So, I used prompt 7, number 14 from Day 17 of the event for G. from Katekyo Hitman Reborn! I don’t often get to write about the Primo Generation characters, so this was fun!
Does the character take any sleeping aids (ex: pills, melatonin supplements, etc.)?
So, obviously there weren’t many sleep aids available during the Primo generation’s time period so we’re going to modernize this generation a little, just because sleeping aids are more plentiful and available now.
Now, overall, despite being a night owl by nature, I don’t see G. as having a really hard time sleeping. Most of the time, he sleeps pretty well. It takes him a bit to fall asleep but once he is asleep, he’s pretty dead to the world for at least a good four to five hours.
It’s why G. can’t really nap. Once he’s out, he’s solidly out for hours on end. He can’t just sleep for little amounts of time and honestly, the half-hour he meant to spend napping is just enough time for him to fall asleep.
Like I said – getting to sleep is the hardest part for him. He lays down and tries to relax and go to sleep. However, there’s something about this relaxed state that really fires up his brain and he gets preoccupied with whatever’s in his brain and it takes him a while to sort out his head and shut his brain down enough to fall asleep.
The only time this doesn’t ring true is if he’s sick or physically just absolutely exhausted. If he’s sick, G.’s someone who needs a lot of sleep to heal up and feel better and after injury or spending a lot of time fighting or staying up, he’s out like a light when he finally does get the chance to sleep.
The only time G. really has serious sleep issues other than this is when he’s really stressed about something or really excited about something. He’s so impatient when it comes to things he’s looking forward to and he’s so eager to get to them that he finds it hard to unwind enough to sleep. And, of course, stress does the same thing for him, where his brain won’t shut down and his body is tense, and he can’t unwind.
It’s at those points where he really does have an almost impossible time falling to sleep, where it can take him two to three hours to even fall asleep and his body doesn’t actually conk out like he normally does.
At those points, I think G. would try to suffer through it rather than take sleeping aids. If it got really bad, he would rather use melatonin than an actual over the counter sleeping pill or a doctor prescribed one. He doesn’t want the risk of drowsiness or grogginess the next day because it could seriously impact his work.

Man Tsuna would have had to face a lot of challenges unique to him, huh
Like he appears weak and easy to lead around, he’s Japanese, originally a civilian, only two of his guardians come from Italy and one of them is a bastard, two people occupying one position and one of them is a known and reviled criminal, the rest are also civilians, being Iemitsu’s son is going to prejudice a lot of people as well
How many condescending comments about how well he spoke Italian did he get
Oh right and Hibari being from a yakuza family (implied but ya know)
Real underdog hours
He really wouldn’t have much choice about having to present himself as cold and heartless
A lesson he learns the hard way, because those things don’t come easy to Tsuna, even if he knows there are still a lot of people unhappy with him being chosen, and unhappier still with a lot of big names accepting him
There are some people you just can’t win over. There are some people who will take advantage of every scrap of warmth you give them
It doesn’t matter that he has the loyalty and gratitude of the seven strongest. It doesn’t matter that he uncovered the truth of the flood of blood and reinstated the family of one of Vongola Primo’s oldest friends as their ally. It doesn’t matter that even the Vindice come to give their approval for Decimo, terrifying all present.
Tsuna is an outsider with a weak heart
It’s only a matter of time before he learns a new lesson

ive always subscribed to the idea that iemitsu isn't giotto's direct descendant, nana is, considering tsuna looks like her which means she looks like giotto, and that iemitsu's declaration as direct descendant is a ruse to protect her identity and the truth about primo retiring to japan
not only that but considering the dojo and the shrine named after asari, giotto definitely made his home in namimori, and nana is a local
i can see giotto and several of his guardians assimilating with the local culture and marrying japanese wives, and that's how you get the sasagawa, the hibari, and the sawada, and the fact and gokudera's mom was part-japanese would mean she was the direct descendant of G
Vongola Intuition would be a great asset for the development of Namimori. while growing up in Europe I can see Giotto was at first ostracized for his supernatural ability but in Japan he was treated as a soothsayer instead considering Japanese culture on spirituality
I doubt Tsuna was the first Sawada who inherited Vongola Intuition either, and I can see for generations the Sawada got treated as some kind of family of Kannagi (shaman in shintoism) who the town turn to for advice before making any big decisions
but as science progresses and beliefs in the supernatural decreases people no longer believe in the Sawada being some sort of oracle and no longer rely on them for everything. which is pretty great for the Sawada considering how stressful it must be burdened by the town's worships and expectations
I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of the many reasons Giotto left Vongola in the first place

Sorry y'all this one's gonna be a long one lol fun analysis/theorizing/headcanoning whatever the fuck this is under the cut :)
So, lately I've been really thinking about Lambo and Tsuna's relationship, Lambo's connection to Vongola, and Lambo's spot as the Lightning Guardian. I know as a fandom, we tend to disregard Lambo because he has like.. two fights in the whole series or wish that someone else was made the Lightning Guardian because that boy is Literally Five. And I won't act like it wouldn't have been cool to see another character as Lightning Guardian (My Haru Guardian fans rise up where are you) but I think what Amanos done here is really fun too from an analysis perspective.
