Setiap muslim seharusnya mengenal tuhannya dengan baik, yaitu: Allah ; satu-satunya Dzat yang berhak untuk disembah dan ditaati. Ma’rifatullah adalah puncak aqidah dan tauhid seorang muslim. Ma’rifatullah merupakan tolak ukur kualitas keislaman dan keimanan seseorang, karena untuk mencapai ketinggian iman seorang muslim harus tahu dan mengenal dengan baik siapa tuhannya.

Sure, this sheet is mostly the lake, but I didn’t want to leave the lake boring either! Here are some close-ups of the sheet as a whole—not just the streets.

Not only am I a proud Latino, but I’m also a proud Muslim! And not only that! I’m a proud Shi’ah Muslim! This plays a major role in the way I operate and the way I imagine this city in its entirety. Here we have some close-ups of Qur’anic verses and Muslim phrases that I decided to dress the lake up with.

The first one is verse 7:43 of the Qur’an—my favorite verse. “All praise due to God, the One Who guided us to this, and we could not have guided ourselves to it had God not guided us.” That’s my rough translation—you can find better online. As a convert to Islam, this verse resonates heavily with me. I was 17 when I became Muslim. I was about 23 when I came to understand that I leaned more Shi’ah overall. And it’s all history from there. Alhamdulillah.

The second image has part of the Shahadah (Testimony of Faith): لا إله إلا الله (There is no god but God). It also highlights some streets!

The third image is another verse of the Qur’an (76:3). This time I thought of it randomly and decided to add it to my map. I thought it went well with the concept.

‫إِنَّا هَدَیۡنَـٰهُ ٱلسَّبِیلَ إِمَّا شَاكِراً وَإِمَّا كَفُورًا﴿ ٣ ﴾‬

“Indeed, We guided mankind to The Path whether he is grateful or ungrateful.”

Again, guidance. For me it is everything.

The last two images show the other parts of the Shahadah—especially if you’re a Shi’ah Muslim. They say “محمد رسول الله” — Muhammad is the Messenger of God — and “علي ولي الله” — Ali (ibn Abi Talib) is the chosen guardian of God.

They also highlight many more streets! I just love when I can see who I am in my maps.

“Allah is the protecting friend of His good servants. He helps His good servants; He eliminates their difficulties and gives them guidance, peace and success in their affairs in this world and in the Hereafter. He takes them out of darkness into light and enlightens their hearts. Those hearts do not stay constricted and attached to the present, but stretch to times before the before and after the after. They come to know the Lord of realms, acknowledge His unity and oneness, and are honored by the highest level that can be reached by human beings, His friendship through being a good servant to Him.

Allah’s friends have eyes enlightened by and seeing with the divine light. They take lessons from all that they hear and see. Divine light shines through their faces : whoever sees them remembers Allah. There is neither fear nor sadness for them, for they do not know any other friend but Allah. They fear nothing except opposing Allah’s pleasure. They are tied to no expectation of anything from anyone except Allah.

Try to gain Allah’s friendship. Be friends with His friends and learn to be like His friends. Believe in what they believe, do what they do, reject what they reject, love the ones they love and above all, love the One whom they love most.

Abd al-Wali is the servant in who the friendship of everyone who is faithful becomes manifest. He is a friend to all those who are pure and devout.”

The Prophet (peace be upon him) says,

“The one who is not troubled by the troubles of other believers, and does not suffer because other believers are suffering, is not truly faithful.”

3. Ya rabb, make me of those who are patient and obedient to You and to my parents.

4. Ya Allah make me of the few You love, You Pardon and You shade on a Day when there is no shade but from Your Majestic Arsh.

5. Oh my Lord, increase me in Yakeen and Tawakkul in you. Let there be no doubt in my belief in Your Oneness, Your Majesty and Power.

6. Ya Rahman, shower your Mercy upon me and save me from disgrace on the Day of Reckoning.

7. Ya Allah Al Wali - The Protecting Friend, protect us from hearts that are not humble, tongues that are not wise, and eyes that have forgotten how to cry.

8. Ya Allah, increase me in Sadaqa-e- Jariya. May the legacy of my good deeds be never-ending.

9. Ya Rabb, perfect my Deen and my Worship. Save me from Faahisha and let me complete half of my Deen with someone whose heart is attached to you.

10. Ya Allah accept my good deeds and increase me in reward and Your Mercy. Wipe away my sins and pardon me completely.

11. Ya Allah, when I die, let my soul and my record of Deeds be with the Illiyeen. Grant me and my loved ones shade under your throne when there will be no shade but yours.

