#vote against the fascist

I have been very quiet about this year's election, because I know it's stressful to be constantly inundated with posts about it, but come on. If you are so idealistic that your actions are indistinguishable from an apathete, you might need to reconsider some things.
All you need to do is vote against a fascist (not for a third party, which will only help the fascist win). It's pretty simple.

So long as the political and economic system remains intact, voter enfranchisement, though perhaps resisted by overt white supremacists, is still welcomed so long as nothing about the overall political arrangement fundamentally changes. The facade of political equality can occur under violent occupation, but liberation cannot be found in the occupier’s ballot box. In the context of settler colonialism voting is the “civic duty” of maintaining our own oppression. It is intrinsically bound to a strategy of extinguishing our cultural identities and autonomy.
[...]
Since we cannot expect those selected to rule in this system to make decisions that benefit our lands and peoples, we have to do it ourselves. Direct action, or the unmediated expression of individual or collective desire, has always been the most effective means by which we change the conditions of our communities. What do we get out of voting that we cannot directly provide for ourselves and our people? What ways can we organize and make decisions that are in harmony with our diverse lifeways? What ways can the immense amount of material resources and energy focused on persuading people to vote be redirected into services and support that we actually need? What ways can we direct our energy, individually and collectively, into efforts that have immediate impact in our lives and the lives of those around us? This is not only a moral but a practical position and so we embrace our contradictions. We’re not rallying for a perfect prescription for “decolonization” or a multitude of Indigenous Nationalisms, but for a great undoing of the settler colonial project that comprises the United States of America so that we may restore healthy and just relations with Mother Earth and all her beings. Our tendency is towards autonomous anti-colonial struggles that intervene and attack the critical infrastructure that the U.S. and its institutions rest on. Interestingly enough, these are the areas of our homelands under greatest threat by resource colonialism. This is where the system is most prone to rupture, it’s the fragility of colonial power. Our enemies are only as powerful as the infrastructure that sustains them. The brutal result of forced assimilation is that we know our enemies better than they know themselves. What strategies and actions can we devise to make it impossible for this system to govern on stolen land? We aren’t advocating for a state-based solution, redwashed European politic, or some other colonial fantasy of “utopia.” In our rejection of the abstraction of settler colonialism, we don’t aim to seize colonial state power but to abolish it. We seek nothing but total liberation.

If someone tells you to not vote or to waste your ballot on some pointless protest vote, just take a look at what happened in the eu elections

Remember, kids, it's not that she tried to court conservatives with fascist talking points like strong border policy, the most lethal military, or tough-on-crime rhetoric. It's not that she wanted bipartisanshipwith literal fascists, including putting them in her cabinet. It's not that she wouldn't do anything about the ongoing genocide. It's not her absolute non-stance on trans healthcare. It's not her fault.
It's the fault of actual progressives for wanting an actual progressive. It's the fault of trans people for wanting health care. It's the fault of people who asked for strong policy from someone who could have actually fielded it instead of trying to make peace with literal monsters and trying to convince conservatives to vote for her. It's the fault of a bunch of nebulous sexists, nevermind that hundreds of thousands of these accused sexists voted for Jill Stein.
It's everyone and everything's fault but Harris' and the Democratic Party's. You should all be rewarded for moving yourselves to the right, your lack of moral conviction, your half measures, your acceptance of genocide, and your missing spines. You totally deserve to get more and better things despite lacking any of the necessary conviction to demand them. You're definitely not deeply unserious, or out-of-touch with reality. 🙄

some leftists, even those who will vote for Kamala Harris while holding their nose, make claims like, "fascism doesn't just go away if you vote against it" & while there are those out there who do feel this way (or at least want to) there are MANY who know that something like Project 2025 doesn't just go away if they lose their chance to implement it nationwide.
a leftist responded to one of my comments on facebook when i mentioned something about "accelerationists." it was only part of my comment & not even my point. they were SO offended by me calling "all of them that" when i did no such thing. what i see is that leftists who claim they're above everyone because they don't fall for propaganda that easily are proving they are just as human as the rest of us & only read what they want to read.
i get it: the US has A LOT of issues. this is not a great country. there are so many things i want to see get changed for the better. there are plenty of folks who feel the same while not identifying themselves as far left.
one other issue i have: i mention Ernst Thälmann quite a bit in my political posts. he was a German politician & leader of the Communist Party of Germany. he regarded the Social Democratic Party as "social fascists" which made it harder for the two leftist parties to work together. when he ran for office again in 1933 he lost by a landslide & Hitler took office. Thälmann was arrested by the Gestapo & sent to Buchenwald. his party rival, Walter Ulbricht, ignored requests to plead for his release & Thälmann was eventually shot & killed on Hitler's personal command.
when i brought up Thälmann recently, someone commented, "yeah, don't be like the guy who wanted to beat fascism but vote them in instead." that is NOT what i meant & these folks who claim they're the smartest ever because they don't like the US (that's actually a low bar; plenty if people dislike it) like to pretend they don't see my point. my only point is this: we are stronger together regardless of your normal party affiliation. working apart? making purity politics your hill to die on? it won't help us & we probably won't like how that'll turn out.
leftists who don't see the forest for the trees: you're right, you can't just "vote fascism away." the issue is your wanting to be superior to the rest of us is you may be part of what helps them get that kind of power. you're not the MAIN problem; our justice system is garbage & there's decades of poor education & people have been falling for propaganda & people are voting for anyone who is as hateful & ignorant as they are. my point in saying to not be an Ernst Thälmann is: don't tear us apart because of even slightly different ideologies. we need to work together. start at the local level. please remember it's not just the president; Congress & the Supreme Court are also filled to the brim with corruption.

i had a conversation with my aunt today about how the system and politics and basically everything is fucked at the moment (which is true) and she was SO CLOSE to so many points but she never acknowledged that capitalism is the root of so many of those problems... Bestie you're So Close...

Here's the thing, though.
If someone breaks into a night shelter to try and hurt someone there, yes, it is the fault of the person who broke in.
But the shelter also needs to have a very earnest talk with their security staff about alternative career paths.
The fact that some other person committed the actual crime does not let the security staff off the hook.
And if you are the security staff, if it was your job to stop this happening and you didn't stop it happening, what you should be asking now is not "Why is everybody being so mean to us?"
It's "What do we need to stop doing, immediately and forever?"
Especially if you appointed yourself to the task of guarding the shelter. Especially if your whole personality is built around opposing the concept of people breaking in.

Keep seeing fearmongering vote Biden posts and y’all you are not helping your cause by doing this.
Like genuinely. You are far more likely to get someone to kill themself than you are to get them to vote for Biden with this messaging. I say this as someone who has had to be talked down and has had to talk others down because of y’all’s fucking fearmongering.
Another trump presidency is absolutely terrifying yes. But Biden has lost far too many crucial votes to get in. And the fearmongering ain’t gonna get enough folks to vote for him to make up for the loss of Michigan. Also, and I can’t stress this enough, Biden and the Biden administration have taken talking points straight out of project 2025. Project 2025 has already been happening in rural communities. But y’all never give a shit about us so🤷
You gotta give folks hope, fear is far too prevalent right now and you pushing it further while not providing any hope for the future is pushing folks to suicide.
