EIHF again <3. I'm so excited to see your fic. You have no idea!!!!
1) I'm firmly convinced Rhaenyra left for Dragonstone without telling her father purely to punish him for EVERYTHING. And, damn girl, it worked. Had that man WEEPING. It's the first time she's ever moved to reject him. I think her message was, in part, "If you hadn't chosen Alicent--if you didn't keep choosing Alicent-- I would still be here." (Personally, I think she should've threatened to off herself a couple of times in those early years. She could have had him shaking in his boots, and it might have been fun for her.) I think he heard her message loud and clear, given the scene with Aemma's ring. You chose the wrong girl, dummy!
2) Otto's return sealed Laenor's fate. Marrying Laenor and firing Otto were two parts of the same deal to Rhaenyra. Viserys didn't uphold his part of the bargain, so she's released from her part. Daemon being there is some additional incentive, but I feel she's was already packing Laenor's bags anyway.
3) To me, every part of Viserys' actions at Driftmark are to get his brother and daughter back. He makes an overt offer to his brother and is rejected. I feel his siding with Rhaenyra after the fight/Aemond's injury is his plea for her to come back. (Also, he is just not very attached to that boy.)
Viserys is screaming. "I CHOOSE YOU." And it fails--on both fronts. Rhaenyra and Daemon are just exhausted. They choose each other, without him. And I really feel like that's why he went home, laid down, and never got up again. He checked out of life. Laid in that bed for six years, alone and defeated.
oooh these are really good points. i really like rhaenyra leaving for dragonstone as her finally rejecting viserys, punishing him for not doing More to defend her against his wife. after all shes done to try and be the good daughter for him. (and i agree!! it wouldve been fun if when rhaenyra made him fire otto she realized she maybe had a bit more power over viserys than she thought. and then used that to try and manipulate him more…) then viserys, in typical man fashion, doesnt realize what he has until its gone. doesnt realize how badly he fucked things up until its too late, and now his worst fears are realized and hes lost rhaenyra.
i had been looking at ottos return as viserys being like ‘well rhaenyra left me so i might as well take my ex back :/‘+both her and daemon being gone means theres no one back in kings landing for otto to be butting heads with. but thats a VERY good point that from rhaenyras pov otto and laenor were part of the same deal. so when she saw that he was back… if viserys isnt going to honor their deal why should she? daemon makes it easier, but rhaenyra is the one that had seemingly already planned how to get rid of laenor.
viserys at driftmark is the equivalent of him holding up a boombox on their front lawn at 3 am. its too little too late. both daemon and rhaenyra are tired of his constant push and pull, tired of trying to please him. why should they have to fight for his affection when its so much easier to find affection and love in each other? theyve finally snapped the leash hes had on both of them, why would they want to go back. so they leave him, alone. and viserys has now truly lost the only two people who really mattered to him. so he gives up. life doesnt matter to him without them. so he just lies down and waits for it to end. only realizing too late that by trying to hold onto them so tightly he was actually driving them away.

I remember this Twilight Zone episode where theres a hypochondriac dude who spends all his time in bed afraid he's dying of some thing or another. He has a wife who cares for him but she doesnt really believe hes ever dying. He ends up getting a visit from like.. the devil? Who makes a deal with him to give him immortality and he can never get hurt or be sick again but if he decides he hates it he has to spend eternity in hell or something I think.
Well of course he takes it. And then he starts testing out his new immortality. He confirms it works and he wants to raise the stakes so he decides to go up to the roof of his apartment building and jump off. Well his wife follows him up and is trying to stop him, and somehow I think accidentally she ends up falling off and dying. I think hes concerned at first but then hes like "wait, this could be an opportunity to give the electric chair a try (:" so he calls to confess to murdering his wife, which is kind of supposed to seem evil I guess even tho I pretty sure he didnt really murder her intentionally.
So then it cuts to him in jail and his lawyer (i guess) is like "I did good, theyre not gonna give you the chair you just have to spend the rest of your life in jail! :)" And then he is so distraught at the idea of that like its a cosmic punishment of some sort for taking the immortality and he calls upon the devil to just take him to hell instead.
So idk if there was supposed to be a moral of like... immortality bad, dont do it? Or if its just another "wouldnt this be fucked up?" type story, but either way, all I gotta say is that would not be me. Like first of all why did you think that surviving death in front of the government would even be a good idea? Like if they learned nothing could kill you do you not think they would still either put you in jail forever or just experiment on you? Also, why is being in jail forever so terrible that youd rather be in hell?? Hell?? For eternity? Instead of.. trying to break out of jail with your fucking immortality powers? They literally cant kill you, barbed wire cant hurt you. You could so easily escape, and you are IMMORTAL, you have forever to figure out how to get free but youd rather be in LITERAL CHRISTIAN HELL??
Anyway, I wouldnt have fucked it up, sorry Devil.

i had ANOTHER dream abt miraculous ladybug and this ones a LONG one. it didnt have your artstyle but time paris DID have lovely architecture such as: the bigass hollow tree stumps in breath of the wild, u know the ones big enough to fit a shrine and a half. anyway, the final battle is Happening, people get to wonder if hawkmoth is gonna bite the dust in real time bc its being televised. this is all taking place smth like 3 yrs in the future from season 4 of the show. so theyre like uhhhh Older Teens and certifiably Tired Of All This Shit. so! at the bottom of one of those tree stumps, cat noir’s identity is going to be revealed! oh no!! hes in a #crisis of the soul mostly bc getting revealed would be Bad but also he doesnt feel like hes helping ladybug anymore. he doesnt feel trusted. a classic tale of the villain manipulating a traumatized teen. and ladybug (looking out over a roof and yelling at the top of her lungs) is like “ABSOLUTELY NOT YOU LEAVE MY PARTNER ALONE.” and bribes hawkmoth away by dangling her own secret identity in front of him like a worm on a hook. it works a little too well. her identity gets revealed! cat noir is safe but in the shuffle hes lost his miraculous and marinette picks it up. shes got both and puts them on. tikki and plagg are like “MARINETTE ITS SO DANGEROUS TO WEAR BOTH AT THE SAME TIME” and shes like “im going to punch hawkmoth in the face” and off she goes.
cat noir is nowhere to be found bc now hes adrian! and she doesnt know that! but he knows shes marinette! drama! so now ladybug is re transformed (without activating the black cat miraculous) and is whaling on hawkmoth. she crashes thru my house which is definitely not in paris and tells me and my sibs we have to get out NOW so we book it and its at this point the dream reveals to me that mylene’s mom is chinese and i sit there like Now Hold On A Minute and my mom says “i told u so!” and i tell her “you dont even watch the show???” mylene was wearing a green cheongsam. i don’t tend to ask questions. also by this point i made a mental note to tell u abt this bc it only gets more batshit.
ladybug told us (and everyone that was running away which was a lot of ppl) that if they find cat noir they shld tell him that ladybug loves him. then she has this Stellar idea. she finds nadja chamack and her camera (bc theres only two newspeople in all of paris and one of them runs reality tv) and is like “hi i need to get a message out to cat noir.” when the camera is situated on her (mind u ms chamack is VERY aware that this is her daughters babysitter and is currently holding hawkmoth in a chokehold) she says “im sorry cat noir. you believed in me and trusted me since day one and i couldnt extend you the same courtesy. i was wrong. there is no one else who can wield the black cat miraculous, no one else i would trust with the power of destruction. meet me at our normal rendezvous point so i can give back what is yours.” its all very heartfelt but undercut by the fact that hawkmoth’s bitch ass is shouting explicatives next to her. the fight resumes. she gets slammed into a wall á la every anime fight ever and manages to hide before getting to the roof where she’s waiting for cat noir. shes in a right amount of pain and tikki is running her mouth abt danger and injuries etc. marinette Will Not Move until cat noir shows up. and he does! adrian arrives! when marinette sees him she starts laughing and crying. adrian is rightfully confused. is this a good thing? is this a bad thing? did she hit her head? (yes to all 3.) marinette says “i have been in love with you since 10th grade.” (were they in 10th grade? i do not know.) adrian says “and ive been busy being in love with ladybug.” and then she apologizes again, gives him the ring back, they hug, kick ass and meet up in her room.
if it feels like we’re going rlly fast now its bc we are. the dream was pretty much a montage at this point. hawkmoth is arrested, the world knows who ladybug is, adrian is an orphan, nathalie is still sick, and marinettes parents r thinking that their kid has nearly died MULTIPLE TIMES and they never knew. also luka is under that bridge going “oh fuck.” marinette is in her room trying to explain what will happen next to alya and nino. alya says “i had to tell nino”and marinette says “i am beyond the point of anger. but whatever.” cat noir falls thru her sunroof and they hug (again, there was so much hugging in this dream to make up for the complete lack of hugging in the actual show) and alya + nino are like “uhhh awkward.” the last convo i don’t have quotes for bc at this point my alarm was ringing but it was something abt how marinette cant be ladybug or hold the miracle box and she wld want alya to be the holder but NINO knows and nino Cant Know. but cat noir doesnt want marinette to lose her memories! but People Know. the conclusion was they have to talk to chloe abt how to navigate paparazzi. this is my chloe-and-marinette-could-be-friends agenda. ok i think thats EVERYTHING. if u read all that godspeed, drink water. OH. FINAL THOUGHT. ADRIAN HAD LONG BEAUTIFUL HAIR WHICH IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ALL OF THIS. he had model-brand stubble and sharper teeth than he should.
sometimes I’m peeved that tumblr increased the character limit for asks to be higher than 500 characters, and other times I get

1k word asks about miraculous ladybug dreams, and I think that’s beautiful
I do unironically love the part about Chloe helping Marinette navigate paparazzi, rip to her canon character development
#also I love ‘meet me on the roof at our usual spot’#but he DOESNT HAVE HIS MIRACULOUS#NCBDBSHDHGJG#HOW DID HE GET UP THERE#miraculous ladybug

(girls like girls) like boys do, nothing new
can you do a jealous carol x reader ? like reader has had long time crush on carol and admits her feelings only to get turned down bc carol has internalized homophobia and doesn’t know how to react. carol gets jealous when reader is moving on with another mcu character of your choice.
carol danvers x reader
warnings: internalized homophobia, failed the reverse bechdel test (women only talk about one (1) woman, a gay), no gays fighting over Y/N
word count: 2565 for the gays; set in avengers: endgame; everyone lives au
read part 1 here
Now, after a couple of years, you got promoted
Working under Nick Fury and caring for the Flerken really got you qualified to work in the field
And you did, with the best of the best: Natasha, the Black Widow, and Clint, Hawkeye
You were there when Loki destroyed New York, when Ultron threatened to destroy the world
Over time, your powers manifested, they have been dormant for the longest time
Speaking of dormant, you hadnt heard from Carol since the night she left
You talked to Nick, asked him if she’s ever stopped by, but she hasnt
“She’s busy saving the world, Y/N” he’d tell you, but that didnt make you feel better
You felt so hurt, by her reaction, her rejection, but you began to look forward
But you think about her everyday, wondering what could have been
Carol had given Nick a pager, “for emergencies only”, she reminded him, but she also gave you one
Carol told you that it’s just to make sure Fury doesnt send out some false alarms, but who was she kidding? Maybe she did want you to hit her up
But after all those years, you hadn’t
She looks at her pager every single day, wondering if the world would miss her if she decides to come see you, to clear things out
And you have thought about ringing her up too, in times when the world is in trouble, and in times when the feeling you have on your chest is sharp that you couldnt breathe
In times when you miss her so much you cry uncontrollably, hand over your mouth to make sure no one hears
To make sure no one hears how much you miss the woman you love
You were with Nick and Maria when it happened
It was chaos in the city, and you, Nick and Maria got out of the car to investigate
The drivers seats of cars are empty, helicopters crashing into buildings
Almost reflexively, your hand flew to your pocket, where the pager lay there, almost waiting for you to press it
“Y/N?” Maria sounded distressed, and when you turned to her, her body was disintegrating, like sand blown away by the wind
Nick was distressed and eyed you, “You have to call her. Call control.”
You didn’t hesitate, pressing the button as you watched Nick do the same to his pager, watching your mentor and friend disappear right in front of your eyes
When your right hand started to disappear, you moved the pager to your left hand, tears threatening to spill
You were going to die, alone, unloved, and not having told Carol how much you miss her
Her name was the last thing on your lips before you disappeared
When carol came back to earth, she didnt know anyone
But everyone was grateful to her, for returning tony
The burning question in her head, the one thing she almost didn’t want to admit
Where is the woman she loves?
Back then, way back when carol was still a child, she was told that there were a lot of things she couldnt do
She couldn’t be strong, couldn’t play baseball--because she was a woman
She couldn’t join the air force, couldn’t be a pilot--because she was a woman
All of these things she couldn’t do, but there has always been one thing she was not allowed to do, not allowed to be
Because she was a woman, she is not allowed to like other women
Maybe if she tried hard enough, she could break the glass ceiling and become an air force captain, but there was one thing that she just was not allowed to do
And that was to acknowledge weird, different feelings for women
That has always been the case, it was drilled into her being, ever since she was a child
Girls can’t like other girls
And you confessing your feelings to her years ago forced her to acknowledge that her feelings for you were not at all platonic, that she didn’t stay with you for 3 days just because you were a good friend to her
Carol had to face the facts that being with you reminded her that she was human, and deep down, like the child that she was a long time ago, she had feelings that she didn’t believe were right
And she understood that her running away was not the right thing to have done, that she, who almost prided herself for being able to face her problems head on, was not ready to face this one problem that she had been forced to hide deep down, for years and years
Carol Danvers had always liked girls, and she liked you
Carrying that aircraft containing tony stark and nebula did not bother her one bit, what bothered her was that she was coming to earth after all these years
Somehow she believes that she is being forced to finally deal with abandoning you after all these years
But in spite of this, carol is feeling excited about this, because finally, after all these years...she had made peace with it
Girls like girls like boys do, nothing new
And all it took for her to realize that was the beeping of the pager
When everything had settled down, carol had been graciously offered a change of clothes by Pepper, who was hysterically thanking her for bringing tony back
The atmosphere was morbid, everyone in silent despair, and she was quietly begging for someone to fill up the spaces of what has happened on earth since she was last there
Finally, surrounded by a group of people calling themselves the “Avengers” (carol raised an eyebrow at this, asking if nick fury was the one who assembled the group, “Yeah, how’d you know?” Rhodes asked, and she shrugged and said “Lucky guess”), she was finally brought to speed
“It’s been 23 days since Thanos came to earth”
Holograms of people Carol believed were part of this team are projected around her
“We’re trying to take a census, and it looks like he did exactly what he said he was gonna do”
Nick Fury’s face appeared on the screen, much to Carol’s shock
Tears were brimming in her eyes, thinking about the distress call from Nick
Because if Nick sent the distress call and is now, as Natasha said, wiped out...does that mean…?
“Thanos wiped out...50% of all the living creatures”
Y/N’s face appeared in front of Carol not long after
With that, Carol exhaled as tears finally fell down her cheeks...she had her suspicions, but hoped--no, begged--for it to be false
Y/N was gone
And carol was too late
Tony stark had been upset...and collapsed, Carol, who was still in shock, was staring at the hologram of Y/N in front of her
“Carol, right?”
Carol turned, regarding Natasha with a nod
They hadn’t had the chance to properly introduce themselves, but Carol didn’t think there was any time
“Carol Danvers,” Steve added with a chuckle, “I think we all know you by name before we even met you”
“Fury really singing me praises, huh?” Carol was almost amused
Natasha smiled sadly, “Not Fury,” and she and Steve turned their heads toward the hologram of Y/N
“Whenever she had the chance, she would talk about “her”, Y/N’s greatest love,” Natasha whispered, remembering how she and Clint always pretended to be annoyed whenever Y/N would go on and on about this really powerful superhero who shined like the sun, and lit a flame in her heart
And as much as Carol wanted to bask in the appreciation, she felt nothing but shame, knowing she abandoned Y/N, and wasn’t able to save her
Glancing back at the hologram, she eyed her once more
Years had been good to Y/N, still beautiful as ever, leaving her breathless, but she wasn’t there anymore
And Carol knew what she had to do
If she couldn’t save Y/N, Carol could avenge her
Rhodes approached her, Natasha, and Steve, “He’s probably gonna be out for the rest of the day”, referring to tony
With a resolute look on her face, she said, “You guys take care of him, and I’ll bring him a Xorrian elixir when I come back”
Confused, Natasha, Steve and Rhodes glanced at each other before Steve asked, “Where are you going?”
“To kill Thanos,” Carol said matter-of-factly
Natasha could almost feel the anger Carol was radiating with, so she hurried to catch up to her, “You know, we usually work as a team here…”
When Natasha finally had the chance, she pulled carol over to the side to talk to her privately
“I know that you usually work on your own, that there are worlds out there who need you, but earth needs you too”
She was convincing Carol to stay, to try and create a better world for the people who survived, but it was getting quite hard for Carol to remain on earth
“I don’t…” Carol shook her head, “I don’t have much left on earth.”
“If you can’t stay, atleast come from time to time,” Natasha begged, “This was your home, wasn’t it? This was Y/N’s too.”
And Natasha was right, Carol thought, and in more ways than one, it was her home. But now it’s empty, and Carol is in mourning and she had never felt so alone
All those years, she thought she could live with what she did knowing that Y/N she was still on Earth, possibly with someone who is not ashamed of who she is, who is not ashamed to accept their own feelings
And Carol was okay with that thought, but now…
She couldn’t stand being on Earth knowing Y/N wasn’t there
It was like coming home to a cold and empty house
But she looked at Natasha, finally with the courage to ask her what she had been thinking all this time, “Were you and Y/N together?”
“No,” Natasha answered, almost teasingly
Carol felt relief, but above all, she felt obligated
To do right by Y/N
So she agreed to visit and report from time to time, “For Y/N. Because I need to do right by Y/N.”
When Carol returned to earth after 5 years, Thanos was there, and so was everybody who had disappeared 5 years ago
In spite of all the chaos, she couldn’t help the voice in her head, asking, “Is Y/N here? Is she safe?”
But you were nowhere to be found, and she had promised to scour the world for you later
Thanos was defeated, but it was in exchange for the lives of Tony and Natasha
With a heavy heart, everyone attended their funerals, all grieving the loss of two of their comrades, friends
At the funeral, Carol stood at the distance, watching behind everybody else
Behind her, Nick was there, and they exchanged solemn nods and opted to wait until the end of the funeral to reconnect
“You came,” was the first thing Fury said, after all those years that they haven’t seen each other
With a small chuckle, she nodded, “Don’t flatter yourself, I didn’t come because you called.”
“I know,” Fury retorted, amused, “You came because she called, right?”
Carol’s mouth opened, lips about to ask a question she had been dying to ask ever since she came back, but no words came out
When everything was chaos and adrenaline and fighting, Carol was not scared
But now that the dust has settled, she was terrified...because now there was no more excuse to avoid what her heart has been begging her to do
Before she could push the question out of her mouth, Fury handed her a piece of paper. “She’s off-duty. Gave her a whole damn month to recuperate from being wiped off the face of the planet.”
And when Carol unfolded the piece of paper, it was just an address
Nodding gratefully to Fury, Carol turned to leave, about to face her biggest obstacle yet
From what she could tell, it was a safehouse
Apparently, Y/N was someone high up the organization that they had warranted her one
Just a little cottage out on the countryside, a palace she had always wanted
Carol laughed whenever she remember you saying, “Maybe one day I could afford a little house in the middle of Kansas, meet Clark Kent and Lois Lane...I don’t know”
And here you were, at a small little house in the countryside
Carol watched you, almost ashamed to just be staring at you while you make yourself some breakfast
As she approached the porch, she wondered how she could take on the mad titan Thanos, but is now shaking as she brought her knuckles to knock on your door, extremities suddenly feeling cold, and knees wobbling to support her weight
She could barely hear your footsteps because of the blood rushing to her head, to her face, heart beating wildly
And when you opened the door, she noted how your eyes widened the tiniest bit, mouth opened in surprise when you realized who was on the other side
“Hi, Y/N,” was the first thing she croaked out
“You…” you smiled at her, “you changed your hair”
With a laugh, she nodded, running a hand through her short hair, before she let her hand down
Slowly counting to three
And engulfed you in a hug
Absolutely-swept-you-off-your-feet hug, your feet leaving the ground as her arms wound tightly across your waist, almost crushing you
And when you heard her inhale into the nape of your neck, it was like a reflex that you threw your arms around her neck, squeezing her just as tight
And Carol wanted to apologize, and confess, and plead for you to give her another chance
She wanted to tell you that she’s sorry for leaving, i was so confused and i was scared to come back and have you look me in the eye and tell me you don’t forgive me for what i did, but i have made peace with who i am and know what i want and what i want is you and your happiness and you and you
And she may have tried to make a letter to help her organize her thoughts
You held her shoulders back, looking at her, really looking at her, after all these years, and you use your thumbs to wipe away the tears running down her face as she shyly laughed at you and held your hands to her cheeks and kept it there for a second, relishing in your heat because you were finally here, after all this time, after 5 long years you are alive
And she brought your hands down and cupped your face and leaned in
And touched her lips to yours, gently, lovingly, finally
You can taste the saltiness of her tears, but also her apologies, and love, and devotion and you kissed her back, smiling
And as you pulled away, you wiped her tears again, before holding her hands, guiding Carol inside, “Let’s eat breakfast.”
And Carol Danvers, for once, was selfish, and did not think of the world needing her help, because she knows that the world would be fine if Carol stayed home for a while
And home is wherever you are
a/n: thank you so much for your support! i rly hope you like this ;__;

