Trump & Ross
youtube
If Trump does free Ross, it's only for good PR. He had first four years and he did nothing but sat on his fat ass. Republicans and “Libertarian” parties would sign their souls away for scraps.

Real Talk:
Democracy is the most important system the United States could ever come up with. It lets you vote for a politician that has your best interest and borrow tax money from the citizens to give the people what they want. And don't worry, when tax season come and you fulfill your obligation to pay the government the exact amount, you will get a refund afterwards. The government is very nice like that! Without democracy, the country will be run by murderers, thieves and cannibals. It's best to let the government tell us what's right and wrong, because we don't have critical thinking skills and we are just inherently selfish and greedy.

This is genuinely what some of you sound like. Remember, Lincoln FAMOUSLY campaigned on the promise that he was not a threat to the institution of slavery. There were tons of people who were FURIOUS that he wasn't doing enough.
But he realized that he was trying to appeal to a voterbase of WHITE SUPREMACISTS and PEOPLE WHO EXCLUSIVELY BENIFITTED AND PROFITED FROM THE INSTITUTION OF SLAVERY.
If he was honest about his intentions to abolish slavery, he wouldn't have gotten elected to ANYTHING.
At one point, he even said something along the lines of "I have no intention to threaten the institution of slavery. My soul purpose is to save the union." Meanwhile, he already had a draft of the emancipation proclaimation largely ready to go. Obama is another example. He famously promised often and loudly that he "in no way supported gay marriage". Which ALSO made lots of liberals angry. It is extremely frustrating watching people who don't understand how politics work try to play politics.

Nah worshiping the government is cringe
If Trump wins there's literally without exaggeration never going to be another election ever again. Which now that he won is why it's more important than ever to prepare to vote for the 2026 midterms

Real Talk:
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Meaningless words of a politician.
"Don't you ever let anybody take your power from you! You have the same power that you did before November 5th. And you have the same purpose that you did, and you have the same ability to engage and inspire! So don't ever let anybody or any circumstance take your power from you." -Kamala Harris.

There's still a democracy, it's just not YOUR favorite billionaire in charge. Plantation owner half the population likes gets elected doesn't destroy democracy, it just keeps the ball rolling. Slaves the lot of you.

It really is concerning that once people like this get a whiff of power they won’t easily give it up.
I do genuinely fear for democracy in America.

Black people and women have been overqualified for every position in America since July 3rd, 1776. It is the progress of white people and of men to finally get over their racism and misogyny that is allowing people into those spaces. Remember that.

Could I ask you to explain, in simple terms, what is the electoral college? I tried reading the wikipedia article but I just couldn't understand anything.
Basically every state gets a determined number of electors, and the electors vote on who gets to be president. The electors do not neatly scale with how many people are in that state, so some states have disproportionate voting power. Meaning that even if the popular vote favors one president (as has happened before), if the other one gets enough votes in the right states, the electors have to elect them instead. That's how Trump became president despite having 2 million less votes than Hilary Clinton: he won in the states that are disproportionately favored by the electoral college.
And yes, we have been trying to reform or abolish the thing since 1800, with the closest we came to it being in 1969 when Nixon got elected, and which got all the way to the Senate floor before it was filibustered to death by states that enjoy disproportionate voting power. And Nixon won the popular vote.
