It was high afternoon when school was released at U.A High. Which meant the sun was beating down on everyone, but it wasn't as hot as the past few months, which you were grateful for.

You were walking out of the courtyard and into the parking lot with your best (and only) friend, Jiro. She twiddled her thumbs as you two strut across empty parking spaces. She always had an earbud in her ear; the only way you would catch her without one was if she were dead. You two shared a lot of female music artists in common, which is what initially brought you two together. That and her incredible sense in style that you ogle over.

You were content with the silence you both had while walking until a bright red car pulled up next to you, almost blocking your way to the driver's side of your car. Kaminari stopped you dead in your tracks.

"Hey. Your little Rambo look is out, (Y/N)." Kaminari looked as dumb as ever in his position. His hair falling in his face as had one hand on the steering wheel of the car. "Didn't you read last month's Cosmo?"

"Run along." You rolled your eyes, flicking your wrist at him to move forward. He shook his head, rolling away in his loud, obnoxious car in defeat.

As you and Jiro got in the car you couldn't help but think how much of a prude you had to be to get Kaminari to leave you alone. The boy has been dick riding you ever since the ninth grade. You were seniors now. It was starting to get embarrassing on his part.

After you buckled your seatbelt, you looked forward, only to see Kaminari talking to your sister. If only you could listen in on what they were saying—you doubt it was any good, but you wanted to protect Mina from any scum at all costs.

"Oh, boy." You sighed seeing Mina and her friend, Ochako, step into the back seat of Kaminari's car. They sped off. Your grip on the steering wheel tightened at the sight.

"That's a charming new development." Jiro sneered. She shared your hatred for Kaminari; just another reason why she's your friend.

"It's disgusting." You seethed. You turned the key in the ignition, starting your car. You started to drive forward from the parking space, but was stopped by some idiot on a bike. You stuck your head out the window, shouting at the boy, "Remove head from sphincter, then drive!"

He shakily nodded, moving out of your line of sight. The engine roared as you pressed on the gas pedal. You couldn't wait to get home, excited to start a new book you'd recently picked up.

"Do you actually think your sister is going to start going out with that guy?" Jiro asked, watching you drive into her neighborhood, which was close to the school. She never asked for a ride to school, but it was an afterschool ritual for you and her to drive home together.

A snort escaped from your perfectly plump and soft lips, "Yeah, right. Over my dad's dead body."

"Your old man is so strict."

"He's an idealist." You allowed your arm to fall out the window, resting it against the car door as you drove down Jiro's street. The houses in her neighborhood all looked the same, lacking any sense of character. You stopped the car, waving to your friend as she shut the door.

Jiro waved back, slinging her book bag over her left shoulder. She shot you a dampened smile, "Same time tomorrow?"

"As always." You put the car in drive, doing a U turn in the court. You retraced your steps and turned right, venturing closer toward your own house.

You sat in the living room, on a chair which faced the beautiful blue sky in your backyard. The birds occasional chirp was your background noise. You found yourself at peace after a long day at school; only sinking further into the comfortable cushioned chair after each word your eyes scanned. You were on page 54 of 'A Room of One's Own' by Virginia Woolf.

"Hello, (Y/N). Make anyone cry today?" Your father asked, flipping through envelopes and letters of mail after entering through the front door.

"Sadly, no. But it's only 4:30." You looked up from your book to your dear, old dad, smiling to remind him what a pain he raised. You went back to reading before he could respond, trying to wrap up the chapter you were on before calling it a day. With the amount you read, you were surprised you weren't cross-eyed.

"Hi, Dad!" Mina popped, clinging onto your dad's arm. Her fluffy hair bouncing with each step she took. Your sister's style was one of a kind, ahead of its time if you will. Her pink, girly outfits paired with her ditzy attitude had any guy on their knees for her.

"Hello, precious." Your father replied, still gawking at the mail in front of him. Mina kissed your dad on the cheek as a greeting.

"And where have you been?" You paused on the page you were currently reading, closing your book. You wanted to catch your sister off guard���get her to admit to her wrong doings.

"Nowhere." She raised her brows at you.

"Hey, what's this? It says Sarah Lawrence." Your dad was too wrapped up in reading the mail that he ignored you and Mina.

He was surprised when he heard you gasp. As soon as you heard that name, you snatched the letter from your father's clutches. Your excitement was too much to contain, you had to stand up as you ripped open the envelope. A black booklet fell into your hands.

"I got in!" You giggled excitedly, pacing the room until you landed on your stomach on the sofa.

"Uh, honey, that's great, but isn't Sarah Lawrence in a whole other continent?" Your dad followed you, watching from behind as you read the booklet. Mina curiously watched from the sidelines.

"Thus the basis of its appeal." You loved your family, but you hated staying in one place. You wanted to go out and explore the world for yourself and be the one to decide what's best for you.

"I thought we decided you were going to stay here and go to school at Kyushu like me." Your brows furrowed, closing the booklet as you sat in an upright position.

You maintained eye contact with your father as you sternly spoke. "No, you decided."

"Oh, okay, so what, you just pick up and leave, is that it?" He shook his head with disappointment, his duchenne smile dropping to a monotonous line.

"Let's hope so." Mina chimed, swaying her body aside to side with her hands intertwined together behind her back. Her flowy dress following wherever she went.

You took a deep breath, maintaining your composure, "Ask Mina who drove her home."

"(Y/N), don't change the—" Your dad pointed his index finger toward you, until it clicked in his mind what you said. His brows raised as the words spewing from your mouth, as he turned to your sister who looked guilty as ever, "Drove? Who drove you home?"

