i think what really kills me the most about the excerpt above is that, to me, it seems that what adora is describing wanting to do for catra, is what a person would feel for someone with whom they're deeply in love. but adora's been conditioned to serve, to sacrifice, to protect. she'll throw herself down into shadows, unsure of how far down she'll even fall, for catra. but she can't say she loves her.

i don't think she understands what her feelings are, she just knows that they're there. and so, in my mind, this innate desire to keep catra safe and protect her is the best way she can explain that feeling to herself, without being able to wrap her mind around what it really is at its core.

until she does. and thinks it's too late to ever tell catra or have the time w her she realizes she wants when she lets her own walls down in the crystal castle (cause imo, catra ain't the only one w walls dude, adora's just tend to box her in rather than keep people out) and she can't help returning an affectionate, gentle touch from catra, even though she knows it's not real - cause maybe that'll be the only way she ever gets to experience it. and then, it ends as unexpectedly as catra appeared. and she's gone - still gone.

until she's not.

a/n: because wincesties understood my vision for this pair. u don't have to know shit abt the boys or soldier boy. soldier boy is a superhero. he's like a twisted dark version of captain America and they're in HIS universe where Sammy ends up. no demons or monsters. only superheroes and normal ppl.

because everything is so different and supes are everywhere, Sammy feels lost and confused, magic and spells don't seem to work, all he wants is some answers and he can't even summon a mere crossroads demon, he feels helpless and he doesn't like it, at all.

Sammy really tries not to mope around like Dean– Ben. Ben keeps laughing at him, and tells him to relax a little bit because he's with the Soldier Boy, and nothing can happen to him when he's with him. Ben is not too awful to live with, driving from one motel to another, usually on a stolen car, and after breaking someone's arm or other body part for whatever reason, or maybe because Ben fucked someone's wife and they have to move out of their motel room.

Ben is messy, throws his shit around and doesn't clean much after himself, so Sam is left to pick up after him, and he's annoyed, because “Aren't military men supposed to be clean and tidy?”

Ben’s hand freezes mid-air, about to chug half a bottle of beer and stares at Sam. Sammy freezes too, like a deer in the headlights, realising this man can break every bone in his body without breaking a sweat. But all Ben does is smile, “I'm not in the army now, am I?”

Sammy nods, noticing the smile not reaching his eyes and just gathers the clothes in his arms, putting them in the hamper near the wall, letting out a shuddering breath as Ben watches him clean around their motel room as if he's his housewife.

Ben, who gets a bit too comfortable around Sammy, walks around butt naked, and hollers at him to order them some food, and laughs when Sam turns red and shouts at him to put on some trousers. Ben who likes to eat a worrying amount of pizza while watching the TV, a hand on Sam's thigh, squeezing hard whenever Sam moves a little, just so he doesn't leave. and when Sam finally complains that he has to go use the toilet, Ben turns his head and looks at him without blinking. For a second Sam is terrified he'll tell him to hold it, but all Ben does is slide his eyes down at Sam's jean clad lap and stares openly at his groin. He doesn't say anything for a long time then takes off his hand from Sammy's thigh, “Go, and bring back a six pack with you, Sammy boy”

Sam slides out of the sofa, sweat collecting at the nape of his neck, his brain screaming at him to run away, to run and never look back because this man was not his brother. He may look like him, behave like him to a certain extent, but Sammy can't leave him, he needs Dean. in whatever version he can have him.

Sam also realises that this man sleeps like shit, he sleeps for short intervals at a time, waking up shouting from nightmares, his body surging up with energy and concentrated compound V running in his veins. Sam eventually pries some answers from him, after some quietly asked questions and giving him pitiful puppy eyes and Ben cracked. He was uncomfortable when he told him, tried to hide it, tried to make it seem like it doesn't haunt him still, but Sammy knows he's lying. Ben tells him they did experiments on him during WWII, injected him with all sorts of chemicals, fed him dreams of glory and American Patriotism, made it seem like he was saving the nation. Nobody is born like this, everyone was made into a Supe, and whatever they tell people nowadays on the Internet and Television, it's all bullshit.

Sam feels a little bad but tries to remind himself that this Dean probably committed countless of war crimes and God knows what else, if those theories on Reddit are anything to go by. and he understands why these theories would be popular on certain places of the Internet. Soldier boy was built to be a weapon, and he was but a man, driven by desires and emotions. He's broken, wrong, sinful and dangerous, but Sammy can't bring himself to be disgusted, not when he himself is too tired, so tired of not having what he wants, and all he wants is the one thing he can have, this Dean, this man who wears his brother's face.

He knows it probably makes him a shitty person to stay with this 105 year old racist prick, but this man looks like he's only in his 30s, walks like Dean, sounds like Dean, looks like Dean, even smells like him.

