Top 10 Joey moments?

In no particular order...

1) New Teen Titans: The Judas Contract The Judas Contract is a solid comic all around. It does a good job of establishing who Joey is and his abilities. Some bonding moment with the team really bring it together. I love this as a character introduction because how Joey is presented is upheld for the rest of the run (we don't talk about what happens at the end). Up until what I can only describe as one of the most hilariously bad plot twists from DC I can think of, Joey's gentleness and sensitivity is upheld beautifully. As for the Wolfman and Perez's panicked over corrections later on, it's at least something to laugh at.

2) Convergence: New Teen Titans This comic genuinely made me cry. Looking past the distinct and gorgeous artwork, the moment between Joey and Kole is really lovely. After Deathstroke (2016), it's good to see Joey's identity being treated with the respect it's given here. The quiet intimacy of this scene makes me smile. There's no big announcement, not fanfare. It comes and goes, and it's nice

3) Tales of the Teen Titans #45 Joey and Raven's relationship is a highlight of this incarnation of the titans for me. This issue features one of my favorite scenes between the two in the car ride from Manhattan Collage.

While I have a lot of problems with the idea that none of the Titans know any ASL, I think it's nice within the narrative to show Raven being the first one to learn, especially during this part of her history. As the comic says, she reaches out as best she can, which makes what happens in issue #48 all the more heartbreaking.

4) Tales of the Teen Titans #50 Is it cheating to include this issue right after the others, especially since I'm picking it more for the full issue than Joey specifically? Maybe. Do I care? No. What can I say, I love this comic. It's a real feel-good issue. For once, the team is (almost) all together and (almost) all happy. The artwork is great and the writing is really top notch here. This is a party I want to be at. Joey and Dick on guitar together is the icing on the fully proverbial cake here as I'm sure Terry and Donna's was better.

5) Teen Titans (2003) #40-47 I really didn't expect to enjoy this run. I'm not a fan of most of the characters and when I first started reading, I hated the direction Joey was being taken in. And... yeah. The book isn't great. As soon as this arc ends, it turns back into crap for poor Joey. But I liked seeing him here anyway. I thought he and Rose were sweet. If only if hadn't ended so badly.

6) Deathstroke (2015) #2-6 Poor Rose. DC just can't get enough of sticking her at the top of their brutalized Asian women list. If you're interested in checking this comic out for Joey, stop after issue #6. Issues #17-20 taje a weird turn. So why's this on my top ten? I'm a sucker for narratives exploring Slade's dedication to his children. While this comic is as much a mess as the rest of the n52, I found myself enjoying at least that. Joey making people's heads explode I could have done without.

7) Tales of the Teen Titans #51 & 52 This comic is awesome. Joey's relationship with his mother is well written and he really gets a chance to shine. Joey is fiercely protective of Adeline, going one-on-one against Cheshire in a fruitless but badass move.

Amber is an awesome character, working seamlessly with the plot and helping to establish more about Joey's life outside the Titans. Her obvious fondness for Joey is sweet and her loyalty to him ans his mother is a cool way to reveal more about Watchers, Inc. Another thing I like about this story is how genuinely flawed Adeline is. She clearly wants what's best for her son, but she falls short. Ultimately, she's very human. I like seeing a fictional parent who's neither good nor bad with her kid. There are moments of both, as demonstrated so well by this comic.

My main complaint, as it so often seems to be with the Titans, is that Gar is a massive asshole, to the point he's easily my least favorite member of the team. This story is no exception, seeing Gar jumping to some fairly heinous conclusions and saying some extremely ableist things. It's one of the comics that made me wonder why they keep him around. They make up a few issues later, but the whole thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

8) The New Titans Annual 6 I generally avoid stories centered around Tamaran because I don't find it very interesting a setting. That being said, I like this issue alright, a small moment between Nightwing and Jericho especially.

I'm a sucker for the limitations of humanity being explored. The acknowledgement of those limitations here matched with the resolve to to use the unique skills they bring tot he table has a Star Trek vibe that I love. Also, the accidental reading that these two hooked up at the wedding sends me.

9) Secret Origins (1986) #13 This comic is nothing spectacular, but I really enjoyed it nonetheless. Framing the recounting of Dick's origin as him talking through his memories and anxieties with Joey is a nice one. There are a few really great moments of Joey being reassuring and refusing to let his friend fall into the loner mindset that would firmly take hold a decade later. I like seeing Joey's compassionate side with a character other than Raven, especially a male one. It's a neat change of pace. Overall a pleasant read.