"Now, don't get upset, Dad, but there's this boy..." Mina did the classic wide eyes and pouting lip as your father stared her down, hands on his hips as he did so.

"Who's a flaming imbecile. Just thought that should be brought up." You added, sarcastically smiling as you popped the 'p' at the end.

Your dad's view changed to you, "Please—"

Mina interrupted your father, making direct eye contact with you as she spoke. She was more concerned with getting under your skin than seeking your father's approval of the boy—which he shouldn't appease to at all. "And I think he might ask me—"

"Please. I think I know what he's going to ask you." His hands shot for Mina's arms, trying to get her to look at him. She awkwardly stood, instantly regretting her say in the conversation. Your dad raised his voice, wagging his finger in Mina's face, "And I think I know the answer...No. It's always no."

He spun Mina around for her to take a seat next to you on the couch. She let out a heavy sigh in defeat as she crossed her arms and legs. Mina looked in every direction except your own.

"What are the two house rules? Number one, no dating till you graduate. Number two, no dating till you graduate. That's it!"

"Dad, that's so unfair." Mina shook her head side to side, refusing to accept the truth that she wouldn't the able to go out with the dunce face.

"All right, you want to know what's unfair? This goes for you too." He pointed his finger at you, who leaned into the cushions of the couch, soaking in the comfort they had to offer. He knelt to your eye level. Your father inhaled before going on about a life lesson, "This morning I delivered a set of twins to a 15-year-old girl. Do you know what she said to me?"

"I'm a crack whore who should have made my skeezy boyfriend wear a condom?"

Your dad let out a satisfied smile at your sister's guess, shaking biscuits head in disapproval, "Close, but no. She said "I should have listened to my father.""

"She did not!" Mina slammed her fist into the couch cushions, finding it hard to believe the "nonsense" your father spat.

"Well, that's what she would have said if she wasn't so doped up." He shrugged his shoulders.

"Can we focus on me for a second, please? I am the only girl in school who's not dating." A frustrated Mina asked, using her hands to emphasize her point of view. You could understand where she was coming from, but you also thought the idea of teenage social life was overrated.

Your father's face contorted to one of near laughter, until he pointed at your figure lounging lazily on the couch. "Oh, no you're not. Your sister doesn't date."

Your head turned to your sister next to you, proudly stating, "And I don't intend to."

"And why is that again?" Your dad asked, trying really hard to nail his point into Mina's brain. She was starting to get pouty and you knew that usually meant she was ready to burst into tears out of frustration.

"Have you seen the unwashed miscreants that go to that school?" You couldn't stress enough how many boys at your school wouldn't stand a chance in society outside of high school because that's where they thrive. The boys lived off of dirt, uncleanliness and beer.

"Where did you come from? Planet Loser?" Mina cranked her head to look at you, finding it hard to believe that you two were actually related. You couldn't bring yourself to believe it either. You wanted to get a DNA test as soon as possible. Her scrunched nose and furrowed brows said it all. She was pissed and puzzled about how you've managed to survive this long as apart of the public without going into cardiac arrest.

"As opposed to Planet Look At Me, Look At Me." You mocked, sneering as you did so. Your dad's voice filled the room after your comeback, you both shot him a look.

"Okay, here's how we solve this one. Old rule out. New rule, Mina can date—" He paused, giving Mina the hope to fulfill her teenage dreams. The your father's finger pointed at you, "when she does."

He turned away from you both on the couch, giving Mina the opportunity to stand up and run after him, "But she's a mutant! What if she never dates?"

"Then you'll never date. Oh, I like that." Your dad's head whipped back to see your sister standing while you remained comfy in the couch's cushions. "And I'll get to sleep at night. The deep slumber of a father whose daughters aren't out being impregnated."

The conversation was interrupted when your father's cell phone begun ringing. A tone that was all too familiar to you—he was being called into work. He took out his phone, glancing at the caller ID before his eyes wandered back over to you.

"We'll talk about Sarah Lawrence later."

Your eyes circled to the back of your head, "Fine."

You passed by your sister, paying no mind to her pleads to modify the new rule. She knew you would never date, which angered her even more.

She wandered after your father, "Wait! Dad!"

He picked up his suitcase with one foot already out the door. He quickly stated before shutting the door, "Gotta go."

You kept reading the booklet Sarah Lawrence sent you as you walked up the stairs. You were barely half way when Mina decided to shout at you, "Can't you just find some blind, deaf loser to take you to the movies so I can have one date?"

You turned on your heel, facing Mina who was standing on the first step with her arms crossed and a scowl across her features. You weren't sure if your dad made the best move to leave you alone with Mina—even if someone's life depended on it. He may get a call from a neighbor saying how two young women got into a cat fight in the front lawn.

"I'm sorry. Looks like you'll just have to miss out on the witty repartee of Denki "Eat Me" Kaminari." You used your fingers to make air quotes, allowing your hands to fall back to your sides as you stared at your sister in disgust. You couldn't believe she wanted to go out with that jackass when she had much better options.

She scoffed, turning around to walk away, "You suck."

You rolled your eyes, mimicking Mina's voice as you repeated her hateful words, "You suck."

Brenner’s Changing Bloodstains and The Moving Bodies During NINA: Is There A Version of the Massacre that El Did Commit?

I’ve posted about it Brenner’s changing bloodstains during NINA before here and here, but I wanted to talk today about how his bloodstains AND the moving/changing bodies in the rainbow room change, and how those two things are linked.