Sammy found that one day after he found himself burying his nose in the man's dirty t-shirts that were thrown over the sofa. He's embarrassed at his weakness and tries to forget how the smell of sweat, musk and something so Dean made him feel weak in the knees and an army of butterflies errupted in his stomach.

Sammy has also been close enough to smell him and feel the warmth of his body against his. It happened in the middle of the night, when Soldier Boy was once again woken up by a nightmare. So Sam blinked his eyes open and turned his head to look at him on the other bed, but a big warm calloused hand pressed the side of his head down on the pillow hard so he won't move. he can't move. not with the type of strength Ben possesses. Sam held his breath, praying Ben won't snap his neck in half, mistaking him for an enemy soldier, mind broken, fractured and riddled with PTSD.

But all Ben did was lean down, his hot breath washing over Sam's face, his body frozen in fear. He didn't say anything for a long time, and Sam knew he was looking at him, then he whispered in his deep and heavy voice, “Sleep, Sammy.” Sam’s heart jumped in his chest, and he bit his lower lip so he wouldn't whimper and felt his mattress dip. Ben slid under the covers, easily pushing Sam’s body further in the bed, making space for himself, practically plastering himself to the back of Sam’s body, throwing a heavy arm over Sam's waist, getting comfortable right behind him, their bodies touching from top to bottom.

Sam gulped and parted his lips, breathing out a weak, “Ben-”

Ben didn't like that. So he clasped a hand over Sam's mouth, pressing hard, covering both his mouth and nose at the same time, Sam fought against his instincts telling him to kick that man as hard as he could but he can't, he may as well just ask Ben to kill him right then and there.

Ben lifted his head and breathed down Sam's ear, his nose touching his flesh, “Shut the fuck up, Sammy,”

Sam nodded before he could help it and Ben let go, finally granting him permission to breathe. While Sam gulped in oxygen and Ben got comfortable on the bed, squeezing Sam to his body like a giant pillow, “You're warm,” Ben whispered, sounding tired.

Sam’s heart broke a little, but that didn't last long when Ben added, “Shame you don't have a warm cunt to match,”

And right as he said it, he rolled his hips and Sam felt like throwing up at what obviously was Soldier Boy’s half hard cock right against the crack of his ass, then he settled, Sam listened for Ben's breathing and his heart finally stopped hammering in his chest when Ben's breathing evened out and he was surely asleep.

Sammy was terrified, but also safe at the same time, but also simultaneously in danger of losing one of his limbs if Ben has another nightmare or kills him in his sleep. Sam has never felt this close physically before to Dean, never so warm and cozy, but also so horrified and sick to his stomach because this isn't how brothers are meant to behave. But Ben isn't his brother. That's one of the first things he ever told him. That he wasn't his brother.

Sam closes his eyes tight and prays for his safety and for a way to go back home. And shivers when he realises he wants to take this man with him back home. Obviously nobody gives a shit about him in his world, and he'd do much good back in theirs. Soldier Boy was strong, a supe, and with the right training he can easily be one of the best hunters there was. And Sam is sure Dean wouldn't mind, not when this man kept Sam this safe for so long, looked after him, and plus this man may not be Dean, but he's still family in a way, and Sam's not very keen on leaving him behind. (That's Sam convincing himself that he'll be the one deciding to take this mfer with him when he knows that Ben will demand to go back with him, Ben won't let Sam leave him alone.)

i think Masky is one of the more scarier guys to have stalking you on this lineup honestly. hot? yes absolutely. terrifying to see constantly out of the corner of your eye, sitting at the bus stop outside your job, standing in the parking lot of the gas station by your apartment complex and staring up into your window? he's haunting. he doesn't go up to you, will go completely brick wall at you if you try to come up to him, and you can never tell what emotion is going on behind his eyes. the few times you've walked closer to him, likely on the street in the earlier stages, he looked hungry. like he was waiting and watching for your guard to be down to do something.

if he knows you'll be out, he'll get into your house to steal some of your clothes- likely your underwear (creepy crawler) and a sleep shirt

you will never see him without the mask on. point blank. not to smoke, eat, anything. he is not human or himself when he's around you; he needs to absorb everything about you.

i don't think of him to be the type to film you, would rather be there in person 24/7. it feels more personal to him.

one of the few guys that feels guilt about what he's doing- he knows how scary it is to feel watched all the time. how awful it is to find out you were right.

he’s embarrassed of himself; he’s prided himself on being stoic and independent for so long that this sudden urge to love you and watch you and know you gives him waves of shame

watches from afar, would definitely try and avoid letting himself get too close to you in person. he’s ashamed of it, but he can’t help himself- he needs you, even if at a distance.

Richter x Female Reader : Night Creatures.

