Soap’s eyebrows lifted with a curious glint in his eye as he looked from you to Adira, a playful grin edging onto his face. He leaned in, never one to miss a chance at a bit of friendly prodding.
“So… you’re married?” he asked, his tone as light as his smirk.
You laughed, the sound warm and genuine. “Haha! No, I’m not.” You gave Adira’s tiny hand a gentle squeeze, glancing down at her with a smile that softened every edge on your face.
Soap tilted his head, pretending to be shocked. “A bonnie lass like yerself? Unmarried?” he teased, hand on his chest as though it were a crime.
“Guess I’m a rare breed,” you replied with a grin, chuckling as you shifted Adira’s hand in yours.
Soap’s face lit up at your response, as if he’d just been given the most interesting bit of news he’d heard all week. He shot Ghost a quick look, but Ghost was still watching Adira, his gaze softened with something unreadable.
Meanwhile, Gaz wasn't fascinated by Soap's ability to make anyone at ease, the man was a cassanova. Roach watched Adira with curiosity, as though piecing together a puzzle he hadn’t realized existed until now. Price stood off to the side, arms crossed, silently observing the whole scene.
“If you aren’t married, how’d you get this little one?” Soap pushed, grinning as he wiggled a playful finger in Adira’s direction.
Adira’s gaze snapped up from Ghost to the man with the funny hair, her little brow furrowing as she studied Soap with a mix of curiosity and caution. She leaned into your leg, clearly wary, but her attention stayed on the finger waving in front of her.
You chuckled, brushing a hand over Adira’s head to reassure her. “Long story,” you replied, smiling. “Let’s just say she was an unexpected blessing.”
Soap laughed softly, glancing at Ghost with a gleam in his eye. “Ah, aye, life’s full of surprises, eh?”
Ghost, who had been studying Adira in silence, clenched his jaw, shifting uncomfortably as Soap’s words hit a little too close to home.
“I used to be really wild back in the day,” you admitted with a sheepish grin, a hint of nostalgia coloring your tone as you thought back to those not-so-distant years.
Soap wasn’t quite done yet, though. “Does the father know?” he threw a quick glance at Ghost, who had just risen from his crouched position. A new tension ran through Ghost’s frame, his stance rigid, as if the question had struck something he’d rather not confront.
You hesitated, a shadow crossing your expression before you shook your head. “No, he doesn’t… He, uh, probably has no idea.”
Ghost’s jaw tightened, his gaze flickering from you to Adira, who was absorbed in her drink, unaware of the intensity surrounding her. His shoulders stiffened, and for a split second, he looked as though he wanted to speak—but whatever words he had caught in his throat, locked behind his silence.
"I see, well. I'm sorry if I took up your time, ma’am, you've been a nice chat," Soap said, his voice softening with a touch of politeness, his grin still present but more reserved now.
You nodded, giving Adira’s hand a gentle tug as you continued on your way, the soft crunch of snow beneath your boots the only sound accompanying your steps. The blue sky stretched above, peaceful, serene. As you walked, Adira turned her head, glancing back at Ghost one final time. She refused to let go of her cup, her small fingers gripping it tightly, but she lifted her other hand in a small, hesitant wave. "Bye-bye," she whispered, her voice soft but sweet.
Ghost’s gaze lingered, but he didn’t move. His expression was unreadable, a mixture of things churning behind those eyes.
Price let out a heavy sigh, crossing his arms and facing Ghost. “So... what’s the plan?” he asked, his tone both blunt and expectant, clearly waiting for some kind of direction. The rest of the team stood in silence, watching the exchange unfold.
Ghost didn’t answer immediately. His gaze remained on you and Adira, watching you both disappear further down the street, the distance growing with each step. The soft crunch of snow under your boots was the only sound in the quiet winter air. He didn’t even notice Price's voice until the man spoke again, closer now, with a slight edge to his tone.
"Ghost, talk to me. What’s the plan here?”
Finally, Ghost shifted, his shoulders tense, his jaw clenched as he turned to face Price. There was a flicker of something in his eyes—something caught between anger, confusion, and a deep, gnawing regret.
"I don't know," he muttered, the words barely escaping his lips. "I wasn't expecting this. Hell, I didn't even know she existed." His voice was low, strained, but there was a quiet honesty to it, as if he was trying to process something that didn’t make sense.
Soap stepped closer, his expression serious for once. "What now, Ghost? We can help. But you need to tell us what's going on."
Ghost finally looked away, his attention drawn to the ground, his fingers twitching like he was trying to find something to hold onto. "I don't even know where to start," he admitted. "All I know is... I saw her. And it hit me like a fucking truck."
Roach, always one to stay in the background, spoke up. “Maybe it’s time to talk to her, yeah? Figure out where to go from here?”
Price’s eyes narrowed, his stern gaze shifting to Ghost, assessing him. “And what exactly do you want from us? You’re in this, whether you like it or not.”
Ghost let out a frustrated breath. “I don’t know,” he repeated, voice hoarse. “But I can’t just let her slip away.”
A silence stretched between them, heavy and thick, as the weight of the situation settled in. Then, slowly, Ghost nodded. “I’ll figure it out. Just… not now. Not here.” His eyes flicked toward the street where you had disappeared, and something in his gaze softened, just for a moment, before the mask fell back into place.
Price gave a single nod. "Alright. But we stick together on this. You’re not doing it alone, Ghost."
The team stood together for a moment longer, the wind howling through the alley, before they slowly began to move, their steps trailing off into the winter evening. The silence that hung between them was thick with uncertainty. No one knew what came next, but they knew one thing for sure: whatever happened, they were in this together.
A month passed, the team giving Ghost the space he needed to process the whirlwind that had hit him. They all knew this was something he had to handle on his own terms, but that didn't mean the questions didn't linger. What did it mean for the future? What did he want? The answers were still unclear, even to Ghost himself.
But Soap, ever the persistent one, wasn’t content to let things sit in limbo. He knew Ghost, knew how his mind worked, and that sometimes the best way to breakthrough was to take small steps. And if that meant subtly nudging you into the picture, then so be it. He’d always been good at this—at slipping in the background, making things happen without anyone noticing.
So, Soap started to "accidentally" run nto you. At the park, when you were out with Adira, he'd make sure to be in the same place at the same time, offering a casual greeting. It always started simple, harmless, with a nod or a small comment about the weather. Then, of course, there was that coffee shop where you'd gone to get hot chocolate for Adira.
The first time he "bumped" into you there, it was nothing more than a quick exchange. A question about the drink, a comment on the cold weather, just the usual small talk. But Johnny's natural charm and ease made you relax, and made the conversation flow without much effort. Over time, those small moments grew. You'd smile when you'd see him, and he'd greet you with the same friendly energy, always leaving you feeling at ease. No pressure, just casual.
And slowly, ever so slowly, Johnny began to warm you up to the idea of him. It wasn't much at first—a smile here, a shared laugh there—but he knew what he was doing. He wasn't pushing, just letting the connection build at its own pace. The more you saw him, the more comfortable you felt. The more you talked, the more you found yourself enjoying the interactions, even if they were brief.
One evening, Johnny sat beside you on the park bench, casually leaning back as Adira bounced around in the snow, her laughter filling the crisp air. The sound was contagious, and for a moment, you let yourself relax, watching her with a soft smile.
"So, me and a couple friends are meeting up at Leslie's this weekend," Johnny said, his tone light but with a hint of something more. "Would you be interested?"
You snorted, expecting the usual joke or teasing, but when you glanced over at him, his expression was far more serious than you anticipated. For a moment, you considered dismissing it. After all, Leslie's? A pub? That was a far cry from the cozy routine you’d built for yourself with Adira.
“Seriously?” you asked, raising an eyebrow. "I don't think I fit the scene."
Johnny shrugged nonchalantly, the corner of his mouth lifting in that playful grin of his. “Please. It'll just be like old times.”
Your mind immediately wandered, trying to understand what he meant by that. What was it about old times that Johnny thought might appeal to you? You didn’t exactly have a wild past to cling to. Sure, you’d had your moments, but those felt long behind you now.
Still, something about the invitation lingered. A night out... maybe it wouldn’t be so bad. You hadn’t done anything for you in a while. And maybe, just maybe, it would be nice to let someone else take care of the night for once. No worrying about Adira, no responsibilities for a few hours. Just some fun, whatever that meant now.
You hesitated, looking down at Adira as she made another snow angel, oblivious to the conversation happening nearby. She’d be fine, right? And you could leave if things felt uncomfortable.
“Alright,” you finally said, meeting Johnny’s gaze with a reluctant but genuine smile. "I'll join you. But only if it’s not as crazy as you’re making it sound."
Johnny’s grin widened, and you could tell he was already mentally planning the evening, no doubt with some plan to ease you in without overwhelming you. He stood up, dusting off the snow on his pants as he glanced back at you.
“Deal. I’ll make sure it’s a night to remember.”
You just hoped he wasn’t overselling it.
The weekend seemed to arrive so fast, and here you were, standing outside your apartment, nervously adjusting your blue blouse and jeans. It wasn’t exactly the type of outfit you thought would fit a night out, but it was the best you could do. Most of your wardrobe these days consisted of comfortable clothes, ones that could be easily changed or wiped clean in case Adira had another of her toddler mishaps. Sexy or flirty clothes were a distant memory, tucked away in a drawer somewhere, gathering dust.
Adira stood in the doorway, clutching her little stuffed bear to her chest, eyes wide and brimming with unshed tears. The sight hit you harder than you expected. You knelt down in front of her, your heart sinking at the sight of her teary eyes. “I’ll be back in a couple hours, I promise,” you said, your voice gentle but firm, reaching out to her with a reassuring smile.
Adira sniffled, her tiny hand coming up to rub her eyes, but she didn’t break her stare. You held out your pinky, the gesture as familiar as breathing. Slowly, she reached out, her small finger wrapping around yours with the same trust she always had. The connection was brief, but it felt like a promise, one that you hoped would calm her.
"I won't be out long," you said softly to the friend you’d left with her. "And you, be good for Auntie too." The last part was directed at Adira, though the words felt bittersweet on your tongue.
Adira nodded, but her face still held that sadness, that uncertainty of what the night would bring without you.
Standing up, you ruffled her hair and offered a small, hopeful smile. “I’ll be back before you know it. Just a little fun for Mama, okay?”
Her small nod didn’t do much to ease the tightness in your chest, but you turned and gave her one last look before stepping outside. The cool evening air wrapped around you, a contrast to the warmth of the apartment behind you, but you pushed the feeling away. Tonight was for you, however strange that sounded.
As you locked the door behind you, you felt a flutter of nerves in your stomach. This wasn’t just any night out. It was a night with Johnny, with his friends, with the possibility of reconnecting to parts of yourself you’d set aside for so long.
As you arrived outside the establishment, the familiar hum of chatter and music filled the night air, but what caught your attention first was Johnny standing outside, leaning against the brick wall, checking his watch. The moment his eyes met yours, they lit up, his expression shifting from casual to something almost... eager.
“Well, well, look at you,” he said with that trademark wink of his, his gaze raking over you with a genuine appreciation that made you feel suddenly self-conscious. “You clean up well.”
You rolled your eyes but couldn’t suppress the small smile tugging at your lips. It was hard to resist the easy charm of Johnny.
“Let’s just hope I survive this night,” you muttered, though the words were more for yourself than him. You weren’t sure what to expect tonight, but you couldn’t shake the feeling that things might not go as smoothly as Johnny seemed to think.
Johnny chuckled, the sound warm and reassuring. “I’m sure you will. Now, let’s get going before I change my mind.”
With that, you fell into step beside him, the weight of your hand at your side suddenly feeling strange in the cool night air. He led you toward the door, and as you entered the dimly lit space of the bar, your eyes scanned the room.
It was bustling, a mix of regulars and newcomers, all seeking solace or company for the night. It smelled of beer, whiskey, and the faintest hint of fried food, a familiar and welcoming kind of atmosphere. But as soon as you stepped inside, your nerves shot back up again. You tried not to let the nerves show, but they were there, itching under your skin.
What you didn’t notice, as you made your way to the bar, was the group inside. Ghost, Price, Gaz, Roach—quietly observing, waiting for their chance to either speak to you or simply let you slip through their fingers once more. Ghost’s eyes tracked you the moment you stepped inside, and there was a hesitation in his gaze, something raw and almost pained that flickered in and out.
For a moment, Ghost didn’t move, didn’t speak. He simply watched you, aware that the moment he’d been dreading—he had finally stumbled into. Your gaze met his across the room, the flicker of recognition passing between you both. But that was it. You didn’t remember. You didn’t know him. You didn’t know what he was to you.
Approaching the bar, you saw that Johnny was already leaning in, chatting with the bartender, exchanging friendly banter. You barely heard the words, only caught up in the feeling that something was different. Something you couldn’t quite place. You glanced back at the table where those men sat. They weren’t talking, but their eyes were all trained on you, as if waiting for something to happen.
Your heart raced without explanation. Ghost’s eyes—those eyes—stayed locked on you. He didn’t know how to approach, how to change what had already seemingly been set in stone. What was he supposed to say? What was the plan now that you were here, so close? God, why the fuck did johnny do this.
Johnny leaned toward you again, a soft smile curling his lips. “You good, love?” he asked, his voice pulling you back to the present.
“Yeah,” you muttered, your voice barely above a whisper. You forced a smile, trying to ignore the uneasy tension brewing in your chest. “Just... getting used to being out.”
Johnny winked again, oblivious to the chaos of emotions swirling within you. “It’s all good. Let’s have some fun tonight, yeah?”
Ghost’s fist clenched involuntarily under the table. He wasn’t sure how much longer he could keep this distance, this silent acknowledgment of his role, or how long he could ignore what it meant to see you here now.
“You’ll fit right in,” Johnny said, though there was a hint of something deeper behind his words. “Just a bunch of mates enjoying a drink, nothing crazy.” Johnny leads you over to the table, you expected to be met with… well you didn't quite know what.
Price leaned back in his seat, cigar in hand, a soft smile on his weathered face as he regarded you with a raised brow. “Didn’t think you’d actually show up.”
"Neither did I," you muttered under your breath, forcing a smile and doing your best to ignore the gnawing feeling that lingered when you looked at him. You hadn’t quite expected this part of the evening.
“I’m just here for a drink, nothing more,” you said, looking over at Johnny was getting comfortable in his chair.
“Well, pull up a seat, love,” Price said, motioning to the empty spot next to him. “We’re all friends here.”
You hesitated but made your way over, perching yourself on the seat next to him. The sound of the glass being slid toward you, the clink of ice against glass, broke through the chatter around you. Your nerves buzzed as you focused on the drink in front of you, trying to ignore the sudden realization of just how different this was from the quiet, routine life you had at home with Adira.
“Enjoy yourself,” Price said with an air of casual amusement, leaning back in his chair. “This is all new for you, isn’t it?”
You raised an eyebrow, not wanting to admit just how out of place you felt in the moment. Instead, you took a sip of your drink, the burn of whiskey warming you from the inside out.
You laugh lightly, a bit awkwardly, trying to shake off the nerves that gnawed at you. "Yeah, this all a bit... newish. I haven't been out like this in years honestly," you admit, taking a deep breath and glancing around the bar. The warmth of the space was a welcome contrast to the chill outside, but the sight of the men made you feel more like a fish out of water than ever.
Johnny claps you on the back with an easy grin, clearly trying to make you feel more comfortable. “These are my mates. Price, Kyle, Gary, and Simon," he introduces with a flourish, motioning to each man in turn.
You give them all a polite smile, not quite sure what to make of them just yet. There was something about the way they carried themselves, all standing a little apart from the crowd, that made it clear they were more than just regulars at the pub. But you didn’t have time to focus too much on that right now. You were trying to just survive the night.
Price, who looked a bit older than the rest, nods at you, his gaze thoughtful, almost cautious. “Nice to meet you,” he says in a tone that is polite but distant, as though he’s waiting for something, some sign.
Kyle, as Johnny had called him—gives you a friendly nod, a playful glint in his eyes, but there's a strange sharpness to his look that you can’t quite place. “Pleasure," he says, offering you a tight smile.
Gary simply gives you a quick but sincere nod. His eyes linger on you just long enough for you to catch a flicker of interest before he looks away.
And then there’s Simon. His presence, as always, is quieter, more intense. He’s sitting in the middle, arms crossed, his gaze fixed directly on you. You can feel the weight of it, though. It’s impossible not to. There was something you couldn't place with him though you couldn’t see too well under the dim light.
You try to shake off the unease creeping up your spine. “Nice to meet you all," you reply, your voice warmer than you feel.
Johnny, oblivious to the awkwardness in the air, slaps the bar and gives a nod. “Alright, drinks all around, yeah? Let’s get this party started!” he declares, pulling the group into the rhythm of the night.
As the revelry began your stomach churns slightly, a sense of unease still lingering despite the distraction. You knew something was off, something you couldn’t quite put into words. It wasn’t just the men—it was the way Simon’s gaze lingered on you, the way he looked at you as if he were waiting for something. It unsettled you, but you couldn’t figure out why.
Johnny, seemingly oblivious to your tension, slides a drink toward you. “First round’s on me," he grins, the clink of glass against the table snapping you back to the present. "Here’s to a good night.”.
You took a deep breath, swallowing down the nerves that still clung to you. This was supposed to be a night out, after all. A chance to shake off the past, to let loose just a little. You couldn’t let the weight of everything pull you under before you even tried. What would be the point if you didn’t at least try and enjoy yourself?
Shaking the tension from your shoulders, you took a sip of your drink, the burn of alcohol easing the knot in your stomach just slightly. The guys were chatting among themselves, Johnny’s laughter cutting through the low hum of the bar as he joked with Kyle. Price was listening intently, nodding along while Gary seemed content to let the others talk, his eyes occasionally flicking to you, though his gaze didn’t linger long.
And then there was Simon.
His presence loomed even when he wasn’t speaking, his broad frame leaning against the bar just slightly, face half hidden by the shadows. You caught his eyes for a split second, the intensity of his stare making your pulse hitch. You quickly looked away, focusing on your drink, your nerves creeping back up despite the effort to push them aside.
You could feel his gaze on you, though, like a weight pressing against your back. You tried not to let it show, tried not to acknowledge how his proximity seemed to pull at something inside you, but it was impossible to ignore. There was a pull, something in the air, but you couldn’t quite grasp it.
Sighing inwardly, you turned your attention back to the others. Just enjoy yourself, you remind yourself again. Don’t think about him. Don’t think about any of it.
Johnny clinked his glass against yours, a grin on his face. “Here’s to not letting the night pass us by,” he said with a wink, and you couldn’t help but smile back, lifting your glass.
“Cheers,” you said, the warmth of the alcohol giving you just the nudge you needed to ease into the evening. For now, you’d ignore the tight feeling in your chest. You’d enjoy yourself.
But the eyes that lingered on you would remain, whether you were ready for them or not.
You pushed your chair back with more force than necessary, the scrape of it against the floor loud in the otherwise quiet bar. The conversation still echoed in your ears, but your focus had been on the man, Simon, for the past half hour. His silence had become suffocating, every glance he cast in your direction feeling like it held some hidden meaning. You couldn't quite place it, but something was off about him. His eyes, cold and intense, had followed you too much, made you second guess every word you’d said.
"Im... gonna go powder my nose," you muttered, more to fill the silence than anything else. You didn’t wait for a response, the words barely out of your mouth before you were already making your way across the room, past the low hum of idle chatter and the clink of glasses.
While you were in the bathroom, the entire team turned their attention towards Ghost, each of them sizing him up, starting with Soap.
"What is wrong with you?" Soap asked, his voice a mix of disbelief and amusement.
"What?" Simon blinked, genuinely confused.
"Mate, you've been gawking at her all night," Gaz added, raising an eyebrow, his voice teasing but laced with concern.
"Shit. Are you serious?" Simon muttered, running a hand through his hair, but his gaze didn't stray far from where you had just disappeared.
Roach, leaning back casually with his drink in hand, nodded thoughtfully. "Yeah, it's like you’ve been stuck in a staring contest with her since she walked in."
Price, who had been watching quietly, shook his head with a resigned sigh. He snuffed out his cigar in the nearby ashtray, eyes narrowing as he met Simon's gaze. "If you scared her off, I doubt you’ll get another chance, lad."
Simon’s jaw clenched. He hadn’t realized how obvious it had been, but now that the team was calling him out on it, he felt the heat rise in his chest. He hadn’t meant to make you uncomfortable, but the pull to look at you, to remember what had sparked your connection all those years ago had been almost magnetic.
“Alright, alright,” Soap teased, leaning in, a smirk tugging at his lips. “Just don't burn a hole in her head.”
“Shut up,” Simon muttered, his mind racing, trying to figure out how to fix this without making things worse.
Price shared a look with the rest of the team, a silent understanding passing between them. While Soap might have been the one to set this whole thing in motion, it didn't mean the others didn't have contingencies in place.
Soap got up first, stretching a bit. “Gonna make sure no one's tried to get in my car,” he said with a casual tone.
“I’ll come with you,” Gaz chimed in, already pushing himself up from his seat and following Soap toward the door.
A minute later, Roach also stood, excusing himself without a word, and then Price followed suit, his movements deliberate. “I’m gonna make sure they’re not up to anything,” he said with a knowing glance.
With everyone out of the immediate area, the bar suddenly felt quieter, and the tension in the air seemed to thicken. It took Ghost only a second for it all to click—he had been set up. Without thinking, he bolted from his seat, rushing outside just in time to catch the taillights of Soap's car disappearing down the street.
He cursed under his breath, but before he could make another move, his phone buzzed in his pocket. Pulling it out, he glanced at the screen. There, in simple words from Price:
“Good luck.”
Ghost stood still for a moment, phone in hand, as the weight of the situation hit him. His heart thudded in his chest. This was it. There was no turning back now.
By the time you returned to the table, you felt a bit more at ease. The night out wasn’t all that bad… it was just that Johnny had some weird taste in friends. Well, mostly the tall one. You couldn’t help but notice how everyone seemed to have left, a pit forming in your stomach at the thought of being ditched.
You let out a quiet sigh, about to gather your things and head out when your phone lit up in your purse. Pulling it out, you saw a text from Johnny.
"Emergency, looks like one of the beers wasn't that good, poor Kyle threw up."
You paused, reading the message again, a small smile tugging at your lips. Aww… nevermind. At least they hadn’t forgotten about you after all.
"Hope he's okay." You replied quickly, grabbing the straps of your bag when suddenly a hand landed on top of yours.
You looked up, meeting the intense gaze of Simon. Seriously? You couldn’t help but think. They took everyone but this guy?
You forced a smile, trying to pull your hand away, but Simon’s grip was firm, not unkind. “Look, I had a decent time, but I have to go—”
“Just a minute,” he interrupted, his voice low, steady, almost pleading. There was something about the way he said it that made you pause, something different than the usual small talk.
"Fine." The word slipped out before you could process it, and you cursed yourself inwardly. Really? You just agreed to stay with the guy who hadn’t stopped staring since you met him. You sat back down, and he mirrored you, settling across the table.
Silence stretched between you, his intense gaze unwavering. He didn’t so much as blink, and you couldn’t help but feel more unsettled by the second.
What the hell is his deal?
“Look, if you're just going to be a creep, I don't think I want to mee—"
“Do you remember Armed Forces Day?” His voice cut through your words, quiet but resolute.
Okay, this took all day, I wanted to give you all something long to read incase I disappear for finals (which I might)

