DxP REWRITE - Master Post

“Diamond x Pearl REWRITE” is both a “rewrite” of BDSP & a second story in the Hisui region of old involving my & my husband’s trainers, Ansy & Ikrit, along with their ancestors Mizumi & Sasmu, as they travel along with a pair of familiar monochromatic train twins.

The title “REWRITE” also refers to how in both Diamond & Pearl as well as Legends Arceus someone wanted to “rewrite” the world, & how this story reimagines modern Sinnoh if it included more from Legends Arceus (among other things, hehe).

Legends Arceus is my favorite Pokémon game ever, I think 🥹🩷 it means so much to me, it holds a special place in my heart. To celebrate the third year anniversary, I wanted to draw my favorite warden, Palina, and my favorite location in game 💕

Even if Arceus wipes her memory I think Akari trusted Volo (and others) because in her subconscious she remembered Cynthia in the same way that Ingo remembered Emmett

I love the implied relationship between Irida and Ingo.

There aren’t a lot of scenes where they interact (in fact, this scene where Irida formally introduces Ingo to you might be the only one), but the crumbs we get paint a very heartwarming picture.

You can tell from Irida’s expression when she’s talking about Ingo’s memory loss that she’s concerned for him. This isn’t like the phony concern Volo shows Ingo in the quarry; Irida’s compassion is genuine. What’s more, Irida is the first character to express the hope that working with you may restore Ingo’s memory, even before Ingo expresses that hope himself.

Also keep in mind that, as the leader of the Pearl Clan, Irida would presumably have the final say in who gets to be a warden. We don’t know anything about what the selection process for wardens is like, but it’s hard to imagine that Ingo would be chosen against Irida’s wishes. When you factor in the tendency toward xenophobia that all the factions in this game have, you have to imagine there was some pushback against naming Ingo as a warden or even taking him in in the first place. And yet, for all that, Irida clearly respects Ingo (since he refers to him as “this gentleman” when introducing him to you), and never treats him as an outsider.

The difference between how the Pearl Clan treats Ingo and how the Galaxy Team treats you is especially evident when you’re exiled from Jubilife. Both Irida and Adaman advocate for you, but Irida’s language toward Kamado during these scenes is harsher than Adaman’s.

Her more overt anger toward Kamado may be merely due to a personality difference, but it seems to me that she has more of a reason to take your exile personally than Adaman. With Kamado, she sees another leader who’s been put into the same position that she was—having to choose whether to embrace or reject an odd stranger. And in her eyes, he’s choosing wrong.

All of this paints a very admirable picture of Irida. She cares passionately about what she sees as right, she advocates for people who are in crisis, and she’s willing to move past her own biases (such as her disdain for Pokéballs) and embrace people who do things differently if they can demonstrate that their methods work.

Throughout the game, Irida has some insecurity about her position due to her young age, but I don’t think Ingo or the Pearl Clan could be in better hands.

Au where Arceus tries to fix things by fucking things up more. It knows It has to send Ingo to Hisui for Its whole plan to work, but It doesn't want to separate Ingo from his home and family. So split him in two! That'll be fine!

So basically, Ingo in Hisui is as we know him in the game. Only knows his name and about pokemon and battling. But Ingo in Unova can't have the same knowledge, especially if Arceus plans to eventually fuse them back together. So he remembers basically everything other than his own name and stuff about pokemon and battling. Obviously, when Emmet realizes this, he gets his brother to a hospital for testing to see what's wrong, and a lot of their time is spent just trying to reteach Ingo about himself and pokemon. And lots of brain scans and medical staff psychic pokemon trying to figure out what's wrong.

Legends Arceus/Sinnoh doodles I've been forgetting to put here

Did some drawings of PLA characters wearing the beanies. It took me a minute in game to realize that they are supposed to look like the face of Palkia and Diagla when I first played the game (which makes total sense). Melli's hat in particular is interesting because he (or someone else) has embroidered a chrysanthemum on it which symbolizes royalty, longevity, and rejuvenation in Japan. It is also a symbol of the imperial family. So I really wonder why they chose that to symbolize Melli. Was it just his personality or did he actually come from some sort of royal line. Who knows. I excluded the chrysanthemum in this drawing to bring attention to the design of the hat itself.
