Before "Kris" became synonym with "Kris Guštin" to me, it used to be "Kristian Kostov" and I just need to say that I'm a Kristian Kostov girlie first and foremost (I'm starving for a new song and it's finally happening)

i need to talk about the dess raises kris au. or im gonna explode.
#chatter#GOOD TIMING TO THINK ABOUT AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT STORY: EDITING UR TOH DAEMON AU LOL#like i can separate it out enough when im working lol but afterwards. oh its all deltarune babey!!!#been thinking a lot about dess and how i wanna write her#(aka im gonna canonize some mental stuff i've always kinda had in the back of my mind for her)#and GOD. dess. i forgive her for all her flaws <3#but no shes sooooo fascinating to me in this au its just. she was Eighteen. right in the middle of a pretty bad psychotic break.#the only person ever in her corner (asriel) Did Not Believe her and has always been real shitty about her undiagnosed mental illnesses#(dw we will come back to this i have a LOT of ideas for azzy lol he is. uh. not the best at the start!)#and so like. of course when it comes to kris her best was never going to be enough.#but GOD im soooo fascinated by like. she does genuinely really truly care for kris.#yes its messy and caught up in a bunch of other things but she LOVES THEM#even if she cannot ever love them in the way they want her to (ie as a parent loves a child)#and is it fair for kris? no! course it isnt!!!#but theres no changing the past and so. this is kris's life now#and its dess's life now. and they just have to live with what happened#thinking about the like. 6 months to a year where it was just dess and kris (before chara) and. god.#GOD. YOU GUYS.#sorry this au is. um. i think it is my everything. like.#if you know you know (hi stars lol <3) but. man.........man.#i have a lot of thoughts about. prophecy. and when translating that out beyond just story and into like. the real world#cause lets be real prophecy doesnt exist but things w this power of 'you are supposed to be x and cannot be anything but x' DO and#god. the dess raises kris au is So Much.#also yeah another acacia tags essay they simply hit differently <3#also enough to go into the main tag so#drkau#anyways lemme go back to editing lol

I have listened to 74 and Skies Forever Blue.
Personally I... don't think either really has much of a connection to Deltarune? I just think sometimes, authors really like exploring certain themes over and over again. Toby seems to enjoy exploring metafiction in video games, and subversions about 'what the people who fill certain 'classic archetypes' 'classic archetypes' in stories. (And I can't blame him, personally. I keep thinking up and writing stories where the 'chosen one' is subverted somehow.)
Could Dess and Kris end up mirroring the Princess and Knight in 74? It's not impossible. I've actually heard the theory that Kris is opening Dark Worlds to search for Dess in isolation from the song 74 before now. I've also always wondered why the creator of the Dark Worlds is called the Knight, and not the Maker or Author or Dreamer or Dragon or something like that. If the person who happened to be creating Dark Worlds was introducing themself as 'the Knight,' that'd be one thing, but it strikes me as kinda strange that the role itself is called the Knight. Furthermore, as I've also theorized in isolation, if Dess is meant to be an Asriel/Flowey parallel, it's possible that she does want to be rescued deep down, but feels she doesn't deserve it and thus lashes out and shoves people away.
So, analyzing themes Toby has done before and a few things about Deltarune. It's not impossible. But we know so incredibly little about Dess that some of us can't even agree on her species, so this seems to be another thing that seems like a big stretch to theorize about. Even if I, personally, like this kind of character and subversion of a lot more than 'what if Dess was a HOOMAN'
...That sad. I'd actually say that Deltarune already seems to have two characters that fit this particular parallel and subverson. Berdly and Noelle on a Snowgrave work as slightly less of a stretch. But really not much of a 1-1 parallel. XD
Mmhmm!
My first thoughts after listening to 74 and Skies Forever Blue was that both of these protagonists have 'Asriel' Vibes - 74 & Asriel are twists on 'Fairytales' - 74 has a perverted Princess & Asriel is secret 'Frog Prince' - while Skies Forever Blue's Girl has a similar tragedy to Asriel - a videogame NPC who has fallen in love with a careless HeroTM - and turns self-destructive because of said love.
(Both Asriel & the Girl also have a moment where in lue of a missing protagonist, they take control of the videogame world around them, making themselves the Protagonist, if only for a moment.)
...Leads one to think that Toby Fox loves deconstructing childhood fairytales. Applies similarly to Toriel, Undyne, Asgore, and Chara - twists on the Witchy Stepmom, the Hero, the Evil Demon King, and the Player Character.
Kris is a 'Hero' - a Knight in Shining Armor - and the twist is in plain sight - they are a Villain too - the fountain creator - and capable of being pushed to hurt Noelle.
(Not a statement on whether Kris WANTS to be the Villain - I don't think they do - which is probably why they let themselves be possessed)
The Most Obvious 'Princess' is Noelle - she's fits the bill for nice, well-born, and extremely passive - and she reminds me a lot of the Princess from 74 - because underneath the role of Princess she hides a decently complex and powerful person - and her own ability to hurt people.
(Susie rounds out the triad by being a Dragon/Villain with the ability to be a Hero - though I think we're missing a good chunk of her story still for me to comment on this - right now I view her as a Shonen Hero (like Naruto) in denial of her role, who would rather give it up to Kris and Ralsei.)
(Ralsei is purposely making himself a Tutorial Tip Fairy - so there's not much going on there until he breaks and grabs protagonistdom by the reins.)
Pretty much on the nose that Berdly is a corrupted Knight with Noelle as his Princess - though I don't think he'll have a similar 'Role' in the future - I think he'll relax in future chapters - and his relationships with the class / his family explored more.
I like to think he has younger/older siblings, and that's why he's so pressured to stand out.
#deltarune#deltarune headcanons#deltarune meta#?#sure#uh I have more thoughts but they're more disconnected so I'm gonna tag ramble#i sometimes imagine that Kriselle will end up as a corrupted version of zelda/link even in the normal route#where kris is too wild of a hero to be a knight and noelle is too manipulative of a princess to be a damsel#i recommend scrolling through @ganymedesclock 's zelda tag to better understand what i'm talking about#uh i've been influenced by your own thoughts on Dess and I also think she's a flowey parallel#as someone who's hurt and angry about it and trying to distance herself from everything to cope#but i also like the theory that she's gaster's scientific apprentice - so i think of her as also an alphys figure#in that she has done Unethical Science to kickstart the main plot and is struggling to take responsibility for said Science#which i think contrasts with some of our only Dess Info in that 'she likes sports'#uh i also have Thoughts on the role of Knight#being akin to being the 'Player Character'#with 'Angel' being a role akin to a Player (ie Us)#but I'm gonna wait until later chapters to comment on THAT - simply because we lack so much info#and also 'Angel' & 'Knight' are symbolic roles independent of video game metaphors#Berdly is a 'Knight' after all#soilai's labyrinth#chatter