GO ON ABOUT THEIR BACKSTORIES PLZ
oh god this one got lost in the inbox- i THINK it was abt wra backstory so thats what yall r getting cause i like to chatter on
RIGHT so- some worldbuilding; Humans have only recently gained footing as a generally advanced species. elves gnomes etc were all there farr before humans bc they live so much longer. took humans a lot more time to figure shit out. one of the LEADERS of this new human colony thats making a foothold at worldwide discussions is Sausage’s home.
For funsies and theorywise i call this Mythguard in like. the idea that sausage’s singleplayer world (which was very mixed w elf and dwarf culture or was gonna be lmao) is his hometown.
Mythguard is chill, great export, but in order to be respected amongst other nations they had to gain a bit of power. Long story short; Mythguard king makes a deal with a blood god in exchange for the knowledge of a long lost practice: blood magic. in return they worship that guy Everywhere.
Things go well, blood magic is taboo but is still powerful enough to keep humans in awareness and then one day a mage goes corrupt, using the great staff of mythguard(land whatever) and blood magic to kill off swaths of other nations- basically too OP. The council of nations decided quickly that Nope. No. Humans can’t have that, its too dangerous.
There’s a really long period of blood magic being suppressed and then completely smothered out by anyone who wasnt royal family and even then its Very taboo once more, and in retaliation humans start a general Anti-Magic wave that convinces a lot of people in Mythguard (and a bit outside of it) which makes magic rare and not well studied.
ENTER gem and fwhip. theyre not nobles, they’re not royal, but god do they have a chip on their shoulders. specifically because gem has been spending her time trying to learn how to defend herself and her brother, and as a result of No Magic Teachings in human colonies, she Manifests deer traits as like. a consequence of misuse. Her and Fwhip get kicked out and the kids are runnin wild.
Enter Sausage! A nobleblood prince who’s been barred from learning magic for LIFE after he was caught practicing it and making secret shrines to the blood sheep (who’s apparently not that bad of a guy hes mostly just pissed humans arent holding up their end of the deal)
Annddd Collide! Fwhip and Gem stumble into Mythguard looking for easy cash to swindle ppl out of, they run into the wrong noble, and one way or another Gem is revealed to be magic and Sausage makes a quick choice not to turn them in. She teaches him a bit about magic, Fwhip helps him learn how to sneak better, and Sausage gives them a place to stay and an alibi.
All good things come to an end when Sausage’s family finds out he’s been harboring criminals and Sausage who’s hopelessly endeared by the twins and now realizes that magic is a neutral tool, not inherently evil, steps in to defend them. Family is fuckin Pissed and apparently he’s the least favorite kid anyway bc the slice towards the twins doesnt stop when Sausage runs in front of it to defend them.
the twins go on a rampage and knowing the three of them can’t stay on the continent being essentially War criminals now, book it to the nearest departing ship, hide as stowaways and wait desperately patiently for Sausage to heal and to end up where they end up.
It takes awhile and theres travelling in between but eventually they end up at Empires smp and Sausage starts Mythland as a Better mythguard, and the Grimlands are made as a brother country to Mythland- while the crystal cliffs are seperate they also are Mainly educational based and arent really. a government.
WOOH thats it! hope that helps :)))

toko fukawa comphet no i don’t take criticism
nobody will even see this because my account just. doesnt get traction but here have a ramble abt toko’s backstory and how much i firmly believe her attraction was comphet.
spoilers for thh, sdr2 and udg
tw// ab/se, n/glect, severe bullying
toko was severely neglected and unwanted when she was a child. she grew up with two mothers and one father due to both sleeping with the same man and neither wanting their child which caused her to be mistreated. once she was locked in a closet and forced to stay there for three days without food. clearly, she grew up in a household completely devoid of healthy love. genocide jack’s development was likely a response to cope with the traumatic experiences.
her time in elementary was no different. in third grade, she was used as a scapegoat for stolen money and her classmates tied her to the jungle gym with a garden hose as punishment.
her first real “love” was with a boy who she had been friends with since elementary but when she finally confessed through a letter, she found it pinned to the bulletin board to mock her. this was genocide jack’s first kill, leading me to believe that her murders were actually a form of protection.
on one occasion (and most likely more considering her difficult relationship with understanding rejection) she was ghosted halfway through on a date after spending three days and nights planning it so that she would not mess it up. she later found out that the boy only asked her out because he lost a bet.
the most likely only healthy representation of love she ever has was through media, which is arguably extremely heteronormativity and the actual healthiness of how relationships are presented in media is debatable.
she internalised all of these things happening to her and believed she deserved them somehow, building her inferiority complex. she began to assume that people only expected bad of her and self victimises herself almost on instinct despite her nature to express opinions without care for others most of the time. her self esteem is extremely low and she often worries about being considered an “old hag” in ultra despair girls.
toko fell in love with the idea of love, not an actual person. at some point she turned to novels and writing as a way to express her emotions and she used that passion to create works of art through her novels and created a toxic idolisation of the perfect relationship with nothing but media, her family’s relationships and her past experiences to go off.
she began to let herself get hurt and internalise it which ended up building her inferiority complex even further to the point of becoming unhealthily infatuated with anyone she saw fit as a stand in for the dreamy perfect people that made her books succeed.
time and time again genocide jack and toko were mistreated in their relationships, causing their system to suffer greatly. jack began to kill anyone toko saw fit as a perfect romantic interest to protect them both, but this most likely caused her own mental health to decline as well, leading to the aggressive, startling and manic personality we saw in the games.
toko began to both idolise and fear falling in love. while she knew they would most likely be killed and she would have to cope with knowing that the police could come knocking any day if they put the pieces together, she also still purposed her life around being in a perfect relationship because it was now causing her to gain traction through her novels.
this only furthered her unhealthy infatuation with relationships. she became determined to find a man who fit her description of the perfect man and would not mislead, use, mock or hurt toko in hopes that he would not be killed and she would finally achieve her dream.
enter byakuya togami. blonde, blue eyed, rich, cold and most importantly, entirely unattainable. he was an ideal stand in, especially considering the circumstances of the killing game (jack’s unique killing style would immediately be found out). she was able to fantasise from afar without ever really getting as severely hurt as she had in the past because he simply did not care to provide her his attention.
jack had two options. kill byakuya and get executed, or suck it up. clearly you can tell which option she chose. in addition, she had all of her memories from prior to the game which most likely slightly numbed her thirst for blood. by the end of ultra despair girls, she has grown a respect for toko, a softness for komaru and even calmed jack down to the point where it’s suggested that she no longer uses her skills to murder but instead fight despair.
in fact, near the end, toko is acutely aware of what is happening despite the fact jack was fronting (they don’t usually share memories, only emotions), suggesting they may have slightly integrated but i don’t really want to make assumptions considering i do not have did and am not educated enough to speak confidently about did.
ironically, the killing game was actually good for both of their mental health’s. i’ll only be talking about toko but in ultra despair girls she was emotionally stronger and more mature. she believed she finally had a purpose other than romance and that she could fight against all odds. she even credits makoto for her newfound courage. she criticises cowards and those that remind her of her past self. she is willing to challenge her fears.
komaru had an amazingly powerful and positive effect on them both. her softness, optimism and empathy help toko’s character develop even further. when komaru tries to give in to despair, toko encourages her to face her fears. toko, who was before extremely afraid and uncomfortable with being touched, is now willing to comfort and even hug komaru. she claims she’s finally found a true friend (that’s actually human, can’t forget kameko the stinkbug) and that she found hope in her.
komaru admires toko and doesnt really mind her split personality, instead just considering it “a bit strange”, which is a noticeable difference from how she was treated by everyone else for it. toko is protective of komaru during chapter two due to her suspicion of shirokuma. later, they even sleep in the same bed.
however, when toko risks komaru’s life for byakuya, they get into an argument in which toko accuses komaru of manipulating her with terms such as “friends”, which leads to komaru showing that she really does trust her.
later, this arguably resolved after servant forces jack and toko to fight against komaru for byakuya. they fight back against servant and komaru forgives her because they are friends, which makes toko extremely happy, so much that she blushed and admits she has never had a real friend before. she thanks komaru genuinely for the first time and they try to become real friends.
toko swears she will help komaru with anything she can’t do by herself, just like komaru would do for her.
toko even stays by her side to the point of rejecting the opportunity of going to future foundation to stay with komaru :)
in the end of danganronpa goodbye despair, which is set after ultra despair girls, kyoko reminds byakuya that someone is waiting for him and he jokes that she shouldn’t remind him of “something so horrifying”. and honestly i think the fact he was able to joke about it shows that perhaps toko and byakuya found a somewhat healthy relationship as friends, acquaintances, or even just bearing eachother’s presence.
a notable addition that didn’t really fit anywhere else is toko’s scrapped execution. “first kiss prank” is the title and it consists of byakuya running towards her before toko gets hit by a roller. that says enough about her biggest fears and how badly her past memories affected her.
in conclusion, toko fukawa’s obsession with byakuya was comphet due to pressure from the media and her toxic ideals. the fact she was able to form a healthy relationship with komaru is hhh and i could talk about them for hours. tokomaru is the second closest thing we have to inmedia stated canon (fuck kodaka’s statement me and the homies hate kodaka’s statement about naegiri /j)