And I also talked about the moving bodies during NINA here, here and here (and here’s the full post list), incase you’re not sure what I’m talking about

So, we see this brenner, who has blood across both sides of his face:

And he’s shown with this dead body (who is now an adult with his eyes not gouged out, just closed and bleeding, see this post for the comparison of how his body changes throughout the massacre):

Like, here’s what the fully gouged out eyes look like in comparison:

But then we get this Brenner, who only has blood on one side of his face (see how there’s no blood on his screen right cheek?):

We get a closeup & we don’t get to see the room or what bodies are around this Brenner at ALL during this scene, but we DO see them in another scene, which I’ll come back to later.

And what’s interesting to me is that as I mentioned, the dead body that we see when the first Brenner comes in the room just has his eyes closed & bleeding, just like how Connie and the other agents died in S1:

Connie and the other agents still had their eyes- El was just telekinetically squeezing their brains so hard that their eyes started to bleed. Unlike Vecna, who gouges out the eyes/explodes the eyes. It’s two different styles of killing. Which is interesting, because Owens specifically draws attention to 001’s style of killing- and also, interestingly enough, the implies that the version of the bodies/massacre that Owens may have seen back in 1979 would’ve had Vecna-style gouged out eyes. But we don’t know if he really saw the bodies or just saw some pictures or if he saw Virginia’s body or what point of reference for the eyes made him realize that the killings were done by 001:

And part of me wonders if that version of the massacre with the first brenner/the brenner who only has blood on one side of his face/the one where the eyes arent gouged out is a version of the massacre that El did commit. After all, the style of killing is exactly the same as El’s, with the bleeding but not gouged out eyes and the lack of broken bones on that body.

And again, the Brenner who asks “what have you done,” is not the same Brenner, and the camera angle that we get is a.) very closeup but also b.) very tall. Taller than El for sure. But the perfect height to be Henry… Especially considering that NINA is supposed to be based on memories and camera footage, and this definitely isn’t camera footage, so then whose memory is it?

But also, remember how I said that we DO see the bodies with the second Brenner during another scene? Yeah, it’s during a non-NINA scene, it’s during the S4 EP1 sequence of Brenner on the day of the massacre.

But bizarrely enough, IS exactly the same shot as what El supposedly saw during NINA (which is what the shot below is, that's from El's nina sequence) (and I’m working on a full analysis of all those closeup body shots)- why the hell was El seeing Brenner’s memories?

And this Brenner, from NINA? The scene of a Brenner, with blood on both sides of his face? walking into the room like this? It doesn’t happen at all during that S4 EP1 sequence.

And where this gets even MORE interesting is when we look at the bodies.

See 002 here during Brenner’s S4 EP1 sequence? And how he’s posed?

Okay, so then why is his pose AND his body shape/size COMPLETELY different during the NINA massacre scenes? Even the little red blocks im front of him disappear, and his legs are much smaller and less bruised during Brenner’s S4 EP1 sequence, and his arm completely changes positions AND there’s NO BLOOD on the chair in Brenner’s S4 EP1 memories.

And see the other kid laying on the ground and how they’re posed?

Yeah, they’re ALSO different in El’s NINA memories vs Brenner’s S4 EP1 memories- the position of the body stays the same this time (even though it does move around/change during other shots/memories), but EL’S position relative to the body changes & the position of furniture changes:

My Garden Flowers Part 1

Just thought I'd give you all the garden tour. :) I will update when I get more photos. This is of course not counting any of my ferns or conifers as they don't flower. I might do a series of foliage posts, though. All photos mine, unedited.

In order of appearance:

001. Canada Plum (Prunus nigra) Not pictured as she hasn't flowered yet. I have her in a shady spot and she's fairly slow-growing but healthy.

002. Yellow Monkeyflower (Mimulus guttata) An annual that sadly doesn't seem to have reseeded despite flowering profusely last year. But maybe next year! That happens sometimes.

003. Boreal Yarrow (Achillea millefolia borealis) The place where she is is north-facing so she doesn't get quite as much sun as she'd like, so she can get a bit leggy but she still flowers so it's fine.

004. Canada Goldenrod (Solidago canadensis) Not pictured as I haven't got any pictures yet, but I will if she flowers this year. I actually had to move her because she had planted herself in a not ideal location in my garden. Which is fine because I wanted one anyway.

005. Vierhapper's Aster (Aster alpinus vierhapperi) This was supposed to be Canada goldenrod, but it's okay because Canada goldenrod planted herself. I relocated her to the intended spot and they get along fine together. Asters and goldenrods generally do. :)

006. Common Sunflower (Helianthus annuus) I did not plant this! Must have been given to me by a bird or squirrel. Sadly she didn't reseed. Oh well, she's a cultivar and I did get the wild type. Interesting to me that she actually flowered in that area when her cousin stubbornly refuses to.

007. Obedient Plant (Physostegia virginiana) This refers to the fact you can move the flowers around, not to the behaviour of the plant, which is very aggressive.

008. Black Chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa) Not pictured as she hasn't flowered yet.

009. Enchanter's Nightshade (Circaea lutetiana) I didn't plant her; she just started coming up everywhere when I removed the grass. She is not a nightshade. I've learned that even people interested in planting natives regard her as a weed. I disagree. She's not aggressive to other plants and she's pretty.

010. Northern Gooseberry (Ribes oxyacanthoides) Not pictured as she hasn't flowered yet.

011. New Jersey Tea (Ceanothus americanus) Haven't tried her for tea yet, but she's a lovely little bush.

012. Sunchokes (Helianthus tuberosa) Aforementioned cousin of the common sunflower. Not pictured as she keeps making her flowerbuds too late in fall so the frost gets them before they can open.