WINGDINGS TRANSLATIONS! PART 1
Since Wingdings looks like it might be the symbollic code in DR (consider, the EGG), let's put some things through Wingdings and see what we get!
UNDERTALE / DELTARUNE
... Welp, off to a great start.
FRISK
Nice ref to Frisk flat face.
CHARA
Well they have a sunny personality, huh.
KRIS
Once again, from the top.
TORIEL
She definitely wasn't happy in the capital and left for the ruins... which happens to be entirely Left of the map.
SANS
Hm... Its Raining Somewhere Else.
PAPYRUS
He does kinda have that victory mentality, huh?
UNDYNE
She is the first monster that can't be mercied and must be run from... or kill / die.
ALPHYS
Yeah, down below Alphys is a very unhappy secret.
METTATON
EVEN HIS WORDS ARE BOMBS!!
NAPSTABLOOK
Hm.
ASGORE
He did say he would lead the monsters to the surface...
SUSIE
Hm...
LANCER
This is as goofy as he is.
NOELLE
Not uh... Not having a fun time there, eh?
DESS
Our unseen sister of Noelle, and uh... Hm...
But if we try her full name as "December"...
That's quite a lot of moves there. Seems to want to keep going left.
RUDY / RUDOLPH
If we run on the idea that of Toriel-Sans, Asriel-Papyrus, meaning Gaster-Asgore...
That means Gaster would also have known Rudy.
And well... The Wingdings don't like about what happened in UT, so definitely wouldn't in DR...
Oh deer.
ANGEL
... Yeah, I got that feeling.
DETERMINATION
I'm not sure what I was expecting.
GASTERBLASTER
For the Hell of it.
GASTER
If we take the sun as Hotland, the Snow as Snowdiwn, the Teardrop as Waterfall...
... then I have no fucking clue what we get.
FLOWEY
An unhappy death, for sure.
ASRIEL / RALSEI
Hm...
DREEMURR / MURDERER
Hold it.
Those hands... That looks like...
The Alternate Moves of a Knight, in contrast to the Egg.
Sunnovabitch.
The TRUE Knight is Asriel.

Spamton propaganda:
"You know someone had to do it.
This guy's whole thing is not wanting to be a puppet anymore, but uh-oh-spaghetti-o! Dude now has physical puppet strings!"
"Making a [SPECIL] deal by placing his [#1 SALE SYSTEM] into a [CLASSIC!] body, Spamton believed he could be more than [HYPERLINK BLOCKED]. But the strings told him otherwise. He lunged at Kris in [LIMITED TIME OFFER], trying with all his [50% OFF!] to be more than a puppet."
"Spam email bot who was exposed to something that drove him mad and he spent the whole rest of his existence trying to cut his strings, only to die (maybe?) when he finally manages it."
"He is the most tortured dumpster man alive. Also, not literally a puppet, but metaphorically!!! There's some mysterious outside force controlling him and limiting what he can say and god, he desperately wants to break free, trying to kill the protagonist (his only friend in years) for the chance of ""being let loose from his strings"". In his secret boss battle, he thinks he'll be free after getting a new body but he isn't, as his new powerful body has literal strings attached. You fight him, because he thinks your soul (long story) will gain him access to freedom. During the pacifist route of the battle, you cut his strings until there's one more left, he's ecstatic, being able to break free from the narrative of the confines of the game. He decides to break his own last string, and he falls to the ground into pieces. It turns out he relied on the strings after so long, and couldn't recover without them. Afterwards, he's deshevaled, hung up by vines in the dark basement that resemble his old strings and he says ""It seems after all I couldn't be anything more than a simple puppet."" This ties back to how Kris, the protagonist of the game is feeling the effects of being controlled by the player and really shows the core focus of the game and it's characters. And that's why I entered him into this poll!
Also he is genuinely so fucking hilarious bro just play Deltarune already what the fuck are you doing the chapters that are out rn are free dawg (play Undertale first though, it's like ten bucks or something you'll be fine)"
"Spamton best blorbo. Very good blorbo. Exquisite blorbo even. He's sad and adhd and insane and weird and I love him and you should too. Pipis"
"he spamt"
"[[NUMBER ONE RATED SALESMAN 1997]]"
"he's living in a goddamn garbage can. let the big shot win. it'll be funny. does he deserve it? that is up to viewer discretion. but he is our beloved tumblr sillyman and as such we need to pay him respect in some manner. <3
(iirc spamton is a puppet? probably. oh well if he doesn't count ignore this i'm not read up on
my deltarune)"
"frankly i'd be surprised if he's not one of the most submitted. anyway his whole Deal is about being a puppet and having other things control him and so he seeks to regain that control through either manipulating the player into murdering half the city or to take the red soul and use it to become a god. yet in his super powerful NEO form he still has strings attached to him (that he won't even notice if he succeeded in the player manipulation thing) and in either case he ultimately becomes an item you use just for stats. guy really isn't a fan of puppetteers"
"you propably knew this was coming lol
Tumblr's favorite awful little puppet desperately fighting to get rid of his strings
the pinocchio references are strong in this one
HA HA HA ... THIS POWER IS
FREEDOM.
I WON'T HAVE TO BE JUST A PUPPET ANY MORE!!!!
...
OR... so... I... thought.
WHAT ARE THESE STRINGS!? WHY AM I NOT [BIG] ENOUGH!? It's still DARK... SO DARK!"
"Tries to become a real boy, ends up as another puppet look guy. He's shady, he's a scammer, he's got cringefail swag and I love him"
"He's just a little fucked-up little guy"

a list of things to consider when Deltarune ch 3-5 drops
its almost undertale's anniversary, how about i make a nice little refresher of major things that will more than likely be addressed in the next few chapters shal we? These are kiiiiiinda maybe guaranteed with ch 3-5 but who knows, toby fox might pull a 180 with the writing.
- the hell is going to happen to berdly? is he dead? is he fallen? if he is dead, will he dust like in undertale or are the rules different in this universe? is this just a weird magic coma?
-Noelle's mental state in both snowgrave and pacifist timelines.
- the fact Kris just kinda robbed a public library. as more and more dark worlds will open between chapters, there is going to be more places available. will people notice the little munchkin committing low stakes robbery? -Is Kris going to drag shit from their house to the dark world at the school ? ? ? will Toriel notice???
- Dark worlds at night. there was foreshadowing by Seam. this might get interesting.
- Mettaton asking you to give them something entertaining because it is boring. -whatever the hell Onion San is on about.
- the guy who tells you to practice your knocking.
-the fuck is toriel going to react to ralsei?
-the fact that it is implied that dark worlds are a representation of the struggles of the lightners, ch 3 will absolutely give us a LOT of context about kris and toriel's life. At LEAST Toriel's life at the bare minimum.
-The object inside of Asriel's dresser that depends on what save slot you have. you just turned the house into a dark world, something very very interesting™ is going to happen IF it is possible to go up there. -Toriel's reaction to the magic teas. (possibly) -the next secret boss and egg location. (can't forget!)
-"Mike" and "Tenna". unpopular opinion: i do not care who mike is. Everyone is getting all excited and speculative and i am just like "oh ok neat". If he is a secret boss: neat! why not! I don't have strong opinions on them sorry lol.
-What is the "Weird path" for this chapter and the other two chapters? what the hell is the player going to be able to do to Toriel? what are the implications of the weird paths for Kris? will there even be a weird path for the upcoming chapters?
-"The entirety of Undertale takes place within Toriel's kitchen". (is link to a reddit theory). Undertale? at this time of year at this time of day localized entirely within your kitchen? jokes aside: Ch 3 will more than likely confirm or deny this theory being true. And if this theory IS true i am going. to flip. my shit. a part of me wants it to be dis-proven because I love undertale and I feel like the implications could cheapen the story. Also I hate ANY notion of chara being related to deltarune because I want this to be a unique story on the other hand THE IMPLICATIONS HOLEY SHIT. this is going to be an interesting one.
-Suzie Godzilla. "uh Kat you don't know for sure this is going to- " it's going to happen.
-Confirming or Denying "chess theory". Personally I have no strong opinions on chess theory, the chess theory just kinda seems like a neat easter egg if it were proven true. -Possibly confirming or denying "universal mother theory" or adding onto it. there is a video on you tube about it. A part of me likes the idea that the Antagonists of each dark world can apply to any none, but idk.
Things I want to see but is more than likely not guaranteed to happen
-Ralsei and Kris character development
-more information on Asriel.
-honestly just more information on who Kris is as a person and learning more about them.
-how Kris REALLY feels about berdly.
-and Noelle why not.
-Why Kris (or whoever the fuck is causing kris to act like this) opened a fucking dark fountain. there are many reasons against kris being the knight, the biggest one being how the hell did a dark fountain open while Berdly and Noelle were at the library, while kris was still at school for example. but regardless if Kris is the knight or not, why the hell would Kris start a dark fountain after the snowgrave incident? and if Kris isn't doing that, then who is doing it and why??
-SAN'S FUCKING BROTHER PLEASE LET ME SEE PAPYRUS. the only reason this is in "might not happen" is because i can see toby fox making us wait until the end of the game to see paps or something.
-ANYTHING involving Asgore and what happened in his job and the divorce
-hints about Des? maybe?
-How kris feels about the player (especially if it considers the players past actions to Kris's response. ).
-Or hell more information on if the player is a character in this story. Is the player the soul ? is Kris the soul ? Its unlikely because there are many points proven that you are making Kris do things they do not like, but the "ripping out the soul" shenanigans are also too fishy to make sense.