12. Ya Allah grant me, my parents, and family guidance, steadfastness and increase us in Imaan and taqwa. Keep me and my loved ones away from major and minor sins and from everything that earns your displeasure.

13. Ya Razaq increase me in my love for You and Your Prophet sallallähu 'alayhi wa sallam.

14. Ya Jabbar forgive me and my loved ones and increase us in Your Blessings and Provisions.

15. Ya Khaliq lead me to more opportunities to do good and seeking Your Pleasure. Help me expand my knowledge with sincerity and ikhlas.

16. Ya Wahhaab, Purify my intentions for Your Sake alone and let me not show off or take false pride. Save me from arrogance, pride, showing off and reminding of favors.

17. Oh my Creator and Sustainer, do not leave me alone. Bless me with a righteous spouse and children who will be the coolness of our eyes. Fill our hearts with a pure love that is pleasing to you. Bless us with spouses who will guide us towards your pleasure and with whom we will spend an eternity in Jannatul firdous al'aala.

18. Oh my Lord, make me of those who are patient and obedient to You and to my parents.

19. Ya Latfeef, save me from the Fitnah of Dajjal. And save me from becoming a fitna for others

AL-QURB AL-FARAIDH (Bagian 2)

Kabhi kabhi herani bhi hoti hai aik hatheli sy bhi chota aza kesy beqrar rakhta hai. Kesy becheni sy ratein jagata hai. Kesy sary jism , jazbat ko bechen rakhta hai. Aur wohi agar dil k halat achy hon tou zindagi mein any wali aafat bhi pareshan nahi karti. Dil ka sukoon >>> over anything else.

Allah calls Himself Al-Waliy— The Protecting Friend, the Ally — on five occasions in the Quran. He is the One who lovingly guards and guides His creation. Al-Waliy is the lord and protector of creation, showing the path to righteousness. He is the One who protects, guards, and supports the believer in this world and the next!

The Ally, The Protector, the Loving Guardian

Waliy comes from the root waaw-laam-yaa, which points  to four main meanings. The first main meaning is to be near and to be a friend and supporter. The second is to defend and guard (in a loving way) and the third main meaning is to turn towards something. The fourth main meaning is to be master and lord.

This root appears 232 times in the Quran in 12 derived forms. Examples of these forms are tawallaw (“they turn away”), awlaa (“is nearer or woe”), al-mawlaa (“the protector”) and awliyaa(“allies”).

Linguistically waliy (plural awliyaa) comes from the root word of wilaya, which is the opposite of enmity (adawaa).  A ‘waliy amr’ is for example used referring to a child’s guardian, who looks after his or her affairs, someone who is close and who takes care of the child.

Al-Waliy combines the near, loving, protective, and guarding attributes of the One who is also the lord and master of the universe! Al-Waliy Himself says: And Allah is the ally of the believers [Quran, 3:68] and Or have they taken protectors [or allies] besides him? But Allah – He is the Protector [Quran, 42:9]

The Allies of Allah and the Allies of Shaytan

Al-Waliy has awliyaa among the people and Shaytan also has his allies. Indeed there is no fear upon the awliyaa of Allah, nor shall they grieve; those who believe and used to fear Allah much. For them are glad tidings in this life and the Hereafter. [Quran, 10:62]

The allies of Allah ‘azza wa jall will have no fear nor sadness in this world or the next. And Al-Waliy will bring light into their lives: Allah is the protector of those who believe, He takes them out of darkness into light [Quran, 2: 257] and the allies of Allah will have victory: Whoever takes a Wali of Mine as an enemy, I will wage war on him.[Hadith Qudsi, Al-Bukharee]

Al-Waliy also mentions the allies of Shaytan and the conseqences of their deeds: As for those who disbelieve, their allies are the taaghoot who take them out of the light and into the darkness. Those are the people of fire, and they will be in it forever [Quran, 2: 257] and We have made the devils allies of those who do not believe. [Quran,7:27]

How Can You Live by This Name?