"Richter!! Behind you!" Maria shouts at Richter seeing one of the night creatures trying to stab him from behind but fails.

"This thing keeps coming nonstop!" Richter replies as he kills one of them. "I feel like someone is controlling them but who?" Annette said as she protected Maria backs.

"weird...feels like we're missing a piece here" He mumbled to himself.

"If all 3 of you would look ahead. That's probably the master" said Alucard while glaring at the dark corners of the night street.

"get ready! It's about to strike!" They all get to their fighting stance. As the creature launched itself to them long claws were sheathed from behind the hood.

Cling!

"AGH!!!"

"Richter!!" As the creature attacks him with its long claw Alucard manages to launch some attack by cutting the left hand of the creature.

The creature growls before Maria summons her birds and attack it making the hood falls off.

It is revealed to be a female night creature. Long hair,sharp teeth,6 eyes. As if the creature stares at their souls.

"weirdly enough she maintains some of her...human face" Alucard comments on her appearance.

She growled at them before launching herself at them.

"Take cover!!!" As Annette shouted. Richter's world seems to be slow as the creature attacks him first.

Luckily Alucard managed to save him. "What were you thinking! Standing there like a prey!" He scolded him.

Richter was still in shock not by the creature attacks but with the creature's appearance.

"Richter are you alright?" Maria asked him.

"I...I..." As he looks down he remembers a promise he make

Flashbacks (yes flashbacks)

"promise me you come and protect me when I need help" a young girl probably 3 years old asked a young boy.

"I promise!" As they linked their pinky finger they laughed at each other's behavior.

Flashbacks end

I...I kno---" the creature screams again before attacking them.

"ugh it won't stop attacking...even when we are already blind it's eyes!"

Richter only remains silent. He slowly walks to the night creatures. "What are you doing!" Whisper Annette in case the creature hears her.

"just take cover...tell the others I handled her"

Annette just looks at him weirdly and runs to the others. As they all hide behind a ruin wall they watch Richter getting closer to the creature.

"hey beautiful..." The creature turns around and lets out a scream. "I was too late aren't I?" He let out a sad chuckle.

"... it's always like this, always late to save you even now I'm such a useless friend"

As the other 3 listened to his speech, they were starting to understand what was going on.

"do you know I actually got beat up by a female?" As he said, the creature attacks him again. He uses his whip and binds her leg together. Then he uses his power to freeze her leg after binding them.

The creature snarls at him.

"I'm sorry please... please forgive me" he used his power to freeze her whole body leaving only the head.

She growls and snarls at him. As if warning him.

"hey hey look it's me? Richie the 'wannabe hero' remember?" The creature seems to calm down.

"I am Alucard! And I'm gonna kill you!" As Richter said it in a playful tone. The creature seems to recognize it as its blinded eyes widen.

(the others feel cringe at that especially Alucard he looks like he got betrayed.)

As Richter cupped the creature's face. He brings the creature's forehead down and kisses her forehead. The creature truly calms down this time. It cries at the feeling.

"I'm sorry...I'm sorry it's all my fault isn't it...I failed once again." He cried out. The creature screams once again trying to escape his grasp.

"please! Please!! I'm begging you! Stop I'm sorry! It's my fault! It's my fault!" As the final stroke the creature breaks out from the ice and slams Richter to the wall.

Alucard sensing this quickly attack the creature.

"YOᑌ lie!! ᎽϴႮ ˡᶦᵉ!" The creature cried out in pain.

"ꪱׁׁׁׅׅׅtׁׅ 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻 ｉｔ ｂｕｒｎ!! 𝘼𝙜𝙝!!! ՆɿคՐ სiმჁ!!"

Richter try to reach out for her but was stop by Annette.

"you have to let her go she's suffering."

"I can't..." He sob. "I need to keep my promise and yet I failed once again! Why! Why!" He punches the floor in anger.

"I was always late to save her. And yet she was always on time to save me. Why am I so useless!" He cry. Tears flowing nonstop.

"𝑺𝒂... ᵥₑ.... ₘₑ" Richter eye widen.

"It's now or never Richter!! You need to save her!! She's hurting! She's suffering! Keeping her alive just makes her suffer more!"

He screams in anger and runs to the creature. He uses his power shaping them like a dagger and slams it to the creature chest 5 times. The creature chokes on its own blood and falls backwards.

Richter walks to the creature still crying and cradles it. He screams and screams and screams till he loses his voice.

"I'm sorry...I'm sorry y/n." He sob.

"ₘₒ... ᵣₒₙ" he heard the creature mumble and smile. "Yeah...I'm a moron"

As the creature chest stops moving it indicates that the creature finally meets its end.

"someday...I promise I save you just in time"

He carries the creature and buried it near the lake.

