicious and Chris hears them and tries to distract them with smutty things but the reader picks the treat over Chris. (Just had yams that tasted like my grandma used to make years ago, and I’ll pick that over Chris right now lol)
It’s hot AF where I live and we all know Chris doesn’t like the hot temps… so maybe something about trying to beat the heat
How many rounds was that? Four? God, we’re about to break our own record. With Chris? 😍
That’s a lot of sass for someone who ruined my sheets and still hasn’t apologized. With Chris?
Prompt: being friends with Chris and helping and supporting him with ASP too. When the news hit that Biden won your together and after squealing, he just grabs and kisses you.
Chris Evans brushing his heavily pregnant wife’s hair
Chris introducing you to his family for the first time
Readers reaction when Chris has to shave off his beard for a role and doesn’t tell her?

“Yeah sex is great but have you just ever wanted to rub yourself over that fucking beard of Steve’s?”
I have a prompt for you. Steve has fallen in love with the Motown sound since Sam has played most of the genre for him. He has gone shopping, or gone for coffee and he hears you sing a song from the Supremes and is instantly intrigued. Have fun seducing him with music. https://youtu.be/HXGz8i0I2L0
It’s the first Christmas Steve has spent with y/n
Reader making Steve a heart cake for Valentine’s Day ❤️

Y/N was made of the people she loved or once loved. Everyone is, really, but y/n probably made sure it showed.
 Like her habit for photography had come from her very own best friend, of the way she started watching cooking videos because of her other best friend and always read the ingredients on any of the food she ate. Her clothing style had come from her very own first boyfriend who had introduced her to the magnificent world of the 80’s.
Her love for 80’s movies had come from Louis introducing her every night to a different one, a new story, a new song, and honestly it was good he showed her to it, y/n found her one true love. Louis, really, had shown y/n a lot of things, like how to lie to see him at indecent hours, and how  And how Louis taught her that love doesn’t have to last and that sometimes people aren’t what we expect.
How she loved pancakes because that’s what her mother used to make them every Sunday, and how she’d learned from her father that sometimes sitting outside in the grass on a sunny day could bring back happiness to us.
How her grandma had taught her how to have a perfect poker face, and how her grandfather had shown her how to peel an orange in a ‘correct way’.
 How she had started to drink her tea with lemon and honey because James had once given her one like that and it brought nice memories. And how James had told her that it’s okay to love, even when people tell you not to, you have to fight for your love, you shall never be afraid of who you love. And James teaching her that she should love for herself, for her own, and not having to share her feelings if she didn’t want to.
How y/n had started to watch subtitled films because Timmy had shown her some hidden gems. Or how she had learned from Tim to enjoy little moments, like the sunrise if she ever had to wake up early, or how she opened the windows to listen to the rain splattering. Tim had taught her too much about life, like enjoying wasting time.
Y/N was made, the most, of the people she loved the most. Like how she made pasta the way James had taught her to once when their parents had gone out and James was left in charge.
Or how when she was sad she’d watch that movie her childhood friend had introduced her to, and how they didn’t talk now. How y/n had learned that music was a way of healing because of that same friend.
Or how to make a story sound great with Harry, and how Harry had shown her songs that probably were her favorite ones. How Harry and her knew that they didn’t like tequila because of that one time, and how they had learned that mixing cranberry, and grape juice and vodka tasted great thanks to Sam’s idea.
The way that Emma had taught her to use certain hair products, and how Emma had taught her that sometimes we have to sing out our feelings, and scream and shout. How Emma had taught her the importance of a friendship and having someone’s shoulder to cry on. That she didn’t have to be lonely.
How when she kissed she usually liked to place her hands behind their neck because she’d done that on her very first kiss with Tom, or how she usually ate some of the chocolate chips when she baked cookies because Tom and her used to do that. She had learned how to wrestle from a very young age and beat Tom, and she had learned how to play with his hair in a way to make him smile. She had learned the meaning of a rose, when all her life she had never understood about it, Tom had shown her how to approach a dog, and Tom had taught her how to cuff her jeans in a cool way. Or the habit she’d picked from him of undressing the beer bottle when they were talking or how he opened it with the table. How Tom had taught her how to kiss, from their very first one to the last one, different kisses each time, how he’d taught her each and every kiss is a journey, a mystery. How she’d learned how to deal with heartbreaks and to fall in love all over again. And how she had learned that he’d come back to her. But really, how a heartbreak feels when it’s real.
That’s who y/n was. All the beautiful things of the people she loved.
But she was also the bad ones, unfortunately, because people shape us. Y/N was also made of the ugly parts, very ugly parts.
One that stood out the most, she’d learned from Tom, from James, from her family, was to avoid talking.
Everybody wanted to talk, everybody except y/n. She knew she was being immature, but she’d learned that from everyone around her, not to care if you don’t have to. But she was too overwhelmed, everyone had something to say about, except her. How could she talk if she didn’t know what she wanted?
Tom, Harry, Emma, Tim, James, Sam, Cherry, Aunt Eliza, even Josh and Clark.
Everybody wanted to talk. She didn’t.
She had caught on to what Tom was doing. She'd go along with it, he was the only one she wanted to talk to, honestly.
And Emma, because she knew Emma didn’t judge her, Emma understood y/n, and Emma had been the only one who really didn’t tell her she was wrong. Even if Tim was her best friend, Ema understood that y/n’s heart belonged to Tom.
“Clark is great, I may have fallen in love with him,” Emma had stated.
Y/N nodded. “He’s great, I—“
“Why didn’t you know?” Emma asked.
“I did know. But I didn’t—James was—you know how I’ve only dated three guys?” Y/n asked, she was putting on makeup, she had a date.
“Yeah.”
“James is exactly the opposite, he’s dated like half the gay population his age in London,” y/n scrunched her nose, as she was choosing between lipsticks.. “So I just—Never paid attention to any guy he dated because I never thought it was serious.”
“Are you talking to him now?”
“I did today, only because of Clark,” y/n admitted, giving up on the lipsticks and instead choosing to work on her hair. “James is still angry I am in love.”
“Not angry at that, you know that,” Emma pointed out.
“Is it that wrong I am so in love with Tom?” Y/n left the brush on the table as she turned to look at Emma.
“It’s completely bollocks y/n, but then again,” Emma sighed, “I wish I could be more like you and just love—I mean and I also wish Harry wasn’t so scared okay? He’s just so bloody scared, I wish he’d just say hey, Emma, d’ya fancy to go for a stroll? But no, we are both so… Gosh, I wish we were more like you and Tom, throwing everything down the drain.”
“We are-”
“You are, y/n,” Emma rolled her eyes. “He blows your mind and you basically want to yell it to the world, and he gets you all stupid, and you’re happy again, that’s alright, though-”
Emma was laying down on y/n’s bed, her feet up against the wall, as she was nibbling on a popsicle.
“Yes, I know, we have to talk,” she sighed.
“Who says it has to be right now?” Emma had said. “Right now you barely have time to think, and I see you all happy and giggling, and besides, talking doesn’t have to be dramatic.”
“What do you mean?”
“It’s just… I don’t get it why James wants it to be dramatic, it’s just hey, you guys love each other, what else is there to know?”
Y/N nodded, turning back to the lipsticks.
“You do have to tell him you know about Cherry, though, which-”
“Yeah, n, no, but I get it,” y/n sighed.
“Which, I love you’re ignoring, just pretending like she doesn’t exist, ” Emma laughed. “She just arrived yesterday, didn’t she?”
“She did,” Y/N sighed. “Ugh, I don’t want to see her and she wants to talk, what does she want to talk about? We’ve never cared about each other before, met her like three times growing up because my mum and hers didn’t get along, which by the way, I’m scared James and I are headed in that same direction.”
“You won’t,” Emma said. “James loves you too much to ever leave you.”
“You never know,” y/n said. “Besides that’s not my point, my point is why does she want to talk? We have nothing in common!”
“Dunno, you’re blood related and you both rode the same dick, seems like you’ve got a lot in common.”
Y/n closed her eyes as she forced a laugh, “Emma!”
“I’m just saying, y/n, that’s why you and I became close, we’ve both kissed the same two guys.”
“It’s different,” Y/N scoffed. “I—just don’t want to see her okay? Because I know I’ll be reminded of every single insecurity I have,” she admitted. “Because I know that the moment I see her I’ll get just so anxious, you know? She’s so pretty, and she’s so perfect and from what-”
“From what I’ve gathered from Eliza, she’s also a mess,” Emma added.
“That’s an issue, that’s Tom’s type, just look at me,” y/n laughed as she stared at a bright red lipstick.
Emma scoffed. “Oh, hadn’t thought about that, Tom’s into messy girls with your genes.”
“It’s so fucked up, though,” y/n said, as she looked up at the wall, she needed to change the flowers, they were drying out. She hadn’t changed them in a while.
Emma shrugged, “considering how small his brain is, he probably thought it would feel the same way if he closed his eyes.”
“As if it would,” y/n replied cockily, finally choosing a light pink, changing it up a bit, she’d always used bright red lipsticks with Tom,  “I’ve known him his whole life, and now I’ve—“she cleared her throat. “ I know exactly how to work him up.”
Emma let out a loud and long laugh. “I can tell, Jesus, what did you do to him to have him oh, so mesmerized? Are you a sex goddess or why are those two men so bloody entranced by you?”
Y/N blushed and shook her head laughing. “You’re an idiot.”
“How do you really feel?” Emma wondered, getting the conversation back as serious as it was supposed to be.
“I don’t know,” Y/N admitted, she was still on some pair of pjs. “I… I’ve been talking with Tom, or…” She rolled her eyes. “He’s found a way to talk, and I think it’s worked out for both of us.”
“Oh, what is it?” Emma sighed.
Y/n walked over to her closet, it felt so weird to choose something to wear, Tom had warned her to be casual, something her style, something very her.
“We use the script so we can… I guess we’re projecting it all, and well, I think he’s been understanding about it, and I think I’m starting to understand his point of view, about Tim at least.”
“Please, I don’t need to listen to him to know why he feels that way,” Emma pointed out.
“Really?” Y/n turned back to Emma as she was choosing between them.
“I like the red one,” Emma suggested. “But please, y/n,” Emma scoffed. “Timmy was the one who stole his chance, Timmy was the one who got the girl when he had fucked up and everyone around Tom said it, we’ve all said it at some point, Tim is perfect for you.”
“But—“
“and besides, Timmy was the one-”
“The one who opened the door when Tom came to apologize,” y/n finished Emma’s sentence as she sat down hugging the red dress Emma had suggested.
Emma frowned. “What?”
“Guess Timmy had secrets, too,” y/n said.
Emma seemed confused.
“He never told me about it, how Tom had come a second time, and…” She sighed. “I mean I guess I’m thankful he didn’t but I’m… I’m only wondering—“
“Oh, back when you first started dating,” Emma recalled. “He did tell me about it, and I.. was the one to advise him not to  tell you.”
Y/N gulped.
“Would you have run back to Tom?” Emma wondered, embarrassed. “Honestly I told him not to because—Well, I had asked Harry about it, you know? Harry had said you hated each other and that you had been avoiding Tom for a while now. That you were enemies.”
“We were.”
“And I mean—Back then, you really hated him.”
Y/n nodded. “Yeah, I did.”
“So I told Tim not to tell you about it, because I thought—I didn’t know the background but I thought Tom was going to—hurt you, you know? And I guess, we all did, and we all kept that mentality even when he wasn’t trying to.”
“Yeah.”
“Wow, I’ve never thought about that,” Emma nodded. “Even when I knew you were dating back in New York, we were just waiting for it, for Tom to—“
“Yeah, for Tom to pull a Tom,” y/n ended the sentence. “And I mean—He kind of did, but it was my fault.”
“Tom really sabotages himself, it seems.”
Y/N reached out to hug her frog, she was thankful James had brought it, “he does, but because he’s expected to, you know? Maybe that’s why— I haven’t brought it up because I’m not—I’m not expecting the heartbreak this time, and I know bringing up the whole Cherry thing is looking for it,” y/n explained. “I trust him this time, and he really wants to make it work out.”
“Would you have gone back to him? Had Tim told you he had showed up?” Emma questioned.
Y/N breathed in heavily. “Dunno,” she said. “I was so heartbroken back then, I thought— and I had promised myself back then I would never fall back for him, and… I mean, I had even thought I would never love again because that’s how dramatic it was, I really didn’t want to see him, that heartbreak is what led to all this mess, you know?” She explained. “Now Tom knows that, I think he really understands it, and he feels guilty and I mean, I was angry when Tom told me about it, because… Tim, well he didn’t know back then, he just was too sure that Tom loved me but—After learning all of this? Tim should’ve told me, because just now, learning it, I guess it changed a lot of things, not that it erased anything, but I lived all this time thinking he hadn’t… He really hadn’t cared, and it took him a lot of time, still, but he had tried to apologize again, and Tim keeping it to himself knowing that what broke me the most was that Tom had never shown up? Tim keeping it to himself is just—so selfish.”
Emma bit her lip. “He’s still in love with you.”
Y/N remained quiet.
“I mean, you can’t blame him,” Emma said. “You guys were… I mean before Tom, you really seemed to be hitting it off, I thought you’d end up dating again.”
“I did, too, at some point,” y/n admitted. “But-”
“But you love Tom, I know,” Emma shrugged. “No but… Y/N you also, have to acknowledge it, you can’t keep playing with Tim which-before you say anything, I mean it’s also on him, he knew it, but then again, I… I believed it at some point y/n, that you were going to get back together with him because… The way you looked at him just… and it was just—”
“I know, I know and I thought… I don’t know, okay?” y/n admitted as she sat up. “I… It’s cause I never… I had closure with Tim, alright? I gave him the ring back because I thought, I know it, I want Tom, okay? It’s Tom, yes, it’s Tom.”
“But?”
Y/n sighed, “Timmy—alright as I said before, I had said I would never love again after the whole Rome thing,” she cleared up. “And then Tim came along and just showed me this beautiful life and taught me how to love again, and I—He became a very special part of me.”
“Yeah, and? That doesn’t explain your flirting.”
“I didn’t—flirt.”
“Well you answered to his flirting,” Emma pointed out.
“We were—“
“You guys were flirting y/n!” Emma replied quickly, slightly stressed. “You guys don’t flirt like everyone else! Your flirting style with each other was by showing each other songs and him watering your plants, y/n! You were basically having sex with each other,” Emma rolled her eyes.
Y/N stayed quiet.
“But I know, Tom, Tom—“
Y/n gulped. “Yeah, Tom.”
Emma watched y/n, confused. “Why are you acting like it’s the last time?”
“What?”
“Like it’s your last chance with Tom.”
“I...don’t know, because what if it is, you know? It’s… stupid, we’ve had plenty of chances and… Last time, I just… Had I known it would lead to that. I know it’s my fault, and like we’ve both blown it up so it’s—“
“Neither one of you will fuck up.”
“I know—But Tom… We are trying and I’m happy but I feel-”
“Y/N you are pretending, I know, you won’t be happy until you talk about it with him.”
She sighed. “I know, and we’ve been talking and I…” She coughed. “I really want to try it out.”
“But…?”
“Am I allowed to forgive something like that? Am I even allowed to get angry about Cherry?”
Emma sat up as well. “Y/N, had he slept with anyone else I wouldn’t be so sure but that’s your cousin, that’s fucked up and-”
“What if he finds out about Tim?”
Y/N grabbed the pillow that had once been under her head and proceeded to get it in her face and scream into it.
“Wait, I’m… I’m gonna try that,” Emma laughed, doing the same.
Both of them were screaming into the pillows, pitying their sorrows and problems.
Timmy had walked in.
“What the hell?” He asked.
Emma was the only one to peak her head out of it. “It’s therapeutic.”
Timothee had only chuckled. “I bet.”
Y/N had stopped screaming but kept the pillow over her face. She didn’t know how she felt about Tim, there was no point in being angry at something from the past, but it did change a lot of the way she saw him, maybe he had forgotten. But Tim was never one to forget, he was observant and he was quiet, and he was all about the stories.
“Um, y/n?” Tim said.
Emma watched Tim, and the small object he had in his hand. She shot him a warning glare, scared of the inside.
“Yeah?” y/n answered from her pillow which now had a nice stain of makeup on it.
“Can I talk to you?” He asked.
Another person wanting to talk, what was it with everybody wanting to say words and listening and whatever? Y/N thought to herself.
Though Timmy hadn’t asked for it yet, she knew it, but he hadn’t really said it, not the whole y/n we should talk.
She wanted to say no, but she knew that she couldn’t keep doing that. Counting the days until it finally had to blow up, and then end up with bruises, no, she didn’t have to do that.
She finally let the pillow down, “Yeah, sure,” she said before walking out of her room.
“Sure, leave Emma behind,” Emma pointed out.
“I… well,” Y/N looked at Tim.
“It’ll be quick, darling, Emma dear,” Tim assured her.
Emma rolled her eyes. “It never is with you both.”
Tim rolled his eyes before leading the way outside of the apartment, y/n frowned, asking him to wait up so she could put on her sneakers, still wearing her pj’s.
“So your birthday is tomorrow,” Tim had said as they had walked out, he had sat on the stairs.
She chuckled as she sat beside him. “Yeah.”
“You look really pretty,” Tim had said.
“These pj’s really accentuate my features huh,” y/n joked.
“Your makeup looks pretty and hair, idiot,” Tim chuckled.
She only gave him a sad smile.
“So, what are your plans?” He asked.
“For… tonight? I’ve got a date,” she explained.
“No, tomorrow.”
She shrugged. “Tom’s got some plans, apparently, he hasn’t told me anything about it, honestly I don’t… I don’t want to…”
“What?”