Uh.. okay was searching for stuff for an AU I was making on Deltarune and came across...
The Snow Queen
"The devil, in the form of a troll,[2] has made a magic mirror that distorts the appearance of everything that it reflects"
Kris has connections to a "Devil" with sealing the Angel's Heaven, and the horn headband, and the distortion matches the Darkworlds
"shattering into billions of pieces. Some become windowpanes, some spectacles, and some get stuck in people's hearts and eyes, giving them a cold and bitter disposition."
The shadow crystals, which become glass in the Light World, and specifically spectacles being something mentioned, Spamton?
"Years later, a little boy Kai (often spelled "Kay" or "Kaj" in translations) and a little girl Gerda live next door to each other"
Kris and Noelle, Kai kind of sounds like Kris, both start with K, and have an I in them
"splinters of the troll's mirror get into Kai's heart and eye. Kai becomes cruel and aggressive."
Both Kris getting possessed by us (More in a Snowgrave timeline though) as well as simply how they seemed to have withdrawn after Dess went missing?
"The roses assure her that Kai is not dead, since they could see all of the dead while they were underground."
Underground, Dark World, the Kris parallel being not dead, when Kris in DR can revive, yeah
" Gerda is captured by robbers. Her life is spared when a little robber girl demands to have Gerda as a playmate."
Noelle gets taken by someone who wants Noelle for a selfish purpose, and isn't very... mature..
"I can give her no greater power than she has already," said the woman; "don't you see how strong that is? How men and animals are obliged to serve her, and how well she has got through the world, barefooted as she is. She cannot receive any power from me greater than she now has, which consists in her own purity and innocence of heart. If she cannot herself obtain access to the Snow Queen, and remove the glass fragments from little Kai, we can do nothing to help her..."
This entire paragraph has very interesting Noelle parallels
"When Gerda reaches the Snow Queen's palace, she is halted by the snowflakes guarding it. She prays the Lord's Prayer, which causes her breath to take the shape of angels"
Religious themes in Deltarune are common. Noelle has Heal Prayer. Noelle is often connected to Deltarune's Angel, just... interesting
But yeah there's more stuff you could grab, especially if you actually read it rather than just going through the article but like...
??????????????
Also the reason I sent this to YOU of all people is because well... ur the first Deltarune person I thought of
A good resource for an in-depth, short review of the book, The Snow Queen, is best explained by John Solo HERE.
Oh boy, you definitely went into detail here haha. I can see the similarities of both stories. I think they are very different from one another, but i enjoyed reading your thoughts on it.

