CRITICAL ROLE CAMPAIGN 3 EP 95 SPOILERS
jesus christ these nerds are going to kill me.
before i get into my think piece abt... everything that transpired at the end of this episode, i would like to say this is one of the best c3 episodes.... one of my favourite episodes of all time. idk idk.
essek? smut? astrid? poly bells hells allegations?? i was already fucking sold dawg. i cannot goddamn believe that this four hour episode was... mostly... a shopping episode. i cant wait for the new art, regardless of the batshitery that happened that kinda throws my vibes off. i digress.
oh ashton greymoore i love you so much. i have been so worried abt them but honestly they're probably the lat person im concerned for currently. the grief was so compelling to watch and taliesin is a master of roleplaying as minus charisma but genuinely charismatic in his dorky awkward gruff and fumbling way. his rizz is actually just blindsiding us with earnest acts of service and comfort for his friends and i think thats so neat. im happy that they're all going to aeor with fcg intertwined throughout their outfits. its poetic and also maddeningly sweet.
(love the little callowmoore moments sprinkled through this episode... they're so real to me)
pumat was fun and i am so damn glad they got all the items matt offered cause they were all so fucking cool.
also??? sugar daddy dorian storm??? yeah i see you gay boy. dorym is so real guys we need to prepare for a confession and soon. idk i get the vibe liam is gonna drop it in the most heartbreaking way. or robbie. they're both sick in the head tbh.
loved the little queer inn that essek dragged them to and the calm before the storm was genuinely the cutest shit ever and im glad they were having fun despite everything. we got the essek and ashton dunamancy scene that i have been begging for but i cant even talk abt that right now.
before i address orym and laudna...
delilah briarwood. im gonna fucking kill you. best believe that.
theres been so much discourse on twitter abt who was right or wrong or this or that, but ultimately the point is: neither of them is RIGHT. they're both stricken with trauma and grief, and motivated by the love they have for a) the ones orym has lost and b) the one laudna is fighting not to lose. laudna WAS worried abt orym before delilah twisted that into paranoia, and orym didnt wield that fuckass blade bc he DOESNT feel sick touching it.
he says its not abt revenge but... god. orym. you want revenge. call it whatever you like but you've been angry for a while.
laudna says she KNEW the sword was cursed, but she was lying or in denial abt the fact that delilah is the one who coerced her to hold the blade in her hand.
if either of them had decided to talk to each other or the group as a whole then this could have -- most likely -- been avoided. orym decided to take the blade and shoulder the burden of what it meant and what it represented so they didnt have. laudna felt betrayed and hurt but instead of trusting orym she was manipulated back into that cunt's clutches.
i dont prescribe to trauma olympics, especially when laudna and orym never actually denied each others' trauma with otohan and that blade so i think its slightly irrelevant when discussing them both.
(i will say this... otohans blade is what killed laudna but delilah is the one who had her in a cage when she was dead. otohan murdered oryms family and there was absolutely nothing that could save them. i firmly believe THAT is what chetney meant, not that laudna hasnt suffered so we can all just... unclench a little idk)
in all the discourse, lets not forget who the real villains are -- evil milfs (delilah and otohan). delilah chose this moment to sew distrust in laudna towards orym for a reason. its like the spider queen and opal. she NEEDS laudna isolated and dependent, and she cant sink her teeth in completely if laudna has someone to fall back on.
imodna... jesus imodna breaks me every time. that entire scene on the roof while laudna looks so much like her abuser -- the woman who MURDERED her -- and having that visage fade as laudna proclaims her love for imogen. peak romance and tragedy.
it was still so upsetting hearing the echoes of delilah as laudna spoke tho. knowing her hold on laudna is getting stronger and laudna has no real faith that she will be able to fight against her. hearing her ask imogen if shes still fun scary and knowing that imogen cant tell the truth. this isnt fun anymore. laudna is in danger and imogen doesnt know how to fix it.
"I'll always love you, Laudna. I just don't know what to do with it."
its uh its not looking good for our sapphics fellas.
anyway, i do think that ashton was the emotional mvp of this episode, especially while shit was escalating. putting themself between orym and laudna, PROTECTING laudna despite knowing she attacked him, TRUSTING that she was actually telling the truth and guiding her to see the forest for the trees and apologize for an irrational choice made through a mixture of trauma, delusion and paranoia.
im... excited? for the next episode? not sure why we keep having really horrible inter-party conflict the day before going on a suicide mission but the hells are my problem babies and i have to accept that they're just little fucked up guys.
god. is it thursday yet??

time for a jamie and co LORE POST!!!! here's them with their (immediate) families. all the actual lore and such below
JAMIE: only child with a single mom. since furries in this universe can only have kids within their taxonomic families, adoption is really common among smaller families like prionodontidae. however jamie's mom erica really wanted a bio kid, so she ended up marrying another linsang who she liked... well enough, but not that much. they get divorced when jamie's a little kid. she had jamie at an older age; by the time he's in college her markings have already started greying, which is why she looks a little dull next to him. nowadays she works as a teacher and she loves her son vewy much :3
SANTIAGO: santiago is the only one in the main cast with different species parents. cross-species kids are just the species of either parent with a 50/50 chance cus i don't feel like dealing with hybrids... HOWEVER sometimes genetic fuckshit happens. because of said genetic fuckshit, santiago grew to a cow size instead of a sheep size. i couldn't fit all the family relations shit on the actual image but emilio is santiago's OLDER brother (hes 25) but people always assume hes younger because santiago is a giant. magnolia and amapola are twins and both 8. mariana is either a teacher or a librarian (haven't figured it out yet) but she used to paint when she had more free time which is how santiago got interested in painting and eventually went into fine arts. jorge is a plumber and emilio is a graphic designer. santiago is the first in the family to leave their hometown (key west) for a degree (emilio went to a local college) and his mom + sisters were SOOOOOOOOOO SAD so he comes home to visit as often as he can. also since he is in family bovidae he has several cousins/aunts and uncles/etc that are different species. all i know for sure is that one of them lives near jamie and co's college and is some sort of antelope (leaning towards bongo bc i like them). also using this poast to announce that i changed santiagos outfit here is his new cute flowers and bees sweater look
JOHNNY: her family works on a chicken (and other assorted birds) farm, the chickens are for both eggs and meat while the other birds are just for eggs. this is actually a common set-up in the dorian furryverse, it's hard to farm livestock as a carnivore (because all the livestock are deathly afraid of you) so herbivores usually do the job even if they can't actually eat what they farm. johnny's parents are sorta "confused but got the spirit" about her being a butch lesbian. jimmy is an ass about it but he gets better. shoutout to this horse color calculator for helping me figure out which coat colors were plausible for them
NULL: null has an older brother and does not talk to their parents. sakichi is six years older than null and they were never very close; their parents treated sakichi as the "successful" child and null as the "problem" child. they're also quite conservative. null realized they were agender in high school but stayed closeted at home, they planned to come out to their parents immediately once they got to college and were able to support themselves. something happens that instead makes them come out a few days after their graduation and they get kicked out. null doesn't know where to go and ends up living at johnny's farm for the summer before college (sakichi lives far away doing some tech job and so can't take them in). the clantons are basically null's family at this point. once null legally changes their name they remove their last name entirely (it probably says X on their documents just cus there has to be SOMETHING there). sakichi and null see each other very occasionally, and sakichi still talks to their parents, but only when absolutely necessary. it's not malicious, he'd just feel too guilty cutting himself off from them completely
ARGYLE: argyle is an only child with well-off parents, his mom is a lawyer and his dad is a quirky ancient history professor. his parents are like EXTREMELY doting so they were secretly kinda glad that he came back home so they could see him more often. argyle was really scared that they would hate him for going into a less stable field, but his parents love him to death and are ready to support him in whatever. suzanne was probably a nightmare at pta meetings i'll be so real
#my art#my ocs#dorian furryverse#jamie and co#jamie#santiago#johnny#null#argyle#furry#doodles#2024#i dont feel like giving tags to literally everyone here so they just go under the main characters' tags#SORRY THE LORE IN THIS POST ESP REGARDING NULL IS SO IMPORTANT. BUT I KEPT IT IN THE DRAFTS FOR THREE MONTHS#BC I COULDNT FIGURE OUT SANTIAGO AND ARGYLES FAMILYS DESIGNS. i feel like you can tell i drew those last LOL#also emilio is lowkey just me using my baadeca design and changing the palette bc i like it enough to use for oc stuff#and he gets danny gonzalez esque gray hairs cus its sexy.#god willing the next thing i post will be a comic with argyle and null that i have also. had drafted since april. oops

dorian lorepost 3: friends, family, and fun (for me - not he)
under a cut bc this is L O N G and i mean. essay length probably
family
apart from his birth mother (roza), dorian has five members in his immediate family: his father (stephan), his stepmother (carmen), and three older half siblings: eduard, andrei, and isobel. the rest of dorian's family lack his dark hair and eyes, with all of his sibling having dirty-blond, red, or brown hair, leaving dorian to stick out like a sore thumb in family portraits.