“Do anything you know? I will be too tired after filming, and I… I just feel like… Dunno, James and Clark will be there and I don’t want to talk to James still, and apparently Cherry invited herself, too so… And you’ll be there, and Harry and Emma… and Josh, and I just... ” She chuckled. “I’ve got a bad feeling.”
“Why?”
“Dunno, seems like a perfect combination for disaster.”
“I met Cherry today,” he admitted. “Well, we’d met before but-Yeah, I thought you’d be at the flower shop. “And she was there, instead.”
Y/N scrunched her nose. “Yeah I know she’s there, that’s why I haven’t gone there,” she explained chuckling shyly.
“Why?”
“Because then I’ll start feeling insignificant, because let’s face it and don’t you dare say no, but she’s really… Pretty, like she’s everything a girl would want to be and I’m jealous of her,” she admitted, truthfully. “I’ve never been the jealous kind but with her, I feel like—Of course anyone would choose her over me, and don’t—Say anything okay? I just feel that way. And if I see her I’ll be reminded of the elephant in the room waiting to be addressed, and I… If the conversation about you went wrong I don’t want to know how that-”
“About me?”
“Yeah,” she looked down. “Dunno.”
Tim bit his lip.
“How did he-?”
“I don’t want to talk about that, Tim,” she quickly answered. “I can’t blame him for feeling the way he feels and that’s on me, too, I mean… I… really.”
“What?”
She looked down. “I— well, I don’t…know alright? If I feel anxious about Cherry I can only imagine how he feels about you, no, I can’t even imagine it, and look Tim, I—you know you’re very important to me but I’m… I’m dating… Or whatever is going on now, but It’s Tom right now, alright? And I know it’ll be for a long time.”
“I know.”
She looked at him, confused by his statement because it really didn’t feel like he knew it.. “And I don’t… want you to think there is an open door or-”
“Y/N, I know,” he said. “Yeah, I know it’s Tom, now.”
“But it’s not just—“
“I know,” Tim looked away. “I know.”
She looked down. “I’m sorry.”
“Just….” He took a deep breath. “I know it’s him, but that doesn’t… I mean, we’ve been friends, and I—I just ask you not to push me away, alright? I don’t know how I’d live without y/n in my world, and if having you around means having you with him, then I just have to deal with it, move on you know? And I know we are friends, so this is… This comes from your friend, Timmy.”
She smiled, just slightly, very timidly. It hurt, hurting him but of course, keeping him around meant jeopardizing her relationship with Tom, and she really didn’t want to give it more excuses.
“Timmy,” she sighed.
He smiled. “I’m serious, it’s alright, no… no resentment, alright? We both know we… I don’t…you know it, I’ll always love you, but we—I mean you—you love someone else and it’s be stupid of me not letting you love him, that is just pathetically selfish. And don’t get me wrong, it hurts like a bitch…. Yeah, I know it, but… I don’t want to lose you, I am not stupid… but I also… I know that if I give this to you tomorrow, Tom will lose it and I… don’t want that, so I’m giving you this, today.”
He pulled out a film canister. And it felt like one of those times when life likes to punch you with reality. She felt a fear deep inside her stomach. Last time he’d given her one of those an engagement ring was hidden in it.
“It’s… It’s not what you think,” Tim rolled his eyes. “Oh, you really thought I’d propose again?”
She let out a soft chuckle. “No--I… I mean,” I’m-I didn’t think you would-”
“Your face,” He chuckled softly. “Yeah, no, I… I’m…”
“Yeah, just last time you gave me one of those-”
“Yeah, and look where it led us, I’m not… I wouldn’t… No,” Timmy laughed. “No, it’s not… and—do you really think I’m the type of guy to propose on a bad time—-Actually don’t answer that,” he chuckled. “Okay, open it.”
She grinned, and took the film canister from him. “Man I hope it’s an iPad,” she joked, warning a laugh from Tim. “No, you—you shouldn’t have.”
She shook it just slightly, listening to no sound coming out from it, before finally opening, carefully. “A…there’s nothing?” She asked.
“Yeah,” Tim laughed. “I know.”
She frowned, confused but then chuckled. “I love it… I hope I… can get to wear it soon,” she joked.
“It couldn’t fit there, but I—Well, you know, we had that tradition, ,” he said before finally giving her the box that sat beside him.
She took the box and smiled, opening it, an old vintage Polaroid camera stood there.
“I know you’ve—I think it works, it’s—It’s an original, I've noticed you haven't really taken any Polaroids, and I know you love them,” he coughed. “So, yeah, happy birthday.”
Y/N had only looked up, giving him a true smile.
“Thank you, I love it!”
But of course, the timing could not have gone any worse. Tom had arrived. Y/N had momentarily  forgotten she had agreed to spend the night with him, nothing too serious but Tom had insisted because he had a surprise for early in the morning and he’d come pick her up for dinner and then she’d stay with him.
Maybe she should’ve seen the trouble coming.
Tom cleared his throat loudly, “hello,” he said, standing with sunflowers. Yellow flowers with pretty meaning, y/n thought.
Y/n looked up, calmly, knowing that if he saw any hint of her freaking out it would blow it up because his mind would go places.
“Oh hi!” She grinned. “sorry—I’m not—“
Tom clenched his jaw at Tim, but then turned to y/n and chuckled, “Darling,  when I said casual—I didn’t—“
She chuckled nervously standing up. “Sorry, I—“she squeezed her eyes shut. “I was discussing with Tim something about some pictures he’s planning on—yeah,” she lied, as she hid the film canister and box behind her back.
“Yeah,” Tim said, clearing his throat, standing up as well. “Hello, Thomas.”
“Tim.” Tom was nervous already, y/n could tell.
“Are those for me?” Y/n questioned staring at the flowers  before they could say another word to each other.
Tom chuckled between his teeth, “yeah, they’re most certainly not for Tim.”
“Oh,” Tim said, “and here I was getting excited about them.”
Tom faked a very quiet laugh and then turned to y/n. “So? Don’t get me wrong, you literally look so beautiful—but—“ He smiled looking down at her clothing.
“Yeah—right!” She excused herself, not forgetting to kiss his cheek, before running back to her room, where Emma was waiting with the red dress and had pulled out some heels for her.
Emma  walked out of the room, “hello, Tom, long time no see,” she said with sarcasm.
“I know, these couple hours have been long,” Tom joked back, as he had walked in.
Tim had followed after. It felt so tense, Emma could swear she could cut the tension with a knife.
Emma hummed a fake laugh. “There are flower vases over there, you can guess which ones are y/n’s now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna steal Tim from you just a bit, I hope you don’t miss him as much.”
Emma had dragged Tim to her own room.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” Emma snapped.
“A lot of things,” Tim answered. “But let’s not go there, please.”
“Oh don’t play that with me, I know exactly what you’re doing, and Tim—“
“I’m not—“
“Don’t fucking pull the whole I’m not doing anything bullshit with me,” she rolled her eyes. “I know exactly what you’re doing, and I’m sure you gave her the Polaroid today, really? Exactly when you know she’ll go on a date with Tom? And you take her to the stairs? So he can see it right?
Tim clenched his jaw. “I—Well.”
“Sabotaging her relationship is not the way to go, Tim,” Emma warned him. “And I—I just told you—Best thing you could try is...move on, alright? I know you love her and that she was—She seemed perfect for you, and I still think you guys worked so well together but… She is so in love with him, and by doing this you’re only hurting her more—Besides, really Tim, you know her better than this,” she pushed. “I—“ Emma sighed. “I'm telling you this because I love you, I don’t want to sound harsh but—“She closed her eyes. “I know she is confused, and making her even more confused won’t help you, let her settle it, let her have it right now.”
Tim didn’t say anything and just walked out of the room. He had gone to his room and unfortunately had left his door open to see y/n walking out on a red dress to run over excitedly to Tom, who had pulled her close to him to kiss her cheek and smell her perfume.
Timmy knew Emma was right, y/n was in love with him. So, very deeply in love. And it hurt, seeing her. And Timmy asked for more patience, or for more time, or strength to move on.
It felt weird, Tim felt lonely and broken hearted, and he just missed her, and it was stupidly incredible that she lived right there in the same apartment. He knew she loved Tom, that was it but it…. It still didn’t make any sense. Honestly, it felt like they were completely strangers.
Especially y/n, she really felt like a stranger, even to Tom it seemed. She seemed too… distant to everyone.
Tom felt it, too. He felt that y/n was just off, even if she was happy or tried to be and even if she was kissing his cheek, she was being… different. And Tom only wanted to get over with it, the awkwardness.
And he wondered if she wanted to get over with it, too.
They went out for dinner, not in the place where she’d imagine Tom would take her, it was a nice dinner place with lightbulbs hanging around, a flower in a glass bottle, candles around, very… cozy, and romantic, and they were talking about barely anything, and maybe for a bit it felt like they were each other again.
Y/N knew this, she felt weird with herself, as if even when she seemed to be saying what she wanted to say, she really wasn’t saying what her heart wanted, but as if her own heart was keeping secrets. It felt like Tom didn’t know her, though. And it had never felt that way before, but it felt like they were both trying to get to know each other again. Because neither of them were being themselves, not entirely.
“So, you were clearly not talking about pictures with Tim,” Tom had mentioned.
y/n looked at him and nodded. “Yeah, I wasn’t….”
“So?” Tom seemed anxious about it.
“He gave me a birthday present, a…he gave me a polaroid,” she cleared up. “A vintage, original one.”
“Oh, that’s cool,” Tom nodded, and gulped. “As long as he doesn’t give you a ring.”
She rolled her eyes. “Tom.”
Tom shrugged.
“I… told him,” she cleared her throat. “That well… it’s you.”
“It’s me?” Tom wondered, and a smile came to his face. “What am I?”
She rolled her eyes, chuckling softly. “An idiot, that’s what you are.”
Tom chuckled. “Uh-huh, I am, and what else?”
She blushed. “Nothing.”
Tom hadn’t pushed it any further. Their conversation kept flowing. Talking about them. What made them so… them.
“I remember that everyone was in love with this one guy, ugh, what’s his name? The one that bullied you,” Y/N tried to recall.
“Edward,” Tom remembered. “He was so big.”
“Well, everyone had a crush except me, because well, I was the idiot, you know?”
“You loved that scrawny guy who-”
“Adorable guy,” she added.
“Scrawny guy,” he continued. “Who did ballet and everyone crushed on Edward, who-”
“I actually was… dating Louis back then,” she recalled. “But…” She chuckled. “But my point is… I was the one who… hid a rat in his car.”
“No way!” Tom’s eyes popped as he leaned over. “You’re kidding.”
“I… Look, nobody could be an asshole to you unless it was me, that was-” She was nervous. “I was so angry at everything he said at you, I…” She rolled her eyes. “And I… genuinely don’t know.”
“Where in this bloody world did you get a rat from?” He wondered. “I mean thank you but I didn’t think you’d-”
“Please I had experience from pranks for you so of course…” She gulped, hiding a laugh. “I...Well, there was a rat in Louis' house, and well they trapped it and instead of… you know killing it I… well told Louis to break into Ed’s car and I hid the rat there.”
Tom was shocked. “And that was because of me?”
“No, I hated Ed,” she looked away. “He was the biggest asshole.”
Tom grinned. “Are you sure? Because I remember that rat incident being right after he had hit me in the hall.”
“Really?” y/n coughed. “I wouldn’t remember,” she blushed looking away.
“Which actually brought attention to me, they said it had been me!” He recalled. “I got into detention.”
Y/N grinned. “Yeah, killed two birds in one shot,” she smirked.
“I’m serious did you-?”
“Yeah, maybe I did it for you, okay? Whatever, yes, I had feelings for you and I was angry someone else was taking away my job, let’s remember we were enemies back then, alright?” She was nervous.
Tom smirked. “You had a crush on me.”
“Shut up,” she chuckled. “You had a crush on me, too.”
Tom shrugged, smiling. “Yeah, I did. I’m not trying to hide it.
Y/N avoided his gaze, not believing he was actually making her feel butterflies, even after all this time, she was still nervous. In a good way. She wasn’t always nervous, most of the time, she didn’t, she felt so calm around him, but on the edge, as if she didn’t need to worry about being herself but expectant of each other’s attitude.
Tom watched her, “Why do I always feel like there’s always something on your mind?”
“Because there is,” she laughed. “Don’t you?”
“No, I’m dumb, remember? I can actually blank up my mind,” he smirked. “Or well, not at all. There is a constant on my mind,” he had reached for her hand.
“Oh?” her eyes had brightened up, a timid smile on her face.
“Yeah, Spiderman,” he joked, earning a glare from y/n.
It was so stupid. But they were… back being them. Probably because they were alone. As if someone was brushing y/n’s dream, and she couldn’t get enough of him, his laugh was her everything. She couldn’t help but sigh and run out of breath, and never stop blushing, there was no doubt about it. And she had once thought about it, ‘the day that Tom loves me, the world will party’. She had been wrong, the world wasn’t partying, and there were no flowers blooming and no fireworks. The world instead, stopped, as if it was them and only them. The stars were probably jealous of them seeing them shining even more brightly than them.
“You know, from the moment we met,” he had said.
“When we were kids, you mean?” She chuckled .
“Truly met,” Tom gulped. “Rome, I mean.”
She blinked. “Yeah.”
“I… Why didn’t you kiss me?” He asked.
“Hm? When?”
“That one night, you know the one, lovely evening, I remember I asked for a kiss,” he recalled. “And… you said and I quote: ‘No, Thomas, don’t ask for a kiss’.”
She looked away, remembering. “Because I didn’t want you to ask for it.”
He frowned.
“It’s silly but that’s the way I am, I didn’t want you to ask for it, I was clearly begging for one,” she explained. “I wanted you to… do it. One should never ask for a kiss, or not… verbally.”
“How so?”
“I mean certain contexts,” y/n said. “But that night? I thought I had hinted it enough
“So you did want me to kiss you,” He grinned.
“Of course!” She beamed. “I—it’s not secret by now that I—“she cleared her throat. “Well, enjoy when our lips come together.”
“Oh, so you enjoy that?” He mocked.
“Very much so,” she answered shyly. “And—it had been the perfect evening! It would’ve cost you nothing,” she smiled.
“Cost me nothing,” he laughed.
“I think you’ll find that kissing me is quite cheap,” she pointed out.
He scrunched his nose. “That’s a lie.”
“No, no, I was the one who could lose there,” she sighed.
 “No, y/n. Because kissing you costs a lifetime.”
She scoffed. “How so?”
“I kissed you once when I was 13 and never stopped thinking about it,” he said. “And after that evening.”
“Would I have been so bad?” She questioned, “if we had realized it back then.”
“Think we did,” he said, “but you didn’t kiss me either.”
“No, but—because you had asked for it.”
“You’re right… I should’ve, but there’s a lot of things I should’ve done...still can’t believe it, how stupid I was,” he said.
“It didn’t click you know,” she nodded. “When you broke my heart,” she continued. “I mean, the excuses you gave me… They didn’t make any sense.”
Tom looked down.
“And…” She sighed.
“Would you’ve forgiven me? If I had come earlier?” He asked.
She stared at him. “Maybe,” she admitted. “Probably, if I’m honest… I did wait for you to come again with yellow flowers, and I’d have my hand right in my heart, and I would wait for you to come and apologize and I would see it, you know, wait for you to stand up in the rain and said you didn’t mean it, and I… I was angry, alright? It was stupid letting my life pass by waiting for it besides the whole scenario...but then again, it wa shot and it’s still you and I’m—it’s silly.”
“It’s not silly,” Tom said. “It’s you,” he took a deep breath, “and I knew you’d like that… kind of stuff, but when I finally realized it, it was too late.”
“But it’s not late now,” she admitted. “We’re finally on time. And I’m glad I’ve always been so stubborn when it comes to you because otherwise we wouldn’t be here.”
The evening had continued to flow, as both of them had become quieter, in a way that they didn’t need to talk to communicate, between whispers and giggles and hand brushing, it was all they needed.
The ticking had stopped, y/n had noticed. It’d come, she knew but… God, when she was with him, she didn’t have to worry about anything. Because it seemed that it was made for them, all her doubts disappeared because he was the answer she needed. It was them against the world.
They hadn’t talked about Valerie and William, not that night. It was Tom and y/n,.
They hadn’t kissed. Tom had ceased the kissing when James had arrived, which y/n hated, she missed his lips so much her own were begging for them. She wouldn’t ask for it. Never ask for a kiss, not out loud.
She was wearing his jacket back on their way, he had said: ‘I wasn’t cold but I knew you’d be so that’s why I brought it’. Her hand was on his hair as he drove, listening to music, windows down as they hummed the lyrics, and as y/n stared down at the lights the city was giving her, her hair flying.
She was sad, though, Tom hadn’t even tried to lean over and kiss her, not even seeing a hint of him trying to do so.
They had walked in, the guys seemed to be all too invested in a video game, all except for Clark who was rather interested in playing with James’ hair as y/n’s brother yelled at the screen. He looked up when seeing them walk in, he smiled at the sight of y/n’s shoulders being covered by Tom’s jacket.
“Hello, you two,” Clark had greeted them.
Tom peeked to see the screen, not letting go of y/n’s hand.
“Hi,” y/n said, knowing she’d most likely lose Tom’s attention to the screen.
“How did it go?” Clark asked.
“Bloody hell, Samuel!” James yelled.
“Piss off,” Harry yelled, too.
y/n chuckled. “It went well,” she said.
“Well?” Tom lost focus of the screen, as he turned to her. “Well?”
She ignored him and kept staring at Clark. “Can you believe the evening has gone by so splendidly but he still hasn’t kissed me?”
Tom immediately blushed.
“Good,” said James. “Kissing is gross.”
“Is it?” Clark asked before kissing his cheek.
James coughed. “Straight kissing is gross,” he corrected himself.
Harry laughed.
