🌹📓✂️
🌹 - most recently written line from a WIP
Okay so this was going to be Rowan's Birthday but then I realized I has an unfinished sentence in The Vitalitheo scene LMAO so let's go w that
"He thought over his newly recovered memories. Across the centuries, he had been many things: an innocent child thrust into war, a healer, loved but ultimately used, a fierce warrior who fought for what he thought was the greater good, and all that time, he couldn't say he was the same person, but that was still the undeniable truth. Vitalis formulated an answer, and voiced the feelings located in the deepest parts of his heart."
📓 - the plot of a WIP I haven't (and probably won't) write
Yeah uhhh the scene where Theo tries to usurp Vitalis is probably not getting written until a few years from now, it's in the middle of the story and less emotionally charged than when the two are actually talking so I shouldn't write it because it will not have the necessary context for ppl to know what it's about and I don't want to write it because the scene where the two of them actually talk is yummier to me
✂️ - cut plot lines
Supposedly Blizzard was meant to have a dynamic with Rowan but that is not going to happen Rowan has far too many dynamics already LMAO

I’m also only just realizing that I never posted Vitali here. My bad rep warrior, my problematic worstie, Vitali Volkov. Heir to a majority werewolf offshoot of the Bratva run by her father. She and Miron are my girlfriend’s bad guys. Which is saying something because her guys are also very bad guys. Maybe worse. In some ways. Anyways you can’t fix this one so don’t even try.

Warrior of the Day: Mistystar
Mistystar is one of those characters where they stopped having a concrete personality and motivation for her by aVoS and she became a puppet of which the editors move to their whim. Need conflict? She’s suddenly unreasonable. Need someone to support the main character? Suddenly she’s reasonable when otherwise it would be more sensible for her to be in conflict. She ceased to be “Mistystar the character” and became Mistystar the Plot Device.
Mostly what I would want to do with her is keep her personality consistent and arc logical. OS Mistystar is sharp, clever, a bit rude, but sensible and able to see other perspectives. She starts off with an ailing mother she takes care of because of her dementia. She just lost her father and is going through a rough spot in her marriage. Her son Perchkit dies from the Spanish flu and RiverClan is going through a cultural shift as Crookedstar is in his last years of leadership.
I would want to highlight how horrific Tigerstar’s persecution of half-Clan cats/people is because it absolutely is textbook fascism. Because she’s not the only half-Clan cat targeted. So are her children. Pikepaw dies saving Primrosepaw and smuggling her to America to be safe, and she is being personally made to be an example because her parents were so highly ranked and because Tigerstar wanted to make Bluestar suffer out of pure malice. She loses her brother, she loses her children, and the person she looked up to, Leopardstar, is the one allowing this to happen.
She takes the deputy position, but to keep an eye on Leopardstar. She never truly forgives her for not stopping Tigerstar and she hates anything to do with Tigerstar. She wasn’t fond of Hawkfrost and stood in his way because she wouldn’t bow down to his whims. She also tried to interact as little as possible with Mothwing after the reveal that Tigerstar was her father.
But she is a fair and strong deputy, able to smoothly cover up the rougher tracks of Leopardstar’s lack of tact. She has good relations with everyone but Blackstar, as she treats him quite coolly if diplomatically.
Enter Mistystar’s Omen. She says she is excommunicating Mothwing from being High Healer because of her lack of reverence in StarClan, but the real reason is she cannot concede the idea that anything born of Tigerstar could be innocent. She’s really grappling with her own trauma caused by Tigerstar and taking it out on his daughter. She has to come to terms with what happened and cherish what she has left, and while the memory will never go away, she can create new memories and find happiness in those that remain.
However, she starts developing dementia around A Vision of Shadows, and this is hereditary, as Bluestar, Goosefeather, and Daisytoe developed it as well. She’s not able to be as effective a leader as she once was in her prime and is making bad decisions. After seeing her Clan attacked again by Darktail and made examples out of to sow fear and terror, she tries to protect RiverClan by isolating their group which is a highly unpopular decision in RiverClan. As Mistystar continues to decline cognitively there are whispers of when she’ll pass away as by then, Reedwhisker is the one mostly running RiverClan. Someone decides RiverClan will never grow or improve as long as Mistystar remains in charge. And that person is Curlfeather.
Name: Michelle Beatrice Vitali Chastain | Celeste Steele
Description: Mistystar has a lithe, compact, muscular frame with broad shoulders and a broad, handsome, rectangular-shaped face. She has tan skin with cool undertones and a distinct nose inherited from Oakheart that is redder than the rest of her skin. She has thick, sleek, plumy (2B), blue-gray hair that reaches her neck and gradually lightens at the fringe. She has striking, upturned-shaped, wide set, very pale blue eyes.
Headcanons:
Celeste, her birth name, means "of the sky, heavenly". This has a similar meaning to Bluestar’s name, Diana, which means “"divine, goddesslike", and connects the two as mother and daughter. They are described as very similar, so they also share a similar face and body, although Mistystar is thinner.
Mistystar was a bicentennial at the end of her life, at a staggering 231 years and 6 months. She would have looked 85.46 years.
She used to have long, very thick hair, but it was cut off by Tigerstar during the events of The Darkest Hour. In Clan culture, long hair used to be seen as a sign of proof of longevity and warriors would cut their long hair before battle to declare to their ancestors they were ready to die for their Clan’s honor. By doing this, Tigerstar was sending a message that Mistystar was going to be killed. She kept her hair short after that as a reminder to Leopardstar about what she let happen. It was only after Mistystar’s Omen she started letting it grow long again, after she confronted her trauma and admitted to herself she was carrying that trauma with her.
Her second apprentice was Mothwing, which complicates her response in Mistystar’s Omen. It was a shock to her she reacted poorly to by staying away from Mothwing, and her novella is also about repairing and coming to understand Mothwing and how they’re both survivors of Tigerstar’s manipulations. This can be seen in many parallels between them, such as them both sharing the same name, Michelle and Michaela both meaning the same thing.

