Riverclan: Mates

When cats become mates in Riverclan it is celebrated and made into a ceremony. The mates are given gifts of pretty shells and rocks to add to their newly shared nest, and the pair, or more, carefully weave necklaces together to represent their love. The Pod Mother is expected to call a meeting to officiate the connection with a speech, ending with the mates saying the phrase “Mirra welcome us together”.

Becoming mates with someone in Riverclan is a big big deal. It’s you proclaiming that you would love this cat through sickness, health, mistakes, triumphs and death itself. It’s a declaration of loyalty to love above all else and Riverclan sees this as a beautiful thing. When it’s not causing problems of course. Because of this belief that marriage is a sign of true loyalty, if a cat requests to stop being mates with their partner, the whole clan would shame and shun the cat, especially if the mate does not want to separate as well.

Arranged mateships do not happen in Riverclan, they simply do not believe it is right, and refuse to take part in the mere suggestion of mates who do not truly love each other. To Riverclan, gender does not matter, love is love and they will support it within their clan.

going crazy and thinking about starclan cults....

so starclan in my lore is a little bit insane. theyre a bunch of evil greedy freaks who crave power and control, they manipulate the clans into believing they are good and punish them severely if they are not followed without question. and when i was first writing this part of the lore i was thinking, like, where can i go with this? so obviously i went with cults. and some real- world theming that gets pretty gnarly but i think ill save the purity culture talk for another post.

GOESHSHH.... the starclan cults... tawnytuft and loons followers, omen and the puritans.. PHEW! tawnytuft was praised heavily by starclan for taking the lives of any nonbelievers and indocrinating as many cats as possible, her cult was MASSIVE- she managed to get a flower child, lavenderspring, into her cult!!! and then the war against starclan from howlitebite, azalearush, and orchidspring!!! tawny and loon went DOWN.. how to organize thoughts..

so tawnytuft and loon were the first. a good five or ten years before omen and her parents, slatecrackle and bearshade. tawnytuft was the leader, loon was like.. a glorified bodyguard. tawnytuft was an adept fighter, but she made loon do all her dirty work so that she could manipulate and indoctrinate with less blood on her paws.. although she often delivered killing blows. tawnytuft and loon were a pair of crazy mates who met when tawnytuft fled her birth clan to fulfill her delusions, and loon formed an unhealthy attachment to her that tawnytuft exploited heavily. the two had a kit together, thistle, but abandoned them because the pair believed that thistle would come to destroy them one day.. and in a way, thistle did! thats for another post. tawnytuft and loon ravaged the forest for a solid twenty or thirty moons, killing DOZENS of cats and indoctrinating dozens more into their cult. by the time of the war against the stars, a battle primarily between riverclan and tawny + co, she had enough to ALMOST OVERWHELM A CLAN OF 30+ CATS... she was something else. unfortunately loon was one of the MANY deaths on tawny's end of that battle, and tawny was forced to flee. her cult failed to rebuild and tawny died due to infected wounds not long after, which ended her reign and then paved the way for the puritans ten years later...

may save the puritans for another post. i feel a bit too excited to continue yapping lol but thinking of drawing the flower children, tawny, and loon soon. i also need to eventually write about the flower children.

I enjoy that in ffxiv that Primals aren't really a threat anymore almost solely due to the Warrior of Light. Like there aren't any in Tural or were introduced in Dawntrail, (partially for lore reasons if I remember right, something about less aether than Eorzea) and they're kinda replaced by Vidraal.

Like yeah, it's died out since the Grand Company of Eorzea is working to improve relations with the Allied Tribes and the Ascians are mostly dead, but like, most people know by now that if you summon a Primal then the WoL's gonna hunt them down. Like they still do get summoned, and the Summoner corps of Ul'dah and people like Fordola and other Scions take care of some of the weaker ones, but it can't be on a grand scale otherwise it'd bring down the WoL on top of them an no one wants that.

We are literally the natural predator to them by now.

Ifrit, Titan, Garuda, Leviathan, Ramuh, Odin, Shiva, Belias (From the Summoner questline), Phoenix, Bahamut, GOOD KING MOGGLE MOG XII, Enkidu, Ravana, Bismarck, Knights of the Round, Alexander, The Warring Triad, Susano, Lakshmi, Shinryu, Tsukiyomi, The Eden Primals, Elidibus' Warrior of Light, The Lunar Primals, Queen Gunnhildr, Daivadipa, The Magus Sisters, Anima, Asura (From Hildebrand questline), Hydaelyn, and Zodiark.

That's like three dozen, and what's more is that most of them we canonically solo'd and slayed multiple times. Plus we can even summon them ourselves too, and even fuse them together like with Solar Bahamut.

We are the Maker's Ruin after all, making a World Without Gods.

Thunderclan: Formation

Thunderclan was created by the Legendary Lions Thunder, one of the destined Five. Born to Star along with his siblings Solar Sky and Jay’s River, he was the most powerful and chivalrous of the three. He helped teach his nieces in morality and strength when they were old enough, and brought in many cats to their group through fiery speeches and promises.

After the death of both his father and his mate, Lions Thunder followed his brothers when they decided to leave their territory, searching for a new life away from the grief and hardship of their previous home. More cats joined their travelling group, and they all split once they came across the land that would become their new home. 

Lions Thunder took over part of the forest closer to the marsh, leaving the rest of the pines to Solar Sky’s group. During this time, Lions Thunder took in a cat named Bumble, who knew every language on this side of the mountains, a key cat for communications between the group and those not in it, including those who wanted to join.

However, when Solar Sky began pushing against his territory, Lions Thunder was quick to panickedly attempt to take Jays River’s territory in return, causing fighting among all the groups. During the First full moon after the fighting began, the past family members agreed to meet together at the five trees in the middle of the territory to negotiate. 

The truce did not last long, and every cat threw themselves at each other. It was a pointless slaughter, and it was only when Star’s spirit and the spirits of the fallen in battle begged for the fighting to stop did they listen. Eight lives were gifted to those leaders who were worthy, and those who were not were cast aside as the dead were buried.

Lions Thunder, now a Star, led his clan the best he could with his new lives, appointing two cats to lead in his stead if he could no longer. Leading them through a crisis of faith and attacks from twolegs, dogs and others, he appointed new ranks to serve proud in their chosen role, starting the creation of the system Thunderclan knows today. He died as he lived, leading his cats to the very end as Thunderclan’s first Leader.

Izumi of Jang Hui died young. She was sixteen and unwed. A kind child, protective and lonely—thus unfit for this world.

Izumi of Jang Hui was murdered. The Painted Lady was born out of hatred and grief. Her skin is painted red with the patterns of her scars. Her home is the river where the Dark Water Spirit dwells—he who found her, drowned and beautiful.

Build shrines by the river and pray for her good will. Harm her land or people and pray for mercy.

Also, to say that I love your characters. The first time I found them I saw one picture of their feral art and I saw Machete and instantly thought "like my dogs!" because I am a volunteer at a dog shelter where we have a lot of spanish greyhounds (which aren’t exactly like him but a bit similar).