Sam scrunched his nose. “Why haven’t you kissed her? you usually bloody eat each other’s faces.”
Harry scoffed.
“Don’t you dare eat my sister’s face,” James warned. “Or anything for that matter.”
“James,” y/n closed her eyes.
Tom laughed. “We’re gonna…”
“No, why don’t you guys stay? We were about to play Mario Kart” Offered James. “So why don’t you both play with all of us, you know you can sit over there with your brother and y/n can sit over here, everyone’s happy.”
“Jamey, love, don’t be a dick,” warned Clark.
Y/N chuckled. “Fine, I want to play,” she admitted.
“Great, mario kart is the real deal breaker between couples.”
Of course, they hadn’t followed James’ instruction for their sitting arrangement, y/n had sat on the couch, and Tom had sat on the floor, resting his back against her. Y/N was still bothered by the fact she hadn’t yet been kissed that night, but she soon forgot it as it felt like one of those nights when they were younger, all of them playing and yelling at each other.
Tom had left the room without any explanation at some point, but she was too busy trying to beat her brother at rainbow road to even notice.
Time went by, and before she knew it, the lights had gone off, and they all had turned with a smirk as Tom had walked in with a cake with candles.
‘Happy Birthday’ they all sang as she stared at the cake, pretty cake, sunflowers again. Tom kissing her cheek.
It felt… like years ago, the Holland’s, James, and now Clark, too, of course it was Tom holding the cake now, not Harry, and now she didn’t have a wish, usually she’d plan ahead her birthday wishes, because that’s something James had taught her to. Instead, she wished for everything to keep flowing as easy as it could with Tom. Funny, how many birthday wishes had not involved him already.
They had sat and ate cake like old times, y/n smearing some frosting to Tom’s cheek and then kissing it off, making the boy blush and getting James to glare at her. Laughing at each other, telling old jokes as y/n was laying against Tom, his arms around her and his lips brushing against her head.
How many years had they not wasted by being enemies.
Eventually, they had all gone to bed knowing the next day would expect them, except for Clark and James who had stayed in the kitchen.
Tom and y/n had stayed on the couch.
“So, I’m gonna be honest,” Tom had said as he had sat with her, he had left yet again to get something
She only stared into his eyes, begging her with her sight to kiss her already. She should’ve probably wished for that, instead.
“I—this wasn’t going to be your birthday present.”
“You didn’t need to get me anything,” she said.
He had sat up and pulled out a small box, he seemed nervous, but excited. The box… gave her shivers. But it couldn’t be.
Y/n only smiled watching him, resenting her head against her palm.
“I—back when,” he gulped, “back when I was still in London debating whether or not to direct dos-a-dos,” he continued. “I—well.”
“Yeah?”
“I couldn’t stop thinking about you because—Well,” he grinned. “I am so stupidly in love with you.”
She only blushed.
“So—one day,” he gulped. “I went—Well, you know, to the mall and whatsoever, and—I saw this shop.”
“Right.”
“And so I bought a pair of boots for me,” he said, leaning against the couch, trying to recall. “They were very—nice, you know?”
“Uh—huh,” she rolled her eyes. “And did you bring those boots to LA?”
“No, I didn’t,” he side eyed her, “should’ve, you would have loved them.”
Y/n rolled her eyes giggling. “I bet.”
“But anyway, after I bought the boots—I passed by that shop you like.”
Y/n blinked. “Care to be more specific?”
“The one with the vinyls, and vintage stuff,” he reminded her, but she looked down at the tiny box he was holding, it definitely wasn’t anything from that shop.
“Oh, yeah, love that place,” she smiled.
“Yeah, and I—went in,” he admitted. “And I couldn’t stop thinking about you, everything they had… so I—“
She just waited for him to continue.
“I bought a fee vinyls for me, too,” he nodded seriously.
 Y/n bit her lip, holding back a laugh, “amazing, which ones did you buy?”
“I bought a Beatles one… uh, Queen.”
“Great choices,” she grinned. “I’m proud.”
“And of course Rolling Stones, because I thought of you,” he said.
Y/n scooted closer to him to gently run her hands through his hair, he couldn’t hide his smile.
“And then—One day, I went out again,” he grinned.
“Hm-hm?”
He coughed, “yeah, and I walked again to that one other shop you like, the one with the clothes.”
“With the clothes,” she laughed.
“Yeah, you know the one,” he chuckled, avoiding her gaze.
“And did you get in?” She asked.
“No,” he grinned. “I went for an ice cream, you know, I was really craving one.”
She stared at him, so mesmerized by him, even when he was being the silliest. “God, I love you,” she blurted out, without really thinking of it. That’s how it should be, realy. Nothing wrong with that.
He finally locked his eyes with her and smiled, he took her hand in his and kissed it. “Yeah, so—“he grinned, “none of that has to do with your birthday present.”
Y/n chuckled. “Really? I thought the birthday present would be seeing you with those boots and dancing with you to the music on those vinyls and eating ice cream.”
“Ah, that would’ve been great huh,” he grinned staring into her eyes.
“Would’ve loved that.”
“I actually did bring the vinyls,” he admitted.
She kissed his temple. “Great, let’s play them—“
“Yeah, but—I haven’t finished,” he admitted. “I… Well, I've had a lot of time, you know? To reflect on—on the script, on us. But especially the script.”
Y/n stared at the features on his face, fixating on the freckles on his nose as he kept talking.
“So, I kept avoiding the script, even if I wanted to direct it because—Well, it was your dream, I remember and I think I’ll never forget how in Rome you told me your biggest dream was making a film of a ballerina,” he said. “I—well, and I wanted to read it, but I couldn’t because I thought—well, dunno, having something yet to read was something I still had to look forward to, you know? And so I kept listening to the vinyls because they reminded me of you, and I kept—trying to find you everywhere, alright?” He confessed. “On every single face and—The days just went by and I—eventually read it.”
Y/n silently watched him.
“And I fell in love with it, because—it’s you. The script is so—you, it was like reading an open book about you, and I don’t mean it in the way that it’s our story, like I genuinely—you really poured heart and soul in it, the songs you put in, the setting—and, well, it was really you, you know? I know you’ve always loved 80’s movies because they seem so ridiculous but so magical.“
Y/n chuckled nervously. “Where are you going with this?”
“I know it’s your biggest dream,” he sentenced. “And well—I’m sorry I didn’t get you a pair of boots like mine.”
She laughed rolling her eyes.
“And I didn’t get a vinyl.”
“Tommy,” she nudged him.
He only handed it to her, the small box. A very stupid and scary suspicion in her head had completely been erased as she picked the small box.
As she opened it, it revealed a necklace with a small pendant of a ballerina hanging from it. The brightest beam had appeared on y/n’s face.
“I know you’ve—never liked the idea of someone giving you jewelry, especially bracelets or necklace because they don’t hold any meaning, but—I think—I know you’re not a dancer but, I think Valerie is your own special project, and—“Tom grinned. “I was saving it to give it to you on the premier but—“
“I love it, I...No, really this… This is perfect,” she whispered looking at it. Tom had once taught her that roses weren’t always basic. And Tom had now proven to her that this didn’t have to be either, because it was them, and it held such a special meaning to her.
She leaned over to kiss his cheek, and he only smiled.
“I was gonna give you a T—“
“As in Troy?” She mocked.
“That’s exactly why I didn’t.”
She laughed. “I love it.”
He looked deep into her eyes and she just waited for it… But he didn’t kiss her.
“Yeah, so, let’s go to sleep,” he quickly stood up, letting her fall flat on the couch.
“Thomas,” she hissed playfully. He had already left, and she could feel his smirk from afar, so she followed after him.
“So, you can have my bed, I’m gonna leave to sleep on the couch because that was my agreement with James,” he explained, picking up his stuff as soon as she got to the room.
She frowned. “No?”
“Yes,” he replied cockily.
“I’m not letting you leave until you bloody kiss me,” she replied.
He paused and then turned with a proud smug smirk, “Then that gives me even more reasons not to kiss you.”
She opened her mouth to complain, but really she was in such a state of shock that not a single word came out.
“Goodnight love,” he grinned as he headed to the door.
“Why are you like this?” She rolled her eyes, giggling.
Tom took a deep breath before staring her down.
“For the love of god, kiss me.”
“No.”
“Why not?”
“One shall never ask for a kiss,” he replied smugly.
“Are you kidding me?” She closed her eyes, not believing it.
“No, you said it yourself,” he grinned. “Not verbally.”
“Just shut up and come here, idiot,” she laughed before pulling him close to her, finally placing her lips on him. It felt like just the very first time, Tom and her had that magic, of making each and every kiss feel like they’ve never kissed before, so unique and so perfectly synchronized with each other.
“Don’t you guys fucking dare to do anything,” James was just walking by with a glass of water. “People need to sleep.”
Clark had mouthed an apology before following after.
Y/n had pulled away and then smirked. “Want to prank him?”
Tom had only given her a weird face.
Y/N knew James was staying right on the next room, and that she definitely was not going to be able to do anything without him hearing, that of course, meant she could piss him off, to get back at him for being a dick.
Y/N explained her idea to Tom, and he immediately accepted, with the sole condition to leave the door open so his life could actually be spared.
Both Tom and y/n had settled in their places, sitting right on top of the bed, right against the headboard which was conveniently against James’ wall.
And so they started.
Both of them repeatedly, and in perfect sync started, Tom hitting his elbows against the headboard, making sure the noise it made was perfectly identifiable as something else as y/n was jumping on the bed.
A faint “no, no, no, no, fucking hell, no,”  had been yelled from the other room.
Tom and y/n tried to hide in their laughter, but proceeded to make it even worse, adding dramatic moans and “oh yes!” “Y/n!” “Right there!” “Tommy!” In between.
“NO FUCKING WAY!” Now it had been louder.
“Jamey, love—“
Tom and y/n smirked and went in even louder, “yes!” “So tight!” “Harder!” “Yes, yes, yes, yes!”
“No! No! No! No! Bloody hell y/n I’m in the bloody next room!” James yelled. “I’m gonna kill you, Thomas!”
And then they heard the loud and quick stumping as James’ door was open as he ran to knock on y/n’s and Tom’s door, but instead, the door was wide open and he could see what actually was happening, Tom and y/n, fully clothed and not even an inch close.
That’s when both y/n and Tom lost it, bursting into laughter.
“YOU GUYS FUCKING SUCK!” James yelled at them before joining in their laughter, red from embarrassment.
Clark had followed right after, laughing with them. “So that—“
Y/n couldn’t stop her laughter, even tears had come down her cheek as she stared at her brother so embarrassed, watching them.
“I can’t believe you fell for that!” Y/N had laughed.
Clark couldn’t stop giggling either.
“And by the way, thanks Clark,” Tom laughed, “you’re a real one.”
“I fucking hate you all,” James rolled his eyes.
“Now let’s go for the real one,” Tom had joked, probably with a death wish, but he quickly regretted it, “no, no, no, I’m joking! I’m joking!”
“You bet your ass you’re joking,” James warned before laughing again, defeated, “I hate you both.”
He had left with Clark laughing behind him, leaving y/n and Tom still laughing at their prank.
Laughing and laughing until they ran out of breath and laughed again.
“Shit, I love you so much,” Tom had said with one last breath after laughing.
“I love you, too,” she had said, “that was the best fake sex I’ve had in my life.”
“Hm, I’m pretty sure I’ve given you the best non fake one, too,” he had said cockily.
“Non fake,” she scoffed.
But then they’ve gone back to laughing, eventually somehow it transformed into kissing, and they had spent the night kissing, and giggling and nothing more, probably because they were aware that it was a very risky situation having James right beside and honestly, they were decent but mostly because they didn’t need more. Just the two of them laying down, and merging their lips together, becoming one with the other, was all they needed.
The next day was rather perfect, filming had gone as smoothly as it could go, and though they kept their distance because they were professionals, y/n could tell there was something different about her and Tom. Not sure what but it felt like things could work out. A ray of hope, if one must say.
There had been more cake, more people congratulating her for her birthday and just—Flowers. Sunflowers here and there, Along with blue hydrangeas. Pretty combination. Tom had made sure to fill up the place. She did love the sunflowers. Her mother calling her, auntie Eliza sending her pink carnations, it was—good. Especially after they told everyone about their prank, that made it even better.
“You do have that fake sex aftermath glow,” Emma had joked.
Perfect day, a perfect day until the sun was yawning down, she had put on her best clothes, and she was nervous. Not sure why though.
Tom had invited the cast as well. Nothing could go wrong, and it definitely wasn’t going to, right? Y/N had thought maybe it was a good day after all.
The place had been packed and the first song playing had been Ironic by Alanis Morissette, James had been the first one to point it out, he really liked that song. And though the combination of friends seemed like the perfect recipe for disaster, y/n thought it had gone calmly. At least at the beginning.
The club seemed to be picked out of y/n’s dreams, an 80’s and 70’s paradise playing the songs she loved to sing along to. There was a karaoke, too, in the background, separate from the dance floor. Honestly, the place was perfect. Fun.
And y/n had ignored Cherry’s presence as long as she could, she hadn’t been rude, but of course she’d been avoiding her, because the moment she saw her, y/n did feel insecure. She had shown up with a tight dress that gave nothing to the imagination, and her hair perfectly falling down her shoulders, her whole body shimmered. She was beautiful, beyond compare, perfect.
“Y/N!” She had greeted her. “I’m so glad I see you, I love your dress, hun, happy birthday!”
Her high pitched tone had only made y/n even more insecure. And y/n had seen her dancing, she’d caught Josh’s attention, it had seemed. Even Asa’s and Gregg’s attention. Because of course she would, the girl was perfect.
“Is Tim your boyfriend?” Cherry had asked y/n.
“What?” Y/N didn’t know if she’d heard right. “No… No, he’s not.”
“Oh, I thought he was!”
“Happy birthday!” Someone had yelled as they popped off a bottle.
Y/N could take care of Cherry later, who was actually picking out mostly everyone’s attention.
“Who is she?” Josh had asked her. “If it weren’t for Emma, I’d say she’s the prettiest girl in the world.”
There was a lot to unpack from Josh’ statement.
“That’s my cousin,” she explained. “She’s single, so why don’t you give it a go?” Y/N had suggested, knowing perfectly that if he did, she’d take away another problem. Because she’d seen Harry anxious the moment Josh had showed up.
Y/N didn’t know why she felt like Harry did know about Josh, she wasn’t sure but the same face Harry was giving Josh was the face Y/N gave to Cherry.
Initially, she had seen Cherry approach Tom, she had whispered  something in his ear, and he had only gulped before walking off to one of his brothers. It made y/n anxious.
“You know what? You should go and sing Jolene,” Emma suggested, y/n could tell that Emma probably was slightly dizzy, as she had dragged her, Clark and Auli’i to the dance floor, a...very strange combination. Y/N was just a bit bothered by this, since she wanted to be with Tom, or rather, she wanted to pull him away from where Cherry was.
“Jolene?” Auli’i laughed. Felt rather weird for y/n hanging out with celebrities. Tom didn’t count… Not in that way, at least.
“Yes, Jolene,” Emma said. “I’m begging you please don’t take my man!”
“Your man?” Auli’i had asked. “As in Tom?”
Y/N chuckled. “Uh...Well….er.”
“Please, you’re dating, right?” She laughed.
Y/N didn’t answer.
“Please, it’s kind of obvious,” Auli’i explained. “You guys have tried to be subtle but we all know it.”
Well, there goes their attempt at trying to be professional. It didn’t matter, honestly. But it did bother her knowing that Cherry was the only girl in there, but thankfully, her own brother had kept Cherry occupied, thank god.
Y/N was also bothered by the fact Tom wasn’t by her side,  just slightly bothered. She guessed, however, that he was having fun with his brothers. She wondered where Timmy was, because all she could see was the guys, and Cherry, at the table getting their asses drunk.
Especially Timmy.
Emma had dragged them back to the place, y/n had  tried to get close to Tom, who had also tried to pull her close to him, but somehow she had been dragged away again. It was annoying, and the night kept going like that. She hadn’t had one single minute with Tom, and it was bothering her. Tom, too, it seemed.
Tom was very bothered by the fact that y/n kept being pulled by her friends, not that they were doing it to specifically bother him, but it was… annoying. Also, having Cherry around, was not a perfect situation, especially because she was insisting on talking to him. What in this world was she trying to do?
He didn’t want to deal with that, he only wanted to have fun. Besides, a club with loud music was definitely not the place to talk. Not on his… girlfriend’s? Birthday celebration.
The night was getting blurry, to him, to everyone. Half past twelve, it was getting darker, and the drinks had come and gone, drink after drink.  Everyone seemed to be having a very good time, and he wasn’t sure but the lights on the club had probably lowered, flashes green and yellow were blinding him. The group was constantly divided, and he had had only a small chance to dance with y/n. The music was buzzing too loud, as he escaped through the crowds, trying to find y/n, and he saw her, dancing with everyone and then, Timmy had dragged her close to him, she didn’t even notice as she danced and sang along to the… 70’s, yeah 70’s song playing. Tom feared it, because it’s not difficult to know when someone wants to kiss the person you’re in love with. Tim was drunk, Tom knew this, and the look in his eyes was saying everything. And though he didn’t see that look on y/n, he feared it.
Tom quickly had pulled her by the hand and finally wrapped his arms around her so they could dance.
Tim had only rolled his eyes but kept dancing with Emma.
“Hi!” y/n had cheered as soon as she saw Tom.
“Hey!”
“Where have you been?” She asked, leaning to his ear.
“Here and there,” he admitted, she only giggled to lean over to kiss him.
Everything was going too quickly, the lights and music were not helping. They had barely danced before Emma had dragged y/n.
“I’m sorry, Tom, but it’s y/n’s and I turn to go to the karaoke!” Emma had said before getting her away.