NEW MARTYR JOSE MUNOZ-CORTEZ (1997)
Brother Joseph was born in Chile in 1950, into a pious Roman Catholic family of Spanish descent. He was a boy of twelve or thirteen when, passing by the Russian Orthodox church in Santiago, he was attracted by the sound of singing and went in. There he became acquainted with Archbishop Leonty of blessed memory, and under his influence José was baptized into the Orthodox Church two years later, with his mother's consent. As a university student, José was studying theology when Metropolitan (then Archbishop) Vitaly, on a trip to Chile, learned of the youth's monastic aspirations and invited him to Canada. José lived for about a year at the metochion (a monastic affiliate of Holy Transfiguration Monastery in Mansonville) in Montreal, but the hectic life there did not suit him, and he left to live on his own, while preserving a genuine monastic disposition to the end. A talented artist, he secured a job teaching art (watercolor) at the University of Montreal, and began studying iconography.
In the summer of 1982, Brother Joseph went to Mt Athos with a particular interest in visiting some sketes and monasteries specializing in icon painting. At the small skete of the Nativity of Christ, Brother Joseph felt an immediate and strong attraction for an icon of the Mother of God, a contemporary (1981) copy of the ancient and revered Iveron Icon. He was disappointed to learn that it was not for sale, but to his great joy, as he was leaving the skete, Abbot Clement, unexpectedly handed the icon to him, saying that it pleased the Mother of God to go with him to America. Back in Montreal, Brother Joseph began reading an akathist daily before the icon. A few weeks later, on November 25, he awoke and smelled a strong fragrance. The new icon was streaked with myrrh, miraculously emanating from the hands of the Mother of God.
For the next fifteen years, as myrrh continued to flow from the Icon, Brother Joseph devoted himself to its care, accompanying it on numerous trips to parishes all over the United States and Canada, to South America, Australia, and Europe. Everywhere, the Mother of God worked miracles, healing souls and bodies, reconciling adversaries, strengthening the fainthearted, inspiring repentance, and consoling those burdened by grief or misfortune. This applied not only to Orthodox believers, but to many heterodox as well. But where grace abounds, one can expect trials and tribulations, and the difficulties that Brother Joseph endured can only be imagined: "Come here," "Go there"; he was criticized for not doing as others wanted, he was offered fantastic sums of money for the Icon (he himself lived in monastic poverty, readily giving what he had to those in need; or he bought icons and materials for painting icons). At all times, Brother Joseph tried to be sensitive and obedient to the will of the Mother of God. He was, first and foremost, her devoted servant. He was also faithful in fulfilling the countless requests for prayers that he received, daily commemorating scores of people, among whom were several dozen godchildren.
While the sinister circumstances of his death are still unclear, it is tempting to speculate concerning the motive for such a ghastly murder; after all, the Icon was not in Brother Joseph's possession at the time. From a spiritual perspective, however, the explanation is apparent. As written in an obituary prepared by the Icon's Home: "We live in a time of great spiritual awakening, but the spirit that awakens is that of satan, and all that is of Christ, of Jesus, of God, is a goading irritant to the carnal man, inciting the infernal wrath of the deluded."
May the life and martyric death of this true warrior of Christ be for us a compelling example, and may his memory be eternal.