10) Teen Titans Spotlight #3-6 I couldn't resist including this miniseries on the list. The main problem for us now is, of course, Penny. But since Joey's sexuality was a later retcon, something I highly encourage checking this article out to learn more about, it's not doing any real harm.

Joey taking off on a solo adventure with his mother by his side is awesome. There are some fantastic character beats in this one. Joey's grief is well handled and extremely relatable. I've come back tot his comic a few times now, and every time I enjoy myself.

A=Attractive (What do they find most attractive in a partner?) 

Karl just loves looking at your pretty face. He loves the familiar feeling he gets when he looks at you. He loves your nose and how it feels under his fingers. He loves the way your face fits perfectly on his shoulder. He loves cupping your face with his hands and looking into your eyes. It might be really cheesy, but Karl also just adores your smile. This man just melts at the way you’re entire face lights up when you laugh.

B=Best memory (Their favourite memory of you) 

Karl is a simple man lmao. Obviously he loves going out and doing fun things with you. But he would way rather enjoy your company in private. Just the two of you. His favourite memories of being with you probably consist of being cuddled up and completely devoured by blankets while watching a movie. Or you sitting on his lap while he plays Minecraft, struggling to stay awake while he keeps planting little kisses on the top of your head. 

C=Cuddles  (What type of cuddles do they like?) 

OMG KARL IS SUCH A HOE FOR CUDDLES. Whenever you two lay in bed together he just holds you so close to him the entire time. He just loves feeling you so close to him and knowing that you’re safe and happy. He loves being bigger spoon so he can wrap his arms around you and rest his head on top of yours, but he definitely won’t complain about being little spoon either. He loves resting his head on your chest, just listening to your heartbeat as he has his arms wrapped around your waist. 

D=Dirty mind (Do they have a dirty mind?) 

Karl definitely has a dirty mind oops. He is very open about it too. He can be very soft with you but when he’s whore knee he just wants to have his way with you. That can mean planting sloppy kisses on your neck from behind you while your just minding your business in the kitchen, or giving you ‘that’ look when you come out of the shower with just a towel wrapped around your body.

E=Effort (How much effort do they put in the relationship?) 

Karl is on it 24/7 to make sure your happy. He loves planning little dates, even if it’s just a walmart run or a drive around the neighbourhood, he just wants to spend time with you. Whenever you’re going through a tough time he will drop everything to make sure you’re okay. For example he could be streaming, and you would text him saying you’re sad, not knowing he would be streaming, and he’d just end the stream right there to go spoil you with cuddles and loving words.  

F=First date (What was your first date together) 

Your pre-dating relationship was probably either a friends to lovers one, or an enemies to lovers one. Constantly teasing each other but everyone, including your friends, would know what was really going on. You probably got tricked into going on a date with him for the first time, both acting like you hated it but secretly falling harder and harder for each other with every second. 

G=Gentle (How gentle are they with you?) 

This dude literally treats you like he could break you. He hold your hands like they’re little butterflies and plants the softest kisses on your forehead. He’s also super protective and possessive of you. He hates the thought of you going out alone, and whenever you two are at a party or something he’s just constantly holding your hand or having his arm wrapped around you, to show you’re his.

H=Hands (Do they have nice hands?)

To be honest, Karl’s hands are probably one of his best features. He takes such good care of them and loves wearing rings. He also loves wearing black nail polish, and constantly wants you to polish his nails for him. He could easily do it himself but that’s not the point lol

I=Impression (What was their first impression?)

The first time Karl saw you walk into a room he lost his breath for a second no joke. He was just so taken aback by your charming attitude and thought you were the most gorgeous person he had ever seen. He just immediately walked up to you to ask you for your name. 

J=Jealousy (Do they get jealous often? If so what do they do?)

Karl is such a pouty little jealous boy. He gets really whiney and needy in public when you’re not giving him enough attention. Whenever he sees someone hitting on you, he just gets extra lovey-dovey with you, wanting to make sure everyone knows you’re his. You would know exactly what was going on but just play along with it. One time you joined him on a filming day with the mr beast crew. All the boys would give you lots of attention, making flirty jokes mostly just to mess with Karl. Which worked because oh my god you had never seen him so touchy. You would ask him what was up and he would act like nothing was bothering him. “I’m fine why? Am i not allowed to show affection to my gf/bf/so anymore?” 