There is an AITA out there that I can't find but it's been haunting me for weeks with visions of semi-angsty Steddie that I need to release onto the world. (If anyone happens to know what I'm talking about hit me up and I'll link it)
Edit: @jazzathebunny found the original AITA from Reddit linked Here for anyone who wants to read it. ------
Modern AU, Eddie and the guys are a moderately successful local band in the Chicago area playing gigs on the weekends and doing small tours whenever they all have the time. Gareth and Jeff are both in college while Eddie and Freak are both working part-time at a game store. Eddie managed to lock down that assistant manager position that lets him work 30 hours a week with weekends off for gigs. All in all, it's a pretty sweet deal and they can't complain.
Eddie had sworn off dating after a small handful of disastrous relationship attempts in their first year in the city. He dismisses any advances from people who attend their shows and tries not to think about how much he wants to make a genuine connection with someone and have something real. He's been burned one too many times to try and make something with someone he met in a bar or at work.
He knows the guys talk about it behind his back sometimes, he catches Jeff and Gareth fervently whispering to each other and stopping when they catch him entering the room one time too many to not suspect they're talking about him and he can't think of anything else going on in his life that they would feel the need to whisper about.
The fervent conversations take a slight uptick one day and about a week and a half after they do, Gareth hits him up and tells him he wants to set Eddie up with a guy from one of his classes. At first, Eddie is skeptical and cites all the reasons why he doesn't want to try with anyone right now but eventually, Jeff jumps in to plea the case and Freak jumps in on top of that and under the combined weight of his best friends he agrees to meet up with this Steve guy.
The guys set up the whole thing and before Eddie knows it it's Saturday night and he's wearing his best black jeans and a gray button-down, untucked, to go on an honest to God blind date like his life is some low-budget romcom.
Steve is not at all what Eddie thought he would be. Not the kind of guy he thought his friends would pick out for him given they know he usually goes for other alternatives like himself. Steve, who is shyly waving him over and getting out of his seat to great him, is the very epitome of prep. Well-fitted polo, light blue chinos, and what Eddie assumes this guy thinks are casual loafers. He's handsome to be sure, a 12/10 at least with perfect hair and defined biceps but Eddie is fairly sure he's being punked.
But, Eddie doesn't want to be rude so he goes to meet Steve at the table, confirming just in case that he's actually here to meet with a guy named Eddie. Steve gives him a bit of a confused look, saying that Gareth showed him a couple pictures of Eddie before he agreed to meet and figured he'd done the same for Eddie off Steve's Instagram. Gareth had, in fact, not done anything of the sort but they both dismiss it and get on with their date.
In all honesty, Eddie is expecting it to be a complete wash, but it turns out that even if Steve is not at all what Eddie would have previously said what his type, Steve is damn near perfect. He's funny, kind, a little bitchy, and even though he proves himself to be every bit the sports nerd he looks like he doesn't turn his nose up at Eddie's own much more classically nerdy interests. By the end of the date, Eddie has a new type and that type is Steve Harrington. He's quick to lock down a second date for the next weekend which Steve happily agrees to. They exchange numbers and Steve gives Eddie a chaste kiss on the cheek that has him floating all the way home.
Steve texted him that next morning letting him now he had a great time and is really looking forward to their next date and Eddie thinks this might be the start of something big for him. When he gets to practice he's clearly still floating on cloud nine and in his own little world designing their marriage invitations and matching tombstones so he doesn't notice the sly grins on his bandmates' faces.
"So...how'd it go last night? Everything you dreamed it would be?" Gareth asks, a strange glint in his eyes that Eddie doesn't clock.
Eddie goes on and on about how nice Steve was and how he might be The One, thanking Gareth profusely. Freak looks pleased for him, giving him a hard pat on the shoulder in congratulations but when Eddie finally tunes back into the real world he's greeted by Gareth's livid expression and Jeff's overly concerned one.
He asks the guys what the fuck is up and it turns out that Gareth and Jeff set this whole thing up as a prank of sorts. Eddie was never supposed to hit it off with Steve who Gareth selected specifically because he's a "totally brain-dead prep" and as far away as someone could get from Eddie's previous relationships. He was supposed to be someone Eddie could go on a date with and not form a connection with without getting completely burned at the end like all his previous relationships in the hopes of getting him out of his slump.
Jeff was in on it as well. He wanted to get Eddie back out there, so when Gareth presented the plan he sat in on a couple of Gareth's general credit business class sessions to help pick the guy out.
After Jeff and Gareth finish explaining he does a complete 180 and just...leaves. In any other situation, he would be raging and verbally tearing his friends a new asshole but instead, he completely disengages and walks out the garage door, ignoring his friends' shouts to come back.
He goes back home, socked and hurt and so very confused about how the hell he found himself in this position when his phone lights up.
New Message: Steve H.
Fuck.

❝FIDELITY❞ |part5
MASTERLIST -`✮´- Rafe Cameron x Kook!Reader x JJ Maybank
Summary: Kook!Reader’s world is upended by betrayal, and her only way forward might lie with the most unlikely person—JJ Maybank. But as they build a new life together, old flames and past mistakes refuse to stay buried.
Warnings: sadnesses.
previous - next
He’d never thought of himself as someone who could be in a serious relationship. He never thought he could be devoted enough, or love someone that deeply. For Rafe, it was beyond impossible. Fleeting interests had always come first in his life.
It’s not that he found it difficult to connect or share feelings with someone; he just never wanted to. He’d always seen it as a waste of time.
Whether love even existed was something he still wasn’t sure of, because he didn’t believe in it.
But he was sure the feelings he had for you were real. He couldn’t say it was love—he wasn’t even sure love existed in that way. But the affection he felt for you was beyond words.
Yes, he was rich—rich enough to support his family for three generations. But he quickly realized that the bond he had with you was his real wealth.
He’d never thought of you as different from anyone else. To him, you were a typical Kook: rich, aware of your own beauty. To overlook that beauty, he would have to be blind.
Yes, he’d liked girls before. He liked spending time with them, preferring quick, physical flings over emotional entanglements. He was the kind of guy who enjoyed one-night stands.
Until he met you.
You’d met in a completely ordinary way. You already knew of each other; you both came from the island’s wealthiest families. It was impossible not to know one another.
When you ended up side by side at one of those dull Kook events, neither of you thought you'd hit it off. You weren't much of a drinker, usually preferring lighter, non-alcoholic cocktails. But that event was so painfully boring that you thought you couldn’t get through it without a drink in hand.
You hadn’t expected him to be there. You hadn’t expected him to want to escape the event, just like you did. And you certainly hadn’t expected that, while grabbing different drinks, the two of you would start talking.
You ended up spending the whole night together, maybe just to pass the time, maybe because you actually enjoyed the conversation—you couldn’t really tell.
But after that night, neither of you could stop thinking about the other.
Surprisingly— you were the first girl to linger in Rafe’s mind without him sleeping with her. He couldn’t get the length of the conversation, or your laugh, out of his head.
From then on, things began to change. At every party, his eyes searched for you. At every Kook event, he hoped to find you alone—watching for those rare moments when you weren’t with your family. He didn’t see you as some object of desire; he saw you for who you were.
He didn’t just want to have sex with you; he wanted to spend time with you.
At parties, the second he saw you, he unconsciously pushed away any girl sitting next to him. He wanted you to see him differently, even though you already knew his reputation.
When he realized you were starting to show up at every party, he started distancing himself from other girls. Not only did he push them aside, but he wouldn’t even let them come close to him. He acted without thinking, because if he had thought it through, he would have found a way to stop himself.
He didn’t want you to see him as a playboy. He wasn’t sure how he wanted you to see him; he just wanted you to see him as… a good person. Even he couldn’t believe he was trying to change himself, but he couldn’t help it.
Rafe looked at you with the same awe an eight-year-old might have if they saw Spider-Man in person.
He couldn’t help but want you. But it wasn’t just desire—he was crazy about you.
Every time you talked, he wanted more. For you, he’d probably break down the atom just so you two could talk about it for hours.
It didn’t take long for the two of you to share a bed. But for the first time, Rafe didn’t feel fixated on that. He didn’t just have sex with you; he made love to you. Every kiss ignited a warmth in his chest. Every time you moaned his name, his heart pounded for you. Every time you held hands, he couldn’t help but kiss your hand.
He’d never felt this way for anyone. No one else was like you. You were the only woman who made him feel like he even had a heart—aside from his mom.
And it went on like that. Rafe stayed loyal to you. Even when you weren’t officially together, when you were just flirting and spending nights together, he never looked at another girl.
At parties, he couldn’t keep his hands off you. Whether it was your hand, your arm, or your waist… he always stayed close. He liked acting as if you two were in a real relationship.
Rafe thought he was just feeling things more intensely than usual. He’d never felt this way about relationships before. You were the woman who’d stayed in his life the longest.
When you two finally got together, it felt like a fairy tale. Everything was perfect, and it stayed that way. Every time he saw you, his heart warmed. Every touch, every time you called him “my love,” it erased the world around him. There was only you. His whole world revolved around you.
Everything was perfect.
Rafe’s life had been nothing but a sea of gray. But the moment you entered his life, all the colors returned.
During the year and a half of your relationship, Rafe felt like he was lying on a beach, listening to the ocean waves. Every moment with you brought a peace to his life like birdsong.
Yes, there were arguments. But you two always found a way through. It was surprising, but he couldn’t stay away from you; he couldn’t stand being apart. You two never even talked about breaking up.
Not until now.
Neither of you had the strength for a breakup conversation. To do that would mean it was truly over. That the beautiful year and a half was done. Rafe had never wanted that. But somehow, he knew his reactions—the way things had spiraled—had led to this moment, and it scared him.
A few weeks back, you’d sent a message saying you were keeping the baby. He hadn’t known what to say. He was afraid, afraid things would stay just like this. And a message saying you were keeping the baby definitely felt like a breakup message in your language. He was sure of that. His heart and mind were at war.
Every moment with you had made his heart race with love and excitement; he’d never felt this kind of weight—especially from you.
“Earth to Rafe! Get it together, dude.” Kelce’s voice snapped him out of it, and Rafe looked up from his drink to find Kelce looking ready to shake him. He hadn’t even realized how lost in thought he was. His day-to-day was becoming affected.
He was lovesick, but he was the one who’d pushed you away.
Rafe dropped his hand from his chin and ran his fingers through his hair. He hated looking weak. He’d worked so hard to prove that he wasn’t. He wanted to show everyone a breakup wouldn’t break him. His eyes, lips, and face might lie, but his mind was consumed with thoughts of you. “I’m fine,” he replied, his voice firm. He felt like he was losing his mind when he wasn’t with you, but he wasn’t ready to accept what came with you.
He liked risk, loved adrenaline. He enjoyed going full throttle, ignoring the dangers.
And you were pregnant. With Rafe’s baby.
There were so many times he wanted to erase that thought from his mind. He wanted to pretend it didn’t exist. He loved you like crazy, but this wasn’t the life he wanted or was ready for.
He didn’t feel good enough to be a father. He wasn’t at an age to start a family. He had a whole life to live. He could spend years with you, but he wasn’t ready to start a family. All he wanted was you. Just you, without all that extra.
Rafe rubbed his eyes, feeling suffocated by his thoughts, glancing around. He was sick of this stupid place. Golfing, hanging out at the country club—it all felt so fake. He felt like he couldn’t breathe, as if he was suffocating even though they were outside.
It was like the sunny sky suddenly turned to pouring rain in front of his eyes.
“This place is boring as fuck. I’m out.” He raised a hand to call for the check, noticing the questioning looks from Topper and Kelce. He didn’t owe them any explanation. Who were they to him anyway?
As if they were so important…
“I swear, serious relationships are a disease. If it’s gotten even to Rafe Cameron…” Rafe exhaled heavily, watching the waiter approach as Topper’s mocking laughter echoed. Even his friends talking like that was getting to him.
He’d already gotten into a fight with Kelce over you weeks ago. Even if things were over between you, he wasn’t going to forgive Kelce, not after he’d slut-shamed you. Topper clearly wanted things to cool down, hoping his two closest friends would both be at his upcoming birthday.
"It's like he's had a serious relationship before and found someone to actually date," Topper snickered, while Kelce nudged him under the table. Kelce looked ready to lunge at him, clearly annoyed, and Topper seemed just as irritated. Bringing up your situation, knowing it would rile Rafe, made him look like he was out for a fight. If they weren’t at the golf club, Rafe was sure Kelce would be on him in a heartbeat.
"Talk like your dating history’s any better, it’s hilarious. First, there's Ruthie—total bitch nightmare. Then there's Sarah Cameron, your best friend’s sister. Clean up your act first, creep."
Rafe could hardly stand it anymore. If he heard Kelce mention one more name from his life, he was going to knock him out. He’d rather throw himself off a cliff than lose more brain cells listening to these two idiots. When their chatter finally died down, Rafe took a deep breath. He hated this.
"Hey Sofia, you look as… Pogue as ever. You guys just love that, don’t you?" Topper grinned, watching the waitress as she met his gaze with a blank look, as if his very presence annoyed her. She quickly shifted her attention back to Rafe. Watching the exchange, Topper nudged Kelce, amused by the interest sparking in Sofia's eyes. He couldn’t help but find it funny.
As Rafe took out his wallet, he listened to his friends’ ongoing conversation. "I can't be alone here with you in this dumb place. I can’t stand you and your girlfriend. It’s like the two of you found your perfect match.” Instead of responding, Topper rolled his eyes and ignored Kelce as he took out his wallet.
Topper, like Kelce and Rafe, took out his wallet, muttering, "Right, says the guy with so many partners he’s practically a walking biohazard."
Kelce's eyes widened as he insisted that wasn’t true, making Topper chuckle. He loved stretching the truth for a laugh. Kelce rolled his eyes, quickly handing his card to the waitress, while Rafe’s gaze drifted to his open wallet. He couldn’t help but notice the photo tucked inside—a picture of you and him.
Was this how you’d keep showing up in his life?
Would you just appear, throwing yourself in his face whenever he least expected it?
He hadn’t seen you in weeks. Rafe wasn’t sure if you were avoiding him or if you were holed up somewhere, in your own world. He sighed as he looked at the photo, memories washing over him. He missed the old days, and the weight of this picture hit him so hard he felt disoriented. Your cheeks pressed together in the photo, with Rafe's arms wrapped around your waist while you snapped the shot. That smile on your face—it was so beautiful he couldn’t look away. He could’ve stared at you for hours, just watching. He had watched you sleep so many times. Somehow, you only grew more beautiful each time he saw you.
His love for you was a flame that refused to die, and it didn’t take a genius to see it. He loved you.
Though he couldn’t admit it, he was scared. It shouldn’t have ended like this, but he didn’t know what to do.
Rafe wasn’t one for big moments. He wasn’t known for making the best decisions. He’d usually take his time, mulling things over until he was sure they were right. But in quick decisions, he tended to mess up and stumble.
Hearing about your pregnancy face-to-face had sent a wave of panic crashing through him. Even though he had no idea what to do, he tried to keep his composure. He couldn’t forget the moment you’d tearfully said the two of you were a mistake. He wasn’t used to seeing you cry. Those red eyes of yours were burned into his memory.
He didn’t want regrets. He didn’t want to wish he’d done things differently.
But the thought of a happy ending with you? That had never even crossed his mind.
As he kept looking at the photo, a faint smile tugged at his lips. He couldn’t help but remember that day. Time with you had been so perfect, filling him with warmth every time he thought of it.
He remembered it so clearly. It was your third month together, seven months since everything between you had started. You’d shared countless special moments. Every experience with you was a first for him. Whatever you two did, he felt like a clueless schoolboy with a crush—and he meant that.
Who had he ever woken up with, wrapped in his arms? Who else’s hair had he smelled as he fell asleep? Who else’s eyes had he gazed into, getting lost? Who else had made his heart race like this?
No one. In some ways, Rafe Cameron was a total virgin Mary.
For the first time in ages, your family had to go overseas, leaving you home alone—for a week. Being with you felt like a vacation to him. You swam, you cooked, he tried to make you breakfast, you showered together, you slept…
That week was so perfect he felt like he was filled with peace. He’d replay it in his mind over and over again. You and those memories were always there. Always would be.
This photo was taken just after you’d both showered, right before cooking a meal together for the first time. You both made dinner that evening. It wasn’t the best, but because you’d done it together, no amount of money could buy a meal that meaningful.
It was honestly an achievement for you both. You went into the kitchen at six and finally finished cooking by nine. At one point, you even considered ordering pizza but convinced each other you were close to done. And then you spent another two hours in the kitchen—guess it wasn’t so “close” after all.
It was such a beautiful day.
After dinner, you’d made sex.
As he felt his smile widen at the memory, a sudden jab to his leg snapped his attention back. His smile faded instantly, replaced by his usual hard look. Trying to figure out what had happened, he noticed the waitress waiting for him. Frustration bubbled up in him for interrupting his happy thoughts of you. He looked away from the photo, quickly pulling out his card without making eye contact. He knew that if he looked at you, he wouldn’t be able to look away.
"Sofia’s waiting. Just give her what she wants," Topper teased, a smirk on his face, as Rafe sighed and tapped his card.
If he gave attention to every girl who showed interest, like he used to, he’d never be able to keep a serious relationship. Not that he was sure your relationship was even still… ongoing.
But he was certain he’d be off the market for a while. Touching someone else after you didn’t feel right. Embarrassingly enough, he doubted he’d even, well, respond to anyone else.
He stood up, grabbing his keys as he hurried past the waitress without a second glance. As crazy as it might make him to be alone, he couldn’t handle his friends’ stupid conversations any longer.
Even if it drove him mad, he couldn’t stay by Topper or Kelce’s side for another second.
As soon as he got in his car, his phone rang, and he let out a long sigh. Not a single moment of peace today. His thin veneer of calm was barely hanging on, and it felt like the day was determined to shatter it. Starting the car, he glanced at the number on the screen before it even connected.
Wheezie Cameron.
What on earth could she want?
Honestly, if Wheezie was calling him, it’d better be because she was in actual danger or Rose had finally stormed out of the house for good.
He was really hoping for the second one. He didn’t have a penny to spare right now.
“What?” he answered, not hiding his irritation. All he wanted was to get out of this trashy place and be stretched out at home with the ocean in view. No Wheezie, no Rose, and definitely no Ward. In fact, he’d had it with all of them. He was so done with seeing the same faces every day.
All he wanted was silence.
“Hello to you too, Rafe.” Rafe couldn’t help but roll his eyes at her tone. It drove him crazy. He wanted to chuck his phone out the window. Whatever Wheezie needed, she’d better spit it out so he could say no, hang up, and blast Kendrick Lamar.
“Just tell me, Wheezie. I’m not in the mood.” Wheezie was still young, and Rafe tried—halfheartedly—to keep from cursing around her. Ward and Rose had chewed him out about his language, and sure, they had a point. But it was annoying. He was the big brother—though honestly, he’d have preferred being an only child.
“Nope,” she said smugly. Rafe tightened his grip on the wheel, jaw clenched. Why did both his sisters have to be such idiots? It was like God deliberately made both his sisters total morons. “I’m not telling you a thing until you say hello properly.”
Rafe slammed his hand against the steering wheel, fighting the urge to yell. He forced himself to keep his eyes open. He was driving, after all, and the last thing he wanted was a crash. But if Wheezie kept this up, he’d be losing control of the wheel voluntarily.
“Hello! Hello, Wheezie! Now, spill it!” The words came out as a shout before he could stop himself. Immediate regret hit him. His temper was awful lately. You were gone. In short, he was a mess.
When he heard her give a dramatic sigh, he pinched the bridge of his nose. She wasn’t fazed, of course. She was used to this, barely fazed by him anymore. Classic Rafe, right? “So, I was out today. Shopping with Rose—”
Rafe knew how his sister worked—unfortunately. She wasn’t excitable, but she loved to narrate. Whatever the hell had happened, she was going to start from the million hours leading up to it. With a deep breath, he braced himself for the full play-by-play, including the time of day and every store clerk’s name. God help him if she started counting her steps…
The Kendrick Lamar dream was officially dead.
He had zero interest in listening to a full breakdown of her day with Rose, but if he hung up, Wheezie would go ballistic. She’d tell their dad, and Ward would chew him out for that, too. That he couldn’t deal with. Right now, he just wanted a bit of time to himself. Just some peace. Just him, alone.
“Then, I saw this blue dress—”
Rafe wanted to drive the car straight off a cliff. He couldn’t handle this. This was killing him. Every pointless detail Wheezie added wrecked his efforts to calm down.
“...and then we left, and we ran into Sarah. She asked about you. Can you believe it? Then she said she wanted to meet up— Family reunion!”
What the—what is even happening?
Even when you were holding your baby in your mind, all you could think about was ice cream. The cravings were off the charts. Sometimes, you wanted something so badly it felt like the world might end if you didn’t get it. Lately, strawberries were your biggest craving. You couldn’t stop. If your hands weren’t stained red from eating so many, you felt like you’d explode.
But right now, your mind had drifted back to ice cream. You wanted vanilla ice cream so much you could’ve dived into a whole tub of it.
You wanted someone with you when the cravings hit. Someone who’d put up with your fussing—like Rafe.
Just thinking about him made you tense, which was happening way too often these days. Especially now, carrying his baby, it was almost always on your mind, making you anxious.
Being alone was really hard. You’d never felt alone in a crowd—until now.
You waited.
You really waited. When you told him you were keeping the baby, you’d waited for some kind of response. You’d waited for him to call, to come over, to tell you he’d be there. But he never showed.
He didn’t text, didn’t call, didn’t make an effort. He left you to handle this alone.
To be honest, you hadn’t been sure you’d even keep the baby when you first told him. You were just so angry, you’d wanted him to think you would. But even so, your mind never actually veered toward an abortion, though you had the right. There was nothing wrong with choosing an abortion—but you’d decided you wanted this baby.
The idea of a man controlling a woman’s choices was sickening. Having an abortion was a right, just like having a child was.
When you went for your first appointment and saw the baby for the first time, your heart raced. They asked if the father would be coming, and you didn’t want to answer, but a quick “No” slipped out. Your mind wanted him nowhere near this, but your heart couldn’t quite let go.
Luckily, you’d always been someone who chose her head over her heart.
An “almost-man” who’d abandoned you with his child—he wasn’t worth it. He wasn’t even a man at all; he was just a boy.
Taking responsibility was part of it. You’d respected his boundaries. He’d made it clear he didn’t want this, so you’d made your choice to raise the baby on your own.
Single motherhood would be hard, but you wanted this child.
And you’d do what Rafe wanted. He didn’t want the baby, so you’d make sure he’d never see it. You’d make sure he’d never touch, never meet this child.
When you were on that exam table, he should have been the one holding your hand.
But he wasn’t.
The support came from where you hadn’t expected it.
Your mom.
She was still upset you were keeping the baby, but it didn’t take her long to understand this was your life. The day you’d left home in anger had seemed to shock her into a full 180.
You knew your dad didn’t approve, either, but they’d never once turned their backs on you. Maybe they were scared you’d leave and never come back. Who knows?
When you learned the baby was healthy, you felt a deep calm settle over you. The doctor told you it was too early to know the gender, but you could wait. That was okay.
You were two months and three weeks along.
Despite everything, all the heartache, when you listened to the baby’s heartbeat, it was like none of it had ever happened. When your mom saw your eyes welling up, she quickly looked down, but she squeezed your hand and smiled.
From the woman who’d once shouted for you to get an abortion, to the one tearing up over her grandchild…
It was strange.
The baby was healthy. There was no sign of any issues. And soon enough, in just a few weeks, you’d know the gender. That made you happy.
Your hands were shaking when they gave you the ultrasound photo. You didn’t feel shy about asking for a few extras—you wanted to put them everywhere. The reality of it struck you all over again. You were going to have a baby, to be a mother, and there were only months left to go.
You’d be a mom, and you’d do whatever it took to give this child a good life.
You
Are you still working at the ice cream shop?
JJ Maybank
Nah, got fired.
Why?
You
Shit. I really need some ice cream.
JJ Maybank
Ok.

