You make a noise of frustration, leaning back into your chair and tossing your brush into the palette beside your canvas. It bounces once before the tip sticks in the thick oily violet color youâd been trying to perfect, while the wooden handle of the paintbrush rolls into the other various shades of violet youâd been trying to blend from memory.
None of them are right.
Youâll never admit it â least of all to Rhysand should you ever see him again â but he has the most intriguing eyes youâve ever seen. Sure, youâve seen pretty greens and blues and caramel browns, vast arrays of colorful irisâ throughout your life, but never that striking violet that Rhys has.
You cross your arms over your chest as you stare at the painting of his eyes youâve been attempting since youâve gotten home from your trip to the supply store where youâd met the cheeky man. You havenât been able to get them off of your mind, so you did the only thing that would normally help you move on from something so interesting; paint it.
But the purple you mixed doesnât look like lightning streaking across the night sky. What youâve painted looks more like a bushel of grapes ready to be crushed and made into wine. Itâs all off. Youâve used nearly the entire tube of the dioxazine color youâd bought trying to blend the perfect shade, but to no avail.
You bite your cheek, looking down at your arm. Youâd scrubbed tirelessly at the thick black numbers Rhysand had scribbled on your skin in haste, but even if you hadnât immediately plugged his number into your phone as soon as you set your bag of art supplies down, you have it memorized anyway. It had been the only way to get him away from you, although there was something about his incessant flirting and cheeky attitude that had you intrigued. And the fact that heâs drop dead gorgeous.
You canât help but wonder what he and his friends were spray painting and where. Was it on the side of the commons building with their address and time for the party? Or maybe some random run down building off campus somewhere? Did he paint an admission of his fondness towards the girl heâd known for only a few minutes? He did say that he would paint something pretty for you.
Groaning, you throw your head in your hands. You should stop thinking about him. You donât want to be, but thereâs something about Rhys that you just canât get out of your head. And itâs not only the color of his eyes.
Your arm has barely stopped tingling and your stomach has had butterflies running rampant since heâd grabbed your arm to write his number down. His hand was large and warm wrapped around your wrist, and it was calloused in all of the right places. His smirk had made your heart stutter in your chest and after seeing that silly tattoo you found yourself wanting to rid him of his shirt to admire the other ink you saw sprawling up his tan arms.
Rhys seems like the kind of guy who even has tattoos framing hisâ
âFuck,â you breathe, reaching for your phone thatâs playing music softly by your side. Your cheeks are hot with a blush and youâre thankful that no oneâs around to see it. Paint smears on the screen as you try to unlock it, a vibrant purple that makes you want to cringe. Itâs nowhere near the color youâre looking for, and you swipe your phone against your pants, quickly removing the paint and pulling open a new text thread before you lose your nerve.
Itâs (Y/N). Whereâs that party you were talking about earlier?
Simple. Straight to the point. You hit send.
Thereâs a fleeting thought that maybe you should delete it, but your phone is already buzzing with response.
Changed your mind already, (Y/N) Darling? That didnât take long.
You huff, even though youâd been expecting something as much from Rhysand.
Changed my mind. Have a nice night. Try not to get the police called on you.
Awe, youâre worried about me?
Address? So I can be the one to call the police on you.
You can picture that smile curling his lips in a feline smirk. Maybe heâs even laughing. A good look for him, one that has you biting your lip and on the edge of your stool as you wait for a response. The three dots appear quickly as he shoots off his reply.
2054 Velaris Circle. I can assure you that no uninvited police will be there.

âI was beginning to think that you werenât coming,â Rhys smirks, and gods, does he look amazing in that black t-shirt and jeans to match, leaning up against the doorframe like that. His arms are crossed over his chest, the pose accentuating his muscles.
You swallow, holding his gaze. His violet eyes are intense and the air around you is charged as he dares you to check him out.
You donât give into the urge to drag your eyes down his body, instead taking in his handsome face. The wicked curve of his mouth and his sleek black hair is mused in the perfect way. You notice the stars in his eyes the longer you stare, and all of sudden you know that youâre no longer here just to memorize that color for your painting.Â
You need to memorize all of him.
âI was deciding whether or not I wanted to actually show up,â you respond with a lie, shrugging as if you havenât just come to this jarring realization.
Rhys doesnât look like he believes you, so he says, âWell, Iâm glad you could find the time to join me.â
Not join the party, not join us, but him.
âI have artistsâ block and nothing better to do anyway, so here I am,â you offer lamely but he smiles nonetheless.Â
He hums in a noncommittal way and shifts to the side, gesturing you into the house with a wave.
You duck inside and Rhysâ hand falls lightly to your back to usher you deeper into his home. You can feel his fingertips burning through the thin fabric of your shirt, heating your bones. The touch of him against you helps as you maneuver through the mass of drunken strangers, the music loud in your ears.
If you thought the outside was tremendous, the inside is even more so. Itâs a large house, bigger than you would assume a struggling art student to be able to afford, even with multiple roommates. He must come from some sort of money or in fact be a very successful artist to call this extravagant, modern space his home.