"who is she actually and how did you recognize her?" Maria asks watching Richter bury the corpse.

"...her leg" he smile. "Her leg?"

"she has a burn mark on her left leg. She got it from a fire that happened when we were little. It was still there" he answered.

"now...she probably wishes for me to continue living so... who's gonna cook tonight?"

"as if!! We already cooked yesterday it's your turn!" Annette say and walk away with Maria.

Yes! Finally someone said it!

At first when I saw the interaction I went- hey he's being such a jerk- Ohhhhh wait! This is literally him wanting us to stay soo fricking bad, but Mr.Pridey McPridepants just can't admit it. OFC HE WOULD TRY TO IMPRESS US (even if this emotionally constipated man can't differ b/w chivalry and being an asshole). He's trying to so bloody hard to sweet talk his way into us staying. Even if he's being forceful and manipulative; it's because he's so shit scared of giving us the choice and then us choosing to go cuz he KNOWS wherever we going must mean a lot to us especially when we are going such great lengths to return.

Not to say, that this behavior is ok or good but at the end of the day isn't obey me about flawed and morally grey characters? Even the ANGELS aren't perfect and morally sound, and if I dare say, sometimes they make decisions even crueler than the demons. We are literally talking about the AVATAR OF PRIDE HERE! XD

Literally as soon as you look past the image that he literally puts up cuz he wants ppl to see him that way, you will realize that he really is just a soggy, pathetic man who can't put aside his pride to ask us to stay like a normal person XD Also to point out a lot of ppl LIKE Levi and Mammon BECAUSE OF their pathos lol.

I have always seen that there is SUCH a double standard when it comes to him. Ppl say that he's being too fake and only cares about his image and not his brothers, but when he does show his softer side, they say he's not being genuine or he's pushy or something of the sort. What most ppl fail to see is that he loves his brothers and mc, probably even more than his own life but he's just so bad at showing it because he is held back by his own trauma and sin. While that does not make him innocent... that does make him like his brothers. He acts this way because thats literally the only way he knows how to keep things in his control and keep his family safe and ppl fall for it ... LIKE IT'S NOT THE REAL HIM! TvT

I have this theory (might be a hot take idk?) that most of the ppl playing obey me are pretty young, so they don't like Lucifer because they are anti-authority (I also am, its not a bad thing) but this man is anything but Authority and Power. I might be a lucifer apologist lol but all I am saying is for ppl to look at him with the same open-minded lens they see the other brothers with and you might find him a lot more bearable and dare I say... likeable?

Phew, sorry for rambling in your inbox but I have some strong feelings for that stupid old man XD Also, this feels a lot similar to how expectations are so high and rigid for the eldest sibling whereas these same expectations become a lot less severe for the other siblings...

Firstly, thank you for calling him a soggy pathetic man, that gave me a good chuckle.

And YES! All of this, 100% yes. He doesn't want to admit that there are other things out there more important than him. Not just because of his Pride, but because he finally let someone else behind the walls he put up around his heart (we saw this around Nightbringer lessons 11 and 12, when he was ready to be THE enemy to protect his family, only to end up admitting to himself that he cared about MC just as much) and now, after all that, MC is determined to leave. I'm sure somewhere in his mind, he feels like he's failed.

He's puffing up his feathers as big as he can and screaming "look at me, look at me, look at me"! The big peacock man is flailing.

He's afraid. He's hurt. And so now these weird (and problematic) safety mechanisms are being put in place to protect himself.

Things in his mind are SO 'not fine' that now he's parading around trying to convince everyone (including himself) that everything is perfectly fine! Everything is perfect, everything is great, the outfits he chose are pristine, the food he settled on is text-book. It feels like he's following some sort of guide, like even the things he's saying have been pulled from a novel somewhere. It's not quite the way he normally speaks. If everything can play out the way he sees it in his head, there won't be room for error. Right?

And this isn't new behavior either. It was the ENTIRE plot of season 1 in Shall We Date. Lucifer locked Belphie away because he was worried of what might happen to his sibling. But in a way, 'protecting' his brother was mostly protecting himself.

He's worked so hard to create what he has, that he can't stand the idea of losing it all.

There's also a whole spiel I could go into about how everyone in the family fills a certain "group" role that keeps everything balanced and running smoothly (as smooth as it can get for them). For example, Mammon is the energy of the group, the drive. Beel is the motivator, the encourager. Asmo is the dreamer, etc. Lucifer has to be the guider, the manager, the authoritarian.

While, yes on multiple occasions, he's dismissed his brother's wild antics outright, there have been so many other instances where his brothers say "I want ___" and he gives them the advice or the structure they need to accomplish it successfully. OR even ending up providing it himself should his brother's wishes be genuine (Mammon's car for example).