Random relationship headcanons (all characters!) - F!MC
I’ve done HCs like these before but not for all of the characters - I thought I’d do an updated version with everybody☺️
Lucifer:
Lucifer effectively never refers to MC by her name ever again, he either calls her ‘my love’ or ‘my dear’
He sets Friday nights aside to take MC out for dinner no matter how much paperwork he has left at the end of the week
Lucifer always unconsciously makes MC a cup of coffee in the morning when he’s getting his
He’s not the sort to hold MC’s hand while at RAD, but when they walk together he does subtly place his hand on her lower back
Often their more intimate moments involve laying in front of the fireplace together, sipping glasses of wine as they discuss and joke over their day
Lucifer helps MC with her every goal and when she succeeds, he is always the first to congratulate her. After all, having MC as his partner is what he is most proud of
If he catches MC sassing one of the brothers, he’ll smirk and boast “That’s my girl.”
Sometimes if he’s feeling stressed, he’ll ask MC if she’ll keep him company by sitting in his lap while he works
Mammon:
He’s an absolute sucker for MC calling him ‘babe’ and tells her off if she refers to him as anything else
Mammon’s 100% the little spoon (but don’t you dare ever tell anybody else that)
Expect random booty slaps throughout the day whenever Mammon is near
He loves showing off MC - if they’re at RAD together, he’ll always have his arm around her; nonchalantly planting kisses on her head every now and again when they’re talking to someone
Mammon tells his brothers off if he thinks they’re spending too much time with his human
“What are you doin’ over there?! Come give me some sugar!” He pouts at least 20 times a day
Mammon never grows tired of seeing MC’s body. Every time she undresses for bed, he gawps at her - practically drooling - just like it’s the first time he’s ever seen her
He often randomly buys MC cards and will write little notes inside with his scrawny handwriting simply stating how much he loves and appreciates her (he’s very soft when it comes to MC)
Levi:
If MC is doing something that Levi deems as ‘adorable’, he will immediately pull out his D.D.D and photograph/film her so if he’s ever feeling down he can go through his album and just gaze at her in awe
When he’s talking to Henry 2.0, he refers to MC as the fish’s ‘mum’ and him as ‘dad’ (but don’t tell MC that he ever said that)
He loves to show off that MC is his girlfriend whenever he’s gaming. If he gets insulted over his headset, he’ll reply with ‘yeah? Well I have a girlfriend who’s super hot! Beat that!’
Movie marathons are a must
Levi loves taking MC to the beach and having her straddle him while he wades through the sea (a bit like Baloo and Mowgli)
When he’s gaming, Levi lets MC style his hair. Considering how long it is, the human is very intrigued by what it’d look like pushed back
He gets incredibly excited if MC gets dressed up for something and practically implodes: “that’s my girlfriend!!”
Satan:
Satan is 100% husband material. MC needs help studying? He’s there. MC needs help with cooking dinner? He’s there. MC is feeling stressed and wants a massage? He’s already offered before she can ask.
He’s quite a tease too and will wait until the worst time to show this side of him. MC and Satan could be at the palace having a really formal dinner when he will start whispering in MC’s ear, telling her all of things he’d love to do to her later that evening
MC’s name is now ‘darling’
Satan’s favourite part of the day is when he and MC are sat in bed each night, both reading a book
He loves to hold MC in his arms with her head on his chest whenever they fall asleep
He always makes the bed while MC’s in the bathroom so she doesn’t have to
When he’s on dinner duty, Satan purposefully cooks his and MC’s dinner first so that they can have it alone with a candle lit
Asmo:
Refers to MC as ‘sweetie’
He’s always surprising MC with little gifts - if he’s out shopping and sees something he thinks she’d like he immediately buys it
He helps relieve MC of any stress - if he senses she’s had a bad day he’ll pull out the nail varnish and give her a full on pamper while she moans about whatever is bothering her
His Devilgram is full of candid photos of MC
You can bet he’s super affectionate toward MC - there will never be a day that goes past where she doesnt wake up with a kiss from him
They’re the fiercest couple at RAD - they’re effectively the Devildom equivalent to Posh and Becks
They also go on really cute dates, whether it be little mini breaks, a simple coffee date at a nearby cafe, a day at the beach or beauty salon etc
Beel:
Movie nights with everybody always consist of MC falling asleep in Beel’s lap and then him carrying her up to bed
He’s always calling MC ‘cute’ no matter what she’s doing. She could be having a full on go at him for eating her dinner and he’d just smile at her while thinking ‘could she be anymore adorable?’
Lots and lots of piggy backs
Beel loves hugging MC, he always does that thing where he wraps his jacket around her so he trap the human with his love
Always invites MC to his sports game and whenever she goes, he manages to perform that little bit better to usual
He always offers MC his jacket if she ever gets cold
Everyone dubs them the ‘cutest couple at RAD’ because they’re always holding hands and have the biggest smiles on their faces whenever they’re together
Often they spend their evenings in the kitchen cooking/baking which results in a food fight and eventually sex on the kitchen counter
MC always wears Beel’s top to bed and it makes him so happy to see her in it
Belphie:
He gives MC all of the comfy pillows in their bed - after all he doesn’t need them anymore because his favourite thing to fall asleep on is his human
He’s always coming to MC’s defence. If a lesser demon ever does so much as scowl at her, he immediately puts himself between the two. Nobody is ever going to hurt his human
Belphie wants to learn everything about MC including the things she likes. And if that means he has to sit through hours and hours of a TV show to do that then he’ll commit to it!
He’s always genuinely interested in how MC’s day went and whenever they reunite at the house, he always asks how she is and will listen for however long to what she has to say
He hides food in the fridge for MC “I bought this cake earlier and have hidden it from Beel so that you could have the first slice”
Belphie always wants cuddles from MC - he has to have his head on her chest
He’s also not ashamed of how much he likes to snuggle his human, even if his brothers do tease him for it
Diavolo:
Diavolo is always going above and beyond for MC and acts like she’s already his Queen
He loves taking her on little walks around the castle grounds; telling her all about his ancestors
If Diavolo has to get up early for whatever reason and leave the palace, he’ll always leave a single rose on the bedside table next to MC so she doesn’t wake up feeling forgotten about
He puts MC before his duty - if any nobles ever dare speak ill of his relationship, he immediately dismisses them from their role
Always compliments MC, expressing how ‘positively radiant’ she looks with a huge grin on his face
He loves making MC wear his crown and sit on his throne, in fact he finds it quite the turn on seeing her in a position of power (that’s not the only position he likes seeing her in)
His favourite part of the day is when he gets to return home and see MC in her element doing whatever (studying, drawing etc) looking like the absolute beauty she is
Diavolo always accidentally lets it slip that he wants to have a future with MC - they’d just be talking about something random and then he’d come out with “well I like to think that when our children grow up...” before quickly blushing, realising what he’d said
Barbatos:
He invites MC to the castle a lot to keep him company when he’s serving Diavolo
He’s always surprising MC and leaving her feeling flustered - he could have a completely serious look on his face while he’s doing something for Diavolo but will then turn and whisper to MC “perhaps when I finish this paperwork, I can do you on this desk too” before walking away
Barbatos is always showing off to MC by taking her to different realms and dimensions. Having dinner at a fancy restaurant is too mainstream for him - you want to see France during the Renaissance? Sure, he’ll take you there!
He takes good care of MC and will often sense something is off with her before she even knows. This demon has a different tea for everything
Barbatos loves cooking all of these elaborate dishes only for MC to try and you can bet he’s already memorised all of her favourite meals from the human realm and has perfected them
In fact, some of the very rare moments where he grins is when he and MC are baking together
Even if he’s the one who’s had an incredibly long day, he’ll still run a relaxing bath for MC with candles and salts
Simeon:
Even if MC wakes up and looks like she’s been dragged through a bush backwards, Simeon never fails to compliment her surreal beauty
He calls MC ‘sweetheart’ all the time
Simeon always gets up early so that he can make MC breakfast in bed as it’s the most important meal of the day!
They always bath together
He and MC often go for walks in the park and will bring Luke along if he’s feeling lonely and wants to spend time with his parents
Simeon is incredibly intimate and passionate in their relationship. There’s no such thing as a ‘casual’ kiss with this angel - he never fails to caress MC’s cheek and gaze into her eyes before laying one on her
He always offers to carry MC’s bags while they’re walking through RAD and will effectively treat her like a goddess - opening every door for her, pulling out her chair etc
Simeon’s always gushing to Lucifer about his relationship with MC
Solomon:
MC and Solomon are such a chaotic couple
To show his love for her, he will quote vines (*insert ‘I love you bitch, I ain’t ever gonna stop loving you, bitch’ vine here*)
He is not afraid to show off his love for MC. She could be walking through the corridor at RAD and when he spots her, Solomon will shout ‘DAYUM MY GIRL IS FINE’
Solomon is always making MC laugh. He’s not one for being traditional when it comes to compliments - he’d definitely hit her up with “I would drag my balls through lava just to hear you fart down a walkie talkie”
He’s quite a show off too - the demons are all jealous that MC loves him and not them so he always gushes about his human
If he ever takes an unflattering photo of MC, he immediately turns her into a meme much to his amusement
Although he jokes a lot and isn’t always serious, when they’re alone together, Solomon is incredibly loving and would easily be happy to just sit there and stare at MC in silence for ten minutes so that he can take a moment to appreciate how lucky he is

okay, quick, Headcanon time!
Among the deltarune cast, who listens to what bands? Go!
ok hear me out i dont listen to specific bands and you can really probably tell a lot about my taste in music by this but ill try my best lol
kris likes lemon demon. their favorite song is probably touch tone telephone and i like to think that when they met spamton they were just like ‘ah shit touch tone telephone vibes’ lmao. not much more to it theyre a simple kid they hear lemon demon they happy
noelle gives me the vibes of the one person in the friend group who listens to music just. for fun. on its own. like not while doing something else she just sits there and listens like a maniac. she says she doesnt have a favorite artist or band but her whole spotify liked songs list full of paramore songs says otherwise. shes also probably partial to cavetown. probably also has a playlist just called ‘susie <3′ filled with the most wholesome sappy love songs youve ever heard. like pull out ‘something entirely new’ and ‘despair’ for this playlist because she is dying on the floor crying in the club w/ this one
if you ask susie she’ll say she listens to penelope scott which is. true. she probably says her favorite song is cigarette ahegao but its actually hammerhead
berdly likes lemon demon also but his favorite is cabinet man and kris and him will get into a fist fight over which is better one day just you wait. he also likes really shitty boybands and kris is the only one who knows and its very good blackmail material. his favorite song is bye bye bye but he is in denial. i think he listens to game osts in public tho. especially persona because the music is just that good. but he can and will fight you if you dare say the correct opinion that the persona 5 the animation intro is a fucking banger because ‘its not in the same style as the game and is a disgrace to the game’s legacy’ shut the fuck up berdly
ralsei probably likes lilina flores. good vibes all around. rises the moon is a vvv nice song to him but he also maybe likes devil town. i also think he listens to the hamilton soundtrack on the side and he knows all the words to my shot and one day he’ll just sing the whole song in front of the fun gang and theyll be horrified by his sheer power
queen likes bo burnham no elaboration necessary
spamton also likes bo burnham but has exponentially worse taste and his favorite song is repeat stuff.
jevil doesnt have a favorite artist or band but he does think his spotify playlist is top tier despite it being a disjointed mess with no theme or vibe and one second youll be listening to lofi zelda music and the next youre hit with fucking bye bye bYE AGAIN WHY DOES THAT SONG KEEP COMING UP-
sweet cap’n cakes get into fist fights over music frequently because nobody there has good taste according to everyone else there but if you asked them what specifically the others listen to none could give you a straight answer
seam doesnt have a specific favorite artist and they to whatever they feel lie. although they have been humming passing through for the past week because damn that songs catchy so. yeah.
rouxls likes pretty much any musical and his current favorite is 36 questions but it changes every 8 minutes. my man really be singing ‘ONE THING, I CAMETH OUTETH HERE FOR ONE THING, AND THAT ITTY-ETH BITTY-ETH ONE THING WAS TO FORGETETH ABOUTETH YOUUUUUUUUUU’. thats not a joke he edits the lyrics to fit him better.
lancer likes splat noises
#music#ask response#thanks for the question bestie!!!!!#this was super fun to write out#i dont really pay attention to specific artists much lmao#i actually mostly find new songs by looking through others character playlists for inspo for mine#or spotify reccomendations#and also stuff my friends send me#i think kris is probably playing that miku piano tiles rythm game thing i forget what its called#its like coloful stage or something??????#they probably like becoming potatoes from that#which like. good taste krispy kreme#berdly also likes vocaloid lol#deltarune#kris dreemurr#kris deltarune#berdly#berdly deltarune#noelle holiday#noelle deltarune#susie#susie deltarune#ralsei#ralsei deltarune#queen deltarune#queen#spamton#spamton g spamton#jevil#jevil deltarune

hey any1 want some superman jon and batman Damian hcs? too bad cause you’re getting them
• damian realized why no one wanted to be batman when he turned 18 and Bruce decided to give him batman when he was 22.
• jon realized why jon didn’t want to be superman when he also turned 18
• oh and right, by gave, I mean bruce sorta can’t be batman anymore. medical reasons…
• damian sorta uh. persuaded clark into giving jon superman.
Damian: look. I don’t wanna be worlds finest with you, old man.
Clark: im- im not old—
Damian: listen here, jon and i? we are gonna surpass you and my dad. so give it to jon and let me prove it.
Clark: this doesn’t seem like a good idea— you aren’t ready— neither is jon
Damian: wait- wait, you don’t believe in your son and i??? wow. WOOOW. okay. i see.
Clark: that’s not it!-
Damian: sure. sure. don’t worry. I see now.
Clark: wait I do!
Damian: no, no you don’t.. it’s— it’s okay, I get it, it’s me, huh?
Clark: no!
Damian: I get it
Clark: please i do! I’ll - oh my rao, you’re playing me
Damian: i am. i cant do this without jon though. please, Clark.
Clark: *sigh, how did he get manipulated by a kid he used to babysit* okay.
• okay so now jon may be a little overwhelmed because one day he’s flamebird, the next, he’s becoming superman? huH. it’s extremely uh. worrying. and really just? wow.
• does Damian feel bad? oh yeah. he does. so bad. but he really can’t do it alone. they always dreamed of being their parents. or being better than them. but they grew up and realized that they really didn’t want to be their parents.
• but here they were, getting fitted for their suits and adding their own details to it.
jon: hey, you look hot
damian: please. shut up.
• they could do this. they could do this. shoot they can’t do this.
• damians own anxiety was going 50 mph. look, okay? remember before heretic when Bruce thought that Damian would become a satanic batman and basically rain hell all over gotham? yeah. that’s what is going on in damians mind.
• he doesn’t want to be that. ( “you won’t be like that, cmon, d, we’re gonna be better.” ) and how Damian wants to believe jon so bad..
• he doesn’t want to become obsessed with Batman like his father did, he still wants to have a life. he doesn’t want to isolate himself away and adopt kids as a coping mechanism. that’s why he needs jon to be superman. jon helps him, he helps him not go off into his own little world and stay there. he believes that with Jon, he’ll be okay. he has to be. maybe he uses jon as his own coping mechanism, but that isn’t the point.
• together, they will outshine their parents. the supersons can do this. they are the next generation, and it’s not like they are alone. they have so many other people to help them. they’ll be okay.
• they have been preparing for this their whole life, but they both feel like they got it too soon. they thought they had more time. Damian does feel guilty when he hears jon talking about how stressed he is about superman and not living up to whatever the hell he has to live up to, but Damian does fear what would. or could. have happened if he didn’t have jon with him. becoming batman took a lot out of him, more than he would like to admit. he just got constant flashbacks to heretic and that whole fiasco he thought he put behind him a loong time ago.
Jon: are you sure you’re okay?
Damian: yes idiot, quit worrying.
Jon: I’ll always worry about, d.
• jon somehow becomes MORE sappier when he becomes superman.
• okay, also, funny story. ( Clark and Bruce don’t find it funny AT ALL ) superman and batman? yeah they sorta kissed after an almost alien invasion. in their suits. uh. in front of an alien who they were arresting for the green lanterns. most people believe that when people say it, it’s a lie, kidding. no they don’t. there were pictures.
bruce: you want to explain this?
damian: not really, no.
• the public knows there’s a new Batman and Superman since yk. Jon’s face is public and was seen as superboy flamebird and now superman, and batman was slightly smaller and had some different moves
• but here’s their main line up: batman ( dami wamie, obvi ), superman ( jonnyboy kent ), nobody ( maya:)) ), green lantern ( tai pham, my baby boy ), lace ( wallace west 2, he goes by lace instead of flash because i said so. ), and shazam ( billy b ).
• fun fact, they have a den mother even though they are all in their 20s. poor dinah.. yeah black canary is their den mother. ( stole it from from yj )
• dinah makes sure they get their injuries checked out, train regularly, and you know. don’t blow up a building.
• again.
• ( when damian and jon were younger, in their teen years, they stupidly accidentally blowed up a building. in their defense, the building was owned by the penguin. and there were no civilians in the area. but they also got a lot of men sent after them.. oops. )
• they are very chaotic. they are the definition of dumbass energy sometimes.

• damian tries to keep the pda down whenever he’s batman, BUT JON DOESNT KNOW HOW TO DO THAT
• hence the amount of photos of jon hugging Damian or kissing him
• damian has never once initiated one in suits
• ( that one time jon almost died does not count )
Damian: thought you were gonna be batman.
Tim: nah, i don’t wanna be bruce. i saw what it did to dick. I would’ve became just like him.
Damian: am i like him??
Tim: god no, bruce would never kiss superman or date him or spray paint the new justice league logo— nice logo, by the way— onto villains bases
Damian: is that a good or bad thing?
Tim; good, that means you probably won’t be a total emotional stunted person using crime fighting as an outlet for unresolved childhood trauma.
Damian: you do realize why i became Robin right
Tim: .. not the point im trying to make. I mean now, brat.
• sometimes you can see some of the heroes dropping by to surprise kids, they heard that their old mentors used to go to children’s hospitals to visit sick kids, so they did that too. on a rare day where there isn’t any crime, which is really rare, they go to a school and talk if it’s a weekday, or they drop by an orphanage to hang out with kids.
• they have gotten into a lot of trouble though. they’re still learning how to work as a team. jon and damian are used to being solo and working with each other, Tai had tagged along a few times when they were younger and knows how they work, along with maya, but billy and Wallace do not.
• they often all get into arguments.
• damian lacks a filter and will criticize everyone if they mess up. and he often goes off alone or is too blunt.
• it takes a long time before they all realize that Damian is just: Damian, he doesnt mean to be mean. ( surprisingly )
• billy is used to being the big kid stuck at the kids table, it’s funny that he’s actually the second oldest when he used to be the youngest. ( lace is like.. 27? shazam is 25.. nobody 24. & the supersons 22. pulled all those ages outta my ass. you’re welcome. )
• dinah is also their therapist. poor dinah.
• like really giving pity to dinah. but dinah loves those kids, she has known some since they were kids. she used to take damian out for ice cream and train with him, and also babysit him. ( AUNT DINAH IS MY FAVORITE GOODBYE ). and she did the same with Jon.
• dinah actually does help a lot of them get over their trauma, not completely, but most have finally spoken about it. they began talking after they all got hit with fear gas.
• that was a bad night.
• they had almost disbanded before when they thought lace had died by the hands of captain cold. they had been arguing all day, and if they didn’t, they might’ve saved him:
• but turns out he wasn’t dead.
• but the argument was still there, and it was strong. it took a while for them to actually work together without dinah forcing them.
• then soon came another new member after maya left to go do some undercover mission for the justice league regarding some alien tech being distributed some place. it was a sad goodbye, but she would be back and she would have a place here.
• welcoming: yara flor. yara was a bit headstrong and wild. damian has screamed at her a lot and almost got into a fist fight with her before being dragged off by his boyfriend 💋
• but she settled in fine. minus the fact damian really wanted to shove a batarang up— anyways. she just had to learn teamwork and shit, she was used to being a solo and she was somewhat new. so they helped her out and she became a solid member of the team.
• sometimes damian and jon just go and sit on a rooftop like they did as kids togeyher. just alone with each other. thinking about how their life changed so quickly.
Damian: i thought we’d ruin our fathers’ legacies and plummet to the ground.
Jon: *he coughed* ..what?
Damian: yeah. i didn’t think we’d get this far, but here we are.
Jon: of course we got this far, and we’re gonna get further.
Damian: i know.
• oh yeah. so. superman. fucking proposed after they defeated darkseid. ( the battle was long, so many people were left injured and on the brick of death, Damian and jon had been separated when it all started. Damian had stayed on earth at first before going to apokolips. Damn he hadn’t seen it since he got resurrected.
Darkseid: oh. I remember you.
Damian: mhm?
Darkseid: ah yes, the little boy who was resurrected here.. the chaos share, your father used it on you.
Damian: i know. i remember what happened. I was there afterall.
Darkseid: I wonder if you are as smart as the original batman.
Damian: i am.
• damian was buying time. he was waiting for reinforcements, namely the people who had powers and could take him down. damian wasn’t stupid. he realized darkseid liked to talk. his friends were fighting off the female furys or whatever they were called. he just had to wait and entertain.
Darkseid: quite the ego there.
Damian: i saved the justice league when i was 13, i deserve to have an ego.
Darkseid: oh, you are by far more talkative than the original.
Damian: thanks.
Darkseid: not a compliment, you fool.
• yeah so. darkseid tried to kill damian, with a beam thing. Damian was about to flip away like the baddie he is, but. jon. went out and yk. took the hit. dumbass.
Damian: you have such a big hero complex.
Jon: wow I just saved you and that’s what you say?????
Damian: yes.
• anyways, after they defeat darkseid, jon pops out a ring from his pocket and asks damian to marry him on apokolips.
Damian: you seriously couldn’t wait til we got on earth?
Jon: dames you almost died. what if- what if something happens, I’ve been putting this off for so long. cmon please?
Damian: you’re seriously asking me to marry you here where, I’m pretty sure, a lot of shit happened to our parents here.
Jon: no time like the present.
Damian: fair. okay.
Jon: just okay???
Damian: im sorry, do you want me to cry or something?
Jon: ughh, you can be so extra and petty sometimes.
Damian: i am not being petty.
Jon: just because I ask you to marry me here you wanna be like “okay” and that’s it
Damian: you’re so dramatic. I’ll marry you. I wanna marry you. Better?
Jon: yeah:)