The crowd parts around you as Rhys guides you through the foyer. Girls take you in with their hazy glares, assessing, while the boys clap Rhys on the shoulder with passing greetings, cheers, and dibs to be his partner in the next round of beer pong.
âWowâŚyouâre quite the social butterfly,â you comment as you pass by two boys who are handing out shots of amber liquid to passersby. Both of their copper hair stands out even under the low lighting, and you gasp, jumping backward as the younger one shoves a glass into your hand as the older one flicks his lighter, setting the liquid on fire with a brazen grin.
Rhysands warm hands find your hips as you startle, settling you as he continues forward to press up into your backside in protection. He sends a glare that you miss over your head towards the pyromaniacs that have somehow squirreled their way into another one of his parties.
âWhat the fuck?â you squeak, careful not to let any of the drink slosh over the sides of the glass.
âItâs alright, Darling,â Rhysâ deep tone sends shivers rumbling up your spine, drawing your attention away from the flaming drink in your hand. Your cheeks heat as your focus is pulled to the hard lines of his body pressed tightly against yours, his fingers pressing into your waist with confidence. You feel as though youâve already taken the shot of alcohol.
Rhys reaches over your shoulder to take the drink from your hands. He keeps it held in front of you, as far away from your body as he can reach. Your hands fall to grasp the sides of his legs as he places a palm over the entirety of the glass, your breath hitching in your throat as he stifles its flame.
Your nails dig into the meat of his thighs through the thick denim and his breathing falters as he thinks about those nails all over his body, dragging across his tanned skin while you writhe and whimper beneath him.Â
You feel his breathing deepen and his cock press into your hind. You bite your lip to stifle the noise of pleasure creeping up your throat.
You want this.
You want him.
Your entire façade you had walking into his party is gone, singed away from the sure way heâs holding you tightly to his body. You can feel every muscle as he moves, every breath he takes, his broad chest pushing you forward and the arm around your waist pulling you back, lulling you into him further. Youâre a fucking goner.
Once the flame is smothered, he uses that hand to grab your chin, tilting your head back all the way until you meet his violet gaze.
His eyes are burning the color of the hottest flames, licking you up as he forces your jaw open, his thumb and middle fingers pinching your cheeks. It isnât painful but his touch isnât light and the feeling goes straight to your core, molten for him.
âGood girl,â he murmurs softly, focusing fully on you as he brings the shot to your mouth and dumps the liquid in.Â
You choke a little as you force the cinnamon liquor down and the sound makes him bite his lip and his cock jump with need. You canât help but arch against him a little, grinding into him as he thinks about what kinds of sounds youâd make if his cock was being shoved down your throat instead of just the fiery alcohol.
âYo! Get a room,â a high pitched voice startles you. Rhysâ grip around your neck tightens in reflex but falls to your side when your attention is ripped apart to the girl passing by with a wicked grin on her cadmium red lips.
Sheâs gorgeous, clad in a skimpy dress and killer heels, her blonde hair bouncing around her in perfect waves as she approaches. You swallow your nervousness, beginning to shift away from Rhys because surely heâll want her attention.
But Rhysand only scowls at the girl, his hand on your hip sliding across your waist to keep you pinned to his front. âYouâre one to talk, Morrigan. I think Emerie is waiting in the guest room already.â
Her laugh is a song of its own and she doesnât take the time to stop like you thought that she would, she only continues deeper into the party where the music gets louder and the air gets hotter.Â
You raise your eyebrow at Rhys and he grins sheepishly. âThat was my nosey cousin, Mor.â
You nod in understanding as he begins leading you through the room again with a final scowl over his shoulders at the two brothers with matching shit-eating grins covering their freckled lined faces.Â
When the crowd parts and you finally catch sight of where Rhys is taking you and you halt in your tracks.
Thereâs a table of sorts set up, a few ring lights brightening up the space in the corner of the room. You recognize the two boys. Thereâs a gloriously tanned man laying on the table, shirtless with the waistband of his pants tugged down to expose his hips. Heâs grinning down at something that the artist mutters. His toned body is littered with tattoos like Rhysâ, though you canât make them out from where youâre standing. He huffs a laugh when the dark haired boy with the tattoo gun in his hand pauses and glares up at him, settling flat on his back from where heâd been curled up, trying to get a look at the progress of his new tattoo.
The artist looks similar as he hunches over the other manâs waist once more. Broad shoulders beneath a starkly onyx shirt. The fringe of his hair hangs between the two men, looking silky soft in the harsh lights. Heâs concentrating hard, attentive golden eyes and steady hands covered with sterile gloves. More permanent art across his body, you notice a tattoo of a falling angel on his bicep. Whatever itâs reaching up towards disappears beneath the sleeve of his shirt.
Your stomach rolls with nervousness. Surely Rhys hadnât been serious when heâd mentioned you getting a tattoo of his phone number outside of the art shop.