K=Kisses (What type of kisses do they like/give?)

Anything that has to do with touching you, Karl is a sucker for. (have I mentioned this man’s love language is 100% physical touch?) He litarally kisses your neck or forehead every 5 seconds, it’s just his way of showing he’s there. He doesn’t shy away from pda either. He won’t hasitate to kiss you passionately in front of a crowd of people. He doesn’t care who’s watching, all he cares about is you. 

L=Love  (Do they show their love?) 

As I said, this dude’s love language is definitely physical touch. After that probably comes quality time. He will get super pouty if the two of you haven’t gotten to properly spend time with each other for a while. For example, whenever you’re on your laptop working on something for school or work he will get super whiney, constantly begging for you to get off your laptop and come cuddle with him. He’s less good at expressing his love through words of affection. Obviously, this man tells you he loves you all of the time, but he gets scared about having deep conversations about your relationship, he’s just scared he’ll say something stupid and mess it all up.

M=Memory: (Their favourite memory in general?)

His favourite memory in general 100% has something to do with you. If he had to pick one, it would probably be that one time he introduced you to all his friends from the SMP. He’d be on a videocall on discord with Dream, George, Sapnap, Alex, Tommy, and Wilbur. They had been begging to meet you since forever, but he always said no, because he was scared they’d say something to embarrass him. But after some persuasion of you, he finally gave in. “HOLY FUCK I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU’RE REAL THATS SO POGGERSS!” Alex yelled when you joined the call and sat next to Karl. You burst out laughing. You all just played Minecraft and messed around with each other for that night. All of Karl’s friends really liked you, and Karl himself couldn’t be prouder. 

N=Nickname  (What nicknames do they call you?)  

He has practically replaced your real name with “Baby” at this point. He loves calling you baby or babe in front of other people to show that you’re his. But when it’s just the two of you he would definitely be the type of guy to call you something really cheesy like sweetheart or darling. You love it tho :)

O=Over  (What happened the one time you ‘broke up’?)

The only thing you and Karl would ever fight about would be whenever your schedules would clash and you would spend less time together because of work/school. A lack of communication and both being exhausted lead to a huge fight once. Ending with you both thinking it just wasn’t gonna work out like this. You had slept in a nearby hotel for a night or two, basically crying yourself to sleep every night, because Karl wasn’t laying next to you. After a few days of both being miserable you realized that the two of you are meant for each other. You showed up to your house again, and almost tackled Karl with how fast you ran into his arms. “I’m never letting you go again.” He whispered in your ear. 

P=Parents (What would they be like as a parent?)

You and Karl both think it’s too early to have children, but you love just having endless conversations about how amazing it would be to have a little baby of your own. Just fantasizing about showing the little thing off to all of your friends, thinking of ridiculous baby-names together. Everytime you have these types of conversations you just melt at the thought of Karl actually being a dad one day. He’d be perfect for it. 

Q=Quirk (Something special about them)

I’m not saying homeboy has abandonment issues but....whenever you get up in the middle of the night to go get some water or something, he either gets very twitchy in his sleep, or wakes up right away and asks you where you’re going. “Y/N?” He says with a sleepy voice. You reach out for his face in the dark and gently ruffle your fingers through his hair. “Only getting some water baby, I’ll be right back.” You reassure him. 

R=Romantic (How romantic are they?)

Karl doesn’t want things to feel forced. He just wants things to be effortless. Big romantic gestures and fancy restaurants scare him. He has a very specific way of showing his affection to you and you know this, so you don’t expect him to wake you up with breakfast in bed or anything. Making it even more special whenever he does pull something like that. 

S=Sad (What are they like when they’re sad?)

Karl didn’t really like showing any emotion to you whenever he would be sad, he felt like he’d be bothering you with his problems. But after you explained to him that you just want to be there for him whenever he’s feeling down, he started warming up to you. Sometimes he would just crawl in bed with you hiding his face in your shoulder. You would play with his hair while he talked to you about what bothered him. He always feels so comforted and safe with you.

T=Together (What are they like when you’re together?)