013. Potato Bean (Apios americana) Not pictured as she hasn't flowered yet.

014. Common Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca) SUPER fragrant, especially in the evening. This is an aggressive plant but worth it for the flowers, the fragrance, and the butterflies they attract. Not to mention the young shoots, flower clusters, young leaves, and young seedpods are all edible if cooked properly!

015. Northern Bayberry (Myrica pennsylvanica) Not pictured as she hasn't flowered yet. Her leaves are nice and evergreen, though.

016. Virginia Strawberry (Fragaria virginiana) Also known as "wild strawberry", but so is her cousin. She flowers reliably every spring but no strawberries yet. The flowers themselves are edible but I keep hoping she'll make strawberries. lol

017. Nannyberry (Viburnum lentago) Not pictured as she hasn't flowered yet.

018. Riverbank Grape (Vitis riparia) Not the greatest picture, but the point is I will get grapes one of these years!

019. False Sunflower (Heliopsis helianthoides) It was hard to pick a favourite photo. They're really quite stunning. She blooms from July until the frosts of October. :)

020. Canadian Serviceberry (Amelanchier canadensis) Not pictured as she hasn't flowered yet. She's a wee little tree in the shade for now.

021. New England Aster (Symphyotrichum novae-angliae) Probably the most attractive of the Symphyotrichum asters, to be honest. The flowers are more compact than most of her relatives while still being a decent size, and the colour is much more saturated too. And the bees absolutely love her. But that doesn't stop me enjoying other asters!

022. Common Elder (Sambucus canadensis) She almost died when I potted her for the move. See I dug up as much of her taproot as I could, but she'd already gone quite deep and I had to break it. But she lived! She's quite big now and has these wonderful lacy white elderflowers every year, with elderberries to follow.

023. Coralberry (Symphoricarpos orbiculata) Not pictured as I didn't get any pictures yet. Should have when I first got her. She was in flower then. She hasn't since.

024. Black Raspberry (Rubus occidentalis) Not pictured as I don't have pictures yet. Don't know why. lol I've taken pictures of the berries. I'll remember next year.

025. Fox Geranium (Geranium robertianum) A true geranium I managed to trade for last year. You mostly find these in the woods and now I have her in my garden.

026-027. Common Hops male and female flowers (Humulus lupulus) I can't remember which is which, but yeah! I could flavour beer if I was a brewer. :)

028. American Spikenard (Aralia racemosa) Another one with lacy little white flowers, and it looks like some of them are going to fruit!

029. Silverweed (Argentina anserina) After several failed attempts, this one has finally taken off. Truly lives up to her name in the spring and has these nice yellow flowers later on.

030. Hoary Vervain (Verbena stricta) The name must refer to the leaves, which are kind of blue-grayish, because the flowers are just a nice purple.

Okok my mans Brenner has a flair for the dramatic but like. For him to be talking like this, not only does he have to have seen Henry kill, he’d have had to study him in the aftermath. Now. We already know Henry murdered his mom (tho there’s some sus af stuff regarding Alice Creel & her “death” that leaves that one up in the air), & most likely wanted to kill his dad & sis, too. But for brenner to be saying this stuff about abilities, memories—less memories, more ABILITIES.

Because Henry could’ve gotten Virginia’s memories. Virginia knew Brenner—it would be easy enough for Brenner to catch on to Henry knowing things ab Virginia & Brenner’s convos that he shouldn’t. But ABILITIES. What abilities could Henry have gained from his mom that Brenner would be talking about? Was Henry abruptly really good at styling his hair like a 50s housewife? (Not likely—unless the shaving-childrens’-heads-trend didn’t catch on ‘til later). Maybe Virginia was a really good juggler?

I have a point, I swear, stay with me. Obviously Brenner COULD’VE been talking about Virginia. But it seems more likely that Henry killed someone else during his time at the lab—BEFORE the Hawkins massacre. Remember the soteria? We know that, immeditaly after killing his family, Henry was weak. His powers were weak. A lot like El after she banished Henry—using excess power, an abrupt drop in power, power needs to be built up… except El lost her memories, while Henry didn’t, and memories are important for channeling power.

Brenner has seen the cycle of regaining power before—it’s probably why he was so confidant he could restore el’s powers by restoring her memories, if he knew memories triggered power (from Henry). Because it was Henry (as 001) remembering something that made him sad, and angry, that allowed him to channel his power. (I need to rewatch some scenes to construct a timeline, because I think there’s a possibility Henry was referring to discovering his powers BEFORE the lab, though a slim one, when he was talking to young El & suggesting she use the memory of her mother being dragged away to channel her power. I don’t think that’s the case, but I wanna rule that possibility out).

We also know that something made it so that Henry was too dangerous to be allowed his power—he had to be given soteria. There’s an argument to be made for Henry being made to kill people by Brenner, used as an assassin the way Sullivan said Brenner wanted to use El (“remote assassination”), but that as Henry murdered those people he gained skills (fighting skills) & intel (from their memories).

But what if it wasn’t a regular person’s regular skills? What if it was someone with powers? Basically—the Hawkins Massacre not being the first time Henry absorbed someone’s powers. & that being the trigger for Henry being given soteria.

(At first I misremembered this scene as Brenner saying he absorbs their POWERS, and I got REALLY excited, but the point still stands. That’s why you gotta rewatch scenes & cite your sources, kids!)

There could be something interesting related to Alice Creel in this—the other sibling being “sensitive” and having powers like her brother (perhaps on a smaller scale, like 002), maybe she survives her brother’s first murder attempt but not the second—

(Seriously check out posts on why alice’s death is so sus idk how to link posts but like. Holy shit).