To start with, Tsuna's family is not really a..traditional Mafia family or even a traditional Vongola family either. Let's look at this here, he's got his Two Best Friends(TM), his crush's big brother, the leader of the Disciplinary Committee at his school, a criminal, a half dead girl, and the aforementioned five year old as his guardians. This is FAR from what's likely expected out of the Vongola family, even when you date it back to Primo AT LEAST PRIMO HAD PRINCES, PRIESTS, SAMURAIS as his guardians. (Though he gets away with having One Best Friend (TM) as his guardian.) Yet somehow, their family makes it work!! They survive the Mafia world, multiple times throughout the series and when it's not working they get stronger as a unit and they fight for each other and make it out together. And I think that's the beauty of their specific family.
So then you have Lambo, who Tsuna would do anything for just to avoid Lambo having to experience a fraction of the shit they go through. And Tsuna actually SUCCEEDS at this, he doesn't normally succeed when it comes to being avoidant of Mafia stuff but this was something throughout the series that he was so genuinely adamant against. He only let Lambo fight when he truly had to and even then he very minimally let the Mafia world wrap its greedy paws around Lambo. Kokuyo arc, Tsuna didn't even sort of kind of a little bit consider taking Lambo with them (which would later help keep Kyoko and Haru safe), Varia arc, knowing that this would disqualify him, Tsuna decided he could not allow Lambo to keep fighting.
Future Arc, Tsuna kept Lambo out of the fight as much as he could, allowing the non-fighters to take care of him and I-pin. Shimon Arc, Tsuna felt real regret at the prospect that he allowed Lambo to come.
(And Arco arc where Lambo was hardly present at either, which I'd like to imagine that if Lambo was involved in Arco arc then Tsuna may have just absolutely fucking died)
Tsuna to Lambo is not his guardian (Frankly, he doesn't view any of his guardians as such, they are his friends, his pride, his comrades, and those he has traded blows with and knows they can be trusted.) Lambo to Tsuna is his little brother. This five year old was sent on an assassination attempt that was absolutely in no circumstance meant to actually succeed and the Bovinos know that. To send Lambo to assassinate the strongest hitman was a death mission. So, Tsuna took this child in (or rather this child stuck around bc his Mom makes banger meals) and immediately Tsuna assumes the role of his brother. Lambo and Tsuna are the closest out of all the kids. (Ofc Tsuna loves I-pin and fuuta too, but I think it's safe to say Lambo is his dumb little brother)
Now, I don't think that Tsuna is ever going to see Lambo as anything but his little brother. I actually theorize that the way TYL Lambo is the way he is because Tsuna never really got out of the habit of babying him. He's calmed down since he was a kid and developed a more nonchalant personality with the occasional tantrum because you can't tell me Tsuna DOESNT STILL view TYL Lambo as a non-combatant. When Tsunas 15, he looks at 5 year old Lambo and goes no thanks that boy is never touching a weapon in his life. When Tsunas is 25, he sees 15 year Lambo and goes that is STILL a child he is never touching a weapon in his life. And yes he's completely unaware of the hypocrisy in my head.
This is a spoiled little brother no one can tell me otherwise.
So we know Tsuna just sees him as his kid brother and not a real guardian. But then you have Lambo's feelings about the whole matter. We know that Lambo doesn't really consider Tsuna a boss but as his big brother, but I don't think that changes a lot for Lambo. While fighting is scary for Lambo, he still desires to follow alongside Tsuna and his friends. He doesn't want to be left behind and makes Tsuna promise him he'll take him wherever he goes. He sees Tsuna freaking out about him being a child in a battlefield and he goes, "No you don't understand, I want to be there."
And that? That right there is what fucks me up after everything. Lambo as a concept for a Lightning Guardian feels really unique because of this. He's the youngest one. He's always going to chase after the others, trying to keep up with them, to walk alongside them. One day, he wants to catch up and be considered a rightful Guardian like the others. And that is so... Tsuna and him would be batting heads over this because I cannot see Tsuna relenting on Lambo staying out of the battle. I cannot see Tsuna ever feeling like Lambo's ready. Not because he thinks Lambo is weak, but because Lambo's his baby brother and Tsuna needs him more away from the battle or else he can't focus.