his father was not expecting another child, much less one that inherited the family crest, and his relationship with dorian has always been awkward. as a child, dorian was very pushy about whether or not his father even cared about his birth mother at all, and for a period of several years refused to speak to him after a particularly bad fight. despite this, they are currently on speaking terms, with stephan teaching dorian how to properly activate/wield/manage his crest. he also ensured dorian was given proper combat training, along with scholarly teachings involving history, strategy, and politics.
dorian was very shy around his stepmother for months after being rescued from the bitter cold, and in turn carmen was conflicted about dorian and everything the child represented. but she was the first to notice the way dorian shivered at the slightest hint of a chill, his hesitance when it came to touch and his refusal of skin on skin contact despite how obviously he wanted connection. for his fifth birthday, she gifted him a pair of gloves that served to help alleviate his fears, and in turn he began to view her as a parental figure.
she took him under her wing - he was about a year behind her youngest - and raised him as her own. while his father provided dorian with lessons based around his future responsibilities as an inheritor of the family's crest, carmen ensured that he had not only a well-rounded education (expanding his lessons to include the arts and practical skills like cooking and sewing), but that he had hobbies as well (he took to things like dancing, poetry, embroidery, and fencing).
of dorian's three half siblings, the eldest is eduard, who took the addition of a new sibling in stride despite the fact that he was being raised to be the future head of house konstantinov before dorian's abrupt arrival. he doesn't have an adversarial relationship with dorian, but neither does he have a particularly close bond with him; he's always been distant and cold. since he's several years older than dorian, he has no real idea how to have a proper conversation with him. most of dorian's memories involve eduard talking about how dorian has to be perfect, exemplary, without flaw so that he does not bring shame upon their house. this sentiment comes from a place of genuine care, it's just that eduard hasn't made the effort to actually get to know dorian, absorbed as he is in his duties.
andrei is the middle child of dorian's half siblings, and the only one who has taken a wholly adversarial view of him. they find dorian's presence shameful and used to bully him relentlessly when they were children. it was only after their parents intervened that andrei backed off, though their relationship has never grown any warmer. andrei is a performer who travels throughout faerghus and is often on the road. they're generally a bit stuck-up and very proud, with a soft spot for their two siblings and no one else. secretly, both they and dorian wish to bridge the gap between them, but andrei has no clue how to go about apologizing for the way they've treated dorian in the past. despite no longer holding any real animosity towards him, they continue to be combative.
the youngest of dorian's half siblings - and the one closest to his own age - is isobel. she's just a year older than him, and took to dorian like a duck to water when they were introduced. the pair quickly became thick as thieves and would often get into trouble, with isobel becoming more outgoing around dorian (who managed to be even more shy than she was). out of his entire family, isobel is the one dorian is closest to; he writes letters to her regularly and hers is always the first opinion he seeks when he needs advice. a gifted and talented mage, isobel has chosen to spend her time teaching others using her skills. when she's not travelling throughout the kingdom offering herself as a tutor she spends her time honing her magic and putting her lessons on paper. as of dorian heading to the academy, she hopes to make copies of her work available within the next five years.
friends
as a member of house konstantinov, dorian grew up mostly hearing about the other houses in the holy kingdom via proxy - due to his status as the only child of the family that bore a crest, he was raised mostly secluded on the konstantinov grounds. on rare occasions when other nobility visited, he would spend most of the time in hiding due to his shy nature. he happened to meet several of the blue lions briefly throughout his earlier years (felix, ingrid, and dimitri). dorian had very few friendships apart from his close bond with his older sister.
due to his house's close relationship with the church of seiros, dorian is very used to being around knights and other members of the church, including even the archbishop herself. before the events of three houses, he had been to visit the monastery multiple times, and thinks of it as a safe place without needing time to settle in once the academy phase starts. he's friends with flayn and views seteth as a sort of older brother figure, and keeps up his swordplay skills by dueling the knights in their spare time.
dorian is capable of getting along with almost anyone, but as of the academy phase his circle of friends includes felix, mercedes, dedue, ignatz, linhardt, and tentatively dimitri.
lil misc details
dorian is deathly afraid of heights and the cold, often wearing more layers than is strictly necessary and refusing to look out of high windows or over railings
dorian's favorite animals are those often considered to be pests: vultures, ravens/crows, and foxes
dorian's room always has a large fire going in it, even during the warmer months
dorian is considered mysterious by others his age who don't know him (he's actually just shy)
dorian likes going on horseback rides and was given two hunting dogs when he came of age
when he's unable to sleep, dorian can be found going on walks outside or playing piano
so, about that crest
since it's stated that the nabatean's blood was a required component in giving the elites their crests, constantine likely already was in possession of a crest when they defected. however! since the game doesn't elaborate on the exact methods i chose to believe it was some sort of magic-laced blood transfusion, one which constantine was notably on the lesser receiving end of; because even in their elevated status they were still just an ex-stablehand.
so at some point i do think - as a form of hazing - constantine was forced to drink blood. which did suck but also well. you did betray your friend dude maaaaybe you should not have done that? and this is why the konstantinov crest behaves differently/the way it does.
anyway- effects of this! constantine's hair was probably run through with streaks of gray by the time they switched sides again to support seiros, and by the end of the war their hair was almost fully white. it was only with rhea's help that they were able to better manage the effects of their crest on their body and psyche.
among these effects was the ability to hear the other relics, or rather to hear bits of who they had once been. their own weapon, which beat in their hands to the tempo of the crest stone imbedded within it, whispered to them in the voice of the friend they'd allowed to be killed. even after the war, constantine was seen as a mysterious recluse, driven mad by their own guilt and oath-bound to the church in a form of eternal repentance.
constantine lived far longer than any of the other elites, becoming a pale shadow who lingered at rhea's side and served her faithfully as one of her very first knights. upon their passing, they were entombed by their family in what would become the konstantinov mausoleum, located in the cold frostbitten mountains where the family grounds was also constructed.
now, decades and decades later, their crest still allows the inheritor to hear the whispers of the hero's relics, though said whispers have grown quieter and rarer over time.
even individuals that do not inherit the konstantinov crest still find themselves preferring their meats rare, and some have been born with particularly sharp senses or found their incisors growing in more pointed than before when they lost their baby teeth. depleting ones' energy by overusing the crest will cause the user to crave rare meats, and outsiders who know the workings of their crest often refer to them as vampires as a joke (they don't actually drink blood - except in cases of desperation orrr well. what partners do is their business and not anyone else's mkay).
dragon and blood imagery is prevalent outside of the family's coat of arms, and dark maroon is the most common underlying color when it comes to decorations or things that are associated with the family, such as a flag or a handkerchief. rather than ordinary gargoyles, the mansion sports draconic ones, along with dragons incorporated into the architecture or furniture inside, with the primary accent color being gold or golden-bronze.
#opal.txt#oc lore tag#oc tag: dorian#i do like constantine i am very compelled by them#haunted literally. by that one choice for the rest of their life#any crest inheritors who were also vegetarian go down in the family's history btw they're held up as very strong#the prevalent dragon imagery is a thread connecting them back to the nabateans#isobel and dorian are so so close. she was probably the first one dorian talked to abt not being a girl#i also think all of dorian's siblings and his dad have green eyes. it's the dragon in them continuing to peek through even after so long#dorian's pupils do turn to slits when he activates his crest - as a child he used to not be able to switch back and forth with such ease#anyway. have this whole essay on dorian. i've made my own wiki article for him w/this almost

7, 9, and 22 on choosing violence?
7. what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?
Noble 6.
It's pretty unfair of me. Of course everyone loves their ocs. Everyone should get to love their ocs! Everyone should love their ocs and thrive.
I just got Tired of it all real fast.
9. worst part of canon
Halo 5 is a meme answer at this point.
TV Show's not canon so I won't count it, they were at least prescient enough to make it a separate continuity.
I could also say Kilo Five, but I have such complicated feelings about it. Kilo Five pisses me off a lot, but it's also pretty interesting.
I don't like Denning's books (and a couple things he does really frustrate me) but I feel like saying they're the worst just because I don't like them would be petty.
I think the weakest part of the written Halo canon just in terms of overall craftsmanship is the Uprising comic because it just sucks, but it's honestly a boring kind of suck. Nothing that happens in it really matters. (I mean, Ackerson dies, but that's the only good thing I have to say about it.) The art is bad, really really really bad. The writing is bad. But none of the characters matter, so it's like. Fine.
....One of my followers will probably be able to point out something I got really unhinged about hating before that I forgot here, lol.
22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores
I am taking this as carte blanche to do propaganda for the YA Halo novels again.
I think the first one is better than the second one, but the second one has Middle Book of a Trilogy problems and then the third one never got to happen bc it got cancelled (due to low sales, I would assume.)
Anyway.
