nesta was fiercely protective of both people and things around herself that she felt needed it. but it was hard enough to keep track of everything that needed protection in this town, she was just keeping her head above the water's edge--if that was the saying. but she knew it was hard to focus on everything else. "you weren't a bother." nesta found herself saying. which was only partially a lie. she hadn't been bothered by the presence of the other when she had shown up. more shocked by everything. it was hard enough to explain everything she had been thinking about. this town was dealing with so much so quickly. "i was just curious, i don't get much foot traffic to the studio." which made her wary. she had a lot of students. but it was more word of mouth than anything else.
gwyn blinked at the question. she never did manage a decent excuse for her behavior that day ; rather , she strategically tried to avoid explaining it. ❝ oh , uh ... ❞ she stumbled over her words. her actual reasoning would seem insane to the other , given the lack of memories. all she wanted was her friend back , but now she was seemingly a stranger she knew too much about. ❝ yes , that was me , ❞ she admitted with an awkward laugh. ❝ i , uh ... i was just new in town , exploring ; and i never saw a studio like yours , ❞ she partially lied. it was true that the dance studio was foreign to her , much like many places in mystic since her arrival ; but it was its owner that caught her eye first. ❝ i should've apologized for being a bother ... i'm not typically like that , promise , but ... ❞ she couldn't think what else to add.

robin couldn't believe she had said those words out loud and she shook her head. she didn't even understand what she had said, or why she had said it. robin knew it was difficult, that she hadn't meant to say the words out loud even if she had meant them. she turned toward barney when he spoke and shook her head, "any guy?" she questioned. she shook her head, "i mean, obviously, but i still think that any guy wouldn't want all of this. they're intimidated by women who have even an ounce of power." she shrugged. which was true, but it was hard enough to even explain that to most people. at least robin thought barney would somewhat understand that.
∿ 𝅄 ˚ barney didn't mind spending time with robin . she was more interesting than most people that he knew , even if he kept that thought to himself . he liked robin , though he'd yet to figure out what his actual feelings towards her were . he chose to dismiss any thoughts that lingered on her for too long , he chose to occupy his mind with other women instead . he knew it wasn't great , but he preferred sleeping around to commitments . barney had an aversion to relationships after his first heartbreak . if he just allowed himself to have fun instead , he couldn't ever be put back in that position . barney nearly choked on his drink at her words , staring at her in surprise . “ robin , look around you , ” he said , gesturing around the bar . “ literally any guy in this bar would be more than happy to go home with you . ”

mystic wasn't anything zenon had thought she would be dealing with. she missed her space stay. or even, something like it on earth. this place was different and nothing was going right. she felt like she was in a different time, which she was--she had seen a timeline and saw that it was years earlier than it should have been. "there was totally some attitude." zenon replied with a nod of her head, sparing a glance back toward the coffee shop attendant with a roll of her eyes. "you don't have to, but it's a nice offer."
⊹ — from texas to new york, sharpay didn't think she'd ever end up in a town like this. it was small, quiet and not loud enough to be in par to its true potential. she much preferred the city, how insane it was and active. mystic was a little boring. waiting for her coffee was boring, too. her attention diverted itself from her phone, looking at the other blonde as she spoke freely. “ is that barista being a total jerk to you, too ? ” she eyed over at the working guy, clearly unimpressed by his attitude. “ want me to say something ? ”

mystic felt like a different kind of hawkins, and it was changing everything for nancy. she didn't know what to do, but she was doing everything to keep her head above water. she was thinking that she had it under control, at least mainly, other than the people who didn't remember and some people coming back to life. but being there with steve was something good. wasn't it? at least it was something that kept her grounded when she needed to be. "this." she said quietly, as if that made it clearer, a slight gesture as she looked between him and then back down. she didn't know how else to explain it. she nodded her head, "i know you're here." she repeated.
their time in mystic was ... complicated , to say the least. it was hard to not be on edge all the time , terrified of what could be around the corner. as much as steve tried to take it day by day , appreciate the calm while they had it , there would always be an air of unease surrounding them. perhaps the only comfort he had was to have nancy by his side. he couldn't exactly explain where their relationship stood at this point ; he felt too blinded by his own bias to see clearly. as much as he may have wanted more , he accepted nancy's mere presence as a gift in itself. at her words , he reached to grab hold of her hands. he wasn't entire sure what she was referring to , but he offered comfort nonetheless. ❝ what's too good to be true ?? ❞ he asked softly , looking for the answer amidst her features. he was clueless. ❝ what's up ? you know i'm here. ❞