Karl can be super hyper. Constantly wanting to do stuff like bake cookies or play minecraft with you. You’d obviously always be down to do these types of things with him. But he could also really find the joy in simple things like just watching a movie or getting his nails painted by you. Whenever you would have these types of moments, Karl just keeps cracking little jokes to make you laugh. He also would be telling you how much he loved you every 5 seconds. Just so you know.

U=Understanding (How understanding and empathetic are they?)

Sometimes Karl can have a little trouble trying to get into your mindset. But he does think it’s super important to know what you’re going through and do his best to help you. Whenever you’re dealing with anxiety or depression, he makes sure to ask you what he can do to help you and be there for you. He tries to do as much research as possible, trying to find the best way to help you.

V=Value (What do they value most about the relationship?)

Karl cherishes the relationship you have for so many reasons. One of the most important ones being that he can have fun with you. Both understanding each other’s type of humour, finding joy in the same types of things. He just loves that you know and understand exactly how his brain works, because it’s very similar to yours. 

W=Wedding (Would they want marriage? If so what would they like?)

Karl literally proposed to you 2 months into dating. He knows you’re the one. It’s very clear to him. But after discussing it you both decided that having a wedding would be way too stressful right now. It’s definitely not that you wouldn’t marry him, obviously you would, but you both know that breaking up just isn’t an option, so why go through all that trouble, just to get it on paper? You both agreed on this, but after all Karl just wants to see that ring on your finger, just so he knows you’re his forever.

X=X-Ray (How well can they read you?)

Earlier in your relationship, Karl would often have trouble reading you, he would be very hyper and touchy with you, and would just be completely oblivious to the fact that you where sad or tired or something. But as he got to know you better, he learned exactly how to tell when you’d be sad. He knew to get you some food, put on a tv show and play with your hair, without you having to tell him you weren’t feeling like going out or doing something extravagant.

Y=Yuck (What they would never want in a partner)

Karl would hate to be in a relationship with someone who isn’t in it for the same reason as he is. He doesn’t like to ‘date around’. He want’s someone who was a very similar vision of their future, so that’s why he’s so lucky he found you. The most reoccurring arguments you two have are about not agreeing on your future. He finds it very hard to compromise and doesn’t just ‘agree to disagree’. 

Zzz (How do they sleep around you?)

Karl just has to touch you in some way when he’s sleeping. Having his arms wrapped around you, having his legs intertwined with yours, resting his face in the crook between your head and shoulders, you name it. He also loves to hold hands whenever you two are sleeping. As i said, this man gets very icky about you leaving him when he’s sleeping. So, he just wants to know you’re there. All of the time.

I'm kind of experimenting with Yandere, so I'm going to send you at least 2 Yandere asks. This is the first one. May I have Yandere 2p Allies and Axis that's Vampires and they're falling falling in love with reader. But the problem is, the Reader is a Werewolf..... a very powerful one ( One that can rival them, and it's very possible if the darling can dominant them ). But other than that, the Reader is like this Huge energetic innocent puppy that likes to tackle hug them.

Allen

God he’s in love with your personality

He wants you all to himself for the rest of time

But of course there’s an issue

1) you’re a werewolf and he’s a vampire, you’d never willingly go with him even if you do love him

And then there’s problem number 2) you’re incredibly strong for a werewolf and Al’s a little afraid you might be able to take him down if he tries anything funny

And though Allen doesn’t have to worry about you not loving him or leaving him, he can’t have you the way he really wants you since you’d definitely could send him into a late grave

Allen would definitely concede to the best of his abilities and not completely take you and lock you away from everyone

He’d definitely try some mind games on you though, and try to occupy your time as much as vampirically possible

And after some time he’d probably consider changing you or attempting to change you so you could be with him forever, even if it makes you hate him

He just can’t bare the thought of living without you

Oliver

As yandere as he is Oliver has never truly considered locking you away

He’s not much of a fighter and every tactic he could use to get you and keep you would make him very unhappy to use

All of those plans include heavy drugs and poisons since you’re a werewolf and much stronger than he actually is

And he doesn’t much care for the idea of keeping you drugged and high since it might mean he’d never see you happily frolic or smile at him again

That is simply a sight Oliver cannot live without anymore

So he would never attempt to physically cage you, but he’d try to emotionally cage you