“You were getting too comfortable,” Tom had barked at Tim.
“Pff,” Tim had scoffed. “You’re scared it’ll happen again?”
“What?” Tom frowned. “I’m-- she’s with me.”
“Yet she slept with me just before you arrived,” Tim had blurted.
Tom had felt the music getting louder, and louder, just as Tim had left and Tom was sunk into the dancing crowd.
He didn’t have to believe him… right?
In the state of shock, he only tried to follow after where Emma and y/n were heading.The karaoke music was playing, Emma had chosen ‘Gimme, Gimme, Gimme (A Man after midnight!)’ for her and y/n to sing, and they had started, happily singing as she was so unaware of what Tom was feeling right now. Not sure if it was anger, disappointment, jealousy, or all at once.
The group had followed after them, too, as they were expectant to see the birthday girl, first receiving a very flattering shot of… Tom thought it was probably vodka as soon as she got to the stage. Emma and her sang and yelled, and the group danced and danced. Emma being such a crowd pleaser, yelling and making them cheer.
Tom couldn't.
Is there a man out there? Someone to hear my prayers…
There was no sight of Tim, that was alright, he guessed. But then it… Tom’s mind went to every single time he’d seen her around Tim. It was so fucking obvious, of course they had slept together, and y/n probably still had feelings for him.
Tom was the only one who wasn’t dancing.
Emma had jumped off the stage to land on Josh, and then without even thinking about it, she had kissed him, right in front of Harry.
Sam and Clark had joined y/n on the stage, everyone was just too bloody drunk, and the song seemed to be never ending. Or maybe Tom hadn’t noticed when it had changed, it sounded like another ABBA song. And it was… ‘Voulez-Vous’. Now it was Y/N, Sam and Clark.
Tom didn’t even realize when Cherry was around him, and it probably was the alcohol working out but he danced with her. Not sure why.
Y/N saw it, right from the stage, but luckily Clark had been kind enough to dance with her as someone else had hopped to the stage to sing with them, now that y/n was definitely not able to sing.
And just as the song was ending, and as the next group of girls had popped on the stage,  she saw it, perfectly happening, Cherry’s lips were on Tom’s.

Big Brother
All Might x Pregnant!Reader
Prompt:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
masterlist | tip jar
Prompt: You’re pregnant with All Might’s baby and to tell him about it you get some kind of cheesy big brother t shirt for Midorya
A/N: I adore everything about this, how could I not?
Tumblr media
Drifting your hand across the multiple different type of fabrics, you had found yourself in the baby isle at the store, your other hand subconsciously placed on your slightly rounded stomach.
You were 16 weeks pregnant, 4 months, and Toshi had no idea. He’d been away for important Hero work for the last 3 months, ironic that the one time you needed him he wasn’t there. You couldn’t blame him, he was the number one Hero, and the people needed their Symbol of Peace.
Every time you spoke to him on the phone you wanted to tell him, but he was so stress all the time with the League of Villains on the rise that you didn’t want to put any additional stress on him.
You also wanted to make sure that you hadn’t just eaten a lot of bread.
Unknowingly, you were staring down at your tummy - stroking it lightly with your thumb. Today he was coming home. He’d send you a text yesterday night, letting you know that he would be home about 7pm.
And here you were, 4pm, supposed to be buying groceries for your home made Ramen that you had an insane craving for; like, someone is going to die kind of craving. But instead you were staring at baby clothes with happy tears in your eyes.
Turning your body away from the extremely soft blankets, you mentally reminded yourself of the ingredients you needed to get. You stopped walking. Directly in front of you was a beautiful baby grow onesie that was a lovely colour of violet and had ‘Baby Bear’ written on it.
Being 16 weeks pregnant, you didn’t know the gender of your and Toshinori’s baby, so it was hard to buy anything that wasn’t gendered or sectioned off to be either pink or blue. It was refreshing to see something that you could buy without knowing yet.
As you grabbed the baby grow and took them off the hanger, almost like a slow reveal from a cheesy game show, you saw a matching set. In a slightly darker shade of purple was another top reading “Brother Bear” and next to that was “Sister Bear”. Honestly, you were expecting to see one saying Daddy Bear, Mummy Bear maybe even a Grandpa and Grandma Bear at this rate.
Then an idea struck you, you hurried along almost forgetting to buy the ingredients that had made you leave your comfortable blanket nest on the couch, and drove home as quickly as you could.
It was a waiting game now.
7:14pm and your stomach was turning, and not in the ‘there’s a tiny human in my stomach’ kind of way. Dinner was simmering and ready to be served at any moment, you started to over think things. “What if he’s already eaten? What if he doesn’t like my Ramen anymore?” you thought inside your own mind, you were crazy, but not crazy enough to start talking to yourself.
Pulling your jumper down, you inspected yourself in the mirror - you weren’t showing that much but if you had worn a smaller top like you normally would, your little bump would pull on your top and make it extremely obvious. Instead you opted for an oversize jumper and a pair of gym shorts that were stretchy enough to not put too much pressure on your tummy.
Your phone pinged, it was Izuku replying to your last text message, “He will love it” is all that he’d said, you saw the preview and clicked your phone to lock again. He wouldn’t mind if you didn’t reply immediately.
Settling for watching your favourite TV show to keep your mind off of things, you snuggled up on the couch again. Almost as soon as your butt touched the soft fabric, you heard the doorbell ring. It took you twice as long to get up recently, but you jumped out of your seat as quickly as you could.
As soon as you’d lowered the handle and pulled the door open slightly, you felt huge muscular arms wrap around your frame. Toshi picked you up off of the floor and squeezed you into a hug, “I’ve missed you!” he yelled through the house.
He was still in his muscle form so his embrace was extremely tight, “Careful!” you smacked his arms and he immediately loosened his grip on you, looking at your face with concern.
“What’s the matter? Are you hurt? Sorry if I hurt you, I didn’t mean to” he started to ramble, a habit that he’d picked up from Midoriya. “No, no, no” you panicked, not wanting him to find out like this, “You’re just very strong” you chuckled, rubbing the back of your neck and looking down to your huge boyfriend, who was still holding you in the air.
“Oh, sorry” he apologised again, letting your feet touch the floor and loosening his grip on you even more, “I guess I’ve forgotten to use restraint with One for All” he smiled down at you.
“Come on then, you big idiot, dinner is ready” you laughed, walking back into your home. Toshinori started to walk through your small doorway until you tutted and turned back to face him. “What did we say about Muscle Form and being in the house?” you scolded him, sounding like a mother already, “Not to do it in the house” he replied in a sing-song type voice, definitely sounding like a toddler.
If the public could see their Symbol of Peace now, you thought.
He reduced himself down to his normal, quirkless size with a puff of steam and closed the door behind him, following you through the house like a lost puppy dog.
After you’d both thoroughly cleaned your bowls of Ramen, you sat shyly opposite Toshi,”God, I’ve missed your cooking” he said, unknowing to him you were stroking the bottom of your tummy again. ‘I hope you enjoyed that too little one’, you thought and smiled both at your boyfriend and your stomach.
“Toshi” you started, not sure where you were going with this, he looked up at you with adoration and nodded for you to carry on. “Come with me, I have something to show you” you smiled, getting up out of your seat and walking to your shared bedroom.
You waited until he’d followed you into the room before you started to rummage into your closet, “I got a present for Izuku and I wanted to know your opinion on it” you explained while you reached for the green present bag.
“My opinion? Why do you need my opinion?” Toshi asked, slightly confused, “I want to make sure it’s the right size” you handed him the bag and then carried on looking through the closet.
You watched out of the corner of your eye as he opened the bag up, took out the top, put the bag on the floor and then unfolded the top with both of his hands. You’d found what you were searching for so you closed the closet door and watched him.
“Brother Bear?” Toshi read aloud, “I don’t understand, why ‘Brother Bear’“ he asked lowering the top to glance towards you and hopefully receive an explanation.
When is eyes focused, he saw what you were holding. His eyes stared at the top, then at you, then back at the top again. “Wait..” he said, looking back at the piece of fabric in his hand, you could see the little calculator in his brain adding everything together.
“Y/N... are you?” was all he asked, you nodded at him, your eyes threatening to leak with happy tears again, “Uh-huh” was all you could manage. “No I need you to say it Y/N” he said, putting the top back into the bag and walking towards you.
“I’m pregnant Toshi” you smiled at him, slightly shaking with excitement.”You’re pregnant?!” he repeated, “I’m pregnant” you shouted, hoping that it would get into his head finally.
“Oh my.. Goodness!” he shouted and in a puff of white steam he transformed into what people know as The Symbol of Peace, smacking his head on the ceiling and making a few particles of plaster onto your freshly vacuumed rub. “What did I say about Muscle Form?!” you laughed, scolding him again.
“But...” he continued, ignoring your lecture, “Why the present for Young Midoriya?” he questioned. You rolled your eyes, “He’s basically your adoptive son, and I’ve already texted him so he’s excited” you laughed.
“Wait, Midoriya knew” he looked off to the side and walked towards you, “And didn’t tell me” he finished, snaking one arm around your waist, and placing a large hand on your swollen belly.
You knew he was going to be a great dad.

Milk & Eggs - Fourteen
Farmer!Bucky x Reader
Words: 1998
Summary: Small Town /Farmer Bucky AU // Reader leaves the city to go live with her grandma. She meets an attractive farmer and, no, they don’t hit it off.
Warnings:  fluff and some angst (maybe)
A/N:  What a ride. This is the Final Chapter of Milk & Eggs. I truly appreciate the feedback. Really - if i didn’t know people were reading this I would’ve never finished it. Thank you, Thank you all. 💛 I have some other stuff in the works so don’t go too far 😏
Master List // Previous Chapter
- - -
You spend the rest of the day catching up and planning the week with Grams. You’d have your usual bakes this week, as well as the Henderson twins’ sweet sixteen birthday cake and scones for a housewife the town over who was hosting a tea party. Once it’s all been delegated, you and Grams sit on the back balcony of the apartment with mugs of tea.
You break the comfortable silence with what’s bothering you. “Grams. Do you think Bucky and I are moving too fast?”
She thinks for a moment before answering. “I don’t think it matters if you know how you feel about someone and they feel the same way. Your grandpa and I dated for three months before he proposed and we were married three weeks later. Some say we rushed into it, but we both knew what we felt and we were on the same page.” She stirs some more honey into her tea. You smile.
Your grandpa was a distant memory for you--he’d passed when you were still young, but you remembered some things about him. He’d been a rancher and had several horses. The memories you did have of him were fond. He’d take you out to do chores with him-and at that time they were fun and you were more than willing. He spoiled you with hot chocolate behind your mom’s back and taught you how to shoot a gun.
“Looking back I would’ve married him in half the time,” she laughs. “Why the sudden concern about how fast you’re going?”
“I made a joke. I said he should get a dog and I’d come over more and he was like ‘You over all the time, come over anymore and you’ll have to move in.’ And then I choked on my coffee and there’s awkward tense silence and then he says he's joking…” you sigh, looking at Grams for guidance. She just chuckles at you. “Don’t laugh, Grams. We had this weird tense talk on the way back about defining our relationship and if we know each other enough and me not being able to see the future--”
“You never have been one to plan ahead, dear,” Grams interrupts. She catches your questioning look. “It’s true. You’d climb a tree effortlessly for the view and then all but lose your mind trying to figure out how to get down. You did things by the seat of your pants. But you always figured it out. You moved here pretty spur of the moment too, come to think of it.”
You chew your lip, “Ugh. That’s your cryptic way of telling me….” You pause and look to her to finish the thought. She laughs and shrugs, “Maybe it’s okay to not have it planned out. You two seem to have a good balance of making each other happy and being honest with each other.”
You nod, but don’t respond.
The next evening there was a knock at 6:30 sharp. You shuffled down the stairs to meet Bucky, who was dressed in his nice jeans and a button up with a bouquet of lilies. Your favorite.
“Hey slick,” he grinned at the sight of you. “You look beautiful. Got these for you and Sue,” he says handing you the flowers.
You blush, “Thanks Buck. You look nice, too. Come on up.” You turn to lead him up the stairs, but he grabs your hand.
“Can we—can I just say something before we go up there?”
You nod, he sighs and runs a hand through his hair and you immediately think the worst.
“I really, really care about you. I’m sorry for how things went yesterday … I get what you mean about not seeing the future right now. When I was in the service, we lived day to day. We’d have plans and ideal outcomes, but then shit would happen and plans were just plans, so I get it. Nothing ever really goes as planned. I don’t need a label or a detailed plan for the future. I’m sorry I badgered you for one. I guess I just wanted you to know that I-I’m in this.” He waves his hand in between the two of you. “As fast or as slow as you wanna go, I’m in.”
Your heart thumps in your chest as his words sink in. You stand quietly for a minute, long enough for Bucky to start looking uncomfortable. “Bucky… I-”
“Oh hello James!” Grams’ voice calls down to the two of you. “You guys come on up, I’m taking the food out of the oven now.”
You see your out and start up the stairs, “Uh, Let’s go.”
Bucky sighs, defeatedly, but follows you up the stairs.
Dinner was delicious, the conversation was much less serious with Grams present. Bucky insisted on doing the clean up--he made Grams relax and almost didn’t even let you help. When the dishes were done and dried, the conversation meandered until Grams let out a big yawn and bid the two or you goodnight. The silence that followed was deafening.
No sooner than Grams had shut her bedroom door, Bucky turns and asks, “Can we pick up where we left off?” You swirl the wine in your glass and nod slowly, but don’t answer so Bucky continues. “I’m in this. Wherever you want this to go and however fast.” Another stretch of silence as the two of you lean against the counter tops, it's getting awkward. “Are you going to say anything?”
“Honestly, there was so much of that with Spencer and then it all blew up in my face. I’m … scared to make plans again-- to have those kind of feelings again just for them to be ruined.”
As you say it, it’s almost as if it replays in front of you. The initial swell of feelings when he touched you and kissed you. The late nights spent building imaginary houses and naming imaginary kids. But this time as the memories play back, they’re tainted. Soured with another memory, this one painful. You know Bucky isn't anything like Spencer, he’s proven that to you.
As if reading your mind, Bucky breaks through your fog, “I’m not him. You know that right?”
“Of course I know you're not him Buck-“ you sigh, planting your hands on your forehead. You had to make a choice and you know in your soul you can’t live with a life of what ifs. “So let’s do the damn thing.”
Bucky’s face broke into that blinding smile. “You sure?”
“I’m sure I’d regret it if we didn’t try,” you say raising your glass.
Bucky clinks his beer to your glass, before leaning over to kiss you on the top of the head. “Let’s do the damn thing.”
---
Two months later
“Slick, what should I pack for this trip?” You hear hangers sliding as he searches for clothing in his closet. “Slick? I need help.”
You sigh, putting down your book and sliding off the bed. “What do you mean? We already ordered your suit for the wedding.”
Bucky stands in his closet, shirtless in a pair of old grey sweats. “For all the other stuff we’re gonna do.”
You wrap your arms around his waist. “Jeans, maybe a few nicer shirts. A hoodie. Bring your bathing suit-- our AirBnB has a private hot tub.”
Bucky hums, “Seems like you’ve planned this whole trip down to the minute. Please show me the itinerary.’
“Nope! I got big plans and they are top secret confidential.”
Bucky turns to face you, hands firmly on your hips. “I bet I can get them out of you.” You cock your eyebrow. “I was in the military, I know torture.”
You throw your head back to laugh, but that was a mistake. Bucky starts assaulting your very ticklish neck with kisses. You try to push away but he has you in a vice grip.
“Oh. I didn’t know you were ticklish,” he deadpans. His fingers find your sides and though you squirm, you can’t get away.
“You can’t break me,” you choke out between laughs. Bucky doesn’t believe you--Hell you don’t even believe you--so he increases his attack, zeroing in on an armpit. “Ah-st-stop. I can’t breathe.”
Bucky stops immediately and you bolt out of the closet, “Liar!!” he shouts, following you out, laughing.
You’re trying to catch your breath as you sputter, “Finish packing. Please. We gotta get up early tomorrow to make it to the rehearsal on time.”
Bucky narrows his eyes, “This is a trap. But fine. I’ll leave you alone. All night. No snuggles, definitely no sex.”
You roll your eyes, “I know where the blankets are-- don’t you worry about me, worry about packing.” Bucky eyes you for so long you think he might attack again, but instead he turns back into the closet with a huff.
---
You and Bucky left the next morning for Seattle, the both of you giddy for a weekend away. Once you hit the city, Bucky lets you drive to the quaint AirBnB you chose for the trip. It was a cute little mother-in-law cottage on one of Seattle's surrounding islands and it was right on the water. Bucky was itching to know your super secret itinerary, but you wouldn’t budge on the surprise you had planned for him. You promised he’ll know more after the wedding.
The wedding was gorgeous. Brad and Aaron were both so handsome and their vows made you bawl your eyes out, which just made Bucky pull you closer and kiss the top of your head gently. Spencer was there, a plus one of a mutual friend, but he kept his distance from you and Bucky, so the night succeeded in being very romantic and relaxed. You spent most of it in Bucky’s arms on the dance floor, which is exactly where you wanted to be. He was the last person you thought would have dance skills, but again he surprises you by being quite nimble on his feet. He twirls and dips you until you're both dizzy and in a fit of giggles.
The next day, despite your busy late night, you and Bucky are up bright and early. Bucky was as excited as a kid at Six Flags, begging you to just break the surprise to him early. You refused of course- it was fun watching him squirm. Bucky questioned your every turn on your way to the surprise.
“So, where are we going?” he asks for the 30th time.
“Bucky. You will see when we get there,” you say smugly.
“I wanna know now.”
“It’s okay to want,” you retort.
Ten minutes later, you turn into the parking lot of Seattle Whale Watch tours. You look at Bucky, “We’re here.” Bucky’s eyes are wide.