chainsaw man | denji, power, hayakawa aki, gen, 5k | on ao3
“It’s just…” He stopped. “You really don’t care about tits?”
There was a long silence, punctuated only by low buzz of Aki’s desk lamp. “You care about tits,” Aki said finally, “an unusual amount.”
(or: Time off work means that Denji gets to spend a lot of time thinking about what exactly it is that he likes about tits, anyway. Gender is involved. Power helps.)
inspired by my roommate’s headcanon that denji is a trans lesbian and doesnt know it yet! this fic takes place after the international assassin arc but before ch 73.
trigger warning for denji making transphobic statements due to the fact that he doesnt know that being trans is a thing, internalized transphobia, and body dysphoria. general disclaimer that i am not a trans woman but have been known to experience a gender from time to time. enjoy!

They’d all been given time off work, after the Darkness Devil. A leave of absence for Aki to recover, for Power to get her head screwed back on straight, and for Denji to sit and wait for them to be well, since he wasn’t allowed to go on work missions by himself. It was coming to an end soon— Aki had acclimated to his one arm pretty well, and Power didn’t wake up screaming anymore, so they’d be back to work soon.
Still, Denji was running out of ways to fill the empty time. Having nothing to do made him sizzle with nervous energy, waiting for something to do, for a task and directive to achieve. Aki provided the direction of reading materials, movies, and chores— but it still gave him too much time to think.
So it was a lazy afternoon, not long after lunch but still too early for another meal, when Denji asked Power a question.
“Hey, Power,” he said. “You took over a dead body, right?”
She was stretched out on the floor on her back, hugging Meowy in her arms— Aki always said that she held him too tightly, but no matter what Power did the stupid cat purred like a pleased, rusty motorboat. Denji’s question made her stall, frowning as Meowy squirmed. “Eh?”
“That’s what Aki said a fiend was,” Denji said, rolling onto his elbow to look at her from the couch. “A devil that took over a human’s dead body. So you did that, right?”
She paused, thinking this over— reaching for something hidden in her memory. Then her eyes widened, and she sat up. “That’s right,” she said, suddenly triumphant. She rubbed one finger under her nose, pivoting Meowy to rest awkwardly in the crook of her other arm. “I forgot… The way Power was born!”
There was the beginning of the story in the gleam of her eyes— something that would go on, and be uninteresting and mostly nonsensical. “Yeah, I don’t really care about any of that,” Denji said, before she could begin. “I was just wondering, like,” he paused, and one hand rose up, like he could better form the thought if he could grab it. “…Why’d you end up picking the body you did?”
“I used whatever was convenient,” she said. “Of course, my body is the best body I could have gotten. Tis one of the reasons I am so perfect.”
“So you didn’t care about what it looked like?”
Power sniffed, immediately dismissive of the question. “Only humans care about things like that,” she said. Denji could tell she was starting to lose interest in the conversation— she was starting to lift Meowy in front of her, the cat’s little arms jutting awkwardly toward her as his body dangled. “It is very sad! The only good devil feature I have now are my horns… Human bodies really are so unappealing. And they all look the same.”
This caught Denji off guard. He slid forward on the couch, trying to get Power’s attention again to argue. “Huh? That’s not true at all. We all look completely different. Like, you don’t look anything like me. And Aki looks super different from us…” His argument warmed up slowly as he cooked it over, and suddenly, he was invigorated. “We all look super fucking different! That’s crazy.”
“What are you two talking about?” Aki appeared in the doorframe, his one remaining arm wrapped over the white laundry basket he’d been struggling with the whole day.
“Denji is jealous of my perfect body,” Power said.
“No way!”
Before Power could say anything else stupid, Meowy squirmed over her shoulder to land on the ground behind her with a thump. She wheeled again to grab at him, but he scooted comfortably out of her arm’s reach to vanish under the couch, curling his patchy tail around his feet. “Meowy!”
Denji pointed at her, victorious. “That’s what you get. He’s not gonna come out for the rest of the day.”
“You two, stop fighting,” Aki said, before Power’s high pitched whine could end in a yell. “Denji, help me hang up the laundry. And Power, you need to clean Meowy’s litter box. It stinks.”
“Meowy should be allowed to shit wherever he wants,” Power grumbled.
“He does shit wherever he wants,” Aki said. “He just has better manners than you.”
As he stood on the balcony with Aki, picking up shirts one by one to hang, Power’s words continued to turn in Denji’s chest, until they finally stopped to lodge themselves there at an uncomfortable angle. It felt like he’d swallowed a piece of food before chewing it all the way through, and some piece was sticking there. His breaths couldn’t dislodge it.
Was he jealous of Power’s body?
No. There was no way. Why would he want a body like Power’s?
He’d seen a lot of Power’s body. All of it, actually. He knew what it looked like, what it felt like— even what it tasted like, not that he’d wanted to drink her blood. And he’d decided, pretty thoroughly, he wasn’t interested. Whatever exciting mystery lay under a girl’s clothes had fallen flat when it was attached to Power.
But maybe there was something else to want about her body? Something not about sex, or touch. He couldn’t name it. Or maybe, eventually, he could name it— but he definitely shouldn’t.
Laundry ended with hanging their spare public safety uniforms, all in an identical line. Denji was bigger than Power, and Aki was taller than both of them— still, they were all close enough in size that their clothes could easily mingle together in a confused heap. Denji had gotten halfway through getting dressed into Power’s too-small clothes to know he couldn’t wear her pant size, but on the line they almost looked identical. Empty squares of fabric, wafting in the warm breeze. When the sleeves moved, they looked like they were waving in time.
“You’re thinking about something,” Aki said.
He was kneeling by the now empty laundry basket, because even though Denji could have hung the laundry by himself in about the same amount of time, Aki had insistently stayed to pass the laundry to him. Denji guessed he just didn’t like being able to finish the stuff he could before, when he had both arms, and that maybe if he stuck around to the end of the task it was like he could do it anyway. But also, it felt like he was watching Denji. Waiting for something important.
Denji clipped the last shirt up, letting the clothespin clap shut around the starched white collar. “It’s nothin’ important,” he said. “Don’t worry about it.”
The next day, Denji remembered something that brought him back to Power, reading through a manga that Aki had brought home from the conbini.
“I thought of something else about what you said that doesn’t make sense,” Denji said, standing over her.
She had to move the volume down out of her face to look at him, scowling immediately at the interruption. “What?”
“You said that you don’t care about your body, but you do,” Denji said, accusatory. “You wore those— fake boob things. Why the hell would you do that if you didn’t care about what your body looked like?”
She stared at him, and Denji could see from her expression, instantly, she’d forgotten the whole conversation already. Power forgot about a lot of shit, admittedly, but for some reason it felt like a bad sign— like Denji was putting way too much thought into something stupid. He went on pointlessly to add, “you know— what we talked about. How you said human bodies are gross…”
“Correct. Human bodies are gross,” Power said, instantly confident even if she’d forgotten the context. “But there are ways to make them less gross.”
She sat up, throwing the magazine aside. Denji jerked back, out of the circumference of her turning legs, and watched her draw herself up. “It is also helpful to have large breasts,” she said, confident. “Because many people desire them, and so they act in useful ways— like when you helped me save Meowy.” She folded her legs under her and crossed her arms, with sudden finality.“Isn’t that right?”
“Well— yeah,” Denji said. “But you couldn’t have known I would do that before we met…” His eyes flickered to her chest automatically at the memory— she wasn’t wearing them right now, so her t-shirt hung loosely against her body.
“But I knew humans are disgusting. And that they would be interested in me having larger breasts.” She crossed her arms and legs at once, forming a defiant pretzel. “Maybe you should try it some time, Denji.”
Any further argument Denji had against this line of reasoning immediately evaporated. He felt his face flush instantly, and he struggled for words— or anything at all, really. “What—“ he stopped, sputtering. “Don’t be fucking stupid! I can’t have tits, I’m a guy.”
“Why not?”
He stared at her, bewildered. “Cause— cause guys don’t have tits.”
It was so obvious it felt stupid to say— but even with it being obvious it felt like a weak argument. Power wrinkled her nose. “Stupid! Very stupid, Denji. Come with me.” She stood up, briefly on the couch before hopping down next to him. And then, she grabbed his arm and marched him to the bathroom, her fingers making a vise grip against his skin.
“You’re lucky I’m here to help you,” Power said, shutting the bathroom door behind them. This seemed like a bad sign to Denji— Power had to practically be bribed to not leave the door open when shitting, and she didn’t care when they shut the door either. She was trying to cut off his escape route. “Humans are so limited and rigid in their thinking! It’s very boring, so I will help you.”
She was wriggling out of her t-shirt as she talked, discarding it on the floor between them. Then, she ducked her arms behind her back to undo the clasps on her bra. That wasn’t really a big deal— Denji had seen Power naked before, and he’d done her laundry enough times to know what her underwear looked like. But he was starting to feel nervous about wherever this conversation was going. “Power,” he said, eyes flickering to follow her movements, “I don’t know about this.”
“I’m only trying to show you,” she said. “That it is very easy. And that humans do look alike.”
And then, she was pulling his shirt off— Denji choked as the cloth dragged against his mouth, arms jerking up automatically to follow the movement. His shirt joined hers on the floor.
With businesslike hands, Power turned him around so he was staring at the blank drywall. He felt the bra drag around his ribcage. “Whoa— whoa,” Denji yelped.
“Don’t bother fighting me! This is for your own good!” She was snapping the clasps in place, so it was snug against his body. They scratched against his back as they clicked.
Then, she pulled the straps over his arms. Denji felt his eyes drop, to where his cleavage would be, if he had cleavage (but he didn’t because he was a guy, and so he shouldn’t be thinking about this). The rip cord of his chainsaw heart curled awkwardly out between the bra’s lace detailing. He could feel it constrict in his chest— an ugly spasm in reaction to the way it gapped against him.
Power’s hands snaked out from under his armpits. She was holding the breast pads. “Put them on,” she commanded.
Hell no, Denji screamed. Or, well, he thought he screamed. His voice wouldn’t cooperate. Instead, his hand moved, mechanical, to take them from her.
They were pretty much how he remembered the first time— silicone. Kind of squishy, except for an odd firmness in the middle. There was a sticky backing that probably helped keep them from falling off your chest. They also stank, since they lived up against Power’s sweaty unwashed body most of the time.
He raised them to his chest, and after a few moments of arranging, they were on, cool and sticky against his skin.
Power turned him again with one firm hand on his upper arm. Now, they were both facing the mirror— Denji in Power’s bra. Both shirtless. Both, somehow, with tits. She leaned against him and crossed her arms, smirking with satisfaction. “Now you see,” she declared. “We don’t look so different.”
She was wrong, obviously. Denji was taller than Power, and broader shouldered, and just— different. They looked different. Because they were two different people, obviously, but also because Denji wasn’t a chick. No way anyone would buy that he was just from some fake boobs.
But also, he couldn’t stop looking at them. Why? He knew they weren’t real, and also, they were on him. The usual reasons Denji wanted to be looking at tits couldn’t really apply. Especially when Power, who had actual tits, was standing next to him, naked from the waist up.
Of course, he’d already figured out he wasn’t interested in Power, so it made sense that he wasn’t looking at her— except nothing about this situation made sense at all. Especially that some noise, buzzing in the back of his skull constantly, had gone quiet. A feeling that he hadn’t even known was there was gone.
“You can keep them if you want, Denji,” Power said generously. “I only wear the bra because Aki makes me.”
Reality snapped back into place. Denji pushed her away, yanking off the bra. The boob pads unstuck from his body with only a little coaxing, and they fell to the floor with a mushy plap. “Fucking— keep your clothes on, Power!”
Denji ran from the bathroom without reclaiming his shirt, hiding in his room from both Power and whatever he had seen in the mirror. He’d have to come back for the shirt later— Aki always got onto them for leaving their clothes in the bathroom when they showered. But he wanted to be sure that Power would be gone. Power, and her stupid fake boobs, and whatever she’d done to him when she snapped that bra into place.
That night, Aki turned on an old cartoon while he cooked dinner— the sizzle of grease popping over the tinny background music and shouted dialogue. TV always mesmerized Power, although she complained if there wasn’t blood and gore. She still sat close to the screen, blocking the bottom half with the top of her head and horns.
Denji didn’t care about TV, really. It had been kind of novel at first, since his dad had sold the TV set when he was pretty young and they’d never had money for things like movies. But since he’d gotten to watch movies with Makima, watching grainy TV on Aki’s tiny television set had hardly been appealing. But he still watched, apathetic, until his stomach began to twist again.
The show was about some kid who got cursed, so that every time they got wet they’d change from a boy to a girl— or a girl to a boy. Denji wasn’t sure. It seemed pretty inconvenient, honestly. You probably couldn’t plan for being splashed with water in every situation, and the kid didn’t want everyone to know about it, so it just ended up being a lot of dumb shit about the kid managing all the different identities and what people thought he was— or she was. Denji could hardly keep up with his one life, so managing two seemed like a huge hassle.
So he didn’t know he felt so much envy, every time the dumb kid slipped into some water fountain or got dunked in a river. It didn’t make sense to want that. Nothing he was feeling made sense.
He took a shower after dinner. The hot water steamed over the mirror, leaving Denji alone with his thoughts, and the water, trickling over his back. His naked chest.
It was probably something wrong with his head. He knew that already, though—everyone had already made it clear that whatever Denji thought about anything was probably weird and fucked up. This was probably the same sort of thing. Whatever this was.
He rubbed his skin raw with soap and tried not to look down.
It was early in the morning when Denji couldn’t take it anymore.
Without understanding why, he crawled out of bed— over where Power was sprawled, taking up half the space in his bed, like she always ended up doing whenever she passed out there— and crept down the hall to Aki’s room.
When Makima had arranged for Denji to live with Aki, the door to Aki’s room had stayed solidly shut. He hadn’t been explicitly told to stay out, but Denji knew when not to sniff. And it wasn’t like he’d been especially compelled by whatever Aki got up to, so, whatever.
But then, Power had moved in too, along with her near-constant impulse to wreck most of Aki’s possessions and her cat that liked to sleep under Aki’s desk. Aki had waged an intense internal battle between wanting to make sure he could hear when Power was up to shit and wanting to keep at least an illusion of privacy. But at some point, he’d admitted defeat, and the door remained just slightly cracked, even when he was sleeping.
Then, after the Darkness Devil, Power would alternate between sleeping in Denji’s bed and Aki’s, so whatever privacy Aki had attempted to maintain had been thoroughly destroyed. He didn’t seem to care too much anymore anyway— even when it was Denji’s turn Aki always ended up ghosting down the hall to check on them, when he thought they were both asleep.
The light was off, and Denji was at least smart enough to feel bad about bugging Aki when he was definitely asleep, and when Denji should be too. He hovered in front of the door, hand half clenched over the knob, before finally reasoning that he’d known when he’d walked over here that Aki would be asleep, so he might as well follow through. He pulled the door open, and crept into the room.
Denji had seen Aki fall asleep on the couch enough times to know that he slept like the dead. It wasn’t something he understood— it seemed like a pretty big weakness for a devil hunter, if he was being honest. But at this point he at least knew the drill. In the dark, Denji hunted for Aki’s desk lamp, and clicked it on.
The warm yellow bulb cast dozy light over the room. Aki stayed stone still, body half curved on the bed in an uncomfortable contortion. Denji sat next to him, touching his shoulder. “Hey, Aki,” he said, voice a mutter, and felt his ears turn red.
On any other day, Aki would have remained asleep long enough for Denji to back out of this terrible idea. But as Denji hurriedly pulled his hand away, Aki’s nose wrinkled, and he slowly blinked awake. Denji’s shoulders sunk.
“Denji?” Aki’s voice was still thick with sleep, and even in the dim light he squinted like it hurt. “What’s going on? Did Power clog the toilet?”
“It’s not important,” Denji blurted. “Don’t let me bug you, actually.” He stood, planning to leave, but he couldn’t get his feet to unstick from the floor. Every attempt he made just rooted him more solidly in place.
Behind him, Aki’s gaze slowly focused on his back. “…Is everything okay?”
It was a weird sentence, from Aki. He knew it, too— there was something self conscious in the way the words formed, even through his fuzzy concern. But this whole moment was weird, and Denji figured if they both knew it he might as well take advantage of it. He glanced over his shoulder to look at Aki. “I was just, like,” he stalled, trying to find a way to word what was sitting in his chest. “Wanting to know what you thought of something I’ve been thinking about. It’s not important, but, you know…”
The lamp’s bulb was making a weird buzzing noise, filling the dead space between Denji’s fumbling sentences. Aki’s body hadn’t moved, but his eyebrows kept contracting, like if he furrowed them enough he could get to the point of Denji’s sentence. Finally, he said, words slow, “you want my advice.”
Super lame. It sounded so lame when Aki said it, in his weird, grown up way of talking about everything. “Yeah,” Denji said.
Aki looked at Denji. Looked at the alarm clock on his bedside table that was scheduled to go off in three hours (which Denji knew because whenever he couldn’t sleep he could hear Aki start to move at the same time every morning). Looked up, finally, at the ceiling, squinting into nothing. Then, he said, “okay.” And he sat up.
Before he could stop himself, Denji sat again on the bed. This time, Aki drew his legs up, making room for Denji. He waited expectantly for Denji to start talking.
“It’s just..” Denji was glad, suddenly, for the awkward configuration on the bed. Looking at Aki in the eye felt too intense. “You know. I was thinking about…” He took a breath, and said in a burst, “Aki, you’re gay, right?”
The silence suddenly got a lot thicker. Denji could feel the way Aki stared into the side of his head with a new, unwelcome intensity. When he talked, there was a beginning of an aggravated edge to his voice. “Did you wake me up at three in the morning to ask me why I’m gay?”
“No,” Denji said defensively. “It’s just— I’m trying to understand something, okay.”
“Why..” Aki stopped, and ran a hand over his face. He tried again, voice mechanically even. “Why do you think I’m gay?”
This, at least, was an easy one. “Your ears,” Denji said. And he pointed at Aki’s ear, where normally, black stud earrings would poke out from behind his bangs. “They’re both pierced, so like… One of them’s gotta be the gay one, right.”
Aki’s face was beginning to sour at his usual impressive rate. Unusually, though, he made an effort to contain it— to keep his bad mood from running off the edges of his face into the rest of the house. “We can unpack that later,” he said. “What’s your point?”
Denji wasn’t sure, was the thing. He wasn’t sure what his point was— only that there was this unknown thing lurking in the base of his stomach, something he didn’t know was good or not. He tilted his head back to look at the ceiling, like the answer was living up there. “It’s just…” He stopped. “You really don’t care about tits?”
There was a long silence, punctuated only by low buzz of Aki’s desk lamp. “You care about tits,” Aki said finally, “an unusual amount.”
“Fuck,” Denji said. He rubbed one arm over his eyes. “I know you think it’s stupid, okay. It’s...” He didn’t know. He didn’t know what it was.
Aki’s head tilted, just a little— the lamp shadowing the way he squinted at Denji. But then, he said, voice slow, ponderous: “are you thinking you don’t care about tits? And that…” He raised his eyebrow, leaving the connection for Denji to make.
“I’m not gay,” Denji said, voice definitive.
Aki didn’t argue this point. He nodded, willing to accept it without trouble. “But there’s something else about it that bothers you,” he said. “Like…” He paused, slowly feeling out his words. “That you think what you want about them— might not be normal?”
They were statements of fact, made carefully— Aki watching his reaction between every minute word. So Denji knew that he saw the way his shoulders shriveled, inching away from whatever Aki was arriving to. “I don’t wanna talk about this anymore,” he mumbled.
“Why not?”
Denji stared down at his hands. His hands, resting on his legs, and the curve of his stomach against his boxers. “When all those assassins were coming after me,” he said finally. “One of them said… That some things you’re just better not knowing about. So, maybe it’s one of those things.”
Aki considered. “I suppose that can be true in some cases,” he allowed. “But I’d rather know the truth, however painful. …And I don’t think it really is one of those things, this time.”
“So what do you think it is?” Denji challenged him, finally turning his head to look Aki in the eye. “You’ve got something in mind, right? You wouldn’t have said something like that otherwise.”
“Not really.”
Denji couldn’t make out Aki’s face clearly in the dark, so it was hard to tell if he was lying. “Yeah, right,” he said. And he looked away again.
It was a while before Aki responded. Before he said anything, he shifted to be sitting next to Denji— legs close together, the ghost of his empty sleeve batting against Denji’s arm. Denji chanced a look at him, out of the corner of his eyes, but Aki wasn’t meeting his eyes either. He was just looking at some point on the wall. Reflecting.
“Some things you might be better off knowing,” Aki said. “Some things maybe you shouldn’t. But I don’t think it’s wrong to want to get to know yourself better… Even if it’s uncomfortable in the meantime.”
“You do have something in mind,” Denji mumbled.
Aki paused again. “Only based off of what you told me,” he said, voice light. “What you asked me.”
Denji’s vision swam. He squeezed his eyes shut, insistent on blocking out whatever he was feeling, and however Aki was looking at him. “It really doesn’t matter,” he said again, because maybe if he kept saying it it would be true.
The bed creaked, and he felt the mattress rise underneath him as Aki stood. Denji dared to open his eyes to watch him move. Aki was turning to face Denji, so he could use his one remaining arm to push him down to the bed— gently, one hand firm on his shoulder. Denji didn’t fight. He let his body sag, until his head was resting against one of Aki’s lumpy pillows. His eyes kept prickling, so laying down was probably a bad idea. Whatever was burning behind his eyes only got worse the gentler Aki was.
But then, mercifully, Aki turned the lamp off, dropping them both into darkness. He went around to the far side of the bed, and laid next to Denji, a tiny sigh bursting out from behind his lips. Denji felt his throat click.
Aki’s arm cuffed around his head, almost cradling him in the crook of his elbow. “We don’t have to talk about it anymore, if you don’t want to,” he said. “It’s fine if it takes you time to figure it out.”
Denji wanted to protest more. To say that really, there was nothing to figure out, and that Denji was just making a big deal out of nothing. Power had said and done some weird Power shit, and that was all. He could get over it. But at this point, that felt even stupider. So Denji swallowed, and nodded. He didn’t trust his voice anymore, so Aki’s only answer would have to be the way the back of Denji’s neck shifted against his wrist.
Aki didn’t say anything else, only laid against him in the dark, a silent, still presence. Denji drew in breaths until his heart calmed, until he could trust himself to speak. “Should check on Power,” he muttered. “She still gets nightmares sometimes… ‘Specially if she wakes up alone.”
“Right,” Aki murmured. “I can go look— you don’t have to get up.”
“Nah,” Denji said, and he started to sit up.
Before he could get further than his elbows, though, a heavy, furry weight thudded into Denji’s chest. Meowy sank heavily against him, like a furry rock pinning him to the bed.
Denji swore, and in response, Power’s cat meowed in his face. “God, your breath stinks,” he muttered.
“What are you both doing in here?” The vague outline of Power’s body lingered in Aki’s doorway, like a horror movie monster. If a horror movie monster refused to eat vegetables or brush her teeth. “You left me alone, Denji.”
Denji grumbled, still trying to move the cat. “What’s it look like we’re doing? We’re sleeping. And you defeated the Darkness Devil, so it’s fine, right? Nothing bad’s gonna happen. You’re too tough.”
“Not important!” She stepped into the room and the bare sliver of moonlight coming through Aki’s balcony. It made her face white, almost gleaming with sweat. “I knew Meowy wouldn’t leave me for no reason. You two are too weak and pathetic to be left alone! Very good work, Meowy.” She crossed the room to crawl into bed next to them, pressing up against Denji in an insistent effort to fit.
Denji grumbled in protest, but there wasn’t any stopping her— in a matter of seconds she was insistently pretzeled next to him.
“Thanks for watching out for us, Power,” Aki murmured. “Good job.”
He was already falling back asleep. Which was really pretty annoying, because Aki’s bed really wasn’t big enough for the three of them. But if Denji wanted to move, he’d have to drag all of them with him and he just didn’t want to deal with that. So he sighed and wriggled over, making room for Power by jamming himself against Aki’s shoulder.
Meowy slid off his chest like a heavy ooze, landing between him and Power on the crook of his shoulder. Power curled happily around the cat, one arm catching around it to drape across Denji’s chest.
And then, they were asleep again, with just Denji awake. Watching the dawn light start to crawl across the ceiling.
Sometimes, when he was stuck on shit like this, he started to wonder if he had been better off when it was just him and Pochita. Even if he didn’t have money and food, it was less complicated. He didn’t have time to think about things like tits, because he was too busy trying to pay rent, and the bills, and feed him and Pochita. It was harder, but also way, way fucking easier.
Right now, though, it was okay. Denji could stand thinking a little more, if it was like this.
He let his eyes close. This time, he fell asleep.

