"I am a computer Engineer and Mom for 3 children from Gaza , Rana Hassan Alabsi, with a strong ambition and perseverance. Over the past 10 years, I've worked tirelessly, I've dedicated myself to my family, working hard, planning, building my career. Despite facing challenges, I became a well-known professional engineer in Gaza.
Unfortunately, my life has been upside down since Oct ,Since that particular day, thousands of innocent lives have been lost in Gaza, many of innocent people lost their works and the only source of income like me.
Me and my childrens 1 of them, he is10 years old with downsyndrom and need a safer place and health care to still a live, left our home under the continuous bombardment and artillery strikes, on foot, without carrying with us our personal supplies, clothes, or Even our money, heading from Gaza to Deir al-Balah. There in Deir al-Balah we lived the most difficult days of our lives in a shelter with scarce resources, sleeping on the ground.
Without covers, without drinking a healthy water, then we moved to Khan Yunis after the intensification of the strikes and bombing, Then we moved to Rafah in the hope that we would find safety there or find a way out of Gaza to a safe place that we dream of for the future of our children,Let us live a happy, safe life for us and our children, and keep them away from all this pain, destruction, and siege, and spare them from the miserable future that will await them if the situation continues as it is in Gaza.
I come to you with a heavy heart and an urgent call for help. My family are currently caught in the war in Gaza, facing the harsh reality of an escalating crisis. The situation is dire, and I am reaching out for your support to facilitate their safe passage to Egypt. In this moment of desperation, I share the situation where it has taken a toll on their well-being.
This urgent plea is not only for their safety but also for the health of my son, who is facing serious conditions that demand immediate attention.
My family is trapped in an environment where access to necessary medical care is severely limited. The escalating crisis compounds the urgency, especially considering my son's health conditions. Time is of the essence, and we are in a race against it to get him the vital medication and care he desperately needs.
My loved childrens are in a situation beyond their control. The fear in their eyes and the desperation in their hearts are indescribable. We need the money to cover practical costs of transportation, documentation, a place to stay and shelter in and other essentials required for a safe crossing to Egypt. And so that they can take care of other needs once they cross safely. As of late April the evacuation fee ranges between $8,000 and $10,000 per person, before processing and transport fees, and we will pay the higher end of the range since Hayde doesn't have passport. Me and my family asking for 50,000$ based on the following breakdown: an evacuation fee at the Egyptian border of $8,000 - $10,000 per person , $4500 - $5000 per children as each day there is a different price for evacuation fee at the Egyptian border, plus a processing fee of $2,000 per person, $2,000 for transportation, and a 2.9% commission fee.
Any amount raised beyond the total will be used to supplement me & my family lives as refugees in Egypt. Your donation, no matter how small, will make an impact. You will be contributing to getting my family to safety. The funds will be used transparently and every dollar will go towards securing our evacuation.

!!This post is about food, eating, health and diets!!
What do you fucking mean you don’t eat seed oils?! Do you know science and history and food? Do you eat nuts and seeds? How do you think homo sapiens have lasted so fucking long?
Obviously seed oils are not the key to eternal life the same way any fucking diet isn’t. And write that down, humans have survived on various diets forever because climate affects what grows where and humans went everywhere. The only things humans have avoided eating are things that kill them quickly. It is true that some diets are healthier than others but I want you to look me in the eyes as I tell you that the Mongols have lived in upper stepp for THOUSANDS of years eating horses and horse milk and that’s mostly it. AND they took over most of Asia and started taking over Europe.
I am vegan, mostly, because I want to be. I don’t have dietary issues that force me to live vegan. I’m vegan for environmental reasons and I don’t like eating animals. Everyone should have the freedom to eat whatever they want so long as it doesn’t interfere with other people’s freedoms, and I understand eating a certain way because of dietary reasons, health issues. The only food miracles I’ve ever witnessed is my older sibling suddenly not being gluten intolerant after their pregnancy and how measurably healthier and happier people become once they stop inhibiting themselves with “healthy” diets.
