A random thought I feel like sharing into the void:

Almost definitinally transhumanists/body-modders have to be okay with transgendered folks. I'm not super well traveled, online and offline, but I see enough gatekeeping in communities that I expect there are transphobes in the transhumanist and body-modder communities. It doesn't make sense to exclude transgendered people, though. They are making an effort to be more/different than the body they are born with. Who cares if it isn't some grand cybernetic enhancement, or even if they get gender affirming care. They are modifying themselves. I like that. Biopunks, the lot of them.

Rock on, trans punks.

Some big news on my front! I don’t post a whole lot here usually but I am getting a new puppy in April! He’s a long haired chihuahua and will be named Tamagotchi.... He’s a stupidly sweet baby and I absolutely enjoyed meeting him and his breeder recently. This has been something I’ve been planning for ages and now he’s finally going to be a reality! 

He has all his necessary supplies, BUT, I am sharing an amazon wishlist for things because it’s essentially his baby shower. I have the whole month to finish getting ready and I want everything to be as perfect as possible for when he comes home. Most of these are also things that would be handy for my older dog Frisk, as he is aging and needs more help with things like his dental care and joint supplements! But nothing on here is 100% necessary and I will still be buying a lot of these myself at some point in the near future.

Love how tumblr has its own folk stories. Yeah the God of Arepo we’ve all heard the story and we all still cry about it. Yeah that one about the woman locked up for centuries finally getting free. That one about the witch who would marry anyone who could get her house key from her cat and it’s revealed she IS the cat after the narrator befriends the cat.

the implications of crowley talking in a baby voice to the bentley are insane bc he does it while holding the plants meaning either crowley has gone completely soft in season 2 or he’s waging psychological warfare with the plants, making sure they know who is the favorite. both options are absolutely bonkers

I use tumblr on mobile. Lately Netflix has been running ads for their new shows, and it feels like I'm dodging the Fae with the way those ads look. They are structured just like a normal post, some even have polls in them. They are a work of fantastic digital camoflage design. Credit where due. But it puts me in the mind of avoiding Fae folk, not in the mind of whatever series the ad is for. They are subtly... off... just enough that I pause before engaging with it and notice the mark of the beast, "sponsored."

I wonder sometimes if pausing with an ad on screen is recorded by an algorithm here. I like tumblr for its relative anonymity, I don't feel like the product (as much) here, unlike xitter. I hope tumblr doesn't suffer the enshitification.

I feel like we aren't taught how to deal with discomfort anymore. Life for most people is designed to maximise comfort for the most part. Or at least remove most forms of discomfort. People still go through pain, through sadness but we often try to find ways to avoid discomfort. It might just be me but it's the only emotion I don't think I have many coping mechanisms for. I find it hard to just be made uncomfortable with something. I think it's the reason why people will try to lash out and try to rationalise their discomfort as something worst.

i love that specific ao3 phenomenon where you get a sudden influx of kudos on a work and it’s clear someone shared your fic but you have no idea who they are or where they shared it. it’s like being a dickensian orphan receiving money from a mysterious benefactor.
