I maid a Miku (haha)
For an official collaboration on Piapro! The theme was "classical maid". I looked up 18th century maids (if I got accurate results who can say but I saw a lot of paintings and then found an opera with similar costume designs) then added some Chopin music onto the dress because why the hell not.
Tried to keep the illustration sketchier than I normally do so I wasn't hunched over redrawing one stroke for 15 minutes. Not sure how I feel about the colouring. Gonna have to do more experimenting to find something that won't demolish me alongside the chronic pain.

Drawn for a 30th anniversary fan art submission thing so it might be published in an artbook for said anniversary. I am in incredible pain. I did it all in one day and finished with 3 hours to spare. I am stupid and going to go lie down forever now byeeee

I made an English cover of Mesmerizer with Teto and Asterian!
It hit 1.4k views in the first 24 hours. I think that's neat. :)

Since y'all are sleeping on my Tetovage masterpost, I'm going to post them all individually with extra tidbits of info and there's nothing you can do about it!!
Last, but not least, Eighteenth is Fairy!
More info under the cut.
Ah, Fairy! Another screaming about 'what pokemon do i choose' and constantly changing it. When I realized Fairy was going to be last, I decided to give her some Legendaries/Mythicals. Magearna had already been a contender from the jump, going back and forth between Fairy and Steel as a choice. Zacian I'd brought up once or twice, but I initially showed reluctance because, if I brought it in, I wanted to bring in Zamazenta, too.
I got over that eventually. Zacian was literally a last minute choice, in the end. I do not regret it. Once again, thank you MMD Pokemon riggers for my life I would not have been able to figure out the dog's damn shapes without you.
For the character designs, I knew what I wanted to start. I wanted a devil & angel motif. The devil/imp theme I had figured out immediately. I could envision it perfectly. The angel one... not so much.
I thought I had it figured out when I thought of Princess Peach and her in Sunshine. I could envision it clearly. Almost like a magical girl, but not quite. Big flowy ribbons in the back, tiny little angel wings, pastel colours, and this sparkly, translucent skirt & sleeves underneath the main dress
I hated it. It didn't turn out how I wanted at all. I didn't do the concepts in order, so I said I'd come back to it later and see if I changed my mind.
Later came, and I had not changed my mind. I still hated it. To google I went, looking up cute fashion ideas when I saw an outfit that hit me like a truck and gave me the immediate inspiration for the final design, which turned out perfectly. I still got to keep the Sunshine Peach inspiration under the jacket.
I would post the inspiration photo here but I can't find it anymore. It was mostly the jacket that inspired me lol. It had big ol pockets that made me think "you could fit a plushie in there--WAIT A MINUTE"
Now, Fairy was optionally going to be the final image. There was one I wanted to draw afterwards, but it was always a maybe, and that was to make something for the Stellar Type, introduced in Scarlet/Violet!
I got the concept art down, but by the time I'd finished lining and colouring all of the other pictures, I was extremely drained, burned out, sick, and absolutely dying of pain. Damn you chronic pain for making my hobby hurt.
Instead of making a new post, here's the concepts, and the sketch for the final illustration for the Stellar type!

Seventeenth is Steel!
More info under the cut.
Ah, steel! I knew I wanted Tinkaton for SURE, whether it was Fairy or Steel, I didn't know. As you can see, she ended up in Steel. The second 'mon I kept changing my mind over a lot. I really loved Mawile, but also Magearna, but ooh what about Gholdengo I could use that here, but also -- etcetc.
When I was sketching out the sketch for the final illustration, I felt I needed something to like... better match Utau's design. The better match ended up being Perrserker! Sorry, Mawile. You were very close and ilu tho
For the character designs themselves... I thought of a lil knight right away. Simple and easy. They already did it with... that one Elite 4 dude, I forgot his name, but, whatever! When I thought of the helmet and it having steel drills in place of her pigtails though I laughed and had to do it.
SV's design was actually considered for Fairy!! I drew it as just a standard lolita dress to begin with and wanted her to be more of depressed fairy type kinda thing until I was like "yknow... this might fit steel better actually". Gave the dress a metal frame with spikes and there ya go. I feel the execution in the final illustration is a bit lacking, but I've never been good a giant, poofy dresses like that. I did my best!

