No one knows how a family of bastards managed to climb their way to the top, going as far as conquering their place into the Small Council of the Seven Kingdoms. The Rise of the Bastards, people call it.

⚔️ Vincent Waters is the bastard son of a Targaryen prince and a Braavosi woman. When he was born, his mother settled in King’s Landing. Although the Prince never married the woman, with her great beauty and charm she was able to convince him to provide for their son.

⚔️ In his young years, Vincent decided to travel to the Free Cities, and settled in Braavos, where, thanks to his brain and quick-learning abilities, he started working with the Iron Bank. During a stay in Lys, he met and fell in love Marya, a half-Braavosi, half-lyseni woman. When Vincent returns to King’s Landing, he takes her with him as a wife.

⚔️ His association with the Iron Bank is the key to his rise: the Crown is, surprise surprise, in large debt with the Iron Bank. And let’s remember Tywin’s words:

One stone crumbles and another takes its place and the temple holds its form for a thousand years or more. And that's what the Iron Bank is, a temple. We all live in its shadow and almost none of us know it. You can't run from them, you can't cheat them, you can't sway them with excuses. If you owe them money and you don't want to crumble yourself, you pay it back.

⚔️ For over two decades, Vincent has used the debt to “persuade” the Crown to have a special place at court. He eventually became Master of Coin. As long as he has that place, the Iron Bank won’t take action against them.

⚔️ But the rise doesn’t stop with Vincent.

⚔️ Petyr, his eldest son, is destined to become Lord Commander of the Kingsguard.

⚔️ His second son, Salladhor, is sent to the Wall, in an era when being part of the Night’s Watch is still an honour rather than a punishment.

⚔️ His third son, Victor, is still a squire.

⚔️ His youngest and only daughter, Adianna, is promised to Stephan Bolton, so that the Waters family’s influence will also reach the North. As for the Bolton family, the Waters’ place at court is an appealing prospect of growth.

A/N: finally got around to the family’s backstory! I made it as short and quick as possible. Also, I had to make their names less… Italian. I hope they work! (Yes Victor is Vittorio. At least in one universe, he’s alive).

It's another nightly celebration amongst the Na'vi, and the clan is gathered around various fires lit as family and friends tell each other stories and tales.

Neteyam was your secret boyfriend.

As the son of your infamous clan leader, he was expected to be perfect. Stay absolutely in line and make no mistakes. He had no time for distractions.

But for you, he made an exception.

And he couldn't be happier. Yes, stealing glances at you and sneaking away with your smiling face is worth it all. The thrill and happiness he feels with you will forever remain unmatched. It was like his heart was finally living. The dull thump inside now a lively drum that beats to the sound of your soul.

"Neteyam."

He pulls away from the kiss breathless, his braids tossed over his shoulder and a smile in his eyes as he looked at you. He loved it when you said his name like that—

"Hmm?"

He doesn't give you a chance to even try and respond, because he's pressing his lips all over your mouth and face as you squirm and squeal under him

"Neteyam—!"

He laughs, gently tugging you onto the green ground beneath him as you huff. He kisses your pouting lips before positioning you on his legs so you're comfortable.

"Yes. What is wrong?"

He's smiling softly even as his finger taps mindlessly against your hip, and you let out a quiet sigh—not wanting to speak the words but knowing you had to.

"It's getting late. Your family will notice you're gone." You scold lightly, gently tracing the stripes on his chest idly as he shifts under you with a rare grin that stretched over the entirety of his face

"So? They're all fine, I am not needed right now. I will explain later—"

"What? That you were busy with me?" You say, pinching your brows with a sigh as he laughs. You didn't want Neteyam to get in trouble, but he could be so stubborn sometimes.

He's quiet after a bit, and you realize he's in deep thought when he stares off into the trees, tilting his head up towards the darkening sky before he turns to you

"I... I'd just like to stay here with you for a while longer. Is that okay?"

Your heart melts at the sight of his hopeful smile.

"And you think I want to leave you?" You murmur against his lips as he grins, cradling the back of your head in the palm of his hand as he presses a soft kiss onto your forehead

"No."

You're leaning back onto his chest after a while, watching the sun's rays twinkle out of sight as the stars rise—the night comes slowly but surely, and there isn't a single other soul in the world Neteyam would watch the moon with rather than you.

Adianna ‘Nina’ Waters

Obscure circumstances surround Adianna Waters’s tragic disappearance. Since she stole her brother’s sword and fled into the night, all trace of her has been lost. After moons of incessant search, the family eventually lost all hope. At first, they believed she had been taken for ransom during her flight, or kidnapped by someone who wanted to put an end to the Waters’ rise. But no demand for ransom ever came, no one ever tried to make contact. So they had to accept the hard truth: their Adianna is dead, her body probably resting in a shallow grave.

Until, six years later, the lost daughter makes her return to King’s Landing. Except she’s not Adianna anymore, she’s Nina now. And she has a dragon.

And so her unexpected return risks to wreak havoc on the Seven Kingdoms. Because if a bastard can claim a dragon, the foundations upon which the Targaryens’ power has been built threaten to collapse.

i found dqbros popular “adopted” relationship headcanon funny coz basically doffy was a mommy’s boy (tsuru) and a girldad (baby5) while cora was a daddy’s boy (sengoku) and a boydad (law)

still correlates with the dq fam modern au, sengoku and tsuru weren’t their adopted parents here tho, idk i haven’t thought about doffy and cora’s past lore on this au that deep
