i cannot post my giant wip yet, but i have written So Much of it that i thought it would be fun to draw the three ships and where they start in the first act (this is a big oc fic. there are more) as a cute little preview of coming attractions <3

I’m mad because I can’t ask about all of them (I mean I could I guess) but maybe tell me about dragon ancestor stuff???

I haven't done any work to see if this even makes any sense with D&D lore so if it's whack - my bad. Consider it homebrew.

So sorcerers have like innate magic inside of them that gets passed down genetically. And my thought for how Evie's family got their powers is basically one of her ancestors saving a dragon egg and bringing it on a big journey to another dragon clan to look after it. I started writing about who this ancestor is as a character and why she would want to do something like this in the first place (spoiler: she's working through some personal stuff). This dragon clan thanks Evie's ancestor by blessing her family line with magical abilities, with the truest of heart among them being the strongest sorcerers. It's supposed to lead into this Act 3 arc for Evie to tap into more of her latent abilities now that she's using them for love, and justice, and all that 'power of friendship' type stuff.

The big significance, and what I think still works even if all these details were to change, is that most other people in Baldur's Gate see this as probably Wimberley myth making. They sort of gossip that the family stole their magic from some powerful being and most likely did not obtain it from an act of altruism.

Evie fully believes this story of her ancestor doing something heroic but she thinks it's a sort of naive thing to believe so she never tells people how she feels. It's like one of the most honest, tender hearted things about her before the events of BG3 and she doesn't want anyone to know.

She's such a pain, I love her.