Nemesis with Benefits - Part 6
Summary: “Three weeks have passed, and the inevitable truth leads to some harsh conversations…”
Wc: 3.3k
Tropes: enemies-to-lovers
Warnings: ANGST big time, fighting, crying (my heart hurts)
A/N: hello… I finally finished the newest chapter and I immediately wanted to get it out so you can all read it. I am incredibly sorry that it took so long, and I am also sorry for the amount of sadness in this chapter… but it had to happen🥲
General Masterlist
Series Masterlist
It's been three weeks since you last saw Harry, and you feel terrible.
About what exactly? You're not sure. Dylan's sudden appearance. Harry just— walking out. What Harry and Dylan did to you. What you have been doing with Harry...
It seems that, just as the dust had started to settle, this tornado entirely threw you for a loop again. Finally getting to terms with your feelings and accepting the idea of a friendship with Harry, it all came crashing down the moment you spotted Dylan at that pool table.
You'd spent hours furiously scribbling in your notebook to understand the depths of this tricky situation you'd managed to work yourself into, but you haven't found a logical solution or explanation for any of it.
Only that Dylan is a total dick, that is.
You had to admit that you needed some time to come down from the shock and bottled up feelings that had exploded right in front of your face. But by the end of the week, you were ready to find Harry and talk about this. What that conversation would lead to, you had no idea, but speaking to him was vital.
And apparently impossible.
He wouldn’t respond to your texts, nor your calls when you eventually decided to give calling him a try. When you'd finally mustered up the courage to sneakily ask Benjamin about Harry's whereabouts, you were smacked in the face with the news that Harry had left.
He'd gone home to England to visit his family, Benjamin said. When you'd asked whether it had to do anything with the Dylan fiasco, Benjamin had shrugged and said that Harry did visit his family every single year. But he also mentioned he went a bit earlier than planned, so he thought the other night might have had a little bit to do with it.
Planned or not planned, it left you with a lot of confusion and doubt for the next two weeks, one of which you spent in your own hometown, trying to enjoy spring break as much as you could with a broken heart and an occupied mind.
You hadn't returned to your college town yet when Harry finally did, and you were bummed about not being able to talk to him. Rebecca and Benjamin were going to a party Harry was throwing so you guessed you'd hear about his state when you got back.
It would've be a bit embarrassing to admit, but it's one of the reasons you caught an earlier train this morning. You texted Rebecca, telling her you’d back sooner than planned. but you hadn't heard from her so far. While you'd thought it was a little weird, you figured you'd see her this evening anyway.
You didn't expect her to be at your front door.
A smile creeps onto your face as you neared her, leaving your luggage to the side as you open your arms for a hug, but Rebecca just stands there, arms crossed. Quirking up a brow, you ask:
"Hey, are you okay?"
A few seconds pass before she responds.
"We need to talk."
Absolute, utter dread fills your entire body as you nod, grabbing your suitcase. "What is it about? Do you want to go upstairs?"
Rebecca doesn't answer your question, she only nods in response to your second. You are quick to unlock my door and walk towards my apartment with her. The elevator ride is silent and excruciating, and when you've finally entered your living room, you're quick to ask away.
"Okay, what's going on?" Your question sounds almost irritated, which in hindsight doesn't seem very smart because it only seems to tick Rebecca off. What is going on with her?
"Harry threw a little get together yesterday," Your friend sighs, crossing her arms. "and I couldn't help but notice the familiarity of his home address when he sent it to us."
Your face pales. Oh my god, you are going to throw up. This cannot possibly be happening right now. Rebecca notices your instant change in the demeanor, her own growing angry. You take a few steps back and sit down on the couch.
"You slept with him, after what he did to you?! How could you do that?!"
You are at a loss of words, despite having thought about how you were going to break this news to her one day. "I— I don't know, I don't know..."
"What do you mean you don't know? You slept with the guy your boyfriend cheated on you with! God, have you no self-respect?!"
Her words hit you like a slap in the face, and as the tears roll down your cheeks, you begin to shake your head.
"Rebecca— I..."
"No, listen, Y/N. For months, Benjamin and I have been walking on eggshells, trying so hard to make sure you're comfortable. Benjamin even punched Harry, for Christ's sake. Do you even know that?"
You nod slowly, the guilt that has been tightening around your throat settling in your stomach as well.
"I'm sorry..." You peep, looking down at the floor. Meeting Rebecca's eyes is too terrifying at the moment. You can't handle that right now.
"God... why him? You don't even like him." Rebecca goes on, and the tears prickling in your eyes turn into full blown sobs as soon as the words have left her mouth. With your hands buried in your face, you don't see your friend sitting next to you, but you feel her rubbing your back.
"Shit... you like him, don't you?" She concludes, and your crying only increases at hearing that confession fall from another person's lips. This is the most complicated thing you have ever experienced. It takes a minute or so to finally manage to control your tears, and have calmed down enough to respond.
"I don't know how this happened." You confess between your sobs. "I didn't— I wasn't supposed to!"
"Hey, calm down." Rebecca pulls you closer to her, and you continue crying in her lap. "Everyone has at least one person they weren't— supposed to sleep with."
You pull yourself up, wiping away your tears as you shake your head. "I meant, I wasn't supposed to care about him. Sleeping with him was a choice I made, and I don't regret it because it was a distraction, and it worked. But it only worked because I hated him. I wasn't supposed to start... caring."
"Sweets, being that intimate with someone will leave you with no other option than to care for them, at least at some point." Rebecca reminds you. Your gaze is fixated on the ground, all these truths flying through your scrambled mind. You let out a heavy sigh.
"I'm sorry." You finally say, and another tear slips down your cheek as Rebecca strokes your hair.
"No, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have made that comment about self worth, that was uncalled for, and mean. I was just angry, but that's no excuse."
You look at your friend, whose eyes also seem to be blurry, and conjure a faint smile. "You're forgiven."
Rebecca pulls you into a tight hug, and it takes her a full minute before you finally get her to agree to let go. When she does, she immediately stands up and grabs a glass of water for the both of you while you wipe your smudged mascara away with a tissue.
"So, what are you going to do about it?" She asks when she sits down, handing you the glass. You shrug before taking a large gulp of the water before setting it back on the table.
"I have no idea."
Rebecca leans back into the couch, eyeing you for a couple of seconds before speaking up. "Can I be really honest here?"
You're careful to look your friend in the eyes, her bluntness scaring you sometimes, but you nod anyway.
"I think you two are a pretty good match— you know, if you wouldn't count all the shit that happened of course. I was actually surprised when you went out with Dylan instead of Harry in the beginning. I thought Harry was a much better fit for you.” She tells you, and your brow quirks up at her words. You didn't expect her to go down this route. “You're just... compatible, you know? Plus, I was convinced he liked you."
"Rebecca, he hated me from the start." You scoff, but she shakes her head intently.
"No I know, but I swear, he asked about you before that party where you met him and Dylan. I thought he was interested in you."
By now, you have your hands buried in your hair as you listen to all this new information that you are being fed by your friend. This is way too confusing and it's making your headache even worse.
"But then you told me he was being rude, so I just brushed it off as a lapse of judgment from my side. Of course now we know he was acting like an asshole to you because of Dylan—which I still think is a dick move, by the way." Rebecca rants on. The weight on your chest that had seemed to have subsided for a minute has grown in size again.
"My point is, your relationship with Harry has been a wreck from the start, and the main cause for that is Dylan. So if you can't get over the Dylan situation, it's probably going to be impossible to ever build a lasting relationship with Harry."
Rebecca's words ring in your ears. It's a revelation that has been looming in your mind for a bit now. There was a part of you that knew this was an extremely complicated situation and therefore didn't want to tackle it, as a possible solution seemed to be non-existent. You've hit a wall in your relationship—if it even can be called that—with Harry, and if you really want to move forward, you'll have to climb over that wall and hope Harry will take your hand and come along.
You sigh, your tired eyes meeting Rebecca's. "You're right."
************************************************
It's been about an hour since Rebecca left and you've been pacing your living room ever since, devising a plan on how to talk to Harry. What to say to him, how to say it, and with what outcome in mind.
A knock on the door relieves your from your taunting thoughts for a moment, but opening your door throws you for an entirely different loop as you find Harry standing across from you.
He looks worn out. The dark circles under his eyes aren't extremely prominent but the sole fact that they're there tells you enough. He also appears to be in gym clothes, which makes you wonder whether this trip to your apartment was planned or not.
"Hey." He croaks out, his eyes flicking up and down your face and body, calculating any reaction that might come from you.
"Hi." You respond breathlessly. Neither of you say another word—you spend most of the silent minute staring at him—until Harry finally clears his throat.
"Can I— uh..." his finger points towards your living room, and before you know it, you step aside. He enters your apartment, following you as you head for your couch.
Another dreadful silence follows as the both of you sit next to each other, waiting for the other one to break first. It's excruciating and it feels like it goes on forever. You don't realize you're picking at your nail beds until Harry's voice takes you out of your dissociative trance.
"I'm sorry."
"For what?" You scan his face, squinting your eyes a bit. There is something unsettling about his demeanor. It's so passive, at least it seems.
"For just leaving like that." He meets your eyes, and you notice the guilt displayed in them. Not knowing what to say, you refrain from answering as you think of everything that has happened. When you finally do open your mouth, Harry's focus on you is so intense that it makes you a bit nervous, the weight of your words becoming much heavier now that you know Harry will be hanging onto your every single one.
"You really hated me, you know. And it wasn't just because of Dylan. You despised me, always did, and I never understood why."
You watch as his eyes turn glassy and he shakes his head, softly whispering 'no' over and over again. Your brows crease at his attempt at—what seems to you—denial. He can't oppose that he hated you. He has literally said it multiple times.
"Don't pretend that you didn't Harry, I know you did."
"No, that's not—" he protests.
"Then what is it?” The questions falls off your tongue in a hurry, the frustration that has been bottled up inside of you slowly beginning to unleash. "The other night, right before spring break, I really thought we were on our way to becoming friends. I felt like it was actually possible. And then you just— left. One glimpse of him and you were gone.”
You take a deep breath before continuing. “It's been eating at me for the past three weeks that you just walked out and began ignoring me. So please, Harry, clarify it for me because I don’t understand any of this.”
Harry hangs his head and sighs. “It's complicated. And stupid... and probably doesn't make any sense."
"Then make sense of it." You command, leaning forward so he is forced to meet your eyes. He holds your gaze for a few seconds, then nods, a small frown on his face as he figures out what he wants to say. You try not to hold your breath as you wait for him to start, but you find yourself doing it anyway as soon as he starts speaking.
"I, uh— I'd liked Dylan for quite some time, and he knew that. He led me on for a long time, and I was trying to get over him, but it just felt like it was impossible, you know?" He explains, picking at the skin on his fingers out of nervous habit. You hum, telling him you understand without actually interrupting him. He continues.
"So, one day I was walking out of class and I ran into Rebecca. She was with you and some other girls, and you were all waiting for her while she was talking to me. I remember seeing you, and I thought you were very pretty, which was special to me because I hadn't felt so intrigued by someone in a long time."
Your heartbeat becomes more prominent, and suddenly you can feel it beating loudly as he speaks. You fiddle with your sweaty hands. He was intrigued by you? The nerves swerve through your stomach, not being able to make sense of what Harry is saying just yet. It’s contradicting everything you’ve known about Harry’s feelings towards you since you met him. But Rebecca’s words hang in the back of your head, and there is a wave of anticipation that almost overwhelms you: the anticipation that Rebecca might be right. Harry clears his throat.
“So anyways, I asked Rebecca about you and she told me you'd come to the party. Later, I was kind of— stalking you on Instagram, and Dylan saw. He teased me about it. Suddenly he started to give me loads of attention again. And I thought maybe he was jealous, and he had realized that he liked me, and this was finally the moment that it would all work out.” He says with a certain bitterness, not necessarily aimed at anyone but himself. As if he is mad at himself for those past rose-tinted thoughts he had regarding Dylan. “But then he got together with you at the party a couple days late, and I was just... so angry."
Harry’s eyes become glassy, and you feel your heart crack. After your break-up with Dylan it became clear how much effect he had on Harry. Now knowing the history, the constant push and pull, you don’t find it weird. Harry had allowed him inside his heart time and time again, all the while Dylan would just figure out how to play at his heartstrings. Just enough to keep him coming back everything single time, hoping something had changed.
“It felt like he wasn't allowing me to get over him. I had finally met someone who made me realize that maybe the first stages of like— love and dating shouldn't feel like your heart is constantly being ripped from your chest. That it could be innocent and fun. And it felt as if he was mocking me for it, by going after that hope and taking it away.”
He looks at you, and you give him a weak, sympathetic smile, swallowing away the physical pain you get from hearing about Harry’s emotional pain. Caring so deeply can be the most euphoric thing, but it’ll come back to bite you in the ass when the person you care about is hurting. You realize then, in that moment, how thin the line between a blessing and a curse is.
But when your hand finds his and you intertwine your fingers, you figure it’s more of a blessing anyway.
“And I just— I don't want to spin it as if you were a piece of meat, because Dylan cared about you. I saw that, and I hated it because I used to wish it was me. It made me be a dick to you, and I’m really fucking sorry about that, because you didn’t deserve that at all. If I could take all of that back then I would.”
He sighs as soon as all the ramblings of words have left his mouth, and you feel the weight of that sigh. His body tells you it as well: he’s relieved. Initially, you find yourself at a loss of words, and the only thing that your mind can generate as a response escapes before you can stop yourself.
“Well, if you take it all back then we bever would’ve have had such mind-blowing sex, right?” You blurt out, and Harry chuckles at your stupid joke. You laugh along as you try to scramble together a real answer, stroking his hand with your thumb.
“I’m sorry Dylan used you like that, I can only imagine how frustrating that is. And while I agree you should’ve never been so grumpy to me, I can’t say that I haven’t acted rude out of jealousy before.” You say earnestly, the thought of that night at the bar popping inside your head. You weren’t exactly nice to that girl Harry was talking to either. In fact, you didn’t acknowledge her at all.
“Rebecca said we need to get over the Dylan situation if we ever want to build any sort of relationship whatsoever. We need to forgive each other and move past it, otherwise we can never be— friends.” Your cheeks heat up at your quick save. It’s quiet between the two of you, but his grip on your hand doesn’t loosen the slightest bit. Harry is staring at his lap, making it difficult for you to read what he’s thinking. He raises his head to meet your eyes, and when you are met with the sight of a tear rolling down his cheek, your own vision blurs instantly.
"How can I forgive you for something you never did?"
The hopelessness of his question smashes your heart into a thousand pieces. You are quite sure you physically hear it crack. The broken pieces pierce into every part of your body, including your throat, that feels too heavy as you gather strength to answer him. Your breath hitches the first time you try to get some words out and fail, so your voice wavers when you manage to speak.
“I don’t know...”