While Tsuna doesn't react outwardly in this frame, I do think it's not a coincidence that he could focus on fighting the battle and not be "impatient" as Reborn put it, the moment he saw Gokudera and Hibari on the battlefield. He could focus easier knowing his friends were running around saving Lambo and co.
Okay, so you have the Big brother who wants to protect his little brother from seeing the same stuff he does, from fighting the same battles he does, and wants him to grow up as a regular kid (a right which he had been robbed off the moment a certain hitman showed up at his door). Then you have the little brother who wants wholeheartedly to be there, desires to catch up to his big brother and know the world that his big brother knows.
How does this difference in value get addressed? well it doesn't because Lambo is still 5 and Shounen jump are cowards for ending Amanos series when they did <3 B U T we have this.
We all know this scene for when we rewatched Reborn for the first and went "..wait.." because that was some actually sweet foreshadowing from Amano. Okay, so. We have a Lambo who finally did it. Finally is someone worthy of being called the Vongola Lightning Guardian. And Tsuna and co are implied to have just been... Gone. All of Tsuna's efforts to raise this kid in a regular life are ripped away because something happens to HIM, not Lambo. And from Lambo's perspective, he's caught up finally but the person he was following isn't around anymore. He didn't think he'd see him again. I think it's safe to assume that this scene either implies that something happens to Tsuna in his 30s (since we know he wasn't actually dead TYL) OR 20yl Lambo is from a parallel world where Byakuran had actually won and actually took Tsunas life.
And I think that's some real meat to bite into for these characters. A little brother who will lose his big brother if he doesn't do something, get stronger in time. A big brother who won't let him join the battle because he's afraid of losing HIS little brother. A Vongola Lightning Guardian who wants to be a shield for his Boss, and a Boss won't let him be a shield.
And that? That's a good concept for a Vongola Lightning Guardian.
Thank you for reading this far if you did :] this is a bit of a ramble but I was thinking about it and I felt it nice to share. I hope maybe I shared some of my brain worms with you <3

Gonna throw myself into another Iemitsu and Tsuna's relationship post because the sudden raise of people acknowledging this is more complicate than bashing fics.
One thing I believe is that if, by some chance like reincarnation fanfic, Tsuna wants to be a mafia (or well involve with the mafia) from young age, then Iemitsu would be a good dad to Tsuna. Iemitsu is capable of being a good dad/master to Basil, this is obvious, but the thing is Basil from the start is a fighter/mafia already and Tsuna is, yes, a civilian at first. (Not to mention Tsuna is still heavily rejecting mafia at the end of manga)
I don't know how Iemitsu ends up as mafia, high position one even. I just can see in the manga how Tsuna and Iemitsu interact is mostly through a mafia event first and foremost - Ring Battle, Representative Battle. I see Iemitsu makes a deal with Mukuro so Tsuna has a complete set to compete in the Ring Battle. I see the way he tries to tell something to his son is literally through fist in the Rainbow war, so yeah I see Iemitsu doesn't know how to interact with his civilian son in a normal loving way of parent. His love language with civilians, both his son and wife, is to leave them completely in the dark about himself and mafia because that would keep them safe.
But turn the matter around, as mostly Tsuna and Iemitsu interact through mafia events, I see that if Tsuna follows the mafia path, Iemitsu would be openly supportive and engaged in Tsuna's life than what happened in canon. To be honest Iemitsu may be still clumsy at conversation and throws fist to tranfer his idea, that I can't deny because I don't have a full grasp over Iemitsu's characteristic as mafia. But Iemitsu's want of Nana and Tsuna being safe is real, look at how he literally throwing himself in front of Vindice to protect Nana. If Tsuna by any chance involving with the mafia from young age, I hence see Iemitsu teaching his son how to fight and engaged in his son's life more so his now-mafia son can survive in his world.
But well since the beginning the dad and the son belongs to different world, they have no same ground to bonding as dad and son. So yeah.
A little bonus: even if Tsuna, as a teenager in manga, grows up and finally agrees to be the next mafia boss of Vongola, I still see Iemitsu being more engaged in his son's life in that situation. Meaning Tsuna doesn't have to want to be mafia at young age for dad-son relationship being closer. Of any chance, as long as Tsuna is in the mafia, Iemitsu would be more close to his son.
Well I say this because look at how Tsuna in the Future Arc, an adult Tsuna in the mafia world, completely hides his plan away from his loved one (mind you, this included Future Gokudera and Lal, debatably all other guardians except Hibari) to have chance winning against Byakuran and thus protecting his loved one. This screams Iemitsu so much, and so just personal opinion but I see in this Future arc, Tsuna-mafia-boss and Iemitsu had talked and bonded enough for Tsuna to understand his dad's method of staying silent, and then using a nearly almost same one as his way of protecting his family.