The Dark Doll-A Deltarune Theory/Narrative
Kris and Dess stood in front of the imposing double doors of the strange bunker deep in the forest. It was hard for Kris to not feel nervous, especially considering that it was the middle of the night, but seeing Dess be so carefree, whistling while spinning the rusty key-ring around her finger certainly put them at ease. They hadn't brought Asriel or Noelle; those buzzkills would never let them do something this exciting! "All right, enough admiring the fine handiwork of this door. You ready to go in, Kris?" Dess said, while moving to the door's lock. "Hm, if you are," was Kris's only response, a subtle-yet-playful jab that only their closest friends would pick up on.
As the giant doors creaked open and the pair made their way inside, the quiet noise that was only barely perceptible from outside grew louder, becoming the only thing to fill their senses in the darkness of this place. "Yeesh, can it GET any darker in here?!" Dess whipped out her cell phone to illuminate the stairs ahead of them, but even that light was soon swallowed up as they carefully proceeded into the seemingly infinite dark and the ever growing drone that gnawed at their courage to continue.
Dess yelped as she stumbled and fell onto the now suddenly level ground. "You okay, Dess?" Kris called out a bit too loudly, even though she couldn't have been more than a few feet ahead of them. "Ugh, yeah, but I think we finally found something!" Dess clawed up and dusted herself off, and started walking forward with her arms outstretched, feeling around for anything that might serve as a souvenir of this adventure, which Kris was also doing, but searching around the edges of the room they found themself in. Soon, Dess called out that she'd found something and Kris made their way over to her voice, "What is it?" "Dunno... it's rumbling a lot... it has a lot of tubes coming out of it... feels like there's some sort of gas coming out the top, but it's not hot at all..." Dess tried and failed to describe what she was feeling, which fostered an anxiety in Kris. "Uh, let's try not to take whatever that thing is, okay?" Kris muttered as they stepped back from Dess towards the stairs. "Y-yeah, you're probably right," Dess also stepped back, but both of them failed to notice a new sound joining the ubiquitous drone of this place.
Cracking. Splitting. Scratching. The roar of hundreds of tons of concrete and steel coming apart at the seams under the pair's feet. Kris immediately started running towards the stairs once they felt the ground shake, their building anxiety suddenly transformed into full on panic. They thought they heard Dess call their name as they stumbled on their way up the stairs, but they never looked back, and soon the rumbling died down as they saw the light of the moon as a bright pin-prick ahead of them. However, something new took their attention as strange, unreadable symbols, as well as the meaning of those alien words flowed into their mind.
TAKE THE DOLL, AND NAME IT
PULL DARK FROM IT LIKE LIFEBLOOD
AND AGAIN FROM THE EARTH
YET ALIGHTED IN RETURN
TILL HER EYES ARE CLOUDED IN FEAR
FREE THE NIGHTMARE
FREE THE GIRL
Sure enough, as Kris reached the top of the stairs, there was a large, featureless doll sitting at the top of the final step, the only thing of interest about it being a red, heart shaped patch in the center of its chest. Kris grabbed the doll and stood outside the bunker, waiting in disbelief for Dess to emerge from the darkness.
Yet she never did. Panicking once again, Kris ran to the one person who they could trust above anyone else, their brother Asriel. He was staying over at Noelle's house to help out with something or another, which only added to Kris' panic. How would they explain this to Dess' parents, or Noelle? They wouldn't. They would get Asriel's help and save Dess before things got out of control. So, with this plan renewing their courage, Kris made their way through the forest and Hometown to the Holiday household.
Asriel answered the knocking at the door to see his beloved younger sibling with an expression that he'd never seen them wear before, not their typical boredom or their occasional mischievous smirk, but an expression of deathly seriousness with eyes that seemed to be looking far past Asriel. Noelle was still awake, laying on the couch and listening to Kris' story, though it seemed that they didn't recognize her presence until she exclaimed in horror when Kris told them about the floor of the bunker seemingly crumbling beneath Dess' feet. "W-what?! She's n-not... I-is she?" Noelle looked like a ghost, and her voice was shaking like she was as cold as the grave. After a momentary surprise of realizing that Noelle was in the room, Kris said, "I... Don't think so, but we have to make sure the town doesn't go crazy over something they can't control, right?" "R-right! We'll find Dess before the town realizes something bad happened to her, r-right? Wait, I have an idea! Kris, you know which window leads to Dess' room, right?" Kris nodded, and with some sort of mutual understanding went different ways. Asriel was completely in shock, and his mind was going a mile a minute, he couldn't believe that something had happened to Dess, he didn't know what Kris and Noelle were doing, and he felt like he needed the full story from Kris before he made any decisions. For now, he simply watched as Kris and Noelle took things out of December's room to stage her disappearance as a runaway situation. As the Dreemurrs left for their own home, Noelle seemed so anxious that she might pass out, and Kris still seemed incredibly haunted by something.
In the morning, Kris finished their story about what happened to Dess, about the doll and the mysterious message that they received. "And... You're sure you didn't hallucinate this?" As unbelievable as all this seemed, there was something in the way that Kris told this story with so much grief that Asriel couldn't help but believe them, and a solemn nod is all he received to his question. "W-well, how are we supposed to 'pull darkness' from the earth, a-and how are we supposed to bring light to that darkness after the fact?" Asriel started to wonder if playing into this message was worth it or if he should just bring it to the police, maybe Dess was just trapped under rubble in the bunker- "First things first, we need to give this doll a 'name,' some sort of identity that'll be useful to us. Maybe, since we got some kind of instructions about how to create the darkness, the doll can help us bring the light?" Kris thought for a few moments before leaning close to the doll and whispering into it, telling it of its role, of how important it was to bring light to the darkness, of the heroes it would accompany on this mission of the gravest importance, a story filled with the hopes and dreams of the one telling it. After finishing their whispered story, they handed the doll to Asriel, "I think you should give it its proper name, you're way better at that stuff than me." Asriel couldn't tell if Kris was being genuine or if they were jabbing at Asriel's creativity like the rest of his friends, but either way, this responsibility had been given to him. However, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't think of a name that he liked at all, due in no small part to the doll's almost complete lack of identifying features, "Hm, if only... Hey, Kris, can I see your horns?" Kris obliged, and now Asriel seemed to be genuinely considering something, "Red... I think Ralsei or something would sound good!" Kris couldn't help but chuckle about how similar that was to Asriel's name but chose not to say anything and took the doll back, being reminded of the truly dire straits that the both of them were in.
"So, second thing second, how do you think we're supposed to 'pull darkness' from this thing?" Kris thought for a moment before saying, "It did say to do it like we were drawing the lifeblood from it, so maybe we just stab it in the heart?" Asriel wasn't convinced by this Occam's Razor approach, however, saying, "And what if that isn't how you do it and you destroy our only means of saving Dess?" Kris bristled at this critique, and pushed off their bed, and into the hallway, "Unless you have a better idea, I'm going to try mine, all right?" They soon returned with a knife from the kitchen, and Asriel, failing to come up with a counter argument in this short time, sighed and sat back to see how this would go. Despite their belief in the simple solution, Kris too believed on some level that more than a simple stab was needed to achieve this feat, they needed focus. Tightening their grip on the knife, Kris thought of what they needed to do to save Dess, thought of how this was their mistake that they needed to fix. They would do anything to right this wrong, no matter what it took, no matter how long it took, no matter who would happen to get hurt because of them. Dess was trapped wherever she was because Kris didn't even think to reach for her hand that must have been extended for them, and Kris was going to reach out their own hand into the dark, until it found her.

Some thoughts on the secret bosses
I have some thoughts and theories/incoherent ramblings about Deltarune that have been rattling around in my head all day, and I've decided to share them, if only because I have to talk to somebody about them. Also, I've come up to this section because WOW this post is getting long, and I haven't even gotten to my main point yet, so, uh, fair warning: It's a long one.
So, first of all, Spamton and Kris are quite similar characters, and sort of "rhyme." I want to use the word "Foil", but I don't think that's quite right, so for now, I'm going to go with saying that the characters Rhyme. Spamton is a puppet under the control of another being, and so is Kris. This is quite well-trodden ground, so I don't want to linger here much longer than I have to, but I'm starting with this because it's where my train of thought began.
I then remembered how I leaned towards the idea that the thrown-away flowers could be the secret boss for Deltarune Chapter 3, as they would have some severe narrative importance for Kris as a discarded relic of their divorced father. Then, the thought occurred to me that I have no reason to assume that all of the secret bosses are going to be narratively significant to Kris, aside from the motif of seeking or having freedom: They may be the main character, but there's already counter evidence to this idea, and that evidence is Jevil.
As far as I can tell, Jevil does not have a lot to do with Kris. He has quite a few things in common with Spamton (Nihilism, thrown-away thing, ect.), but Jevil does not rhyme with Kris. That being said, you know who Jevil kind of does rhyme with? The Player. For starters, both Jevil and The Player see the world as a game and make the people of the world its participants. Sure, Jevil may have decided to go around killing people and we as players didn't (Or rather, couldn't in chapter 1, with the most one could do being frightening enemies away), but we both played a game with the people of this world, whether that was reducing their HP to zero or ACTing until they were unwilling to fight back. There's also something to be said about the perspective of imprisonment: Much like how Jevil saw those outside his cell as imprisoned despite the protests of the fun gang, we see the characters as trapped inside a computer screen, or a television, or a Nintendo Switch, or whatever else you're playing on that I'm not thinking of right now. Their world is very much limited to just the confines of hometown in our eyes: They probably believe that there's a whole world out there, but to us, it sure looks like a prison. Another thing, and one that I only just now thought of, is that Kris is known to imprison the player's soul, much like Jevil was imprisoned by the other darkners. One final note, and this one's a bit of a reach, but I did warn you about the incoherent rambling: Both Jevil and the player live in a spinning world.
One more angle that I just now thought of is the angle of Spamton embodying Kris's fears and the idea of Jevil embodying the player's fears. Kris is, of course, afraid that they can't live without being under the control of their puppetmaster, and Spamton embodies this fear by dropping to the ground the moment their strings are cut, and only coming to life again after being strung back up, implying that Kris is screwed if they manage to get what they want. That being said, what does the player fear that Jevil represents? Well, if you ask me, my greatest fear when trying to get into an RPG is that I'm not going to be able to get invested in the story and characters, and Jevil definitely seems uninvested in the well-being of the darkners: He's more interested in playing the game than he is in the people within it. In fact, his treatment of characters in the story as obstacles to be overcome and little else is what got him locked up in the first place. Jevil may very well be the living embodiment of becoming so disinterested in a story that you just start mashing A until you get to the fun gameplay, and for an RPG player, there's not a whole lot worse.
Something that comes to mind is the fact that the player is treated like a character in the story: Most main characters in video games don't interact with the player playing them, but Kris frequently puts the character in Time-Out to go do their own thing without the player's intervention. With that in mind, as well as the fact that both Kris and the Player rhyme with secret bosses, it may very well be possible that there could be a pattern of secret bosses rhyming with different major characters in the story. This could mean that instead of every secret boss connecting back to Kris, there's a secret boss meant to connect to Kris, the player, Susie, Ralsei, Noelle and whatever other major players come up in later chapters.
The main reason I think I assumed secret bosses were always Kris adjacent was because of the freedom motif throughout them, but who's to say that freedom isn't just a motif for the whole cast? For example, Noelle certainly seems pretty constrained on freedom between not being able to do anything about her ill father or missing sister and having a very strict mother. Continuing down the list, Susie is probably either homeless or neglected, and probably feels pretty powerless to change that, not to mention her pushing the whole "Your Choices don't Matter" Idea onto Kris when half of her bullying seems to be projection. Ralsei seems to be least in need of freedom at first, but considering how closely he holds the prophecy, it seems that a certain level of predetermination is core to his worldview. As for the player, well, you may get all sorts of choices, but the steam page DID say there was only one ending, and yeah, there was a question mark at the end, but it is definitely put into your head early that this game is not as free as Undertale.
So anyways, if the secret bosses are all related to characters, then maybe we can use the relations between characters and compare them to the relations between secret bosses and see if there's anything interesting there. Well, Kris is probably not very fond of the player: I mean, we ARE the ones controlling them, and I definitely feel some malice in the way they chuck our soul around. So, what are Spamton's opinions on Jevil? Well, he certainly doesn't seem fond of "THAT DAMN [Clown around town]" at all, honestly. One thing in particular he cites that stands out to me is his need to bust his ass working while Jevil only cares about games: This sounds a lot to me like how Kris has to do all of the physical labor that would be expected of such a grand adventure while we simply get to experience it as a game. I'll admit that that part is a reach, but I do think that the mirrored disdain is worth something, at least. I would love to examine the other side of this relationship in detail, but Jevil barely talks about the people he's interacted with, and never even mentions Spamton (which all certainly fits with my interpretation of Jevil, but I digress), so that's going to be difficult.
I wonder if Spamton mentions any other secret bosses? Well, the only two characters he mentions that we haven't met yet are Tenna and Mike, and by all accounts, Tenna is almost certainly the TV that is going to be the main antagonist of chapter 3, so that just leaves Mike. I don't know if Mike is going to be a secret boss or have some other significance. That being said, let's suppose that he is to be a secret boss, and try and extrapolate from there. What does Spamton think of Mike, and what do we know about the guy? Well, Spamton is fairly fond of Mike, and based on the warning he gives us regarding not believing "[Anything you see on TV]", it seems that Tenna is spreading negative rumors about Mike, and, considering this Tenna character is the ruler of a dark world in the same league as Queen or the King of Spades, it wouldn't be surprising if these rumors stuck. You know who Kris is quite fond of and finds themselves swarming with negative rumors? Susie. It seems like you can't talk about Susie with anyone without the rumors about her behavior coming up: Even Noelle seems shocked by the idea that Susie is a nice person, and Noelle is probably the most Pro-Susie biased person in existence. I guess what I'm trying to say is I think there's a possibility that Susie and Mike are going to rhyme in the same way that Kris and Spamton do.
At any rate, seeing some secret bosses get into other character's heads the same way that Spamton did with Kris in that way that only said character truly understands is a narratively fascinating topic, and I hope the idea gets explored.
Okay, I think that's everything.