Miracle foods and super foods aren’t fucking real guys. Not eating certain foods that your body can process pretty easily because “it’s been processed” or “it’s bad for you” is a measurably illogical belief. Every food can be bad for you if you eat too much and not ever eating fruits and veggies is also unhealthy but other than that, unless your body can’t process a food or you’re allergic to it, no food is actually “bad” for you.
I avoid mushrooms and eggplant because I hate their taste. My sister avoids spicy food because she’s weak. The majority of the western hemisphere eats too much protein and impoverished areas (called food deserts) don’t have access to foods that carry vitamins important to the human diet. All of this is true.
The paleo diet, juice cleanses, every weight loss diet, the keto diet (unless you’re a malnourished child), the raw meat diet, the milk diet, every diet that makes big promises, is bullshit. The only true things about eating is, eat your fruits and veggies, eat your grains and protein, and don’t be excessive. And that diet looks different for everyone.
A huge part of human evolution is sharing food, by making food special. Recipes passed through families are sacred. We regularly show that we care about certain people around us by remembering what foods they do and don’t like. Different parts of the world are known for their different cuisines, food is a HUGE part of culture. I cannot emphasize enough how incredibly important it is to everyone that you enjoy eating. It is vital that you allow yourself to enjoy eating.
That was very intense. I have tagged this so that people eating disorders or have a hard relationship with food can avoid it. My hope in this post is that I have persuaded you away from the health industry and creepy conspiracy theories before you started to really consider them or just reminded some people that they’re normal.
The health industry does not care about your health, they care about you fearing for your health. They do not recommend vitamins, supplements, or diets because they are good for you but because they want to have control over how you spend your money. There is science, with research and peer reviews, that explains how our bodies process food, what foods tend to be better or worse for bodily consumption and why they are. Their is research on cultures that have rituals and traditions surrounding food and how that has affected them. There is research, done by psychologists, on how our brains respond to food and culture. Research that spans over hundreds of years. Do not listen to people trying to encourage you to eat a certain way, to people throwing away normal foods, like bread and seed oil, or detailing all the horrible things in processed foods. Researched science doesn’t want to sell you something (except that climate change is bad). If someone wants to sell you health, it’s bullshit.

“Drink this please, my lady,” The doctor passed you a small vial from a nearby table that Naoya had watched him brew and mix not long before. Naoya made sure he was in the room when anything you were ingesting was being prepared, thanks to Emi.
You frowned in response, turning your nose up in disgust. Every time you met with this doctor; he had a brew ready for you at the end of his physical. An herbal tea that was infused with extra nutrients and supplements that were supposed to assist with the development of the baby.
He was forced to travel in the snow from a neighboring village to be here. To check your vitals and to reassure Naoya Zenin that his wife, carrying his child was healthy.
It was always disgusting, and bitter. And every single time you had trouble keeping the concoction down. Holding the vial in the palm of your hand, you instinctively looked over to Naoya who was standing at the foot of the bed.
His brows furrowed in response, and he only nodded his head urging you to drink it. Anything that the doctor said would help foster a healthy child, Naoya was for it. The fact that Emi had been poisoning you for weeks while you were pregnant made him doubtful that you would carry to term.
You swallowed thickly in preparation and lifted the vial to your lips to drink it down all in one gulp, focusing all your attention on keeping it down. Once it was gone, the doctor took the vial from you and put it away with the rest of his instruments.
He began packing up and glanced in Naoya’s direction while he spoke.
“Everything seems to be coming along. Unfortunately, we won’t know much more until she is further along. If the mother is happy and healthy, then the child should be happy and healthy,” The doctor picked up a bag of his items and threw it over his shoulder. “Should she experience any pain or fatigue, summon me again at once but from what I can see there’s no need for her to be restricted as of now. It’s still very early in her pregnancy, the lady is fine to move around and continue her normal activities. No cursed energy use though, growing a child is enough strain on your body... exerting more would only hinder the growth of the child,”
Naoya remained quiet as the doctor spoke, dismissing him when he finished. The doctor nodded and bowed before he retreated from the bedroom leaving the two of you alone in your quarters.
Well, there it was from the doctor's mouth. Although Naoya was adamant about your bed rest and keeping you locked up inside, he gave you the okay to resume some of your normal activities. What was normal anymore?