// TCF CHAPTER 644 - 688 SPOILERS
what if the reason the disguised hilsman suspiciously smiled when saying that he wasnt apart of the thames household / his last name wasnt thames is because thames wasnt always the original name of the household or something??
(that would explain why he smiled even when saying that he isnt involved yet saying so much about cale’s mother.. i do not think he is lying or would lie so pointlessly, no him and ron are too alike in that, but enough to be twisting the question? absolutely.)
if not then we do know he is also somehow related to the thames household, judging from his hatred towards hunters and how closely hes talked about cale’s birth mother
cale also mentioned that he wasn’t white star, but also not someone he has met before, yet still friendly to him and deruth, as well as loyal people serving the henituse family (but not to violan, judging from the way he tried to grab her neck once he was discovered)
actually speaking of their conversation together, he talked about the henituse values from an outsiders perspective but was suprisingly knowledgeable about it, not only that but talked about the duchess position and not violan herself... does he have familiarity with it, or is he just knowledgable?
not only that but being able to take down a vice captain and capture him as well as notice when someone is watching him, he isnt hostile either and seems.. old? from violans perspective... and he was able to notice (or atleast know beforehand) that deruth was replaced with white star before cale and violan were... (either familiar with deruth enough to notice or familiar enough with white star to notice/know) (679)
he was smiling as he looked towards the diary too... does he know what it means? does he recognize it?
he is related to the thames, but he is not a hunter nor have the a power similar to annual rings of life (judging from the way he talked about cale’s mother with cale, he either doesnt know that cale is a transmigiator/regressor or simply does not care enough. however judging from the way he did not ask cale who he was in cale’s body like drew did in her diary, or expose who he was in front of on and hong, or say that his time is warped like some white thing, im going to assume it is the first option)
... or perhaps maybe hes the eldest orabuni that young drew thames mentioned during the trial for the annual rings of life
“– I have this weird feeling that I will like you even though we just met! You oddly look like that half-witted fool Deruth, but you also look similarly handsome as my eldest orabuni!” (664)
(and we all know how important the things that the ancient powers’ trials’s say go) (looking at you fire of destruction and shield)
that would explain why he mentioned that deruth might be able to recognize who he is and point him out, (why ever else might deruth know him if he is not either extended family or friends to his late wife? maybe relying on similarity as sibling?) (also what does he want to say to deruth? something so important that hes faked and disguised himself coincidently when white star was running around? (and more importantly was it related to thames and the research and information the household was doing, especially with white star as a reincarnator?)
not to mention why hes so familiar to cale’s late mother (clumsy like his mother, matching scary smiles mean something bad is about to happen (and mentioning these habits was when his mother was in her youth? clearly he was close to her)) (688)
maybe atleast a family member then perhaps? maybe a relative if not the older brother.. or maybe a bestfriend (unlikely. he judged that cale definitely had thames blood.)?
...but wait..
wasnt it said that drew was the last and only surviving decendent of the thames household, which is said to have perished once she married deruth and decided not to continue the household..?
if thats so.. where exactly did her elder brother go?
(when you say eldest do you think that maybe there could be more then one older brother? or is that a translation taken wrongly..?)
AND WHAT DOES THIS MEAN

EXCUSE ME??? HELLO???
BECAUSE IM KINDA (NOT REALLY) TRYING TO READ THE LINES BETWEEN WHAT SHES SAYING HERE AND I DONT LIKE THIS
so shes saying that a group of people want to hunt the souls of people (and perferably of those that might be young and weak) and somehow couldve ended with something bad going on..?
and apparently the thames household has massacured or “used” all of these people to the point where its been “resolved” and hunters will no longer appear..?
and somehow, the red light (the light from the annual rings of life ancient power flowing into drew’s diary) is the same light of that dorph managed to identify of a person that taught him how to not only use the darkness element, but also hunt darkness elementals (667)
THE HELL DOES THIS IMPLY??
drew has the exact same “light” (the element of present and innate fate? time? or something more?) to the (presumed) hunter (THAT I THINK IS HONESTLY STILL ALIVE, MIND YOU) that hunted down darkness elementals who possessed a red light (but did not absorb it? ancient powers get absorbed right?)
she also commented that the annual rings of life (which allowed people to see the time around all living things (including people whos time is warped), as the annual rings of a tree) “needed to be apart of the Thames household to use this power properly” - (665)
while thankfully it means that white star wouldnt know how to use it either (judging from not being able to tell how time is warped besides that it is for cale and choi han), it also leaves some very interesting context for WHY THE HELL WOULD A HUNTER HAVE THIS POWER THEN??
LIKE?? IT WOULD MAKE SENSE FOR A THAMES TO HAVE IT BUT THE FALSE HILSMAN DIDNT SEEM TO HAVE IT EITHER
...so if the thames were so adament about fighting against hunters who used the souls of non-reincarnating / single lifers, why is the records and the research all full of how to destroy all of those with a “warped” time.. including those single lifers...
and depending on how detailed the information on the annual ring of life is on how to eliminate such beings.. wouldnt that mean that the thames has been studying that too alongside it..?
but when the other hunter got its “red light” while the fake hilsman didnt have make sense... unless.. the hunters were originally to have it and the thames “used” them or “resolved” or took it from them for their resea-
...im sure that that is not the case.. yeah.. that couldnt ever be the case..
this seems like seriously complicated stuff... i feel like there are chills on my back and im having lemon tea for some reason... and whatever happened made the thames going to a baron to a fallen noble... haha oh dear..
...at the very least, we can count on having his highness crown prince alberu to tell us what happens once he asks the king! yeah! im sure its nothing big to worry about and it would all be revealed in due time, theres no need to worry about that kind of stuff!
#trash of the count's family#lout of count’s family#tcf#disclaimer that this is literally all just speculation and i actually have no idea whats going on im just bsing whatever is on my mind rn#is there a spoiler type tag or whatever i could use for this? idk man its my first post here#i lowkey have no idea what im talking about but im going to pretend i do incase it all gets revealed later so i can laugh at myself#nevermind the freaking fact that raon’s present time element is a counter to fate because oh god thats totally foreshadowing to something#also im so sorry if half of the things i say looks like a clusterfrick of tumblr tags half the time#i cant wait for all of this to be revealed tho because clearly somethings going on here and i cant wait until it shows up in the future