“We’re going whale watching?” he blinks slowly. “How’d--you remembered? I said that forever ago!”
“Of course I remember Bucky. It was a dream of yours… I wanted to make it come true.”
Bucky just grinned. “You’re the best.”
Bucky’s practically leaning off the boat with the biggest grin ever on his face. It’s been a particularly busy day as whale traffic goes, so Bucky was elated to say the least. “This is amazing. Wow. He turns to you. “Thank you, slick. I-That was better than I imagined.”
You grin, so pleased that he’s happy. “I’m glad you liked it.”
He pulled you to stand in between him and he railing, “I told you that you knew me,” Bucky said smugly in your ear.
You smile as you turn to face him, “You were right, Buck. But there is something about me that you don’t know.”
Bucky purses his lips, “Doubtful doll.”
You shrug, but continue anyway, “I love you.”
Bucky blinks. “Well shit. I did not know that.” Somehow, Bucky’s smile for you was brighter than it was for the whales and the sparkling blue of his eyes putting the ocean around him to shame. “I love you.”

High School Reunion
Chris Evans x Reader
I saw @stargazingfangirl18 post an august writing challenge and was really inspired by the dialogue and scenario prompts. Here’s the first one I’ll be posting a few more soon.
Prompts:Pretending to date & “Oh god. did I say that out loud?”
Warnings: Not really, just talk of having a dark past but not getting into what it was.
F/n - Friends name     O/F - Other or another friends name
“Please Chris!!! I’ll do anything!”, Y/n begged as she took the remote from him turning the TV off so he’ll give his full attention to her. “Y/n you're a famous actress. Your old classmates are already going to be jealous of you. Why do you need me to pretend to be your date?”Chris sighs, finally turning to her. “Cause I really want to rub it into their faces that I’m more successful and have a hot date, That's none other than formal Captain America. Please.”. “SO you think I’m Hot.”, Chris chuckles at her. Y/n glares at him , “ You know what Fine! I’ll go ask Sebastian then!”. Chris' smile fell a little bit but he kept it up. Truth be told he didn’t want to go cause he knows his feeling for her would only get deeper. He’s liked her since they first meet on one of the sets for the Avengers. They grew close fast. And his feelings grew faster, but was too scared to act on it. He didn’t want to lose her, so he thought his safes bet was to just stay friends with her. Which turned to basically best friends, to where she barged into his house begging him to go with her to her high school reunion as her fake date. Chris grabbed her arm as she went to get up and leave. “Wait!..No. I’ll go.”, Chris agrees not wanting to think about Sebastian and her all close. Even though he knows Seb wouldn’t do anything. He knows about Chris's feelings and has tried to get him to just finally ask Y/n out. “Really?!”, Y/n jumps on to the couch next to him. Chris sighs, dropping her arm as he nods. Y/n lets out a squeal as she pulls him in for a hug. “Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!”. Chris couldn’t help but to close his eyes cherishing the way she feels in his arms. ‘What the fuck am I getting myself into.’, Chris thinks. As the hug lasts a bit longer as a wet nose nudges itself in between them. “My bad dodger. How dare we not pay attention to you.”, Y/n says pulling away from Chris to pet the fluff ball. Chris couldn’t help the laugh leave his lips watching as Dodger jumped up at Y/n licking her as she giggled and pet him. “It seems like he didn’t want our attention but your attention.”. Y/n lets out more giggles as dodger climbs up between them. “Can we take him with us,Please!”, Y/n says hugging dodger close both looking at him with puppy dog eyes. “No, Y/n. He would have to stay in a pet friendly hotel or airbnB. And i don’t want to leave him alone in an unfamiliar place.”, Chris says as he snatches the remote back from where she sat it and turns the TV back on. Y/n let out a whine , “Don’t worry dodger I’ll sneak you in my luggage.”. “I doubt you can fit him in.”, Chris shakes his head laughing at her. But it did melt his heart how close they were Y/n and Dodger both loved each other so much, it put a smile on Chris's face. Y/n gasp lightly hitting Chris , “are you calling him fat? Rude!”. Chris lets out a scoff shaking his head at her, “I can’t with you.”. “When is this reunion thing? When do we need to leave and how long are we staying?”. “It’s next Saturday , we will leave Friday after noon and get their late afternoon and we can chill. And I can show you round where I grew up. You can leave Sunday and head back home if you want but I’m going to stay an extra day or two to see my family and some old friends.”, y/n explains as she lays back and rests her feet on his lap. Chris just nods as he unties her shoes, “If you're going to put your feet on me could you at least take off your shoes first?”. Y/n just giggles as dodger cuddles up next to her, “Why? When I know you’ll take them off for me.”. He throws her shoes to the side, “I wonder why I’m friends sometimes.”. “I’ll stay with you. I’d feel bad about going with only for you to have to travel back alone.”, all he got back was a grumble that made him turn to her to see her eyes fluttering shut. Chris smiles as he watches her and dodger both fall asleep. He grabs a blanket and throws it over her and turns the TV down some. He tried watching whatever was on but he couldn’t help but let his eyes roam back over her . He cursed himself out, knowing that going with her might end with him broken even more not having her as his and only having to pretend to do all this stuff he really wants to do with her anyway.
Saturday
Chris checks himself over once more in the mirror in their hotel room as Y/n gets ready in the bathroom. They got to her hometown yesterday at around 4 ish. They spent the day with Y/n showing Chris around and telling him stories of her growing up. Ending with dinner at this diner Y/n told him her grandma used to take her to every Sunday for dinner. That night his heart broke a little bit more when the lady you owned the shop came to talk to Y/n and asked her if he was her boyfriend. And laugh and say no that they were just friends. Chris tried to hide the heartbreak that flashed over his face. Not knowing not only the lady saw it but Y/n did too.  Chris sighs checking over his hair one last time before checking the time, “Come on Y/n we have to get going.”. “Okay , I’m almost done.”, Y/n says. She touches up her lipstick as she checks herself over once more. She sighs thinking over tonight. Somewhat regretting asking Chris to come. She asked him because he was the only person she trusted the most and knew would help her out. But as the got here hanging out and Mrs. Johnson asked about him, all those feelings she felt for coming rushing back. Feelings that she buried deep down. Scared that she would lose him, thinking he doesn’t feel the same. But the look on his face when she told Mrs. Johnson, they were just friends, gave her hope that he does. “Y/n?”Chris's voice cuts her out of her deep thoughts. Taking a final breath she headed out of the bathroom. “Okay, I’m ready.”, she says as she checks over her clutch making sure everything was in it. When she looked up she was met with Chris standing there , looking very handsome, mouth open as his eyes roamed up and down her. “Wow , You look absolutely beautiful.”. Y/n blushes looking down as she slips her heels on. “Thank you….Come on let's get this over with.”.  Chris laughed as he walked out of the room to the elevator, “If you didn’t want to go then why are we here? ….Aw were you just trying to spend time with me. Princess , if you wanted to have me to yourself all you had to do was ask.”. Chris pokes at her sides. Y/n lets out a small laugh , slapping his hand away. “You wish.”.  Chris laughs wrapping an arm around her waist pulling her closer to him. Y/n couldn’t help the light blush going over her cheeks as she melts into his hold. Chris bites his lip as he watches her melt into him. His heart starts beating faster with hope that maybe she does like him the way he does to her. The elevator dinging and the doors opening pulled him out of his thoughts as he guided her out to the front of the hotel. Outside waits an Audi R8. A valet guy walks over to them handing Chris the keys. Y/n stands there shocked as Chris opens the passenger's side door for her. “What? You said you wanted to make them all jealous, so I figured we should also ride in style.”. Y/n giggles walking over and getting in. Chris rushes over to the driver's side heading to the school. “It’s so pretty.” Y/n says running her hand over the inside, “Thank you Chris. For not only this but coming with me.”. “ It’s no problem, Can I ask why you make all your classmates jealous?”. Y/n looks down picking at her nails, “Well it’s not really wanting to make them jealous, I wanted to come and see some friends. But I didn’t want to go alone. I didn’t have the best high school experience. It was actually quite dark and I was bullied a lot. The few friends I did have, I only met them senior year. But other than that I went through the years with no friends and no one really talked to me. Even though it’s been years and I've come successful and all this, I’m still a bit scared to see all those people again. … Sorry I know it sounds stupid.”. Chris drives with one hand as he reaches over and grabs her hand. He slightly squeezes her hand comforting her. “It’s not. I understand and I’m here for you.”. Y/n smiles at him, squeezing his hand back.
It took only a couple more minutes to get to the school. Y/n looked up at the building that hasn’t changed one bit. A place that brought a lot of plain that she just wants to forget. Right now is not the time. Now is to show those people what she has become and how she made it in life. It sounds a bit rude but after everything she’s been through she feels like she deserves to drag a bit. About her career , her house, her life, her man. She shakes her head reminding herself that Chris isn’t hers he’s just here to be a good friend. “You okay?''Chris asks, grabbing her chin and making her look at him. Y/n nods, “Yeah let's do this. I gave a feeling we will only have an hour or 2 before the Paparazzi come to get pictures.”. Chris smiles at her getting out and rushing over to her side and opening the door for her. Y/n could already feel the stairs of people watching her step out of the Audi. She couldn’t hold back the smirk on her face as Chris wraps his arm around her waist as they make their way to the gym where the reunion is being held. All around were old classmates who made fun of her with their jaws open as they watched her walk into the gym. Some didn’t think she would show being a big star now and no one expected to see her walk in on the arm of Chris Evans. As they walk in Y/n spots one of her friends , the other sadly couldn’t make it. She squeals as she grabs Chris' hand dragging him other to them. “F/n!”, she basically screamed, rushing over to her hugging her. “Y/n!”, she yelled back hugging her. “I thought you weren’t coming?”. “Yeah sorry I had to keep it quiet with the paparazzi and everything.”, Y/n explains. “Although we might be here for a bit before having to leave. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone already announced us being here.”. “Us?”, F/n ask. “Oh sorry” , Y/n pulls away from her, “F/n this is Ch-”. “Chris Evans! Shit Y/n you really did make it!”, F/n jokes lightly punching her. Her and Chris laugh as he stands behind her and rests an arm around her. “I’m sorry , It’s just my son who is a huge fan of Captain america.. I’m f/n by the way.”,  she says sticking her hand out to him. Chris smiles, shaking her hand ,”It’s okay , I totally understand. We are here for a bit. We should grab lunch or something, I’d love to meet the little guy.”. F/n laughs shaking her head. “Oh no I couldn’t ask you guys to step into your schedule.”. Y/n reaches out grabbing her hand, “F/n it's okay its why we are staying a bit. I want to overdose Chris to you and O/F and my family of course. Pulse would take Jack's mind off of everything for a bit.”. F/n pulled Y/n in for another hug thanking her. They pull away and she wipes her face, “Wow he must be a keeper if you want to introduce him to O/F.”. They both laugh. Chris wraps both arms around Y/n ,” Should I be scared?”. “Probably , O/f is the crazier protective one out of us.”, F/n explains. “Oh great.”, Chris joked, sending both women into a laugh fit. After they clams down and started talking a bit , “I’m going to go get a drink you want one?”, he turned to Y/n who nodded and said please. He turned to f/n who thanked him but said she was good. They watched as he walked over the drink stand. “Wow, Y/n! That man is so in love with you!”, F/n whistles. Y/n laughs shaking her head. Her heart a bit wishing it was true. But Chris was just doing that stuff to make it believable. “I mean the way he looks at you. Even when you're not looking , would make anyone believe in soulmate or true love.”, she says. Y/n bits her lip looking down , “I don’t know if that’s how he feels but that’s how he makes me feel.”. F/n turns to her smirking , “ Does this mean Jacks getting a little cousin soon.”. Y/n gasp swatting at her. F/n’s smile falls as she looks ahead to where Chris went. “Oh no Jessie is going up to him.”. Y/n’s face fell as she looked over to see Jessie , one of the people who made her life a living hell, talking to Chris. Jealous stringed at her. She trusted Chris. He wouldn’t do anything like that to hurt her. What tug at her was the thought that kept screaming at her that he wasn’t really hers. A small smile makes its way on her face as she watches Chris deny her and walk back off to them. He hands her drink. With his free hand he wraps it around her pulling her into and kissing her cheek. Y/n tried holding  back her laugh as she watched Jessie's face fall in shock. But F/n didn’t hold it back. “Oh that was great.”. Causing Y/n to finally break. The cooled down as F/n got a call exposing herself. Y/n rested her head on Chris shoulder looking up at him. “Thank you for that. It was great to see her face like that.”, she giggles. Chris just smiled, shaking his head, “Oh the things I do for you. I wonder sometimes why I do.”. “Cause you love me.”, y/n flutters her eyes at him giggling. “More than you’ll ever know”,Chris says quietly while taking a drink. But Y/n style couches it. Her face falls as her heart starts beating every faster , “What?”. Chris looks down at her shocked, “Oh god, did I say that out loud?”. Y/n nods pulling away to fully turn to look at him. “Do you mean it?”. Chris sighs cursing himself out. He knew he would have to tell her at some point but not right now. “Yes, I’m sorry Y/n. I don’t want to ruin what we have, But I’m in love with you so much I feel like I’m going crazy. I understand if you don’t feel the same and if y-”. Y/n cut him off pulling him down to kiss her. He wraps his arms around her pulling her as close as he can kissing her back. They pull away but not far. Y/n keeps her hands on his face as they rest their forehead on each other. “I love you too, Chris.”. Chris smiles as he pulls her in kissing her again. This one is getting more heated. He pulled away grabbing her hand. “Come on lets get out of here.”.  “Wait I need to say bye to F/n!”, she squeals as he pulls her to the doors. “Just text her, she’ll understand plus we’ll see her later.”. He pulls her closer to him as they rush out the doors past the props showing up to the car. Rushing to the hotel.
Y/n smiled at herself in the mirror taking in her appearance in the white gown. Thinking about that night their two idiot self's finally told each other how they feel. Now here she stands in a beautiful white dress about to marry the man of her dreams in front of all her friends and family. Smiling, she grabs the final things in her shoes. f/n and O/f both made her wait to put them on last but she didn’t know why and didn’t argue. She opens the box and pulls out the simple but beautiful shoes. Her eyebrows scrunch in confusion as she sees something on the bottoms. Turning them around she chokes on tears as she sees the writing on them. “From friend to best friend to my love and now I will get to call you the best thing I can. My wife.”.

Main six + courtiers in Hell's Kitchen AU with MC as Gordon Ramsey
Hi, sorry for being absent for so long. Besides the school starting, there have been some things going on in my private life that didn't really motivate me to write. I can't post new chapters every week like usual, but I'll try to post as frequently as I can. Sorry for not doing any of the requests. I had this chapter as a wip for a while, so I decided to finish it. Hope you enjoy it!
-------
Previously on Hell’s Kitchen:
Chef MC tasted the contestants’ signature dishes and, needless to say, they were not pleased.
“How can you serve me this garbage!?!” MC shouted, “I wouldn’t feed a stray dog with this crap!”
Both teams had problems in the kitchen
“You moron, what are you doing?” Nadia asked, frowning like a madman, “Where is the chicken?”
And one team had a little throwback because of one of the cooks
“Volta, what in the world are you doing?” MC shouted, not believing their eyes, “That food is for the customers!”
But now all of that is set aside as the new day and new opportunities arise. Will the chefs be able to rise to the top and win the luxurious restaurant in Vesuvia, or will they crumble at the pressure?
“I want to go back home,” Portia sobbed as she hugged her knees, “I miss my grandma.”
  “Wake up sleepyhea-” one of the MC’s sous-chefs, Scout, stopped midsentence as she stared at Valerius’ bed.
He woke up as he rubbed his eyes, feeling like his head is a lot lighter. As soon as he put his head on the sheets he felt something strange. He lowered his head, only to be greeted by the sight of his braid cut off, right next to him.
“My deep apologies for the inconvenience,” Valdemar said as they put a pair of scissors down, walking out of the room to change, “I just can’t have some of your hair in the food we prepare, so I had to make some sacrifice,” they grinned from ear to ear as they stared at Valerius’ pale face, “Oh, don’t you worry, It’ll grow back before you know it.”
 ****
 “Good morning everyone!” MC said as they watched all of the chefs come into the room, “Oh, Valerius, nice hairstyle!” they chuckled as they stared at him who still hasn’t recovered from the trauma, “Who did your hairstyle? I must say I’m quite impressed.”
“Valdemar, they, I, I was sleeping and, and, that plebian-” he was interrupted midsentence by Valdemar.
“No need to thank me, for my dearest colleague it’s free of charge,” they smiled, enjoying Valerius’ reaction.
“Anyway,” MC said, as they walked up to one table, “Today I will be seeing how good your pallets are and,” their gaze flew over Valerius, Vulgora, Nadia, Lucio and Portia, “Judging by how many smokers are here, my expectations are low,” they turned their head to Julian, “Sit this round out.”
Julian nodded as he walked to the back.
“Valerius, Nadia, come here,” they took blindfolders and headphones, putting them on the two of them, “Can you hear me?” MC shouted at the two of them, “Good, now,” they took a plate of foods from Scout, “Let’s begin, shall we?” they raised one spoon, putting it into Nadia’s mouth, “Boiled potato.”
“Is this pepper?” Nadia asked after she swallowed the potato.
MC raised one of Nadia’s headphones, saying: “Boiled potato.”
They walked over to Valerius, who wasn’t lucky enough to guess either. Surprisingly enough, Nadia, as well as Valerius, both guessed all of the exotic foods right, with Nadia bringing 2 and Valerius bringing one point to their team.
Next, it was Vlastomil’s and Asra’s turn. Vlastomil guessed all of the vegetables and fruits, while Asra only recognized a date as well as ham, however, Vlastomil got a heart attack as soon as he realized he ate meat.