You rub your hand over the mark heâd left subconsciously.Â
âIsnât that illegal?â you blurt, grimacing as you stare at the man as he pauses to wipe stray ink away from the other manâs cut hips.
âHaving fun? No.â
You tear your gaze away from the sight to glare up at him.
âThatâs not what I meant.â
Rhysâ laughter rings above the heavy bass of the music and his hand presses more firmly against your back, urging you forward. Your spine tightens pleasurably at the pressure.Â
âLoosen up. What does it matter, if itâs consensual?â
You suppose he has a point. The area looks clean enough and the boy giving the tattoos looks as professional as any, but you will not be hopping up on that table tonight.
Not that you canât be convinced.
âTheyâre my roommates,â Rhys explains as he ushers you by. The one lying on the table gives Rhys a shit eating grin. He looks like heâs about to say something but the other boy mutters a threat that you canât hear over the loud bass of the music, but the way the other scoffs and deflates tells you enough.
You nod in response, and he continues, leaning down so you can hear him better. His breath is hot against your skin and it causes shivers to prickle up your spine, your fingers twisting together with nervousness as he leads you towards the hall. âThe one on the table is Cassian, and the one giving him that awful tattoo I told him not to get is Azriel.â
That catches your interest. âAwful tattoo?â you ask, following Rhys as he shoves his way into a room you can only assume is his own. âWhat is he getting?â
The lights cut on, dim so that you can see but it doesnât ruin the mood. Rhys slips the door shut and thereâs a click of the lock that's drowned out by the party outside. You find yourself not caring what tattoo Cassian is getting as you take in the sight of his large room. Itâs something out of a dream, sleek and pristine and attuned to Rhysand very aesthetically. Thereâs stacks of art history books littering his large desk on one side, his sleek laptop shut on top, and the other side is filled with a mess of charcoals, pencils, and paper from the art shop.
You wonder what heâs drawing over there.
Rhys tuts disapprovingly, âYou do not want to know, Darling.â
You canât help but grin at him as he comes up behind where youâre standing to wrap himself around you. Itâs nice, more than, and while you swore you were only coming here to peek at his eyes again to reference in your painting, you find yourself wanting to get him out of his clothes, see all of him, so your work of just his eyes can turn into a full body picture.
âOh, but now I really do want to know,â you giggle, latching onto his forearm where itâs splayed across your shoulders. You turn in his arms and Rhys lets you lead him backwards towards the bed as you guess. âIs it leaves or wings? Or, donât tell me! Itâs totally someone's name, right? He seems like the type.â
Rhysand dips his head down to press against yours. Your breath hitches at his close proximity and your cheeky thoughts wander into something more serious, your grip tightening on him as the backs of his legs hit the bed.
âOh, Darling,â he breathes, nipping at your lip. Itâs quick and playful and you find yourself wanting to chase him for more. âItâs so much worse than that. I told him not to get it.â
Rhysâ grip tightens around your waist as he falls backwards and you land on top of his rock hard chest with a squeal. Your hips are tucked tightly to his and when you move to settle more properly, he grunts at you.
You canât help yourself, reaching up to brush a stray strand of hair from his forehead as you respond, âYeah? Worse than a drugged-out Mickey Mouse?â
He grins and your heart stutters. That is something youâll have no trouble painting later because it is forever etched into your mind now.
Rhys pokes your sides and you squirm against him in retaliation. He chokes on his laugh and those violet eyes darken with lust at your movements. You can feel just how much youâre affecting him.
âHeâs getting âin case I forget later: thank youâ tattooed across his hips, Darling.â
Your mouth falls open in shock before youâre bursting out into uncontrollable laughter. You canât help yourself and Mother help the poor girls who see it, but that is a heinous crime and Rhysand doesnât even look like heâs joking.
âPlease tell me thatâs not true,â you ask when you calm down a little, cheeks burning from your smile. You quite like the way that Rhysandâs dioxazine eyes shine at you.
He shrugs under you, âSaid he wanted to match with me.â
âStop.â
He lifts a brow, daring. âWhy donât you take a look for yourself?â
And with those words the silliness eddies from your body. Instead, itâs replaced with a charged sort of silence, his breathing deepening as your pupils dilate for him. His hands around your hips move slowly, warm palms curving over the round of your ass before pulling your hips tighter into him. You gasp, circling them a little, reveling in the hardness pressed up against you and his guttural groan.
When you move to slide down his body he licks his lips, carefully watching your fingers fumble with the button of his pants. You keep your eyes off of his cock where itâs straining against the fabric, but your mouth waters a little knowing that heâs as ready for this as you are. You wonder if heâs spent all day thinking about you like you have him, and you fight the urge to go flip through those drawings on his desk to see if heâs been sketching you too.Â
Youâre eager, shoving his shirt up his chest to reveal the deep cut of his hip bones, tanned and not an ounce of ink in sight.