Hi! How are you doing? ^^
Wanted to share one theory and to know your opinion about it.
What if in the final battle Toga is badly injured by the heroes but Ochako saves her because she feels this way. After their conversation about everything Ochako brings Toga to Recovery Girl and asks her to heal a villain because she is also a human.
There is a feeling that Shigaraki's Regeneration will go to someone else, perhaps to his comrades or Izuku. Then what if Toga asks Recovery Girl to share a drop of her blood so that Toga can get her quirk? In this case she will be able to heal Shigaraki in a critical situation.
There are so many beautiful points about that:
1) Toga will use her "monstrous" quirk to save a life.
2) Toga will reach out to someone.
3) Toga will be able to save the person in front of her (she couldn't save Twice but she will save Shigaraki).
4) Recovery Girl as a hero will show an understanding of the fact that Toga and Ochako are both just girls who want to help their beloved ones.
5) Someone will give their blood to Toga voluntarily.
6) Toga and Recovery Girl have a lot in common. They are both "forever young", hiding their age either with a hero name or with school uniform. They are both girls in boys' groups: Recovery Girl & All Might, Nezu, Gran Torino, Nighteye and Toga & League. It would be nice to connect them in some way.
7) To be honest, if Shigatoga ever has a romantic moment then quirk that heals through kissing would be just perfect.. 😳👉👈
8) This will also be a good chance to show the similarity of their (Shigaraki and Toga's) quirks.
For example, in Izuocha Ochako has Zero Gravity and Deku obtained Float. Also, Ochako has supporting items to match Deku's Black Whip.
In Shigatoga, they both have "bad" and almost uncontrollable (due the years of abuse) quirks they are defined by. They are both good in hiding their presence as well. Their power development is also similar: Shigaraki obtained All For One to give more to his comrades (+AFO), and Toga unlocked the ability to steal quirks along with appearance to do her best for herself and for League.
It would be interesting to see if and how their beautiful parallels are exploited.
What do you think? :)
Nice theory, @shiroi-no-kumo-blog.
I am not really sure about the similarities with Recover girl or would she support them. I dont think it will happen but who knows. And i dont know about the kiss lol (maybe hopefully). But i think in the future, there will be time that Toga will try to save someone.
She started as selfish little girl who couldnt care less about others but she grown up to the point, she is questioning of human life. Yeah, she still doesnt really care about heroes and civillians yet but the fact that she started to think about worth of villains is a big step. She is the only villain who brings up this.
Characters like Dabi and Shigaraki is too self destructive and suicidal to think about this. But thankfully, there is Toga. She has a desire to protect her friends, just like how Uraraka wants to protect heroes.
The one Toga will try to save high possibility will be Shigaraki. There are a lot of developments and build up for them. Shigaraki is one of the people Toga cares about the most (i honestly think Shigaraki is her favorite in league). He is the first person she sees as invidual. He is the one who gave her home and trusted her and accepted her for the first time. Shigaraki really has a big impact on Toga's character. This is why i think Toga will have/has a desire to protect Shigaraki since he is too self destructive.
Shigaraki is someone who thinks he is only capable of bring destruction but Toga is a character who can prove him wrong cause being with Shigaraki is truly makes Toga happy. She is happy to meet him. She loves being with him. He is Toga's savour. If Shigaraki wasnt there, league but especially Toga wouldnt be able to heal this much. This is why i think their relationship is important for both of them.

And like you said, i am waiting IzuOcha and ShigaToga development too. Uraraka who questions the worth of heroes life, Toga who questions the worth of villains life can reach out to Deku and Shigaraki and telling them to stop killing theirselves cause their life is worthy and they care about them, they dont want them to die like this. It doesnt have to be this way, they dont have to do this to make their dream come true so its fine.
(I am fine btw, hope you are too ^^.)

Pyrrha panted as she put her spear through another grimm, looking back towards the family that was behind her. “There’s an airship waiting for you at the safe zone. The way is clear for now.”
The mother nodded and took her children’s hands to lead them off to the safe zone.
Pyrrha sighed and put her hand to her ear, clicking a button for her communicator. “Sector 6 is all clear.”
Fiona’s voice came over the communicator, sounding relieved. “You and Yang should head over to Sector 8. Robyn and May are in a bit of trouble with the surge of grimm from all the panic.”
“We’ll be right over.”
Yang sighed and stretched her shoulder out a bit. “Where to next?”
“Sector 8.” Pyrrha took a moment to put her weapon away, pausing as she did. “Do you… think Ironwood is doing the right thing?”
“You mean putting the kingdom under martial law? Honestly, I’m not sure, but what else can we do?” Yang got onto the hover bike they were lent from Pietro, letting out a heavy sigh. “Salem’s immortal, she has her agents here already and Ruby’s one of them, not to mention that none of us have a plan and Ozpin… he was never planning on telling any of us any of this.”
“I know but… was that really a bad thing?” Pyrrha got onto her own hoverbike, her grip tightening around the handle bars. “Considering how Ironwood reacted after we told him, I think Ozpin had a point in not telling us.”
“Point or no point, what can we do? And if telling Ironwood now keeps us from being like Ozpin-”
Pyrrha zoned out as Yang spoke, her vision quickly changing once again to a small village, grimm attacking. She could feel the anger boil up inside of her as the air around her swirled, fire shooting from her hands as lightning struck each grimm. But even that wasnt enough, the village falling to the grimm, leaving a small girl crying in the ruins before feeling a sword pierce her back.
“Pyrrha? Are you okay?” asked Yang.
Pyrrha blinked a couple times as she came to, nodding slowly. “Y-yeah, I’m fine.”
“You sure? You didnt move for fifteen minutes. I was worried that maybe something happened.”
“I… its nothing.”
“You sure?”
“I’m sure-” Pyrrha stopped, feeling a pull in her chest. She looked behind her, putting her hand onto her spear and getting off the hoverbike. “Yang, go.”
“Pyrrha? What’s going-”
“Cinder’s here and you need to leave, now.” Pyrrha moved her shield to block an incoming arrow, glaring as she looked for Cinder. “Dont argue, go now! Get the others and I’ll hold her off!”
Yang sighed, hesitating for a moment before she watched Pyrrha block another couple arrows with inhuman speed. “I’ll be right back!”
Pyrrha held her ground as Yang rushed off, holding her shield up. “Cinder! I know you’re there!”
“You can feel the pull too, cant you? The way the maiden power halves draw themselves to each other.” Cinder smirked as she walked into view, her bow to her side and she pulled another arrow from the quiver on her back. “And now, its time I finally get to take back what belongs to me.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ruby rushed around Mantle, making note of every one of Ironwood’s soldiers. Part of her was thankful that he never wisened up to Salem’s activities, but as she watched the mechanical soldiers turn on the citizens they were supposed to be protecting, she couldnt help but feel the same kind of anxiety she did at Beacon.
Ruby quickly started looking for an airship to get up to Atlas, still needing to make sure the shields could never go up. If Ironwood had his way-
“Ruby! Stop right there!”
Ruby froze in place as she heard Weiss’s voice behind her. Glyphs already formed at her feet to keep her from moving. “Weiss…”
Weiss glared at Ruby, keeping her rapier pointed at her former team leader. “Why?”
“Why what?”
“Why would you work with Salem?”
Ruby let out a sigh. “If you knew the truth about Ozma and Salem, you’d know that Ozma cant be trusted. That he lied about everything.”
“We know the truth.” Weiss started walking closer to Ruby, watching Blake from the corner of her eye and nodding to her. “We know what happened between Ozma and Salem, but we also know what Salem is really planning.”
“Salem is going to bring about a new order to the world! One where no one has to suffer-”
Blake dropped down in front of Ruby, pulling out her own weapon. “She’s going to destroy Remnant, Ruby. She doesnt want anyone to no longer suffer, she wants to finally end the curse that’s been placed on her. Come with us and we can use the lamp to show you.”
“You… you’re lying!” Ruby reached back to her scythe, gripping the shaft. “She’s going to do the world a favor-”
“Do you really believe that?” Weiss placed a hand on Ruby’s shoulder, pressing her rapier into her back. “Where’s the Ruby we got to know? The one who wanted to help others?”
Blake moved closer, keeping an eye on Ruby. “You once told me that you wanted to be a huntress to make the world a better place. That even though life isnt a fairytale, that we could at least try to make things right. Do you no longer believe that?”
Ruby took a deep breath, closing her eyes for a moment. She could hear the truth in Weiss’s words, but she still couldnt believe it. Salem would never want to destroy humanity. She only wanted to help it… “I’m sorry.” In a swift motion, she pulled her scythe off her back, the blade slicing Weiss’s cheek and pushing her back, giving her time to leave the glyphs that held her still.
Weiss pulled back, holding her cheek with her hand as she activated her aura to heal. “Blake! Now!”
Blake rushed towards Ruby, using her shadow clones to distract her while she threw her sword around, trying to wrap Ruby in the ribbon.
Ruby used her semblance to rush away from Blake, pulling back for a moment. “I cant let you stop this.”
“And you need to see the truth-” Weiss was cut off as Yang called out from her scroll.
“Cinder is here! Pyrrha needs help!”
Weiss hesitated for a moment before looking towards Blake. “We need to help Pyrrha.”
“But Ruby-”
“Ruby can wait. Cinder is after Pyrrha and we need to get there now!”
Blake sighed and looked towards Ruby before putting her weapon away and using her shadow clones to rush out to Pyrrha.
Ruby took a deep breath and put her scythe on her back. “If Cinder’s here, then Salem wont be far behind. Are you sure you’re ready?”
Weiss shook her head, putting her rapier away. “Probably not, but that wont stop me.” She created a path of glyphs and started running to Pyrrha, using the glyphs to speed herself up.
Ruby sighed and looked towards the storm before letting herself disappear in a flurry of petals. She was already too late and hoped Salem wouldnt be disappointed.

Oh God
TimeTraveler!Son x Haikyuu!! Part 2
a/n: hehe i wouldnt put ‘x haikyuu’ if manager y/n ends up with that certain character. youll just have to,,,, wait for the end 😏
he didnt want to lie but he had to so he could survive
hinata offered his hand to help him up and natsu winced at the scratches and the slight headache as he stood on his two feet
‘you okay?’
hinata asked and natsu nodded
‘yea, just a headache’
natsu tried to play it off as cooly as he could bc this must’ve been from the car hit before and he couldnt just say he got ran over by a damn car
‘where do you live? i can go and treat your wounds there’
natsu was about to respond but he remembers hes not in tokyo anymore and he cant just spout out his address
so he did the thing his mom told him to do whenever it was necessary
he lied
‘i-um,,,’
he fumbled for an excuse but he sighed to maintain the act
‘i got kicked out’
he mumbled and hinata had to make him repeat it twice because he said it so quietly
the tangerine boy gasped and held his arms
‘what?! why?!’
natsu sniffled
‘my dad,,,, he just,,, doesnt want me’
well, that was actually true
so a true statement could equal that lie, right?
thankfully, hinata bought it and he grabbed his arm to walk forward while his other was pushing his bike
‘i hit you with my bike so the least i could do is take you to my house and treat you!’
and that was what they did
natsu’s phone was dead even though he was sure he charged it from denki’s powerbank during practice but it remained its black screen no matter how many times he hit the power button
his surroundings was also something unfamiliar
his mother only kept him in tokyo and never took him to go visit her family because she was kicked out and had to go live with her auntie when she found out about him and his father refused to help her
‘so, sendai, huh?’
he mumbled and hinata looked at him confused
‘sounds like youre not from around here. where you from?’
‘t-tokyo’
he replied and saw hinata’s eyes brighten
‘oh?! you look like youre my age so you must have been in a high school in tokyo, right? what school?’
‘yuuei’
‘hah?! yuuei?! what is that?!’
natsu rolled his eyes and shrugged
‘a school’
hinata persisted though
‘do you know other schools?! any other school friends?! like nekoma?! or fukurodani?!’
natsu shook his head and he was supposed to be happy that he got to meet, even talk, to his idol yet his younger self was much more hyper than his mellowed out behavior on tv
‘i stick to my friends from yuuei’
‘but what are you doing all the way here?’
natsu’s throat dried up and he watched his feet kick the pebbles to distract him of his urge to just whine and throw a tantrum with the confusion from this mess
‘i dont know’
he choked out and he was so tired and confused and all he wants to do is cry in his mother’s arms like he used to but she doesnt even know he exists
hinata sensed the tension and sadness from the boy beside him and tried his best to stay quiet until they get home
to say his mom was angry was an understatement
‘SHOYO, DONT YOU KNOW TO WATCH WHERE YOURE GOING?!’
‘kaa-san i was so angry and bakageyama was yelling at me and hit me and-’
‘THAT DOESNT GIVE YOU AN EXCUSE TO RUN SOMEONE OVER!’
natsu sat there on their couch awkwardly watching the black-haired woman yell at the human tangerine
he coughed in impulse and she turned away from her son and went to sit next to the h/c boy
‘dear, im so sorry for my son and his terrible biking. i didnt catch your name when you entered, what is it?’
even hinata forgot to ask his name but thats such a hinata thing to do though
natsu froze
if he was to say his mother’s last name, it would raise suspicion that he might know her in this time period and izuku has shown him enough doctor who to show him what happens when he messes up in time
again, he lied
‘kiri,,,shima,,, natsu. kirishima natsu’
he inwardly apologized to eijirou for using his last name
mrs. hinata raised a hand to her mouth with a surprised gasp
‘oh! my daughter’s name is also natsu! natsu, dear! can you come here for a second?’
natsu heard soft sounds from the stairs and she shyly walked down
‘come say hi’
she softly urged her daughter to come closer and the little girl ran to hide behind her older brother who gently smiled and held her hand
‘well, thats her. she just turned 10 a few days ago. look dear, kirishima-kun has the same name as you!’
she waved slightly and natsu felt his heart swell at the sight of the adorable little girl
his mother never really had time for relationships so he was an only child and never got to experience a sibling, only hearing the experience of having siblings from his friend, shouto
mrs. hinata placed a gentle hand on his arm to revert his attention back to her
‘shoyo told me what happened and im sorry that this is all happening to you’
he felt guilty at the sight of her sad eyes because this was all a lie but he knew if he told them the real reason, they wouldnt believe him
so he had to continue with the lie
‘everything was falling apart and i wanted to leave everything behind. so i just took the shinkansen to nowhere and ended up here’
mrs. hinata felt her heart tug because he was just a little boy and he was too young to experience this so she offered him something he shouldnt have agreed to but again, survival
‘you can stay with us in the mean time. our guest room has been collecting dust so you can live here’
‘what? no! i can’t!’
natsu instinctually turned it down because he hated people giving him charity
but the woman squeezed his arm to give him a smile
‘i will not allow a child to live in the streets because of something he couldnt help’
‘arent you worried youre inviting a total stranger in your home?’
but she gave him a knowing smile
‘im a mother. i can trust you, boy’
in exchange for board and food, he promised to get a part time job so he could pay her back and get out of their house as quickly as he could
shoyo led him to the bathroom upstairs so he could treat the wounds from the ground
natsu sat on the closed toilet seat while his literal idol was putting cream on his boo-boos
he still cant wrap his head with everything
maybe it was because he was so busy trying to come up with lies that he wasnt able to fully sit down and think about the fact that he just TRAVELED BACK IN TIME and could accidentally change it
‘shoyo, what year is it?’
he mumbled
‘2012′
he answered and natsu sighed but his head perked up
oh god
2012
thats a year away from 2013
the year he was born
that meant shoyo’s team manager was going to give birth to him next year
‘why? did you hit your head so far that you forgot?’
hinata joked but he paled when natsu didnt laugh
‘OH GOD DID YOU?!’
‘NO! AND STOP YELLING!’
natsu shouted, equally surprised
‘whew, thank god. again, im so sorry i hit you’
‘shoyo, dont worry about it, okay? im fine, i swear’
during dinner, mrs. hinata told him about his school situation
‘you can go to karasuno with shoyo. what year were you in?’
‘first’
‘perfect! shoyo is too so he could easily help you around the school!’
natsu nodded quietly, still out of it and his brain finally starting to accept this impossible reality
‘but i dont think i could help you with the entrance exams. im not the most-um-smartest, per se’
shoyo apologized but natsu already knew that
he was no extreme fanatic but he knew quite a lot about hinata shoyo, the player he watched during the 2021 olympics and the reason he started playing volleyball
natsu dreamed to join the msby jackals just like his idol did and eventually reach the national team like hinata did
it was during the olympics of 2021, he knew he wanted to be like him
this boy who sat next to him was the reason he came to love volleyball along with his other idol, oikawa tooru, from the argentina volleyball team after seeing that legendary match
when oikawa hit that service ace, natsu wanted to be able to receive that
he was merely 8 and his neighbor, midoriya inko, was babysitting him and she placed him and her son who was his friend, izuku, in front of the tv where they watched the olympics match
‘someday, ill be someone great. ill be great like him’
he promised and from then on, he worked to achieve that goal
‘natsu? hello?’
he was shaken from his thoughts as shoyo nudged him back to reality
mrs. hinata laughed
‘maybe you should head to bed early, dear. you must be tired after having a hard journey’
he nodded and was about to go and wash his dishes when she stopped him
‘no. go and sleep, ill take care of this’
‘i have to do my part in here, hinata-san. please, let me do this’
she finally agreed and he was scrubbing the plates when his mind wandered over to possible solutions on how he could go back
there was an episode that he watched with izuku that the character had to do something to go back
and he had a feeling that he would have to do the same thing
but what would that something be?
there had to be a reason he was thrown all the way in this time and it couldnt just be a coincidence that supposedly, this would be around the same time his mother would get pregnant
but who would it be?
he finished putting the plates on the drying rack and he felt really thirsty suddenly
opening the fridge, he found no water bottles and natsu had a very sensitive stomach so he couldnt drink tap water
his next favorite beverage was there and he pulled a glass from the cabinet
‘hinata-san, is it okay if i can have some milk?’
he called out and she shouted that it was okay
natsu poured the drink on his glass and started drinking it when hinata entered the kitchen and snickered at him
‘yknow, you remind me of my idiot teammate. none of my other friends drink straight milk except for him’
natsu placed the glass down and wiped his lips
‘chocolate milk make me sick and i hate the taste of flavoring in milk. but i just hate flavoring in general. except for gari gari popsicles, those are good’
natsu reasoned, watching hinata move across the room to get an apple
‘still ew. but come on! lets go to bed so i can show you around school early before practice tomorrow!’
natsu noticed his excitement by the way he bounced in place and he chuckled
it reminded him of his friends mina and denki
hinata led them both to his room so he could check his wounds again just to make sure
then something caught his eye
‘kirishima-kun you like volleyball?!’
that threw him off
partly because he wasnt used to being called by his friend’s last name
but also because of the question
‘huh? how do you know that?’
natsu asked, almost defensively
hinata shrugged
‘i saw your volleyball shoes in your bag’
hinata reasoned and excitedly pointed at them
‘you should play for us! im part of the team too! oh oh! what position do you play?!’
‘l-libero’
natsu stuttered out, slightly overwhelmed by hinata’s energy
hinata started circling him, inspecting his height and looking at him up and down
‘yanno, kirishima-kun, youre really tall. like much taller than the rest of my club. maybe not saltyshima but really!! youre so tall!!’
hinata whined in envy and natsu laughed
‘blame it on the paternal side of the family. my ma isnt really tall’
he laughs but then memories of his mother resurfaced and he suddenly felt gloomy, guilty, even, bc he doesnt know if time stopped there or it kept going and if so, shes probably worried sick
and he knew she was always one who blamed herself
hinata noticed his downcast expression and thought he probably remembers his dad and got sad since he got kicked out
so our baby sunshine freaked out and he frantically waved his hands around
‘oh no! gomen kiri-kun! gomen! i really didnt mean to make you think about him! gomen!!!’
he even bowed which surprised the h/c boy and made him stand back up
‘o-oi shoyo! dont! you didnt because i wasnt thinking about him!’
he fussed and patted hinata’s hair
‘i dont care about him. to be honest, there isnt much to think about’
he didnt think about what he said until he heard himself
natsu’s eyes widened, fearful of how hinata could take it but he flinched when the orange-haired boy’s eyes were filled with his own tears
‘OH NO!! KIRI-KUN!!!’
then launched another series of apologies and natsu had to calm him down
oh dear
it was early in the morning like 5 when hinata bursted into natsu’s room
the loud shout of shoyo made his eyes blink open and he groaned before turning to the side
‘come on, kiri-kun! we need to go to take your exam!’
‘nooooooooo’
‘yeeessssssss’
it was quite a battle for hinata to even just get natsu out of bed but he managed to bribe the latter with some milk bread from the bakery down the street
‘2′
natsu showed his two fingers and hinata sighed before nodding
‘yes. now go hurry so we can leave!’
dressed in his grey sweatpants and a yuuei sweatshirt, natsu cursed as he only has clothes good for 2 days and he didnt want to bother the hinatas so he was at a loss
mrs hinata bid the two boys good bye and natsu was yawning and dragging his body to walk while hinata was skipping over to his bike
then he finally realized the problem
he nervously looked at natsu and the taller boy didnt understand why he was looking at him that way
‘what?’
shoyo pointed at the bike and awkwardly smiled
‘uh,,, you see,,, i dont think youd,,, fit,,, at the back seat’
natsu shrugged
‘then ill bike. ive done it before’
he sauntered over to the bike and swiftly lifted his leg before testing out the brake handles
‘its good and better than mine back home’
‘a-are you-’
‘sit down, sho’
hinata gripped on to the back of natsu’s sweatshirt as he told him the directions to how to get to the school
natsu remembered watching an interview of hinata talking about his high-school life and he remembered the star player talking about his dedication to go to karasuno everyday for volleyball
and the boy couldn’t believe hes doing that right now, with his idol literally behind him, and driving to the legendary karasuno high school
from the jackals to the adlers and even some other teams like the frogs, natsu cheered for them
there was a memory of his mother sitting with him on their couch during one of her rare day offs as they rewatched the recorded copy of the olympics
it has become natsu’s favorite thing to watch
‘with great talent comes great hardships. people don’t become good overnight and i watched those people suffer through it all but look where they are now’
‘KIRISHIMA, WATCH OUT! COWS CROSSING!’
natsu was snapped out of his thoughts at hinata’s shout
then it morphed into pure and utter confusion
‘cows?’
shoyo laughed
‘since youre from the city, this must be a weird sight for you, huh? well, in the countryside, this happens a lot!’
but natsu didnt mind
in fact, he loved cows
he loved any farm animal in general
maybe it was his upbringing in the hustle and bustle of the city that he grew to love the countryside
shoto took him with his family to a trip to the country once and he remembered loving the smell of grass
they were able to do an activity in a farm where they worked in a rice farm and the peace and serenity was something he will always remember
his mother was lucky she grew up in a place like this
‘kiri-kun, ive been wanting to ask, how is your volleyball team in the city? are you a powerhouse?’
natsu felt pride bubble up in his chest
‘of course! we got second place in nationals!’
he boasted and blurted out before he could stop himself
then he felt fear
he shouldnt have said that because for all he knows, yuuei probably doesn’t exist at this time period
hinata had a different reaction and his eyes shone
‘WHAT?! WOAH! SO COOL! I HAVE TO TELL OUR CAPTAIN THAT WE’RE GETTING A POWERHOUSE STUDENT!’
‘uh-i-uh-’
natsu didnt know what to say because he had a feeling he definitely just did an oopsie
so he switched topics really quick to divert the attention away from his past
‘o-oi sho, once youre done being a pro volleyball player and stuff, we should have our own rice farm’
of course it was such a random idea but it distracted the orange boy
hinata shrugged
‘i mean,,, i have to be a pro first but i guess we can!’
‘hmm,,,, i dont think you have to worry about that’