Always has an excuse to why he needs you home and why you can’t go out with your pack anymore or go hunting with them

Maybe sometimes gives small doses of drugs in food or drink so that your more complacent and easy to convince

Would regretfully drug you the day he decides to attempt to change you into a vampire/werewolf-vampire mix

He cant have you fighting back or saying no, that is the only day Oliver might get violent and super controlling towards you

He just needs you to stay with him forever so badly he wouldn’t mind shedding a bit of your blood

Oliver just gets so paranoid and scared one day you’ll never come back from seeing your pack so he has to do something, anything, that will keep you with him

Matt

As I’ve stated before Matt is a more lax and chill yandere

So he’d be more apt to just tell you he wants you home a lot and that he wants to spend forever with you

And with the fact that your incredibly strong even for a werewolf and could most definitely match him in a fight makes him a bit nervous to be sneaky with you

Tho he is confident he could take you, especially is Kuma(?) was around to help lock you up

Matt does psychologically mess with you

Just to make you more dependent on him and more likely to agree with him

He does this until he’s positive you’d agree immediately once asked if you want to become a vampire like him

He wants it to be as consensual as possible since he does love you and your innocent puppy personality and doesn’t want to corrupt it too much by having to physically force you while he changes you

Matt wants to keep you as authentic as he possibly can while keeping you all to himself

Francois

Absolutely hates this predicament

Out of everyone he could’ve easily loved it had to be an energetic, powerful werewolf that he couldn’t manipulate or overpower easily

Francois curses his bad luck in choosing a partner, but loves you never the less

Francois would end up coming up with an elaborate plan to lock you up after completely gaining your trust

Though he knows you love him, he knows you’re wary of him being a vampire even now

And he thinks your smart for being wary, but it honestly amuses him that him being a vampire should really be the least of your worries

He’d have you chained in only a few weeks after planning it out, keeping your shifting/breaking out at bay with drugs and strong silver bounds as well as keeping you far away from the moon and it’s light

Francois wouldn’t change you immediately

He honestly likes you being a werewolf and not soulless and hell-bound like him

But he might change his mind if you start getting more aggressive or show signs of breaking out

Francois can’t lose you, you make him feel happy even if you scream obscenities at him for locking you up

Viktor

Honestly he gets kind of pissy when he thinks about this perdicament

He’s a vampire ffs and yet he hesitates to take you, a literal ball of sunshine and energy, all for himself because you’re scarily powerful and dangerous

It really rubs him the wrong way to think about it

Viktor is no coward, however, so he’s going to make a very calculated plan to get you all for himself

Once he gets you, he confines you as well as he can somewhere far away from your pack, possibly even gets rid of them if he has the time

Viktor is not likely to drug you, he’s not very fond of that unlike some of the others

He will torture you in anyway he sees fit, even if he loses his precious ball of sunshine in the process, to him it’s just an unfortunate but needed loss in his plan

He changes you very quickly

Him changing you breaks your ties to the pack, if they’re still alive, and makes you weaker and easier to deal with and keep

Viktor does love you, and that’s why he has to keep you like this for the rest of your lives

Zao

Zao is a simple man with a simple plan

He just gets relatively comfortable with you and then boom, druggy time

He doesn’t care if you don’t act like yourself anymore

To him it’s all the same and as long as he doesn’t have to deal with you in your super strong werewolf form he figures your personality is an acceptable loss

Zao really did love your sunshine personality tho so sometimes it does bum him out that he’ll never see you like that again

Probably didn’t consider changing you until wayyy after kidnapping you

I’m talking like a year or more before he realizes that’s a thing he could do

When he changes you nothing much changes

He notices you’re a bit weaker and more lethargic after the bite, but your about the same as before after a few weeks so he figures you’re perfectly fine and frozen in time like he is

Luciano

So angry and vocal about the situation

Like why did you have to be the most perfect creature he’s ever seen? Why did you have to be so strong and clever?