“But I’m vegan!” he shouted.
“Still, you’re not cooking for vegans!” MC explained, “You just have to know what you’re cooking, I don’t give a fuck what you eat.”
Overall Asra got 2 and Vlastomil got 3 points.
Now it was Valdemar’s and Lucio’s turn. MC hesitantly put the food in Valdemar’s mouth, trying their best to avoid those sharp teeth.
“Brocolli. Pear. Tangerine. Lamb’s brain,” Valdemar simply stated after they’ve tasted all of the food.
“Wow,” MC said, “Impressive.”
Lucio, on the other hand, wasn’t as good.
“Um, broccoli, this, this is an… apple. Oh, I know what this is, it’s orange! This, this tastes like bacon!”
“Not even close,” MC said as they took off his headphones, “Go back in your line. Portia, Vulgora, come here.”
Portia, just like Valdemar, guessed all of the food right, Vulgora half as much.
“Now it all comes down to this,” MC said as they put on headphones.
Volta guessed 2 right, but Muriel guessed all of them!
“The six of you have just barely won!” MC said, “Change your clothes, I’m taking all six of you somewhere special. As for the five of you,” MC gestured at the brooms, “I want this place crystal clear!”
“Yes, chef!”
  While the winners prepared themselves to finally go outside, the losing team went straight on to cleaning the hell’s kitchen.
“Wonder where we’ll go?” Portia said as she walked with Nadia outside.
“Honestly, any place is better than here,” she commented as she lit her cigarette, offering Portia one.
She happily took it and, once Nadia lit it for her, continued, “He told us to put on swimsuits, maybe a beach?”
“I sure hope it is!” Lucio said as he walked up to the two of them, to which Nadia only rolled her eyes.
 “I can’t believe I was put in the same team as my ex-husband!” Nadia frowned at the camera, clearly pissed.
****
  “Is everyone ready?” MC asked as they watched the other three walk out of the hell’s kitchen.
“Yes, chef!” the six of them said in unison.
“Very well then, let’s get going,” MC said as they gestured to a luxurious limousine.
****
“Finally!” Lucio puffed his chest as he stared at the camera, “A car worthy of me!”
****
 “Can you guess where we’re going?” MC asked the six of them.
“To the beach?” Portia and Nadia guessed.
“No, but you’re close,” MC said as they stared at others.
“A pool?” Muriel asked.
“Nadia and Portia were closer.”
“To the yacht?” Julian asked.
MC smiled and, with a small nod said: “You’ve guessed it!
****
“Oh my gosh, this will be just like my childhood!” Portia happily exclaimed, “The wind blowing through my hair, the smell of saltwater in the air…” she rambled on and on, “Ohh, I can’t wait!”
****
 “Can you imagine what the five of them are doing right now?” Mc asked as they sipped on champagne.
“Oh, I definitely wouldn’t want to be in their shoes,” Julian added as he finished his glass.
  “Alright, now that that’s out of the way,” Valdemar said as they put the brooms in their place, “We need to make a strategy on how to win.”
“We would have won, had someone not guessed only 2 foods right,” Valerius said, eyeing Volta not so discreetly.
“Who are you to talk?” Vulgora said, getting annoyed, “You only guessed one right! You did the worst out of all of us!” it seemed that it was enough to shut Valerius up, but Vulgora continued, “And you! How did you not recognize ham of all things?”
“Because I’m vegan!” Vlastomil shouted, clearly offended.
“This can’t do,” Valdemar said with a frown, “Let’s get one thing straight,” they started talking right after the four of them shut up, “We don’t like each other,” to that all of them nodded, “But the only way we can stay in this competition is to make sure that those six are the ones who always lose.”
“Makes sense,” Vulgora said.
“So you propose that we get rid of 6 of them first?” Valerius asked.
“Exactly, then we can deal with each other later,” Valdemar nodded and, after a short pause, added, “Oh, also, I have no wish to win this competition.”
“WHAT?” the other four asked, not believing what they heard.
“You see, I have absolutely no knowledge about cooking, at all, as a matter of fact, I’m a surgeon.”
“Why did you get here then?” Vlastomil asked, confused.
“Because I made a bet with my colleague, that ginger guy in the opposite team. If I were to get further in this competition than him, he’d have to buy me three rare specimens for my research, but if he were to win I’d have to get him 30 jars filled with leeches,” they finished their sentence, rolling their eyes.
“So, what you’re saying is that you wouldn’t mind if we were to vote you off as soon as that idiot is out?”
“I’d be more than grateful,” Valdemar said with a grin.
“Seems good enough!” Volta said as she nibbled on one of the cookies. “Wait,” she asked as she ate the whole cookie in one bite, “Why were you accepted in the Hell’s kitchen?”
“Same reason why ex-husband and wife were put in the same team,” they simply shrugged, “For the drama.”
“Oh, how much I wish they were to lose,” Valerius said in front of the camera, still thinking about his braid.
 “We’re opening hell’s kitchen!” MC said as everybody got to their places in the kitchen, “Don’t disappoint me again! Also, we’re one waiter short and since you are the losing team,” MC took a glance at five of them, “Valerius, you’ll be a replacement.”
Valerius only nodded as he left the kitchen.
“Vlastomil, you’ll be at the meat section,” Valdemar simply stated as they sharpened some of the knives.
“But I-” he wanted to protest, but Vulgora interrupted them.
“Stop complaining and go!”
 “Alright, let’s begin,” Asra said as they read the first order, “Let’s just put the same effort as yesterday.”
“This will be a breeze,” Asra grinned at the camera, “The opposite team is two cooks short! There is just no way we can lose,” as soon as Asra said that a smile disappeared on their face, “Unless…”
“OH FUCK!” Lucio shouted, not taking their eyes off the burning pan, “Um… I may have made an oopsie…”
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!?” Nadia shouted, mortified, “Someone, stop the fire!” she demanded.
Everyone gasped in shock, with Asra walking as far away from the fire as they could while Portia pulled Julian towards her before his clothes could have caught on fire as well. Muriel irked his head, trembling at the sight of fire slowly spreading to the other cookware. The fear didn’t stop him though, as he quickly found the fire extinguisher, stopping the fire.
“Oh, thank you,” Nadia said, hugging Muriel tightly, “You’ve saved us!”
“Why do I smell fire?” MC asked as they walked over to the kitchen, “Nadia, explain!”
“Lucio started a fire.”
“Oh my God,” MC said as they buried their head in both of their hands, “Did anyone get hurt?” they asked calmly, not bothering to move.
Nadia quickly took a glance at Lucio and Muriel. She knew very well that Lucio would complain like a little child had he gotten a single bruise. Muriel didn’t seem hurt either, in fact, he turned away, going back to his station as if nothing happened.
“No, sir, everyone is fine,” Nadia stated.
“Nadia, go back to the station, as for you Lucio,” MC raised their head, staring at Lucio as if they were about to murder him on the spot, “I want the oven spotless and you as far away from it as POSSIBLE!!!”
“Yes, yes, sir,” Lucio visibly shook as he got to work.
 “Come on, this is our chance!” Vulgora shouted as they cut some meat, handing it over to Vlastomil, “DON’T,” they said before Vlastomil could even start complaining.
“Is the shrimp pasta done?” Scout asked.
“We’re on it!” Volta said as Valdemar gave her a prepared sauce. She carefully poured it over the pasta, fighting the urge not to stuff her face with the food like yesterday. As soon as they were done, she carefully carried it over to Scout, who nodded in approval.
 Soon enough Valerius walked over, picking up the plate, taking a glance at both kitchens. Sure, his team was very slow, with only a couple of dishes out, but the other team was somehow far worse. He smirked as he walked over to the table.
“Your order,” he said as he put the plate down, “I hope you enjoy it,” he said with a smile plastered on his face as he walked over to the other table.
“Good evening,” he said as he eyed the customers, “How can I help you?”
“Oh, hi there~” a woman greeted him happily as she played with the blue fabric of the dress, “So, I’d like…” she stared at the menu for a moment, then pointed out at one dish, “This. As for the drink…” she thought for a moment, “I’d like some champagne!”
“Champagne along with that food?” Valerius asked, disappointed, as well as one of the men sitting with the girl.
“Seriously Star,” an older man shrugged, “Everyone knows that red wine would go much better with it.”
“Oh, then I’ll take the red wine,” she said, a bit embarrassed that she had to be corrected by her colleague.
“Agreed,” Valerius said as he wrote down her order, “What would you like, sir?”
“I’d like some pasta, no meat,” he added, “I’m a vegetarian.”
Valerius wrote the order down and, just before he could hand the order over to the opposite team, one of the customers called for him. He turned around, hiding his annoyance, “Is something the matter, sir?” he asked.
“Look at this crap!” the woman gestured at her plate, “It looks disgusting!”
Although he’d gladly agree with the woman, just because that would put the opposite team in a terrible position, Valerius knew there was nothing wrong with the dish. “My apologies, but I don’t seem to understand. What are you complaining about?”
“It’s too hot for me to eat it! And look at the colours!”
Valerius took another glance at the plate and after a moment continued talking with less patience, “What do you want me to do? To blow your food? Just wait for it to cool down like all of the civilized people for God’s sake. Stop wasting my time,” he said as he went back into the kitchen, handing Scout all of the orders.
“Hey, I’m not done!” she shouted as she walked over to chef MC, “Sir, you need to put your waiters in their place!” she shouted at MC, “I have never been disrespected like this in my entire life!”
“What a coincidence, I can say the same,” Valerius commented, unbothered, as he took the plates, walking away from her, adding, “Apologies for not cooling your food down.”
“See?” she pointed at Valerius, “I demand-”
“Miss, I’m working here,” MC said with a deep frown on their face, “Nobody has the time to listen to your stupid complaints,” they added as they wrote something down on the paper, “Please return when you have a reasonable complaint, if not, go to the psychiatrist and solve your issues. Don’t lash out your anger on my staff.”
“How bold of you to complain about my anger!” she wanted to continue, but as soon as she saw MC’s cold face, stopped, going back to her seat.
“Look at that idiot,” Vulgora laughed as they chopped some meat, taking a glance at Volta who was devouring the returned food, “Hey, what are you doing?!? Get back to your station!!!”
“Oh come on,” MC frowned as they watched Volta go back, “Speed it up, speed it up! Stop wasting time on the leftovers!”
Volta nodded, her mouth still full of food.
“My grandma would cook faster than all of you!” they shouted, taking a glance at how the other kitchen was doing, and oh boy, they had what to see.
The other kitchen was a mess. Portia accidentally spilt the boiling water on poor Lucio’s arm and it seemed that Asra and Muriel enjoyed the sight while Nadia and Julian pretended to not hear Lucio’s screams.
“Are you alright?” Portia asked, worried, “I’m so sorry!” she said as she grabbed his hand, only to find out that Lucio was pretending.
“Got ya!” he shouted like a little kid as he showed her his metal arm, “As for you,” he turned to the other three, but before he could make any remark, he noticed MC looking at them, their face turning redder and redder every moment.
“What in the world is going on?!?” they shouted, losing all of their patience. Within a moment the restaurant was closed and all of the chefs shivered in front of MC.
  “You were terrible, disgusting!” they shouted and paused, trying to calm themselves down, “You,” they turned to Volta, “I believe we’ve talked about not eating food during the job.”
“Yes, but Volta couldn’t help herself,” she quickly explained, “Volta is sorry-” she would have continued, but MC raised their hand, signalling for her to stop.
“Your team was so terribly slow-”
“But we were two cooks short! Of course, we’d be slow!” Vulgora protested.
“I know that,” MC stated calmly, “You were also most complimented, especially the meat dishes. Who was in the meat section anyway?” they asked as all of them pointed at Vlastomil. At the sight of him, MC couldn’t help but forget all of the rage they felt. After a good minute of laughter, they continued, “Seriously, you made the dishes?” they wiped off the tears in their eyes, “Good job. Keep it up,” they said as they left Vlastomil to dwell in his existential crisis.
“I…” Vlastomil said, not bothering to stare at the camera, “I’ve been a vegetarian my whole life! I’ve never had any meat in my house…” he paused for a moment, still trying to process MC’s compliment, “So why did people enjoy my food?”
 “As for you,” they turned to the other team, “Yesterday you were, you were amazing, how did it all change in one night? I believe it’s obvious who is the losing team. Muriel, you were the best of the worst, choose two candidates for the elimination,” with that, MC left the two teams on their own.
“Bye bye Lucio!” Vulgora grinned.
“What do you mean?! I’m not getting eliminated.”
After that sentence, everyone stared at him, thinking the same thing – could Lucio really be this dumb?
“What if, what if I get eliminated,” Portia started to get worried, “I mean, I could’ve seriously harmed someone,” she continued with her blabbering, “Oh, what will I do?” she started crying.
“Oh come on, don’t be like that,” Julian reassured her, “Everything will be fine.”
“No, it won’t!” Portia said, “I could have seriously hurt someone, do you think MC will let that slide?” she stared at Julian, her eyes becoming glossier.
“Look, you made no damage whatsoever,” Julian explained calmly as he tried to soothe his sister down, “That idiot could’ve burned the whole restaurant down.”
“Hey, don’t bring me into this!” Lucio shouted, “You did nothing the whole time! You were slow, unorganized and most of your dishes were returned!”
Julian ignored his comments, turning to Muriel, “Please don’t choose Portia,” he begged, “Choose me!”
Lucio turned to Muriel as well, “Don’t even think about choosing me!”
Muriel didn’t say a thing, instead, he just sighed, leaving the room.
“He… he won’t vote for me, right?” Lucio asked, feeling nervous.
~~~
“So, Muriel,” MC said as all of the chefs aligned, “Who do you choose and why?”
“I choose Lucio and Portia,” he felt shame as Portia’s name came out of his mouth, but there is no turning back now, “Lucio could’ve nearly burned the kitchen down had I not stepped in,” he simply explained, “As for Portia, she could’ve harmed someone with that boiling water,” he quickly added, trying to make Portia sound as good as possible, “Also, Lucio’s fake screams were completely immature. Such serious injuries shouldn’t be joked about.”
“Wait, please,” Julian walked out of the line, “I should be eliminated!” as soon as he said that, a smirk appeared on one certain doctor’s face, “I didn’t do anything when the fire started, I ignored Lucio’s cries and many people complained about my food! I, I’m not even a chef! I’m a doctor. There is no reason to keep me in the competition!”
MC stared at him, thinking about everything he said, “Very well then, if you’re so eager, join these two,” they gestured at Lucio and Portia.
“The person that will be eliminated from this competition is…” MC finally continued talking after a long pause, “Julian. Take your things and leave Hell’s kitchen.”
Despite the loss, Julian smiled brightly at MC. “Thank you for not choosing Pasha!”
“It, it’s happening!” Valdemar said happily as he stared at the camera, “Oh, what is this… feeling?” they stared at their hands, “Is it joy? Yes, it, it must be it, I have never felt so good. Oh, this is a dream come true, trust me, there is no better feeling than finally proving an idiot wrong. I just cannot wait to come back to my ordination, I should better start writing down the list of specimen I want!” they squealed like a high school girl, making the cameraman quite uncomfortable.
“Well, it sucks that I’ve lost the bet with Valdemar,” Julian admitted, “But at least my sister can keep going. I genuinely hope she can win and achieve her dream!” he said as he walked out of the Hell’s kitchen.
*****Thursday*****
“Has Denver General sent us any more information, or will I just find out when I get there?” June asked.
Consulting his notes, Ethan answered her. “Dr. Morgan said that he would send us the remaining test results as soon as he gets them. He’ll be sending them to all of us, so if you want to discuss the case with any of us we’ll all have the same information.”
June never looked up from the report she was reviewing. “I doubt it will be necessary.”
“Regardless of whether you think it’s a necessity, you will keep me informed of the case.” Ethan reminded her.
“Of course, Ethan.” June said. “If you don’t need me for anything else, I’m going to get ready for my flight?”
“You don’t want to hear about my new patient?” Baz asked her.
June glanced at him. “My flight leaves in less than three hours, so no. At least not right now.” She gathered her files and left saying goodbye to the rest of the team.
“Baz, what is going on with your new patient?” Charley asked.
“Late-onset Chediak-Higashi Syndrome. For me as an immunologist, I find it extremely interesting, especially as the patient is thirty-two and just diagnosed.”
Charley looked between Baz and Ethan. “Is this a team patient?”
“No. This is a patient of Baz’s. We will have a new patient coming in on Monday for which you will be primary.” Ethan held up a folder.
Baz briefed them on his patient, excusing himself when he received a page saying the patient was being admitted.
“And then there were two,” Ethan handed her the folder.
She flipped it open and read through the file. “Twenty-five year old male. Diabetic. Joint pain and muscle weakness.” Charley looked at him. “Do you know what it is and you want me to figure it out?”
Ethan shook his head. “I have a couple of ideas but I don’t know for sure what it is. You should have several ideas right now.”
“The symptoms can be just about anything. You said he gets here on Monday ?”
He nodded. “He’s already been to Mass Kenmore several times. Even though we have sent a release signed by the patient, Terrance hasn’t sent the files to us. So we may start with spinning our wheels testing for things that they have already tested for and eliminated.”
Charley studied the file again. “Did you see the iron levels here? I think the first thing is a liver biopsy?”
“Are you telling me that’s what you are going to do, or asking me if I think that’s the right choice?” Ethan asked her.
Her head snapped up. “That’s what I’m going to order. I’ll even have the order written so the test is run as soon as he’s admitted.” Charley met his eyes. “What?”
Ethan smiled. “There aren’t a lot of doctors who could have figured out to start with that test after reviewing a file for less than fifteen minutes. Let alone a second year resident. So I am impressed.” He reached over and stroked the back of her hand. “You often impress me.”