I imagine this power working like this: the brain is basically a bunch of electrical impulses, kind of? Like, that’s how we store memories, skills, etc. So Henry mimicke those impulses, those electrical patterns, in his own brain, and can interfere with other peoples’ electrical impulses—hence how he messed with Will’s memories, “stole” El’s powers at the end of season 3 (and perhaps even her powers and memories way back after the massacre when she was like 8, and perhaps messed with WILL’S powers in season 1/2, but i’m not sold on that yet). Brenner had it right when he said it was similar to the effects of a stroke—just a targeted, controlled, Henry-induced kind. The connections are all still there.

Then again, Henry’s abrupt loss of power after overextending himself does mirror el’s when she was a child, so perhaps he didn’t mess with her powers then. But it feels likely that he did in season 3… that it wasn’t just because of exhaustion/overextension, it was because of the parasite in her leg. Idk. We’ll see ig, i’m attached to this interpretation atm tho.

OKAY I finally found the original post about Angela being Jane Ives and an alternate timeline El so I'm gonna link it here then go over some key points on both sides!

most of the against points are based on the original post by the lovely @/henrysglock, who is definitely the reason I'm considering every angle on this! but a couple are just me.

[This is also within Timeline Theory, there's a few different blogs about this which I'll gladly link if anyone stumbles upon this and needs catching up]

AGAINST:

Angela doesn't have any specific references to timelines, clocks, alternate universes, etc. tied with her that I know of except that she wears a watch, like so many characters do anyways. honestly the fact Angela isn't coated to hell and back in multiverse imagery should count as line, three reasons, because everyone ends relevant is SO heavily coded.

Yes the watch is her inverse version of the timememoryfuckery Sara hairband, but this could simply be to indicate the presence of timememoryfuckery with Sara in the first place.

There are other things her presence could narratively suggest, including foreshadowing for mothergate via Sleepaway Camp [I hope I got that right?] [Side note the fact Edward and El BOTH had to pretend to be someone and that fakeness is represented by Angela for them both is sO juicy]

Literally what is she doing in California if she's a number???

Does she have psionic sensitivity passed down from Terry and if so how did she not recognize El for what she is? (and vice versa- though that can be explained by El's lack of powers)

The reason El and Angela have visual parallels is because El was copying Angela, and the reason they're opposites is because El can never truly become normal like Angela or her Jane persona.

There's little backstory for Angela. it's very clear there is something she is afraid of/something going on that motivates her, but what is it?

She parallels 002 visually, not exactly a point for or against, but sus as fuck.

Her behavior also resembles 002. She wants to scapegoat El and be the teachers favorite kid just like 002- but what is Angela afraid of? Where did she learn this behavior? every other antagonist has a very clear reason for acting like they do EXCEPT HER. We don't even know who called the police on El for her!

Visual parallels between El and Angela, but Angela is the opposite version because she's from a different timeline!

Why make Angela's outfits parallel Karen and Virginia of she isn't a Creel? [based on the Karen is Virginia theory via @/aemiron-main]

Angela is fixated on Hopper, which I just personally think is giving lab-kid.

Her name is ANGELA for fuck's sake!! Angels in ST have a positive connotation, with Mike being banned after one, with Max singing about one to El (foreshadowing El helping her live) and Victor saying an angel saved him, so WHY would Angela be named that unless there's more to find out? I speculate that this is in relation to Terry's locked-in syndrome, since she asked for Jane to come home, but it could also be in reference to El being an 'angel' via Max.

The whole point of having multiple versions of Henry/Edward is the themes of how a similarly situated person can become a totally different person based on circumstance, how the world/the pressures of society wants to squash people, and those stresses turn out different people, rather than them inherently being one thing from the get-go. in the case of Henward, every version of them has thus been shrouded in mystery, but Angela is super clearly there existing so the show could use her as a very clear/consise easy of initially delivering that theme along with peeling back several hundred layers of henward bullshit. what could hammer home the "nobody is inherently evil or fundamentally good" theme than showing everyone a universally hated girlbitch with a kill count of zero and a rage-and-sorrow filled mostergirl with the soul of a puppy and the personality of a saint and forcing them both to face how similar they really are? I phrased this super badly but basically they're built to prove a point and it would be so badass if the writers pulled this off.

I honestly give this theory a 50/50 chance since it isn't a specific plotline or lore, but rather a possibility within a likely lore theory, if that makes sense. Like if ANY variation of Angela being Terry's daughter or a lab kid or an alt El or anything similar would count to me, I'm just looking at many possibilities that I think coexist. The one thing I know for sure is that she's more important than she's letting on, so more than anything I'm open to the theory changing if I find out another compelling reason why Angela is important. I am super curious because I think her and El's relationship as foils is sO fascinating as well as having more potential.

Vecna/001 is the big bad. He is the final boss. That is very clear. He’s committed atrocities beyond true human comprehension. He’s likely to die, and tbh his death would be a kindness for everyone involved. They’ve all suffered more than enough…including him.

Henry Creel was not the villain…until he was made into Vecna/001.

That is what drives me insane!! and like i know you’re able to tell when I’m joking or not so this who spiel isn’t aimed at you anon but i just. apologists are annoying! I’m not forgiving him for crimes he’s committed though. I’m saying many of these ‘crimes’ never existed at all, and many of the ones that do were things that children tend to do as cries for help.

The catch is that Henry and Vecna/001 are fundamentally different people. Vecna did not exist until after the 1979 massacre. Henry doesn’t display Vecna-like behavior with El until after the absorption shit.