Halo: Battle Born is about a group of teenagers on the planet Meridian. When the Covenant attacks Meridian, it puts up a big forcefield bubble over their town because there's a Forerunner Thing in there that the Covenant wants to dig up, so the Covenant is protecting their new digsite.
Most of the town's people managed to hide in an underground bunker and are locked in there by the town's dumb AI. The only people who aren't are these teenagers... and the bunker is starting to flood.
They do have one thing going for them, though: also trapped in the forcefield bubble? A wounded Spartan-III who got separated from the rest of his team.
Between the group of them, they need to figure out how to rescue and evacuate the townspeople without the Covenant killing them (and maybe fuck up the Covenant's plans while they're here.)
If you have absolutely zero tolerance for stories about high school kids, I completely understand. But I went into this in good faith and it was a lot of fun. As a Halo nerd, it was really enjoyable to see a writer doing work to flesh out what civilian life (especially for young characters) is like in this universe because we mostly don't get a lot of opportunities to see it. It's fun to read about Victor wanting to make videos and movies and trying to have a channel. It's fun that Dorian is in a band and plays some kind of mostly-computer instrument we don't really know how it works.
It's fun that Saskia's parents work for a shady weapons company and maybe knew the attack was coming and abandoned their daughter. :)
(Actually it's wildly fucked up, but that is the kind of fun we have here.)
I also really enjoy the way they bond with the Spartan, Owen, and how he finds some commonality with one of them in particular.
You can make some criticisms about how some of the tech is a little goofy (mostly re: a genetic lock that shows up, based on my memory) and maaaaybe Owen is a liiiiiittle too willing to tell the teenagers some truths that he shares, but also it's not like Halo has ever been particularly good about having its characters do opsec anyway. (Plus Owen is... also a teenager! And he's in a really bad situation and separated from his chain of command.)
I think it's worth your time if it sounds fun.
(The second one isn't as good, but it DOES have the protagonists getting pulled into working for the UNSC and that's very fucked up!!!)

Funko Pop Collection
So I got this ask a while back from a mutual (aka @blackcat2907) and I mentioned in the tags that I could show off my funko pops so here I am! I started collecting them in middle school. Theyâre probably a money waster and will most likely be thrown away by future descendants but I like themđ„°
I tried to get them all pictured together since theyâre all scattered about my room but that didnât happen bc I either misplaced some or they werenât standing right (bc as we all know, Funkos can be finicky with if they want to stand properly on a given day).
My Harlequin Batman/Alfred Hitchcock/Darla/Lock/Mr. Rogers are usually on a shelf together since I donât know where to put them and Iâm not sure where most of them came from. I imagine Lock was purchased around the time when I was making my descendants fics (one of them featured Lock, Shock and Barrelâs Children) but idk for suređ
From back -> front/left -> right we have:
Carmen Sandiego (she was my first)
Drowned Batman/-11 Batman (I havenât actually read Death Metal but I really like the aesthetic of that AU Batmanđ
)
Regular Batman
Harlequin Batman
Darla from Shazam (I really liked the first live actionâand the secondâand I thought Darla was sweetâŁïž)
Alfred Hitchcock
Lock (nightmare before Christmas)
Mr. Rogers (I think I bought this when I saw the Tom Hanksâ biopic)
Eric + Ariel (I keep them with my fairytale retellings. Iâm hoping to get a Cinderella figure at some point since
Batgirl
Pride month Robin (I usually buy my Funkos from retailers or Amazon but this one I got from funkoâs official store since it came out during June last year shortly after Tim came out)
A bonus Dorian from D&D: Honor Among Thieves:
I enjoyed that movie a lot and I have a soft spot for tieflings so when I saw Hot Topic had the movie Funkos, I snagged her. I nearly forgot to include her since sheâs usually sitting on a corner bookshelf behind my chair/desk. Since D&D is a roleplaying game, Iâve kept her with my game disks/switch & DS cartridges
The bombshells collection:
Left -> right:
Hawk girl
Supergirl
Batwoman
Poison Ivy
Catwoman
Iâve been trying to collect DCâs Bombshells line because I just love their 40s aesthetic a lotâIâd like to get the comic series also but Iâm currently on a book buying ban to curb my physical TBR (thereâs 58 books left if my Storygraphâs count is right).
And finally, my minis:
My mom got me this DC funko advent calendar for Christmas last year and it was very fun opening them all up since it gave me something to look forward to every day. Unfortunately, a lot of them were duds as there were so many duplicates (I suspect the company just retooled actual Funkos and didnât bother to make new ones lol). Also the flash ones donât stand unless theyâre leaning against another mini. But I still think theyâre cute so theyâre displayed on their own shelf :)
Iâve never officially counted all my Funkos before but in total (excluding my advent calendar minis) we have 18. Thereâs a lot more Iâd love to buy (including a Huntress funko) but at the moment all I can do is stare wistfully at an Amazon wishlist and Iâm okay with that for nowđ
(Iâm sorry this took awhile BTW. I could lie and say I was busy but I really got sucked into the tv series White Collar of all things. Itâs good, Iâm on s4 <3)
By the way,, before you leave: if anybody is reading this and is collecting the deluxe editions of these dragon age books or knows where I can get copies for a reasonable price, I would appreciate it. They are very hard to find now since theyâre technically out of print I think. Iâm missing The Calling, The Stolen Throne and Last Flight. Might have to cave and buy them in their original editions which would be a shame bc I think these copies are gorgeous and have incredible artđ
#my posts#batâs corner of the cave#funko collection#I also bought pin boards recently as Iâve discovered the world of Etsy enamel pins :3#but I havenât filled them up yet so thereâs not much to tell#and I have some charms lying around#I just really like trinketsâthey spark so much joyđ„°

Thank you so much @zenkindoflove for tagging me! I simply love your work so its an honorđ„čâ€ïžâ€ïž youâre lowkey one of the people who inspired me to write and upload my work in this fandom so thank you!!!
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 4ïżœïżœđ» Iâve never written anything on ao3 before joining this fandom, and its been great I love the communityâ€ïž
2. Whatâs your total AO3 word count? 25.571 đ€đŒ
3. What fandoms do you write for? ACOTAR. I might do some Zutara (ATLA) in the future but for now these ACOTAR characters have me on a chokehold.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? I only got 4 but the list goes like this: Wicked Thing (Elucien), The tragedy of Spring (Feylin), Prim and Proper (Elucien), The luck of the draw (Elucien)
5. Do you respond to comments? Yes! I looove comments they make me go like this đ„č Just the idea of someone reading my writing and taking their time to leave a comment is honestly what fuels me! Writing is very self-gratifying but knowing someone else is enjoying what you wrote is next level.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I still havenât finished my multichapters, but I will probably say the angstiest one so far was the Feylin one (no wonder) (donât worry guys Iâm still planning a happy ending for that one).
7. Whatâs the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I love fluff so honestly all of them will have some type of HEA. The happiest one currently is the one where Elain comes only by rubbing herself on Lucienâs cock so⊠that one (it made ME happy at least).
8. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? This is actually a new endeavor for me, I am a smut reader for sure, but I was not sure I would be able to write it⊠till I did and apparently now I canât stop.
Apparently I like to write very descriptive smut (Iâm gonna tell you the sounds, the moans, the exact view of the filthy thing), I found myself surprised of what was coming out of me for my âMatureâ fic that now I will have to change to explicit. I try to write sex in a way that makes sense for the characters and also to describe a dynamic through it. Also, I wonât stop until I get flustered by my own writing (i make myself blush ngl)
9. Do you write crossovers? Ive never done it but Ive been recently thinking about maybe making one of ACOTAR/TOG. Iâm thinking Nesta and Fenrys, Nesta and Dorian, the possibilities are endless you know?
10. Have you ever had a fic translated? No but thatâs so cool
11. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Not yet! But recently @positivelyruined invited me to write a very angsty feylin fic I could not reject (coming soon)
12. What is your all-time favorite ship? Damn, I canât answer this without feeling like a cheater but since Elucien has been the ship that has made me create art again then I will say them!
13. Whatâs a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Maybe my old original stories from wattpad (I have one that blew up bc I casted Henry Cavill as the MMC and never finished it sorry guysđ)
14. What are your writing strengths? I think dialogue. Itâs where I have the most fun at least and it probably shows!
15. What are your writing weaknesses? I struggle with embellishing the prose, sometimes I need to re-write entire paragraphs because it feels so cutting and dry itâs unbearable.
16. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I could do it sometime! Fun fact: my native language is Spanish, but I find it cringy to write (and read) romance in it.
17. First fandom you wrote for? ACOTARđ
18. Favorite fic youâve written? The tragedy of Spring for sure. I think because is the one I have most fleshed out and it just feels natural to me. I love the angst and I love how it is turning out to beđ„
Iâm tagging: @positivelyruined @kateprincessofbluewhales @achaotichuman @clockwork-ashes @ataraxiasflame @separatist-apologist
(If youâve already done this dont worry I just wanted to say ily)
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 21
2. Whatâs your total AO3 word count? 488,773
3. What fandoms do you write for? ACOTAR (active), Crescent City (active), A Song of Ice and Fire (former), The Big Bang Theory (former), Twilight (former - not on AO3), That 70's Show (former - not on AO3).
