I remember weeks before the ceremony. I and all the vendors knew there was a chance of rain that day of Elmer and Rumee's wedding. We talked about a Plan B of doing it inside one of the ballrooms. Yes! That was the safe version. Elmer mentioned to me the whole reason they booked this venue was for the view, nature, and ambiance of the garden. We'd go back and forth looking at weather apps debating should we or should we not. It was like looking at the stock market as prices go up and down. Well, in the end, it did rain. Soon after, everyone walked inside and we continued the night with drinks and more drinks. That's right! Late post from my Sunday wandering in Pasadena: I visited St. Andrew church for the first time and felt transported to Italy. Later, I found out that one of the oldest in LA County, built in 1927, this church was modeled after the Basilica of St. Sabina in Rome. No wonder.

Another first. Attended the Floatfest today, a chance to get close to the Rose Parade floats, ask questions, take pictures, and examine the details. The quantities of flowers alone are astounding! An art form that may not be done to this degree and scale anywhere else. And it all starts again in a couple of weeks for next year’s floats. Today was cloudy, chilly, and rainy in #NewJersey. So here is a bright and sunny memory from 2015 when I visited the Gamble House in Pasadena, #California. It was designed by Charles Sumner Greene and Henry Mather Greene of the architectural firm Greene and Greene. It was constructed 1908 - 1909 as a winter home for David B. Gamble of the Procter & Gamble Company. It is considered an Arts and Crafts masterpiece, featuring a strong traditional Japanese influence. Inside the house, it was built using multiple kinds of wood; teak, maple, oak, Port Orford cedar, and mahogany. In 1966, heirs Cecil and Louise Gamble turned the house over to the city of Pasadena in a joint agreement with the University of Southern California School of Architecture. We followed this adventure with a nice meal at Urban Plates on Lake in Pasadena. It was a great meal choice and we continue catching up and enjoying a great meal. Lisa had the braised beef, mash potatoes, rust bread and a side of grilled Brussel Sprouts. I had the Asian Chicken Salad, Roasted Carrots and beats with a side of Brussel Sprouts. There was two lovely beers involved with our dining experience. I hope this post COVID fun can safely continue.