“Oh he was manipulating her” Well he was doing a shit job of it! His behavior, if manipulative, was missing perfect opportunities to get what he wants without any gambles…repeatedly. He just…never asks for anything in return. Even when he could in multiple places without raising suspicions. Especially then.

And even if we want to claim he’s a psychopath…they’re either genetic or created. Either Virginia was also a psychopath, or whatever happened to Henry as a child was bad enough to drive him to psychopathy.

Even so, he displays empathy, sympathy, and compassion during NINA…even when no one is watching him and/or there is no personal gain (002’s torture scene, the “it’s time you are free from this hell” scene, the scene where they run from the boiler room and he makes a point to take El with him). That’s…not psychopath behavior. Psychopath behavior would be getting El to take Soteria out and then killing her for her abilities while she’s still off-guard.

Henry Creel had a chance at a happy ending, pre-absorption. Vecna/001 has like…a 2% chance of a happy ending, and I don’t even think he should get one. He’s likely to die, and that fits with the story/fits with what he’s done post-1979. I am okay with this, this would be a good/well-written ending to me, even if Henry makes me sad.

I’m not an apologist, I just want to attribute blame where blame is due rather than pinning everything on a 12 year old.

Cassandra's purpose was always to become a spy. Her parents, both CIA agents, sent their two daughters to an ultra-secret CIA experiment when they were just kids. They spent their entire childhood in a top-secret laboratory, growing up hidden from the rest of the world. The only two kids in the program, Cassandra & Mina were respectively experiments 001 and 002. The program aimed to create "super spies". They were meant to stay there until they would be old enough to join the ranks of the CIA, but their parents' death (while on a mission) accelerated the process. Cassandra was offered the position at barely 18, in exchange for "freedom". She accepted; but made a deal so that Mina would be spared from her duties, and be allowed to live a normal teenager's life. The two girls were placed in a little house in Virginia, and Mina got to enter middle school at 13. Meanwhile, Cassandra started working while raising her little sister. They both have a tattoo on the back of their neck with their respective experiment numbers. Some of their physical enhancements include: eye enhancement, strength enhancement, speed enhancement, and abnormal pain tolerance. Cassandra's specialty is firearms, and she is a deadly sniper.

Random script thoughts

Hopefully this posts won't end up too long. Just want to see how they describe certain things.

I'd hoped they would describe the landscape more but they don't much. Once again, they only focus on the Wheeler house just like in the show. No mention of other structures and in the show, we see no other structures. Just the Wheeler house. "Spores" comes up again too.

This is the part I wanted to get to. Interesting, the whole bit about Nancy looking at her diary and noticing it was the day Will went missing and El closed the gate is not here. She looks at her room and some pictures and that's how she knows its in the past. I wonder if they intended to leave it more ambiguous? I wonder why they decided to make it SUPER obvious that it was the day Will went missing and El opened the gate.

Curious.

Aha. I remember having this discussion with @jancys-blue-bayou once upon a time I think. The script specifically mentions the "shimmering distortion" is indeed only visible because of their light. Still not explanation on how Will could manipulate/see the lights and alphabet wall from the Upside Down, but the script points out that they can ONLY see it because of that flashlight.

I didn't mention it earlier, but 002 is referred to as 004 in this script.

Max is the best

Too lazy to pull up the scene, but in the show it looked like only 1 light was flickering. At least in the script they're trying to maintain some consistency. Something on the other side WILL affect the lights even on the bikes. Just like Will in season 1.

In the show itself, they call it "soteria" if I remember right. Here they just call it an "inhibitor". That phrasing... "sewn into the neck". If there really is something up with Will and his neck because of Vecna, did he also "sew" something into Will's neck? Metaphorically?

So that hug wasn't planned or something. Lol

... Huh? "this is a crude early version of psychic surgery". Um, has there been psychic surgery at some other point in time??? I mean, I guess El did psychic CPR on Max but that is HARDLY surgery. Interesting!

A piece of dialogue left out. He doesn't mention his mother possibly knowing, but he does for his dad. Originally. There's no mention of Virginia figuring him out and calling a doctor (Brenner) to help.

This seems to imply even in the season we got, Virginia didn't contact Brenner. She might've contacted a regular old doctor to help Henry. Or at least, she thought she was and was lied to or something.

I think this part clears up some misconceptions about El and the other kids. They obviously aren't all byproducts of Henry, but Brenner was on a lookout for all the special kids. Waiting for them to be born and discovered.

So confirmed, this was all an intentional callback to season 1.

When they originally released part 1, he was being hit by red lightning. Now if you watch it again, they have sense edited it and it's now yellow lightning. The entire red hellscape is now a yellow hellscape.

Moving Them Like Pieces On A Chessboard: More Chessboard Imagery With The Creel Murders

So, I’ve already talked about this idea/Brenner preplanning the Creel murders a few times, but the chessboard imagery with the creels continues to make me insane considering what Henward says to El during NINA about Brenner getting 002 and his gang to try and murder El by moving 002 and co like pieces on a chessboard:

Because look at this. Not only do we have the literal chessboard at the Creel house:

But we also have the chessboard pattern/checkered cabinet right under the radio right as Virginia dies:

Plus Virginia’s checkered shirt in the same shot:

Not to mention Alice’s name & all of the Alice in Wonderland references & the chess from Alice in Wonderland and the line from White Rabbit about chess:

A line that, in S1, plays over a shot of Connie (right before the “Alice” line that plays over her), and with Connie being a lab agent (and again both the chessboard line and the Alice line play over connie):

And when we look further at the symbolism of the chessboard in Alice in Wonderland, the chessboard was meant to symbolize the idea of fate being predetermined/planned (there’s a lot more to it but here’s a basic snippet from google saying the same thing so that it’s clear I’m not just making stuff up LMAO):

Which, again, ties into the idea that Brenner was pre-planning/pre-meditating the Creel murders.

