"I don't know why I'm in the FBI."

You blink at Spencer, putting down his coffee as you sit across from him. "Hm?"

"I just... do you ever wonder if you've lived up to expectations?"

You take the paper from his hands, pulling out a pen from your pocket.

"All the time."

"Well, you're also a child prodigy. You—"

You tilt your head, raising a brow at the paper. "Spence, we're two sides of the same coin. Besides, you're only thirty."

"Wait— how did you—"

"Glad you're using the cufflinks I got for you." You slide the paper back to him, tilting your head. "You're doing great. You're just doing the same job as the rest of us. Besides, you have three PhD's. God knows if I'll ever finish mine."

"Heard you're defending soon." He raises a brow.

"That's not the point. Tell me what I missed, boy wonder." You tilt your head playfully. "I obviously spelled something wrong."

Spencer looks at the paper, reaching over to pinch your cheek affectionately. “Glad you got the binary part, though.”

You smile at him, head tilted sweetly as you get up with him.

“and Spencer?”

“Hm?”

“I’m glad you’re here. We wouldn’t have met otherwise.”

Spencer gives a crooked smile in thanks.

High Voltage AU Masterpost 2.0 !

consists of a short summary of each event, followed by links to art of said event !

Coup attempt & betrayal:

Terminal is sick of Circuit being in charge and secretly asks Signal for help overthrowing him. Signal initially agrees, but later tells Circuit about the plan and blames Terminal for it entirely to gain favor. Signal is more involved than Terminal from this point forward.

Atlas incident:

After a period of Signal continuing to block Terminal’s control, Terminal resolves to scare Signal into letting it back into power. It successfully blinds Signal in one eye before the entire situation backfires horribly; Signal retaliates, accidentally injuring it much worse than he intended to. Signal, worried about Circuit finding out, dumps Terminal into the pit and tries to keep the whole incident a secret.

Harmonia incident:

Signal eventually returns to the pit to check Terminal’s condition. Terminal, generally hysterical and hallucinating due to blood loss, mistakes him for the Whole and is Extremely Fucking Weird And Religious about it. Signal is deeply unnerved and leaves again in a panic.

[In his time in the pit, Terminal’s lower horns grow into his eyes and blind him completely.]

Circuit blows up:

Due to the deteriorating relationship between the three, Circuit's health has steadily gotten worse. It knows Signal has done something to Terminal, as Signal fed it a false story about Terminal attacking him and then running away; it does not believe this. Eventually, it gets so fed up with this that it forces Signal into taking it to Terminal's location.

Terminal retrieval:

Circuit and Signal take Terminal out of the pit and begin the very very long journey to recovery. Things are tense between all three at first, but Signal and Terminal finally start to work their shit out after the latter is healed enough to be lucid.

Circuit Wuv:

After Signal and Terminal reach an understanding, they present a united front to Circuit. Instead of trying to overthrow him, Signal and Terminal make clear that they truly do want to rule equally with him. Circuit is unsure about this, but now that he's been shown the other two won't instantly discard him the second he's not forcing them to follow his orders, he warms up to the idea.