COLOSSIANS 2:20-3:3
20 Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations- 21 Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle, 22 which all concern things which perish with the using-according to the commandments and doctrines of men? 23 These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.
1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
LUKE 9:23-27
23 Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 24 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. 25 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? 26 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father's, and of the holy angels. 27 But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the kingdom of God.

And considering that 89% of sex workers say they want to leave but can't (Farley et al. 2004; the study surveyed 850 sex workers in nine countries), I think it very fitting to (marginally) adapt the Kontakion of Saint Phanourios (thanks to @orthodox-femininity for sharing it with Tumblr) to Saint Vitalis and ask whoever reads this to pray it:
From a vile captivity, thou didst deliver the Lord's daughters, and, O Godly-minded one, didst break their bonds by divine might; thou didst bravely shame the tyrants' audacious madness, giving joy unto the Angels, o thou great martyr! O Vitalis most glorious, we all revere thee as a true warrior of God! Saint Vitalis of Gaza, pray to God for the safety, freedom and temporal and eternal salvation of the sex workers of the world!
If I was a billionaire I wouldn’t buy strippers or hookers. I’d pay normal girls to become strippers and hookers for the night.

Monastic writings play a great role in the historiography of the Early and High Medieval periods. However, more attention should be paid to how these monastic chroniclers approached the topic of warfare in their time. Because they were often patronized by or born from medieval warrior elites, monks adapted their worldview and writings to the demands and spiritual concerns of this class. Writers such as Orderic Vitalis in 11th and 12th century Normandy and his French contemporary Bernard de Clairvaux drew on a long Christian doctrine of ‘just war’, as first elaborated by the bishop and theologian Augustine, to justify their patrons and subjects’ wars and violence. This was, in part, to solve a key contradiction in Christian doctrine - how can a warrior obey the commands of a God who says “thou shalt not kill”?
Although Augustine of Hippo had allowed for the possibility of a ‘just war’ in the Late Roman period, he did not break down the preconditions for such a thing. As theologian Thomas Aquinas later noted in his Summa Theologica, however, Augustine cited Luke 3:14 (“Do violence to no man, do not bear false witness, and be content with your pay”) in defense of his argument that the Christian religion did not forbid soldiering. Obviously, to appeal to the warrior elites of Late and post-Roman society, Christian authorities could not outright forbid their way of life. Thus, during the Late Roman period, the Church developed a literary model for these men to aspire to, with warrior saints such as Saint George and the Theban Legion entering the corpus of hagiography.
This continued from the Late Roman period to the post-Roman period. Liturgy supplied the justifications for war and bolstered the spirits of Charlemagne’s armies, with priests and bishops marching to war with the armies of the Holy Roman Emperor. Such a bellicose spirit was present in the church literature of the time, as well. Janet L. Nelson writes that “a series of writers from Agobard to Hincmar called on kings and emperors to engage in warfare to defend the church and the weak”. Monks in Charlemagne’s empire chanted the “more martial psalms”, in hopes of victory. For the intellectual Alcuin of York, the most esteemed learned man of his day, such warfare was not as objectionable as were the forced conversions that came with it. Nothing came of his complaints about this to Charlemagne, that we know of.
It was this tradition that chroniclers such as Orderic drew upon. Orderic, initially writing the history of his abbey in Normandy, soon turned his sights on a general history of the world, from the Birth of Christ to the Anarchy. Though uncompleted as of his death in 1142, it provides a great deal of insight into the time and a monastic writer’s thoughts about it. As noted scholar of Anglo-Norman history Marjorie Chibanll notes, he never questioned society’s tripartite division into clergy, peasants, and warriors. Furthermore, when it came to Henry I’s wars, he sought to make it hew with the ‘just war’ idea, writing:
“They were all clad in mail and spared each other on both sides, out of fear of God and fellowship in arms; they were more concerned to capture than kill the fugitives. As Christian soldiers, they did not thirst for the blood of their brothers, but rejoiced in a just victory given by God for the good of the Holy Church and the peace of the faithful.”
On the other hand, Chibnall notes that Orderic showed no such “appreciation for the human qualities and suffering of the enemy” in the case of ‘Saracens’. This hardness of heart towards so-called pagans is a throughline with Bernard de Clairvaux. It is well known that Clairvaux had a hand in the formation of the military order, the Knights Templar. His In Praise of the New Knighthood is perhaps the apex of such thought, written directly in response to the burgeoning Templar order’s spiritual concerns over their dual role as monks and knights. In this tract, Bernard exults in “the new knighthood” devoted to Christ, and the “worldly knighthood” that, in his view, brings only damnation and death. He also declares stridently that “the Christian glories in the death of the pagan, because Christ is glorified”. However, he also notes that “when there is any other way to prevent them from harassing and persecuting the faithful”, conflict is to be avoided.
From this brief survey of monastic literature of the period, we can see a coherent tradition of justifying war begin to emerge amongst the writers of the time. Rather hewing unquestioningly to pacifistic beliefs, Late Roman and Medieval Christian authorities carved a space of exception out for the warriors amongst their co-religionists. In short, this was a deliberate adaptation, carried out over hundreds of years, by a multitude of writers and theologians. Rather than denying the metaphorical gates of heaven to warriors, these men flung them wide open - with some preconditions, of course. Sources Primary

My second primal baby!
These two are Vitali descendants and they along with their soon to be siblings are getting ready for the May leveling event!
I enjoy these two a lot as they're almost identical! Aside from the eyes and slightly different tertiary color.
These two are not currently up for grabs but most likely will be after the event assuming I don't donate them to the main Vitali's Warrior thread.
#vitali descendants#fr dragon share#primal eyes#nature primal#if theres another tag for primal eye content warnings lmk#I know they can cause a visceral reaction for some people (certain ones do it for me tbh)

Artist: Vitaly Bulgarov Title: MORTAL SHELL - Teaser Images for one of the key characters “Another key character design I created for our upcoming indie game Mortal Shell ! These pics are part of the early character teaser images you might’ve seen already if you’ve been following the game’s official socials (Discord, FB, Insta and Twitter). I deliberately made these renders as dark/cropped images (rendered in Octane) as part of the initial pre-announce tease and will be posting the easier-to-read full height pics as well as final textured lowpolies a bit later down the road You can’t really see here but underneath the armor/clothing there is also a base underbody model made by Dmitry Parkin We used that body on quite a few occasions on the project when designing new characters, even when the armor or cloth would completely cover it, as it worked as a great guide/mannequin for overall proportions, neutral pose and in general would speed things up in terms of character design and 3D model production Making this design was an exciting challenge as I tried to make it more “fantasy” and not referring to any specific historical armor yet still somewhat making sense (only somewhat though lol ) or at least appealing to my personal taste with darker/moodier aesthetic. I wanted to make a heavy looking coat as an armor set since the days when I played Witcher 3 but with partial scales(both big and small) and all while with a heavy gothic knight/paladin feel to it” Impressive work...