Plus the fact that HNL operates under the guise of “Hawkins Power and Light,” and Henward looked confused when the lights and radio started flickering, implying it wasn’t him doing it.

Plus all of the other evidence (such as this post) that implies that Brenner/HNL was present at the Creel house the night of the murders.

Brenner was moving them around like pieces on a chessboard.

Which makes this line about everything going according to plan & how that line contradicts with Henward’s previous more spur of the moment attitude towards the murders even more interesting:

Especially considering the POV of the shot of Victor’s arrest and how tall it is- Brenner height, even.

Something else that’s interesting to me too, is that Brenner never wears plaid. We see every single member of the Creel family in some sort of checkers/plaid (and Henward actually wears the most plaid out of all of them- Henward’s shown in two different plaid outfits during the Victor retelling sequence and four different plaid outfits during Nancy’s Creel sequence):

But Brenner? Never. At least not that I can find at going through all his scenes, but let me know if I’m missing something. And it’s because Brenner’s not a pawn on the board- he’s the one playing the game/moving them around.

Hell, orderly Henward is also dressed in all white.

Which is interesting because A.) during the chess scene in Alice in Wonderland (ok technically the chess scene in Through The Looking Glass), Alice begins as one of the White Queen’s pawns/as a white pawn and B.) we have the white knight from Alice in wonderland, who saves Alice from the Red Knight.

El’s NINA suit is also all-white compared to her previous grey upright tank sensory suit- again, Brenner is playing with both her and Henward as pawns during NINA.

Okay I get that the familial reverence's allude to the eventual revalation that El and Mike are cousins via Edward&Virginia Creel, but "Will you be like my brother?" Fucking. It Messes With Me, Bro.

Like I get that El was excited to have a brother again like Henry and, well, not 002, but the little ones probably. BUT

It would be too easy to match on to El's want for normalcy and have Mike say "Living with us, you'll have a real family," and El say "I will get to be like Eleanor for real? We can be cousins?" Or some shit like that for them to use the sibling line. I def think their bond is more siblings-like, but if this line paired with the Swedish Cousin Trap refer to the other mind of evidence that they're cousins specifically by blood, why the fUCk is it phrased like that???

Okay, so I'm guessing you haven't read any of the behavioral or contextual analyses my friends and I have done for Henry.

That's fine, I'll summarize: Every scene of Henry that people use to justify saying he tortures and kills with no regret are conveniently debunked by the show itself, theories about timelines aside. The rabbit? Caught in a snare, but its actual body was found around the front of the house, far from where Henry was supposedly torturing and killing it (which, mind you, he was doing with an expression more disturbed than fascinated) and in a killing style that does not match Henry's. Rabbits in snares are good for what? Baiting wildcats. Which was something Victor brings up in his talk with Nancy. It's more likely that he was trying to free it and hurt it in the process, a pattern of behavior we see over and over again with him. Alice? It's not physically possible for him to have killed her. She's still alive when Victor goes into his trance, but she's dead when he comes out of it. Nancy's plan against Vecna hinges on him being unable to attack while he has someone else in a trance. Thus, if Alice was alive when he tranced Victor, then he physically could not have killed her. That means there must be a third party involved. Virginia? I can't say whether or not he's actually responsible for her death based on what I just said about Alice. And even if he did? She was going to send him to Martin. Brenner. You know, Mister "Kidnaps And Psychologically Tortures Children As His Nine-To-Five"? And even if we take canon at face value, which we absolutely cannot based on concertedly fluctuating set, costume, and makeup designs, it's said in his monologue that he felt he had no choice but to take action for his own safety. Virginia is also represented in her "I held up a mirror to show them who they really were" vision by spiders. You know, the godlike predators per the description in the monologue?

We don't even know the full circumstances surrounding the massacre. The show so conveniently neglects to show us footage of him (if that is, indeed, him) before his final kill. We don't know what happened between him leaving El and her finding him in the rainbow room.

As for whatever was "wrong" with him, it was obvious enough for teachers, doctors, and his peers to pick up on...but not enough to make Victor dislike him. Henry was not able to put on that facade and convince people he was "normal", but his father still liked him and described him as sensitive. Why would Victor like his son, let alone describe him as sensitive, if whatever was wrong with him had him being a remorseless killer?

Henry displays empathy and sympathy in 002's torture scene, having just been similarly tortured himself. His reaction is not being viewed by anyone but the audience. Not El, not Brenner. Just us. It's genuine, and its cut with the other numbers quite literally bawling.

There's also the matter of Soteria, in which he's either incredibly stupid, or he's lacking in ulterior motives. Who bets their own freedom on an 8 year old being mature enough to turn around and go "Hey, wait, what about you?" No one who's invested in escaping and has more than one functioning brain cell. He doesn't even mention it until El asks him about it unprompted. I've said this a million times, but it would be like taking candy from a baby to have her take it out. A simple "I want to help you, but I need you to help me first" would have done it, and it would have ensured success. So again: He's either incredibly stupid, or he's lacking ulterior motives.