---- ---- ----- -----
Sometimes people do things without reason to give themselves reason.
It’s a bit of a strange thought, but it’s really the only thing that makes sense to you in this situation right now at lease.
You watch your notebook go sailing across the hallway floor, sliding like a hockey puck until it smacks with finality against the opposite wall. You stare, still on your hands and knees from where you’d been about to pick it up and feel an incoming sigh well up in your lungs, hefty and full of power.
The sigh leaves your lips, nothing but a quiet, big gust of air. It does nothing compared to the racket of laughter filling the hall, shrill giggles that make you wonder if your own laugh sounds like that. You pray not.
In a perfect world, you imagine yourself turning your head to the trio of girls behind you—always in threes, isn’t it?—turning around to face their laughter with a disgusted frown and opening your mouth and spitting out, “ What the hell is your problem?” They’d probably turn white as ghosts and go screaming for the hills.
But the girls don’t go screaming for the hills. They continue to laugh and those words never leave your lips. They can’t, anyway, and your notebook is all the way at the other end of the hall since one of them sent it flying with a good kick. You remain there on your knees, staring after it for a long while before you turn back to the three girls.
They smile at you, bright, glossy sneers pulled over their lips.
You’re not really sure what it is but you think this is where you hypothesis comes into play—bullying doesn’t quite make sense, but at a school like Shiratorizawa where the students are rich and wonderful and have mostly met the hierarchy of needs necessary for a good life—they get bored. And when students are bored their minds wander, their hands wander, and their eyes wander too, all the way until they land on the girl who never says a word in the corner of their class they like to call a freak even though her problem isn’t freakish—it’s perfectly diagnosable.
When people get bored they sometimes need a reason to remind themselves they exist, even if there really is no reason for that at all.
“Oh, sorry,” the first one says, exactly the way they would in a drama—it’s a little amazing, actually. Maybe art imitates life more than you thought. “We didn’t see it there.”
“You shouldn’t just crawl on the floor like that,” another says. “What if someone tripped over you?”
“You look sad like that,” the last one says, pitifully. “Need some help?”
You gaze at them for a long moment, meeting their eyes in silence. They snicker, putting hands daintily over their mouths. They’re the annoying types who like to make sure their arm sleeves are folded up nice and neat so everyone can see the ink black words scrawled out on their skin, make sure it’s not hindered at all, bold and visible.
They start shooting each other looks. “Can you believe her?” they say to each other. “Look at her, oh my god. Is she for real?” and “Wow, this is so sad. We should stop.”
But they’re bored, so of course they’re not going to stop.
It’s useless, but you move your fingers anyways, aggressively shifting your hands in the air.
“ No, thanks. You can scram you pieces of shit. I’m tired of choking on your perfume. ”
It’s quite a hefty amount of words leaving your fingers. They take it as your way of feebly apologizing or saying something that fits their narrative and they giggle, turning on their heels and leaving you behind. This probably won’t be the last you see of them, not until graduation, but that’s fine.
It’s just one more year.
You wait until they disappear around the corner and finally stand up, brushing dust off your skirt and your knees. You stare at the floor for a few minutes, thinking up words and sentences in your head and using the memory of voices you like to imagine your own voice sounding just like that—telling them off and giving them a scare.
“W-What? You’re not mute? Oh my god!”
Yeah. You think, scoffing in silence at yourself. As if.
You feel a bit more resentful than usual even though this isn’t really anything new. They’ve done worse; tripping you in the halls or shoving you on their way to their desks. You’re just a picture perfect target in their pitifully cliche world to give them more meaning to their otherwise useless lives.
When you think of it in such a haughty manner, it does make you feel a bit better. Just a bit, because this still sucks.
You shake your head, reluctant to go get your notebook but knowing you need to do it anyway. You rub the etched, pale marking on your wrist for reassurance and start the long trek down the hall, keeping your eyes on the floor.
If it gets anymore annoying or anymore physical, you’ll bring it up to the teachers. You hate the thought of getting the staff involved but you’re not stupid enough to let them get bold enough to shove you down some stairs and risk your life. Who knew what the hell these pigeons were capable of? You’d just be the sad, bullied mute kid telling on the teachers but who cared?
No one.
Your stickered notebook pops up in your vision, grinning food stickers beaming back up at you. You blink, briefly terrified for a second before your head quickly snaps upwards.
His shocking red hair juts up in your field of vision first, followed by the easy, sneaky looking slant of his eyes and the almost perched little way his lips curve up into a tiny, peckish smile. Beside his face he throws up a giant peace sign with his two fingers.
“Hiyah,” he says, grinning cheekily at you. “This is yours, rrrrriiiiggghhhtt?”
He’s in your class, you realize, mind racing. Tendou, I think. He’s on the volleyball team and he sits two chairs behind you. You remember all this because you always collect the papers up at the front and see his name, messy and hurried. And he talks a lot too. He’s loud and laughs and teases people all the time in class—you watch him sometimes because you’re a bit jealous of how much he talks, how much he’s able to talk, shifting the tone of his voice in all these little creative ways, whether because he’s making fun of someone or just answering a question.
He feels like someone who really, really makes good use of his voice. Makes sure it's used, you mean. Doesn’t waste it.
You like that.
Tendou flaps the book once in front of you. You blink, quickly nodding and reaching out to take it.
He holds it up over his head, grinning down at you.
You stare up at him in disbelief, feeling your stomach sink.
Not him too. You knew he was notorious for being disliked amongst some of your peers—people tended to forget you were mute, not deaf—and he teased people however he liked. He was a generally tough nut to figure out no matter how you looked at it, but you never took him for a small time school bully either.
Disheartened, you wordlessly look up at him, frowning. Tendou continues to smile, holding your notebook over his head.
“Is that what you say to someone who helps you?” he says. “Nooooothing?”
I can’t. You mouth, pressing your hands to your mouth. I can’t. Sorry. You move your lips, exaggerating how you mouth the words. Thank you. Please give it back.
“Nope!” Tendou says. “Try again.”
He’s ridiculously tall. He really must be good at volleyball too. There’s no way you’re getting it with a measly jump. Your hand clenches into a fist at your side, your free hand twitching on instinct to sign out your words but you wordlessly try mouthing them at him again, feeling your frustration bubble up useless into your throat.
“Come on, I know you can do it,” Tendou says cheerfully. You clench your fist harder. His free hand moves sloppily in the air in front of you, waving his fingers in a lazy sort of manner that matches the easy look on his face, amused. “Try again!”
Wait a minute.
Your eyes quickly hone in on his free hand, staring at him in stunned disbelief. Tendou’s smile widens and he moves his hand again, shifting his fingers. With purpose. Not uselessly. You stare at Tendou’s hand, eyes growing round in shock. Your jaw drops and you look back at Tendou.
“Try,” Tendou signs and says, grinning like an imp, “Again!”
Your hands quickly move, “Thank you.”
Tendou drops your notebook right into yours hands, grinning. You stare, stunned and disbelieving, a part of you realizing he signs terribly—he must’ve just learned—and Tendou throws his hands behind his head with a whistle. “There ya go! You’re not so mute now, are ya!”
Your eyes shoot up to Tendou’s but he’s already turning, waving his hand at you and disappearing around the hall. “Bye bye (L/n)-chan!”
You’re still standing in the hallway like an idiot, staring at the spot where Tendou had been in disbelief.
Tendou, the loud, tall, bright red-head kid in your class, the same kid you never saw yourself ever communicating with, the same kid who was on your school’s top notch volleyball team, the same kid who made fun of people and scared others off and only hung out with his team—
Knew how to sign? A bit? Badly?
You blink, stunned.
Huh?
---- ---- -------
“Wow! This thing is practically empty!”
Your head shoots up in shock at the familiar voice, eyes going round as Tendou sits in the desk in front of you—it’s very much not his desk and you think you can see the bothered student at the front by the door, but his friends shoo him away from saying anything as Tendou continues to flip through your notebook. It’s nothing private—small questions to people or asking someone to hand you something when you couldn’t speak up or gesture. This notebook was the one you carted around to try and communicate with your classmates, hoping to start conversations and talk with them.
No one used it, so you didn’t either.
Tendou doesn’t look the slightest bit bothered, big and lanky and taking up all the space as he continues to flip through the notebook. He hums to himself, lips pursed in that funny little way of his until he gets to the empty pages.
You stare at him like some kind of exotic bird, a bit mystified by his presence.
“Say, (L/n)-chan,” Tendou says. “Isn’t this kind of sad? You even wrote Communication Notebook on this, but there’s not much communication going on, is there?”
You move your hands, signing, “ Not many people to talk to. It can’t be helped.”
Tendou’s eyes rapidly follow your hands and he squints, making a constipated face. You exhale quietly in amusement, signing again, slower, watching to see if he understands. Tendou’s face becomes unreadable and then he turns to you, lips pulled up into a massive, almost creepy grin.
“(L/n)-chan, how bold! Didya just say you like me?”
You shake your head. Tendou blows a loud horse sigh through his lips, flapping them. He’s clearly upset you didn’t make more of a show of the whole joke. Instead, you take your notebook from his willing hands and write. “Sorry. I was wondering if you knew how to sign. There aren’t many people to talk to so it can’t be helped.”
“Nah, it’s fine,” Tendou says, waving a hand. “I only learned a little to get your attention anyway. Makes sense~”
You stare at Tendou, stunned by his honesty.
“Aren’t ya bored of just sitting here all quiet?” Tendou asks.
You write, “I guess.”
“Ugh. I’d get bored. I like talking, you know? It fills up the silence real nice. You know what I mean?”
“ Yes. I like it when you talk too.”
“That was supposed to be a joke. I was kinda making fun of you. (L/n)-chan are ya not good at picking up jokes too? Or are you just flirting with me?”
“No. It’s just how I feel.”
“Haha, okay, you weirdo! Why don’t you teach me some more sign language then, hmm? I bet you’ll get awful tired writing in that all day and I’m a pretty quick study~”
You stare at Tendou, lowering your book and frowning at him. Tendou continues to grin, his little perched lip look, sneaky and unassuming as he waggles his brows at you. You sort of understand why your classmates call him creepy, but it’s mostly from his heights and mannerisms more than anything else. Otherwise, Tendou Satori is just… another teenage boy.
You pinch your fingers together into an okay sign, still marveling at the strange creature in front of you.
Tendou’s eyes drift absently to the pale mark on your wrist and he grins, holding up his fingers in a peace sign, using it like scissors to cut your okay sign in half.
You stare at him.
“Sheesh, can’t get any reaction out of you, can I? What a tough crowd!”
--- --- --- ---- ----
This is the first time you’ve ever had class with Tendou. It’s your first time properly “talking” to him too. You know him from the announcements, from the rumours that spread here and there about his unsettling ways and most importantly, you see him on the screens when your school calls the students together to watch the boys’ volleyball team dominate Sendai’s qualifiers all over again.
Outside of staring at him from time to time and appreciating the way he talks, that day two weeks ago now in the hallway is still the first time the two of you have ever properly interacted. The day after that he approached you in class and now everyday since—Tendou talks to you.
And he talks a lot too.
Between classes he talks to you, sidling up with his lanky, swaying body like some kind of cowboy from a foreign western. He perches over and sprawls across your desk like the two of you have been friends for years, talking about school, about class, about your classmates even or this and that, but he mostly talks about you, anime, or volleyball.
He walks you between classes since the two of you mostly share each one and he stands or crouches by your desk, talking and talking while you frantically scribble or take a few minutes each class period to try to teach him new phrases and words. He didn’t lie about being a quick study, but he’s still sloppy so it’s funny to watch.
This whole thing is a bit bewildering, to be honest. You don’t know what prompted Tendou Satori to start talking to you and make such an emblazoned effort, but maybe it’s for something similar to why those three girls like to pick on you. For no real reason at all.
You don’t really mind it, to be honest. Reason or not—he’s an entirely welcome presence, jokes, teasing, and strangeness—all of it.
“Did you like this week’s Jump ?”
“Yes,” you sign and then switch to writing. “The new chapter for Chainsaw Man was good. It made me sad though.”
“Wow, wow, (L/n)-chan you like the gorey stuff, huh?” Tendou muses, tapping your book. “Scary! I thought you’d like We Never Learn better or one of the other ones.”
“ Act-Age is good,” you write. “I’m invested. Which one do you follow? ”
“The classics! One Piece! My Hero! All the typical, easy to understand, not too complicated—I’m just kidding, don’t you think Denji’s an idiot?”
“ Yes, but I like him too. ”
“(L/n)-chan, don’t tell me that’s your type of guy,” Tendou gasps, looking scandalized. “Uneducated perverts?”
“ No, ” you sign and then write, “ I like guys that seem hard to understand but aren’t.”
“Ugh, that sounds like a headache!” Tendou flops entirely onto your desk and you raise your notebook to write. “I can only talk about Jump with you, Wakatoshi said he won’t read it until the end of the season for us! Can you believe him?”
“Yes. ”
“Traitor! (L/n)-chan, you beautiful traitor~ How cruel~”
You turn your notebook over so Tendou can read it. He squints up at you.
“Not that I mind, but Tendou, is there a reason why you started talking to me?”
“The golden question!” Tendou shouts, not even trying to sit up. You move your notebook so you can see his face and Tendou just grins back up at you, looking satisfied. “Does there have to be one?”
You shake your head. Tendou hums, content. “Perfect! We’re on the same page then.”
Tendou nearly cracks the spine of his Jump that he leant to you, opening up the pages and holding it over both of your heads. You have to weasel awkwardly under his arm and crane your head to look up at what he’s looking at too, faces side by side and Tendou grins. “Now, what did you think about Promised Neverland’s finale?”
-- ---- ---- ---- ----- ----
You stare at your empty shoe locker in silence, frowning at the sight of it.
The shoes that were supposed to be there no longer are. You stare at it for a moment longer, glancing down to your school slippers and then silently turning over to the trashcan a few feet away. You gaze at it for a long time before walking over to it with your head held high, ignoring the outburst of giggles and feigned gasps of disgust as you come to stand in front of it.
