High Voltage AU Masterpost 2.0 !

consists of a short summary of each event, followed by links to art of said event !

Coup attempt & betrayal:

Terminal is sick of Circuit being in charge and secretly asks Signal for help overthrowing him. Signal initially agrees, but later tells Circuit about the plan and blames Terminal for it entirely to gain favor. Signal is more involved than Terminal from this point forward.

Atlas incident:

After a period of Signal continuing to block Terminal’s control, Terminal resolves to scare Signal into letting it back into power. It successfully blinds Signal in one eye before the entire situation backfires horribly; Signal retaliates, accidentally injuring it much worse than he intended to. Signal, worried about Circuit finding out, dumps Terminal into the pit and tries to keep the whole incident a secret.

Harmonia incident:

Signal eventually returns to the pit to check Terminal’s condition. Terminal, generally hysterical and hallucinating due to blood loss, mistakes him for the Whole and is Extremely Fucking Weird And Religious about it. Signal is deeply unnerved and leaves again in a panic.

[In his time in the pit, Terminal’s lower horns grow into his eyes and blind him completely.]

Circuit blows up:

Due to the deteriorating relationship between the three, Circuit's health has steadily gotten worse. It knows Signal has done something to Terminal, as Signal fed it a false story about Terminal attacking him and then running away; it does not believe this. Eventually, it gets so fed up with this that it forces Signal into taking it to Terminal's location.

Terminal retrieval:

Circuit and Signal take Terminal out of the pit and begin the very very long journey to recovery. Things are tense between all three at first, but Signal and Terminal finally start to work their shit out after the latter is healed enough to be lucid.

Circuit Wuv:

After Signal and Terminal reach an understanding, they present a united front to Circuit. Instead of trying to overthrow him, Signal and Terminal make clear that they truly do want to rule equally with him. Circuit is unsure about this, but now that he's been shown the other two won't instantly discard him the second he's not forcing them to follow his orders, he warms up to the idea.

Halfa Cass Chapter 8 Part ½

Black Bat got back to Gotham well before flying time. She took a shower to get the stinkyman stink out of her hair and apologetically took the green jacket to the wash. Cigarettes. Yuck! 

She joined the family for dinner. Damibat was there, face like thunder and clearly Not Talking to Alfred or Brucedad. Cass slid into her place and gave him a nod. He returned it. Very civil. We are professionals, Cain, you and I and no one else in this dump.

Cass hid a faint smile.

No Timibird. No Jaybird. Those were rarer birds to fly out to Wayne Manor, so she wasn’t too surprised. Just…

Cass readjusted her body language to be fine and normal. She didn’t need her flock family close for comfort. She was fine and normal! Yes, Stinkyman had said that she’d died. Yes. He said that.

(That fits with the pain of the electrical shock and the voltage necessary to short out bat computer, Cass’s Black Bat brain said sensibly.)

Cass hid a shudder.

But he’d also said that there may be no repercussions! As long as she left it alone and did not think about it. She had permission to pretend it didn’t happen. That was the best thing to try. She would eat her dinner and take her nap and then go flying.

Alfie served dinner. Cass caught herself playing with her fork, winding noodles into a secret pattern that might somehow make her feel better. 

“Is there something wrong with your pasta, Miss Cassandra?”

She looked up at him guiltily through her eyelashes and stopped playing with her food. Big sigh. 

“Will Master Timothy be returning to the manor tonight?” Alfie asked Brucedad.

Brucedad cleared his throat and put his spoon down for a moment. “I expect that he might spend the night with his friends in San Francisco,” he said.

Cass read the words beneath the words. Timbird was with the Young Justice friends. New plan. Not discussed. He’d been sent to Amity Park to investigate the laboratory where Cass had

(died. Where Cass had died.)

Been with Captain Marvel. And if he was out all day, it meant he’d found something.

Her heart jumped in her chest. She wanted to ask questions. She wanted to make sure that no one knew. 

Suspicious, Cass told herself sternly. Suspicious behavior. So she drizzled hot sauce on her pasta and ate a big mouthful.

Damibat copied her after a moment. 

Brucedad and Alfie did not wince, but they made their ‘white man thinks spice is scary’ faces. 