♡︎ part8. a complete silence rule
MINORS DNI!
・❥・pairing: vi (arcane) x fem!reader
・❥・ summary: you and Vi came to library for studying, but she can`t resist touching you
・❥・ genre: smut + kinda friends to lovers
・❥・ word count: 1.9k
✎ warnings: 18+, smut, dom!vi, oral sex, fingering, sex in public place
WHEN I NEEDED YOU masterlist
a week after Vi was discharged from the hospital, she returned to college. she wasn’t allowed to play yet, but she didn’t miss a single practice, even if it just meant warming up with the others and then sitting on the bench to watch. she recovered quickly, but if you hadn’t insisted, she would’ve tried to play on the first day back. the doctor had strictly forbidden it, and you made sure to keep an eye on her. though Vi was eager to return to her normal pace, full recovery required time, as the risks were still too high.
another bit of good news - Troy was no longer on the team or even at college. you saw him clearing out his locker as his parents and security escorted him away. when you asked your dad if he knew anything about it, he simply kissed your forehead and told you not to worry. either way, you didn’t mind; whatever your father had done, it had worked. truth be told, it even scared you a little, but Troy got what he deserved. naturally, all accusations were dropped, and your mom mentioned in confidence that your father had threatened Troy’s family, saying you’d press charges for assault and all the vile things their son had done. it was a relief to finally exhale; for a moment, it even felt like the air without your ex was lighter.
without Troy’s bullying, Josh finally left the team, free from the person who’d tormented him for years. he seemed to have started playing guitar in his garage. but the biggest surprise was that he’d found a partner. according to Trish, they met at the last match and hit it off, though homophobic Troy had always intimidated Josh, and for good reason. long story short, many people in his social circle felt better without him, and you were glad it was over.
after classes, you met Vi in the parking lot. she kissed you on the lips and wrapped her arms around your waist, letting her hands slide lower. smiling mid-kiss, she murmured, “maybe I should transfer to another school”
“and why’s that?” you teased, slipping your hands under her shirt, pushing her jacket aside, and pulling her closer, which made Vi bite your lip.
“I can’t focus on school or anything serious when you walk around looking so gorgeous and tempting,” she said, squeezing your hips and leaning you against the hood of her car.
“I can’t stand my loneliness, especially when you two are kissing so sweetly out here for all to see,” interrupted a voice. it was Trish, standing behind you with her arms crossed. “just a reminder, Vi, that I was the one who first told your new girlfriend how beautiful you are, so both of you owe me”
finally, you and Vi let go of each other and laughed. Vi took your hand and said, “and I’ll be forever grateful to you for it”
“ready to go?” you asked Trish, who was still grinning as she watched the two of you.
“I came to say I won’t be able to make it today. mom’s not feeling well, and I want to stay with her. do you mind if we reschedule for tomorrow?” Trish said, looking a little apologetic.
“of course, no problem at all. send her my best and wish her a speedy recovery. if she’d like, I can bring over some of my mom’s special soup; it’s really delicious,” you replied understandingly.
“that would be wonderful. thank you, I’ll text you about tomorrow” Trish gave you a quick hug goodbye before hurrying home.
“where were you two going, and what’s been rescheduled for tomorrow?” Vi asked, curious.
“the library. we have a history test coming up, and Trish and I often go there to focus. there’s a total silence rule, so we can’t gossip or listen to music. it sounds odd, but we get distracted so easily that the library’s our only hope,” you explained.
“want me to go with you?” she looked into your eyes. “unless this is some kind of special friend ritual?”
“no, no, nothing like that, but are you sure you want to sit quietly for an hour with a history book?” you raised an eyebrow at her.
“yes, especially since I have the test too. I’m not playing right now, so the coach won’t be able to get me extra credit for athletic involvement,” Vi said a little sadly, clearly missing her usual active lifestyle. but you weren’t giving in - the doctor’s orders were law, especially for Vi, and she deserved the best care.
“alright, then, let’s go,” you decided to steer the topic away from sports to take her mind off it.
“why an hour, though?” Vi asked, referring to what you had mentioned earlier.
“well, it’s not strict or anything, just a rule Trish and I came up with: an hour of uninterrupted studying, then any break or distraction we want. it’s like a little motivation,” you shrugged with a smile.
“if it’s the rule, then let’s follow it,” Vi said as she opened the passenger door for you and got behind the wheel.
ten minutes later, you arrived. there weren’t many people there, so you took your and Trish’s usual seats near the bookshelves. as you’d told Vi, there was complete silence, only occasionally broken by the sound of turning pages. Vi sat next to you, taking off her jacket and hanging it on the back of the chair. when she turned back, she caught you staring at her hands, biting your lip, which made her smile and raise an eyebrow. you felt a bit embarrassed, but it wasn’t surprising - you never focused on Trish this way, yet with Vi nearby, you realized it might be a little harder to concentrate.
you quickly looked away, pulling out a sheet with the test questions. each question had a list of recommended books to review. pointing out a few titles to Vi, you both set off to find them. the history section had plenty of books, so it took a little time to gather what you needed.
Vi leaned over to you and very quietly asked where she should find a particular book, you pointed to the bottom shelf, and she nodded. running your eyes over the stand with books, you saw that a little higher is hidden a book, the author of which is your teacher, usually it is occupied by someone, but today was a good day. when you reached for her, Vi looked up and was very pleased with what she saw. the length of your skirt gave a good view of your underwear, which made Vi feel incredible desire and attraction. she carefully stood up and slowly ran her hand down your leg from your ankle to your thigh until her fingers were under your skirt. you almost didn't let go of the book from your surprise, your eyes became round and goosebumps ran through your body, you wanted to say something, but Vi only put her index finger to her lips. she took the book and placed it on the shelf, leaving her other hand on your butt, glancing over at you, she smiled at you, desire burning in her eyes, you felt incredibly attracted to her, so you moved a little closer. her lips covered yours, you tasted her as her warm tongue slipped between yours, Vi pulled you closer to you, squeezing your butt tighter, her other hand ending up under your shirt, her thumb gently caressing your skin as her lips kissed you.
she pulled away from you and leaned into your ear, saying “the rule of complete silence, remember?”. her fingers ran up the fabric of your panties under your skirt and she ran her hand down touching you. she smirked when she felt how wet you were, running a finger over your clit you rested your head on her shoulder holding back a moan. every movement seems very slow and you wanted more, you could feel the vibrations going through your body when her finger started stimulating your clit more actively, you held on to her with your hands so you wouldn't fall. she covered you with her lips again and you felt her finger enter you, a wave of pleasure covered your body, you immediately started to move on it, kissing her more passionately, your hips moving and your body getting heavier. she wasn't about to stop, her finger digging into you harder and harder as you struggled to hold back a scream. only the rustle of the books reminded you where you were now, you almost didn't care, you could feel your wetness running on her finger, you were so wet and excited that you didn't care if they could hear you now, you wanted her touch, you wanted to cum from her fingers, you wanted to show her what pleasure she brings you. when her second finger was inside you tightened your grip on her, and Vi sped up as much as possible, your legs were just shaking at this point. Vi's other hand pulled your bra down and squeezed your breasts, you threw your head back and surrendered to the feeling, you came so hard it made your head spin. holding you, she pulled her hand out of your panties and pressed you against the bookshelf, kissing you again. her lips moved to your neck and trailed down.
“what are you doing?” you said almost inaudibly in surprise.
Vi just looked up at you and answered “you said we had an hour”
goosebumps ran down your spine and she returned to your neck again, kneeling, Vi placed your leg over her shoulder and lifted your skirt, putting her index finger to her lips again to keep you quiet.
her fingers gently pulled your panties to the side, and she ran her tongue over your pussy, collecting a mess you had done earlier. your body was so heavy that you grabbed the shelf with one hand to keep from falling. her lips pressed against your wetness, she didn't tease like before, her tongue was immediately inside you, you opened your mouth again in a silent moan and ran a hand into her hair. Vi's hands wrapped around your ass, and she ate you out greedily as you held back a moan. she was sucking your clit and running her tongue which was giving you incredible pleasure, you were moving your hips to ride her face as she explored your most intimate place. the second orgasm didn't take long, you came from her tongue even faster than from her fingers. you didn't have any strength left, but how nice it was. she put your panties back in place and climbed on top of you.
“I see you liked it,” she said teasingly. you just bit your lip and nodded, straightening your skirt.
“maybe next time I can sit on your face properly” you winked at Vi and ran your finger over her lips which were still wet from you.
“no reason to wait, you can still stand so…” Vi smiled and took your things and led you by the hand out of the library to the questioning looks of the others.

Bro, you don't understand, I had no intention of writting this, I had shit to do today, but it has possessed me. Send help!!
When Stuart rescues Nathaniel from certain death, he doesn't hand him over to the feds — He hands Nathaniel over to Ichirou Moriyama.
Ichirou wants a shiny new guard dog to match his shiny new throne. Nathaniel has never had any interest in using his skills like that, but he had forgotten all of his mother's advice. He stayed too long and he grew attached. All Ichirou had to do was threaten the Foxes safety and claim to have already taken one out as a warning to get Nathaniel to fall in line. Hearing that he had gotten Andrew killed was enough to convince Nathaniel to bury the final dregs of his humanity.
The Butcher lived to kill, enjoyed it, took his time, and he became a monster with his own urban legends. But Nathaniel was the opposite. He was quick and clean, because he hated killing. He was not a cautionary tale, he was a ghost. They turn Nathaniel into a personal driver and pilot for Ichirou. The body guard is too obvious, but no one really looks twice at the driver. The only person to ever utter the nickname 'the surgeon' was Ichirou.
Nathaniel had been forced to use knives like a Wesninski was meant to and it took time for him to spill enough blood to earn the trust of the Moriyamas. But when he did, he started to dismantle their empire. He adopted his mother's weapons of choice when carrying out his vengeance, so that Ichirou would not know it was him gunning them down until Nathaniel wanted him to know.
By the time he put a bullet between Ichirou's eyes, over two years had passed. But Neil Josten was dead, and Nathaniel didn't know what to do with himself now that the family he left behind were safe from their largest threat. It's months before he works up the courage to check on his old life, and he starts small. He starts with Jean, because he doesn't think he could survive reading anything about Andrew. But slowly he starts to look in on the Foxes that have already graduated. It's not until he gets to Kevin that he finds Andrew's name mentioned.
He closes the article immediately. He had been avoiding that pain for two years, he didn't know how to address it now. It takes three articles for Nathaniel to realise that Andrew is still being referred to in the present tense. When he finds the same in articles four and five, he finally searches Andrew's name.
There is nothing about his death to be found. It's not possible, but he's still listed on the line-up, right alongside his twin and cousin; Andrew Minyard, number three, starting goalkeeper for the Palmetto State Foxes.
And Nathaniel is on a plane to South Carolina without a second thought, cluching desperately to the torn and bloodied black fabric that Ichirou Moriyama had tossed at his feet when he had refused to pick up their blades all those months ago. He had never intended on letting the Foxes see the monster he had become, but he had to know the truth. He had to see Andrew with his own eyes to believe it.
I want "Neil died in Baltimore" Andrew and "The Moriyamas killed Andrew as a warning" Neil to meet