katie was perplexing to him, but adam was just in this place. like his brother and everyone else. he didn't know how he had gotten there, or how to get out, but he was just stuck. "well, if you put it that way, no," adam shrugged his shoulders as he looked at her with a small shrug of his shoulders. and then he continued, "but, honestly, would you really want to kill me? or wouldn't you, like, break whatever assassin's code you'd have taken?" he teased, joking with a smile.
∿ 𝅄 ˚ she didn't know why mystic had so many new people showing up , and she wasn't all that interested in investigating it , either . she'd heard whispers of other people who were determined to get to the bottom of things , but she thought her time could be better spent making new friends . she chuckled , head shaking in response . “ you're funny , ” she told him , her words actually sincere . “ although , if i was sent by someone who wanted you to dead , that'd probably make me an assassin and i wouldn't be a very good one if i told you that , ” she teased .

kelsi nodded her head at his words, "well that makes one of us." she answered. and she was happy for him. because if troy was happy, making progress with gabriella, didn't that mean it was possible? that they could all be getting memories back? she wondered about it all. it was hard to think about. but she hoped that it would mean good things. "i'm happy for you." and she meant it. she just wished that she was anywhere but here. "and i hope what you're saying is true."
troy watched his friend for a moment. he was not clear how to respond immediately , as there was a lot happening as of late. ❝ i know , i know ... me either ... ❞ he let out a heavy sigh. he rubbed the back of his neck. ❝ well ... i think i'm making progress with gabriella , ❞ he admitted. he knew kelsi was probably so tired of hearing of gab , but his obsession was always obvious. still , he needed to make his point. ❝ it's hard to say if she's actually remembering anything but ... i'm getting the sense that something is clicking all of a sudden ... so there's hope for us yet. all of us. ❞

maybe if maeve had been new to this place like spencer was, she would be having a similar thought process. it was hard to think about it all. but she had had three long years to think about everything that she had been through. it was hard to begin to think that it was bringing them back together in some way. she didn't quite know how she felt about that. maybe a bit happy, but somehow guilty too. because she wished that she had more time with him but didn't know what this all had meant. "i would say the beginning is always a good place to start," she said lightly a small smile crossing her face briefly. but then she looked back at him and shook her head. "i don't know where to begin either, spencer. i don't really know what any of this means."
∿ 𝅄 ˚ his head was still reeling from everything he'd witnessed . spencer was having a difficult time processing the fact that he was not dreaming or being tormented by some twisted murderer . everything happening was real , and he didn't know how to accept that . he was logical , he found it impossible to apply any sense of logic to this scenario . maeve was dead , very much so . he'd seen it with his own eyes , and yet , she stood there before him . it made no sense , and he knew that nobody else from the bau was going to be able to guide him through this , either . he'd been uneasy since he woke up there , even more so when he first saw her . he couldn't comprehend how this was possible . this town went against everything he'd ever known or believed . it defied all sense of logic . that was something that didn't sit properly with spencer . his leg had been bouncing up and down since he sat down across from her . he just didn't know what to do . “ we should talk about things , ” he agreed . “ maeve , i just . . . i don't even know where to begin . ” he doubted she knew , either .

rikki wasn't the kind of person who opened up to people. then again, she knew she needed to be more open and willing to talk to people. especially when so many people had begun moving into the town she lived in. "then we're on the same page." she replied with a slight nod of her head. her hands wrapped around a small cup as she followed her gaze to the table in question. "yeah, looks good." she said as she took a seat.
⊹ — she didn't quite understand the whole memory loss thing that was plaguing the town, but cleo was trying to be patient with rikki. after all, they were best friends with the same secret. she was being steady, letting her friend go at her own pace when it came to restoring what was lost. " yeah ? i know you were a friend i needed, " a smile is given as cleo speaks, walking towards a nearby table, her to-go coffee cup in hand. " how's right here ? "