(My headcanon is at the beginning of Tsuna's mafia reign, Iemitsu is still Cedef boss and supports his son with all his might like how he supports Tsuna in the Ring Battle. I like Basil being Cedef boss one day but I see that come later in Tsuna's reign, when Basil has more experience. For the start of Neo Vongola, Iemitsu is still there for his Neo Vongola Primo son.
And logically Tsuna as mafia boss would not chase Iemitsu away even when they are not talking it out, like Iemitsu is a strong, experienced mafia who truly wants to protect Tsuna hence would be loyal too. Like no boss gonna fire (or pull the string to get rid off) someone such competent like that? It would be such a waste.)

The Rise of the Neo-Vongola Family
Synopsis:
The tenth generation of the Vongola Family is slowly making their own name in the underground society and it wouldn't be a surprise if Tsunayoshi Sawada together with his guardians completely placate themselves in the history of mafia sooner.
Tsuna, now a senior high school student, is stronger and more confident not as a Vongola boss but as his own person. After all, he have his trusted friends with him—his family. The scary mafia world that was introduced to him when he was thirteen doesn't scare him too much anymore.
Or so he thought.
With the right push and enough spartan-like training to torture teach Tsuna, Reborn will make sure that Tsuna deserves the title of Neo-Vongola Primo. While Tsuna makes sure that everyone else is safe.

Tsuna’s guardians and the Arcobaleno only being able to catch Tsuna when he is too weak from his sky sickness to fight back has me crying
My poor baby
A healthy Tsuna can and has run circles around all of them. For the most part he doesn’t because he truly cares about all of them, but if it’s something he really doesn’t want to do? Good luck keeping him there. He is larger than life. He is the Vongola Decimo. He is Primo Reborn.
That’s why it hits harder, seeing how exhausted he is after such a pitiful fight. Seeing how he sags into Fon’s waiting arms and can barely keep himself on his feet. Seeing the tears of frustration in his eyes because he knows he should be stronger but refusing to take the cure right in front of them because he won’t hurt the people he cares about like others did.

Suns like to be chased. So what does it mean that Vongola Primo, one of the first bosses of organized crime, had a priest for a Sun Guardian?
I think that Guardians, beyond compatibility, also embody certain aspects of their Sky. And the job of a Sun is to embody the Sky's ideals, what the Sky has decided to chase despite everything - what the Sky has decided to aim for.
The Sun and the Cloud would sit as equal and opposing forces in a Sky's court. The Sun pulls the Sky forward and the Cloud pushes the Sky backwards.
Clouds liked to be challenged. Vongola Primo, again the first of all Mafia bosses, chose a cop as his Cloud guardian.
The job of a Cloud is to set a constant and consistent reminder of what the Sky is fighting. If the Sun lights a path forward, then the Cloud makes that path difficult to find. Alternatively, if the Sun is a goal - something out of reach, the Cloud keeps the Sky from burning up trying to reach it.
[Personally, I just enjoy the fact that during the future arc, out of all the guardians, Tsuna chose his Sun and his Cloud to stay behind and guide his younger self. His ideals and his principles. Not to mention, that out of all his guardians, Ryohei and Kyouya actually do take a bigger leading or guiding role (a pull from the front and a push from the back) compared to Takeshi and Hayato who happily follow.
The nice little allegory of weather patterns also makes this extra delicious. Storms and Rain require build up. But Clouds and the Sun can exist wholly as themselves.]
The Cloud and the Sun are startlingly alike. Both enjoy independence and recognize that independence within each other. They clash more often than not. But a good Cloud and Sun guardian set will understand each other as equals, regardless of the airs they like to put on. In short, they work well together and they work best as team when centering a Sky.

Written But Never Sent (A KHR Fanfic)
Fandom: KHR Ship: 0027 (Enma/Tsuna) Word Count: 1,017 Prompt: Written But Never Sent Event Host: @flufftober
Tsuna couldn't believe what he'd heard as the truth of the Vongola and Simon families was revealed when the keys were opened and the memories of the first bosses were revealed. They'd been friends the whole time, the Simon only went into hiding because of a threat from Daemon to begin with that nearly cost their lives. Primo had never betrayed them, it was all a lie.
Now the battles were over with and the broken bond between both families was well on it's way to being repaired and the years of trauma and isolation on the Simon ready to begin the healing process, Tsuna sat down at his desk at home, he owed Enma a proper apology at least. But how do you apologize for something that happened nearly a hundred years ago that hadn't been the accused's fault to begin with? How do you explain to them that you had been allies the entire time, you were told a different story than they were, they had just been lied to and used as pawns by one person who had good intentions but did the wrong thing centuries ago. Tsuna had to write a letter.
"Dear Enma,
I'm sorry that your family was lied to for so long. I'm sorry that the Simon family spent years in isolation because one of the Vongola couldn't be trusted because he'd misunderstood his loved one's final wishes."