You're getting drinks with him? - Gojo x Reader
Jealous? Gojo x Gender neutral reader
Gojo x Reader x Nanami (if you squint)
Gojo Satoru needs help in persuading the higher ups to extend Yuji's execution date but he needs more support from outside sorcerers. Nanami and Mei Mei already signed their support, with some convincing, but he needs one more signature. Yours.
No NSFW, slight makeout sesh tho
Word countt 6.1 k
(This will go on ao3 once i get an invitation ;-;)
Only people who lived under a rock in the Jujutsu world have not heard of the new Vessel of Sukuna. For the first time in hundreds of years, someone with the potential to harbor Sukuna's soul had been found and now they were a student at your alma mater, Jujutsu High in Tokyo.
You knew him by another name of course, Itadori Yuji, who was the frequent subject of conversations with Nanami and Gojo. Aside from the small group of friends/work colleagues you had who still operated with the school, the news of the boy faded as quickly as it was mentioned. You had no authority or say in the matter of what happened, as did most other sorcerers. The decision on his execution and his subject of studies were completely out of your hands. The topic of Yuji became something similar to discussing the weather when conversing with other, non-involved sorcerers.
The topic of the boy was far out of your mind at the moment, having just finished a mission and now reporting to several second-grade sorcerers on how to clean up the rest of the residuals. Being a grade-one sorcerer, you have several second and third grade sorcerers under your command. Recent jujutsu graduates or those simply looking for a recommendation for promotion.
The small groups nod and split off to finish the rest of the clean up when you stretch your arms up to crack your back. A small gash on your thigh burns with slight pain and your left wrist is most likely sprained, but otherwise you're mostly unscathed.
maybe i'll give shoko a text and see if she's free for a quick repair and a cup of coffee.
You keep walking, past some of the rubble and cracks along the road until the edge of the veil is within arm's reach. You push past the murky and thick wall of the veil and stare out at the edge of the street, where Nitta opens the door of a black sedan and stands facing you.
“You've been requested at the school.”
You stop walking and blink at her passively before glancing at the blood seeping from the denim of your jeans onto the pavement.
“Is it urgent?”
“Yes.” she responds without missing a beat.
You let out a sigh and look back at the woman, slowly dragging your feet across the road. She motions for your entrance at the passenger door, and you slink into the seat, muscles slowly tightening with exhaustion. While she walks to enter the driver’s door, you reach forward to position the heater onto yourself and pull the chair into a reclined position.
Nitta slides into her seat in an upright position and begins the drive to campus.
“If your injuries are serious you can see Shoko before your meeting.”
You hum while tapping the thigh that isn’t stabbed to a slow pattern and stare out the window, leaning your head against the glass and watching the trees and buildings pass.
“Who is it that requested my presence? I don’t have a scheduled meeting until next week with Principal Yaga over potential student internships.”
Nitta fluidly turns the car and enters the highway and keeps her eyes on the road, “Gojo Satoru made the request.”
You pull your eyes off the window and flick them over to her before facing forward and pulling out your phone with a click of your tongue. Tch. You power it on and look at any missed notifications– just a text from Nanami about grabbing a drink after his lesson with Yuji and a spam email about a sale for your favorite bath soaps. He could’ve just called me if he wanted to meet.
You slide the phone back into your pocket and shut your eyes, relaxing against the headrest and trying your best to not let the frustration of your now interrupted evening get the best of you.
Nitta turns to you before facing the road again, “He mentioned it wouldn’t take very long. And that he would be on time.” Her voice was light with some pity laced into the words.
You let out a mix between a scoff and laugh and shake your head lightly, “yea I’m sure he will be.” Your voice is laced with sarcasm.
Nitta hits a particularly big pothole and you let out a slight wince in pain, opening your eyes. Maybe I’m more beat up than I thought. She turns to you with concern and you simply wave your hand off. You stare back off at the scenery passing you. This better be fucking important.
******
The rest of the ride was relatively quiet and only filled with occasional small talk. How is working at the school going? Good, what about you – how is being an independent sorcerer going? It’s the same conversation you’ve had a million times with her and Ichiji. By the time the car pulls into the small dirt lot in front of the principal’s building your social battery is nearly completely worn out.
Nitta opens the door for you and you stumble out with a slight wince and look around the campus. Late autumn causes the leaves to change color and begin to litter the grounds with a pretty mix of orange, red, and yellow leaves.
“Shoko is in her office. Do you need assistance getting there?”
You take a few steps from the car and breathe in the fresh air. You turn to Nitta and before you can answer, a voice calls out from the steps leading to the entrance of Yaga’s building.
“That’s fine Nitta, I can take them.”
You look up and watch Megumi descend the stairs in his casual clothes with a blue scarf wrapped around his neck, “I needed to ask her a question anyways.”
Nitta turns to you for approval and you lift your hand, “It’s fine, I’ll walk with Megumi. Thanks for the ride though,” and shut the car door as you walk to the stairs.
Megumi raises an eyebrow and looks you over for a second, “You got pretty beat up.” You shrug and point with your chin to begin walking to Shoko’s office, “Yea, well you should’ve seen the other guy.”
Megumi doesn’t laugh at the joke and just gives you a worried glance.
“I’m fine Megumi, the second grade curse just wound up attracting a first grade one as well. And it’s not the end of the world, I’ll be fine.”
It’s obvious Megumi wants to press you on it a bit further but holds his tongue. When Gojo first took him under his wing, Megumi formed an instant attachment to you. Disillusioned with the school and tired of constant orders from higher ups, you left as soon as you graduated, but still made time to see him. It’s obvious he’s been working hard to get out of the system just like you.
“What are you doing here anyways Y/N? I wasn’t expecting to see you until next week for the internship procedures.”
The two of you walk along the wooden hallways admiring the scenery of the campus.
“Satoru called me here for some reason. I have no idea what for.”
Megumi looked at you thoughtfully and shrugged, “Hopefully you didn’t have plans, that idiot is probably gonna be a few hours late.”
You let out a pitiful laugh and shake your head, “I actually had plans with Nanami in the works but who knows if I’ll actually be able to do them.”
Megumi nods and turns the corner, “He’s out with Yuji now. Which is actually the reason I wanted to see Shoko.”
You don’t speak but your silence encourages him to continue.
“Just a basic question if she knows how Sukuna’s and her own reverse cursed technique differs,” he pauses and looks at your injuries, “but that can wait until after you’re healed up.”
You let out a small smile and nod. The walk is filled with more small talk, and is only cut short when Megumi gives a courtesy knock before opening the door to Shoko’s office for you.
“I’ll see you later if you’re still on campus. If your plans with Nanami fall through let me know. Maybe we can get some dinner.”
You smile and wave off Megumi, heading into the office where Shoko sits on her stool, now looking up from her files and at you.
She has a small smile on her lips, “Need some help?”
You flash a half smile and angle yourself to show your bleeding thigh that has now stained all of the denim of your jeans from the injury down. Her eyes follow the stab wound and then linger on your swollen left wrist letting out a low whistle.
“Well then,” she stands up and slides on a pair of plastic gloves, “I better get to work.”
****
By the time Shoko is finished the sun has begun to dip low in the sky, leaving a warm orange glow over the campus. It’s not particularly late, only 4:45 pm, but the colder months create longer nights than days.
You sit in a meeting room leaning back against the plush cushions of the couch. Shoko leant you a pair of sweatpants to wear instead of your bloody and cut up jeans along with a sweatshirt that won’t restrain your bandaged arm and wrist. Both are oversized and you don’t particularly recognize her ever wearing them. But they’re warm and cozy and you feel extra comfortable in them hearing the cold wind blow against the windows from outside.
Steam lifts from the mug of green tea set on the coffee table in front of you, still too warm to drink. Megumi just left from dropping it off, stating he was off to spar with Maki and Inumaki for a bit and to call him if your meeting ended early.
The large grandfather clock ticked in rhythm and the beat was enough to almost lull you to sleep. Shaking the drowsiness from your eyes you pulled your cellphone from your pocket and opened Gojo’s contact up.
You: Where are you?
Read ✓
Ass. You bit the inside of your cheek and rolled your eyes. Before you could throw your phone across the couch, a ‘ping’ chimed from it.
Satoru: Finishing up a quick convenience store run. What kind of roll cake flavor do you want? Matcha like always?
You deadpan at your phone. He’s running late to stop and get desserts? Does this prick have no idea the shit I’ve had to deal with today?
When you don’t answer immediately your phone chimes with another notification.
Satoru: I can feel ur frustration. Don’t worry I’ll get multiple flavors then~ Be there soon(ish)
A long sigh leaves your lips and you close Gojo’s contact and pull up Nanami’s. You re-read his invitation for drinks again and decide to call him, now that you have more time than you would like on your hands.
You click the green ‘dial’ button and raise the phone to your ear. The line rings three times and before you lose hope there’s a ‘click’ and then a deep “Hello?”
You lean your head into the phone, “Hey Kento it’s Y/N”
His tone is noticeably lighter at the sound of your voice and Nanami immediately responds, “Oh, hello Y/N. Did you see my message about drinks tonight? Or should we do it another night?”
You let out a sigh and shift to lean against the armrest of the couch. Your legs stretch out over the cushions and your feet dangle over the other armrest.
“Ugh. I’m stuck at the school right now. I mean I needed to come here anyways to see Shoko, but Satoru wanted to see me. And he’s not even here yet!”
You play with a piece of your hair while waiting for Nanami’s response. His voice is smooth and deep and also slightly concerned?
“Needed to see Shoko? Are you injured?”
You wave your swollen hand as if he can see it and wince at the action, “Yea but nothing too bad; should be fine by tomorrow.”
A sigh can be heard on the other end, “You should’ve told me. Even if you were able to meet up tonight, I’d rather know you’re ok than see you show up in crutches unannounced.”
A small smile grazes your lips, “Ah. Well, I’m not that beat up. But I’ll definitely let you know next time. Maybe a cool photo of me with a black eye in front of some residuals.”
“That’s not funny” though the tone in his voice is lighter. It’s obvious he’s happy you’re alright.
You roll slightly onto your side and grab a pillow to squeeze against your chest, “Anyways, I’ll be stuck here for a bit. Maybe let’s just grab some brunch tomorrow or something.”
No matter how many times you try to describe the benefits of the combination of breakfast and lunch to Nanami, he’ll still prefer separate meals for them.
“Brunch? If we are eating after 11am I would prefer to just get lunch,” He pauses for a moment, “but if it makes you feel better I suppose we can get... the combination of meals.”
You laugh lightly into the line and hear footsteps in the hallway approaching the door.
“Thanks Kento. Anyways I gotta go. I’ll text you a few good cafes we can go to.”
Nanami says goodbye and as soon as you hang up the call, the door bursts open and Gojo walks in as if he isn’t an hour late.
“Hey Y/N~. Hopefully you didn’t wait too long.”
You roll your eyes and place your phone back into your pocket, not bothering to make room for him on the couch.
Gojo saunters into the room after shutting the door and places a large paper bag, presumably filled with desserts onto the coffee table. He takes the loveseat across from you and crosses his legs comfortably. His smile falters for a moment when he sees your outfit but it returns quickly.
This time almost the twinge of a blush on his cheeks. So faint you don’t even notice it.
“It’s been an hour Satoru. For something so supposedly important you sure know how to push it back.” You dig in your pocket for some chapstick and languidly apply some before shoving back into the fabric of the pants unamused.
Gojo laughs airily and leans forward to unpack the paper bag, placing various baked goodies onto the table before folding the paper bag and placing it on the floor.
“Oh come on. It was for a good cause. I even stopped to get you matcha and strawberry roll cakes. Along with a few other desserts.”
You raise an eyebrow and survey the deliciously packaged foods sprawled out in front of you.
“What’s this about?”
Gojo is in the middle of opening a vanilla whipped cream cake and doesn’t bother looking up,
“What do you mean? Can’t I bring my favorite friend a treat?”
You scoff and sit up normally, eyeing the delicious array of sweet treats set up.
“You only act like this when you want something. And besides, I thought Suguru won that title years ago.”
You sit up straighter and lean to grab a small container with a matcha loaf cake along with a napkin before sinking back into the couch.
Gojo waves his hand and takes a bite from his dessert before smiling again, “You’re important to me too ya’ know. Why else would I bring such nice treats?”
You roll your eyes and begin to munch on the cake, enjoying the sweetness of the cream and bitterness of the matcha on your tongue, “because you want something. You’re only sweet when you want something from me,” you speak with a full mouth.
The wording brings a pale color to his cheeks again but you’re too invested in the dessert to notice. Gojo smiles and then places his dessert back on the table.
His voice now serious, “I’d like to think maybe I do nice things for you for another reason. But that’s for another time,” he takes a breath and you can feel his eyes through his blindfold staring at you. “I need your help regarding Itadori Yuji.”
This makes you pause. Gojo often talks A LOT about a lot of things, but rarely does he ask for help on anything. At least not earnestly.
You raise an eyebrow and lower the cake you were about to take another bite from away from your lips, “Help? What do you need my help for?”
Gojo lightly shakes his head with an airy laugh, “Lot’s of things... but for this, I need your support in his mentorship.”
You furrow your brows, “I’m not following you here. I’m not a teacher or advisor for the school.
Running some work internships is one thing, but mentoring is different.”
Gojo nods, his gaze through the fabric still intense, “I know. The higher ups want to push Yuji’s execution date closer. Next week.”
You sit up in shock rattling the coffee table, nearly spilling the mug of now lukewarm tea all over the desserts, “What?! They can’t just move it like that!”
Your thoughts immediately race in worry and confusion. While you weren’t close with Yuji per se, you knew Megumi cared deeply for him. Now that you think of it, you’ve rarely seen Megumi without Yuji and Nobara.
Gojo nods solemnly, “I know. And that’s why I need your help.”
His voice pulls you from your thoughts and you look up at him, waiting for him to continue.
Gojo sighs and lifts his hands, fingers deftly removing the ties holding his blindfold up. In a fluid movement the fabric falls onto his lap and his piercing blue eyes make contact with yours.
Almost in a trance you find yourself in a locked gaze with the man, only to be pulled out when he breaks the connection to slide on a pair of sunglasses. Though his eyes still peer at you through his now disheveled white hair and over the tinted lens.
“I’ve already spoken to Nanami and Mei Mei on this, they’ve signed a contract petitioning the higher ups to extend the deadline. Usually two sorcerers would be enough, but they’ve insisted on a third.”
You nod, now keeping pace with his reasoning, though you wonder why Nanami didn’t mention anything sooner.
Ah that’s why he probably wanted to get drinks tonight.
“Who?”
Your eyes snap up. Did I say that outloud?
You shake your head, “just... thinking to myself is all.”
Gojo raises an eyebrow and tilts his head, his voice now serious and somewhat frustrated,
“anyways” he grits out, “I need you to sign the petition as well. Offering mentorship if needed, though considering I’m still here, it’s unlikely you would actually have any responsibility.”
You nod your head and look back at the desserts, “Sounds good. Let me know what to sign and I’ll get it squared away.”
What time is it? I bet I can still meet Nanami for drinks in a casual bar considering my outfit. We can discuss Yuji, as well as what to do next in case the higher ups make another rash move.
“Are you listening?” Gojo’s voice cuts through.
You snap out of your thoughts and stand up slowly, “Yea I’ll sign the documents, just hand them over.”
Gojo doesn’t move and instead looks up at you, frustration evident on his face, “Seriously? That’s it?”
You pause and raise an eyebrow in defense, “I’m sorry? I said I’d help, isn’t that what you wanted to hear? Besides I care about Yuji too so of course I’d stick it to the higher ups.”
Gojo stays seated, “No, I mean you say you’ll help me out and protect Yuji and then you just stand to leave like that’s it?”
You blink, growing frustrated, “Is there something else I’m needed for? Seriously Satoru, you could’ve just called me for something like this. And besides, if you don’t have the document here for me to sign right now why does it matter if I get up to go?”
Gojo stands up and furrows his eyebrows, his height forces him to look down at you, “I have the document in my office. But that isn’t the point. I mean you seriously don’t want to talk about this more?”
You can feel a migraine coming on. Exorcizing two curses, getting injured, getting healed, and then into an argument isn’t exactly what you wanted to go through today.
“I figured if there was anything else important you would’ve said it already. There’s no point arguing if there’s nothing else to say. Let’s just get to your office to sign this so I can make another meeting I have planned.”
Gojo scoffs and shakes his head, his white strands moving side to side with the action. His voice is laced with venom, “A meeting? Is that what you’re calling it? I heard you when you mumbled to yourself, you’re gonna go get drinks? Seriously?”
You pinch the bridge of your nose and shut your eyes, trying to not look at Satoru, “Why does it matter? It’s with Kento anyways.”
Gojo looks back at you incredulously, “Kento? I didn’t realize you two were on a first name basis.”
Finally having enough you look back at Gojo with your hands on your hips and voice raised, “We’re close friends Satoru, why does that even matter to you?”
Gojo stays silent and looks you up and down slowly. Once. Then twice, before scoffing “Well regardless of how close you are, any guy would be confused as to why his date is wearing another man’s clothes.”
You pause, arms coming slowly at your sides and your blood feeling like ice water. You look down at yourself and take a moment to really examine the clothing. Oversized sweatpants and sweatshirt. There’s a small embroidered writing on the hoodie to indicate it’s from Okinawa.
When has Shoko ever gone...?
You look back up at Satoru, eyes wide in realization. Any words on your tongue die immediately.
Why did she have to give me his clothes?!
Gojo’s cheeks are now lightly dusted pink as he holds eye contact with you, though his stare holds frustration and almost jealousy.
“I...”
“You..?”
You swallow thickly with embarrassment, wishing the world would just swallow you whole in that moment so you would never have to show your face the light of day again. Eventually you calm your heart rate and take a deep breath, “I didn’t know these were... Shoko gave them to me..”
The explanation isn’t properly worded but Gojo follows along, the malice leaving his eyes and softening as you mention Shoko’s name. His eyebrows raise and his face is almost one of worry, “Shoko? ... Are you injured..?”
The gentleness of his voice almost hurts as your heart pounds with emotional whiplash. So much frustration turned to embarrassment turned to something else fatigues you extraordinarily.
You try your best to swallow the mess of emotions and shrug, “Yea but I’m fine... My other clothes got torn up and she didn’t want the bandages to get caught on anything so she handed me these. I didn’t know they were yours Satoru.”
Gojo nods slowly and stays silent. The clicking of the grandfather clock is deafening in the silence and neither you nor Gojo go to speak for what feels like an eternity.
“So.. should we just go to your office now?” You eventually break the ice, awkwardly rubbing the side of your arm, careful of the bandages beneath the fabric.
Gojo stays looking at you but stands up straight. Another moment passes before he slowly peels his eyes away and lets out an awkward cough, “yea.. Let’s do that.”
You nod curtly and follow him out of the room and into the hallway, leaving the array of desserts behind. The walk is done nearly in silence except for the creaking of the wooden floorboards underneath you both.
When you get to his office door Gojo digs in his pocket for the key before swinging the door open and motioning you to enter. You step inside and Gojo follows suit, walking past you and clicking the floor lamp on. The large windows behind his desk fill the room with the remaining orange glow from the sun and warm light from the lamp creates a cozy and familiar space. Despite rarely coming into his office, every time you find yourself here you can’t help but feel at peace.
Gojo unlocks a filing cabinet next to his desk against the wall and begins to flip through a mess of papers and folders. You step further into the office, noticing all the little ways it’s changed over the years. You admire the posters taken as souvenirs from his work travels and bookshelves lined with texts you’re not sure he’s ever read.
Your eyes then catch on his desk, an array of framed photos sit along the border and you’ve never seen them there before. Gojo is too preoccupied flipping through the next cabinet drawer to notice you lifting the frames one by one. The first photograph is of Shoko, Suguru, and Satoru. The next is those three plus yourself, Nanami, and Haibara. The next one is Gojo with all the current first years. A small smile finds its way on your lips.
Then you walk around the desk and grab the photo on the end of the desk but positioned at an angle so that whenever Gojo sat down it would be facing him. Carefully, you lift the frame and gasp faintly at the image. It’s a photo from a few years ago of you and Megumi laughing hysterically. Megumi is in his middle school uniform and you’re in casual clothing of a T shirt and jeans.
You remember this faintly. It was right after Megumi had gotten in trouble at the school office again and the principal had called you and Gojo to pick him up. When he recounted exactly how he had tormented some of the students you couldn’t help but laugh and then he couldn’t either.
“It’s my favorite photo.”
Gojo’s voice startles you and you nearly drop the frame, the proximity raising your heart rate.
You meet Satoru’s gaze with a small smile and turn away with warm cheeks, placing the photo back where you picked it up.
“It’s a good memory.” You concede, still not able to make eye contact.
Gojo smiles and places the paperwork onto the desk next to where you were leaning. He takes a deep breath, “Sorry it took so long to find it... hopefully your little date isn’t ruined with my poor timing.”
A warm rush washes over you and you shake your head and reach for a pen, “It wasn’t a date Satoru. And besides, I can just meet up with Kento tomorrow.”
His jaw stiffens at the mention of Nanami’s first name but he makes no effort to call you out on it again. Gojo nods and watches you scan the papers to find where to initial and where to print.
As you skim the pages a moment of realization washes over you. You look up from your place casually and glance at the man, “Satoru?”
He hums in response.
“What did you think back then..? When I was wearing your clothes, why didn’t you... you know.. Say anything?”
Gojo’s eyes widen for a second before looking anywhere else in the room. His cheeks are dusted lightly and he lifts his hand to run through his hair. When you stay silent waiting for an answer he lets out a long sigh and looks back up. His gaze is on the photo of you and Megumi,
“Well.. I didn’t want to make it weird.. And besides.. You looked good in them.”
Your jaw falls a little in shock at the honesty of the response. You nod once and swallow thickly before turning your attention back to the papers. “Ah,” you say while gripping the pen tighter.
“Y/N.”
You look back up at him, who is now looking you dead in the eyes with earnest, “I meant what I said earlier. You’re,” he pauses for a moment and closes his eyes for a quick exhale before continuing, “you’re very important to me.”
Your face is bright red at the confession. Or is it a confession? Important as in friends right?
Right. Friends.
You let out a light sigh and try to salvage any chance of friendship, “of course. You’re important to me too Satoru” you try and say as casually as you can.
Gojo notices and shakes his head, he looks almost sad as he glances at the photo once again before meeting your gaze. “No. I mean..”
He loses his words and wraps his arms around your left wrist, letting go when you hiss in light pain. Instantly he drops his hold. Gojo looks at you in silence before gently raising your arm and lifting the sleeve of his sweatshirt to reveal the bandages on your wrist and up your forearm.
His eyes scan over in hurt and worry while he somberly mumbles your name.
“I’m fine.. I just-”
“I'm sorry.”
You blink at him. Huh?
“What do you mean?”
Gojo keeps his gaze on your injury, his brows knit with frustration, “I didn’t know. I should’ve been more careful.”
You lick your lips and can feel your heart pounding in your chest, “it’s fine Satoru you didn’t know.. And I’ll be fine..”
He doesn’t release his grip on you and keeps his attention on your arm before looking up to meet your eyes. There’s an almost intimate feeling to the long silence between you both.
Hesitantly he drops your arm but doesn’t move back at all.
“You’re more important to me than you realize. I do those stupid jokes and bring those little desserts for you because I do care. I promise.”
He looks back at the photo and lingers on the image of you grinning wide with laughter and a small smile forms on his face. Gojo turns back to you, his expression vulnerable.
Your cheeks are red and you knit your brows in thought. All the years spent joking with him, fighting together on missions with him, mentoring Megumi with him; naturally you two formed a bond. There had been moments of course, moments when the border of platonic and something more blurred. Late nights together watching movies while Megumi slept, overnight missions where the hotel only had one bed, and even grabbing lunch together when he would know your go-to order all brought heat to your cheeks.
Looking at Satoru now it’s clear in those moments he also felt that connection. That there could be something more. He stays quiet waiting for something, anything to leave your lips.
You look from eye to eye to lips and back to his eyes again, slowly thinking it out. There would be consequences, but honestly fuck it.
With one more glance back down to his lips you lean your head in to test the waters and Satoru instantly matches the initiation leaning in and connecting his mouth to yours in a gentle, tender way. Your eyes flutter shut and your lips move against his own in fluid motions. Your strawberry chapstick rubs off against his lips and you swear a light sigh can be heard leaving his mouth.
After a second you pull back, the gravity weighing on you both and you look back up to Satoru.
Not a word is spoken before you reconnect your lips again, this time no longer testing the waters but instead with force and longing.
Your hands raise to wrap around his neck and get tangled in the mess of hair while his find peace on the dip of your waist. Your lips move at first awkwardly, trying to find rhythm but after a few breaks for air in between, they find a synchronous motion. His lips move against your lower one, occasionally biting and nipping it, loving the light gasps and sighs leave your mouth. He groans every time you pull at his hair.
Nearly without you realizing it he pivots to keep you pinned against the desk and stands between your legs all without ever removing his lips from yours. You keep him pulled into you, fervently connecting your lips with passion and opening your mouth when his tongue swipes your bottom lip asking for permission.
He takes his time, switching between open mouth kisses that allow his tongue the chance to explore your mouth and ones with your lips more closed so he can better taste the intoxicating flavor of your chapstick. He swears he’ll buy you an infinite supply as long as you promise to kiss him every time you apply it. You groan into the movements, the vibration stirring something more between you both and you find your mind going completely blank.
His thumbs smooth tiny circles into your hip bones and his other fingers dig into the flesh of your lower back. Your left hand moves away from his hair and instead cradles his jaw and cheek, still able to feel the flesh despite the bandages. With one more tug of his white strands Satoru breaks away from your lips.
Before your foggy brain can mumble a word he reconnects his mouth on your jaw, leaving small pecks until he reaches your neck. A shiver run up your spine and you involuntarily shut your eyes and lean your neck to the side to allow better access. His lips ghost over the flesh and his nose tickles the hairs behind your ear. Without another second he finds the spot he was searching for and begin kiss and nip at the pulse point right under the jaw.
A soft and relax gasp is released from your lips and your eyebrows knit in comfort and pleasure. His kisses turn more forceful, occasionally nipping and then sucking at the spot. One of his hands leaves your waist to cradle the opposite side of your face and angle your neck to allow more space for him to continue. He swears he can feel your heartbeat on his lips and it only drives him crazier.
The force has you wondering if he’s going to break the skin and bleed you dry, but after a moment he relaxes the suction of his lips and runs the flat of his tongue over the spot twice as if to soothe the skin he just bullied. Satoru steps back only a bit and admires his work. There on your neck, right on the pulse is a large and angry purple bruise.
Of course your expression is also one he wishes he could photograph, frame, and place on his desk as well. Hair disheveled, a light pant with red cheeks, and pupils blown with desire. Nevermind, Satoru decides only he should ever see this image.
You blink a few times, your gaze never leaving Satoru’s face. His hair is a wreck, his lips are swollen, and a small line of saliva drips from the corner of his mouth. Hot.
No proper sentences are able to form for a few moments of panting between you both. Eventually you let out a dry laugh and shrug your shoulders forward, accepting the situation and what just happened was very much real.
Satoru reaches forward and tucks a lock of hair back into place on your head and offers you a grin, “So.. still getting drinks with Nanami?”
You laugh and shake your head and peer out the window behind Satoru, “No I don’t think I will. But I did promise Megumi I would call him after our,” you motion between you both, “meeting? I promised him dinner.”
Satoru laughs and reaches forward to grab the signed paperwork and slide it back into the manila folder in his filing cabinet.
You bite your bottom lip, not wanting this moment to end but knowing this isn’t the right location or time to have the what are we now? chat.
“Come with us.”
Satoru turns back to you and steps between your legs again, gentle to not bump into you. He rests his hands on yours, suddenly addicted to the physical contact he has to permanently restrict from everyone and everything else. His eyes are fixed on you as a whole, admiring the complete image in front of him.
“Yea?”
“Yea. It’ll be like the old days,” a genuine wide smile works it way onto your lips
Satoru’s eyes glint and he leans down to kiss the corner of said smile gently before pulling back, “I’d like that.”

The Art of Dragon Age: The Veilguard preview pages Part Two, under a cut due to spoilers. Preview pages come from Google Books.
[Foreword]
[Part One]
In Inquisition you had your advisors in the war room. We liked the idea of bringing the whole team in with you and the opportunity for friction it provides.
Part Two: Joplin
Top: Solas continues to taunt you and guide you through dreams. Middle: The suggestion of romance at sea. Bottom (1): Solas is nearly triumphant, but you reveal that you know about the last elves. Bottom (2): A stealthy, aquatic infiltration in Tevinter. Text: Story Art – After Dragon Age: Inquisition shipped, and all the DLC was complete, we focused our full attention on the sequel. It was going to have a fantasy spy theme, which was eventually modified to “covert commandos”. We were travelling to a new part of the map to hunt down the most dangerous man in the world. The beat boards continued. As the story started to take real shape, we asked if the artists could be moved into the same room as the writers. We could then get real-time updates to the story and create quick storyboards. Previously, most people working on the game didn’t know the full story until all the pieces had been put together in a take-home build (months from shipping the final game). For the first time ever, we could show the whole team what the story was intended to be near the beginning of the project, rather than the end. The biggest benefit of this was that the story could received feedback from a wider cross-discipline audience and could then be iterated on more than ever before. This also helped unblock the art team in an unprecedented way. Being able to look at the whole story in one glance meant that we could begin to prioritize our efforts. For example, we could tell which locations would feature most heavily, so we could spend more time designing their architecture, props, and clothing. It also forced us to do quick first-pass designs without overthinking, knowing that later we could come back and refine things if they changed. This method also takes a lot of pressure off and prevents things from feeling “overbaked”.
Top: The team is at its lowest. Middle: Sparking an uprising. Middle (2): Ghilan’nain is defeated. Bottom: In a dream, Solas is furious with you.
Top: You meet with the Archon of Tevinter. Middle: You stop Solas’s ritual, but something (or someone) escapes. Middle (2): Elgar’nan. Bottom: The patchwork team doesn’t get along at first. Bottom (2): Exploring the Anderfels.
Top: Solas reconstructs the lyrium dagger from the idol. Middle: The team discovers the body of Elgar’nan’s Archdemon. Middle (2): Ghilan’nain. Bottom: Tranquilizing himself, Solas recloses the Veil around himself and the Blight.
Top: This sequence was an early fail state. Solas succeeds in his ritual, life as Thedas knows it comes to an end, and the ancient elves return. Middle: Storyboards had played a critical role in the development of Inquisition. We wanted to integrate them into our process even earlier. To that end, we created an interactive storyboard. Starting with the early drafts of the story, we sketched it all out, including any major choices. These boards were then stitched together into a playable choose-your-own-adventure-style game. It meant that years before the real game was up on its feet, an early draft of the entire story could be played from beginning to end. This was invaluable in receiving early feedback from the team and planning out what visuals would be needed to support the game. Bottom: A rather covert entry into Tevinter remained a consistent element in the story right to the end.
Top: Rook and a team track a mysterious idol to a black-market auction. Middle: You’re not the only team that has been tracking the idol. Bottom: The remnants barely escape. Text: While we worked quickly, these sketches helped reveal where to best spend our efforts later. It turned out we spent far more time in particular locations. Some factions were over- or under-represented. In one case we discovered a unique creature that would have taken ages to build but would have only appeared for ten seconds before disappearing forever (it was cut).
Middle: These quick sketches are often used to approve new ideas as fast as possible. In this case, exploring a “hidden in plain sight” meeting place in a Thedas nightclub. Bottom: Icons from the interactive storyboard, where you could decide whether your Inquisitor had disbanded or preserved the Inquisition, and whether they stood opposed to Solas or not.
Top: Solas reaches out to Rook in dreams. Middle: Exploring new sections of the Deep Roads. Bottom: With the help of the Wardens, you defeat Elgar’nan. Text: After a round of feedback, the story was revised. For the next batch of drawings, we added more polish. This helped us design the game before designing the game. At this stage, we weren’t too precious about anything, so we could make visual design decisions quickly, purely to tell the story. Many designs made during this stage remained largely intact.
Top: A version of the deserts of Nevarra. In this case, trying something with very high contrast: white ash and sharp black obsidian. Bottom: The eastern Tevinter town of Ventus. This Tevinter location is a little less oppressive than the megapolis of Minrathous. You can see the hanging gardens, and in the background are magical statues keeping Arlathan Forest from encroaching any closer.
Top: Another fail state was that if you couldn’t find a way to block Solas from your dreams, he would be able to kill you remotely. Bottom: Solas lures his greatest threats to one location and wipes them off the board.
Top: Some visual backstory for Solas’s cut “bad cop” right hand, Reva. Middle: In disguise at a fancy Necropolis ball, waited on by the undead. Bottom (1): As you sneak into the ball, you sneak into the host’s office, only to find Reva one step ahead of you. Bottom (2): Reva reports back to Solas.
Top: In one draft of the story, Solas manipulated Tevinter and the Antaam into open war, with the goal of performing the biggest blood-magic spell since the creation of the Veil. Bottom: Rook would have to covertly approach both sides of the conflict to plead for peace. Should Rook fail at diplomacy, Solas also planted magic-collecting orbs around the battlefield. Sabotaging them would be Rook’s last option.