You tuck your notebook into your bag, lifting the lid of the bin up. Some students look over in confusion and several make faces as you roll up your sleeves, spotting your shoes under a heap of lunch trash and papers. The snickers and giggles grow louder and louder, a waste of the sound you wish you could emit yourself.
“ Flying super Satori kiiiiiiiiick! ”
A long leg snaps into view before a foot promptly smashes into the trash bin, knocking it sideways and spilling trash into the shoe locker entryway. Students jump aside, shouting in disgust while you gape in disbelief, staring at the pile of trash before your head snaps over to the criminal, eyes bulging.
Tendou stays crouched on the floor, sticking his tongue out and throwing you a peace sign from where he sort of crab walks beside you like some kind of creep, uncaring in how the other students gape at him like an alien. “How was that? Pretty cool, right? Ten points?”
You stare at Tendou, mouth slack.
His hands swipe out and he snatches your dirty shoes, shooting up to his full height and nearly forcing you to jump back in surprise. He grins at you, wiggling his brows before he grandly turns on his heels, your shoes in one hand while he loudly shouts with the other, “Oh, my goodness! Who made this mess? Someone better clean it up before a teacher comes!”
“Hey!”
“Tendou, what the heck you crazy bastard? You’re the one who knocked it—”
“Sorry,” Tendou shouts in horrible English. “I don’t speak Japanese!”
“Tendou—”
Tendou snatches your hand with his free one, breaking out into a gleeful sprint. You hurry to keep up after his long, lunging legs, practically huffing in exertion while Tendou holds your dirty shoes and he tosses his head back and laughs and you stare at him in disbelief, throat constricting tightly as you leave the other students and noise behind.
The evening glow turns his hair fiery and redder. Tendou’s laugh seems almost insane and infectious at the same time. It makes you feel a little hysterical, chest growing tighter. You can’t hear anything else but your own pants and his racket of laughter.
He runs with you in tow all the way to the volleyball gym, right where the two of you normally part ways and he goes to practice and you go home.
Tendou tosses your shoes into the nearby watering sink with a flourish, twirling on his heel like he’s dancing for you and moving his lanky body in all sorts of funny ways before he tosses the spout on and watches the water pour over your shoes, humming.
You stare at his broad back. You stare at it for what feels like an eternity, panting heavily, shoulders and legs trembling because you don’t do sports like this monster of a young man in front of you. Tendou turns the water off and turns to you with a peckish grin, twirling a bandaged finger. “Out of breath already? You should get into better shape, (L/n)-chan!”
Tendou fishes your soaking shoes out from the trough, gives it a quick inspection before nodding, flapping them out with one hand while he casually continues speaking, “You know, now that I think about it, the name was a bit cheesy. Maybe something like, Flying Kick of Justice or maybe—”
You quietly hold your arms out in front of you, spreading them a bit. Tendou arches a brow, looking at you with his little impish smile.
You take a few meaningful steps forward. Tendou doesn’t move, staying still until your face collides with his chest and you wrap your arms around him. Tendou just continues to smile, looking amused while you raise your hands and sign above your head at him.
“Thank you.”
“Oh, (L/n)-chan,” Tendou sighs, but he throws one arm around you anyway, patting your head. “You’re so awkward. Lucky for you, I’m great at dealing with verbally stunted people. My best friend hardly speaks a word after all!”
The door to the volleyball gym slides open, revealing none other than the superstar himself—Ushijima Wakatoshi. Tendou blinks and you look over at the volleyball legend, blinking as well.
“Tendou,” Ushijima says. “Practice in two minutes.”
Without another word the door slides back shut. You stare at it while Tendou breaks out into laughter. “See! What did I tell you?”
--- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---
It’s three months into this—hanging out, getting to know each other, learning, communicating, becoming friends with Tendou Satori that you first notice.
You hadn’t meant to look in the first place since you didn’t think about soulmates and what-not often, but it just happened when Tendou was playing with your hair, trying to arrange it into a set of funky looking braids and you’d caught a glimpse at both his wrists.
You reach out, grabbing both of them in surprise. Tendou blinks over the top of your head, sitting cross-legged on your bed— “(L/n)-chan, invite me over! Let’s play some video games or read manga!” and he lets you pull his arms closer, quickly inspecting his wrists.
You blink rapidly, a little stunned. You look again and again to make sure what you were seeing wasn’t wrong and Tendou hums in amusement above you, letting you finish up until you finally look back at him, hands moving to sign, quick and clear.
“Tendou, you…” you pause, unable to finish moving your fingers.
“It’s blank! You’re not crazy, don’t worry,” Tendou says, finishing it for you. He proudly shows off his bare wrists and you stare at them a second longer before looking back to his face, brows creasing in worry. “Aw, don’t make that face, (L/n)-chan, you’ll get wrinkles!”
You know it’s possible, people not getting marks. Most people are all born with them—the first words your soulmate is supposed to say to you tattooed in simple ink onto your skin, always on your wrists, right there for anyone to see.
Tendou’s wrist are bare of any mark, not a single piece of ink in sight.
“I think you know better than anyone,” Tendou teases above you. “Words aren’t everything to a relationship, right~”
You smile at Tendou, but your chest still aches a little bit. Tendou’s strange, but he’s funny. He’s funny and kind. Very, very kind, even if he likes to act like he isn’t or seem worse than he really is. He deserves someone kind too, even if the statistics for actually meeting your soulmate are low.
You show Tendou your mark, a simple black V and nothing more. He stares at it, looking bewildered for once himself while you simply shrug back at him, holding up two fingers like a peace sign but as a V instead.
Tendou suddenly bursts into laughter. You stare at him, pouting in silence while he clutches his stomach, rolling around on your bed and wheezing.
“Well, (L/n)-chan, how about this,” Tendou says once his laughter dies down. “If you don’t like them, how about I take their place, hmm?”
You pretend to think it over for a bit. Tendou nudges your head with his foot and you swat it aside, turning over to him and pinching your fingers together in an okay sign.
“You’re so boring! Have more of a reaction, why don’t you? You know how hard I’m trying here?”
You smile at Tendou, chest full.
---- ---- ----- ----
Maybe it’s not always that people do things for no reason to find a reason themselves.
Maybe these people just aren’t reasonable to begin with.
“Guys, look at how creepy this is! She’s writing all over it like she’s talking to herself—yikes!”
You stare at the three tormentors, frozen in place for a moment as you watch them flip through your notebook, fuller then it’s ever been. You watch them, second after second ticking as they laugh and point to the stacked conversations, the doodles and jokes and the pages stuffed full of proof that you and Tendou have built something, something dearly precious over the course of this year—
Two of them look at you and laugh, watching you at the entrance of the classroom. The last one holds up your notebook, her glossy lips moving, and then her perfectly manicured nails start ripping one of the pages.
It’s Tendou’s page. It’s terribly unlucky or lucky she picked that one. He’s written all over it, trying to be quiet that day.
“(L/n)-chan do ya get sick of me talking? People say I talk too much all the time.”
“No. I like it.”
“Aw, you’re just flirting!”
“No, I really, really like it.”
“Hahaha, then maybe I’ll talk enough for the two of us, hmm?”
You feel it tear all the way down to your bones.
“What a freak!”
Something snaps.
They clearly don’t see it coming when you go flying across the classroom, lunging for the monster with your notebook. Her eyes go round in disbelief and then furious anger when your hands find hers, ripping the book from her grasp as she fights you for it, shouting and cursing. Her two cronies are quick, grabbing at your hands and trying to haul you back but your mouth is parted in a soundless, furious scream, flailing your fists and hitting, pulling and tugging at them as you scream and scream and scream even though no words come out.
One girl nearly slaps you but you duck and shove your foot into her stomach, knocking her back into a desk.
You shout at them. Shout and shout and shout and shout . You imagine the words cutting them in half. Imagine how they’d feel hearing the horrible things spat right back into their face—
She looks up at you, eyes red with rage and the other two thrust your hands down, stomping on your feet to try and hold you down while she raises her hand to strike again.
“All three of you are ugly pigs! Don’t you have anything better to do with your lives? Did all your parents ever teach you to do is bully the quiet kid? That’s terrible! You’re all horrible!”
The shrill, overly high-pitched voice catches all four of you off guard, staring at each other, stunned. The three girls share quick looks, looking startled out of their minds while your shoulders heave, ragged from the panting and soundless screaming. You don’t understand—
Firm, large hands suddenly grab you by your waist, hauling you up into the air and away from the other two girls. You quickly grab your skirt from flying up and whirl around, eyes round in disbelief when Tendou’s sleazy, easy grin meets your gaze, his eyes crinkled.
Your already quiet world quiets further, soft and silent as you stare at him and he gazes back at you for a second, assessing your disheveled form before he promptly sets you down onto your feet behind him like you’re some kind of toy. Tendou even takes a second to brush some dust off your shoulder, fixing your jacket with a happy little hum before he ruffles the top of your head and grins at you.
His eyes are crinkled at the corners, narrowed into dangerous slits. You freeze.
“Don’t worry,” Tendou chirps. “I’ll speak for both of us~”
He turns around with a flourish, blocking your view of the three girls and holding his hands out. “Sorry, ladies! I know you all might want a piece of her, but as her manager, I’ve got to be her translator and I believe my client says—oh, yes, yes, I hear you loud and clear! She says you’re all a bunch of useless bimbos with too much time on their hands!”
You gape at Tendou, clasping your hands over your mouth even though no words come out. The three girls look stunned and Tendou sweeps on in his fake, shrill voice, “Your perfume smells cheap and your nails are so last season—wow! Did you get enough sleep? Your pores are huge!”
“Asshole!” a girl shouts.
“Tendou, you freak!”
“Tendou, what do you think you’re—” one girl starts but Tendou thrusts a finger out, pointing it right at her face.
“And now this one’s from me! ” Tendou says in his own voice, a little huskier than you remember, a little firmer, clearer, and he grins devilishly at the three girls. “So listen up, hmm?”
Your classmates always complain if there’s anything about Tendou, it’s that he tends to come off as a bit scary sometimes.
You’d never really thought so until now.
“Find something better to do,” Tendou says cheerfully, eyes narrowed into dagger thin slits as he brings one threatening hand up into the air. He smiles, dripping malice, “Or you’re going to regret it, okay?”
One girl swallows, looking ready to argue despite her ashen face. The other two grab her hands, furiously shaking their heads as they drag her away from the two of you, shooting you and Tendou glares. “Freaks! Both of you!”
They run anyway though when Tendou arches a dangerous brow at them, tails between their legs. You stare at the empty classroom door in disbelief, not quite able to wrap your head around the entire exchange or how all of this happened in so little time—
“Hmph, they can’t appreciate art when they see it,” Tendou complains loudly, dragging your attention back to him. He picks up your fallen notebook, flipping through the pages and idly smoothing out creases. “Girls like that are never going to get a boyfriend, don’t worry, (L/n)-chan. You’re much cuter than they are~”
Tendou.
There’s something loud pounding in your head. Maybe it’s your heart. You’re not really sure what it is in the quietness of it all as Tendou calmly turns to you, holding out your notebook.
Tendou.
Your fingers twitch. You feel your fingers moving, spelling out his name. Your mouth parts, breathing.
Tendou, thank —
He brings up one hand, winking at you in an expression that doesn’t fit his face at all while he throws up a peace sign, the same one he always does, just like when the two of you first met.
“Our victory this time~ If they try it again, I’m not afraid to block them! I’ve got a mean—”
You freeze.
Victory?
You stare at Tendou’s peace sign.
V.
Your brain short circuits for a second. Something like adrenaline starts to pump rapidly through your body and you gape in disbelief, turning your wrist around and staring at the large, bold V on your skin. Your parents always joked with you about the kind of situation you’d have to be in for the first word your soulmate ever said to you to be V , but what if it wasn’t a matter of saying it but—
Signing it?
You feel your heart almost stop. It kicks back into gear, loud like a set of drums. You quickly grab Tendou’s blank wrist, surprising him as he blinks curiously down at you. “Hmm? What’s gotten into you, (L/n)-chan—”
“Tendou!” you sign, cheeks flushing. “Tendou, this might sound crazy but—”
You grab your notebook, quickly flipping to a blank page and hurriedly writing onto it. Tendou blinks, looking playfully confused until you turn your page to him.
“I think we might be soulmates!”
Your heart threatens to burst out of your chest. Tendou stares at your page for what feels like eternity before he pushes it down with one long, bandaged finger. He grins at you over the top of your notebook, waggling his brows.
“(Y/n)-chan, are you trying to ask me out? You could’ve just said so~”
You toss your notebook to the desk, lunging at Tendou with your arms thrown wide, mouth parted in a soundless, desperate laugh and Tendou simply grins in that sneaky little way of his, looking as content as a cat as he wraps his arms around you anyway and hoists you up.
“Ara, was I found out?”
In your flurry you abruptly press your lips to Tendou's unable to contain your excitement or words, hands no longer enough. Tendou goes stiff, eyes round as saucers when you pull back and stare at him, beaming brightly and quickly signing. "You're so dumb!"
The top of Tendou's ears start to turn red. You stare at him in surprise, pressing a hand to your mouth.
"Tendou," you sign. "You're so honest."
"Bzzt! Wrong answer! Better kiss me again or I'll drop you."
Without hesitating you quickly duck your head in close and this time Tendou meets you have way with his cheeky grin, both your lips molding together in a kiss that floods with laughter, even though not a single sound escapes either of you.
----------
"I never said I didn't have one. My soulmate just doesn't have much to say~"

Bonus:
- Tendou gives you a whistle for when you go to his games. He always waits and then when his team scores or he blocks, a furious sound of tweets and whistles goes off, making everyone look up into the stands to find you, crazy-looking and furious waving your hands and blowing the whistle. Someone has to ask you to stop before it confuses the players. - Tendou collapses onto the floor, laughing so hard he starts to cry and Ushijima tells him he should give you a bell instead. "Bells are also soothing," he says. "Or a drum."
**** please don’t ever make fun of someone’s pores! I think I’d cry ;-;