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? Â The Pon Farr Hypothesis (Shenny, The Big Bang Theory), The Sweet Vibrations Discovery (Shenny, The Big Bang Theory), Burn Forever With Me (Elucien, ACOTAR), Summer Heat (Elucien & Erixius, ACOTAR), Our Hearts Still Beat the Same (Elucien, ACOTAR)
5. Do you respond to comments? Yes! I try my best to respond to all comments these days. I like having conversations with my readers!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I don't do angsty endings. I'm demure. I'm mindful.
LOL, but no really, I almost always do some kind of hopeful/HEA kind of ending. But I have written some angsty drabbles. There is a Satharion drabble you can find in my drabble series called Mr. and Mrs. Ketos that is pretty sad for the prompt "to distract".
7. Whatâs the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Most of them. I'm a fluff girl. I think the happiest of happy is likely Burn Forever With Me because it's basically Elucien accepting the mating bond and going into a frenzy. Which how much happier can you get?
8. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Yes. Loads. At this point, the real question is when do I not write smut? And the answer is, not often.
My smut is very descriptive. I give people the manual. I like to make it immersive. I also have been told my smut is "smut with feelings" or "tender fucking". Which isn't to say it doesn't get raw and dirty. But I always am looking for what is the emotional core of this smut scene. How are they expressing love in this moment, even if it's one character snowballing cum into another's mouth? I also am always looking to make you kick your feet, even in the midst of a sex scene, so whenever I can, I try to show those little moments of tender touches that happen during sex.
9. Do you write crossovers? Yes! Actually I wrote a few crossovers when I was in That 70s Show fandom - notoriously cross overs with slasher films because loads of them had teenagers in the 70s haha. I haven't done one for ACOTAR yet, but I do have an ACOTAR/Crescent City Modern AU I've been thinking of for a while.
10. Have you ever had a fic translated? Not that I know.
11. Have you ever co-written a fic before? YES! Quite a lot. I've co-written with three authors. Two when I was in That 70's show fandom. And I've written two fics with my ACOTAR bff @crazy-ache and we have more plans in the future to keep writing together. I love co-writing. It's a great way to grow as a writer. And the creativity that comes from two brains is BIG.
12. What is your all-time favorite ship? I can't answer that. My OTPs are my children. All my ships I feel longing for, in different ways. I will say, I have been the most prolific with Elucien in terms of frequency of writing in a short amount of time. So clearly they have really touched a big part of me.
13. Whatâs a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I mean all the fics I abandoned when I was younger? Definitely those lol.
14. What are your writing strengths? Dialogue. As seen above, I have written for a lot of sitcom fandoms, and when you write for those fandoms, you get practice with writing with sitcom cadence which really helps with writing pithy dialogue in other genres. I also think I am a very good introspective writer. I think I am best being inside characters' heads. I also do think I am good at smut. I wouldn't write it so much if I didn't think so.
15. What are your writing weaknesses? Â SHUTTING THE FUCK UP. No seriously, I do tend to be on the wordy side. It's one of the reasons I get into drabble moods because I do need to learn to be more concise and try to execute a scene without making it 5000 words. I also write very wordy sentences that need to be slashed and slashed.
16. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? Oh, I doubt I'll be able to do that. I only know English.
17. First fandom you wrote for? That 70's Show!
18. Favorite fic youâve written? Ack! Okay, that is so so hard. I don't even know what I'd say. I guess, if I had to absolutely choose, I would say Summer Heat because I think it is emblematic of all my skills as a writer in one fic. And it's the fic I introduced Alexius - the first OC I ever fully fleshed out and developed, and that will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart because Alexius has given me so much confidence I never knew I had being a writer. He's really let me know that I can write original content with original characters on my own and shown me how to do it.
~~~~~~
No one tagged me đ. But I ended up doing this anyways because I've been really wanting to and I decided I'd rather risk being a loser. But, to make sure no one else feels like a loser who wants to do it, I'm tagging everyone I can think of that I don't think I've seen do this. Sorry if you're tagged again and you did this! And if I didn't tag you I'm sorry. Please just be like me and go for it. At least we did it together!
do you have ocs? i'd love to hear about them!!
i have so many ocs i cant hold them all
currently the ones i am fixated on (because the pandemic made me regress) are literally revamped versions of my ocs when i was like, 9, based on toys i had... but that's information you gotta beg me for
The more Relatable ocs I have include the ones from video games with character creation. Some of them have tags on my blog. I will focus on the big ones and leave the others in the dust. just like my sketchbook.
Dragon Age: (if youve never played da i apologize)
my hero of ferelden Opal Tabris who i have had since early high school and if you couldn't tell from my url, she loves zevran. seems cold on the outside but is super caring and kind on the inside
my blue hawke Jade Hawke she loves fenris... i dont have any da2 gifs of her bc i dont have in on pc
and then I have multiple inquisitors i actually care about my most fleshed out is Bade Lavellan who was originally created for Dorian back in 2014 but has then evolved into being in love with my friend's da oc, Mahonan, an angry and traumatized dalish elf. I like their dynamic better because in summary, Bade is kind to everyone and puts others before himself even though the world is constantly dragging him through the dirt. They balance each other out. He also doesnt think hes fit to be a leader but tries because he thinks he has to. I also REALLY care about his best friendship with Sera they both help each other be better people
Next up is Athera Lavellan, aka necromancer barbie. She's a Dalish mage who cares about her people before all else and feels like she's betraying her clan by being inquisitor, but she knows she can do good in the inquisition. She LOVES Blackwall they are very codependent on each other and like grossly in love
I also have Amber Trevelyan which i usually dont like playing humans if I have another choice but I decided to make a backstory for her to make her more interesting. Her noble family disowned her when her magic was discovered so she found family in the circle (but shes not necessarily pro-circle. she hates templars and her eye scar is from a templar). Vivienne is her new mom and she's in love with Sera
Mass Effect:Â I only have one and itâs Evangeline Shepard sheâs a paragon because i cant be mean she loves Thane and hates Earth because of her Tragic Backstory
Stardew Valley:
This is Jude i love him heâs nice and gay and could probably be a lumberjack if he put on plaid. he likes nerdy junk and is stoked when he learns magic is real. he quickly becomes close with sebastian and wants to experience the magic with him :âââ)Â Â Â Â (im not very good at art but the only other picture i have is his little in-game pixels)
I also have another farmer named Lorna. I dont have a good picture of her but sheâs a goofball and has a big olâ crush on Penny
Fallout:
I like your courier so Iâll put mine here too! Her name is Rapunzel. Why? I donât know. Thatâs just what I put in the character creator all those years ago. Maybe after getting shot in the head since she had memory loss she forgot her name but remembered liking the fairy tale? your guess is as good as mine. Bisexual disaster. Would be dead if it wasnât for boone&arcade and her high speech skill. She acts bubbly and sarcastic which she is but its partly bc shes using it to hide the fact that she doesnt think of herself as anything more than a âdeadbeat mailmanâ and thinks she has no place having such influence over new vegas and the mojave. She has a big school girl crush on Boone which may or may not be unrequited but sheâs like his best friend and instead she sees herself as clingy and annoying and an inconvenience.
I do not have a good picture of her I apologize but shes basically just like blonde with green eyes
#text#ask#miss-shydeer#thank you...... i love talking about them..........#i only briefly touched on them so let me know if you want more info#oc stuff
i literally am writing so many fics right now its a problem and im gonna tell u all about them bc who else do i have to tell.
my t4t vampire x vampire hunter college and they are roomates omg they are rooomates. enemies to lovers <33 frank, the vampire hunter, gets top surgery and the vamp gerard needs to nurse him back to health. frank has no real proof that gerard is vampire but is very into the occult and well its kinda obvious. gerard can just possess people and constantly just fucks with frank. also gerard just steals T gel to lather on their body bc they are a vamp and they cant do the a doctor, and poor transmasc nb gerard wants top surgery and doesnt know how to get it :((( this is the one ive just started but its such a banger, it was meant to be a one shot but i think its gonna be 20k+ words but i just love it
necromancer x demon. frank is just chilling in the astral plane as u do, he is a very well known witch, specialize in death magick, and a trans demon called gerard contacts him and they are like i need u to find someone who for me and frank is like only if u get me a hearing with satan. so true frank, he wants to be immortal i get that. its based of real witchcraft, im kinda becoming a witch bc its the coolest thing ever. im writing this for the preternatural bandom challege (well probs it might be too long idk)
dorian gray frerard fic, which is really about what it means to be an openly queer artist in the twenty first century and have all ur art be about queerness and ur relationships. i had it on ao3 but the prose were old and real bad. im always editing it and i like to think of this as my magnum opus. the fic that will be done in the next 10 years bc every word has be perfect. the prose has to sound like a contemporary painting, a meshing on the old and the new. i think about it all the time but i have to be a better writer to write it
butch4butch lesbian romcom. a banger, the most lesbian thing ever written in my opinion, its like frank is shane from the L word and her butch lesbian best friend of many years Gerard has declared that they are âgoing heteroâ and now engaged to marry a man in three weeks and frank is like what the fuck do u just say??? ur a butch lesbian?? this one is about 40k words ive written most of the first draft, im just editing it. some chapters have been beta read. this will be the first chapter fic i publish. im gonna write it all before i publish so i can change things i need to.