You purse your lips, glaring up at him playfully.Â
âYou lied to me.â
His stare is hungry, the sight of you before his cock makes him ache more, and that poutâŚhe hopes he lasts.
âMaybe someday, Darling,â his voice is raspy with desire that makes your cunt clench. Until that day, youâll leave your own marks on his hips.
You act on the urge, leaning closer to lick and nip at the smooth skin. Your eyes donât leave his and you swear he shudders as you suck as many marks into the area as you can. When you shift to lap at the other side you let your breasts drag across the bulge in his pants, nipples tightening at the feeling.Â
Rhysâ head falls back on his shoulders as he releases a shaky exhale, âDarling.â
You ignore him in favor of tugging at the waistband of his briefs, aching to see that picturesque cock and add it to the painting youâre building in your mind.Â
He gets the hint quickly, grabbing your arms and pulling you up his body for a burning kiss.
Before you even have a chance to sink into it heâs rolling you off of him. A protest pushes at your lips but heâs lifting himself to pull at the jeans youâve already started getting off, and youâre frozen at the sight as his bottoms hit the floor and his cock springs up, thick and hard and perfect in every way. You swallow at the sight of it.
Your heart races in your chest as he climbs back onto the bed, wasting no time in helping you with your own clothes, attaching himself to your lips as his hands begin to wander everywhere. Yours slip into his silky hair and you moan into the kiss, shuddering as the cool air of his room coats your naked body until his warm one is pressing harshly against yours, his filled cock sliding through the folds of your slick cunt.
There is no foreplay. You donât need it with how wet you are, how eager for him you are. The both of you touch and tug at each other desperately, like you havenât thought of anything else all day except for this moment, and neither of you are willing to waste it. With the way that heâs kissing you, fingers sliding across your body to shift you into the positions he wants, you know that there will be more time for you to explore later.
You are the perfect canvas for his kisses, reacting beautifully to his every move.
The party is still in its height, music thrumming so loudly that the walls shake with it. You donât care though, all caught up in Rhysand.
The pounding of the base fizzles out as his cock slides in, in, into your hot cunt, swallowing the length like the good girl he knows you are. You whimper with pleasure. Itâs almost too much, how big he is, how warm he is, it feels like you can feel him in your throat.
âFuck, Darling. Just like Iâd imagined itâd be.â
You arch at his words. Youâre pressed so tightly together you think his tattoos might rub off on you. The thought makes you shiver. Youâd love to be marked by him in a way that will last longer than the bruises his fingertips and lips are leaving.
You feel like sliding out from under him and onto that leather table set up in the other room, requesting a tattoo from the quiet man giving them. Or just have him come in here and do it while youâre sitting on Rhysands cock.
âHey, whereâd you go?â Rhys whispers against your lips, drawing you away from your wandering thoughts. A soft kiss, a tease, and then another.
You surge up from the pillow and kiss him when he pulls away. Your fingers twist into his hair to hold him against you and in return his hips cant downwards into your own. He moans into your mouth. He tastes amazing and the heat of his lips against yours goes straight to your core. The swirl of his tongue is one you hope heâll recreate against your clit later.
âIf you could give me a tattoo, what would you give me?â you ask breathlessly, desperately as he impales you with his cock, nails scraping down his back as he pushes into you even further. His large hands hold your waist and when you arch your spine in pleasure his eyes glow.
He stares down at you for a moment, violet gaze drinking in the swell of your lips, the mess your hair has become as he ruts into you. Your beauty is everlasting, and your words drive him deeper into you with a feral groan. His words slip from his mouth in pleasure, âMy name.â
You canât help the loud, erotic moan that escapes at his admission.
âFuck. Yeah, youâd like that, wouldnât you?â Rhys growls, pressing his body flush against yours to pin you to the bed. He likes the feel of you under him, writhing against his chest with his cock shoved deep into your soaking wet cunt. He sucks a lewd kiss to the underside of your jaw, making his way towards your ear.
The pendant of his necklace is like ice against your hot skin and you whimper in pleasure at the feeling, praying that the medallion will be indented into your skin from how tightly the two of you are molded together.
His voice is low, breath hot as he hums, âWant to have my name on you, yeah? Right where everyone can see, pretty girl?â His calloused fingers trail up your sides, stopping at your breasts to play with them. He circles your nipple with his finger, cock twitching at the thought of you branded with his name across your skin. âOr would you want it somewhere else? A secret for just you and me?â
You canât help it, chest heaving against his. His words are incredibly erotic, and they drive you towards your edge, eyes rolling back into your skull at the thought. Rhys hisses with satisfaction when your cunt clenches around him in response.
He has such a sinful way with his lips, nipping and biting and kissing in all of the right spots. You feel like a Goddess being worshiped by her loyal acolyte. The wetness of his mouth leaves a trail of pleasure down your skin, the cold air of his room licking at it in the best way.
Rhysand teases your breasts as he fucks into you, massaging one with a warm hand and the other with his mouth, rolling your nipple between his teeth and brushing his tongue over it. You pull at his hair and a hiss escapes your lips at the sting.