The more Tsuna thought about it, Daemon couldn't be blamed either if he was being honest with himself about this, grief can make a man do crazy things, but grieving your soulmate can make you do bad things too. Daemon was merely a victim of pain and suffering and simply misunderstood his late loved one's last wish for the Vongola to be made much stronger. Tsuna continued writing.
"I hope we can somehow put this behind us and our families can once again be good friends. I never wanted to become a Mafia Don so I never considered you merely an ally, you were always someone I wanted to be friends with. I saw the same pain in your eyes that I always had. And instead of feeling pity, it made me want to befriend you even more. Because I know how lonely it can get. I don't ever want to see someone else suffer that same pain, I'm reaching out to you in the hopes we can make amends someday at least. The Simon family shouldn't have to live in isolation and fear, I will restore that bond with you again if it's the last thing I ever do."
His convictions and determination would drive Tsuna to do whatever it took to restore the broken bond between the Vongola and Simon. He'd vowed then and there to protect Enma and bring his heart back to the light and keep it there no matter what or how long it took.
"I will do everything I can to protect you and bring your heart back to the light. It's unfair what happened to you and your guardians and the generations before you. I promise that as long as I am alive and still capable, you will never go through that again. I can't heal the suffering you've already been through, but I am damn determined to prevent it from recurring again. You didn't deserve to go through that Enma. I know your predecessor thought it was for the best, but I can see the pain in your eyes and I'm determined to save you no matter what the hell I have to do about it. You deserve love, you deserve another chance. I want the same thing your first boss wanted, for us all to laugh together again in a world that's safe for you guys. Let us put these differences aside, Enma-kun and laugh together once again. I want to be your friend and be there for you always, you will never be forced to hide again."
There wasn't much else to say, Tsuna had poured his heart out in three short paragraphs. Now all that was left to do was sign it and get the envelope ready so it could be mailed to Enma. However, when he got up to go get the envelope, Tsuna didn't expect what would happen next.
He wouldn't even have to mail the letter. Enma and his guardians had stopped by for a visit. There would be no need to mail it now. Fate had determined it was better off not sent and would be easier to just hand deliver it in person apparently. "Enma-kun! So glad you're here. I was just writing a letter to you! Ah, there's so much I wanted to explain but never could and I finally got the time to sit and think and actually write a proper apology note to you." Tsuna bowed in respect. "Please accept my sincerest apologies. Let me get the letter, it's on my desk."
Tsuna rushed upstairs and found the letter, he quickly grabbed the pen and signed it before rushing downstairs to hand it over to Enma. The letter wasn't exactly sent, but more like hand delivered this time, it still should count, shouldn't it? Because it was Tsuna's words that made all the difference right now.
A tear ran down Enma's face as he read it. He felt so bad for how he'd acted before, falsely believing the Vongola were horrible and had caused all the Simon's suffering for decades when they hadn't, the first Simon boss had simply gone into hiding to protect all of them, putting the family's sake first as any good leader would. "Ah, apology accepted, Tsuna. Let's go get lunch together, this time as friends." Enma suggested.
Tsuna nodded in agreement, he was pretty hungry and Enma had just forgiven them and accepted the letter, things couldn't be better right now. "Sure, Enma-kun. What are you in the mood for? It'll be my treat." Tsuna ran and grabbed his wallet, the letter safely delivered now, the two could move on and start over, as best friends this time.

[send a number for me to talk about one of the following topics!] ||Accepting|| @musessinabag
4.) Multiple people threads
I've done it before and I think they're fun! The main issue is activity. I strongly suggest that all people have close to the same activity levels. I don't mean this to say that you shouldn't rp with someone who is slower than you- but from personal experience, I've found that if someone is quite slower than the rest of the partners, they end up feeling rushed/stressed. That dynamic can fester and then the person ends up unhappy.
This won't be an issue if all parties are able to communicate well and have a solid understanding of: it's okay to take your time! Alas- I find that communication is not a strong point for a lot of people these days.
Assuming everyone has a similar activity level or has good communication, multi-people threads are very fun! The other issue can be that it can get really long on the dash, and sometimes it gets a lil harder to keep up with all the events in the thread.
Other than that, I find them really fun! I wouldn't be against doing a multi-person thread if anyone ever wanted to do so. I've certainly done it before in the past. =w=

17.) Fanon interpretations
Well, I honestly can't speak too much on this, because I honestly just avoid fandom as much as I can. I've learned over the years that the reason why I stop liking a piece of media is because of the fandom itself. I don't really pay attention to what's fanon, but I've seen a few things here and there for our fandom... and... I can say... I don't like what I saw. lol
I have read some fanon posts with a lot of likes/reblogs and I read through it and just... it makes my blood pressure rise. I'm not going to lie, i'll be completely honest. I've blocked some fanon blogs because I've seen some SHIT takes.