my nb4nb model x photographer fic. its about goths, punks, life, death. u know a mediation on art and life. queerness and art and integrity. its like about things. its more of a character study. this is meant to be a one shot bc like i think i might have made it to long again
sapphic magic school au. my baby <333 frank is a nb butch lesbian necromancer and gee is a bisexual transfem half-vampire. its more of a contemporary epic fantasy, like the world building is very intense. you paint magic, u change the perception of the world not the actual world itself. frank is like obsessed with the old masters and that how they paint spells. the plot is kinda up in the air right now i have like 10k words written but i dont think its what i want to write and i need to world build some more. its a real slow burn. like this will be my long affffff fic. its more about frank, gee, mikey, ray and their adventures than just about frerard u know its there. also mikey is a massive repressed homo its hilarious imo
good omens inspired but they overthrow the gods lmao as u do. frank is crowley and gerard is azriphale i really wrote a revolution into my mcr fic haha bc why not. i started writing it years ago but this would be a hard one to write like its kinda more the left hand of darkness but if crowley and azriphlae were in it
pride and prejudice but its a modern emo retelling IM JUST SAYING. okay so i started writing it but wolfstar but jk rowling sucks also i know rpf fanfics are kinda weird (as i write so many i know im aware but i am just so in the mcr fandom) but idk what other fandom to write it in
i have more lmao but ill stop there didnt mention my orlando au, tattoo fic, or pixie fic. some more off the top of my head. i have too many fucking ideas and i need to finish my wips and publish them.
also omg my buying a boyfriend fic so true now that is a one shot
#here u go#i know its a lot#but like#i have a lot to say#u know on top of this im making a killjoys rpg and have about 5 different unfinished paintings#i know#why do i do this to myself#i want to do them all#u know i also play guitar too#and like am somehow being a witch#why am i trying to do everyting at once#i am a master of none#fanfics#fanfiction#i dont ship irl ppl i just write trans and gay fanfics
 hello, its nora (she/her, gmt) n this is the ethereal but spoiled alma olive putnam (she goes by all 3 names cos sheâs pretentious as fuck). raised in a farmhouse in vermont, big horse girl energy. very hungry for everything life has to offer. wakes up and smells the success in her blood. luvs the smell of libraries and listening to french music from a tinny record player in knee socks. here is pinterest. bio is below the cut, like this post to be bombarded with plotting messages but i might forget tho so pls message me x
application template.
ăELLE FANNING â CIS-FEMALEă âż looks like ALMA OLIVE PUTNAM is here for HER JUNIOR year as a CLASSICS student. SHE is 21 years old & known to be RESILIENT, MAGNETIC, CALLOUS & PROUD. Theyâre living in PERKINS, so if youâre there, watch out for them. ⏳ NORA. 24. GMT. SHE/HER.
aesthetics.
a red beret nestled on top of bright platimum locks, neck scarves tied around your throat the way they do it in french new wave films, running barefoot through the woods in feckless hedonism, china dolls with porcelain faces lined against the walls of your room, the mona lisa smile, knee-socks tugged over the hockey grazes on your knees, a forged botticelli drying on your easel, ophelia floating in the middle of a lake.Â
proceed w caution, tw for death, drugs, alcohol, violence
the short form.
â studying classics cos she thinks it makes her sound smart, but actually hates fuckin latin and just loves learning about feckless hedonism and the festivals of bacchus and writing about how all women in myth are literally forgotten. was expelled from princeton in her first year so her parents basically paid her way into radcliffe but she made an impression.... like... super fast and in her sophomore year she was upgraded to perkins accomodation n a paid scholarship bcos i think the governors kind of expect to see her in the supreme court one day or.
â Â born in vermont in a big old farmhouse. her great-great-grandfather moved to america as an immigrant and worked on a plantation, made his way up cos he could speak a lot of languages and therefore win more people over. for the last two generations, putnam men have owned the farm and do little of the dirty work. big in the meat industry.
â both her parents had large personalities, so almaâs never really been shy around adults, even as a kid sheâd speak to them in a forthright, confident manner, and because she was always surrounded by adults, sheâs always seemed a bit wise beyond her years.
â very much a consolidation of every character in the secret history. has a morbid longing for the picturesque at all costs. obsessed with w.h. auden and the beat poets. â âaestheticism is the only thing worth pursuing and even that is pointlessâ â is majoring in classical civilisation. can read ancient greek and latin. also speaks french.
â studies hard and plays hard. she gets top marks but itâs because academia is literally her life, she loves the smell of libraries, the ancient smoke of learning, of feeling like old wine in a new bottle reincarnated from the bones of some old, dead witchy woman who invented a cure for cowpox or somethin.
â isnât a foward-planner, however. alma prefers to leave her options open, play the field, live in a spontaneous manner so her study style is mostly cramming a few days before a test, or staying up all night writing an essay on a massive adrenaline boost powered by red bull or probably adderall, scribbling (or typing) furiously into the night.
â pretentious motherfucker. loves poetry, especially the romantics, loves morbid ones too, edgar allen poe, sylvia plath, allen ginsberg, she just loves them all. canât get enough. her favourite films are likeâŠ. wanky artfilm independent european cinema. especially french new wave. âwhat do you think of goddardâs work??â while snorting a line off someoneâs sink at 5am on a school night, but you can bet sheâll make it to that 9am class. â very intelligent and beautiful and knows both of those facts. plays devilâs advocate. humanitarian, vegan. â judgemental but takes great care not to appear so. petty and vindictive
â obsessively devours mystery and thriller novels. she herself is a gillian flynn book waiting to happen. â tries to be an enigma. wants to be mysterious and unreadable because thatâs what books have taught her makes women desirable and interesting and cool. very amy dunne in the way she expertly reinvents herself to suit her audience, when she wants to impress
â act like the flower but be the serpent under it. is a user. manipulative. leads people on. will throw another student under the bus to demonstrate her own intelligence and integrity â heavily involved in the theatre society. loves attention. â has an addictive personality. seems unable to do anything in a small dose, she has to let it utterly consume her. with sports, sheâs fiercely competitive, runs track, played lacrosse at school, now is a cheerleader probably. with alcohol, itâs never a shot, itâs a whole bottle â wine or whiskey â sheâll be table dancing before the nightâs up and making out with someone sheâll regret in the morning.
â her clothing style is likeâŠ. vintage thrift store but make it preppy. berets and cute hats, neck scarves, large fluffy cardigans or like those leathery jackets with big suede fringes on them, mini skirts (very 70s), and knee-high socks or boots. quite often sheâll be in sports kit, maybe a cute tennis skirt, n when sheâs feeling casual sheâll wear like, a talking heads tshirt with a pair of mom jeans and converse, but otherwise, the library is her catwalk. â relates to ophelia from hamlet and sibyl vane in dorian gray. weirdly obsessed with women who commit suicide. loves jackson pollock paintings and abstract art. â likes old things. old books, old music, old houses, it reminds her of happier times like when she wasnât alive. buys all her music on vinyl and has a gramophone because âthe sound quality is betterâ kfdsjj.
plots.
here are some generic wanted plots but by all means message me so we can flesh them out more if any strike ur interest:
study buddies !! someone who is equally unprepared and so spends all night in the library with alma before a big deadline, maybe they even met in the library
if theyâre from new england or vermont, then cousins . second cousins / extended family / family friends â Â probably spat volavons on your character once as children, omg childhood friends !
people who live in perkins n feel like they r constantly competing with one another to keep their place as one of the #elite only know each other from brief interactions in the lift or the canteen
honestly someone who is fully in love with her or crushing on her that she can just break would be sweet :/ or on the other hand someone she unexpectedly gets feelings for and actually wants to guage her own  eyeballs out bc of it
frinds !! unlikely friends !! toxic friends !! former best friends separated by sporting or academic rivalries !
hockey / cheer friends who are on other teams but who she absolutely loves playin against!!!