The snowstorm had been going nonstop for weeks and you and Naoya were separated from the rest of the estate. A guard of five men, Lianne, and three or four other trusted staff women resided on this side of the estate. He preferred it that way.
He had forbidden you from going anywhere on your own. He only allowed himself or Toji to escort you anywhere outside of your quarters. Even if you were with Lianne, a guard was standing by who would report to Naoya afterward.
Yasu was “put to work” immediately. According to Toji, he was gathering intel, on what? He wouldn’t share that much. He did, however, tell you that Emi’s execution had been postponed.
Even though she had tried to poison you, you were relieved to know that she was still alive. How long that would last? You hadn’t the slightest clue, you knew that Naoya wanted her dead and you didn’t think you could stop it from happening.
You could feel your stomach turning as that concoction settled in your belly, subconsciously placing a palm over your mouth just in case it decided to come back up.
“Are you going to be ill?” Naoya asked, walking from the foot of the bed so that he stood beside resting a hand on your back in comfort.
“N-no, I’ll be fine,” You offered him a half smile, drawing in a deep breath of fresh air to calm your queasiness. “I don’t think I'll ever get used to the taste... it’s so bad...”
You could see Naoya’s brows draw together in a tight knot and felt his hand drop from your back while he stood silently in thought. He seemed troubled at the fact that you felt ill, maybe he felt about his insistence for this medley from the doctor.
“I’m alright, I can stomach it Naoya-sama...” you reclined on the mattress you sat on, your legs dangling over the edge barely touching the floor below. You sighed in contentment and placed a hand fondly over your small, rounded belly. “It’s for the health of the little one after all,”
Your chest swelled with happiness momentarily as your mind wandered. You were thinking of how it would be to feel the warmth and to hold a healthy, newborn baby against your breast. But just as quickly the feeling of dread came over you at the thought of the child being a girl instead of the heir that Naoya so desperately wanted.
Both of your eyes fell shut in response to the salty sting of tears that began to prick at the corner of your eyes. You couldn't care less if the child was a boy or a girl, you just wanted it to be healthy and loved.
Your sole purpose here is to bear me a son.
Your throat grew tight as the uncertainty washed over you, the taste of disappointment and fear more vulgar than the brew you had ingested moments before. Naoya said in his own words when you first arrived here that you were to give him a son... what were the consequences if that didn’t happen?
Naoya seemed to fancy you. He treated you softly and equally indulged in your body just as eager. But people change, you bore witness to that, your brother certainly had. With Naobito in charge of the Zenin clan, your fate wasn’t certain, none of your pleas would change that.
“Y/n,”
Naoya’s voice brought you back to reality and away from the storminess of your thoughts. He sounded as if he were so far away from you but when he repeated your name a second time, he sounded much closer. His voice was a bit muffled, and you were sure you could feel the warmth of his breath against your belly.
“Yes?”
At some point, Naoya had repositioned himself so that he kneeled between your legs his hands pressed against your abdomen carefully as if he were handling precious cargo.
He pressed another kiss against your belly and looked up in your direction although he couldn’t see you. He sensed something was off, your mood, something was bothering you. He had a knack for figuring that out though you didn’t hide it well. You wore your disdain on your face and hid it rather poorly.
“Whatever is bothering you, forget about it. You’re safe here. Our child is safe... If there’s something I can do to make you feel more at ease, tell me,”
Naoya lingered in your chambers the entire day, which was rather out of character. You knew he had things to do, things to take care of. Instead, he put his energy into making sure that you were comfortable and less on edge than before.
Before long the day had long ended and you had fallen asleep in his arms, no word of trouble yet as the snowstorm that had been pounding the estate for weeks slowly began to subside.
“Oi, little idiot,” Toji raised the lantern above his head so that the orange afterglow lit up the inside of the cell in front of him.
Emi raised her head in discontent, her eyes narrowing in annoyance. Her eyes were red, bloodshot from crying perhaps and her hair was a tangled mussed up mess.
Toji hummed an amused chuckle as he squatted down to get a better look at the distraught woman before him.
