Also on the topic of the Player getting sucked into a game. Thats my favorite headcanon, because its so like, weird but fun and makes sense for the hand thing. I like the idea though that it specifically happened during the ambush.

There’s something viscerally horrifying about just playing a game, but then feeling an actual fist punch you in the dark. The lights go out and the Player, “Gordon,” reaches to remove their headset to see if it broke, but just as their fingers brush the edge of the space where it should be, a punch hits them.

Fucked up. 10/10 horror. Local man trapped in a videogame streaming for 30 hours or something. Make that dilf (temporarily) lose his hand.

Was rewatching Virtues of Spinjitzu today and I was instantly reminded of how much I love Kai and Jay's dynamic

They kickstarted the entire plot of the short because Wu told them to meditate on the Virtues of Spinjitzu and these mfs somehow ended up in a brick breaking competition for the last cookie lmao (AuDHD and ADHD solidarity istg)

Also did anybody else find it HILARIOUSLY ironic that the most infamous liars/actors on the team ended up in the honesty challenge together?

(Especially since they were just trying to lie to Master Wu's face about the brick breaking competition? Like WOW lol)

I also loved how Kai can actually juggle like he told the Ice Emperor and was pushing for that, but still had to throw in ventriloquism for Jay just for the heck of it (how is one man always so smart and so dumb at the same time)

But I just love that short in general too

Everybody's character feels so spot-on and fun to watch

And the virtue chosen for each of them is really fitting too which probably contributes to said characterization, and the interactions are just wonderful and the fight scenes are always a delight to watch, as well as the animation in general-

i'm still kind of figuring out a cohesive timeline for aven in my head and the hardest part is that ??? while i place him somewhere around 26, i really couldn't see him being any younger and this does mean that he either endured what he did before killing his master for a long time, or he became involved with the ipc at a really young age.

leaning more so towards the latter, and i haven't really settled on a specific age for when all of that takes place, but he's been there for many years now either way. and while topaz' character stories mention her being one of the youngest people to be given a title and become one of the stonehearts, i'd say that aven probably has been the youngest so far. i think people tend to overlook that fact that he was thrown straight into the deep end, with jade giving him the aventurine stone more or less straight away. that he ??? actually would have been so clueless about so many things for such a long time without any solid support, coming from a planet where the aeons weren't even recognised, where survival had to take priority over basic education, he encountered so many things that he simply had to piece together and teach himself, things that are kind of assumed common knowledge by everybody around him.

he powered through so much just by winging it and taking the time to look shit up for himself. and aven is so smart. he's a quick learner who catches on to trickier concepts very quickly, he's just been deprived of the opportunities to actually come to terms with some of the necessary basics in the first place and he has to do it by himself. it's just a side of him that nobody ever really got to see.

and while he does sometimes play into the role of the nonsensical dumb blond where it actually serves a purpose (i.e. in portraying himself as someone incompetent who underestimated sunday in 2.1), to make the assumption that he's an idiot? to treat him like one? intentionally undermining his intelligence is the worst way you could insult him.

Birchport Light Investigations

Calli's detective agency

She teased about naming it Mystery Incorporated or the Scooby Doo gang, but Grant reminded her that she might run into some copyright issues. She shrugs and tells him at least she knows a good lawyer!

Flynn helps on cases when he can, especially at night when Calli is running through ideas and theories. He listens and offers his thoughts. He loves seeing how invested she is in the community and that she doesn't see any cause as "too little".

Kate wants to be a detective, but she hasn't quite mastered the art of subtlety yet plus with the baby Calli feels it's not the right time. However, Kate insisted she make the agency's official cupcake flavor: lemon (for light) - blueberry (for the sea) cupcake with vanilla frosting with gold dust and a white chocolate lighthouse

Naomi helps quite a bit when she is off duty and sometimes when she is on duty (🤫 ). She and Calli grow very close through the cases.

Grant doesn't have a lot of time to help, but he offers legal services to Calli for anything she needs to help

Kate O'Malley

opens her bakery

asks Flynn and Calli to be Rachel's godparents

is insanely excited to have Calli as a sister (in law) but teases Calli about that time they made out in college and says they can't do that anymore

turns Sterling Manor into the Birchport Community Retreat, which includes a community garden, a library/reading room, a museum of Birchport wing with the full history of the town on display, a art wing with all the Sterling's pieces on display for the public.

When Miss Harlenay comes back, Kate offers a part of the manor as a bed and breakfast for anyone holding events on the property.

The government seizes a lot of the Sterling's finances, but with what's left over she keeps a modest amount for her daughter and donates the rest to the workers at the docks who's back the town was built on.

Naomi Silverhawk

becomes Chief of Police and cleans up the department

she creates community outreach programs

works closely with Calli at her investigation agency

works closely with DCFS (department children and family services) to make sure the welfare of all children is being monitored and addressed

Grant Emerson

makes Birchport a fair, safe, and enjoyable place to live

Thursday thoughts

I want to try to just talk about hcs and AU ideas I have on Thursdays so here's some thoughts circling through my head. Okay, okay, it's technically no longer Thursday because I took too long thinking about this.

I really like the idea of Quinlan Vos as a healer. It really feels like part of the reason he is a shadow, though I'm not sure canon even confirms he's a shadow, is just because his psychometry is good for investigations. 

So, he's kind of just shoehorned into one position. But psychometry could be useful in other areas as well, especially since clues tend to be necessary in many different situations. 

I like fiddling with different careers for Quinlan as a result. And lately... healing is appealing. 

He would be a good healer, I think. He cares about people, even if he has a strange way of sharing it.

His psychometry would help him determine problems faster than most. And how much pain the patient is in, even if that could come with the problems of feeling the pain himself and having to work through that.

Quinlan would have to have an high pain tolerance. Which he probably does.

He would be one of the healers that goes out in the field, possibly working with search and rescue, so that he can help the most people possible. He'd still have the same lightsaber skills (he's friends with Obi-Wan, he's not going to neglect that), and this changes nothing about his personality, except maybe he's a bit more professional when on the job because professional tends to sooth patients better.

Which means that people meet Quinlan in a context other than healing and think that maybe he's not a good Jedi at all, maybe they think he's just a general generic Jedi who's not important. Regardless, they don't think much of him, and don't think hard about what kind of Jedi he is. 

Then it turns out he's a healer and a good one at that. Focused and exactly the sort of person you'd trust your life to, even if his actual personality is a bit over the top and he seems to not take anything seriously. This is not what anyone is expecting. 

I don't know. I just think the idea of Healer Quinlan Vos constantly surprising everyone is neat. Especially since we all know he would love all the confusion.