fellow academics who like meeting up to discuss latin and greek ! gimme a secret society bonding by their love of ancient learning
i reckon sheâs in a lot of societies, definitely the film club, maybe works as a projectionist at the uni cinema if they have one so give me ppl affiliated with that, give me fellow wanky pretentious art-lovers and poets and historians who will go to museums and galleries with her and listen to the velvet underground on vinyl
people she gets mortally fucked off her tits with at parties
people who think she is throwing her academic potential away by caving to hedonistic impulse
A SECRET SOCIETY !!! honestly i would die for a slug club esque thing in which the children of notable families are invited to dinners OR almaâs also an art forger, so maybe like a club of students set up to basically forge paintings and documents from the university special collections
people she has drunkenly made out with, hooked up with, or regularly sleeps with casually, maybe even a friend w benefits she is repressing feelings for, i love angst,
people she used to date or unrequitedly likes, but to them itâs just a physical thing, give me all the thirsty angst plots, and maybe some softness too, i need some religion in this girls life, she is a roman catholic after all
full biography.
alma olive putnam.
intro.
     the girl is a knife. razor-sharp, double-edged, the bright shine of a two-faced, lovely thing. silver like the secrets you magpie thief from other heads. youâre a scavenger of knowledge, of tidbits, of gossip to lock away for later use and late-night re-inspection. a mind is like a clock if you get to learn the pieces. bit by bit, you dismantle the inner workings of the brains that tick around you â how easy it is to change itâs path, how words and their meanings can make a person laugh or cry in an instant. to have the power to control that is to be a god. itâs the power trip you crave wielding pom-poms in your hands; a possessive need for control that a younger you, small and weak, never had as a child. small lips, smaller smile, a doll clutched in your too-hungry fingers, hard enough to shatter the bones of a real infant. you cut your hair with your motherâs kitchen scissors before the autumn falls, rendering you out of season, unfit for the cold weather that beats against the nape of your neck, where a stick-and-poke marks the star you were born under ; the bull. âmama, when will i be a queen?â as soon as they find a crown small enough not to slip from your head.
biography.
     if you get hungry enough, they say, you start eating your own heart. hands red, stained by pomegranate seeds, the empty pulp of its shell splattered on your thighs you find yourself wondering â what would it be like to want? in the beginning, you never knew hunger. twins, born under the same star, you first, him second â a nuclear family. never a sister to compete with, you were always the cherry pie of your parentsâ hearts. white-haired, blue-eyed, beautiful baby of mine. the townhouse in vermont and the summer house in lyon, you wanted for nought, showered with attention, saddled with gifts - hardly a wonder you came to rely on such affection as a confirmation of your own worth.
     at eight years old you first met death, blood on a gingham-print dress, a smear of it over your cheekbone and the pulp of a mangled animal at your feet murdered by the hands of a stable boy. âalma, my precious baby, you get away from that filth,â your mama would cry from the upstairs balcony â cigar in one hand and a bloody mary in the other â though whether the filth she referred to was the dead pig or the boy with a kernel of corn in his mouth, you never did find out.
     your family earned their keeps in farming, great-grandfather wolfgang hildegarde a german immigrant, great-grandmother maura lisbon a prairie girl. they fell hopelessly in love between troughs and pig-shit, working for three dollars a day at a farm their descendants would later own, trade deals with the indians, vacations to calcutta, your father todd putnam in the kind of sheepskin coat his fatherâs father could only dream of owning. he worked hard so that youâd never have to. your mama once asked â you heard it through the window, rounding cartwheels across the picket-fenced lawn â could he not find a respectable career rather than selling shrink-wrapped pork for a dime a dozen? that blood money had no business raising a child. you look far back enough, edie, your father had said in his low, strong voice that could bring a civil war to silence, and i think youâll find that all money is blood money.
     language was never fickle on your tongue, french dinner time talk by the time you were out of your hush puppy shoes, your mama fixing the au pair a smile as she fixed herself another martini. you learned the clarinet at four and how to dance with the grace of a swansong at six, ethereal under a spotlight, an audience captive in the palm of your hand. by eight you knew that youâd always been destined to be loved. loved so hard they would want to taste you, bite into the soft plump of your cheek and eat you alive. that was how magnetic you wanted to feel. but mother hamsters eat their own young when penned in together too long, and soon you became too wild, too restless, another package on your fatherâs delivery invoice, box-shipped out to english boarding school.
     fitting in had never been something you had to concern yourself with. you were always the shiny new toy the other girls wanted to play with, bright like a dropped coin from a magpieâs beak. wherever you went, you seemed to leave a trail of awe, pig-tailed harrietâs adoring you, imitating you, teachers forgiving your class-time chatter for the sake of your wild heart and the restless spirit you possessed. tell us what itâs like in the states, alma. theyâd coo, enamoured by your hollywood drawl. does your father own a gun? you hardly knew. barely even knew the colour of his hair, for the scarce amount of times heâd stoop to kiss your cheek, though youâd tell silver-tongued tales if itâd guaranteed you an audience. when you learned how to smile at the right times, and that flattery would get you everywhere, it soon became apparent that charm would pave the yellow brick road to success even when your lack of drive couldnât.
     the road you followed â gum-snapping, roller-blading, friendship bands all up your arm â eventually led you to radcliffe. bright-eyed and gingham skirted, youâd always known you were more. there was a hunger in you to be something extraordinary, a want so adamant to be imagined and desired that it was almost savage. in leather-bound volumes and a circle of stones, you were helen of troy, the girl for whom theyâd launch a thousand ships. but thereâs so much rage within you, collecting like sawdust in cavernous parts. hockey helped. there was something grounding about the feeling of a stick clasped in your hands. sweat. stiff knuckles. feet pounding the earth. the smash of wood against flesh in the scram of a game, passed off as mere enthusiasm. âslipped, sorry.â hockey is the one thing you had that was yours alone â a feral instinct that motivates you to play; something primitive within you that sparks an energy like no other. on the pitch, you feel alive. you feel like a god.
     hello, its nora again ( she/her, gmt ) n this is the ethereal but spoiled alma olive putnam (she goes by all 3 names cos sheâs pretentious as fuck). ive never used anya taylor joy as her fc before but anya has a smile that looks like she knows something u dont and thats completely almaâs vibe so weâre gonna try it out. she was raised in a farmhouse in vermont, big horse girl energy. very hungry for everything life has to offer. wakes up and smells the success in her blood. luvs the smell of libraries and listening to french music from a tinny record player in knee socks. here is pinterest. bio is below the cut, like this post to be bombarded with plotting messages but i might forget or get shy tho so pls message me x
application template.
ANYA TAYLOR - JOY  ,  CIS-FEMALE  ,  SHE/HER     â     according  to  the  school  records  ,  ALMA OLIVE PUTNAM  has  been  attending  sacred  heart  for  the  past  three  years  .  i  last  saw  them  hanging  around  the  sacred  heart  cathedral  ;  i  think  they  were  studying  the  stations  of  the  cross  with  a  smile  like  a  well - kept  secret.  at  twenty  -  one  years  old  ,  alma  has  been  studying  classics  and  get  this  ,  i  heard  that  she  has  made  a  fortune  on  the  black  market  by  forging  renaissance  art  to  sell  to  collectors  â  figure  itâs  true  ?  everyone  around  here  always  associates  them  with   neck  scarves  tied  around  your  throat  the  way  they  do  in  french  new  wave  films , running  barefoot  through  the  woods  drunk  on  red  wine  and  untapped  power , a  smile  like  a  locked  door  that  speaks  only  in  riddles  .  in  the  time  since  these  strange  happenings  ,  they  have  have  encountered  any  unexplained  occurrences  .     (  written  by  nora  ,  24  ,  she/her  ,  gmt  )
aesthetics.
a red beret nestled on top of bright platimum locks, neck scarves tied around your throat the way they do it in french new wave films, running barefoot through the woods in feckless hedonism, china dolls with porcelain faces lined against the walls of your room, the mona lisa smile, knee-socks tugged over the hockey grazes on your knees, a forged botticelli drying on your easel, ophelia floating in the middle of a lake.
proceed w caution, tw for death, drugs, alcohol, violence
the short form. (still long af tbh)
â studying classics cos she thinks it makes her sound smart, but actually hates fuckin latin and just loves learning about feckless hedonism and the festivals of bacchus and writing about how all women in myth are literally forgotten. was expelled from princeton in her first year so her parents basically paid her way into sacred heart and the board really liked her in her interview. i think the governors kind of expect to see her in the supreme court one day or st
â Â born in vermont in a big old farmhouse. her great-great-grandfather moved to america as an immigrant and worked on a plantation, made his way up cos he could speak a lot of languages and therefore win more people over. for the last two generations, putnam men have owned the farm and do little of the dirty work. big in the meat industry.
â both her parents had large personalities, so almaâs never really been shy around adults, even as a kid sheâd speak to them in a forthright, confident manner, and because she was always surrounded by adults, sheâs always seemed a bit wise beyond her years.
â very much a consolidation of every character in the secret history. has a morbid longing for the picturesque at all costs. obsessed with w.h. auden and the beat poets. â âaestheticism is the only thing worth pursuing and even that is pointlessâ â is majoring in classical civilisation. can read ancient greek and latin. also speaks french.
â studies hard and plays hard. she gets top marks but itâs because academia is literally her life, she loves the smell of libraries, the ancient smoke of learning, of feeling like old wine in a new bottle reincarnated from the bones of some old, dead witchy woman who invented a cure for cowpox or somethin.