“You’re the only one down here in the biting cold, can you believe it?” Toji tutted his green eyes glittering in the reflection of the flames. “Naoya has postponed your execution, what do you have to say about that?”
Emi sat up abruptly, the thick blanket she had been wrapped in falling from her frail form. She looked terrified, unsure of how to respond. She hadn’t faced Naoya since he returned from the campaign. Did Naoya mean to have her killed?
“Execution?” Emi’s voice wavered substantially, unsure of what to make of the admission. “Naoya-sama is going to have me killed...?”
She paused again, her gaze falling to the dirty cobbled stone floor beneath her. She whimpered incoherently, tears falling down the stretch of her dirty face.
“I didn’t mean for any of this to happen Toji-sama! Please you must let me explain that to Naoya-sama!” Emi begged, turning her gaze back to Toji.
“Oh, there is something you can do to win back Naoya’s favor, perhaps then he won’t kill you,”
Emi perked up at Toji’s suggestion grasping at the iron bars of her cell. She was desperate, so desperate that he could taste it. This woman would do anything to win Naoya’s favor, oh, and perhaps not to end up impaled through a pike.
“I’ll do it, I’ll do whatever you need me to do, I promise,” Emi wailed, bowing her head in complete and utter submission.
Toji stood up bringing the lantern with him. He smiled slowly, canines glistening against the red of his lantern.
“Good... you only have this one chance to redeem yourself,” Toji watched as Emi got to her feet her small hands still clasped around the metal bars. “If you’re unsuccessful, I'll kill you myself,”
Emi nodded profusely, bringing her gaze back to Toji’s verdant eyes. He snickered under her gaze, his eyes flashing a deep red before he fished out something from his trouser pocket.
Emi held her hand out expectantly and watched as Toji placed something small wrapped in burlap in her palm. Whatever it was, it was obscured from her view and wouldn’t be revealed until it was unraveled.
“This is your key to freedom... don’t fuck this up, got it?”

I did find apothecary diaries manga, am gonna end up reading for a while, but it is absolutely giving me that itch to create a court system with like. Multiple different class structures and stuff. Because I understand apothecary diaries is about a fictional not-China kinda setup since it’s like. Not based on a real Emperor and real consorts but inspired by historical fiction to make an interesting story about a girl who is a lady in waiting to a consort of the Emperor. But also a skilled Apothecary/pharmacist and medical care provider. And kind of a botanist but when it comes to the more Chinese influenced medicine I think it really overlaps but I’m very ignorant about a lot of Chinese medicines because it’s been really undervalued here. Which really makes it more interesting to learn about it ‘cause like… a majority of modern medicine is adapted from natural medicine so it’s like. Just finding the chemical compounds that causes the reaction and doing advanced chemistry that I don’t understand because I didn’t pass grade 12 chemistry even let alone going into university and doing pharmacy sciences, so it’s all connected and important.
Natural and chemical is the same thing half the time. I’m just too fuckin stupid to understand it. And Chinese herbs aren’t local so i don’t know what they do. There’s a plantain herb here that’s not a very large banana that my mom’s made into a really good pain relief cream, same with turmeric, that’s really good for inflammation too. And they don’t make my eyes burn like menthol so it’s good for the jaw pain I get. I might have th wrong name for the plantain herb. My mom grows it but most people pluck it like a weed and throw it out. Honestly same with camomile up here, it grows wild like a weed. And dandelions have a lot of herbal properties. I think they make a really good anti-itch cream… though that might be the camomile. Most of this stuff my mom’s been making. I haven’t been as involved ‘cause I haven’t been as active. But there’s really cool stuff with really good properties. I’m just. Local to northern Canada. So I know different herbs.