ok in the spirit of Posting Crackpot Speculation Because It's Fun, here's a breakdown of my “wingdings deltarune future player character” thing, which is to say here are a lot of words rationalizing a line of speculation that is silly on its face and is based on no evidence except 1) vague sense among the fanbase that we may play someone other than kris at some point and 2) i think it would be cool lol
my specific hypothesis here is going to hinge a little bit on the claim that part of, if not most of, an upcoming chapter (i'm going to say 6, unless it's some kind of completely alternate set of events that's hidden behind some combination of killing berdly and finding glowshards or some shit. im just. going to keep it simple here. ok.) might be a sequence set earlier in the timeline and largely meant to provide some insight into what happened to set everything in motion — ENTRY NUMBER SEVENTEEN, the dessappearance, and the ruined cliffs area, specifically; as well as, possibly, insight into the two missing characters (dess and gaster) as the people they were before shit went completely sideways
the evidence for this claim is that there is none and i pulled it out of my ass. however my reasoning is largely utilitarian: how the hell does a lot of this information get conveyed in a way that's as complete as it needs to be for basic story comprehension, while still being engaging for a player? probably in a lot of much better ways actually but an interactive flashback is, you know, also an option that could be chosen. if you wanted to.
i’m positing chapter 6 because Gaster Number Lol but also because it’s an interesting point for a radical shakeup in gameplay & lore revelation — right after chapter 5, which is likely to be quite heavy and end on a cliffhanger, and just before the narrative resolution in chapter 7, when the information from this sequence will be most useful to the audience.
playing as kris during this kind of Past Sequence doesn’t make much sense to me since they were presumably not playing an active role in most of it (same for the Vessel, who, uh, probably did not exist then). noelle is already well-established as a NPC with a distinct and defined personality, and i expect dess will be as well, which means either of them a silent PC creates a distance between the player and the PC that feels tonally confusing as well as like an unnecessary muddying of thematic waters.
Past Alive Guy Wingdings Deltarune however 1) is probably The Guy responsible for a lot of this, meaning it makes sense for such a sequence to follow him as a POV character, and 2) is fundamentally mysterious as far as concrete personality and motivations, given that we have yet to experience him actually interacting with another character beyond WHAT DO YOU TWO THINK, Give Egg, and Wave Happily, which means he’s a good fit for a role that necessitates some amount of player immersion. thematically there’s also a degree of cosmic justice at play, making the puppeteer the puppet, gaster having to directly confront and acknowledge his mistakes in order to right them, “and cetera.” this could even open opportunities for growth both for him and the Player — gaster possibly agreeing to let us in so we can help, and we as Player being able to do so in a way that isn’t coercive. but also maybe not lol (see notes below)
there are also some purely practical reasons why i think this works, which brings me to a bunch of haphazard and probably redundant notes that i wrote like a week ago and don’t care enough to edit right now:
Chadley Deltaruminations’s Top 10 Reasons Why Pre-Shatter Gaster Deltarune Future Player Character Makes A Certain Amount Of Sense To Me Even Though It Sounds Stupid As Hell On Paper And I Don’t Actually Believe That It’s A Real Thing That Will Happen
averts the unintelligible font issue (dude can’t talk)
maintains a lot of the mystery around him (dude can’t talk AND isn’t in full control of decisions he makes, meaning personality and other character traits remain subtextual and open to interpretation)
allows conveyance of potentially complicated plot-crucial information about gaster’s role in deltarune’s narrative in a way that’s active and interesting for players and probably less corny than A Backstory Monologue and also less obtuse and inaccessible than vague allusions and/or metadata that’s unavailable to console-only players
the specific position of “player character” in the context of deltarune is tonally appropriate for a character whose storyline seems to be fairly serious and nuanced and lacks room for Funny Little Guy antics but also demands relatability and emotional investment. our experience with kris certainly has moments of levity but there’s also a deep underlying sense of gravitas to kris as PC (for obvious reasons) that’s really only rivaled by Noelle in Side B (who is, of course, taking on a similar role to Kris)
potential thematic function as a type of cosmic justice for either puppeting others or at least contributing to their being puppeted as martyrs for his ends, however altruistic they seem. like hey doc maybe if you want this so badly you should be the one to do it
in tandem with previous point(s): instantly bypasses the emotional walls of UTDR’s Most Elusive Animal by forcing him into the most vulnerable position of any RPG character. to explain this further i feel like it would be OOC (at the very least corny) for UI Gaster to just volunteer potentially compromising information about himself/the various plot-crucial ways he may have fucked up in his past given how determined he seems to be to hide himself and deflect from his possible responsibility for Anything. i feel like a lot of character development would need to happen before that and given that his only active role as of chapter 2 seems to be Send Tweet, Give Egg, Wave From Car, and Be Sad About Dead Youth, it doesn’t seem reasonable to expect him to have changed that much by the time that information is going to warrant conveyance. maybe the man needs an intervention
subverts player/villain relationship and shit…… we expect to defeat the lich, maybe later learning his tragic backstory in a bit of exposition and/or vague lore that we don’t have a ton of reasons to actually care about. we don’t expect to live out his backstory alongside him. see also magus chronotrigger
within toby fox’s own oeuvre we have existing precedent (andonuts halloweenhack. lol) for presenting a villain’s POV via Literally Entering Their Mind in order to provoke emotional investment in and sympathy for that character
u know how gaster gets weird about us putting his name in during the vessel creation sequence. im just saying.
tenth reason. uh. I Like Him,
ok. thats it. bye