â isnât a foward-planner, however. alma prefers to leave her options open, play the field, live in a spontaneous manner so her study style is mostly cramming a few days before a test, or staying up all night writing an essay on a massive adrenaline boost powered by red bull or probably adderall, scribbling (or typing) furiously into the night.
â pretentious motherfucker. loves poetry, especially the romantics, loves morbid ones too, edgar allen poe, sylvia plath, allen ginsberg, she just loves them all. canât get enough. her favourite films are likeâŠ. wanky artfilm independent european cinema. especially french new wave. âwhat do you think of goddardâs work??â while snorting a line off someoneâs sink at 5am on a school night, but you can bet sheâll make it to that 9am class. â very intelligent and beautiful and knows both of those facts. plays devilâs advocate. humanitarian, vegan. â judgemental but takes great care not to appear so. petty and vindictive
â obsessively devours mystery and thriller novels. she herself is a gillian flynn book waiting to happen. â tries to be an enigma. wants to be mysterious and unreadable because thatâs what books have taught her makes women desirable and interesting and cool. very amy dunne in the way she expertly reinvents herself to suit her audience, when she wants to impress
â an incredibly talented dancer. she was accepted to juliard to study ballet, but after an injury to her foot she had to refuse her place, something that sheâs incredibly bitter about. she went to princeton instead to study classics for a semester, before being expelled.Â
â alma comes from a family of high-end art dealers. while her parents paid her way into the school, that was mostly due to previous expulsions, not low intelligence. sheâs incredibly intelligent but will only put in effort when she deems the cause worthy. sheâs frustrating to teach, because she requires evidence, truth, in order to accept something as worthwhile. she plays devilâs advocate, but academically sheâs brilliant.Â
â she can recognise any renaissance artist just by their brush strokes. her aunt and uncle deal antiques and art, and from an internship with them after her expulsion from princeton, she learned how to market and sell art, how to recognise originals in contrast to fakes. from this, alma began to produce counterfeit art and sell it off as the original work to the contacts she had made in her internship. itâs disloyal, but itâs powerful.
â act like the flower but be the serpent under it. is a user. manipulative. leads people on. will throw another student under the bus to demonstrate her own intelligence and integrity â heavily involved in the theatre society. loves attention. â has an addictive personality. seems unable to do anything in a small dose, she has to let it utterly consume her. with sports, sheâs fiercely competitive, runs track, played lacrosse at school, now is a cheerleader probably. with alcohol, itâs never a shot, itâs a whole bottle â wine or whiskey â sheâll be table dancing before the nightâs up and making out with someone sheâll regret in the morning.
â her clothing style is likeâŠ. vintage thrift store but make it preppy. berets and cute hats, neck scarves, large fluffy cardigans or like those leathery jackets with big suede fringes on them, mini skirts (very 70s), and knee-high socks or boots. quite often sheâll be in sports kit, maybe a cute tennis skirt, n when sheâs feeling casual sheâll wear like, a talking heads tshirt with a pair of mom jeans and converse, but otherwise, the library is her catwalk. â relates to ophelia from hamlet and sibyl vane in dorian gray. weirdly obsessed with women who commit suicide. loves jackson pollock paintings and abstract art. â likes old things. old books, old music, old houses, it reminds her of happier times like when she wasnât alive. buys all her music on vinyl and has a gramophone because âthe sound quality is betterâ kfdsjj.
plots.
here are some generic wanted plots but by all means message me so we can flesh them out more if any strike ur interest:
study buddies !! someone who is equally unprepared and so spends all night in the library with alma before a big deadline, maybe they even met in the library
if theyâre from new england or vermont, then cousins . second cousins / extended family / family friends â Â probably spat volavons on your character once as children, omg childhood friends !
honestly someone who is fully in love with her or crushing on her that she can just break would be sweet :/ or on the other hand someone she unexpectedly gets feelings for and actually wants to guage her own  eyeballs out bc of it
frinds !! unlikely friends !! toxic friends !! former best friends separated by sporting or academic rivalries !
hockey / cheer friends who are on other teams but who she absolutely loves playin against!!!
fellow academics who like meeting up to discuss latin and greek ! gimme a secret society bonding by their love of ancient learning
i reckon sheâs in a lot of societies, definitely the film club, maybe works as a projectionist at the uni cinema if they have one so give me ppl affiliated with that, give me fellow wanky pretentious art-lovers and poets and historians who will go to museums and galleries with her and listen to the velvet underground on vinyl
people she gets mortally fucked off her tits with at parties
people who think she is throwing her academic potential away by caving to hedonistic impulse
a secret society !!! honestly i would die for a slug club esque thing in which the children of notable families are invited to dinners or almaâs also an art forger, so maybe like a club of students set up to basically forge paintings and documents from the university special collections
people she has drunkenly made out with, hooked up with, or regularly sleeps with casually, maybe even a friend w benefits she is repressing feelings for, i love angst,
people she used to date or unrequitedly likes, but to them itâs just a physical thing, give me all the thirsty angst plots, and maybe some softness too, i need some religion in this girls life, she is a roman catholic after all
full biography.
alma olive putnam.
intro.
    the girl is a knife. razor-sharp, double-edged, the bright shine of a two-faced, lovely thing. silver like the secrets you magpie thief from other heads. youâre a scavenger of knowledge, of tidbits, of gossip to lock away for later use and late-night re-inspection. a mind is like a clock if you get to learn the pieces. bit by bit, you dismantle the inner workings of the brains that tick around you â how easy it is to change itâs path, how words and their meanings can make a person laugh or cry in an instant. to have the power to control that is to be a god. itâs the power trip you crave wielding pom-poms in your hands; a possessive need for control that a younger you, small and weak, never had as a child. small lips, smaller smile, a doll clutched in your too-hungry fingers, hard enough to shatter the bones of a real infant. you cut your hair with your motherâs kitchen scissors before the autumn falls, rendering you out of season, unfit for the cold weather that beats against the nape of your neck, where a stick-and-poke marks the star you were born under ; the bull. âmama, when will i be a queen?â as soon as they find a crown small enough not to slip from your head.
biography.
    if you get hungry enough, they say, you start eating your own heart. hands red, stained by pomegranate seeds, the empty pulp of its shell splattered on your thighs you find yourself wondering â what would it be like to want? in the beginning, you never knew hunger. twins, born under the same star, you first, him second â a nuclear family. never a sister to compete with, you were always the cherry pie of your parentsâ hearts. white-haired, blue-eyed, beautiful baby of mine. the townhouse in vermont and the summer house in lyon, you wanted for nought, showered with attention, saddled with gifts - hardly a wonder you came to rely on such affection as a confirmation of your own worth.
DA 20 questions!
I was tagged by @acepavus! Thank you darling!
Iâm gonna tag: @apostatetabris, @dirthara-mama, @wicked-eyes-and-wicked-hearts, @star--nymph, @red-wardens, @vvakarians, @trans-aloth, and anyone else who wants to do this! Sorry if Iâve double tagged you all!
--
01) Favourite game of the series?
I gotta go with Inquisition. I love all the maps and the characters Iâve gotten to make through the games. Itâs a beautiful game.
02) How did you discover Dragon Age?
I saw art of Dorian around and figured out he was from dragon age and that he was gay and I was instantly hooked on wanting to play the game. I hadnât ever seen a video game before with a gay man in it and I was desperate for LGBT content and validation. Dorian has been immensely important to me in helping me realize my identity.
03) How many times youâve played the games?
Iâve played origins all the way through four times I think. Iâve played da2 three times, twice with my main Hawke and then another Hawke. Iâve played inquisition at least six times with Darva and Iâm playing Dimitri for the fourth time. Iâve played that one the most by far.
04) Favourite race to play as?
Elves! I love the elves of dragon age so much
05) Favourite class?
Dual wielding rogue by far along with archers. Rogues are one my favorite classes ever. I do have a soft spot for mages and warriors thought
06) Do you play through the games differently or do you make the same decisions each time?
I try to make little sorts of different choices. Iâve both allied/conscripted the templars and mages before on different little games and Iâve both banished and kept the grey wardens. Iâve never put Gaspard on the throne himself, but Iâve done all the other ways Halamshiral can end up. Iâve only ever not drank from the well once and the was because I was playing a human. I try to mix it up a little each play through for variety sake. Plus I love Calperiaâs story so much more than Sampson, so I do side with the templars on occasion. But I am a mage loving gay.
07) Go-to adventuring group?
My Origins go to gang for Eth is Shale, Wyne and Alistair and Slivayn is usually Wyne, Shale, and Zevran. DA2 is a whole grab bag of people, but I usually have one mage, one warrior and a rogue + my mage Hawke. Â My crew for inquisition depends on who Iâm playing. Darva mainly roles with Cassandra, Vivienne and Dorian while Dimitri runs with Iron Bull, Sera and Solas.
08) Which of your characters did you put the most thought into?