Your touch scalds him in the best way and he canât help but to buck into you as your nails scape down his tanned skin again, pleading for everything he can give you.
He will give you it all.
Rhys takes extra care of you, reveling in the sounds youâre making for him. He doesnât care that heâs hosting a party outside of this door, doesnât care if someone comes near enough to hear your desperate pleas for him to go faster, to continue rubbing his fingers against your clit, to let you ride him. He almost wants someone to hear how heâs making you feel, making you scream.
Finally, his hand trails down to where his hips are jackknifing into your cunt at a steady pace. He leans back, staring down at where your bodies meet, your glistening cunt in the light washing into the room from the dimmed lights. He licks his lips, vowing to taste you after this.
His light touch makes you gasp and buck up, fingers treading softly over your clit, drawing you closer and closer to the edge of your orgasm, that hot feeling coiling in your gut.
Rhysandâs thumb presses hot against your clit as his cock buries into you so deeply you see stars for a moment. You clench your legs together instinctively but heâs already there, keeping them spread wide with his own thick thighs as he quickens his pace.
âRhys,â you cry, hands fisting into the sheets as he works you towards your pleasure, âPlease. Please!â
âPlease what?â he grunts. He canât look away from your perfect cunt, the way it swallows his cock up, taking him so greedily. âCâmon, Darling, gotta use your words.â
You press your head back into the pillow, mouth slack in ecstasy. The sight makes his cock twitch, makes him want to shove it right between your perfectly âoâ shaped lips, feel the tightness of your throat wrapped around him as he cums.
âPlease, donât stop,â you choke, letting yourself fall into utter bliss.
Rhys doesnât stop. He keeps working you through your orgasm until heâs cumming right there with you, hot and pulsing into your throbbing cunt.
He collapses next to you, pulling you in tightly to his chest as if youâre already too far apart from him. Rhys presses his forehead against yours, eyes squeezed tightly shut. His chest heaves as he tries to catch his breath, panting across your cheeks with every exhale he takes.
âRhys?â you ask when youâve settled into your afterglow, his fingers playing with your hair mindlessly.
He hasnât let you go since, hardly long enough for him to clean you up and let you use the restroom, and then you were climbing right back into his soft bed, nestling into his warm embrace.
He hums languidly, utterly at peace with you here, even though the party is still in full effect outside. Thereâs muffled cheering about a keg stand and wolfish laughter rattles the house but even then, it feels like itâs just you and him alone in your own little world. âWhat?â
âWhat did you tag on the building earlier?â Your eyes slip shut and the question comes out shy.
He presses a kiss to your forehead, cheeks, and finally a slow kiss to your mouth, his tongue coaxing you deeper into his arms.
âI tagged it with a violet rose.â
âA violet rose? Whyâs that?â
Heâs silent for so long that you think maybe heâs fallen asleep, cracking one eye open to see, but heâs staring down at you with soft eyes and red cheeks. He swallows harshly and for a moment youâre afraid that heâs not going to explain, that youâll have to look it up after he falls asleep.
âDarling, a violet rose represents love at first sight.â

Hi hello, I love your art so much LIKE MY BROTHER. IT'S SO YUMMY, THE SHADOWS THE EXPRESSIONS, I love how you draw Timur , Felwinter and Osiris together đ little bird with his two funky adoptive parents. I stare at your art like , I'm always ready and hyped to give traditional art another try â¨
If I was to go back, any tips for which watercolours to pick? I so far got only aniline colours.
Aah, thank you so much!! đłđ
Hmmm, the thing is, I use fountain pen inks almost always for painting. I don't use watercolour much, so I can't really suggest anything in particular⌠I have a selection of colours from different brands, of course, I know quite a lot about pigments, and I like using watercolour from time to time to add some special effects to my works. For sketching outdoors it's also the easiest to use among all other paints, probably. But painting a whole artwork with itâŚâŚâŚ I try doing it sometimes, but every single time I end up thinking "God, I wish I used inks instead, I hate this so much, why is it so BLEURGH". I guess watercolour just isn't my medium đÂ
I can share my thinking process when building up a palette though, I use it with all mixable mediums I use, be it inks, watercolour, gouache, etc. I found it to be the most effective (and money-saving, lol) approach for me.
So what I want for my main mixing palette is to have 3 sets of primary trios. All colours also must be as smooth as possible, with no surprises or unwanted colour separation. For watercolour - not granulating ones.
(my camera tends to make all colours brighter and also fails to see the subtle difference between some shades, but you can still get the idea)
The first trio is extremely vivid, consisting of bright cool colours - lemon yellow, cyan, magenta-leaning pink. It gives you access to all the bright, open colours.
Second is the classic they teach in all art schools (probably, from what I've heard, I never went into one alkjdshfk) - sunshine yellow, bright warm red and ultramarine blue. This gives you a huge selection of warmer, natural colours, like all shades of golds, eggplant purples, olive greens, etc. It also allows some nice selection of wood browns.