Ok here's the revised Deltarune tier list, I used a different list altogether and added some characters this time because I felt like it.
Soooo I'm not too sure what to do here, so many characters have moved places, let alone more being added...I guess I'll just talk about uh...everybody :P.
Btw I actually remembered to take screenshots of each individual tier this time, as well as make each tier its own distinct color so there is minimal confusion :D.
Starting with the "Absolute faves <3" tier...
#1: Lancer. Don't really have anything to say about Lancer lol, he's still at the very top of the list and always will be. Though, not a day goes by where I don't love Lancer that much more <3.
#2: Spade King. I'm calling King Spade King every time now regardless of context, deal with it :P. I'd say I like Spade King more than I used to, and not a day goes by where I want to scream at how horribly he gets misrepresented by the Deltarune community I SWEAR TO GOD-
Uh anyway, next tier :P.
#1: Rouxls Kaard. Yeah my opinion on Rouxls Kaard hasn't changed at all, I still think he's as awesome as ever. I'm waiting for the day when Rouxls actually reveals how competent and powerful he really is and utterly decimates the entire Lightner team (and Ralsei) :>.
#2: Jevil. Ok, truth be told, there are some days when I think I like Susie more than Jevil, and then there are days like today when I like Jevil more than Susie. It is a continuous cycle and I for the LIFE of me can't make up my mind >-<. Jevil will stay where he is for now, partly because I have so much history with the jester. I don't like Jevil any less than I used to though--I arguably like him even more. It's just that I'm having a deeper appreciation for Susie as the days go by. Speaking of which...
#3: Susie. Man I freaking love Susie, I love Susie more than I ever used to. I literally bought the Rude Buster shirt from Fangamer not too long ago and I GOT A SUSIE PIN AND SOME ART OF HER AND NOELLE I LOVE IT :D. Ok but yea Susie rocks, love her so much, don't know if I like her more than Jevil yet, therefore she's staying put until further notice.
#4: Rudinn. RUDINN IS SO GODDAMN UNDERRATED. YOU ALL BETTER LIKE RUDINN MORE AFTER THIS OR I WILL COME TO YOUR HOUSE AND TALK TO YOU ABOUT RUDINN FOR TEN HOURS STRAIGHT. I WANT TO SEE MORE RUDINN FANS RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW.
#5: Kris. Kris has moved up! Albeit slightly! I think Kris is the first character to actually move in my list lol. Honestly my opinion on Kris hasn't really changed. It's more my opinion on other characters that's changed. Kris is still awesome and a great protagonist :D.
#6: Rudinn Ranger. Ok so upon reflection, I realize I may have ranked Rudinn Ranger a BIT too high last time lol. I still love them and find them SUPER interesting, but they just don't get enough screen time. Someone start a petition for Toby Fox to give Rudinn Rangers more screen time, pls and ty :>.
#7: Berdly. BERDLY MAH MANNNNNN, I love Berdly SO MUCH more now you have no idea. Guy was a GODSEND in Chapter 2 I kid you not. TOTALLY understand why some love him so much, honestly deserves more attention than Noelle imo.
Next!
#1: Ralsei. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I like Ralsei A LOT more compared to before. I literally have no idea why, nothing has really changed, but I just do. Genuinely confused at myself ngl :P.
#2: Spamton. SPAMTON HYPEEEEE, I REALLY like Spamton now :D. My opinion on him honestly keeps going higher and higher, though I doubt he'll be able to move past this tier.
#3: Seam. Another one I genuinely can't believe, I actually like Seam more than Swatch now. And a lot of other characters they were initially behind. But yet here we are, can confidently say Seam is INCREDIBLY underrated and deserves more love <3.
#4: Hathy. My opinion on Hathy hasn't really changed too much, I just kinda like them more for no reason. Also the fact that they don't talk is pretty cool, they must be the ones every other Darkner goes to for ranting and general babbling lol.
#5: Swatch. Still love Swatch, nothing's changed regarding that. I just like other characters more now :P. Also we need more silly interactions between Swatch and Rouxls Kaard, whether implied or not, simply because they're hilarious.
#6: Head Hathy. Uhhhh I got nothing for the Head Hathys, I still think they're the same as regular Hathys with a different color palette, albeit Head Hathys do seem slightly more aggressive.
#7: Swatchling. Swatchlings are still cool. Nothing else really left to say here :P.
Moving on!
#1: Tasque Manager. Tasque Manager is...still not bad lol. Nothing's changed since the previous tier list, just like the Swatchling :P.
#2: Queen. Holy guacamole Queen moved up an entire goddamn tier. This might be because I added more characters this time around lol, but yeah, I do like Queen more than I used to! I still don't find her great, but she's ok :).
#3: Noelle. I'm even more surprised by this one. As much as I love to bash on Noelle sometimes, I truthfully don't hate her and think she's a decent character. I just don't vibe with her much, which is ok!
#4: Sweet Cap'n Cakes. Like I did last time, I'm grouping 'em all together. My opinion on them hasn't changed either, I still think they're decent and have some intriguing lore.
#5: Addison. This applies to all four Addisons--this specific tier list only had the yellow one. All are fine, they offer Spamton lore which is cool, though I could say this for Swatch as well. Idk, never really got the type around 'em, but they're not bad.
Neeeeeeeext :P.
#1: Rudolph Holiday. Decided to add this guy in even though he only appears in Hometown. Rudolph is...ok I guess. I don't really like him, but eh, he has some intrigue I suppose.
#2: Werewerewire. Opinion hasn't changed on Werewerewires, they're ok, imply some interesting stuff, the end.
#3: Werewire. Same as Werewerewires but less interesting :P.
#4:. Mr. Society. I literally had to look up this guy's name lol, same with the next character. Mr. Society is all right, but MAN he doesn't do ANYTHING! He just exists, it's no wonder nobody talks about him :/.
#5: Mr. Elegance. My opinion on this character is exactly the same as Mr. Society, but I like Mr. Elegance slightly less because I prefer Mr. Society's design.
And finally...
#1: Clover. My opinion on Clover hasn't changed at all, I think she's super unique in terms of design and execution, but I for the LIFE OF ME can't bring myself to like her. I sincerely apologize to all Clover fans >-<.
#2: Jigsaw Joe. Pretty sure this is the one Jigsawry you could buy something from. I don't like him, I think he and the other Jigsawrys--or is it Jigsawries?--by extension are super annoying ;-;.
#3: Jigsawry. Just don't like 'em, find them annoying, moving on.
#4: Mallius. Looking back I should probably put Mallius above Jigsawry and Jigsaw Joe, but can't bring myself to correct it because I still don't like him and he would be in the same tier anyway :P.
#5: K. Round. K. Round is literally the one character I outright despise. It offers nothing to the story except as a blockage to prevent you from progressing, and ITS BOSS FIGHT IS SO LONG, AND IT HAS TWO OF THEM?? Genuinely WHY? It serves NO purpose other than to be annoying, and for that, it deserves this spot.
Honorable mention here is C. Round, I would include it but it wasn't on the list. I hate C. Round even more because it's literally completely useless, and turns into K. Round twice, whom I also despise >:/.
Ok that's it, hopefully my opinions on the Deltarune characters don't majorly change until future chapters come out because I swear if I have to redo this ONE MORE TIME-