All that to say this series is my jam and the episode where she has to deal with convincing well meaning but ignorant busybodies the correct ways to care for a bedridden sick person is really cathartic. Like honestly just “hey you have to feed a sick person food they can actually digest and not ‘health food’” was like. My struggle with convincing people I needed to eat the right food so that I had enough energy to digest more complex food instead of just having it run through me or having my body reject it. Like having people force me to eat “healthy” high fibre food when my body literally didn’t have enough energy to digest it so I just passed it and therefore gained no energy from the food and became sicker was so frustrating because then they would get mad at me for not eating something nutritional when what I needed was something calorically dense just so that I could have the energy to digest something with nutrition. You need energy to digest food. That’s how people can starve while eating. That’s one of the key signs of malnutrition. If you have green diarrhea or you have a child with green diarrhea, it’s because the food is not getting digested and it might be like. Because the body doesn’t have enough calories to digest the food getting eaten. That’s why recovering from a starvation event it is important to start slow and eat carb and fat dense meals and ease into fibres, supplement the vitamins with medication. It’s difficult. Rice and bread are stables because We Need Carbs To Live. Carbs give us the energy to digest the rest of our food. Fats give us the energy to live. They are vital to our existence.

I have a severe texture aversion to most foods and developed a horrible relationship with food by trying to force myself to eat things I didn’t like. This has led to weight cycling throughout my life.
Some of these strategies might work for some people but it’s not a guarantee for all. Thankfully I have some staple veggies and fruits that I can tolerate, and smoothies are a daily must for me, but it’s not always realistic to think everyone can just slather veggies in sauces and other unhealthy stuff just to get them in your body.
You can get vital nutrients through vitamins and supplements. If you’re exercising and otherwise leading a healthy lifestyle, there’s nothing wrong with that. That’s why we have fortified foods in the first place. Just like with good chemicals for brain health, store bought is fine.
i mean this in the gentlest way possible: you need to eat vegetables. you need to become comfortable with doing so. i do not care if you are a picky eater because of autism (hi, i used to be this person!), you need to find at least some vegetables you can eat. find a different way to prepare them. chances are you would like a vegetable you hate if you prepared it in a stew or roasted it with seasoning or included it as an ingredient in a recipe. just. please start eating better. potatoes and corn are not sufficient vegetables for a healthy diet.

Can not overstate the importance of sunshine. Even 5-10 minutes once a week is enough to keep a particularly red-head pale person (me) going for another week. Vitamin D plays SO MANY ROLES in your body, among them mood and other hormone regulation. Depression is aided by sunlight because sometimes you are depressed, and sometimes you are (more) depressed because you have a crippling vitamin deficiency that supplements will not correct.
Because cholecalciferol, the metabolite of vitamin D found in fish and supplements, can be very poorly absorbed by some people’s guts, particularly if they lack certain bacteria.
And while it’s tempting to think of vitamins like little individual puzzle pieces, they’re more like dominoes. If you lack one, you lack others. If you lack those, you then lack this mineral. Lacking this mineral makes it very hard for your body to use this other vitamin. And so on so forth — and at the very crux of these? Fat soluble vitamins, A, D and E.
An example of the cascading effect above: the D-iron pipeline. Lack of vitamin D causes the body to not process vitamin C. When the body is deficient in vitamin C, it can’t store iron, but also can’t retrieve it. All the iron locked away in your liver and spleen depend on vitamin C to unlock it. The body CAN use other metabolites to force this process, but none are as efficient, which leads to anemia, which makes you quite generically ill and lethargic.
Another is the cholesterol-E relationship; your blood vessels are Made Of cholesterol. Now, your body CAN synthesise cholesterol, of course, but it can’t do that without tocopherol (vitamin E). A litttttle bit of tocopherol goes a loooooong way, but nonetheless it is something the body doesn’t synthesize on its own, unlike vitamin D. So you need to either eat animal fats or nuts in order to obtain it.
Vitamin A is also like this, except that we are graciously omnivorous and can convert beta-carotene into retinol (vitamin A). So far more plant based alternatives, though our bodies still have a much easier time with plain old retinol from the connective tissues and fats in animals. Retinol is famously important for skin health, but it also regulates your immune system far MORE than vitamin C does.
But the real kicker? You can not properly store vitamin A without sufficient vitamin D. And you can not properly utilise vitamin D if you don’t have enough vitamin E.
To say nothing at all of the relationship between vitamin D and the B complex, which your nervous system (like your brain) depends on to function. But it’s a good rule of thumb that just having your face or forearms exposed to uvB for a short time can really build up reserves of vitamin D that make depression considerably more bearable for some people.