When he's more on his own, he can drop that uptightness completely. As we see again in Shall We Date, when they're taken to the video game world, and when he doesn't have the worries and responsibilities placed onto his shoulders, he's capable of skipping classes to take a nap on the roof. And fully enjoys it, with a smile on his face and everything.

I've always known this, but Nightbringer actually gave me a big confirmation boost! In Wanders Whereabouts, Barbatos gives Lucifer a video call in which he tells Lucifer about all the recent trouble the brothers have gotten themselves into. Barbatos then proceeds to let Lucifer know that as their guardian, the eldest needs to essentially work harder to keep them in line. Then Barbatos sends the damages bill to him.

If he isn't constantly keeping his siblings in line, he takes most of the blame!

And thirdly, I think you are correct, yes. I think especially with the addition of Nightbringer and the anime, a good portion of the fandom is a younger demographic, which doesn't surprise me (listen I played Mystic Messenger when I was a preteen/teen, I was there when the dark texts were written). And a lot of what appeals to that demographic is the coming-of-age, rebelling against conformity sort of story.

And, I want to repeat, my initial post that you are referring to wasn't meant to come off as a "oh everyone is so stupid thinking Lucifer is this way, you should all love him" but more of trying to explain the fullness of his character since it can be harder to spot.

Like, people in the fandom almost always completely understand Mammon. He's not just, "tough and grumbly man who steals things". He's someone who struggles with admitting his own feelings, someone who lets his ambitions blind him from the troubles they can cause, and someone who at the end of the day, loves his family more than anything. And most everyone in the fandom fully understands this.

And yet, with Lucifer, a lot of people tend to take him exactly at face value.

There's a lot of things I could explain about him needing to play a "Parental Guardian Figure" while also just being their brother at the same time, and in a lot of media where the older sibling is forced to become a guardian, they get a lot of flack for not doing it correctly.

So my opinions on this are gonna be different from what I think alot of ppl in the fandom view HABIT as (not saying you can't have your own opinion. I literally don't care.) Like he isn't something that adapts to your personality, he's his own being and if he's in your head he's just himself but. in a different body. Like he will buy his own clothes, has has specific food he likes that his vessel could hate, he has his own intrests and likes and dislikes, he's just Habit. This is even shown in Home phone 2005 when habit is possessing a woman, nothing about his personality changed and even when possessing her you can hear his (male) voice speaking at the same time as her.

And within the lore of the canon (Beyond on emh confirmed) Habit cannot possess anyone other than Evan, it's impossible. (he can posses ppl that AREN'T the emh crew tho)

That being SAID... IT DOESNT MEAN I DON'T THINK ABOUT IT...

I think for Vinnie it would somehow be healthier than Habit and Evan entirely, I mean habit had to wear Evan down and force him to go through terrible things so he could get more control of his body, meanwhile Vinnie would just be so. idk,, willing? like Habit would promise protection if he could have control over vinnie's body and Vinnie would eagerly agree thinking that this could save all of his friends. Of course things would get messy when habit won't stop killing people but Vinnie would probably find himself enjoying it more And more, especially if habit is in his head whispering all these Sweet nothing's and is telling him how good he is and how other people don't matter And all that matters is them, the North Star and getting all the power it can provide. Habit would make Vinnie isolate himself and Vinnie would spend more time talking to habit than he would going to see his friends, he won't even talk to Evan. Habit will convince Vinnie that he's all Vinnie needs and that his friends are nothing but inconveniences to their plan. In this universe Slenderman cannot have control over Vinnie since that's what keeps Habit from being able to possess him in the first place. Habit would treat Vinnie like his most prized possession, if you think he was manipulating Vinnie before? imagine how much easier it would be to to convince him that the entire world would fall apart if Vinnie didn't listen to him. think Eddie and venom ifykyk. unfortunately I'm clouded by my vinbit shipper glasses so this might not even be what ppl agree with.

For Jeff I honestly don't really know? I feel like Habit would be ALOT more careless, he wouldn't care about throwing Jeff in front of a car, or getting his head blown off, infact he'd probably do it a lot more often than he did with Evan bc he just thinks it's that fun to torture him. It's like a game to him, yk??? That being said he can atleast appreciate the smarts Jeff can offer, he'd have to threaten Jeff, Jeff could wake up standing at the edge of a building and all he hears and feels in his head is clawing and banging and someone telling him to let down his walls and just "give up" and Jeff would, I don't really think it would take alot. Steph... oh Steph where do I start with her... This would literally be to torture her and to torture her alone. I mean do you want her to suffer? to be possessed by the same thing that killed every last person she loved? She would be doing everything she could to get him out of her head, and he would be taunting her the whole time, telling her that there is no escape for her, all she has to do is give in and it'll all get better and she REFUSES. This shit would have her literally losing her MIND she would see flashes of habits true face in the mirror and she would smash it to pieces, she would start going out of her way to get him out of her head (Shooting herself since the head is habit's "weak spot", ect) She would be determined, and when she ends up meeting the emh guys he'd make her kill Evan and the baby, I mean yeah Evan eating the baby was sad but what if it was Steph who did it that shit would be CRAZY. taking the life she gave. it would be a very fucked up situation I don't see a universe where they would ever be compatible. He would split her mind in half. In this universe Jessa has to be Vinnie and they need her for the Northstar and it would just kill her to see how poorly HABIT treats her. what do you think about ppl saying that the cauldron is corrupt means that maybe the elucien bond is indeed “fake” and that the trove trope links Azriel with Elain and that would be their plot