hallie wondered sometimes why annie was spending a lot of free time at the vineyard, but she didn't mind the company. in fact, she actually welcomed it. it was nice to see her around. "entitlement? oh i see that a lot here with people who come to the vineyard, trying to rent out the winery and do parties." she rolled her eyes at the thoughts. "i'm sure you do too, in your line of work. people can be awful." hallie let out a small laugh, shaking her head at the thought.
annie was embarrassed to admit how often she found herself at the vineyard. she probably seemed like some obssessed stalker of hallie's , at times ; but really , whenever she just felt a bit lost , annie still found some sort of comfort in her sister even if she didn't remember her. ❝ i don't know if that's a habit. half time time , it's borderline intentional , and that's what makes it shitty , ❞ she argued as she approached. she hesistantly claimed a spot by the fire , enough to feel its warmth , but still leaving the other some space. ❝ i think entitlement is definitely up there ... ❞ she said with a nod. ❝ you wouldn't believe the gall of some people. ❞

sam wished that she was home, for the most part. at least if she were home she wouldn't be caught with a lot of pent up emotions like she were now. seeing austin, realizing he doesn't remember anything. but home brought a lot of other things that she might have to deal with. and sam didn't really want to have to deal with it all. "being able to really take time would be nice." sam agreed. "sometimes things go by too quickly. or you don't get to do something you want to." she shrugged her shoulders as she thought back to high school. back to her step mother keeping nearly everything from her.
∿ 𝅄 ˚ austin was not the type of guy who revealed who he truly was to most people . he put on an act , because he didn't need anyone knowing the real parts of him . it wasn't due to embarrassment or anything of the sort , he just wanted to be left alone and live his life his own way for the most part . his father had been breathing down his neck most of his life , and he knew it'd only get worse . sam's words caught him by surprise for a moment , he blinked , nodding a couple of times before clearing his throat . “ i know what you mean , ” he said . he felt oddly comfortable around her . “ it'd be nice if time could do that . it'd be a lot easier to live in the moment and really appreciate everything . ”

katniss shook her head at peeta's suggestion, though the thought made her smile at the thought. she didn't think she should help make the bread. or even could if she thought about it. she'd only ever gotten bread from peeta or his family, katniss would never have bread if everything else. "well, it might be something to see me attempt to make bread. but i wouldn't want to risk your shop." katniss admitted with a slight shrug of her shoulders. her skills lied elsewhere. though she could at least cook. somewhat. her cooking was subpar, if she were being remotely honest with herself. "though if i'm not bothering you, i could take something to drink. hang out at least."
it was always slow in the bakery around mid - afternoon ; past any lunch rush , but before anyone stopped by after school or work. thus , he learned to appreciate some occasional company to help pass the time ; and while he tried to hide some of it , peeta was very eager when katniss had come in at the perfect time. even if she just lingered while he did some tasks to look busy , he didn't mind. there was just something about her presence. ❝ hm ? ❞ he looked up from wiping the counter. ❝ what do you mean ? ❞ he asked as he threw the rag over his shoulder. he leaned against the surface across from her , his head cocking to the side slightly. ❝ if you're so bored , ❞ he cautiously looked both ways to make sure no one else was around. ❝ i can always put you to work making bread. ❞ a smirk spread on his lips as he stood up straight. ❝ else , i can just get you something to drink while you hang out and contemplate the meaning of life. that works too. ❞

max hated still living at home with her mother and step father, but it was all she could afford. in this place, she never really knew how to explain that she was just stuck time and time again. she felt like she was running on empty half the time. when she wound up at lucas's place she didn't know what to do. but she felt safe there. with him. it was just something she needed to do, to get away from all the chaos she was feeling and be somewhere she was feeling somewhere safe. "nothing happened." she said quickly, shaking her head. "at least nothing specific." she shrugged her shoulders as she looked at him, stepping inside.
∿ 𝅄 ˚ lately , for lucas , things in mystic has been a bit . . . confusing . he'd been having odd dreams , but they felt weirdly like memories that he couldn't locate . it was all trippy , but he'd been keeping it to himself . lucas wasn't someone who wanted to burden other people with his odd troubles . he'd rather be there for people when they needed him instead . he'd been up that night , he had been since he woke up from another one of those obscure dreams and couldn't fall back asleep after . he hadn't been expecting company , but when he saw max through his peep hole , he found himself concerned . lucas was quick to open the door , a million thoughts running through his head . what was bringing her to his door so late ? he didn't have the faintest idea . he was usually happy to see her , but the expression on her face had him worried . “ it's okay , ” he assured her , stepping aside so she could come in . he wasn't going to turn her away or leave her out there standing in the cold while he asked a bunch of questions . “ is everything okay , max ? did something happen ? ”