She turned her hand and laced their fingers. “It’s Thursday.”
“So it is.”
“Last week you texted me and said we would talk on Saturday.”
“Yes. And we decided we’d have dinner at six.”
Charley met his eyes. “You aren’t going to change your mind?”
“We’re meeting at my apartment. I’ll be there. We are long overdue for the talk. And I’m sorry for that.”
Charley smiles. “Will I finally get my chicken?”
“You will not. We’ve made the chicken together,” he held up his hand when she was going to interrupt, “this time, we’ll make something else. You plan the meal.”
“We may have made the chicken together but I never got to try it.”
“I want to see what you come up with. You can create any menu you want. Email me what we need and I’ll go shopping.” Ethan smiled at her.
Charley considered for a minute. “Anything?” When Ethan nodded, she continued, “My grandma had an amazing pot roast recipe. We could roast it in the oven or use a crockpot. It’s always best if it cooks on low in the crockpot, so that would take about seven or so hours. I’ll email you the list, and I guess I’ll be there late morning. I guess we’ll also have lunch together, too. That’s alright, isn’t it Ethan?” She didn’t even wait for his answer before she left the office.
Charley watched the office door to see if he was going to come after her and inform her they would not be spending the entire day together.
Ethan sat at his desk, he smiled as he realized that life would never be boring around Charley Valentine.
*****Saturday*****
Sienna pushed open Charley’s bedroom door. “Are yo-” Sienna stopped mid-sentence. She heard several loud thuds and  wanted to ask if Charley was okay, but she did not expect the scene she witnessed. She also didn’t see her roommate. “Charley!”
“I’m here,” Charley called, pushing herself out from under the bed. “I was looking for this shoe. That I can’t wear now. Thank you, Lucy!” The shoe had become a chew toy for their pet.
Lucy, their fennec fox, sat in the middle of Charley’s bed, looking proud of herself.
“Forget the shoe, we understand what happened to it.” Sienna looked around the room. “Was there a bomb? Are you telekinetic? Did your closet and dresser decide to vomit every article of clothing you own into your room?”
“I’m looking for something to wear, and I don’t have anything! I got off at five yesterday, I should have gone shopping!”
Sienna remembered the day a couple weeks ago when Charley got home late clad in someone else’s clothes. Based on her own conversation with a certain someone, Sienna had a pretty good idea who. Now she was frantically trying to find something special to wear. “What’s his name?”
Charley froze. “What’s whose name?”
“Obviously, the guy that you’re spending your day with. The same one you were with when you came home wearing clothes that were way too big for you. So, who is it?”
“No one,” Charley stated. “I’m not spending the day with anyone.”
“Yet you canceled on Bryce and me for today.” Sienna picked up a Columbia t-shirt and a pair of jeans with a rip in the knees. “Here, put these on.” She smiled. “I mean, if you aren’t doing anything special today, it doesn’t matter what you have on.”
Charley looked at the clothes that Sienna tossed on her bed. She had to leave for Ethan’s before Sienna would be leaving to meet Bryce, and she still didn’t know what she was going to wear.
Sienna watched her. “I heard that Dr. Ramsey also has today off. And he did when you had your second day off two weeks ago.”
Charley froze and looked to the door. “Everyone else is working today and they’re gone?”
Sienna nodded and sat down on Charley’s bed. “Uh-huh.”
“You can’t tell anyone.”
“So it wasn’t just the one night when he spent the night here?”
“That day we went to the country club and later I went to his apartment to talk to him? That was the first time, and the night after my hearing was the second. It was also the last time.” Charley sighed. “Then he went to the Amazon so we could ‘reset’ since he would be my director supervisor.” Charley sighed. “Since he’s been back he says we need to stay away from each other, but then he’ll kiss me. Today we’re going to ‘talk.’ We’ve been supposed to talk since right after the softball game, but it kept getting delayed.”
Sienna smirked at her. “You had on his clothes the day you came home.”
Charley's face turned red. “We spent the day together with his dad in Providence. We took his dog for a walk and I fell into a mud puddle.”
“You’ve met his family!”
“His dad. He hadn’t told Alan that he was bringing me with him. Ethan had never taken anyone home with him before, not even Harper Emery.”
“Dr. Ramsey and Dr. Emery were a thing!” Sienna’s mouth dropped open.
“I don’t know if it’s really common knowledge. Aurora probably knows. I saw the two of them talking once and it seemed intimate. It was the day before they announced the opening on the diagnostics team. I did ask him about it later and he said he likes to keep his private life private, but he did say they had an on-again, off-again thing but it ended permanently when she became chief.” Charley rested her head on her hand. “I probably shouldn’t have said anything. Don’t tell anyone.”
Sienna mimed sealing her lips. “I thought that you and Bryce were kind of together.”
“We hooked up a couple of times but we both agreed to be casual.”
“And with Ramsey, you don’t want casual?”
“I don’t.” Charley chewed on her lip. “Sienna, I’m terrified about today. I know that everything is going to change.”
“Well then, let’s get you ready.” Sienna picked up the t-shirt and jeans. “This probably won’t do; we’ll find something else.”
Charley was just getting ready to leave when her phone rang. She looked at the caller id and sighed. “If you’re calling to cancel-” she started.
“I’m not,” she heard his rich baritone as well as a smile in his voice. “I had to go to the hospital to pick up something. If you haven’t left yet you can ride with me. I’m outside your building.”
“I’ll be down in a minute.” Charley disconnected, smiling.
Soon they were in his apartment. She kicked off her shoes at the door and stood there when he walked further into the apartment. He got half way through the living room when he realized she wasn’t with him. He turned to find her at the door. “If we want to make this pot roast we need to go to the kitchen.”
Charley gave a nervous laugh and stepped away from the door. She tossed her purse on the couch as they walked into the kitchen. They washed their hands and Ethan pulled his crockpot out of the pantry while Charley pulled the roast out of the refrigerator. She saw the printout from her email with the image of her grandma’s recipe. Ethan gathered the rest of the ingredients while Charley brewed a pot of coffee.
“Why the crockpot instead of a roasting pan in the oven? I saw the recipe had directions for both with cooking times for either low or high in the slow cooker.”
“It tastes better and is more tender.”
Ethan smirked. “It does not. And we need to use the Dutch oven even if it’s just to brown the roast.”
“Maybe it doesn’t do a lot for the taste, but it is more tender.” Charley watched as the coffee finished brewing, standing  with her back to him. “It takes longer to cook in the slow cooker on low and I wanted to spend more time with you.” She gave a short laugh. “Funnily enough, now that I’m here, I’m nervous.”
“Why?”
She turned to face him. “I think that today may change everything, and I’m hopeful but I’m also scared. I’ve been wanting to sit down with you away from the hospital with just the two of us for so long, but now that we’re actually going to do that...” She bit her lip.
“Now you understand why I’ve been putting it off. But I’ve done a lot of thinking. And I talked to Naveen. We are long overdue. Today will change everything but we will be in agreement with it, I think.”
Charley nodded. Ethan turned back to the counter.  “Let’s get this set for dinner, fix lunch, and talk.”
Charley browned the roast in the Dutch oven while Ethan chopped the vegetables and herbs. Once the roast was in the crockpot, Charley cooked the onion. Once they started to soften, they added the rest of the ingredients, including the coffee. “Why coffee?” Ethan asked.
Charley smiled, watching the mixture simmer. “Is this a quiz, same as ‘why neat’ that first night at Donahue’s?”
“Genuine curiosity. As much as I love coffee, I’ve never had pot roast cooked in coffee. I found the recipe interesting.”
“It helps to tenderize the meat and gives the gravy a richer flavor.”
Once the gravy and onion mixture was cooked, Ethan poured it over the meat and set the timer. While Charley washed the accumulated dishes, Ethan fixed salads for lunch. They took their plates to the living room and sat side-by-side on his sofa.
“You talked to Naveen about us.” When he nodded, she continued, “I talked to Sienna.”
They fell into a silence while they ate. Charley glanced at him every so often.
He pushed the last piece of lettuce around on his plate before finally setting the plate on the coffee table. He turned to her; she mimicked his moves and faced him.
“Ethan, I’ve said for a while that a relationship with you is an easy decision for me. It’s what I want. I think that we could be good together, amazing even.”
Ethan nodded. “I know. You aren’t the problem, I am. I want to be able to push you to be the best doctor you can be.”
“You can do that professionally, regardless of any personal relationship we have. I can take criticism from Dr. Ramsey and know that it isn’t coming from Ethan.”
“You’re assuming that I can also have that division.”
That got Charley’s attention. “You’re Ethan Freakin’ Ramsey. You can do anything you try to. If you want to make the distinction you will. And if you cross the line, I’ll let you know.”
“Another problem-”
Charley put her hand on his arm. “If you just want to list a lot of potential possible problems, why are we even having a discussion? Earlier you said that today would change everything and you thought we’d be in agreement.” She folded her arms across her chest and focused on a picture hanging on the wall. “If you thought that I’d change my mind about us, you’re wrong. If you thought you could list all the reasons why we can’t be together and why you won’t be with me, I was right to be nervous about this. If that’s-”
Ethan reached over and grabbed her chin, forcing her to face him. “What I want to do is identify the obstacles or potential obstacles we face so we are both aware of them, and to decide how we need to handle them in the future.” He wiped a tear out of her eye. “Because in case you haven’t figured it out yet, I very much do want to be with you.”
Charley grabbed his hand and kissed his palm before lacing their fingers together. She smiled at him. “I’m sorry for my outburst. Continue, please.”
“Another problem is the board. They don’t like interoffice romances. Naveen seems to think this won’t be an issue. He seems to think that as long as it isn’t impacting the care of the patients, or the bottom line of the hospital, they wouldn’t care, nor would they even need to be aware. I disagree with him on this. I think the board makes it their business to know what goes on in the hospital.”
Charley interrupted again. “I know that there are married couples at the hospital. Was it a problem when you and Harper were together?” Ethan drew in a deep breath when she asked that. “If you don’t want to answer that you don’t have to.”
“I will. It was not a problem and the board did not have an issue with it when she was head of neurosurgery and I was a fellow on the diagnostics team. If our relationship would have continued when she was chief or if I had been a surgeon, it would have been a problem. Any other couples at Edenbrook do not work in the same area, and one member of the couple is not another’s supervisor.”
Ethan continued, “I don’t want anyone to think that you got the position on my team because of our relationship. I don’t want anyone to have any doubt about that. You earned it.”
Charley nodded. “I did earn it. You weren’t even the one who put me on the team. Naveen did.”
Ethan agreed that while that was true, many people at the hospital could have thought that he asked Naveen to do that.
“If anyone has doubts, I graduated at the top of my class at Columbia. Not near, I was ranked first. In fact if anyone had ranked all med school graduates my year from around the country, I’d probably be in the top fifty.”
Ethan laughed. “Someone did. And you are higher than that. You are somewhere in the top twenty. I’m not going to narrow it down more than that for you.”
“Based on that, I think I earned the right to be on the team. Not to mention helping to cure Naveen last year. Our relationship had nothing to do with it. Well except for the fact you inspired me to go to med school in the first place. And I wanted to work with you, which is why I came to Edenbrook.”
“We probably don’t want to advertise our personal relationship at work. The hospital has a wonderful gossip network and we’ll need to be careful. That being said it probably won’t be long before everyone knows about us.”
“That sounds okay. But some people will know. I told Sienna and you told Naveen. My roommates will know I’m seeing someone, and will make it their mission to find out who.” Charley wasn’t sure if she should mention the next part, but figured she might as well. “June does, or she thinks she does. At least that was what she implied the day I caught her with my personnelle file.”
Ethan froze. “She had your file?”
Charley nodded. “She said that she reads the files for everyone she works with. She tried to tell me you asked her to get it for you, but I knew you wouldn’t have.”
“I’ll deal with her when she gets back from Denver. Your roommates and Naveen are fine.”
“If my roommates know Bryce will also know; and if Aurora does, Harper might.” Charley looked up at him. “Can we talk about Harper?”
“I thought we already had.”
“You ended things when she became chief. If she wouldn’t have, would you still be together, do you think?”
“We would not. We were together because it was mutually beneficial to the both of us. But we were never going to last.”
She smirked at him. “By ‘mutually beneficial’ do you mean it was convenient and the sex was good?”
“Yes.” Ethan said. “But then last year something happened that I knew would never lead Harper and I together again.” When Charley tipped her head to show she was interested in his answer, he continued. “Last year, an intern showed up and turned my life inside out. And I can’t get her out of my head.”
Charley started to move towards him, and he stopped her. “What about the scalpel jockey?”
Charley lips twitched. “His name is Bryce.”
“I’m aware, and you didn’t answer the question.”
“We hooked up twice, once at our housewarming party and again once after we were at Donahue’s. We almost did the night we researched treating Mrs. Martinez, but you’d already kissed me in Miami. I wasn’t interested in anyone else at that point.” She looked at the ground before meeting his eyes. “Bryce is a friend and a good one. I trust him. I also know if I ever did want a relationship with him, I’d have that choice. I don’t, and Bryce respects that.”
“As long as he knows that you belong to me.” Ethan pulled her onto his lap and wrapped his arms around her, kissing her.
“And you belong to me!” Charley shifted slightly on his lap and felt his hardness under her thigh. “We could continue this in the bedroom.”
“A very good idea.” As Ethan stood and lifted her, she wrapped her legs around his waist as he carried her into the bedroom.
Several hours later, they were laying with their legs tangled together, voices soft in the quiet room when an alarm on her phone beeped.
“Somewhere you need to be?” He kissed the top of her head.
She pushed herself up. “Actually, yes. The kitchen. I need to start the vegetables.”
He walked over to his closet and pulled out a robe that on him would reach mid-thigh. He tossed it to her, before grabbing another for himself. This one hit him at mid-calf. “You could have this one if you wanted.” She indicated the robe she hadn’t yet tied. It fell below her knees.
He snorted. “Be responsible for you tripping in this one? I don’t think so.”
As Charley gathered what she needed for the roasted cauliflower, Ethan grabbed the green beans. Charley explained that sometime they would fix potatoes with the roast, but her grandfather grew up near Idaho and often decided he wanted anything other than potatoes, so they would have cauliflower. “I don’t like raw or steamed, but I really like them roasted with this mustard sauce.”
Charley watched Ethan pull a cake plate out of the refrigerator. “Dessert?” At Ethan's acknowledgment she asked what it was. He wouldn’t tell her, saying he wanted it to be a surprise.
They worked efficiently together in the kitchen, getting dinner ready. Ethan selected a red wine for them and opened it to let it breathe. He carried their plates to the dining room table.
“This is good; the coffee does make the gravy richer.”
“Grandma knows best. My grandfather grew up in Spokane and grandma in Seattle. They had a restaurant in Seattle that my dad and all my aunts and uncles worked in while they were growing up.”
“You have a big family?”
“My dad had three brothers and two sisters. But even though they had six kids, my grandparents only had four grandchildren. There was my brother and me; we grew up in Pennsylvania. My one uncle had two boys and they were in Oregon. All of my dad’s family is in the northwest and we didn’t see them often. My dad moved there after he retired and I started med school.”
Ethan watched her. “Are we going to talk about your mom’s family?”
Charley shrugged. “Not much to tell. Her parents were killed in a car accident when she was in college. She was an only child and you know why I don’t talk to her.”
As they cleared the table and kitchen he asked her what he had been wondering about. “Why did you decide to do your residency in Boston with most of your family now out west?”
“It doesn’t feel like home to me there. I figured I could do my residency anywhere; it wasn’t a commitment to stay somewhere for my life. It’s only three years.” She smiled at him. “Besides coming here let me learn from the best.”
Ethan poured coffee and set the mugs on a tray with two dessert plates. Charley watched as he lifted the cover off the cake.
“Lemon! How did you know lemon was my favorite?” Charley couldn’t resist. She swiped her finger on the edge of the cake to collect a sample of icing. She popped it in her mouth.
“I asked Sienna the other day and she told me.”
Charley stared at him. “She helped me get dressed this morning and she didn’t say anything!”
Ethan laughed. “You need help getting dressed in the mornings?”
She felt her face redden. “I… well… um. I didn’t know what to wear this morning.”
“I would have gone with clothes, but I understand that some people are fussier than others.”
“I wanted to look nice.”
“You always look nice.”
“I thought that I always looked satisfactory.”
Ethan cut two pieces of cake and added them to the tray with the coffees.
“I thought we could take these into the bedroom. If that would be satisfactory to you?”
She nodded and he carried the tray to the bedroom and set it down on the bed. He flipped a switch causing the gas fireplace to spring to life. Charley picked up her cake and snuggled back against Ethan. “I like the fireplace here.”
“I don’t often use it.”
“Why tonight?”
“Must be the company I’m keeping.”
Charley turned and straddled his lap. “You better be careful. This company could end up corrupting you.”
“I look forward to it, if that’s the case.” Ethan rolled her unto her back.
Several hours later, Charley looked at the clock. “I should go home. I have to work tomorrow and my boss can be tough if I’m late.”
“If you stay with me, I’ll be sure you’re not late,” Ethan buried his head in her neck.
“I don’t have clean clothes for tomorrow.”
“You can either grab some scrubs from the locker room or ask your roommate to bring something for you.” Ethan pointed to his dresser. “I cleared both of the bottom drawers for you, if you want them.”
Charley chewed on her bottom lip. “You knew what the outcome of our talk was going to be before we actually talked today. When did you decide you wanted-”
“The night of the softball game, when I kissed you.”
Charley stared at him. “Then why did you keep putting me off when I wanted to talk?”
“Because I kept coming up with all the reasons why we shouldn’t be together. And I decided not to do that anymore. I’m tired of avoiding whatever it is we have.”
“Why do I get the two bottom drawers?”