It's honestly funny that people are acting like they gained new information that somehow changes anything about mating bonds. All we really got in hofas is further confirmation that sjm is going to give everyone and their dog a mating bond, that it never goes away, and that mating bond = endgame. All of which we knew.

Setting aside the fact that that would supposedly be their plot - despite all of the actual world-threatening info they learned in hofas - let's talk about the cauldron.

We already knew that the Cauldron had been "corrupted". In acomaf, the Bone Carver tells Rhys and Feyre this:

“Long ago, before the High Fae, before man, there was a Cauldron … They say all the magic was contained inside it, that the world was born in it. But it fell into the wrong hands. And great and horrible things were done with it. Things were forged with it. Such wicked things that the Cauldron was eventually stolen back at great cost.

So this is not news. Why are they just now deciding that it means something?

Speaking of this reason, since Rhys knew in acomaf that the Cauldron was corrupted, and if every mating bond could be suspect because of that, then it stands to reason that none of them would be so hyped about mating bonds. Every character would be much more suspicious if they got one, and you know that Tamlin would be looking to delegitimize Feyre and Rhys's. But they aren't acting on that assumption, that the Cauldron is giving them something that is corrupt. If Rhys didn't know this info before talking to the Bone Carver, then he would have looked into it, knowing that Feyre was supposedly his mate. However, learning this info did nothing to keep Rhys from thinking that his bond was every bit as valid as he'd thought it was before. Feyre didn't warn either of her sisters, "hey, your bonds might be fake"??? If that information was supposed to be have implications for mating bonds, we haven't seen a single character act on that. For years in book time, and through a few mating bonds.

2. If the Cauldron were randomly making mating bonds, then we'd have to consider a few things, namely that it puts the validity of every single mating bond in acotar into question. Are we really going to go out here and say that chapter 54 of acomaf is meaningless? That Nesta and Cassian may as well cancel that mating ceremony because what's the point?

3. We don't know where mating bonds come from. Rhys, who knows more about the world besides anyone other than Amren, doesn't know where they come from. Rhys says maybe the Mother, maybe the Cauldron, but the fact is that the mating bond comes from SJM because she decides that when a couple is going to be endgame, she makes them mates.

4. If a person had used the cauldron to create a fake elucien mating bond, then... who? Why would they do that? They've been mates for 2+ years in book time and literally nothing has come of it? No one gives a fuck that Elain and Lucien are mates.

5. Mating bonds are from birth. It has been stated multiple times. It didn't happen because Elain went into the cauldron. It gets stronger when the sisters are Made and come across the wall, but it existed before that.

6. SJM has told us exactly what happens when a mating bond is rejected. In fact, from HOFAS, when Hunt was talking to Baxian about Danika:

“It was a potential minefield, to bring up his dead mate. To lose a mate was to lose half of your soul; to live without them was torture.”

From acomaf:

you were in love with another male, and had destroyed yourself to save him, and that … that I didn’t care. If you were going to die, I was going to die with you.

From acofas:

I still saw that moment, in my sleeping and waking dreams. How his face had looked, how his chest had not risen, how the bond between us had shredded into ribbons. I still felt it, that hollowness in my chest where the bond had been, where he had been. I'm just another one of the mathblr accounts here. I found your account when all the mathblr people were circulating your post around, about becoming a math major. When I clicked into your account, I saw, well, some depressing shit lol

But I used to be in your shoes when I was 16 - extremely depressed, actively suicidal. It was actually right around 16 when my regular dieting turned into an eating disorder. Lots of shit happened then lol, but I loved math. It felt ethereal, ideal, nothing like the filth that had become of my life, my body, my mind.

This isn't a letter from the future to the past, but it feels a little like it from my end. I empathize a little too much. Sorry in advance for the text wall.

The moment I moved out for college, I felt happy for the first time because I was finally away from home. I could do whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. Also the classes were good.

Things always get worse before they get better though. My self harm and eating disorder both got worse when I was left to my own devices.