Third is my personal favorite, the muted trio. You kinda can get similar colours from the previous trio, but I prefer having these separately, because of how often I use them all. It consists of golden ochre-leaning yellow, dark bloody red and dark indanthrone blue. It gives you the most beautiful browns, beiges, blacks and other rich, deep colours.
On top of that I also like to have at least one decent black (in my case it's Quink Black ink, I cannot live without it). And these 10 would be my essentials. Other colours I add to my mixing palette are basically shortcuts to the shades I find myself mixing the most - like a few browns and violets. There are also a few inks that I need for some very specific purposes - like, I have a very vivid cold magenta ink to mix a certain bright cold shade of the Void, and also a fluorescent orange for adding shiny Exo LED lights. And etc.
(Actually I'm currently in the process of re-organizing my main palette and also considering making a few small sets for painting some characters specifically)
I also have a separate selection of chromatographic inks, which can probably be compared to granulating watercolours⌠But not quite. A few examples:
Here I don't have any special notes or advices, just get the ink you like and enjoy it. Some of these I use so often that I always keep them in my main palette, and others I only get out for some special occasion. These are also mixable btw - I constantly add other ink in Quink Black to get different shades of it.
However, I must say that not all of the ~special effects~ inks are polite and well-behaved, some will agree to work only on some specific paper after a significant amount of coaxing, and others will straight out say "fuck you" at the most crucial moment, even if they worked perfectly just a moment ago.
Btw, when working with inks, I really recommend to put it into smaller bottles with a dropper, so you don't have to open the big bottle each time. It's both easier to use for you and much safer for inks!Â
ANYWAY, I hope this post was of some use for you đ

Luis Royo watercolour sketch "Sailing at night under the stars and the full moon" - a lonely sailboat floating on top of a huge body of water, like a Vietnamese junk. It is all alone, surrounded only by the sea, the stars and the moon above it. Torn sails, tired sailors. The light of the stars reflecting on the surface of the water - a watercolour fantasy image, mystical colours, a palette of blues, purples and violets. Watercolour sketch in blue, burgundy and silver ink with extremely thin lines and dark blue watercolour in the style of Luis Royo.

Fatal Ice (seperated)

MarĂa
Toxic Jewels (separated)
Since this is more oc based some boss fights require specific ocs to fight it because of their relationship with the other character that theyâre fighting.
Toxic Jewels & Fatal Ice are separate for a different reason because the members of the bands are separated from their female members. So, now they climb the spire of order in hopes to find them before they hit the top.

Character requirement- Jinx
Boss Fight 2

Character Requirement- Violet
Boss Fight 3

Coral Raisy
Character Requirement-Bevy & Saku
Some of these characters already had gained some of the pallets needed to beat these upcoming bosses.
It would be best for them to get upgrades as they climbed the spire
With 8 being more skilled she took bites at the rigorous stages while everyone else did the hard and normal stages.
Though the ida sisters would have to battle together for the time in forever after finding a secret boss fight
Character switch- MarĂa â> Coral
Using coral in a run unlocks a level titled âThe Floral Soldierâ as plum takes a similar appearance as 4 and heleda looking like the skeletal fish enemies
She throws out flower-based enemies, as she runs to take cover. But, they leave the spire together in his words âHe came for one thing and he got itâ
Secret Boss
âLost Parentsâ
Character Requirement- Marina & MarĂa
It seems order had taken control of their parents so, now they had to defeat them to get them back . Once freed though it was not their fault they grieve that theyâve missed so much of 8âs life

For example
Switch MarĂa â> Enzo(4)- You unlock a boss fight called âChild Starâ against a monochrome hypno shades violet with dialogue of him & pearl
Switch MarĂa â> Kamau(3)
Unlocks dialogue being confused why the captain is here along with a boss fight call âOcto Captainâ up against MarĂa
Also unlocks a little song duo between the two, which is a reprise/cover of Candy coated rocks & color pulse
Switch MarĂaâ> Callie & Marie
Unlocks fangirling dialogue from marina and a boss fight called âDouble Troubleâ against violet & 4
Switch MarĂa â> Glimmer & Shimmer (neo 3 & 3.1)
Unlocks new dialogue
Switch MarĂaâ> Deep Cut
Unlocks new dialogue & a boss fight called âOut with the old in with the newâ fight with the squid sister trio
Switch MarĂa â> Octavio
Unlocks new dialogue & a boss fight called âThe Idaâsâ between Octavio and his brother
Switch MarĂa â> Marina
Unlocks alternative dialogue & a Boss fight called âInner 8â
Bonus! using marina in a run unlocks song reprises or song covers
- Marietime memory (Reprise)
Covered by- Marina & MarĂa
-Imperfect Majesty (Side order nasty majesty remix)- covered by Violet & MarĂa
-City of color reprise covered by - violet & marĂa
Side Order Au
Secret Boss
Bleached Infinity
Location of Boss battle: A colorless Octo Valley, the place where the storymode of splatoon 1 took place.