Cass quirked a smile. She put a lot more hot sauce. It was too much sauce. It turned the pasta red.

Brucedad made an unhappy sound and deliberately looked away from her plate. Haha. He was thinking: my stomach hurts just looking at that. Oh god, I'm old. Acid reflux. Heartburn. Acid reflux heartburn heartburn-

Bullying her batdad made her feel a little better. How could she be an undead abomination if she was, in fact, a naughty girl? Check and mate, existential horror. Cass finished her dinner and danced to her room on her toes, feeling the music from the last time she had performed on stage. She did a leap for the sheer joy of movement.

Everything still seemed better when she got up from her nap. Cass stretched on the floor beside her bed, and then flopped into a side saddle stretch to happily drink a bottle of green tea. She took it to the kitchen and into the machine for a wash and stole a peek into the fridge to see the after-flight snack. Protein balls! Chocolate and nuts? Cass stole one and fled to the batcave before anyone could see the crime.

Timbird was waiting in the cave on the big screen. He looked very tense. He and Batdad both looked at her when she came down the stairs.

Oh. There was a rock in her stomach. 

Cass beamed at them and flipped off the stairs to land in a gymnast stance behind Brucedad’s chair. “Hi, Timbird,” she said, acting normally. 

“Hi, Cass,” he said, sparing her a tired smile. “I was just telling Bruce how my trip out to Amity went.” She nodded, waiting for elaboration. Tense. “There were fresh tank tracks.” 

Oh. What. “What?” Cass repeated, because it was worth repeating. “Tanks?” She mimed her mind being blown.

“Yes, I figure that you would have noticed if they’d been there before.” Tim somehow seemed even unhappier. “The running theory is that someone was keeping an eye on the place and something about your trip out there alerted them.”

‘Machine. Electricity.’

“Extremely suspicious,” Cass said on rote. 

“Yes,” Batdad agreed gruffly. “There’s no legal justification for that kind of force being deployed in the continental United States and no record that we’ve found for it.”

“Definitely criminal.” Cass hovered for a moment. “Should I help?”

Timbird and Batdad exchanged glances. “I think that I would be best used in the cave tonight on research,” Batdad decided. “I’ll run comms while I’m here. Cass, can you and Robin handle things? There’s nothing in particular going on, aside from the weapons case. Robin has the information on that. We think that we’ve tracked the gang’s mechanic down.”

Cass gave a double thumbs up, more than a little relieved that she didn’t have to do anything related to Amity Park today. “Okay, I find mechanic and beat peace into them,” she said cheerfully. 

“You investigate and observe them,” Batdad repeated, faux-stern. Hint of smile. Naughty kid, tugging at my cape.

Cass nodded just as seriously. “Robin and I investigate, observe, beat until peaceful.” She smacked a fist into her palm.

Timbird snorted. “It sounds like a plan. I’m with YJ tonight, so I’ll log off.”

“Byebye birdie.” Cass waved on her way to the equipment lockers.

🤔⚡ How much electricity can a Time Lord safely withstand?

Time Lords, it turns out, are very resistant to electrocution. But how much zap can they take before they go a bit… crispy?

⚙️ Zap, Zap

First, let's do science. Voltage (the push behind electricity) isn't what kills—it's amperes (the current). A cattle prod might give you 2,000 volts, but at a low current, it just stings. Humans are basically okay until levels reach in excess of 0.1 amperes, when things start getting more risky. Anything over 0.2 amperes is often fatal.

Time Lords are (obviously) made of sterner stuff.

1️⃣ An Everyday Zap: Time Lords can brush off shocks up to around 0.2 amperes without losing consciousness, even if they're caught off guard.

2️⃣ A Moderate Zap: When caught off guard with levels exceeding 0.2 amperes, they will lose consciousness. This can be immediate, or it can be delayed just long enough for the villain to do their monologue.

3️⃣ A Huge Zap: Forewarned is forearmed! With preparation, Time Lords have survived insane currents of 30,000 to 300,000 amps through direct lightning strikes. The result could be much less pleasant if they're caught off guard.

4️⃣ A Zap Too Far: How much is too much? Good question. Gallifreyan biology definitely has its limits, but we don't actually know or can work out what this upper figure might be. We can be quite sure that being caught off guard is more dangerous, and levels in excess of 300,000 amperes haven't been tested yet.