My grades were somehow okay enough, especially in my math classes. I'm doing a phd in math now. It's one of the main things that keeps me going.

Nowadays, I'm not perfect, but I am coming out the other side... I find myself feeling grateful to have lived so long (I say, as if I'm old lol)

You may find that math is what keeps you here, but maybe it'll be something else someday. You aren't me, after all. Sleeping with Sebastian can actually be pretty speedy, if there's chemistry off the bat and you pass the 'vibe check' (not be a total dickbag or otherwise emotionally unattractive. Someone he feels he won't regret in the morning, especially given he's a virgin.) That speaks more to his intense touch starvation and willingness to use sex as another form of distraction and superficial human connection, though it's certainly possible to build a relationship with him from this foundation eventually (he's a soft boy deep inside who rly wants that real connection, he's just terrified of reaching out for it and expecting the other person to get bored and drop him anyway).

Winning his heart, however, is a process no matter who you are.

He's a very reserved individual. If he gets along with someone, he can relax enough to tease and be snarky but that's still with layers of walls underneath. He grew up emotionally neglected/abused in an environment of favoritism against him since about 7-8 years of age, which would fuck anyone up tbh. This has left him with a crippled self-esteem and natural wariness with people who try to get closer to him.

Even Sam had to earn his way, after he moved to Pelican Town. Abigail had it easiest because she and Seb grew up together. He's particularly aloof and avoidant with people whose personalities are different from his own: extroverted, arrogant, loud (god, he hates loud). He spends most of his time on his own, which he expects to be respected regardless of relationship status, which can put a snag on trying to spend time with him.

That said, there are chinks in that armor he's always wearing:

Keeping up a good banter with him will catch his interest; he loves someone who can tease and comfortably be teased back.

He's a bit competitive, so good games of pool can be an opportunity for him to show off and/or show you up.

Paying attention to him enough to notice things he likes or needs and act accordingly will surprise him, as he's grown to not expect it from anyone. (Honestly, just paying genuine attention to him at all is a good thing. As I said earlier, he's a victim of neglect.)

Understand his moods and where he's coming from when they aren't pretty. He's understandably got some anger/bitterness issues that can flare up with the wrong topics. He's generally levelheaded, so that tends to be more of a specific circumstance (his family, especially his stepdad Demetrius). Accept the uglier parts of him and he'll realize he's safe enough to show them and lower that much more of his guard. As he was always the scapegoat at home, that can be a very important form of development between you and him. Even if you fight, he's pretty good about coming back and owning up once he's had time to cool down and think. He'll hope that you're the same way.

His love language is Words of Affirmation. He craves validation more than he lets on. He wants to be wanted, to be enough. Give that to him sincerely, where he'll believe you mean it, and it'll go a long way. (His giving language is Acts of Service btw).

You can generally get a sense of when it is and isn't okay to approach him when he's outside alone. If he looks relaxed, just lost in his thoughts, he'll likely welcome your company (or at the very least tolerate yours). If he looks stiff and like he could glare a hole into the ground, maybe leave him be.

He likes to share opinions with ppl he likes, getting their perspective on things, being introduced to new ways of thinking. He'll be paying attention and remembering things about you just the same. If he finds you pleasant and interesting to talk to, he'll stick around.

He's infamously stubborn and independent, but he also takes poor care of himself. While he's normally resistant to being taken care of, in those moments where he can't argue or fight back, it really does give him some dokis when someone takes that time and effort for him.

Just get to know him, rly. As you are with him, he is with you. With patience and persistence, you'll work your way through his layers to the soft, vulnerable, sweet, introspective, observant, empathetic, compassionate, affectionate, considerate, and loving man deep within.

If you're going for his heart, the whole shebang, it takes some elbow grease to get there. He is a great guy, but also a damaged one. With all of that, everything, the best method to getting close to him really is just time and effort.

I promise you, he's worth it 100%.

Noel had been trailing a suspect for miles after he’d received a tip about suspicious activity on the west side of town.

The suspect in question was tailing their own unsuspecting victim. Noel knew he would have to act fast and keep the pace or his next victim had the potential to be robbed at gunpoint like the rest of his previous victims.

Noel knew this side of town well and if he headed them off at the corner of the next building, he could grab the victim and pull him into the alleyway before the suspect could round the corner and notice him gone.

Slipping through the backyards of houses, hopping fences, and running through the alleyway, he made it just in time to grab the victim by the collar and pull him into the alleyway and blend in effectively with the darkness by keeping themselves against the wall.

Noel kept an eye out as he watched the suspect, looking confused as he continued to walk past their location entirely.

Breathing a sigh of relief he turned to face the man he grabbed, who he currently had pinned between him and the wall, one hand cupping his mouth shut.

“You were being followed, I needed to get you before he could.”