So salty about it

Luciano would try to not lock you up, but the second someone looks at you the wrong way it’s to the basement with you and the death of whoever dared trying something with his darling

He’s not above drugging you but would prefer not to if you just behaved so he didn’t have to

Doesn’t consider changing you for a long time

Luciano is almost in love with the fact that you’re so fragile that the passage of time would make you weak

He’d eventually change you before you got really old because at the end of the day he realized he couldn’t live without you

Lutz

Lutz is so in love with you but so frustrated with what you are

He’s strong, but lazy

He could match you, maybe even overpower you if he really tried, but it’s so frustrating that the one thing he wants doesn’t come with ease

If you’d’ve been any other creature, or god even better human, he would have no trouble stealing you away

But of course you were a werewolf who everyone loved and watched out for

Lutz would get so frustrated with himself and think himself into exhaustion many nights thinking of a no hassle way to get you home with him forever

Of course he finally does it while you’re sleeping thanks to some super strong sedatives he slipped you

He would consider changing you before you woke up or before the sedatives wore off just so everything would be so much easier on him and you’d be too high and out of it to ever really question him

So Lutz would naturally go with that plan, he bites you after settling you down in your forever prison

He does it out of possession more than needing you forever, Lutz just wants your pack and every other vampire and werewolf out there to know that your his forever

Kuro

Kuro loves the idea of you more than he actually loves you

He loves the power and status he’d get from changing and keeping

Of course he still is madly in love with you, but he’s more so in love with his power fantasy

Kuro would love to just waltz in and take you, but even he can admit that he would barely match you in a fight and he certainly can’t take on you and the rest of your pack at the same time

So he lures you to his home as sweetly as he possibly can

There he quickly knocks you out and chains you away

He’s likely to play with you for a week or maybe even as long as a couple of months before he decides it’s no longer fun and just wants you to be his forever

Having some decency Kuro would attempt to ask you if you consented to being changed

If you said no or put up a fight he simply knock you out and do what needs to be done

If you agree you’re playing right into his sick little fantasy as he sees this as a sign that he’s completely tamed you now, both mentally and physically

Owl on Warframe (part 2): Owlframes, chance games and butts

Ok so after some more time into it, I managed to advance on Warframe. Since the first part of this lil review thingie I spat out, there have been a few important changes and updates with the game but never the less the experience from it was pretty much the same when I tested it so let's go.

Retake: Your body is ready... not.

Ok so there's not a narrative intro here since we are midway through at this point. So far so good, the game has presented challenges and with a bit of skill you can pass them no problem. You go through the Sol System tackling down nodes, gathering resources and parts, getting more and stronger mods as well as fiding your style to play whatever frames you chose to keep. However, there is a point where the difficulty ramps up too much, its not really a bad thing other than a slight oversight on how the enemy progresses in stats as they level up. But never the less, things become harder from Jupiter as enemies sport better stats that are on par or can surpass yours, can take hits and can deliver more of a punch if you are not careful, as well as their mission objectives becoming a little bit more complicated to accomplish as they are getting smarter in some places.

It is when you reach Saturn that you'll be asking yourself "HOW AM I SUPPOSSED TO SURVIVE THIS??"

Jupiter's jump of difficulty wasn't so bad since now you are basically commined to throw a bit more of effort into getting better stuff, which is really not much problem, but Saturn is unforgiving if you didn't do that. Guess how I learned this.

So, once I had to make up the resources I needed to become stronger (which took some time) I could finally progress through the star chart as I used to from the start. You know you can do it when you can take down that one boss in just a few minutes/seconds of initiating battle.

This will go on the recomendations as well but let me tell you this: UPGRADE YOUR MODS. If you remember, I told you mods are a substantial part of the game, but it wasn't until I hit Saturn that I was forced to upgrade them as I went because until I reached there I actually never had need to upgrade them in the first place: just getting basic unranked mods was enough to carry me all the way until Jupiter and part of Europa. The boss I'm talking about too is actually on Europa so you are most likely to not progress if you went in like I did.

In any case, if you go upgrading your mods you'll find out you can progress as normal. But this also makes you upgrade any other new good mods you find along the way. In any case, is not something you can't solve but sometimes arrogance cant take the best of you. It will take some time to level and unlock stuff if you didn't already.

But anyways, once you have upgraded mods, the game's difficulty curve settles in a bit more and you can take on the following planets, at least until you reach Pluto. Having the right warframe for the job is also of help since some of their abilities are life-savers on some situations.