The ship was a great backdrop for the interpersonal conflict of the team. We enjoyed thinking about how to make it unique, like including the collection of curiosities seen above. We also liked including the idea that Isabela procured it for you, but as a fixer-upper. Nothing like a scrappy but lovable ship to call home.

Alcina Dimitrescu/Fem!Reader
Summary: One where it's a zombie apocalypse you get separated from your wife and daughters.
Warnings: none I think
WC: 4.1k
Author's Note: probably gonna write more for the beautiful tall lady again. A little bit of The last of us in here. Sorry for any mistakes :)
"Draga come back to bed." Your wife mumbled sleepily as you leaned down to kiss her on the head.
"Sorry baby. My sergeant called said it's an emergency. Something about a riot downtown. They need all hands on deck." At the mention of you being in potential danger your wife was wide awake. She sat up, seeing that you were already dressed up and ready to go in your police officer uniform. You had a apologetic smile as you looked down at her. It was supposed to be your day off. But in a situation like this. Every officer was called in.
"Be careful. Please call me when you get a chance. Even if it's a simple text." You could see the worry in her eyes.
"Of course I will. I love you and I'll be back before you know it. It's probably some of those dumb 'alpha males' at it again." You joked and leaned down kissing her on the lips.
"I love you too." She had gotten up to walk you out. Her sleep long forgotten. You had gently kissed your daughters on the head as they slept before leaving.
Alcina had watched you drive off with a knot in her throat. She had always hated when you were called away like this. She knew it was serious. If it weren't you wouldn't have been called. She had always worried about you when it came to your job.
She worked as a lawyer. She knew you didn't have to worry as much as she did. Did you worry? Of course you did. But just not on Alcina's level.
She walked back into the house after your truck was no longer in her eye sight.
*
"On news 10 today the riots have been growing down in the Los Angeles area. Riots have grown in other cities as well. San Francisco, San Diego, New York City, Chicago, Phoenix AZ, Philadelphia, Dallas TX, San Jose CA, Sacramento CA, Miami FL. We have not figured out the reason behind these riots but the state of California and local authorities are strongly advising to stay in your homes for your own safety, if you live in these areas."
Alcina had just turned on the tv after she had taken a shower seeing that it was no point trying to go back to sleep.
"Mom where's mama?" At the sound of her youngest daughter entering the living room she looked away from the tv to the red head. The ten year old was rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
"She was called into work sweetheart. Come here."
Daniela flopped on to her mother, cuddling up to the taller woman.
"But I thought it was her day off?"
"I know sweetie but there was something her sergeant had to talk to her about." Alcina held her daughter close to her as she looked back to the news reporter.
"We are going live to the riots in downtown Los Angeles with Maria Ascott. To you Maria."
"Thank you Jill. The riots here have made a turn for the worst. We had to get off the streets due to how violent the people were getting. LAPD have stopped using rubber bullets and gone straight to lethal force. Thing is that some of the people have become completely vicious. They are biting officers and even other people in the crowd. I can't believe what I'm seeing. They just won't stay dow-" The camera had turned at a loud explosion and more shooting.
"Mom? Is mama okay?"
Alcina wanted to be honest but she didn't know. Before she could make a move to call you. Her phone rang, a picture of you smiling at the camera lit up the phone. She quickly picked up the phone not even letting the phone ring for a second time.
"Draga are you okay?" She stood up from the couch, her concern growing as she heard the shouts and shooting from your side of the phone. She had put the phone on speaker phone when Daniela motioned her to put it on.
"Yes I'm fine Alci. I need you listen to me. Get the girls and the guns from my safe. Pack what ever we could need. Be quick. We need to get out of the city. Now. There's no time to explain. Get the girls. Now Alcina. I'll be there in about fifteen minutes." The line cut off before Alcina could respond.
"Daniela get you sisters and tell them to pack what ever we could need. Now darling."
They both moved quick around the house. Packing a bag of clothes with toiletries. Bela and Cassandra didn't know what was going on but did as what their mother said. Seeing how serious her mother and younger sister were being.
Alcina moved quickly packing her own bag and yours. With anything they'd need. She moved to pack a big duffel bag from your gun safe. You always had been one to have guns. It was something Alcina had hated cause of the kids but you had put them in a safe. Where only you and herself could access them. From hand guns to rifles and shotguns. She didn't know what to pack. But from what she saw on the news. She new it was serious. So she packed as much as she could with ammunition and guns. Leaving the gun safe empty.
"Babe!? Girls!?"
"Draga.." Alcina words got stuck in her mouth when she saw you uniform torn and and with blood. She cupped your cheeks as she looked you over.
"I'm okay but we have to go. We'll go to the family cabin. It's secluded enough. Donna and Angie are on their way there. Karl is there already with your mother and brother. Come on."
"Mama what's going on." Bela asked once Cassandra and herself put all their bags in the Escalade.
"I'll explain everything on the way to our cabin. Come on."
The family moved rapidly, leaving their home. Not knowing that It'd be last time they saw it as a whole.
*
You were one to always follow the rules. Seeing as you were a cop after all. You took pride in doing what you did. Putting bad guys behind bars. Helping your wife and her law firm putting bad people bad guys away for a long time. But you were also used to speeding down the streets. Running stop lights and stop signs. What you were not used to was having your family in the same car as you did those things. You knew the risks of driving fast down the roads. Anything could happen. But you knew. You knew that you had to get your family out of the city. After seeing the things you saw. It wasn't safe. You weren't even sure if the cabin was safe.
"Y/n tell me what's going on. Is this cause of that sickness going around?" Your wife spoke for the first time since getting in the car. She had been too distracted by the chaos happening outside of the vehicle.
"It's not just a sickness. Sergeant had a friend in the cdc, it's some type of virus, the scientist used the word fungus. A fungus that only effected ants-Cordyceps we learned about in school. You gotta be joking? How come it wasn't on the news?" Your daughter Cassandra spoke from the middle seat.
"The cdc tried to control it in Seattle. The government had locked down Seattle in a matter of minutes when the first signs of infection were shown in Seattle's Lake Hill hospital. It spread faster than they had hoped. Before they knew it had spread all through out Seattle. They couldn't contain it. They still don't know how it spread all through out the United States." You swerved out of the way of the two collided cars. Using the sidewalk to escape the lines of cars. Refusing to take your eyes off the road. You knew there were going to be road blocks put by the military. It was why you chose the back roads. The cabin was a good two days away. But with this amount of traffic it would probably take longer.
You thanked everything in you for getting the four wheel drive and for not living too in the city. So going off road was the best option you had.
"Mom?"
"We can't be seen by the military. Their orders are shoot to kill." It was why you hoping to avoid the road blocks and roads in general.
*
You were only a good day away from the cabin. It had been in the middle of the night the dirt road empty when a trucks lights suddenly turned on, catching you by surprise and blinding you momentarily. You had no time to react, the truck rammed into your side of the car pushing the truck forcefully towards the ledge. The force had caused you to hit the side of your head against the window. The screams of your girls had been muffled as the truck tipped and rolled down the slope.
Your ears ringed as you checked on alcina and the girls. The voices stilled muffled as you tried to ignore the pain of your side. You had to gather yourself and get your family away from who ever was driving that truck.
"Alcina come on get up. Girls?"
"We're okay mama."
"Mama you're bleeding." Cassandra's voice filled with concern, finally sounded clear.
"I'm okay baby. We go get out of the truck. Use the truck as cover. Do not peak from the sides. Bela get my gun bag, Dani baby get the bag with the med-kits and supplies we could need." You gently shook Alcina. Desperately trying to wake her up. The sound of her gasp, was only a moment of relief as you head a distant noise of shouting.
"Come on baby, are you okay?" You used your knife to cut her seat belt catching her before she could hit the ground.
"Oh draga, you're bleeding. Are the girls okay?"
"They're fine. Come on we have to go." You helped your family out of the vehicle, noticing the gas leaking from the tank. The sounds of shouting we're getting closer. You checked over Alcina seeing that she was okay other than scratches on her.
"Alcina listen to me. I'll draw them away from-No. We have to stick together." Alcina was quick to shut down the idea. But she saw the look in your eyes. Her eyes filled with tears as she heard the sounds of voices only getting closer.
You sighed, taking the gun you had trained her with. Making sure it was loaded. The girls had trained with you as well, they knew how to handle a gun. They knew gun safety. You handed the gun to Alcina. "You have to go, keep our girls safe. I'll see you soon. There's no time for arguments. You know as much as I do those people aren't going to think twice when they see us. I'll lead them away from you and our girls. And catch to you when it's safe. Now go."
The girls protested as well. But Alcina knew you were right. With tears in her eyes she took a step back as you pushed her towards the opposite direction. "Y/n."
"Do not stop till you get to the cabin. Do not hesitate when you pull that trigger." Your voice was strong but yet she heard how it wobbled. You kissed the girls head.
"Go, now."
As the shots you fired had the men stumbling for cover as your family disappeared into the dark woods. You stepped away from the truck as far as you could as the men grew closer shooting their own guns in your direction. Completely missing the four getting away. As they grew closer you shot your gun in the direction of the gas leaking the force of the explosion throwing you back against the tree. Rendering you unconscious.
*
(20 Years Later)
Alcina looked back at the little town. The walls they've built were slowly spreading. Slowly growing, all the town needed know was some electricity if they could ever get the damn power plant to work again. As she looked back down at the planes she had scattered in front of her, her wondered. After all these years her mind went back to that day.
How much she regretted leaving you. How her heart screamed at her to go back when she heard the explosion. But she pushed on. With the hope that you would be right behind them.
Her hopes had come crashing down when the day passed and they arrived at the cabin. Her family was there but you had not arrived. The girls cried as they waited for you but you never came. The day passed and she went back. Karl going with her. The burned bodies were fresh there had been a few a total of six. All too burned to be recognizable. But then she saw the gun. Your hand gun she knew it was yours. She picked up the gun seeing the familiar serial numbers. The gun was not far from the burnt body.
"Mom, we have some scouters out west saying something about a storm coming. We have to reinforce the wall on the west side just in case some infected wonder from the west." The voice of her eldest daughter brought her back to the present.
"It's already in order Bela. Have you had any updates on your sister?" Her eldest had grown into a being a strong and smart woman.
"Yes, Daniella and uncle Karl are making sure that the men working on the power plant are protected from the raiders and infected." Bela stood straight paying close attention to her mother. Ever since that day she knew her mother had not been the same. She her mother had tried to be strong for her and her sisters. But she saw the sadness in her mother. The sadness that refused to leave. She herself longed to see her mama again but it had been ten years now.
You were gone.
Died trying to keep them safe.
*
After all these years, you still looked for your family. The anger you had for yourself had been so immense. You remember that day like it had been yesterday. The errors of it all keeping you up at night. After you knocked out that day. You had woken up in cell room along with some others. It clearly didn't take long for humanity to fall. Those men weren't military just a gang looking for victims.
It had taken you and few others too long to break out of that camp. By the time you did it had been two months since you last saw your family. You remember the urgency to get to the cabin. It had taken you two days to get the cabin seeing that the FEDRA was only growing. You had to sneak, not risking being seen and shot.
Nothing could have prepared you for what you saw once you did arrive at the cabin.
The cabin empty, destroyed half of the cabin had clearly caught fire. No signs of life, you had almost given up then and there. If it weren't for the fact that Karl's over the top survival truck was missing. It was a truck that he had always kept on the property grounds. He had been a clear lunatic when it came to preparing for the apocalypse.
That truck was set to only function on one set of keys. No hot wiring or anything could start that truck.
But that had been ten years ago. Ten years of searching for your family. You didn't know where to look. They could be dead for all you know, but knowing Karl, he always had a plan for this type of things. You just hoped that he kept your family safe.
"Y/n? You okay?"
Your attention was brought back to the kid standing next to you. You weren't sure where the two of you were headed. You had found this kid roaming not far from the outside of the walls. And well you had finally gotten the chance to sneak out of the said walls controlled by FEDRA. From there you just took her under your wing. Refusing to leave a fourteen year old to wonder by herself. Especially since the fourteen year old reminded you so much of your youngest.
You had an idea on where to go, a rumor of a town that was safe and secure. There were a few places you could check out.
"Yeah I'm okay kiddo, come on Wyoming isn't that far." You had been on the road for a year now, you had to find a safe place, winter had just passed and it was a strong and cold one. It had been brutal, the injury on your side still ached. But what ached more was what Ellie went through. Those crazy fucking cannibals and that fucking pe-You felt guilty for getting hurt, for making the young girl take on the burden of having to take care of you.
"Can you tell me about your family, what were they like?"
You couldn't help the smile and slight relief that she was talking again. "Oh just know you'd get along with my daughters. Cassandra my middle child she's just as much of a smart ass as you. My youngest Dani god, she's just as much of a jokester. And eldest Bela, well she's much more like her mother. Smart, patient, kind, she was- she'e twenty know. All of them twenty." You were quick to wipe the tear away.
"Alcina my wife, well I met her when we were both in elementary school. Man I fell in love with her the moment she walked into Ms.Luthor's second grade glass. Although I didn't know what I felt in that moment. I was her first friend and we stuck together like glue from then on. We didn't start dating till junior year. Want to see a picture?"
The excitement in those green eyes was hard to miss. You dug into your backpack taking out the journal that had a ziploc bag. Inside the bag was a picture of your family.
"Damn, that's your wife and kids, man they got all their looks from your wife huh." Ellie joked a snort and gentle shove was what she got in return.
The laugh escaping your lips, she had a point. "Shut up, now how about we cut through that power plant. It looks abandoned." Ellie laughed as she followed you down the path way that was now covered with over grown grass.
Ellie asked after a moment of silence as you both moved across the river leading to the power plant. "Do you really think that we'll find a place to call home?"
"I have hope. Just gotta believe kiddo. Let's go through here." You moved to pull on the large door, for it now to move. You pulled harder on it until you heard a familiar click. Reaching quickly for your side gun.
"Stop! Tell the girl to drop it as well."
At the sound of a deep voice you looked up to see quite a few guns pointing down at you and Ellie.
You stepped back knowing you had no other choice. "Ellie do as the lady says." Moving a bit closer to stand in front of Ellie, your hands still raised up. Hoping that they wouldn't shoot you. "We didn't know the place was occupied. We're just trying to get through, we want no trouble."
It was a tense moment of silence.
"They're alright."
"You know them?"
The sound of the big door sliding open. "I know her. She's my god damn sister in law."
The gate opened, and your eyes widen at the sight of Daniella and Karl. But your eyes couldn't tear themselves from your youngest daughter who was now a grown woman. Her baby features long gone.
"Mama?" Her voice was the same but yet so different.
"Dani."
The force of her hug had almost taken you down. Her cry as she hugged you tightly, you hugged her just as tightly. You couldn't believe that Daniela, your youngest daughter was back in your arms. After so many years of thinking that you'd never see her again had finally come to an end.
"Mama we thought you were dead. We went back. Mom went back to check with uncle Karl. We should have never left you mama. I'm so sorry. We looked for you, everywhere. We never stopped. I'm sorry—Daniela stop. It's not your fault. It's no one's fault. Just—" the sound of gunshots cut you off, your actions were quick. A whole lot faster than Daniela had been prepared for. You had taken her and Ellie to cover. Your own gun out and already shooting.
"Mama I can help."
You knew she could, you had taken her to cover without really realizing. "Sorry Dani force of habit. Ellie stay down okay kiddo."
The place lit up with more gun fire, all you could think about was keeping your girls safe and the need to see your two eldest and wife again.
*
"Mom raiders attacked the power plant again. There's some dead and a few injured. Uncle Karl and Dani radioed in, they're fine. Heading back as we speak." Cassandra spoke so fast Alcina didn't even have a second to panic. She was quick to get on her feet. Heading straight towards the gate. Cassandra and Bela right behind her.
By the time they made it to the gate, the gates were opening and in came in some of the power plant workers. Some caring the injured and others limping into the town. Her eyes searched the group looking for her idiot brother and her daughter.
Fear gripping her heart when she didn't see her youngest daughter at the end of the final people coming in.
"We would have been dead if it weren't for that woman."
"Oh man she was a one shot kill. Don't want to get on her bad side."
"She seemed to know Daniela and Karl."
She over heard some of the power plant workers say as they walked by. It wasn't till she saw Karl walk through the gate talking with a short auburn haired girl. Her hands were moving all over the place as she explained something. Karl for once had a gentle smile on his face as he listened. Relief washed over her body when she saw her little girl, her steps faltering when her eyes landed on who was standing next to Daniela.
You.
Her wife.
The wife she had thought she lost.
The wife she mourned to this day.
Was alive. Obviously looking a bit older but yet still as beautiful as the last time she saw you.
"Mama?!" The two older sister yelled in surprise, but their voice wobbling as they chocked back a sob. Her two eldest daughters ran towards their other mother who looked at them with so much love and guilt. Yet you hugged them tightly. Her eyes finding yours was what finally got her legs moving in such a pace that she couldn't remember doing. The feeling she had in her chest at seeing you once again. The love she had for you had never faltered. It never went away. If anything the love she had for her wife had only grown. There was no one she loved as deeply as you.
"Draga,"
It was the voice that you had dreamed of hearing. Your girls, your grown daughters pulled away. Watery smiles as they watched their parents reunite.
Hugging the slightly taller woman. To have her back in your arms as her shoulders shook from the barely concealed sobs. To have her hugging you just as tightly. She lightly pulled away cupping your cheeks in her hands. "Oh my love—"
The kiss had been one they both thought they'd never have. For it was the thought they both had feared and refused to accept. But now they both flourished to be in each other's again. To have their family reunited once again. To have the love they both shared still growing.
To be together once again as the apocalypse continued.

