Artemisia vulgaris (Mugwort) is one of my favourite native plants and today’s #oneadayplant . Often seen on the verge and central reservation of motorways, this statuesque herbaceous perennial, can tower over others at up to 1.5 (5’) tall. Given time, it makes impressive stands, especially on cultivated ground, where it can bulk up quickly. . Foliage is variable, but typically grey-green and pointed with tiny silvery, bell-shaped flowers for a long time in summer. Tough as nails. Popular with insects. It has a number of culinary uses around the world, though I have tried none, so recommend none.