mj glanced at peter with worried eyes. she didn't know why she was so worried about someone she had just met, but she felt still so drawn to him too. as if she'd known him already. "do you want to talk about it?" she asked. she liked to think that she was a good person to have around in a crisis, or at least even to talk to if you might need someone. "i might be a good person to go over things with. i've been told i can be a good listener."

“ i think i'm scared, i don't know why. ” peter admits softly, rubbing both of his hands together slowly, attempting to ground himself. everything in mystic was too quiet, too docile. it was an uneasy feeling, being somewhere where he could be normal. somewhere he could feel normal, and he can't. it's almost impossible to feel normal after everything peter has been through. “ i'm losing my mind, but i think i'll be alright. ”

angela hated mystic, but she had to make the most of it. she had michael vincent. and having a baby with her made it real, this wasn't just some place where she could pretend like things could be something else. or she could put everything on hold. this was life and it was moving forward without her. but she needed to do something while she was here. at least she knew that she needed to get everything fixated for herself and michael vincent to the best of her ability, and even brennan -- even if her best friend refused to do anything about their current positions. "it is nice," angela admitted. but it was hard for her to adjust to it as well. angela didn't know what to do for anyone, but she had to be the glue for everyone. "but it's weird, too. it's not something i'm used to anymore. sure, back at home i still do art for fun and in my free time. but i'm so used to doing actual work for my job."
∿ 𝅄 ˚ brennan was not fond of mystic whatsoever . she was comfortable with voicing her lack of interest in the town as well , especially since she mostly kept to herself and spoke to angela . she didn't trust the other people who walked around . there was no way of knowing what kind of people they were , so she remained vigilant . she knew it was on her to protect herself , angela and michael vincent . none of their people were there , and the fact that they were alone was frightening . she tried to maintain a brave face , though . she didn't want to be perceived as weak or emotional . brennan nodded in agreement , a soft sigh escaping her lips . “ have you been keeping busy with michael vincent and art ? ” she asked . “ i'm sure it must be at least a little nice for you to be able to do what you originally loved doing . . . right ? ”

elphaba wondered what it was like for everyone else, at least she used to. she had spent hours wondering how people could just fit in effortlessly wherever they went. her green skin was like a beacon calling to her, calling her out when she went places. she looked back at him and shook her head, "i just wonder how we wound up here." and she didn't know if she meant so much as physically in this place but also here with everything between the two of them as well.
fiyero kept his gaze locked on elphaba. they were both lost in this new world ; but he always seemed to find a way to blend in quickly. he liked to think himself adaptable , quick to put on a facade to appease the audience around him. however , he knew she wasn't the same. he couldn't help but wonder if still felt like an outcast , even here ; perhaps even more than usual. he wanted to know what was going through that head of hers , as he always did. ❝ what are you thinking about ? ❞ he asked immediately after she stopped herself. he hoped she knew she never needed to hold back , not with him. ❝ go on ... i wanna know. ❞

roger nodded his head at his wife's question. a house. he had seen something that felt so perfect for the two of them, he had stopped and just been in there for so long that he felt like they could have lived there. but this was just so different. they didn't live in a big place by any means. they lived modestly, and he was happy, he had his wife, and their dogs. and everything was going fine for the two of them. ..right? "it has a backyard. and a nice porch. and there's enough rooms for us to do our own things with. i could have a real music room." he said with a smile. "but it's still small, it's not like some of those mansions you see around here."
∿ 𝅄 ˚ presently , she was curled up on their couch , wrapped in a blanket with a mug of tea between her hands in an attempt to stay warm . she smiled slightly as she listened to roger , nodding along to his words . “ a house ? ” she questioned , intrigued . she'd always dreamed of living in a larger home one day , it just hadn't happened for them yet . it wasn't a dream anita had any intentions of letting go of , though . “ tell me more about the house . ” she wondered if it'd be affordable for them , first of all . that was the biggest concern at the front of her mind .