Looking at Billy: Instead of punching up (like Jonathan does by supporting and being gentle with Will despite Lonnie's abuse), Billy punches down. Consistently so, and often gleefully. See: the time he tries to kill the Party with his car, the way he manhandles Lucas, a 13 year old boy, for even being near Max...simply because Lucas is black. Max has to nearly castrate Billy just to get him to leave her alone. Even in Season 3, he picks on kids at the city pool remorselessly despite being far older than them. See: the lard-ass scene. He also puts on convincing facades to get what he wants. See: Karen Wheeler in Season 2, and the suave facade he puts on to find out where Max is...the facade that promptly drops off as soon as he's out of view. Billy's one redeeming act is his own death, a last-ditch rebellion against the Mindflayer.

There's also the fact that we get an extremely disjointed and cherrypicked version of Henry's backstory, one that we're being told after twenty-plus years in MKUltra, a psychological torture program designed to erase memories and convince victims they are the worst versions of themselves via physical, mental, emotional, and sexual abuse. We barely know anything about his family dynamic. He doesn't have a single line. But we know things were bad with Virginia even before he was sent to the lab. That is what The First Shadow even exists for. It wouldn't exist if it wasn't designed to contradict the surface read of Henry that most viewers take away at first glance. You don't make a whole stage play solely to beat what is supposedly a dead horse.

Meanwhile (since we're talking about him), Billy's remorseless cruelty is shown repeatedly and consistently to us with zero outside fuckery from Hawkins lab, right up until his possession in Season 3.

No one said Billy wasn't abused. No one said his life wasn't incredibly hard, or that he didn't deserve better growing up. He absolutely deserved better, and you'll never catch me saying his behavior wasn't entirely avoidable. But you can't tell me he doesn't meet the standards for conduct disorder far better than Henry ever did, just based on his behavior and the context surrounding it.

This, of course, is not even touching on any of the narrative-contradicting set details (such as consistently disappearing and reappearing impact craters during the massacre, which would have taken both time and money to create altered duplicates of), costume details (they made at least FOUR different versions of the bloody massacre jumpsuit. Again, time and money. They chose to do this), makeup details (El's eye blood pattern completely swapping from when she's her teen self in NINA versus her child self in NINA, despite BTS pictures of Martie and Millie in MATCHING blood patterns, patterns we NEVER see on little El). It's also not touching on the entirety of the newspaper debacle, which outlines an entirely different timeline with a boy named Edward Creel, or the fact that Victor's retelling is physically impossible. The Dear Billy script says they moved in in March of 1959, and Victor said they had a month of peace, but the murders occur before March is even over. It's not. physically. possible.

The truth is? People rarely look deeper than the surface for Henry, and it shows. But even based on a surface-level reading? He does not meet the standards for conduct disorder as a child, nor does he meet the standards for ASPD as an adult. My point stands, and this is all I plan to say on the topic.

𝐇𝐔𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐑 𝐆𝐀𝐌𝐄𝐒 𝐀𝐔

Born in District 3 with two victors as parents, Cassandra was likely to be reaped, just like her little sister Mina. It was at least what motivated their parents to experiment on them. So they would win. After years of unregulated experiments, Cassandra and Mina had Inhuman strength and speed, as well as an uncanny good eyesight. Cassandra was almost off the hook, but at 17, she was reaped. Unfortunately, the secret was quickly out. Her unnatural skills at the training center tipped off the Capitol's gamemakers, and while Cassandra was sent to the arena, her parents were executed for treason. Mina was sent to the Capitol's labs to be tested and examined, and after a swift and implacable victory, Cassandra was sent there as well. But because the Games need a victor, the two Miller sisters were released a week after Cassandra's victory. They were allowed back in D3, but are under heavy surveillance from the Capitol. Cassandra became a dedicated mentor, trying her best to help her tributes survive while raising her little sister all on her own in the victor village.

𝐘𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐎𝐖𝐉𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐄𝐓𝐒 𝐀𝐔

1996 was really not Cassandra's year. After losing both her parents on Christmas Eve and having to raise her 13-year-old sister on her own, what seemed like good news (her soccer team going to nationals!) turned into a nightmare when the plane crashed into the Canadian wilderness. To Cassandra, dying there was not an option. She had to get back home, she had to survive, she had to return to Mina, her little sister. Her authoritarian nature came in handy at first, unlike more girls she was used to having 'adult' responsibilities. But as the rest of the team fell slowly but surely into an obsessive worship of the wilderness, Cassandra's skepticism created a shift between her and the group. She couldn't believe in what the other girls believed, perhaps because admitting THIS would mean admitting that her parents' death hadn't been perfectly "normal" either. While the winter stretched out, starving the girls, even Cassandra had to pick survival above all else.

𝐒𝐏𝐘 𝐀𝐔 . 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐑𝐀

Cassandra's purpose was always to become a spy. Her parents, both CIA agents, sent their two daughters to an ultra-secret CIA experiment when they were just kids. They spent their entire childhood in a top-secret laboratory, growing up hidden from the rest of the world. The only two kids in the program, Cassandra & Mina were respectively experiments 001 and 002. The program aimed to create "super spies". They were meant to stay there until they would be old enough to join the ranks of the CIA, but their parents' death (while on a mission) accelerated the process. Cassandra was offered the position at barely 18, in exchange for "freedom". She accepted; but made a deal so that Mina would be spared from her duties, and be allowed to live a normal teenager's life. The two girls were placed in a little house in Virginia, and Mina got to enter middle school at 13. Meanwhile, Cassandra started working while raising her little sister. They both have a tattoo on the back of their neck with their respective experiment numbers. Some of their physical enhancements include: eye enhancement, strength enhancement, speed enhancement, and abnormal pain tolerance. Cassandra's specialty is firearms, and she is a deadly sniper.