He removed his hand and finally noticed the person beneath him was a priest, who now was turning the brightest shade of red.

Realizing the situation they were in, Noel’s knee between the priest's legs and his body mushed to his, did he catch the stutter slowly escaping the priest's mouth.

“Oh, I see. You’re a shy one, aren’t you?” He smiled before untangling himself and readjusting the priest to an appropriate standing position instead of straddling his leg.

They don’t drive out to FBBC from Austin. It’s residents of dripping springs and the surrounding areas that are FBBC’s core business. That’s who trivia, casino nights etc are aimed at, like any good local bar and similar

The thing is though, if local residents are their mainstay, their bread-and-butter, then why is it always all about Jensen and his fans? FBBC marketing is basically the same as TW - throw everything at the wall and hope something sticks and when all else fails, stick Jensen (and D) front and center and keep their fingers crossed.

If local residents are the ones they are catering too with all of these random events then why are there a bunch of SPN specific trivia nights? Why do they name some of their beers after Jensen's roles? Why do they keep having "events" with impalas?

Why are the only customers they ever mention Jensen fans? Every time Gino gives an interview about FBBC he mentions Jensen and his fans. Do we not remember where he called FBBC "Graceland for SPN and Jensen fans"?? And there was another interview he did recently (that I don't think I bookmarked unfortunately) where he mentioned that they are popular because of the owner (aka because of Jensen's fans). Why completely and continuously ignore your core customers when talking about your business? Its never a "we love the dedicated Jensen/SPN fans who come to visit, but we also have amazing local customers who keep our business running" (or something along those lines), its always just "Jensen is the owner so ppl come for Jensen and here are Jensen specific trivia night and Jensen role specific beers".

Sure they also have regular trivia and yoga and painting nights. I guess those are for the locals. But they otherwise publicly ignore their actual customers and instead cater directly to AA's and to a much lesser extent (but used when necessary) hellers - blue and green shot glasses anyone? Who do you think bought those out?

It is absolutely normal and fine for breweries and other similar businesses to have events and things to draw people in (especially in an area with a lot of other breweries), no one is saying that. What we are saying is FBBC has an identity crisis. They don't know how to promote it and so they promote Jensen and Jensen themed things which is absolutely catering to his fans. Are there fans who are local? Sure. But most of them aren't, so that as a promotional strategy is just... weird. That's relying on people making a whole trip/vaca just to go to a brewery, Those fans might spend a lot when they go, but they are only going once or twice. Its weird to cater to people who might never be able to go or might only go a handful of times.

Much like TW, they think Jensen's name and face are enough to carry a business. Them throwing everything at the wall and now this layoff post (grain of salt obviously, but if its true) it shows, yet again, that doesn't work.

Yes! All of this!!! And I'll add that if I were a local who didn't really care about Jensen or SPN, I'd pick a different brewery to go to than one who catered to a bunch of fangirls. If anything, FBBC is alienating the locals more than catering to them.

Cont'd: And I'm not even saying I necessarily want to see it. I just think it's really, really weird that it really seems like no one has EVER tried to write that. I mean shoot, even if you leave Videl out, no one's done it. Seems really odd to me, you know what I mean? I've even seen this scenario done with Mr. Satan, for crying out loud, and they included 18 in there despite being very happily married. But never Krillin and the "unhappy" wives. Just plain weird.

I totally agree. Ppl would rather turn a character who isn't perverted and good with women into Krillin- I mean a harem protagonist. Krillin fits the role so perfectly that its insane others don't make more content with him.

The lack of positive Krillin scenarios just reveals how many beta males and beta females there are in the fandom. And I hate using the terms "beta" & "alpha." But a true "alpha" takes care of his family's needs & is reliable. Sorry but, the Saiyans don't really take care of the needs of their women.

Bulma is super rich and Vegeta mooches off her so he can train all day.

Chi-Chi does most of the work while Goku helps out some but wants to leave to train often and does so more often in DBS.

The money of Videl's family is what bought everything for her family while Gohan is more concerned with books.

They aren't bad ppl, but they aren't alpha males. Family values is not something in the nature of Saiyans. Them sticking around their wives even for as long as they have is not like Saiyans who care more about combat (or books in Gohan's case). Compared to other Saiyans, they would be alphas. But not compared to Earthlings.

Saiyans are fighters, not family men. Saiyans are built for combat & derive pleasure form it while Earthlings are built to reproduce & have fun doing so. And Krillin keeps him infinite energy wife thoroughly pleased in multiple ways? The writing is on the wall.

And the only DB gal who might go for Mr. Satan is Bulma since he's basically "human Vegeta." The arrogance, believing his own lies, attitude, actually fearful when he can't bully those stronger than himself. But Bulma would regret getting with him just as she did when she first got with Vegeta.