“You’re shorter than me!” He indicates the drawer on the right. “You actually do have clean clothes in there. What you wore when we went to my dads. You at least have something to wear to the hospital.” Ethan watched her. “Any other concerns for tonight?”
“Do you have an extra toothbrush?”
Ethan shrugged. “Yes, but it’s one of the standard ones dentists hand out. It should be fine until we can get you one to keep here.”
Charley put her head on his pillow. “Then I can’t think of a single reason to get out of the warm bed right now.”
He turned off the light and slipped under the covers with her. “Neither can I.”
Ace III [Sporky]
pairing: bakugo x fem!reader
genre: humor, romance
TW: violence, cursing, angst, fluff
Summary: Shifting into My Hero was a total mistake, all those tiktoks you watched on a daily about shifting somehow convinced your brain to take part. Now the question is how to wake up, and most importantly, DON’T GET ATTACHED TO STUPID DRAWINGS!
A/N:
New chapter! Not sure how my upload schedule will go, I’ll probably just wing it or something. And I don’t really know in what direction I wanna take this fic, but I promise to make it as great as possible! Anywho, here’s sporky!
{ACE MASTERLIST}
Tumblr media
Oops. Well it’s clear what big of a mistake you’ve just made.
While being on the verge of passing out, you decided to grab the closest thing next to you, so you don’t fall and hit your head. Instead of a counter or wall (or literally anything else) you decided to grab onto an arm.
A very muscular and warm arm.
You quickly retract your arm to look straight into glowing red eyes. They look at you in that moment with so much hated and anger, that you literally had to do a double take.
Jesus did you kill this dude’s grandma or something? What is going on?
“Next time you even think about touching me, I’ll be sure to remind you why I’m the strongest guy here.”
“Well shit my bad, no need to act like I shoved a scorpion up your ass. Jesus christ, what the fuck is your problem man? Did someone spit in your coffee or something?” You move to walk away, you are not about to deal with someone who acts like complete dick. Before you could though, this asshole grabs your arm and pulls you back.
“What did you say, extra? Alright then since you act so tough, fight me! I doubt you would win though, I mean, you have a weak ass quirk anyways!” He shouts as explosions start to come out of his hand, putting it up to you face as to scare you.
Wait, pause. You just realized you have a quirk. I mean it had to be good enough to get into U. A. But what was it? Was it like Aang, and you were like some type of avatar? Or were you more like Wonder Woman, and had super strength? Or were you like Spiderman, and could climb walls with spidey-senses? Or maybe, you were just incredibly smart, like Batman or Iron Man? No, that wouldn’t make sense, they would’ve thrown you into the support course if that was the case. Or maybe, you could-
“Hey! Did your dumbass not hear me? Or are you deaf as well as stupid?”
Okay. That’s fucking it.
You were hungry, had an agitated dog, and you still haven’t gotten your stupid pills.
You push the guy off you with as much strength as you could (which wasn’t much) and growled at him.
Yes, growled at him.
“Bro, shut the fuck up! No one wants to fucking hear you scream at 7 in the fucking morning! Just stay fucking quiet! Or are you too fucking stupid to do that? Your dumbassery is getting on my last fucking nerves, so just SHUT THE FUCK UP!”
Immediately, everyone backed away, and looked scared to be within 5 feet of you. And you don’t blame them, you always looked scary when you were really mad. You’re glad your angry, and not frustrated. Otherwise, you would’ve broke into tears. Nope, all you felt right now was pure hatred and rage.
You took a quick peek at your reflection in the microwave and you couldn’t believe what you were seeing.
You had a white aura around you, and your eyes were a dark blue, with a little bit of fog coming out of them. With you’re pajamas still on, your eye bags, and a little bit of smudged mascara from yesterday, you look like you crawled out of the straight depths of sleepy hell. Hiro growling next to you waiting for your orders to attack didn't exactly help you look any friendlier.
You quickly calmed down, and decided to just take a quick breath, and whistled for Hiro to back off as well.
“Okay, I’m calm. Does anyone know where the Tylenol is? I have headache. I also need food, not just for me, but for Hiro. I’m sorry for yelling, I’m just really irritated right now, so I ask that no one pushes my buttons.” You take another breath, just to calm your heart rate.
“Yeah. Yeah, yeah, no worries Y/N. I know how Bakugou can get on your nerves pretty badly.” A girl with pink hair quickly comes up to you. Well, not just pink hair, pink everything.
“Here, Ochako, you know where the pills are right? Go get them from the medicine cabinet. I’ll go get you some breakfast, hun.” She quickly runs off to get me some much needed food. The girl with the short fringe, Ochako you assume, goes off to get you my stupid pills.
“Koda, would you mind going to Hiro-san and asking what he might want to eat? I’ll help out.” The boy with green hair asks. A really big guy comes up to Hiro, and tries to whisk him away.
“Hey! Sorry to disappoint but he stays with me. I’m on edge right now and he’s the only dude who can calm me down.” They are not to about to take him away, you don’t know these guys yet enough to trust them, you still don’t even know how you got here. Hiro’s pretty much the only thing closest to home, if he leaves now God knows what could happen.
“Oh! I apologize L/N-san. He already told me his answer anyways, so I’ll go prepare his breakfast so you can both relax!” He blushes, and bows before running off to make some food.
“Thanks, sorry for yelling. I’m just kinda anxious right now.” Hiro barks as if to agree with you. It’s not even 8 a.m and you’re both already done with this bullshit.
“It's okay L/N-san. Last night, you got hit pretty hard, you we’re not going to blame you for being a little rough around the edges.” The boy with green hair says before walking away to join the other dude. Jesus, you really need to know everyone’s name. You can’t call them ‘dude’ and ‘guy’ forever.
“L/N-san! Sorry about Bakugou! I know the two of you seem to bash heads a lot, but I promise you that he doesn't mean it!”
A cute little redhead comes up to you. He looks really sweet, except for his razor sharp teeth that look like they could cut thought anything. He puts his hand on you shoulder, as a little gesture to calm you down a little. Apparently Hiro didn’t like it, because he started to growl.
‘Back off, dude. Don’t touch,’ he seemed to say.
“Oi! Shiity hair!” Oh god. “Don’t apologize on my behalf! It makes you look stupid, and me look weak!” The red eyed blonde from earlier walks over.
‘Shitty hair’, or whatever his real name was, put his hands up and took his place next to the blonde, tossing his arm around him.
“Come on, Bakugou! You’re always fighting with her, maybe it’s best to just chill down! Come on! It’s a beautiful Saturday, we don't have any plans except to relax! We should totally go out! When was the last time we hung out with the class?”
“Tch, I don't want to deal with these extras longer than I already have to. Besides, when doesn’t she get on my fucking nerves? That’s the only thing she’s good for anyways.” He shoves the red head’s arm off of him and stares at me.
“Come on Kacchan! You know she’s only teasing! Besides, you need to learn to be sweeter to girls! This is probably why you don't have a girlfriend, and why Ca-”
‘Kacchan’, or ‘Bakugou’, you’re not even sure anymore, grabs the pikachu looking dude from earlier by his shirt and looks like he’s about to punch him.
“Don’t you dare finish that fucking sentence Dunce Face! And besides, it’s not like your desperate ass could get pussy anyways!”
The piss-yellow blonde immediately gets scared and screams to run away.
“Well you don’t have to say it like that, ya know! At least Y/N likes me!” He comes over to me and puts his arm around you. He pulls you into his chest and places his head on top of yours. Since you're sitting, it’s quite easy for him to tower you.
“Not now dude, you are on my last fucking nerve.” You muffle into his chest as you move to push him off.
Okay, super strength is for sure not your quirk.
“Right, your pissed right now, sorry. By the way, I’ll go get you some wipes for your makeup. You look like a demon right now, no offense.” He runs off to God knows where, finally letting you breathe.
“None taken,” you mutter.
“Y/N! I brought the Tylenol, and some water for your to drink!” Ochaco comes back with a small pill tablet and a glass of water. As she hands you everything, she rubs your back as to say ‘don't worry, you’re in good hands now’.
“L/N-san! Hiro’s food is ready! Midoriya helped out, so the process went by faster.” Koda and the green haired kid, Midoriya, comes back with a bowl of kibble and some steak.
Of course Hiro would ask for steak. Why did you even bother?
“Y/N! I’m back!” The pink girl from earlier comes with some rice and eggs. Weird combination, but okay.
“I know you’re still getting a little used to using chopsticks, not being from Japan and all, so I had to look around for a fork.” You hands you your breakfast and a spoon.
“Um, this is a spoon.” You say, holding it up for her to see.
“Yeah, I know. I said I had to look around, I never said I was successful.” She gave me a smile and little shrug before walking away.
Oh boy.
Suspicion
(Warning: this fanfic might come with suspense and crime).
A man with tangerine hair and black clothing was sitting in an interrogation room. Handcuffed to a chair with his hands behind his back. And the light shining above him.
While Neptune stood in front of him, glaring at the sight of the criminal before him and slammed his palm on the table. "Tell me why you did it?" He questioned.
"Did what? I didn't do anything." The thug denied. But Neptune wasn't going to leave him easily. Even for a softie. "The little girl you tried to take is my daughter and now you're answering to me. Tell me why you tried to take her, it who sent you?" He repeated.
-Yesterday-
Little Tristina is enjoying a day in the park making Sandcastles in a sandbox with her friends. Including her big brother Tristan. But then a figure appeared. "Hello children, do you want some candy?"
Jupiter, who was looking after his niece and nephew was talking to a friend since Haven Academy. Suddenly heard barking. It was coming from his family pet dog, Cerberus, who was ready to attack the man, and got in front of the children. "Cerberus?!" Called Jupiter.
Then he ran up to the pitbull and calmed him down. "Cerberus, calm down. What's wrong?" Then he turned to Tristan. "The man was trying to take my sister. And Cerberus is protecting us." Said Tristan. Then Jupiter glared at the man. "Hey you! Is this true you're trying to take my niece?!" Interrogated Jupiter.
The man shaken and held his hands out in denial. "N-no! The kid is lying. I was just saying hello!" He lied. But Jupiter wasn't falling for it and could tell his dog if following his instincts of danger. "Really, why is my dog barking at you? He could tell you're not friendly around here." He said. Cerberus growled at the man trying to take his owners. The kids a dog ever loves.
The next thing, the kidnapper tried to run away. But Jupiter catched up to him and tackled him to the ground. And beat him up, but made sure he did not kill him. And took him to the police station his younger brother is working as chief in uniform. "Hey bro. Caught this guy stalking the kids. I'll leave him to you." He informed and the kidnapper was taken into custody.
Good thing Tristan knows a thing or two about strangers as his parents taught him. Fortunately, Cerberus was trained to attack anybody suspicious. If anyone tries to come near the kids for a malicious purpose, that's when he will snap. And the kids' safety is the pitbull's priority.
It got Weiss scared after she was informed with all of this and kept the kids in the house for their safety. And couldn't bear the fact that she almost lost her children.
"Tristina, Tristan, it's okay!" She wept while hugging her younger children. As Tide, her eldest, hugged his mother also. "Mom, don't blame yourself, Cerberus did a good job on following his instincts. Tristina and Tristan are safe thanks to him." Cerberus also came to comfort Weiss. As she stroke his head, gently. "Thank you, Cerberus."
-Today-
Weiss went to check up with her husband in the station. And he came out of the interrogation room. Brushing her hair, nervously. "Anything?" Asked Weiss.
Neptune sighed and brushed his hair back. "Yeah, he finally confessed. Turned out he was hired by the Ashlands, who were once connected to your father. Do you know about them?" Weiss jolted in shock on hearing that name. The Ashlands were once associated with her father, who was CEO of the SDC at the time.
Like her father, they are conniving people who swindled for money, and once time, they destroyed another family's factory when the victims refused to sell their property. "When the guy confessed he was paid 5,000 lien to take Tristina and bring her to them, and use her for a bride of their son for when she is older, as payback on you."
"I feared this would happened. And to think they wouldn't know where I was today. I hoped they would never think of something cruel to our children! My father did crossed the line. Even with him gone, they are still here. Those Ashlands will pay for what they tried to do." Weiss growled. Hating the family who tried to take her daughter against her will.
Neptune then comfort her to not let the pain get to her any further. "I know, I'll make sure they do. For now. We can't stay here. For now, we might have to move. Now that the Ashlands know about us, chances are, they will do it again." Neptune informed after the man revealed they will stop at nothing to get what they wanted.
"You're right. We have to think of the children first. After what happened yesterday, we cannot let that happened again."
"Let's go back home, you need some rest. The kids are waiting for us. I'll be sure to put the Ashlands on a manhunt list." Neptune said. And Weiss nodded in agreement. They then walked out, hand in hand. The man was sentenced to life in prison for kidnapping. "Also, think your sister will be sure to keep on a lookout for the Ashlands?"
"Of course. Maybe this way, they won't hide forever. After all, she's been after that family for years." Weiss said and took her scroll to contact her sister. Since then, the Ashlands became the most wanted criminals all over Remnant.
Tristan has been working on training with Cerberus for commands the next time anyone tried to go after him or his sister. They became an unstoppable team. Man's best friend is no joke. "Nice job, Cerberus." He said.
-7 days later-
The Schnee-Vasilias Family moved into an apartment in Vale. Where Neptune can continue to work as a cop in Vale and keep an eye on things. Weiss installed security cameras in fear their children will be taken. And they made sure the house is secured, including the locks, and the windows.
Tide then decides to work alongside his father for when he is older. Knowing how unsafe the streets were when it comes to invulnerability. And even looked after his siblings.
Weiss is sitting on a sofa with her younger son and daughter. Tristan hugs his mother while Tristina sleeps on Cerberus like a pillow. Feeling safe when he's around. Cerberus had not taken his eyes off the children since the incident. The Ashlands were still at large since then.
"I miss grandma and grandpa, mommy." Said Tristan, missing his grandparents in Mistral since he visits them sometimes. But now he was far from them. "I know, Tristan. But you and your brother and sister needed to be safe first. Okay?" Weiss said in a comforting tone. "Okay."
"Mommy, when is Daddy coming home?" Asked Tristina, waking up after another nightmare. "Did you have a nightmare again?" Asked her mother.
The little girl sniffled in tears. "The bad man tried to take me. It was scawy." Cried the toddler. The white-haired woman then took her daughter in her arms. "It's okay, darling. The bad man won't get you. Your father made sure of it." She promised. Never letting go of her children.
Then Cerberus handed Weiss her scroll as Neptune called. "Good boy, Cerberus." Weiss said and picked up the call. "How is work, Neptune?" Asked Weiss. "Hey honey, is everything okay?" He asked, checking up on his family. "Everything is okay. The kids seemed to have been adjusting to our new home."
"That's great. Listen, Weiss. I am going to be a little late getting home. Can I say hi to the kids before I go?" Asked Neptune. Then Weiss turned to the children. "Do you want to say hi to your daddy?" The kids nodded excitedly. And leaned to the scroll.
"Daddy!" They shouted happily. "Hey there! Did you miss me?" For now, they needed time to cope. And when taking them to school, Weiss and Neptune made sure they get there safely. Tristan then held his sister's hand to keep her safe. Dressed in school uniforms. "Stay safe, and have a nice day!" Waved Weiss.
"Bye Mommy! Bye Daddy! We love you!" Shouted Tristina, smiling. Weiss had been thinking about homeschooling them, still fearing for the safety of her family. But knows that it will make the children sad if they were kept in isolation and not have any friends.
-13 years later-
There was a session with Professor Goodwitch when he gives lectures about safety. Since the Fall of Beacon Academy from the first downfall. It haunted Glynda for not seeing any signs of traitors around the area.
"And that, students is why we must keep an eye on any signs of suspicion. No matter if it's a friend, family member, or anyone you knew. Especially the people you never met. If you see anyone, and something isn't right. Report to the security building immediately." Glynda said.
Tristan had been working down notes ever since that day his sister was almost taken. Even as a child, he had seen it all. It also traumatized him to this day. Tristina would've been gone had Cerberus not come to their rescue.
"You okay, Tris?" Dana Coal, his best friend and crush, who he is in a friend zone with, asked. In concerns for the well-being. "Yeah, just bad memories flashing."
"Come on, maybe some coffee will get your mind off things."
Later at the Vale Police Station. Tristan and Dana visited Tristan's set brother, Tide to check up on updates about the Ashland Family. "Hey, bro. How's it hanging?"
"Not bad. Is everything alright, Tris?" Asked Tide who was reading the reports of recent events, now that he is police captain. "Yeah, anything about the Ashlands yet?" Asked Tristan. That is when he gave his brother the news.
"The good news is, two of the family members are now cuffed and awaiting trial." Tide informed. Dana also hates that family since the beginning. "And the bad news?" She asked.
"19 of the family members are still at large. Who would've thought that the Ashland Household would be that big?"
"Is Tristie doing okay?" Asked Tristan, concerned for his sister's safety. "Mom called, she enrolled Tristina to Amazon Academy in the Kingdom of Troy." Said Tide.
"You mean an all-girls academy for future huntresses?" Asked Dana. Amazon Academy is a school for girls, it has the highest security in the Kingdom of Troy, another former unknown land where there were cultures of battle stadiums. "Yeah, Mom says it's for the best. This way, she will be safe. The headmistress of the academy is nice, so she was aware of the Ashland case. And made sure Tristie is in good hands."
"Better be good though." Tristan said. Not convinced, but hopes for the better. The next day, Tristan then was about to sleep in his dorm room. And Cerberus nuzzled his leg, missing Tristina. "Hey boy. I missed her too." Cerberus then climbed into his bed and rest. As Tristan smiled and wrapped his arm around him. "Hey, don't worry about me. I'll be just fine."
Cerberus had been attached to Tristan since he was keeping an eye on him. And never left his side since.