Welp, I'm kinda back to request the guy again(y'know the RSA Silver anon). Tho you can call me as 🎵 anon. Thanks tho.
So I kinda have some little new idea pop in my head, I got the idea when I read some old scenarios. About Silver and Sebek, having a crush on Yuu. Then tries to fight over Yuu's attention. Just imagine they fight over Yuu and Yuu accidentally getting squish between their chest I mean check their PE uniform card, while they get too busy having a staring competition to notice Yuu got squish. Yuu intensely blushing, probably almost fainting
I hope you don't mind this.
silver and sebek fighting "over" yuu/reader ✧・゚
.
Name change initiated, tags updated.
Hello! I don't mind this! I like Silver and the rest of Diasomnia (though my personal bias is Malleus xD) And I hope I interpreted your idea well! My sincere apologies for taking a longer time to get this out, my health is not doing well at the moment.
Note to anyone looking to request that I currently have a very big request for all the first years in the works and it is taking me some time to complete. That said, requests will be slow to go out but are open, actually.
.
Summary: [Name] is swept up in an argument between Silver and Sebek Zigvolt during flight class. Were they always this built?
TW/CW: None
Notes: pre-relationship, the reader is described as smaller than Sebek/Silver, the reader is the Ramshackle Prefect/Yuu, they/them pronouns for the reader
Guest Stars: Grim, Malleus Draconia (mentioned)

Silver & Sebek Zigvolt
Silver did not plan to be in the argument in the first place.
He isn't a very confrontational personality to begin with.
That, and his father raised him better (or he says that).
And meanwhile, Sebek is just Sebek-ing, that's how it starts.
The argument doesn't begin with Malleus but it's sure about Malleus now and Silver kind of wants to punch Sebek.
Sebek throws the first punch and Silver is defending himself.
The two of them are airheads sometimes and forget they're in a joint class and there are people everywhere.
[Name] is smaller than the two of them and ends up caught between them but neither of them cares to notice.
[Full Name] you are about to experience being smooshed between two guys who have trained as guards since childhood.
Sebek is still more or less yelling.
Silver effectively politely conveys "Shut the fuck up."
[Name] and the other students are BAFFLED.
It seemed that it would be a while before this is resolved...
Silver is the one to point out this is a ... position.
Sebek gets offended that Silver is protecting [Name].
But why? WHAT IS THIS HUMAN DOING TO HIM?
Silver chooses to repress his feelings.
Trauma responses or something (Book 7 did things to me)
Then [Name] fainted and both boys began to p a n i c !!
"This is all your fault, Silver!"
"Sebek, be quiet."
Silver's expression might have seemed neutral to anyone in Vargas' PE class who was watching but Sebek recognized this type of expression from his childhood. Silver was glaring daggers at him from his group's area.
But! This was a fight and Sebek would win (for Malleus).
"HOW DARE YOU INSULT WAKA-SAMA?!??" Sebek roared, ignoring the class around him as all of his senses focused on that cat.
It would be good to note that while it was a "fight." it was a fight that Silver did not want to be in. How had it even begun? Silver wasn't sure. He was trying to talk to one of his classmates about something and then Sebek started yelling (really, who decided to let joint classes be with the first years?) and soon after, this had started.
"NYA! WHAT DID YOU SAY EYEBROWS?" Grim fired back at Sebek.
Raised by General Lilia Vanrouge, Silver has some quirks that others are quick to point out. He grew up in Briar Valley, after all. His "human skills" leave much to be desired. Still, Lilia instilled a sense of justice in Silver, and the knowledge that you should not say nasty things about others if they are your friends.
Silver sighed. This was why he decided to keep his thoughts on today's PE incident to himself. It would be better for everyone that way. But his emotions, the ones he tried to ignore, made things harder for him sometimes.
[Name] is being a bit daft, though. Why did they get involved?
As Sebek yelled at Grim, the cat jumped into his human half's arms and caused Sebek to, as he was trying to grab Grim, get much too close to the Prefect (for safety and for Silver to accept).
He sighed again as he took several steps over to the trio and attempted to intimidate Sebek away from [Name].
"Sebek, cease this at once. This is unbecoming," Silver told him, standing just behind the Prefect and staring Sebek down.
"Silver, stay out of this!" Sebek hissed at him, not realizing how close he was to the Prefect, "I need to finish this."
"Malleus-sama would not approve..." Silver continued slowly.
He took a step closer.
"I am doing this for his honor, that cat insulted him!!"
Sebek pushed closer and Silver couldn't mask his irritation. Sebek would not listen to Silver and the light-haired man knew this.
"Even if he did, you're much too close to [Name]," the second-year added.
As each boy moved closer, they had [Name] cornered.
"Are you insinuating that you have some kind of claim over this human?" Sebek asked, nearly scoffing as if insulted by the concept.
"No, I am saying you're too close to them. Be polite."
"Silver, you speak and act so boldly for someone taken in off the streets," Sebek told him, bringing up a longstanding issue between them.
He had to ignore this. It wasn't supposed to be something shared with others, that he was taken in by Lilia, that Lilia was his father.
"This isn't about that. You're being rude."
Silver had never wanted to punch Sebek more than he did at this moment.
Smushed between the two guards, [Name] held Grim close to their chest. They could spell the faint scent of flowers from Silver whereas Sebek smelled like tea. They were able to see now, up close and personally, that Malleus' guards were strong, built young men, not as lean as some of the other students at Night Raven.
A few moments passed as Silver and Sebek attempted to stare each other down, other students beginning to watch the interaction, waiting for a fight to break out. It was a miracle that Vargas did not notice the commotion but he was busy telling some poor student about his great and important very heroic deeds.
"... Grim, I think I am going to die," [Name] whispered to the cat.
Startled, Grim looked up at them with such a sudden motion he jostled their spot between Silver and Sebek slightly.
"Nya?? Don't die, [Name]!!"
But the Prefect could not hear them anymore, they were dead to the world for the foreseeable future. With a bright red face, they looked somewhere between embarrassed and feverish.
"Oh no. [Name], are you okay?"
Silver moved away from Sebek as the green-haired boy did the same. Sebek noticed the state of the Ramshackle Prefect instantly.
"AAH! THE HUMAN NEEDS MEDICAL ATTENTION!!" Sebek shouted
For a moment, Silver wished that Sebek had a volume button he could (politely) turn down. It would save everyone a lot of grief.
All of this attracted the attention of Vargas who shipped around and sprinted over to them, forgetting his discussion of heroism with that poor, poor unsuspecting student.
"Don't yell," Silver told Sebek as he noticed Vargas speeding in their direction, his voice sounding like a whisper in comparison to Sebek's yells.
"HAH? This is all your fault, Silver!"
"Sebek. I said... Quiet down."
Today would be a long day for everyone...
.
Imagine the rest for yourself~

Fortunately, Wade has re-died multiple times already before they found the girls, He found out because some other group of scared humans shot him. Wade, like an idiot, had tried to be friendly and was attempting to bring them a can of corn but honestly his friendly demenure scares other people WAY more then regular zombies because its the idea that Wade is SENTIENT. He can "talk" "feel" and has emotions.
He understands when you tell him things and while sometimes he dosn't make the best choices he is still very human like. This is the part that scares Logan and most others.
Zombies aren't conscious. They dont have prefered foods and like hugs. They couldn't figure out simple puzzles like if one door is locked to go around to the back door or how to properly use stairs and simple slide locks. They didn't ask their daughters about their day and play catch with them. They didn't sit at the table and whimper for their non zombie husband to feed them. They are just hosts to the virus.
But if anything, the virus is a new host to Wade's cancer, making him even more disgusting from the fact his flesh is literally falling off, but he can't die from the virus. His brain is much stronger then theirs and because of this- The idea of a person like wade, whos clever enough to put his hands up and drop to his knees when he sees other people now, going around eating people, possibly fooling them into false trust.
You're right, though. Wade is so SO proud of his girls and even more proud of Laura for forcibly having to mature quick enough to protect Gabby and handle her mentally as well as physically being able to provide for her.
Once or twice, Wade has found Laura crying from the stress of her father being gone and having to watch both Wade and gabby. Everything in her logic side of her mind was screaming at her to get away from him, but his arms were out, and his parental eyes got her to cling to him, hugging him tightly as she sobbed into him. The type of hug where she loses control of her claws and ends up stabbing him the same way her father does after a nightmare.
"Ooh!! Are we allowed hugs today?"
Only for Laura to scream at her to stop, to get back. She's a mess, ugly crying and tears running down her face faster then she can clean them.
Gabby jumps, tilting her head in soft shock before crossing her arms. "I'm telling dad that you're hogging papa!"
She runs off and laura turns to look at Wade, whos softly snickering. They laugh and deep down are glad that Gabs is so innocent still. To her, Laura didn't want her to steal her papa time but in reality she's still scared of gabby being bit despite physically in his arms.
And yes, Logan IS selfishly glad to know that if Wade ever truly does go feral, that it will most likely be Laura to do the job. She isn't hesitant. He taught her not to. And sometimes she's far too well trained. Being so young (COUGH and materal rage/ hormones COUGH) she is far too trigger happy but in truth guns won't do anything for wade.
Logan has learned that the only chance they had was decapitating him and burying his head miles away from his body. Yeah, his body will just regrow or his head will just reform but it will take about 12 hours which is plenty time for Logan to take the girls and book it to where ever else they could go.
Would it absolutely DESTROY his heart to abandon wade like this and leave most of their supplies? Yes. But he knows wade would never forgive himself if he turned one of the girls. Never in a million years.
This was far proven when gabby wandered too far from the cabin and wade tackled another zombie meer seconds before gabby was bit.
Imagine being a 13 year old girl watching your papa go APE SHIT on a fellow zombie, ripping him apart, dismembering him, throwing his organs as far as he could, shaking their leg around like a street dog does to a turkey leg.
And when he realizes, he stops and just stares at Gabs, covered in blood and ooze, blinking, hoping she wouldn't be scared only to smile widely and say "Wwwooah... That's so cool!! Ah man that guy STINKS!! Now you need a bath!"
Only for Wade to realize that Gabs is conditioned to such brutal murder as long as she doesn't have a connection. She was devastated to hear about puppins and has asked Logan multiple times if they could go find her and keep her.
"No honey, she bit wade almost instantly."
"But shes just a scared puppy! Shes probably hungry!"
"Sigh... gabs I already have too many mouths to feed. Please.. I just... we can't. I need to make sure you're fed. Not a dog..."
"But shes-"
And by now, Logans upset. "I said NO! Now that's enough. I would If we could, alright? Now please...go play."
Because that day he not only did he loose his dog. He lost part of his husband too..
I dont CARE that it's November 9th and "Halloweens over" ITS MY BIRTHDAY MONTH ILL POST IF I WANT TOO
Anyway.
Thinking about apocolpse au.
Wade getting bitten by a zombie, Logan freaking out, Wade dying, and him coming back (Again)
"Didn't you just die?? I literally fucking burried you!!"
And wades like:
"Of course. Man, God REALLY hates you dosn't he?"
And he's bassically the same person except just saying, "Rahhah har ran re" (translation: I think the devil doesn't want me either)
"What?? Oh for fucks sake... tell me you're kidding.."
"Rah?" 🤔
"Great so now you stink more and you can't talk. Fucking lovely."
"Mmmmh..." 🥺 (would you still love me if I was a zombie?)
"*sighs, blushes and grumbles how insane this is and how much of a bad idea this is* Fine! Come on...."
"Raah!!" 😄
And sometimes his limbs fall off because I think it would be funny if you just saw him stop, turn around, pick up his arm and shove it back into place like a dislocated shoulder. (Marvel Magic)
But its very obvious that Wade is still consious and so logan leads him around, puts a leash on him, ties him up when he goes to sleep the first few nights so wade dosn't eat him, sometimes luring him with a piece of his thigh or telling him he'll feed him soon to make him behave.
The only thing about this resource wise is that it seems Wade is a bottomless pit, not ever able to get enough. It's like all the nutrients just pass right through him, so he can't get fed meals daily, but Logan will share at least one bite of his food. It makes Wade so happy and way more "wade like" than zombie.
Logan has learned that the hungrier Wade gets the worse it would be, snapping at logan a few times.
"Grr-"
"Aye! That's enough outta ya"
"GggRah!"
"Hey!! I said no! Bad! Bad wade!"
"Mmmh??"
"Bad!!"
"Mmh....rahah.."
"I forgive you. But stop trying to bite me. I feed you, don't I? I hold your hand and tell you that I love you?"
Wade is actually extremely friendly for a zombie (duh) and still yaps at logan except its nonsense. Logan tries hard to understand him and talk back.
He holds his hand sometimes, even lays next to him only to scold him if he gets too bitey. This is hard because wade already had a biting issue and seeing as he practically ate anything or anybody now it was more difficult.
"...aahh-"
"Wade- No."
"Ggr.. raahh"
"Wade! No! Bad."
"Mmmh..."
"Ill feed you tomarrow. Don't bite me mkay? You wanna hurt me?"
He shakes his head like a dog shaking off from a bath, or that ate a bee.
"Then don't bite me."
"Mmh? Mrah?"
"No. No kisses right now. Im still not even sure if thats safe.."
"Mmmh...🥺 ahrrah?"
"No, not even a tiny one."
"Mm...😔"
Until Logan grunts and pecks his hand. "There. Happy?"
"🙂↕️mh"
"Good."
Honestly Logan felt bad, pitited him. No matter what food he ate it wasnt enough substance to sustain him and sometimes Logan would wake up to find him eating a different zombie that made the mistake of trying to eat Logan.
You ever wake up in the morning, lose your zombie boyfriend, call for him only to walk outside and see him knawing on some poor chaps arm like a happy puppy who found a chicken leg? Logan has. Many times. And he wishes his phone would charge so he could take a picture of it but unfortunately theres no electricity in the post apocalypse world.
This being said Logan is like- THE perfect guy for apocalypse au because he can smell everything and hear anyone before they even get to you, he has better wilderness survival skills then anyone I know and he'll never NOT have a weapon on him because of his claws. The only downside is that he's tired easily, needs a lot of food, and would lowkey be withdrawing from his tabccao and alchool, therefore very moody.
"Stupid fucking apocalypse having to happen when im fucking alive!! Why can't I just NOT live through ONE major historical event! Is that too fucking much to ask? One damn decade where everything is fine and dandy and- WADE! Get your ass away from that!! It's radioactive!! For fucks sake!"
"Rahahrah?"
"NO!! You can not become Spiderman! That's not how that works!"
"Aawr..😔"
The whole thing is they're on a quest to find Laura and Gabby, because when everything went to shit, they were on a cabin trip and now Logans brain is itching because he dosn't know where his babies are and its driving him insane. Once he finds them, they're gonna shack up somewhere with food and animals to hunt, and hes gonna make a little shed outside for Wade to sleep because he'll kill him if he bites one of the girls.
He dosnt care that much about himself really and he hates himself deep down for not being able to trust wade anymore but even wade dosnt trust wade, sometimes wandering off on purpose, staying about 30 feet away from him at all times, growling and giving Logan that glazed over look of unconsiousness. The only good thing about this, though, is after he removes himself from the idea of hurting Logan (because if logaj were to become infected - HA! Your all fucked. Utterly fucked. The whole humanoid species would go extinct because he'd kill anything that moved) he feels more trusting of him and it's not uncommon for them to hug after either. Afterall Wade- Some how???- is still wade and is very affectionate and sensitive when its not returned.
This whole thing also makes him think worse about himself, kicking reflective objects or staring at himself in a shop window in utter shock and disgust with a face of 'thats me..?' While logans raiding the place for supplies.
Did you know zombies can cry? Well, Wade could. Not a lot, only able to get a bit of liquid from dehydration, but sometimes Logan will catch him just... sitting there.. crying. Upset with himself for being bit. Upset with himself for trying to bite logan all the time. Upset at how ugly he is. Upset that he's starving all the time. Upset that he can't even talk to anyone, and Logan just has to guess what he's saying 90% of the time. Bro is literally
When they DO find Laura and Gabby, the girls are doing great. Laura was going to blow wades head off until Gabby ran in the shot, hugging him instantly, only to be ripped away.
"Of course my dad is the weirdo married to a zombie." Laura grunts, but is secrelty happy that wade is still 'alive'
Gabby, being as young as she is, thinks it's so SICK that her dad is a zombie now, giggling when he talks to her and holding his hand. She's not allowed near him for long, and not at all by herself, but Gabby bassically becomes Wades number one supporter, defending him when he messes up and snaps at laura.
"He's just hungry!! He's not bad! It's not bad to be hungry!" She'll say. "You wouldn't kill me if I was hungry.." she tells her bigger, more survival oriented sister whos suggested putting wade out of his misery, for his own sake. "I tried that... he found me again 3 days later." Logan tells her with a pang in his chest. It had taken everything in him to kill him the first time, and sobbed himself to sleep the next 2 days. By the third when he noticed Wade following him from a distance he couldn't believe it.
Not even the apocalypse could keep them away from each other..

birthday
pairing: bang chan x gn!reader w. 1.4k genre: fluff summary: spending your birthday with your boyfriend, chan a/n: written for my best friend <3 happy birthday
Birthdays with Chan were something you looked forward to every year.
He had always been the ultimate gift giving boyfriend. It could be a random day and he'd come home with brand new headphones for you. The week surrounding your birthday was a time filled with small (and large) gifts.
The day itself had pretty big shows of affection, although he preferred not to do everything in one day. He valued you feeling appreciated, so he stretched out all of his gifts over the course of your birthday week. A few days before and a few days after would come with presents and treats.
On the morning of your birthday, you woke up in bed to a pleasant smell. He'd let you sleep in and even gotten up early, just finishing up breakfast as you sat up in bed. When you'd finally convinced yourself to get out of bed, he waltzed into the room with your favorite breakfast dish and a little side drink.
Next to the food would be a handwritten love letter, and he'd give you a kiss on your forehead as he delivered it. As much as he wanted to stay with you while you ate, he had to run and finish up making sure the apartment looked spotless.
Once you had finally finished, he swept the dishes away and had them all cleaned before your morning routine was even done. The last thing he wanted was for you to think of household chores on your big day.
The morning was slow after that. He sat out with you on the couch, cuddled up in a big warm blanket and watching shows. He didn't want to rush you into the day.
As early afternoon peeked through, and Chan asked if you felt comfortable going out. He'd planned a shopping and lunch date, telling you he was going to change for the occasion.
When he walked out in a casual outfit, he grinned. He revealed it was just the second outfit of too many for his preference, but he wanted the mood to be set for every occasion. Once you got into an outfit you liked, he took you by the hand and walked you down to his car.
The drive was nice, Chan putting on your favorite music to listen to. He even sang along, giving you a small concert. You made him promise he'd sing more for you before the day was over, and he conceded.
When you arrived at the shopping district, he gave you a big grin and asked if there was any places you wanted to go. He had no problem with choosing, but he wanted to make sure any shopping you wanted to do would get done.
The first two stores he took you to were very nice. You were mostly browsing, not often picking out things you liked. He made sure to let you know there was no spending limit, that he'd cover everything you wanted to get. It still felt awkward to spend his money, but he reassured you it didn't matter to him how crazy you went.
Caving to his wishes, you picked out a few things you'd otherwise never grab. They were items that you'd thought about getting but there was no reason to buy them over something else you really wanted.
In the next store, you'd found a rack of necklaces with initials on them. Looking over to Chan, who was browsing some rings, you smiled. You grabbed one of your own initial and one of his, bringing them over to him. He smiled when you approached, looking confused as you wordlessly put the necklace boxes in his hand.
He opened them and it looked like he could have melted into the floor. He smiled wide, his dimples deep into his cheeks as he looked at you in disbelief. "They're perfect," He said.
He was quick to check out, buying them and immediately putting on the necklace with you initial. You followed his lead, unable to contain your smiles when he told you that he'd never take it off. You had no plans on removing his, either.
From the shops, he found a lunch spot nearby he planned a reservation to. He held your hand tight as you walked down the street together, swinging your arms together with a newfound pep in his step.
As you got to the place and were seated, he was still beaming. You laughed and asked him, "What's got you grinning so big?"
"You!" He cheered, "I don't think I've ever been happier spending time with someone, you know. There's no place I'd rather be."
Lunch was pleasant, Chan making sure you enjoyed your meal. He got a double order of your favorite side just to make sure there was enough. Any leftovers he happily boxed up and brought with him for later, wanting to make sure you got all of the food you wanted.
You got back home to wind down after the time out, Chan insisting on going through everything you bought. Any decorations got put up, all of the clothes got tried on again and put into outfits. Most of all, he made sure his brand new necklace was being shown off. You even caught him secretly taking pictures of it.
He then booted up a game to play with you, letting you pick whatever you wanted. He wasn't big on games that required him to be competitive like FPS, but he would try if it's what you asked.
It was a fun way to pass the time, gaming alongside and against your boyfriend. Even better was seeing how colorful his language got when he was frustrated. He embraced his Aussie roots, saying all sorts of obscenities when he died in game.
It had gotten to a point where Chan had to take a break from the game to cool off, and you decided to call it for the day. You cheered him up by taking Berry out for a short walk around the neighborhood, which seemed to put him in a better mood. He was a simple man: his dog could make any day better.
As afternoon turned into evening, he left the apartment and told you to hang tight as he picked up a few things. You hung out with the dog for a while longer, turning on a show in the meantime.
He came back with grocery bags and a smile on his face. "I'm going to get to work in the kitchen, I will be back!"
You gave him a thumbs-up and he scuttled away with a small giggle. He definitely had something planned, you were just there to see it happen. More time on the couch with Berry and watching a show was always accepted.
After a while, you smelled something delicious being cooked. The anticipation of good food had you antsy, but you waited as patiently as you could.
Chan eventually appeared from the kitchen and peaked his head out. "The dress code for this event is formal, if you want. Totally optional."
Before you could say anything, he disappeared back. Shrugging and bored, you went to your room and switched into something black and formal that you had put away for events.
When you walked back out, you were met with a very formal looking Chan. White shirt, tie, vest, and black dress pants. The sleeves on his shirt were rolled up, a touch that didn't go unnoticed. He gave you a smile, reaching his hand out to take yours.
He took you to the dining table, sitting you down. He brought out a vase of flowers, followed by plates of food he'd just been cooking. It was one of your favorite dishes, cooked by hand at home.
If there was a gesture that made you want to get down on one knee, that was it.
Unfortunately, you didn't have a ring on hand. You sufficed by eating every last bit of the food he made. You knew well that he would have plenty more in store for you that week, but this took the cake. A day full of him treating you. What could be better?
Well, you'd just have to find out.
He was too worried to do it on the actual big day itself, but he had something planned for later. A date night that brought you to the place you met. Maybe you didn't have to worry about having a ring on hand.
He had one waiting for you.