Normally youâd be 8 but, now youâre 3 as you now play as Kamau the captain of the new new squidbeak splatoon wearing a colorless but, tweaked version of his old agent uniform but, still bared his captain hat and main weapon now tasked with the objective to take down 8 taken over by bleached coral sticking out the side of her head.
The boss battle has 5 phases against 8 with her using two of the six maxed out power chips in each phase. Which includes Power, Range, Mobility, Drone , Support & Lucky.
During the fifth phase 8 is slower since she has progressively gotten tired out trying to use different chip combinations to help. The end of the fight finally getting the coral off her face though it left a mark it was a victory.
Extra Fun Fact!- Since the boss battle takes place in the digital version of octo valley after every phase the background always changed to a different area when 8 super jumps to the boss kettle of that respective area
And when you finally defeat her it goes back to the Octo Valley. The music of the boss fight is probably like distorted remixes of the splat 1 bosses, boss music

touching grass
Green.
There are so many words for it.
When mankind aimed itself for the stars and fled from its birthplace, they left behind the lofty and airy arts and architecture that aggrandized them in favor of small, sparse, compact plastisteel and composite metals that would protect mortal flesh from the vacuum of space.
Where humanity has only just (in the grand scheme of things) begun to build skyward again, expand its arms and its spaces again, they never quite abandoned the heirlooms of language.
Evergreen. Fern. Forest. Jungle. Honeydew. Laurel. Moss. Mint. Olive. Jade. Emerald. Malachite. Viridian.
Terre Verte.
People name things in relation. They see what's important to them, and they give it a word, cementing it into memory. Even if the context from Earth to Noman's Land is vastly different, some relics remain.
Nicholas has never seen so much green in his life. His existence has been grey and black. Linen white. Surgical light white. Acid blue. The gold of sand. Rust-red, ember-red, violet-red sunset splash. Blood, gunpowder, gunmetal. Carbide and carbon, lead and brass.
And recently, new colors have entered his palette. Seafoam. Teal. Cerulean. Geranium. Newsprint. Ink-smudge.
And now this. Here.
As if answering some sort of primal call, some kind of genetic memory, Wolfwood reclines beneath a tree beneath a dome, bathed in filtered sunlight and shadow, cooled in the flow of circulating air. Roots spread over the course of a carefully-monitored century cradle grass that grows, lives, dies, nourishes the ground it graced.
And for the moment, the grass cushions his back. Hands laced behind his head, jacket folded up like a pillow, sunglasses on, Punisher elsewhere, he just...
Exists.
Drifting between waking and sleep, stealing a little time away from the uncomfortable sterility and noise of the ship-facility proper, Nicholas allows himself to relax.
However long that lasts.

[Doodle] Color pencil doodle and luminous color experiment results for invisible watermark.
Hi, everyone! I'm come back from after exam, but I have to back study for next exam while I was just get some idea for I do protected my drawings from AI art when I did draw this doodle by old color pencils.
Yep, I have a few fluorescent poster colors (I called them as "Neon colors".) and all luminous acrylic paints that I called that "Glow colors". I use them for make my wallpaper in my room but I noticed a new Meta's policy, it made me to shock and I was doing research how can I protected my work from AI art without Nightshade and Glazed programs. And also, I did just have idea that "Why didn't I use those colors for glow in dark painting and it will visible watermark in uv black light?". Thus, I did research how to do it. And I did experiment them, and here is my results when I use it for my signature. (I use new brush but it is broken )đĽšđĽšđĽš
Then, I just know that, luminous acrylic paints or glow colors can get more lights energy from UV black light too. I did UV black light by a little of transparent tape or transparent PVC sticker pad and paint blue mix violet dot by permanent marker as Sharpie on my flashlight is behind my phone, then, I did turn off all lights in my room and here results
And yesterday, I did do experiment them, this results it made me to be complacent and it works to I will do invisible ink for my signature in later đĽ°đĽ°. I knew, it might be cannot help to protect from AI art is full 100%. But in least, it can help me for prove in my confirmation when I might be go to court that some AI art supporters trying to be claimed my drawings, LOL. It might be not happen, or it isn't. It makes me comfortable that I can protect my drawings.
And here is my conclusion opinion about this.
For they are both fluorescent poster colors and luminous acrylic paints cannot mix colors in palette, you have to bought them separated bottles for your purpose or you can by glow gouache set.
For luminous acrylic paints in my painting, I will use them for some drawing that I want to show some special and fluorescent poster colors I will use them for make my invisible ink in my personal. Also, it may be I use both them for my painting.
You can do it without need to buy fluorescent poster colors or gouache by you can buy or use some highlighter pen then put out its inside and squeeze it in water until it clears then put it back in pen again, or you can buy invisible ink or invisible pen.