🩺 Recovery

Regardless of the voltage, Time Lords bounce back unnervingly quickly. They might be left with some singed skin, a brief headache, and a newfound respect for rubber gloves, but they're as good as new in no time.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll just be checking those surge protectors in the TARDIS.

The Cars that Ate London!

Synopsis

The advent of electric carriages on London's streets causes a stir – until they start careening out of control. Elsewhere, factory workers lose their senses, while a brand-new power plant suffers mysterious outages.

Genius industrialist Fabian Solak has a vision of the future – free from pollution, running on clean electricity. But Madame Vastra knows such ideas are ahead of their time...

We open with one Jenny Flint buying racing pigeons because Vastra keeps eating the- because the pigeons keep getting out. She also buys a swan for Vastra (which, if you know Brit lore, the Queen owns most of the swans for some reason XD, and this is therefore a big ""Fuck you"" from Vastra to the Queen), when suddenly an electric car without a driver attacks the market. At home in Paternoster Row Vastra checks if Jenny is okay and promptly suggests a 'lie down' together... 😂 The guy making the electric cars owns a factory that quite literally works its workers to death in assembly lines, or absorbs the people's brains. The Gang infiltrates said factory (Strax starts a small war after doing a gloriously funny Cockney impression), trip an alarm, and have to flee. Strax runs through a wall. They try to escape in their carriage, two electric cars chasing them. When the carriage crashes, Strax is prepared to take the cars on in hand to hand combat; he sees it as a tactical advantage for himself that the cars don't have arms. Or so he thinks: the electric cars are actually electric TRANSFORMERS. While Strax rallies the workers to seize the means of production (communist king) and Jenny is prepped to be absorbed (she kicks the lady trying to tie her up and frees herself), Vastra has a talk with Mr Solak that ends in her being electrocuted and temporarily disabled for being IBSANELY mouthy. Solak's transformers are automated enough that he doesn't require any more workers, and he plans to absorb the brains of everyone in London with his factory he's made mobile. Well, they manage to escape and get caught AGAIN (they're that skilled istg) they try to absorb Strax as well, and while Vastra talks to Solak and distracts him, Strax takes advantage of the high voltage they connected him to and uses the energy to recharge himself properly. A hilarious audio to kick off the fiest boxset, though not without its serious moments. The concept is insane tho and I love tha. (@jennyandvastraflint )

THE POKEMON CHOICES *SCREAMS*

When I had only one Teto in mind, I was SO ready to use Miraidon, like absolutely 100% on board the Miraidon train. I was SO certain they wouldn't use Miraidon for Miku... And then they did. And I was upset.

I went back and forth between a million choices, and a lot of them I couldn't pick still because Project Voltage already did. I was struggling. When I decided to draw two Tetos, I just said FUCK IT, I'll break my no repeating any Project Voltage choices rule and do Koraidon and Miraidon because it's perfect

Anyway Koraidon and Miraidon got changed literally last minute because I could NOT draw those fuckers. They were too shaped for my brain--Koraidon especially. It just looked so bad. Anyway I like the apple guys they're funny and work just as well.

For the character designs I uuhhh. I went full anime. That's about it. I want more dragon trainers to have claws. Imagine Hassel with claws please. Absolutely perfect.

And people are free to make content with my OCs without having to ask me for permission, I always love seeing when people make something with my characters! That's the crew! Again, I'm still not sure if they count as headmates or not, but while they were created to be parts of me to help me get through my trauma, they were very much their own people that only really "fronted" during specific times. It's all very confusing, but they still mean a hell of a lot to me.

us three [sunny, kip, & folly] have recently gotten involved in development of a second cccc au called polar orbit ! for simplicity’s sake we wanted to very slightly repurpose this blog to serve as an archive for Both aus rather than just for high voltage. all of our critters in one enclosure so to speak .

in addition, we’re going to revamp some things like the masterpost & the plot summaries to make them Easier To Read & more organized. neither of these changes should make anything more difficult to find, tagging will remain consistent across the page .

polar orbit will be presented very differently than high voltage, though we are still figuring out how it is going to look . the idea of an askblog or other interactive story of sorts has been kicked around, but that is all i will say about it for now x-]