1. Strive to be Allah’s wali.

Al-Waliy says in a hadith qudsi: Nothing endears My servant to Me than doing of what I have made obligatory upon him to do. And My servant continues to draw nearer to Me with the supererogatory (nawafil) so that I shall love him. When I love him, I shall be his hearing with which he shall hear, his sight with which he shall see, his hands with which he shall hold, and his feet with which he shall walk. And if he asks (something) of Me, I shall surely give it to him, and if he takes refuge in Me, I shall certainly grant him it [Al-Bukharee]

Don’t think only scholars can be awliyaa; know that you too can be a wali of Allah ‘azza wa jall! How? By focusing on your obligatory acts of worship first, e.g. give priority to your prayer, like studying ways of how to concentrate better, pray on time, etc.  Then complement them by doing as many voluntary deeds as you can, studying the sunnahso you can apply the daily ways of the prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam to your life. The result is, Al-Waliyy will love you, and when He loves you He will guide you in using your limbs righteously. He will grant your wishes and protect you!

2. Strive for taqwa.

Unquestionably, [for] the awliya of Allah there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve. Those who believed and had taqwa of Allah.. [Quran, 10:62]. If you want to be a wali of Allah, build a relationship with the Quran and ask Al-Waliy to give you understanding of its ayaat so you will be inspired to live by them Al-Waliyy describes the risk of turning away from the Quran: Whoever turns away from the reminder of the Merciful, we will assign to him a devil, who will be a partner to him[Quran, 43: 36] Another great motivator to increase your taqwa is daily remembering and visualising Paradise. Study the names and attributes of Allah ‘azza wa jall to increase your fear and love for Him and pray to be included in the above ayah as one of His awliyaa.

3. Be a righteous friend.

Be a loving friend to others, protecting their rights. The prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: Allah will aid a servant (of His) so long as the servant aids his brother. [Muslim] Take any responsibility you have seriously in representing someone or supporting someone with their affairs.

4.Trust that Allah is the best ally.

Remind yourself that Al-Waliy is the best ally to turn to at all times and put your trust in Him. When two parties from among you were about to lose heart, but Allah was their Waliy. And in Allah let the believers put their trust [Quran, 3:122] Take comfort in the fact that He knows your enemies and He is your best Helper: Allah is full of knowledge of your enemies, and Allah is Sufficient as a Waliy; and Allah is sufficient as a Helper [Quran, 4:45]

5. Ask Al-Waliyy.

You will always be in need of the support and protection of Al-Waliy so ask Him to protect and assist you in this life, at the time of death, in the grave, and on the Day of Reckoning.

Wallahu ta’alaa ‘alem.

O Allah, Al-Waliy, we know that You are the most  loving Guardian. Make us of your awliyaa and guide us to complement our obligatory acts of worship with abundant voluntary deeds. Bless us with righteous friends, make us pious friends to other believers and assist us in turning to You and trusting in You only as our best Ally at all times, ameen!

Suatu hari, baru beberapa bulan mengajar saya dimintai tolong untuk membuat design bon yang mirip dengan bon dari salah satu toko ATK.

"Bu Julia kalau bikin design bon gt bisa?"

"Design bon? Bon dari toko gt bu?"

"Iyaa, buat nyamain ke laporannya."

Engga, ini gak bener. Ayo tolak ju. Meskipun niatnya baik, tapi ini termasuk tolong menolong yang tidak boleh ju.

"Oh buat kapan bu? Saya lagi ada tugas dari MK persiapan projek anak-anak. Belum lagi masih perlu nyiapin gambaran LPA buat rapat besok bu di yayasan. Kayanya gak bisa bu, gapapa kan?"

"Oh gapapa-gapapa, kirain lagi gak banyak tugas."

Buu, saya bisa saja memaksakan diri untuk menyanggupi permintaan itu. Bisa diulik, asal mau. Tapi nurani saya tidak mau, bahkan hanya sekadar untuk menyetujuinya. Ini tidak benar!

Kala PTI pertama ada seorang wali murid menitipkan bingkisan sebagai ucapan terima kasih karena telah mendampingi anaknya. Lalu ada perasaan gusar di dalam hati

Ini harta ghulul ju, tidak boleh.

Lalu saya menghubungi kepsek bertanya tentang aturan di sekolah terkait ini. Masih tidak tenang juga, memberanikan bertanya pada pihak yayasan. Mereka mengizinkan untuk menerima berbagai bentuk apresiasi wali murid terhadap guru anak-anaknya.

Engga, aturan agama yang saya yakini tidak membolehkan selama masih ada interaksi kedepannya sebagai murid dan guru. Engga, ini tidak boleh. Semoga Allah mengampuni apa-apa yang baru bisa saya ingkari dengan hati.

Puncak.