What irritates me the most is that some fanon HCs become so popular that it gets regarded as canon. Like, for instance people believing that the 2nd Vongola boss has an officially announced name- which he doesn't. The ONLY primo generation birthday that we know of is Giotto's. Any other guardian's birthday that you see online is fanon. I didn't know this until I saw someone talking about it, but there was actually no mention in canon that Alaude is French. It's just a headcanon that got so popularized that people assume it's canon. I admit that I fell for that one.
I've read a few fanfiction, and man... I couldn't finish many of them. I really dislike how many of them were written out characterization-wise. I just cannot deal with fanon a lot of the time.

PROOF APOLLO WEARS HAWAIIAN SHIRTS
“The Tri-Ni-Sette machine is failing. The world will die.” “We can’t do anything going forward. Going backwards, however, is another matter.” Ryohei had his mission: To go back. To before the most recent Arcobaleno Curse, to before the slaughter of the Simone. To before the Tri-Ni-Sette System finally gave out. Ryohei was used to loss, in the ring and in life. But this time, he promises, he’ll win. Reborn had his mission: Get in this man’s pants, or die trying. After all, Reborn was nothing if not an Icarus.

CHAPTER 1: EVERYTHING I LOVE IS GOING TO DIE
“The Tri-Ni-Sette machine is failing,” Verde announced to the room.
There was a long pause before Tsunayoshi Sawada, the Neo Primo Vongola, choked out, “What?”
The room was full of some of the most influential people in the Italian Mafia. The Vongola Don and Guardians, Xanxus and Squalo of the Varia, Enma of the Simone, Dino of the Cavallone, Uni of the Giglio Nero, Byakuran of the Millefiore and the collection of every Arcobaleno in their late teens.
“The machine is failing,” Talbot reiterated, sighing regretfully. “The design won’t last as long as we hoped.”
“I thought this had been fixed long ago,” Xanxus of the Varia scowled, his Guardians flanking his chair. Belphegor was already bodily wrapped around a frighteningly still Mammon. “That machine of yours was supposed to be a fucking fix-all. That’s how you sold it.”
“We haven’t heard of any sort of degradation,” Dino chimed in, confused, “So it can’t be mechanical, you would have addressed it already.”
“Dino’s right,” Reborn agreed, ignoring the gentle gasp from the Bronto. “If it were something you could fix, you wouldn’t have let it get to this state, Verde.”
“It’s not the machine itself, no,” Verde frowned, “It’s more pertaining to the fuel. The Vongola Flames offered are not enough to sustain.”
Tsuna sat up sharply, his Guardians shifting in their spots. They had been the ones to supply fuel to the Tri-Ni-Sette machine years ago as youths.
“So, what? Do you need us to give more?” Tsuna asked, full ready to supply. Their strength had only grown in the ten years since the machine’s creation, if they tried now, surely it would buy them time if not completely cancel the problem.
“If only it was that simple,” Talbot murmured and a sensation of dread settled in Tsuna’s stomach, Intuition whispering that this was not going to be a quick fix.
Tabolt lifted his sunken eyes and looked to the Vongola Boss. The ancient man usually had an air of youth to him, scuttling about the Vongola Headquarters with his sheep in tow like some merry shepard. But now? He looked truly old. The wrinkles and lines in his face deep, his eyes pained.
“Primitive,” Verde scoffed, turning away from the group. “And that Checkerface was so uppity. His curse caused more damage.”
“Speak clearly!” Mammon hissed.
“One too many times,” Talbot uttered quietly, “The Arcobaleno Curse, it was slowly stripping away the thread that held the world together. Such an incomplete solution…”
Verde shook himself out and spun back around, seeing all the lost expressions that faced him. He grit his teeth, hands clenching behind his back.
“The Tri-Ni-Sette system itself has corroded. Centuries without the proper maintenance and fuel, the metaphorical cogs of the system have been ground down to mere nubs.”
“Then what do we do?” Tsuna pushed, having enough of this doomsday talk and wanting a solution. “There has to be something we can do!”
Uni, for the first time since the meeting started, looked up from her hands in her lap and said, “Nothing.”
Everyone turned to her. She was still so small, fresh in her thirteenth year and she barely took up any space in the chair. She was so young, but her expression was as jaded as any Arcobaleno.
“The fuck are you—” Xanxus began and Byakuran slid his chair down the table until he bumped up against Uni.
“Hey, hey, hey!” Byakuran laughed, throwing his arm around Uni’s shoulders. “Mind how you talk to the princess, little false-prince!”
Squalo stood up with a shout, “Voi! Where do you get off calling the Boss ‘false’ fuck you Byakuran! I’ll slice that look off your face, just try me!”
