i finally finished watching hey melissa and got a little inspired by it. so i may have written a fun little 3000-word paul-centric piece for it here on ao3 based on my bad things happen bingo card. 'dehumanization' was too good a prompt to pass up >:]

new fave headcanon: the Batfamily all have devices hidden in their armor's chest insignia (Bat or Robin symbol) such as tasers, batarangs, etc, but the problem is every set of armor is unique so you might slap Red Robin's chest for an extra grapple line and accidentally electrocute yourself on Red Hood's armor doing the same thing later that night. this has led to a (justified) fear among non-Batfamily members who (rightfully) now leave any and all armor alone unless they're absolutely out of options.

(extra hilarious if there's one Bat who just...doesn't have anything concealed in their chest panel and is SUPREMELY offended you just slapped their chest looking for something to use to escape)

Playing GK, and I'm doing a "collectibles" run through Gotham tonight and went hunting for the street art in the West End.

(Sorry for the potato quality; I had to lighten the camera to make it visible in screenshots. Also, image IDs are in alt.)

I was surprised when the descriptor "Born This Way" popped up when I added it to my collection, along with a description of the piece being commissioned for Gotham Pride.

"Aw, that's nice." I thought. A nice little bit of world-building that ties in nicely with Tim coming out as bi and Dick offering to go to Pride with him.

So, anyway, art collected, I hopped back on my bike, took off down the street, and then reversed at full speed because I realized I'd just driven over a rainbow crosswalk.

"Aw, cool! That's a nice little touch. Wait a minute... is that an Irish gay bar?"

"It is! It's a gay Irish bar! Huh... I wonder what else is around here."

So I get off the bike, turn a corner, and start counting the rainbow Pride flags hanging over fire escapes and windows.

"Wait... does Gotham have a Gay Village?"

"Holy shit, they gave Gotham a Gay Village!"

"Wait, what does that sign say under the Pride flag... "The Quiet Escape Bookstore"... GAY BOOKSTORE GAY BOOKSTORE GAY BOOKSTORE GAY BOOKSTORE!!!"

So anyway, yeah. I have 154 hours in this game and only just now found Gotham's LGBT district.

so, the attic scene, in which we all agreed charles was vaguely flirting with that "it's stupid, but i think i'd miss kissing. do you miss kissing?" line.

wait until you find out what he says in the official netflix polish version, because this is insane

charles says "it's stupid but... i miss kissing."

just walk this out with me. they've changed the "would" from a transition form of the modal verb "will" and said it in present tense. the most present there is. he's not thinking about being a ghost and not having senses. he says i miss kissing, right now to edwin, looking at him shyly and smiling.

do not even get me started on the profound meaning of the word "brakuje mi [czegoś]", which etymologically could be translated to "i lack [something.]" it's missing something with a slight emphasis on the emptiness that creates itself in you, not the longing. personally i'd say it's more urgent than, for example, "tęsknić" [to miss something in the wistful sense].

but that's not all, no sire, because polish subtitles charles, the bi-king of all come ons who's really trying to score here, adds unashamedly, "and do you?"

(in context: and do you miss kissing right now?)

mic drop. edwin pursing his lips awkwardly looks like he's just turning him down. for now.

anyways! there are more scenes like this and you're so not ready for the confession scene which is going to properly blow your mind, but that's for later, i need to lay down.

Can cut through stone, and most of Batman's gear. It's been heavily debated what kind of knife it is; wether a kris, a parrying dagger, or a third secret thing.

I'm not sure what kind of blade they are, they vaguely look like wakizashis? Their size varies from panel to panel so idk😔

3— The katana for the 'duel' with Oliver!

Yes, it's a katana that explodes. Jason baits Oliver into holding it.

Explosives

— First of all, he blows up many many things and it's not specified what exactly he uses. So the unspecified explosives that only appear as a cool fireball panel get a bullet point.

5— The jumble of explosives in the Final Confrontation™️, we can see some dynamite, C4...

I kinda think that it makes more sense if Jason’s exploding helmet was a one time trick and he’s not actually running around getting shot at with an bomb on his head but at the same time I can’t say it’s out of character for his version of a last resort weapon/cyanide pill to be an exploding helmet

I think I may have just taken one of my favorite screenshots in Gotham Knights.
