Dr Harold Gilles, known for pioneering plastic surgery during and after wwi by coming up with new techniques and operations that he performed to help facially disfigured soldiers feel better about themselves and their wounds, also performed gender affirming surgeries

One time I was telling my friend about my favourite songs from the ‘10s and how they just don’t make music like they used to, she agreed. Anyway turns out we were talking about different ‘10s, but I personally was listening to my favourite historical bop of all time: Come Josephine In My Flying Machine by Billy Murray and Ada Jones, yes I listened to it on repeat too many times, yes I based an entire series of short historical queer romance stories on this song, no I don’t even know if I’m answering this question properly. next one let’s gooo

He’s special TO ME as a trans man and as a nerd when it comes to tuberculosis and the Wild West, but Dr. Alan L Hart was a pioneer in x-Ray technology for TB screening and a trans man in the early 1900s :)

I feel like I can’t engage with my special interests. Not because I’m not allowed to or I don’t have access to them, but because like… I get so excited and emotional about them. But I have no outward way to expel that emotion, so it all gets trapped inside.

It’s like how bottling up anger is bad. Even though these are positive emotions, I still bottle them up because I have no social or creative outlet.

So whenever I want to engage in my special interests, I don’t. Because I’m scared I’ll get too emotional and then it will be all consuming and I won’t be able to function.

I just wanna be able to watch shows and listen to music and read books about what I love without feeling paralyzed.