Dimitri and Darva are at a big ole tie with Eth coming in second place. Dimitri is my ever evolving kiddo mainly bc I play a TTRPG with him as my PC, but Darva is like that comfort character where I truly see myself in. Eth is my precious little complicated warden child who I revisit on occasion because I forget how much I do enjoy origins.
09) Favourite romance?
Oooo itâs a hard tie between Bull and Dorian. Dorian was really like that gateway--along with dragon age in general--into me making gay characters explicitly and having them represent me. He made me feel okay with who I am and seeing that blatant love between men was something I had never seen. It was kinda the same with Bull, but he was also like that shattering of men having to preform to a certain degree of manliness to be seen as valid. Bull is manly af, but he loves the color pink. Masculinity doesnât have to be as society defines it.
10) Have you read any of the comics/books?
I have read the Magekiller comic, but that was about it. I wanna read the books, but having the energy to do it. Does reading the TTRPG book count? Or the World of Thedas books? lolol
11) If you read them, which was your favourite book?
I havenât read any of the main book tbh
12) Favourite DLCs?
I loved the Return to Ostagar DLC. That one was full of a great atmosphere and just generally quite sad. I liked Mark of the Assassin best out of the DA2 DLCs because it was humorous as well as having good drama going on. A very fun time even though it was a bit of a pain. Trespasser is probably my favorite DLC for Inquisition mainly because of the run through the elvhen ruins at the end of the DLC to get to Solas. Itâs throwing everything you have because this is the end at the enemy and I love that.
13) Things that annoy you.
Ehhh most of my annoyance come from the lack of mlm romance options in the game and the treatment of characters like Sera and Sandal who are coded as neutroatypical. But, most of my qualms come from fandom and the rampant homophobia, transphobia, racism and white-washing everyone does. Ya shitty fandom.
14) Orlais or Ferelden?
Ferelden, personally.
15) Templars or mages?
Mages as always.
16) If you have multiple characters, are they in different/parallel universes or in the same one?
I have multiple characters across two world states, my canon one being Eth Tabris, my dual wielding rogue warden who romanced Alistair, Bryn Hawke, my force/blood mage, who romanced Fenris and Darva Lavellan, my dual wielding rogue who romanced Dorian. I also have other Lavellan's that go along with Darva like Fisk and Livonah. Then I have an alternative world state with Slivayn Mahariel, an archer rogue who romanced Zevran, then Farlan Hawke, my two handed warrior who romanced Anders, and then Dimitri Enallasani, my mage elf who romanced Bull. Dimitri only has Daniel as his other sort of important character.
17) What did you name your pets? (mabari, summoned animals, mounts, etc)
Eth named her Mabari, Witt, after her brother who was sent to the Circle when she was 16. I cannot remember for the life of my what Bryn named his Mabari, rip. Darva ends up with a Mabari in Kirkwall just named Daâlen. Slivayn named his Mabari Tamlen after his clanmate and lover. I canât remember what Farlan named his Mabari, RIP. Dimitri has an Anderfels Hart he raises later on named Ghilan after his Keeperâs old Hart and he has a great horned owl named Falon who he rescued.
18) Have you installed any mods?
Nope! I play all my games on console, so no mods for me. I do want to get a good gaming computer after I graduate from college so I can indulge in some mods for Dimitri and Darva and learn fly cam. I would really like to have Dimitriâs vallaslin in the game and more dalish outfits for my kiddos. Alas, I am stuck with what I have for now.
19) Did your Warden want to become a Grey Warden?
Wanting to become a Grey Warden wasnât something Eth thought about wanting or not wanting. She was ready to die for having saved Shianni and that would have been enough. She kept her safe and that was her duty. Duncan thought she was worth the risk and she accepted that if this was going to be her new duty, it was going to be her new duty.
Slivayn didnât want to be a Warden at all. Duncan had to conscript him and even then he hated Duncan for a long, long time. He didnât get to see if he could save Tamlen at all so he was intensely grieving and he was torn from the only home he had ever known. Ostagar was his first experience with humans who werenât out to kill him and his family.
20) Hawkeâs personality?
Bryn is firmly in the Purple Hawke camp, but strays into Blue on occasion. Farlan is a firm divide between Red and Purple.
21) Did you make matching armor for your companions in Inquisition?
Yes, omg yes. My quizzies have their own color palettes I work off of. Darva alternates between Bear Fur + Plush Fustian Velvet + Infused Vyrantium Samite + Blue Vitriol and Great Bear Fur + Darkened Samite + Silk Brocade + Blue Vitriol. Dimitriâs changes from Snoufleur Skin + Drakestone + Darkened Samite + Higher Weave to Great Bear Fur + Darkened Samite + Dragon Scale. aka, Darva wears a lot of deep browns, blues and greens and Dimitri is a lot of reds, blacks and oranges.
22) If your character(s) could go back in time to change one thing, what would they change?
Eth wishes she would have done more to keep Shianni safe along with the rest of the Alienage. Her biggest regret is that she allowed what happened to happen.
Bryn wishes he couldâve saved his family. He covers up a lot of his grief with humor and deflection, but he hurts a lot for what he did. Part of him wishes he had done better with his mother, but he wouldn't admit it.
Darva wishes he couldâve saved his father; he knows he was only fourteen and that he would have gotten himself killed, but at times he thought that a better fate than having to deal with his mother and her all encompassing, smothering grief.Â
Dimitri wishes he couldâve saved his clan. He goes over what happened as much as he can, trying to piece together what he could've done to save his family. Itâs his lifeâs biggest regret.
23) Do you have any headcanons about your character(s) that go against canon?
Oooo could Darva being trans be one? Idk, that's a headcanon that doesnât much go again canon. Biggest one for him would be him leaving the clan at 18 and traveling around Thedas.Â
Dimitriâs whole origins and magical usage is a big middle finger at the canon for the dalish inquisitor considering he is sort of his own sect of elves who are drastically different than their southern counterparts.
24) Who did you leave in the Fade?
Ooo Darva leaves Alistair in the Fade because I canât bear to leave Bryn behind, rip. But Dimitri ends up leaving Loghain in the Fade. I canât give up my Hawkes.....
25) Favourite mount?
Me personally? I love the Pride of Arlathan mount. Darva mainly uses that mount and itâs his favorite. Dimitri loves his horse, the Amaranthine Charger. But, later on he gets his Anderfels Hart--which is a sandy colored breed of Hart that is larger and tougher than others of itâs breed. They bond with only one rider in their lifetime and will stand their ground, full of as much conviction as the elves who originally bred them.
non-American books wanted
EDIT: guys, thank you SO MUCH for all the recs, you are incredible! I gathered all of them and put them in this post - to see them pls scroll past the original request.
Little statistics before I get to the point: I read 30 books this year; half of them were by American authors; 1/3 were written by Poles (I read more Polish books than I expected tbh). Which leaves me with one French non-fiction book, one Russian classic, one set of stories by Chinese-American and one Mongolian 13-th century chronicle (âThe secret history of Mongolsâ which was amazing to read btw!)
I looked then at my Goodreads âreadâ list and decided: thatâs it. No more American authors for me next year. And itâs not that I despise American literature or anything: as in every country, there are very good and very bad books. So itâs really not as much about quality, as it is about way of story-telling and establishing story structure and simply: way of seeing the world. And I realised I wonât be getting enough diversity of that if I stay inside one - even if vast and diverse itself - country.
And besides, we are so surrounded by American mainstream media EVERY day and yet, new technologies and especially e-books allow us to reach books that were previously not possible to get in some countries, so why not use these possibilities?
So I kindly ask you to recommend me some books written by non-Americans, if you know any. They can be classics, contemporary, fantasy, YA, I donât really care. There is only one obvious condition: they must be translated either into English or Polish or eventually German (if they donât include a difficult kind of language).
So far I have on my list [list was included here, I deleted it bc this post got way too long as it was] Pls recommend me some more titles so I can fill this list up to 30 books! : )
* * *
EDIT: everyone, again, thank you SO MUCH for so many recs! I didnât expect such a big response, this turned out to be way over 30 books : )
I gathered all the recs I got from you and created two lists: my actual to-read list for 2018 consisting of 30 29 books so far, each of them from different country / ethnicity, and the ever-growing list of non-American books, where I put all of your recs and also sth from myself, divided by country.
I hope it will be useful for you as well! Thank you once again and enjoy. And if you have any more recommendations, donât hesitate to message me and I will add more books to the list : )
and finally, you can find both lists under the cut, because they are REALLY long.
THE EVER-GROWING LIST OF NON-AMERICAN BOOKS:
notes: 1) I only included books that were translated into ANY foreign language; âno English translationâ means just that: it hasnât been translated into English, but it might have been into your native or second language so give it a try! 2) in case when author is of mixed nationality, I put them under both of countries; and yes, this way some of US-based authors got onto this list, but thatâs only because they do not write about US 3) it doesnât show on my blog theme, but each book is linked to goodreads!