Tsuna sighed and massaged the bridge of his nose, a stress headache settling in for the long run.
“Uni,” he called and the room begrudgingly fell into a hush at his voice. “What do you mean, ‘nothing’? Surely there’s something we can do.”
“Not anymore,” Uni shook her head, her eyes overcast as if she were actively searching for a future where they could. “Like Uncle Verde says, going forward, there’s nothing we can do.”
“So that’s it then?” Dino asked, brows furrowed in stress. “We’re done. The Tri-Ni-Sette system will fall apart and the world will die.”
Silence hung over the room as reality set in. There was nothing they could do. You couldn’t just fix this sort of thing. And they were too late to stop it either. The Tri-Ni-Sette was broken, and they had no way to put it back together.
“We can’t do anything going forward,” Verde reiterated, and Tsuna flinched like salt was rubbed into his wounds. “However, going backwards is another matter.”
Everyone at the table turned at that, baffled and confused.
“Backwards?” Tsuna echoed.
“Ooooh, time travel!” Byakuran beamed, clapping his hands with enthusiasm.
“The past doesn’t like being tampered with,” Uni warned softly.
“Yes,” Verde agreed with a weary sigh, “The Bovino Family managed to create a loop between present and the future, however, they were met with significant resistance when they attempted to connect with the past. Records suggested there was some kind of force or energy, similar to the Tri-Ni-Sette, barring them access.”
Talbot moved forward and spread out a large piece of paper on the table, detailing a kind of mechanical monster that was almost, if not more, complicated than the blueprints for their original Tri-Ni-Sette machine. The Bosses leant forward and regarded the diagram critically, trying to understand the schematics.
“Using the Bovino’s research as a base, Verde and I were able to make a breakthrough. A machine that can pierce that barrier between the past and present.”
“We managed to narrow the Tri-Ni-Sette’s point of no return. Just over thirty years ago—”
“That’s!” Skull jumped up, “That’s before our curse! We broke the system!?”
“We didn’t break anything,” Mammon snipped, bristling where they stood, smothered in Belphegor’s arms. “That Checkerface is the one who insisted on cursing people until he burnt out the system.”
“Why are you stopping there?” Fon asked with a soft frown, “Wouldn’t it be safer to go back further? Rather than allowing the system to wear so thin.”
“The past doesn’t like being tampered with,” Verde said, “The further back you go, the stronger the resistance. We can only go as far back as thirty years, seven months, four days and six hours.”
“How long will this take you to build?” Tsuna asked, turning the page his way and trying to imagine how much this would cost.
“It’s already built,” Verde scoffed. “This is our only choice. Why would I wait to build it?”
“Question~!” Byakuran crooned, kicking his feet under the table. “It’s great and all that you made this time travel machine, I’m a huge fan of that trope, but how does that help us when the machine also failed?”
Tsuna shifted because Byakuran was right. Their machine had failed to both fuel and maintain the last of the Tri-Ni-Sette. Even if they took it back, they were using the wrong ‘fuel’. They’d end up with the same issue, in the end.
“Simple,” Verde hummed, “We use the correct fuel. Sky Flames are a volatile Flame, they’re too light and impulsive. The Tri-Ni-Sette needs stability.”
Talbot smiled thinly, “What better Flame to care for the earth, than Earth?”
Enma of the Simone looked up for the first time, eyes bright in confusion and surprise.
“Earth Flame?” Enma uttered, idly running his thumb over his Simone Ring.
Earth Flames, with their dense Gravity and strong synthesis with the planet, was the perfect fuel. It probably always had been, but with the rise of Sky-centrism and the fall of the Simone, it had been swallowed into obscurity. Forgotten until it was too late to beg for it back.
Adelheid lifted her chin from her station behind Enma’s chair and smiled. Vindictive. In the end, the Simone had the last laugh. Even if it did cost the world.
“And what of the machine?” Xanxus asked.
“With some reconfiguration, the current machine is more than enough. I’d like to remind you that my creation is perfect,” Verde uttered with almost a grit to his tone. “It just came to be too late.”
“In summary,” Talbot elbowed his way around Verde’s posturing and took centre stage before the table. “We have the blueprints for a competent Tri-Ni-Sette Machine, and we know what is needed to correctly and sustainably fuel the system.”
“So,” Xanxus crossed his arms and leant back in his chair, regarding the room with a callous and stubborn eye. “Now it’s just a matter of who’s going back.”
The hope that had risen in the room plummeted with a heavy hush.
Who would go back? Over thirty years ago. It was before many of them were even born.
“Please understand,” Talbot said gently, “This journey. There is no return. The past will swallow you.”
“This is a one-way trip,” Verde agreed, “Whoever goes, you’re not coming back.”
