One of the drawbacks of fitness trackers and other wearable devices is that their batteries eventually run out of juice. But what if in the future, wearable technology could use body heat to power itself? UW researchers have developed a flexible, durable electronic prototype that can harvest energy from body heat and turn it into electricity that can be used to power small electronics, such as batteries, sensors or LEDs. This device is also resilient -- it still functions even after being pierced several times and then stretched 2,000 times. The team detailed these prototypes in a paper published Aug. 30 in Advanced Materials. "I had this vision a long time ago," said senior author Mohammad Malakooti, UW assistant professor of mechanical engineering. "When you put this device on your skin, it uses your body heat to directly power an LED. As soon as you put the device on, the LED lights up. This wasn't possible before."

[Thoughts] This was one of my favorite albums back in the day and I don't see people talking about these guys anymore. Later releases are concept albums: Oathbreaker (2014, about Darth Vader) and Astral Necromancy (2018).**** This album has a high energy and I find myself returning to it often. I always thought it was cool that the logo is a TIE Fighter.

**** TL;DR Oathbreaker was everyone's favorite, and you know what? A concept album about Darth Vader hit different in 2014 before Mickey Mouse curb-stomped the franchise. Also Astral Necromancy is rumored to be about Darth Plagueis the Wise.

[From the band/label]

Infinite Darkness is the second demo by Hoth. This album iterates on ideas from the first untitled demo and expands them out into 10 songs that deliver harrowing tales of the most fearsome and brutal creatures and events of a galaxy far, far away. Inspired by the most remarkable sci-fi trilogy of all time, this album attempts to grant all those horrific creatures appropriate homage.

While the recording quality of Infinite Darkness is inferior to later releases, it stands as an important building block in Hoth's musical journey. The foundation of Hoth's later signature sound can be heard here and there.