Personally speaking, among all my frames, my favorite warframe to use is Mirage Prime (thank you @mikonopants​ for helping me getting her, I’m indebted to you forever), or as I affectionally call her: (cl)Owlframe

She’s a clown, an owl, and a complete sweetheart, and I love her and her pretty, soft, round butt so much. But really her kit is useful for many situations so yeah she’s my to-go frame as she adequates to my play style. Besides she’s just so fun to play with and shes also the reason i got to finally try warframe in the first place

I still suck tho

Gameplay Extended: By the Power of VoidSkull

Now, everything I said on the first was good things but Warframe is not free of its problems. I’m not going to talk about bugs or glitches since the game on PC is technically still a beta so yeah this is strictly about gameplay features/mechanics. Trust me, I’ve had my fair share of encountering those but this is not of concern here.

As I mentioned before, enemies escale on stats the further you progress, which isnt bad, but because of the way that boost works you'll be hitting a big wall by the time you face enemies on the levels from 21 and forth, so getting your mod collection to higher ranks becomes a priority as well as upgrading your arsenal with more powerful weapons that suit your style.

Also worth mentioning is the change in layouts depending of enemy levels: the layouts themselves are not hard to navigate, but the more advanced the enemies are, the more you are required to kind of memorize the tileset's paths and shit to accomplish your tasks more efficiently since they become increasingly complicated as you progress. I dont know how many missions of Grinner Spy I've played but now I know the layout like the back of my hand and know how to approach situations best depending on which layout did I get.

There' also the inherent problem of getting your mods in place: you need a resource called Endo to increase your mod rank but you also gonna need credits as well. The credits are not much of an issue, but the Endo can be since its given on scarse quantities (a few hundreds) when you are gonna need thousands of it. There's also an inherent issue with how the weapon modding system works: any rankless weapon will start with mod capacity equal to your player rank, but because these are unranked you won't get any more capacity until the weapon's level exceeds your rank level. You can imagine how exhausting that could get for a player Rank 8 and not being able to throw some good shit until the weapon reaches rank 9 (since it will gain one extra point from here on).

With that last point comes about the double-edge sword of farming Affinity (experience): There’s just not a reliable way to level up stuff fast to get up to speed but there is nodes and issions that can help you mitigate that problem to an extent. The issue comes that without a proper set up, grinding Affinity becomes a tedious task, which eventually will get mixed in with credit farming as you are gonna get stuff that becomes pricier.

There’s also some mission types that can get you exhasperated becuase you either get lost on how it works or plain simple you just dont know what to do or the mechanics are half-baked. Although I like the mode, Archwing nodes can suck my ass because

You don’t get any mods for AW from normal play, you get them on AW missions. The problem: the mods don’t drop any reliably, so you are gonna die and die and die trying to get mods to make it bearable

You don’t get any blueprints for anything AW, you have to research those in the Dojo or spend platinum. And even then, if you do get the blueprints its just too much resources put into it since the parts for any of the AW weapons you get them by leveling up Syndicates to rank 3 minimum

AW is hard to control. Or rather: it keeps moving forward in space, and it doesn’t move quite right underwater. Combined with all the above I can see why people gets frustated with this otherwise neat mode

Pursuit is just bullcrap if you don’t have a Fluctus and Amesha at least

There’s also some things that can help you further down the line, but I’m writting them as recommendations instead since its not really that very important but can still be good to know

There’s also the important part: RNG. You know what this entails.

Also bear in mind: since I play solo, most negative aspects of the game hit me pretty bad.

Graphics Extended: The Forma of Water

Ok I didn’t talk enough of this but really, for what is worth the game features very nice looking graphics, and can also run on toasters as well. Its just a pretty sight to look when the game runs so fluidly with all GFX turned on and shit. Granted, some effects can be annoying for some people but deactivating them solves the issue.

Anyways, the little details, decals, and all that sort of crap going on gets me giddy

Now, for the extreme toaster guys, there’s also an option to minimize the internal game resolution by minimum 50% (20% if you edit the configuration file directly). It looks pixelated as all fuck but runs very nice.