Tsuna stared when they said that, his mind, usually aflutter with thought and Intuition, was utterly silent. His hands clenched on the table.
A one-way trip. He couldn’t ask anyone to do that. To leave everything behind and never come back. To be left, alone, in a time so far back…
No, he couldn’t ask anyone to make that sacrifice.
“I’ll go,” Tsuna decided.
“No,” Reborn shot down. “The Vongola needs their Boss — same for you Dino. No Bosses will be going.”
“But Reborn!” Tsuna urged, turning to the hitman who glared at the rebuttal. “We can’t just send anyone, and I can’t ask anyone to make this sacrifice. They all have lives here, people they love—”
“And you have the whole of Vongola and your Guardians relying on you,” Reborn scolded, “You will not go.”
“I could go,” Enma offered, but Talbot raised his hand to stop him any further.
“No, we will need you, Simone.” Talbot said, “Whoever goes back, it will take time for the timeline to recalibrate according to new variables. In that time, we will need Earth Flames to hold us together.”
Adelheid reached out and gently squeezed Emna’s shoulder, both as a comfort and a warning. The Simone would not survive losing another Boss.
“I understand,” Enma nodded, “We will help any way we can.”
“Thank you,” Tsuna uttered gently, and smiled when Enma reached to lay a hand over his own.
“I can go!” Skull offered, jumping up in his seat again.
“No Arcobaleno,” Verde sighed and shoved Skull back into his chair. “The residue energy from the curse would interfere with the jump. It’s too fragile to add an unknown variable.”
“Then who can we send?” Xanxus snapped.
“Why don’t you go?” Gokudera grit out.
“The Varia need me,” he shrugged.
“I’m sure they’d survive.”
Squalo burst out a bellow that threatened to pop ears and the two Right Hands began to snipe at each other from across the table. The room descended into quiet chatter as each faction discussed their assets, who had more to lose, who they couldn’t bear to be without.
“I’ll go.”
Everyone snapped around.
Sasagawa Ryohei, the Tenth Sun Guardian, gazed back at them with a hand raised.
“I’ll go,” Ryohei said again, making sure he was heard.

This is just speculation but all sings of legitimacy points to Dino if you also headcanon his father has the Cavallone family tattoos. I bring this up because Reborn was kinda smart having Tsuna training the same like Giotto, Tsuna has similar gloves to Primo, uses the zero point breakthrough like primo, is in the direct bloodline of primo, and brought back the original Vongola rings. All signs points to Tsuna being boss from the Giotto loyalist in the family.
Even Xanxus has his own signs of legitimacy with the wrath flame of the secondo and him using similar guns to Fabio the seventh boss.
Dino could have his own signs that points to him being boss, those signs may not mean much but they’re important for getting people to follow you. Dino could more capable sings and achievements which would motivate his loyalist.
Sorry this was long I’m getting very into these headcanon ideas
Oh don't worry, don't apologise at all! I am getting into these headcanons as well, again Amano gave us nothing, so all we can do is speculate <3
Anyway, I had forgotten the legitimacy detail, in my defence I watched completely the series/read the manga like 10 years ago and whilst I am slowly and with time rewatching/rereading the material I may have forgotten stuff in the meantime, but YEAH.
I guess Dino ALSO had signs of legitimacy, maybe less conspicuous because the Cavallone is a SUPPORTING family of the Vongola entourage, but definitely. Maybe there is a heirloom in the Cavallone family that indicates that Dino is the chosen one.
Also, I love his tattoo, it's so campy and also we use the word "baracca" to indicate something that it is a total wreck and it makes me laugh every time, but considering Dino's personality it fits lol
Now I am thinking too many things at once, but I may or may not have an idea to fit all of these headcanons and it will probably be in form of fanfiction, ANYWAY; I am digressing.
It would be so fun if it was something like a Tsuna vs Xanxus situation for Dino, tbh, and also if Dino has got his own guardians he definitely has had to show them he is the Cavallone boss at a certain point in time.
... I really want to write a full fanfic where I speak about Dino's background now ._.

Primo Tsuna/Decimo Giotto Role Reversal
So Tsuna’s Guardians are the ones who established the Vongola hundreds of years ago, being Vongola Primo; and Giotto and Co. are gonna be Vongola Decimo instead.
The arcobaleno may or may not stay being hundreds of years old, being there since Sawada Tsunayoshi’s time. Or the Arcobaleno Trial had just happened a few years back, so Reborn had enough time to grow OP enough to be assigned Giotto’s tutor (who may or may not be Dame). And this AU is about how Giotto’s group would handle KHR’s plot instead.
The home base remains to be Namimori, and I don't know how Italy fits into this, since Tsuna's are almost all Japanese (I forgot what Lambo is), but oh well!