If Odysseus was luckily bestowed demigod status after he died
And knowing he could easily take on Poseidon, Odysseus took the time to mess with him even more. After all, he was related to Hermes, the god of mischief. No one stopped Odysseus because he was kind of warranted this after the insanity he went through to get home.
Poseidon, Hades, Ares, Odysseus, Zeus, and Hera were having brunch together. Hera brought over another stack of pancakes for the group.
Hera: Ody, enjoy the brunch, but is Penelope not joining us today?
Odysseus: She's exhausted from last night, but she does love your cooking.
Hera: And I love her and you because you're a good man who doesn’t cheat on his wife.
Hera glared at Zeus before sitting down next to him.
Poseidon (scoffing): You act like he’s a hero.
Zeus: Not this again.
Odysseus: Let him whine again; he's still hurt that I wounded him with his own weapon.
Odysseus smirked, relishing the chaos he was stirring.
Poseidon (frustrated): At night, I can still feel the trident in my chest, puncturing my organs.
Odysseus (mocking tone): Oh boo freaking hoo. I made more use of it than you ever did, fucking idiot.
Poseidon (defensive): Hey, I’ve done serious damage to mortals, taken down fleets, made men fear me, and used the water as my body to do all of that! I am tough as steel! One human man was never an issue to me!
Odysseus (smirking): All I remember is you begging me to stop while I stabbed you with your own weapon. Then you thought you won our battle by making me a monster like you. I wanted to get home, you got upset because I didn't kill the son that from my new knowledge you never visited. Whatever makes you happy though.
Poseidon: You've heard legends about my strength and power!
Odysseus (after finishing his tea): Then I saw that you are powerful and have small penis energy and had to one up a human man. You know, like bitches do.
Poseidon (angry): I could dropkick your ass right now I don't care if other people are here! I don't give a fuck!
Odysseus (grinning): I can definitely beat your ass now as well. Want to test that theory?
Ares (intervening, amused): Uncle Poseidon, stop before he uses someone else's godly weapon on you.
Odysseus (snickering): You think he'd cry this time?
Poseidon (shouting): Okay, why is he here?!
Ares (nonchalant): Hey, leave my great-nephew alone. I invited him over for brunch.
Poseidon (exasperated): He’s not welcome here! I want him out of this brunch now!
Ares took a quick sip from his tea cup then placed it back down on the saucer. He was a God of War, but not lacking in good taste when it came to tea.
Ares (maintaining his composure): Those who want him to stay, raise your hands.
Ares, Hades, Zeus, and even Hera raised their hands causing Poseidon to shake with rage as the tides outside matched his enraged energy.
Ares (with a satisfied grin): You've been outvoted, unc. Sit down and eat your pancakes. You can fight him afterwards.
Odysseus chuckled, snatching a pancake off Poseidon's plate. The God of the Tides stood up and stomped out of the room in frustration.
Poseidon: I will be waiting outside!
With that, he left in a huff, the rage causing the tides outside to churn wildly for a few moments.
Odysseus (chuckling, mischievous): I'm glad that you welcomed me and my family to Olympus. This has been a fun time so far.
Zeus (pleased): Yeah, we all enjoy your company, and it's only been a year so far.
Hades (with a bemused expression): Honestly, anyone who makes either of my brothers this mad is always hilarious to me. Poseidon has a serious grudge against you, and it's been a long time since that last happened.
Zeus (shaking his head, incredulous): I can't imagine being that petty and holding a grudge for so long.
Ares (rolling his eyes): Dad, even I know that's a lie.

In the moments preceding his death, Eddie thought of Dustin and how his death was sure to leave a mark on the town. Not in any history making way. Just that his tombstone was sure to be vandalized and the parents of Hawkins would use him as a cautionary tale to the impressionable youth.
"You don't want to end up like the Munson boy."
It was why he told Dustin to look after the rest. The freaks of the town needed to know there were others like them.
But as the world got dark, Eddie's thoughts turned to what he was leaving behind. Regrets and business left unfinished. And the one that came up most was Steve. In Steve's freshman year, Eddie had seen him, nose deep in a mystery novel in a corner of the library. He should have approached him then.
He remembered how pitiful Steve looked when he thought no one was watching. But all eyes had been on him when the news of his break up with Nancy spread. Eddie had wanted back then to be brave and confess. But all he could do was offer Harrington free weed. He thought about how things had gotten serious and yet he still never pushed for a label on what they had.
Even when Steve turned up at the trailer, face busted and talking nonsense about the mall that he couldn't follow. Eddie should have asked. He should have pressed for more information. Even if they hadn't put a label on it, they were more than just fuck buddies. They had plans for this spring break.
Then it all went to shit in the blink of an eye. Eddie had said it just the one time. When he and Steve were able to steal a moment to themselves, claiming they needed a smoke. Buckley rolled her eyes and he couldn't tell if it had been her personal disgust for smoking or if she knew somehow what was going on between them. Of course, it was just an excuse to make out in the woods before heading into battle. And there Eddie had said what he should have called Steve a thousand times before that day - boyfriend.
Honestly, it was more than that. He could so easily envision a future with Steve. One where they both got what they wanted. Eddie had never admitted it to himself, but he did want a family. Spouse, kids, the whole shebang. He just hadn't known how feasible it could have been, given his orientation. But god, if there was any way that he could have given Steve the litter of kids he wanted, he would have.
Eddie's thoughts got quiet for once. And that must be what death was. Silence.
---------------------------
The clean up crew had intended on retrieving the body of one Eddie Munson. But when they made the trek into the Upside Down, they didn't find a corpse. After double checking that they were in the right location, they spotted an odd structure. About the size of a couch and seemingly rooted into the ground was an egg. Vines were wrapped all around it and it appeared to pulse with life.
It was discussed if they should bring it topside for better surveillance. But they decided against it. Better to leave it here for the ideal conditions of growth. And if something did come out, better that it was born there instead of in Hawkins.
The team worked quick, collecting what little samples they could and setting up a camera before leaving and making their exit before the gate closed completely. The physical connection was closed, but they were still able to monitor the egg. And so they did, day and night.
It took about a month for any sort of visible progress. And it was an explosion at that. At approximately six in the morning, cracks formed and the fleshy cocoon fell to pieces. With a roar, a creature emerged. It was humanoid in appearance and yet very much not human. After crawling out of their cocoon, they surveyed their surroundings.
"Can we get in closer?", Owens asked, leaning in close to the screen.
Their camera zoomed in, getting a better look at the creature. It certainly had the blueprints of a human, but then again, so did other creatures of this realm. It stretched and a long, seemingly prehensile tailed stretched out from behind. Wings unfurled and they appeared long enough carry it in flight. But instead of rising to the sky, the creature simply crawled around on all fours, sniffing at the ground.
What looked like a curious exploration began to shift. It got more and more agitated and started to pace around with aggression. Owens didn't know if he should be grateful the gates were closed or not. There was still that part of him that yearned to learn, discover, and experiment. And just like the mythical monkey's paw, he got his wish.
The creature started to run. It ran to the edge of the distorted trailer park and then let out an earth shaking screech. By its command, a portal opened and the creature ran through. Wasting no time, Owens called an extraction team. It was more than likely coming topside.
------------------
Mate. Mate. Mate. Mate. Mate not here. Mate somewhere else. Need to find. Need to find.
The jump brought him from the darkness to the sunrise and he took a moment to adjust. It was much warmer here too.
Warm. Warmth. Spring. Spring then summer. Need to mate now. Mate before cold. Before fall. Find mate. Find him now.
He stayed among the trees, following his instincts and along the way, more memories came to him. Memories of an abode. Where his mate lived. Where he could find him. Where he would find him. His pace got faster when he realized how close he was. He could practically hear his love's heart, beating in tune with his own. He could feel his mate's skin under his hands. His claws dug into the walls, climbing up and up and up when-
Steve jolted up from his bed. He'd heard something climbing up the walls, a howl of pain, and then something falling to the ground outside. Steve grabbed his bat and ran downstairs, the grogginess from sleep slipping away as he went into red alert mode. By the time he got outside, the only danger he saw was a bunch of lab guys, armed to the teeth it looked like.
"Don't be alarmed Mr. Harrington", one of them said, a mask covering his entire face. "Just a stray crawler. But we took care of 'em."
Random faceless guys knowing his name and showing up at his house was still taking some getting used to. There was about a dozen of them in his backyard now and Steve didn't know if that was just incompetence or if something more was afoot. When they cleared out, he could hear a vehicle drive off. Something heavy duty. And when he turned around to go back inside, he could see the claw marks heading up to his window.
He wasn't aware of his boyfriend, snarling in a military transport as it drove further and further away. But he knew that as usual, they were hiding something.

quick valgrace drabble bc jason deserves to be a dramatic bf (as a treat!)
“Leo,” a familiar voice whined from behind Leo.
Leo fought off a smile as he turned his head from his blueprints on his desk to look over at his boyfriend.
Leo often compared his boyfriend – Jason Grace – to a dog. He thought this was a very accurate comparison. However, there wasn’t just one dog breed that could fully capture what Jason was like. Like an onion, Jason had layers.
There were moments when Jason was like a wolf. This made a lot of sense since he was raised by Lupa when he was young. This was a side of him that most people saw.
There were moments when Jason was like a golden retriever. Only Leo and his closest friends got to see this side of him. Leo knew how much of an affectionate dork his boyfriend was, but he was surprised by how much he truly was like a golden retriever once they started dating. He would cling to Leo, follow him around, and would beam whenever he saw Leo enter a room.
Then, there were moments like this that only Leo saw. There were moments when Jason let himself be a silly teenage boy. There were moments when Jason displayed dramaticness that could rival that of a husky.
“What’s up, bro?” Leo asked. He observed Jason’s face with a smile, knowing precisely how he’d react to his boyfriend calling him ‘bro’ as a pet name.
Jason reacted exactly as he always did. He let out a small huff as his nose scrunched up. Leo suppressed a laugh at it. Jason decided to set that aside and let out a long, dramatic sigh. He truly matched the energy that dogs had when they sighed as if they just worked a 9-5.
“Leo, come to bed,” Jason whined, reaching out an arm toward Leo.
Leo shifted so he was sitting sideways in his chair and rested his arms over the back of it. Leo rarely got to see dramatic Jason Grace so he’d take his time to relish in it and tease him. “Can’t it wait? I’m very busy right now.”
Jason scowled, a pout threatening to form on his very kissable lips. “I’m your boyfriend. I’m the most important thing in your life, so I should come first.”
Leo couldn’t help the laugh that bubbled out of his throat at that. He knew that Jason tended to doubt himself and his importance to his friends and lover, so he was glad he could bring it up in moments like these, even if it was to be dramatic and clingy.
“Well, you’re right about that,” Leo said with a teasing lilt in voice. “But you’re always telling me I need to focus on my work more. Now you’re trying to get me to stop because of what you want? You’re a horrible influence, Grace.”
“That doesn’t apply now,” Jason replied with a small huff. “You’ve been working for so long,” it’s been ten minutes, “and I want to cuddle with my boyfriend. You can stop working for a cuddle break. Besides, this is more important and urgent. If you don’t cuddle with me, I will shrivel up and die. Do you want me to die, Valdez?”
“You’ll die?” Leo asked with a laugh. He reached over to his desk to set his pencil down. “I don’t think that’s scientifically possible.”
“It is,” Jason replied huffily. “It’s been medically proven that if you don’t cuddle with your boyfriend when he’s in desperate need of cuddles, then he will die. You can ask Will, he will say I’m right. You have to give me my medically required cuddles before I die.”
It was crazy how a seventeen-year-old boy who was over six feet tall, muscular, and once beat a titan with his bare hands could look so cute. When he saw Jason like this, he felt a thrill of pride and possessiveness that only he got to see him like this. He was the only one who experienced his playful, dramatic side and got to witness the slight pout on his lips or the way he whined for attention.
With a small chuckle, Leo finally stood up and walked over to the bed. “Of course, 'cause Will would never lie about that. Well, I guess I’ll cuddle with you to heal you. It’d be so inconvenient to have to get a new boyfriend. I’m far too lazy for that.”
Jason seemed too happy at the prospect of cuddles to be annoyed by Leo’s comment. He held up the blanket enough for Leo to climb over the covers with him. Leo did just that. Once he was close, Jason wrapped his arms around him and pulled him close.
“I love you,” Jason told him, nothing but pure affection and adoration in his voice.
”I know,” Leo replied, laughing and amusement in his voice.
Jason pouted. Leo couldn’t have that so he leaned in, kissing him. They had a lot of kisses over their relationship, but these were Leo’s favorites. It was sweet, slow, and full of all the love they had for each other. Leo made sure he showed through the kiss just how much he loved Jason, how much he meant to him.
When he pulled away, he cupped Jason’s cheeks, looking into those beautiful blue eyes. “I love you too.” Even if he showed Jason how much he loved him, he liked to be an overachiever at times. He wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to both show and tell Jason that he loved him.
Leo was terrible at remembering things. Thanks to his ADHD, he had both a terrible attention span and an awful memory. He could meet someone new and forget their name within five minutes. He could remember something insignificant like what types were strong against others in Pokemon but forget the date of an upcoming important exam. Leo’s memory was shit.
However, he knew he’d remember the smile that Jason gave him for the rest of his life.

to start, you have been close friends with jake for a long time, and thru him you met tara and johnny before meeting the triplets
jake pretty much always has you in his videos, so much so whenever you aren't in a video the fans have started to request for your presence on videos that don't have you in them
you're not all that active on social media, only posting random covers of your favorite songs on your youtube channel and random tiktoks
in jake's videos you are always making him laugh, and out of the two you're more calm with a dry sense of humor
'...do you like it?"
"yeah because me immediately spitting it out and chugging my drink after eating it obviously shows how much i love this fucking candy"
OR
"hey jake did you want to get dinner tonight-"
"..."
"why the fuck is johnny in a baby costume."
in tara's videos you and her literally talk for HOURS and the way tara could make four separate videos from one recorded hang out is ridiculous
with Carrington the two of you easily match each other's energy, always giggling in the back of videos
you've also done singing collabs with jake and johnny! there are a couple of songs that just have your background vocals and then others with actual verses
you haven't released any songs though due to stress and anxiety, feeling too pressured to write the
"perfect" song so you settle with being a feature
besides that you really just mind your business with college, your job, and hanging out with friends
tara was actually the one who introduced you to nick
and through nick….you met matt
.・。.・✭・.・✫・゜・。.
matt who was excited to meet nick’s new friend who he was talking abt nonstop
“hey guys! yn is here!”
nick swings the door wide open, smiling widely as he stomps in the house. you follow in quickly, nervous to meet nick’s brothers. your friendship with nick came naturally, having many things to connect with. that being said, you weren’t sure if you could create a relationship with his brothers as easily as you did with him.
fiddling with your clothes you wave politely at the boys, surprised to see both of them walk up to you and hug you. granted it was swift hugs, but it immediately created a softer environment, causing you to relax immensely.
matt who immediately noticed how you looked uncomfortable and took the first step to hug you
“i like your outfit,” matt said after chris broke away from you. he gave you a small smile, making you smile in return. before you could respond however, chris started talking to the group.
nick had already decided on having dinner at home, so you settled in leaning on the kitchen island watching nick and chris argue over what to make for dinner. matt walks over to you, putting his hands in his pockets.
“don’t worry i could never replace you guys,” you tease, when you see him across from you. he giggles in reaponse, his eyes never leaving your face.
“cool tattoos,” he points out which surprised you. looking down at your arm, you smiled admiring the work you’ve gotten done over the years.
“thank you! you also have some gnarly tats.”
matt smiled at you, flexing his arm a little bit to show off his whole sleeve.
“is that the only place you have tattoos?” you question, suddenly curious about his body art. matt nodded, then looked at you with a small smile.
“does that mean you have more?” the question made you laugh because he seemed almost shy asking you, so when you nodded enthusiastically and started to give him a quick tour all over your body. lifting your shirt up was funny for you, because you could tell matt wanted to be thoughtful and not look but when you reassured him he hesitated at first but eventually awed at them. his reactions were so lively, making you appreciate how focused and compassionate. he praised you for your own ideas and for the tattoos that meant something, and still thought your random and silly tattoos were interesting.
after you finished showing him you were practically gleaming, it had been a while since you had been able to speak so much of the tattoos that littered your body. every single one of them had meant so much to you and being able to share that with someone; especially someone as excited and appreciative as you are.
“you’re really cool, i can see why nick enjoys hanging out with you so much.”
you and matt were sitting down in the living room now, leaving chris and nick to prepare dinner for the evening. talking came easily after the tour of your tattoos, matt showing you his and the conversation flowed better than you dreamed it to be.
you chuckled at matt’s comment, finding his eye contact was making you squirmish in your seat.
“nick is so much cooler than me, but i don’t mind i really enjoy being friends with him. plus now i have two new friends so that’s a bonus.”
matt laughed at your response, running a hand through his hair now avoiding eye contact with you.
“yeah, i’m grateful nick brought you around.”
matt who couldn’t take his eyes off of you for the rest of the evening, which did not go unnoticed by his brothers
“don’t steal my new best friend from me matt!” nick yelled out dramatically after yn left, making matt shake his head.
“you should let matt have their number,” chris mumbled, still focused on the game he was playing. nick gasped dramatically before agreeing, making the boys laugh with how quickly he switched up his emotions.
“just don’t steal them!” nick threatened, but matt was already too excited to text you to listen.
matt who got your number and could not stop texting you, and he especially couldn’t stop smiling every time you texted him back
“matt i need backup,” chris said frantically, his eyes glued to the computer and fingers moving at the speed of light on the controllers. when matt doesn’t respond, chris huffs and repeats himself.
“matt seriously dude where the fuck are you?!”
matt finishes up typing and looks up, oblivious to the game that they were losing.
“oh shit,” he mumbled, putting his phone down and picking his controller back up.
“you weren’t even playing?” chris yelled out, frustrated with their status. nick pipes up from the bed, suddenly curious. he peaks his head over and sees matt’s phone light up, watching matt immediately lose his focus to look at his phone. matt straightens up, wanting to reach for his phone before chris cursed loudly, drawing his attention away from the text. nick squints, thankful that he was wearing his glasses and sees the name on his phone to his disbelief. yn sent a text, then another one, and then another one. his jaw dropped, and his gasp was so loud it startled his brothers.
“nick! oh my god,” chris started to laugh when his fear settled down. nick still had his mouth wide open, only causing chris to laugh harder.
“you’re gonna catch flies kid,” matt snickered. nick slowly turned his head to matt, mouth still open, in a very dramatic motion.
“yn? you stole my best friend?”
matt froze, a slow blush creeping up from his neck to his cheeks. chris eyed his brothers from his peripheral vision, jaw also dropping.
“that’s why you’ve been so preoccupied? damn my boy has a crush,” chris started to chuckle, causing nick to scream and matt to drop his controller covering his face in embarrassment.
matt who gets jealous whenever you and nick go out like he wants to hang out with u too :(
matt who finally gets the nerve to ask you to hang out with him, after nick decides he’s had enough of matt complaining about how “you never invite me-or chris!” (he has to add the chris part to not sound too obvious)
matt stood nervously at the door, fiddling with his keys in his hands. he finally knocked, immediately hearing rummaging around behind the door. matt couldn’t help but smile, wondering what you were doing right now. were you just as nervous to hang out with him one on one?
suddenly, the door swings wide open, and you’re in the doorway smilingly widely.
“hey! come in!”
matt who had so much fun hanging out with you.
the two of you went to antiques and thrift stores, grabbed some dinner and went back to your place to spend the rest of the evening together. the two of you got along so well he ended up staying until 12AM because you wanted to finish watching the show you started, not that matt was complaining. he was tempted to ask to stay over (and you were tempted to ask him to stay over) but he didn’t want things to be awkward. so he left late into the night, after you gave him a tackling hug, asking to hang out again soon
matt who started to call you every night, and although you two texted all day you never ran out of things to talk about.
matt who is really starting to fall for you