Setelah lelah rapat sore itu, saya banyak melamun di dalam angkutan umum. Bingung, apa yang harus saya lakukan. Saya menghubungi Ai

"Ai, aku mau resign aja. Gapapa?"

"Kenapa? Kecapean?"

"Aku diajukan oleh satuan pendidikan ke yayasan sebagai bendahara sekolah. Setelah mengamati satu semester ini, aku tahu betul jobdesk bendahara ini seperti apa. Terlalu rawan dengan hal-hal yang kotor. Aku takut."

"Ya udah resign aja, kalau itu gak baik buat kamu, hidup kamu dan urusan agama kamu. Rezeki akan Allah datangkan. Tapi cara kita menjemputnya kalau gak baik juga malah jadi gak berkah. Hidup di dunia sementara, jangan membebani diri dengan hal-hal yang berat pertanggung jawabannya nanti. Lagian Ai perhatiin jobdesk kamu tuh banyak banget sih, kamu malah jadi sering sakit dan gak ada waktu buat diri kamu sendiri."

"Aku mau istikharah dulu sembari nunggu keputusan yayasan. Kalau sampai minggu depan gak ada follow up. Aku fix resign yaa."

Saya pernah ada disituasi seperti ini, bahkan dulu mau tidak mau, suka tidak suka harus tetap dijalankan. Karena alasan tugas. Lalu Allah hadirkan ujian yang serupa. Ah, ini remidi. Karena yang lalu saya belum mampu meninggalkan, hanya bisa terus ngedumel sembari mengingkari. Kini harus dibuktikan.

Saya mengajukan resign, diam-diam tanpa diketahui orang-orang disatuan pendidikan. Sebulan kemudian di panggil oleh pihak yayasan, dilobi agar tidak jadi resign. Diberikan beberapa penawaran agar bisa bertahan. Tapi fitrah sebagai manusia yang belajar sudah merasa tidak nyaman. Keputusan telah dibuat, tekad telah bulat.

Paginya di panggil yayasan, sorenya dihubungi satuan pendidikan.

"Bu Julia, pihak yayasan sudah oke katanya terkait pengajuan menjadi bendahara."

"Nah itu Pak X dan Bu Y ngabarin, siapa tahu kalau jadi bendahara bisa bikin Bu Julia mau bertahan."

"Buu, keputusan ini insyaAllah bukan keputusan yang didorong karena semata-mata materi. Saya semakin cinta dengan mengajar sejak bertemu anak-anak dan guru-guru hebat disini. Cuma saya merasa tempat ini sudah cukup untuk menjadi tempat saya belajar. Saya menerima banyak kebaikan disini. Tapi pada beberapa persimpangan kita bisa memilih jalan yang akan kita lanjutkan untuk melakukan perjalanan kan bu?"

"Gak mau dipikirin lagi? Kalau Bu Julia gak nyaman sama lingkungannya, saya bisa ajukan untuk pindah satuan. Saya butuh teman yang sejalan. Jujur, saya butuh Bu Julia buat nemenin saya memperbaiki hal-hal yang bersifat prinsip disatuan ini. Kita bangun bareng-bareng."

"Bu, saya orang baru disini. Saya sadar kapasitas dan posisi saya. Kadang ketika kita gak bisa mengubah sesuatu hal, mungkin bukan lingkungannya yang salah. Tapi mungkin kita gak tepat aja, kitanya yang gak cocok. Jadi saya rasa mungkin saya perlu mencari wadah lain yang sejalan dengan value yang saya yakini. Itu saja bu."

"Pokoknya sebelum ketok palu dari yayasan, kesempatan itu selalu terbuka ya buat Bu Julia. Jadi sebelum ada pernyataan resmi dari yayasan, saya gak akan bilang ke temen-temen yang lain kalau Bu Julia akan resign."

Mengambil pilihan yang tidak umum bagi kebanyakan orang mungkin akan dicap idealis, gak realistis, cuma nyusah-nyusahin diri sendiri. Tapi, kalau dengan menjalani apa yang umum bagi kebanyakan orang lalu kita tidak bahagia, merasa tertekan, merasa bersalah. Kayanya terlalu sia-sia untuk menghabiskan sebagian hidup pada hal-hal yang sudah jelas bertentangan dengan value hidup yang kita pegang. Iya, kan?

Wadah yang saya tempati saat ini mungkin banyak disayangkan oleh orang-orang disekitar, tapi saya bahagia menjalaninya. Boleh, kan?