The voice in their head says, with all the confidence of a straw wrapper being slowly torn to shreds, I have a crush on Noelle. Kris yells, internally, WHAT???? I have a crush on— the voice trips over itself and into Kris’s throat, coming out externally as, “you weren’t supposed to hear that. You weren’t supposed to hear that. How did you hear that?” Uh, because we share a brain? Kris flails. Pretends to flail. Kinda hard to flail in a headspace they can only see like, a quarter of the time. Dude!! What!! The fuck!!! Are you trying to psych me out or something? That’s my SISTER!!! “Yeah, well, she isn't mine!” (Kris's headmate/soul/mostly appreciated brainfriend feels all those mushy things Kris has never been able to comprehend.)
hey deltarune nation its been a while. i return to you with synthfic!!! also thoughts about being a loveless aromantic, for aromantic awareness week. hope you enjoy! <3
#deltarune#kris dreemurr#i write#i have so many thoughts on kris being aromantic ok#like soooo many and its only half bc im that too lol#but yes <3 loveless aromantics for the win#also synth for the win. i love you synth you are real and canon to me

also, i know i have yet to post any of my own art on here, but i (mod ✨) take commissions if you would like a more complex piece than the doodles i offer! you can dm us and one of us can give you more details if youd like ^w^
hi! hoping to run a kin+fictive request blog, or whatever theyre called! basically, send in requests about characters you kin, characters you have/are fictives of, or even just if you like the character! we dont mind!
you can send in any requests reasonable of a blog like this, however i cant promise anything! and if it isnt on the list below please explain it to me because we may not know what exactly youre talking about! thank you!
i can definitely make moodboards, name ideas, pronoun ideas, and positivity posts (the more detail the better for all of those!), and if were feeling well, doodles! (again, be as detailed as you like!) those may take a bit longer/be rejected dependent on circumstances though! ^^; as for canon calls you can send in an ask of what you want posted and we will post the ask for you!
ALSO as for what im willing to make stuff for, uh nothing is off the table right now but i am familiar with deltarune/undertale and fnaf the best! but you can request anything! (when it comes to aus you may have to be quite specific as there are a lot!!) ((also, problematic sources/fandoms/media are fine! depending on the nature of the media in question, certain tags may be applied for the safety of anyone interested in looking into that media for whatever reason (ie warnings for the source having gore, murder, poor taste portrayals of plurality, nsfw content, incest, anything i can think of that may be triggering. or anything someone asks to be tagged! we may not be familiar with the media and so we wont be able to cover everything ourselves!) feel free to ask us to tag something if you feel its needed! /genuine))
blog is run by two headmates from a system, (kris and stars) dont drag us into syscourse we are not here for that. systems+plural folk of any origin are welcome here! as are non-systems! this place is for everyone! (but please, singlets/non-systems, be mindful that fictives/introjects/etc are NOT roleplaying, we are real people!)
introductions, kris is a fictive from deltarune, as am i! i am an oc-esque version of the player within the world of deltarune however. (please, if you have issues with it, i ask that you keep it to yourself and be nice.) you can ask us stuff but both our memories are a lil wonky sometimes! but we are open to talking! (well, i am, kris doesnt front much but is okay with me sharing what i know!)