Sixteenth is Dragon!
More info under the cut.
THE POKEMON CHOICES *SCREAMS*
When I had only one Teto in mind, I was SO ready to use Miraidon, like absolutely 100% on board the Miraidon train. I was SO certain they wouldn't use Miraidon for Miku... And then they did. And I was upset.
I went back and forth between a million choices, and a lot of them I couldn't pick still because Project Voltage already did. I was struggling. When I decided to draw two Tetos, I just said FUCK IT, I'll break my no repeating any Project Voltage choices rule and do Koraidon and Miraidon because it's perfect
Anyway Koraidon and Miraidon got changed literally last minute because I could NOT draw those fuckers. They were too shaped for my brain--Koraidon especially. It just looked so bad. Anyway I like the apple guys they're funny and work just as well.
For the character designs I uuhhh. I went full anime. That's about it. I want more dragon trainers to have claws. Imagine Hassel with claws please. Absolutely perfect.

Fifteenth is Dark!
More info under the cut.
The Pokemon choices! These were once again a selection I struggled with a lot. I'm too lazy to throw out all the Pokemon I'd considered. I changed them again last minute because I'd had Incineroar and Meowscarada, but wanted to cull my overabundance of Gen 9 mons (best Gen don't @ me).
I do like the choices in the end! Fun fact, the canvas for the final illustration was going to be much smaller when I first started it. These were the only 4 to actually fit in the box without issue, which is another reason why I liked the choices.
Don't have much to say for the character designs ngl! They were pretty immediate ideas and I really like how they turned out.

Fourteenth is Ghost!
More info under the cut.
I initially had Shedinja as the Ghost Pokemon for the longest time! When I realized I was going to draw 2 Tetos, it still stayed for one of them, while Mimikyu was chosen for the second. Eventually, Shedinja was removed for Gholdengo, who I thought was more of a "gimmick" Pokemon comparatively. Then, I changed Gholdengo to Gimmighoul when SV's design was finalized.
For the characters themselves, I had an idea for Utau in mind immediately. Big giant chains. Very big loose clothes. I thought it might be a little too much though and was thinking how I could change it until I got the vibe I wanted. I stumbled across some Halloween sketches of another OC of mine with her as a creepy doll and was like "THAT'S THE ONE". Got to keep my big poofy sleeves! That's what I wanted the most!
For SV, it took a little bit of time before I got an image of a horror movie that didn't exist with a widower at a funeral with glowing red eyes under her veil. With the design in mind, I changed Gholdengo into Gimmighoul so it was like that was what she received from the will or whatever.

Thirteenth is Rock!
More info under the cut.
Ah, the Pokemon choices! Diancie had always been my first pick when I was only going to do one, and then I added Minior, and I don't think they ever changed. Easy! Except I really wanted to use Aurorus and I'm so made Miku stole her from me I love that Fossilmon u don't understand aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
For the character designs, I knew I wanted Utau to be an astronaut with a jetpack like right away. I wanted to keep it simple and readable, and I knew I didn't want a giant space helmet. Then I remembered Steven Universe and as like "YEAAAAH THAT"S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT" with the inspiration as it hit lmao
SV also started with Steven Universe inspired roots. It still exists in the hair, but the initial concept kinda... didn't work out. I'm still not the biggest fan of how the design turned out myself, but I don't hate it or anything! She reminds me of someone in a Saloon in a Spaghetti Western for some reason?? Am I the only one?? Am I crazy?

Twelfth is Bug!
More info under the cut.
For the Pokemon, when I only had one choice, I picked Beedrill because... Drill. I wasn't very excited to do it though. When I decided to do two Tetos, I removed Beedrill and just tried picking what I thought would be fun, and then I thought of the past/future theme, so I went with Slither Wing and Volcarona.
They were the choices for the longest time, until I wanted to cull back some Gen 9 choices to make things... a little more fair. Some Gens still got less rep but whatever. I had Shedinja on my list for a long time so that ended up being the replacement for Slither Wing. The replacement for Volcarona I kept hesitating on. Eventually, I picked Vespiquen, because I otherwise had NO Gen 4 representation.
I really wanted to pick Masquerain, it's one of my favourite Bug Pokemon, but I like Vespiquen, too! You can see a lil Masquerain in the book SV's reading as a lil easter egg, I guess. :)
For the character designs... oh boy I struggled, man. I initially just threw down... whatever I thought of. I was doing something completely unrelated when I suddenly had a thought out of nowhere about a Teto with a hood on her head and giant orb eyes staring at you while she plays video games. Giving some more thought to it, I based her a little big more off of Penny from Scarlet/Violet and gave her a Pokemon bag. Venonat was the best choice cuz it's just a fluffy lil guy!
For SV, I struggled a lot with it. I wanted to give her a silhouette that made it look like she had a lot of arms, hence why I wanted 4 drills of hair. I toned it down a little bit and tried to just make it more of a... casual dress. In the end, the shawl/sweater/I don't know what it'd be called was to emulate a shell/wings. That was the best I could think of tbh.