All in all, the only thing that doesn’t run as smoothly is the Earth Jungle tileset as it features a lot of intensive stuff but if you can manage to run it its actually pretty neat. There’s also Cetus on Earth but its mostly due to the connectivity aspect of the node. Hell, even the Plains of Eidolon run nicely, and look that its a huge memory eater (it takes me a solid 10 minutes to load into the plains but it runs nice)

Music: DUN-DUN DUN DUN-DUN

Well, there’s not much I can add here: the game’s soundtrack is pretty good and now having gone through the main events I’d say it hits me a lil more harder cuz [spoilers]

They also got their own version of the Terminator theme

UPGRADE YOUR MODS. If you do it as you go the difficulty curve won’t catch you off-guard like it did with me. You’ll thank me later when you get to enemies of levels 21 and beyond

Deactivate Reverb on the Audio settings of Warframe, it will drastically improve your performance.

Build weapons and see if you can change your old ones for newer ones. Let’s talk about stats: You know what they say, the more the merrier! some weapons are straight up upgrades from the stuff you might get first.

Along the last point: SEARCH WHICH WEAPONS CAN BE USED AS CRAFTING COMPONENTS. I still regret having sold my Lato, cuz I later found out I needed it for a Bolto. When I made my Kulstar, I didn’t repeat that mistake. Nowadays I can just simply buy out these but still when you don’t have enough resources yet, it can hit you

Along the last two points: Max out your weapons. More ranking for you means better weapons on the long run.

Don’t be afraid of putting potatos on your stuff, you are gonna do that anyways. Just make sure you do it on the things you are more comfortable with first

DONT FORMA YOUR STUFF YET. Better save it for the moment you can unlock Sorties. Because Forma resets your stuff’s rank and you are gonna need those capacity points to keep the stuff good, otherwise leveling it up again is a chore

Nightmare missions give out supplementary mods for your stuff. Rhino is still a very good friend, and so is Valkyr (except on energy drain mode, then you are screwed if you dont have a tankier frame or better weapons)

Use a Ducat/Platinum price list to see which Prime parts are worth selling for platinum or turning for Ducats. When Baro visits the relays and you have Ducats you’ll be a happy person cuz you can get nice shit from him that will help you by the endgame. If you get plat you will be  ahappy person becuase you can buy stuff you need or stuff for your leisure

Seek out for groups to do particular activities. Its always best when you are with a group that has people all loking for the same thing, like running fissures to get an especific Prime, maybe scan synthesis targets, and the like, so don’t be afraid of looking for them

Spy missions give you lots of Affinity at low levels: easy to do, quick to do, I usually run Suisei on Mercury when I want to level up stuff fast, but other (harder) mission nodes may work best too, just make sure you can reliably do them quick and without trouble. Personally speaking, Grineer spies are the easiest in comparison imho, but don’t do them on Grineer Sealab tilesets. Gabii on Ceres is a nice Survival Dark Sector to get both Affinity and Credits at the same time, I never run out of credits thanks to this node, though it feels like a chore after the 200th time or so

If you get a stealth frame, like Loki, or weapons able to stealth kill, make sure to take advantage of the stealth kills affinity boost: they can give you up to 500% affinity you earn and combined with high affinity gain missions its the best way to maximize your time

Try to have Warframes for specific tasks if you want to breeze it: I generally use Rhino for Hijack and Nightmare Missions (press 2, get a bit of damage, press 3, have a grand ol time), Limbo for weekly Ayatan treasure runs (and pretty much anything that requires me protecting stuff that isn’t Hijack, his entire skillset), Frost Prime for Defense and Assassination missions (press 3, sometimes 4), while Excalibur, Nyx, Mag, Valkyr and Mirage Prime are my all-rounders but excel at specific tasks: Excalibur and Nyx for the crowd control (press 4 and 3 respectively, though Excalibur is also a to-go when is not Mirage), Valkyr for survivals and nightmares in some parts (press 2, then 4, have yet to test on further nightmares), Mag for anything Corpus, and Mirage Prime for Interceptions and pretty much everything that isn’t Defense (press 1, then 3, have fun; not defense since she can do it but is just not as efficient as i’d like to for average tilesets)

I am actually on Pluto and pretty much completed the main storyline so far (i just need to take care of a few sidequests before the arrival of The Sacrifice), which is probably gonna be the last but its gonna take some time since situations out of my control have left me unable to play for some time. Still, my impressions haven’t changed: Warframe is a great game with neat ideas and stuff. Some work excellently, some not as good, but never the less is an outstanding free-to-play grame that I recommend at least trying, especially if you like games like Diablo 2.

The exciting finale of this review thing will be seen on Part 3: Reloaded with FEELS, Regor Roll and space jackoffs