There's a lot of interesting stuff about Deltarune.
Like, for starters, we know the mysterious voice is Dr. Gaster. Like, most of us who dived into the UT mysteries (against instruction no less), know who it is.
[ They're known as the Gonermaker in the game files. We know who the goners are associated with. ]
With some additional confirmations by information seen: ... Not just confirmed fourthwall breaker, but also, confirmed fourthwall hijacker. ... He's not the Narrator, he is One of the Narrators. More specifically, he's the overarching Game Mechanics. SAVEs, Profiles, Character Creation... That's overarching Game Mechanics. ... Unlike the other entity, the good doctor is optimistic that we'll make good choices and a positive future. A lot like some other skeletons we can name. ... Name you or your character creation / the vessel, Gaster, and the game kicks you. We see you there, Doctor.
The game is run like its an experiment. The good doctor makes comments, and wants to see what we'd do. Its not like it affects him at all, we can just reset, and nothing will happen to him.
He encourages good decisions, but he's not going to stop us if we decide to go... a Weird Route.
( Good chance that, like how Flowey and Chara can mess with our single save, Gaster can mess with all three of our Profiles. Maybe our decisions across three timelines will have a tying effect )
( I should also point out, that from UT's perspective of "One save per Soul", we're in control of Three Souls--. Who the other two are, beyond the Red Soul is unknown, because the other two heroes clearly don't have souls or profiles we control. Maybe there's a spiritual analog to Chara and Frisk, and maybe, Kris is actually been a separate entity? It would make sense... )
The Knight is associated with Hands, just like the "Man who speaks in hands". So we're looking at someone associated with Wingdings. Which means, the Knight is, or serves, our fair doctor. Since they clearly don't serve any of the kings or queens seen in game.
The Knight, or perhaps another Knight, is associated with Eggs.
How do I know that? Because when you put Eggs in UT's Wingdings format, you get three hands who point in the direction a Chess Knight would move.
( I did not discover this on my own, other people found it first, and I take info from thems. )
Given that DR / UT runs on Homestuck rules of Symbolism, every pedantic stupid little detail counts. The Knight is associated with Eggs.
Eggs are treated akin to Homestuck's pumpkins, in that they are odd anomalies that, if you acknowledge, they vanish. Well... Temmies know eggs.
But it does sound like the Eggs act like Goners...
If the Knight isn't Gaster, they're certainly someone whom Gaster is acting through.
This could mean that the Knight has been following us out of sight, observing what we'd do. And uh... giving us an egg in our trying times.
( Gaster himself was treated as quite the Easter Egg in Undertale after all. But its rude to talk about someone who's listening. )
( Hm... Isn't a form of spaghetti noodles called Egg Noodles? )
( The wingdings translator doesn't seem to like that combination very well. )
( DON'T EAT THE NOODLES, THE TASTE IS UNDESCRIBABLE )
The phone calls sound like Entry 17. They also sound like the Memoryheads from the True Lab.
But given how Gaster, so far with what's seen, doesn't seem to be... well... overly malicious. He wants to see what happens, and might give an oddity (like an egg), and thinks that C and D are blood types, considers our party to be very very wonderful, and tends to particularly neutral about things (He'll give us choices like Love and Hope, but also Fear and Disgust, and seems to acknowledge that we can like something but we can also have a problem with it too, without much issue. )
And clearly isn't affected by anything we'd do, persay...
... So chances are low that he's the mysterious someone that's on the Phone Calls, either ours, or Spamton's. And while he'll give a tyrannical king a good thrashing, and maybe open up a world-ending-portals...
( The guy did make something that would shatter him across time and space, and his UT stats are in the hundreds to thousands, its in character. )
... He doesn't seem to be the kind that would willingly try to break someone's mind, cause Spamtom or Jevil.
( Otherwise, Alphys would've lost her own gourd just reading his notes. )
So that means, someone associated with him, but certainly not acting in his interests, is making phone calls.
Now this next bit, won't quite line up with the above, and is probably just total bullshitting on my part.
Because now I'm looking at metanarratives and breaking the FIFTH wall (IE, referencing prior works).
UT and DR take inspiration from Toby's Halloween Hack, yes... but they also take inspiration from Homestuck. UT's very areas have been pointed out to resemble Derse (Ruins), The Land of Frost and Frogs (Snowdin), The Land of Wind and Shade (Waterfall), the Land of Heat and Clockwork (Hotland) and Prospit (The judgement hallway). Leaving the Land of Light and Rain and New Home, as odd ones out.
We've got two royalty, a Queen and King, not unlike the Black and White Royals of SBURB.
In DR, the Queen of Chapter 2, definitely rings as being based on Roxy Lalonde of Homestuck.
And in UT, we've got a sweaty horse guy with muscles, who is enough of an Equius Zahhak ref, that Toby Fox joked bout being sued by Andrew Hussie.
In Homestuck's COLLIDE, we have an outright Undertale reference with Davepeta's battle against Lord English. Time and Heart mixing to have an Undertale feel. (and of course, Toby did work on COLLIDE's music. )
Even in Detalrune, the concept of becoming an more idealized self (going into the Darkworld to be a Hero) is not unlike godtiering, and Hometown isn't unlike John Egbert's old neighborhood.
So taking some metanarrative analysis isn't out of the question here. Its just, probably not going to be very exact.
... But its something to think on.
So.
In the line up of Papyrus and Sans, and knowing where DR / UT's metanarrative roots lie, they do, in fact, line up with another group of characters from Homestuck, and by extension, a much older work of Andrew Hussie.
And that work is Problem Sleuth.
( I would know, I actually got into both Homestuck and Problem Sleuth, because of Undertale and doing a metanarrative analysis like this... and ended up landing in that fandom so hard, I started doing classpect analysis and greater symbolisms there. )
So... Give you a hint.
I'm a member of the Midnight Crew~
If we make this fun little metanarrative symbolism and its snarky horseshit work...
That means that Sans is an analog to Clubs Deuce and Ace Dick, and Papyrus is an analog to Pickle Inspector and Diamonds Droog.
[ Papyrus' rough draft did have him with a fedora and being a rather nasty customer, not unlike our fedora wearing hooligans here. ]
If we take Hearts Boxcars / Hired Muscle as odd ones out, due to being the Heart (and thus, important to a different set of characters in UT / DR).
[ And let's face it, they weren't very important to Homestuck / Problem Sleuth either ]
( Unless anyone wants to say there's a super secret fourth skelebro. )
That leaves Gaster with Problem Sleuth and Spades Slick. One was the main hero of one adventure, and the other one of the main villains / antagonists / universe enders of the other; both are leaders of their subsequent groups. ... Slick himself was an Archagent and is considered a Royal of Derse, with a direct connection to the Queen.
That leaves Gaster with our Spadesy boys.
What a coincidence that the Spades are our focus cards in Deltarune, huh?
[ Wingdings a code, Aster is both a typeface and a Flower and a Star, and the Spades are associated with Knives and Swords. In game terms, Spades Players are associated with Easter Eggs, of which Gaster is one both meta and in-story... ]
[ How very, very interesting... ]
ADDENDUM:
Who is the one who disposes of the Vessel, the other Entity here? Well, while we can point the fingers at Chara, there is, in fact, another associated character who is capable of silencing their speech patterns and even changing their typing quirk, who is powerful, who is associated enough with Gaster to get away with pulling a fast one. ... And who knows, that "Nobody can choose who they are in this world". After all, everything is just, reset in the end, right? Its Sans. He might even be the one making the phone calls, and talking to dark crystal holders. After all, the characters he's talked to have an indirect connection to him. ... But its more than a little hard to think of him as a villain. I mean, the goofy pun guy who plays pranks? Who's vocal pattern is a cut and edited voice clip of Patrick Star from Spongebob? While the villain thing is an idea, I also doubt my own claim here. There's gotta be someone else we're not seeing...
If we translate Gaster's usual title, "HIM" into wingdings, we get a hand pointing down, an open hand, and then a Bomb.
"Down below, reaching out, Disaster awaits?" ...At least, that's the closest I could symbolically translate. For all I know it probably means "LOOK DOWN, HIGH FIVE, NO ITS A BOMB"
The man is associated with Giygas. Which is funny... Doesn't Papyrus have some design details that link him to Earthbound's Starmen?
I'm just sayin'...
Its something to think about.

This is one of the Deltarune theories im more proud of/confident in. The basis of the theory is essentially who kris' "equivalent" is in undertale.
In undertale, through the true pacificst route you learn more about Alphys and Flowey. Primarily that in her studies to try and cure fallen down monsters she accidentslly made flowey. A monster with time travel abilities and a physical body
Also, in that universe Alphys was a replacement for the previous royal scientist after his... "death"
Then when you look at the deltarune, Alphys is a TEACHER who is replacing Gerson Boom, who also died recently. And we have a kris, a human with the ability to time travel AND to remove their own soul. Aswell as the fact motifs of death and drowning follow kris EVERYWHERE
The crux of this theory is mostly that, at some point in the past, kris fell into the lake and drowned, or nearly drowned. Dragged out of the water, kris is brought to the bunker where either Alphys (or more likely) Gerson, placed an artificial soul into kris' body to revive them.
This essentially makes kris, not the equivalent to one of the humans, or to flowey. It makes kris equivalent to THE AMALGAMATES
So uh, any questions?

🔥 undertale or deltarune :)
It took me a minute to think about one that I haven't already said before but like sdhjgkfd there are a lot sdjgnkfdh. PLUS the fact that I don't think I really interact with the fandoms that much anymore I kind of just stay in my own little corner but dsghjkfg yknow.
For Undertale:
UUUH I think the big one that people get upset with me for is that I don't like Soriel dshgjkfdg??? That isn't like. the obligatory "Papyrus is super cool and interesting" stuff lmao. It's just not my cup of tea dshjgkdfh I kind of interpret their relationship as a mother/son one post pacifist but Sans and Papyrus are also Frisk's uncles hope this helps sdhgjkndfh. (And I'm just saying it now before it becomes ✨a thing✨ again: I literally do not care if people ship it it's just not something I personally enjoy dshgjkfdh)
For Deltarune :
cause I feel like there's a lot more room for less obvious opinions lmao I uh. I'm not super active in the Deltarune fandom (cause again I kind of like to just stick to my own little corner) so from what I've seen.. I don't think Kris is like?? Evil??? They're just a kid going through something REALLY weird and we have 2/7 of the story so we're missing a LOT of pieces dshgjknfdh. Same thing with Ralsei?? I think there's a lot of interesting stuff going on with Ralsei but I genuinely do not think it's anything malicious or intentional???
Anyways I hope that's like. Coherent and makes sense lmfao dsghjkdg
#thanks for the ask!!#sorry it took a minute the second I reblogged the post i had to start paying attention in class lmfao dghjkfnh#OH ALSO??? people are REALLY weird about Toriel in Deltarune.#Stop that sdhjkgfd