However, it is not meaning that guarantee that it can help protected your art from AI is 100%. And I am not a scientist student, or, original poster about protected art. Cause, I was tried use Nightshade and Glazed programs but it is not work for me. And also, I just share a little idea how to I do protect my art from AI and for my evidence when I might be have issues in the future too.
And the last, I am ok than after exam time. Because, I am so exhausted everything everything thing. But now, if I have a free time. If I allowed by my deities that I want to post about Thailand's relationship with other country, I might be post on my story in IG and Tumblr. Now, I have to rest for organize myself to be better. See y'all!â¤â¤

hi! i'm a really big fan of yours and i want to thank you so much for sharing your talent with us. i was also so pleasantly surprised when i found out you did some of the really wonderful art for juliet marillier's books? which is so insane to think about because it's like two worlds colliding! would you ever talk about how that came about?
Hi anon!
So, Juliet Marillier got in touch with me, because she'd seen some of my animal artwork, and asked if I could do a hedgehog based cover for Prickle Moon, an acclaimed and award-winning anthology of really awesome short stories, being published by Ticonderoga (whose owners I know and who are also lovely people, and who I've also been published through re: short stories), the owners of Ticonderoga gave Juliet Marillier control over who she picked for the cover art, which is very rare! She was really polite and lovely, and we organised to meet in person because she only lives about 25 minutes from me.
I went to her house and we hung out and talked about many things, I met her lovely rescue dogs (she tends to rescue small elderly dogs, and gives them so much enrichment and love and care), and I showed her some of my original sketches and thoughts re: colour schemes, she picked what she liked and I got started.
After that, the cover was approved, we did a book signing together at Swancon one year (both of us signing the same anthology, which was amazing for me, because that was my first time signing anything), and then a short time later I joined a writer's group that she was a member of, along with many other published speculative fiction authors. We were all a part of Write Club for many years, but it sadly disbanded at the beginning of 2020. Though we still have a small chat group for the core members.
Juliet Marillier is a lovely person, an amazing writer, and she's also a member of the same spiritual group I am (the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids - OBOD). You'd never guess from meeting her that she's one of the most acclaimed women fantasy writers of the last few decades, or that she's travelled the world doing book signings etc. She's very humble, wry, funny, caring, and a little shy in social settings. I feel very fortunate and humbled that I got to spend time with her, and every time I see or think of hedgehogs I will forever think of Juliet Marillier. :)
Here's the full cover. It was done entirely in ink, watercolour pencil, and coloured pencil. I gave her the original artwork once it was done.
And here's some of my original sketches that I did, that I showed her at her home (including an illustration of different monochromatic colour palettes, Juliet chose purple/violet):
So yeah!
Tbh long before I wrote fanfiction and did things the way I do them now re: writing, I was actually a professional artist and award-winning author doing quite 'Serious' writing etc. I don't work as a professional artist anymore, but I do still sell some of my art and sometimes share it here. I've done a couple of other book and magazine covers over the years, and an internal illustration for the World Fantasy Award winning She Walks in Shadows anthology edited by the amazing Silvia Moreno-Garcia.
I've had some very cool experiences through my writing and my art, but being in a writer's group with Juliet Marillier and many other very excellent writers is definitely a highlight. :D

Exploring the Depths of Meditation and Spiritual Power: A Journey Through Modern Art
In this artwork, Iâve woven together Hindu mythology, modern art techniques, and the profound symbolism of the chakras to celebrate meditationâs transformative power. The painting captures the innocence of the human form and illustrates how meditation can transcend physical limits, opening the mind to universal energy. Hereâs a behind-the-scenes look at the journey, materials, and techniques that brought this concept to life.
Concept and Vision: The Power of Meditation
The vision for this painting draws on Hindu mythology, particularly the concept of chakras, which represent energy centers within the human body. According to Hindu beliefs, each chakra holds unique powers that align our physical and spiritual selves. My goal was to portray a meditative figure, evoking an atmosphere of serenity and depth, surrounded by the radiant energy of each chakra, from the deep red of the root to the violet of the crown.
The theme extends beyond Hindu mythology. By including cultural motifs, the painting becomes a global tapestry, highlighting that meditation and spiritual energy resonate across diverse beliefs and philosophies.
Materials Used
Canvas: A stretched and textured canvas serves as the foundation, adding natural texture that resonates with the roughness and raw power of spiritual practice.
Oil Paints and Acrylics: I used a combination of oil paints and acrylics to add dimension and vibrancy. Oil paints provided the richness and depth for the chakras, while acrylics added contrast in the background, making the colors pop.
Charcoal and Ink: To create shadows and finer lines, especially for the central figure and cosmic background, I used charcoal and ink. These mediums contribute a sense of gravity and timelessness to the piece.
Palette Knives and Brush Techniques: I primarily used palette knives, focusing on their capacity to create deep, bold textures. Brushes were used sparingly to add softness around the chakras, ensuring a dynamic contrast between smooth and rough textures.
Techniques and Methods
1. Knife Work for Realism and Texture
Palette knives were instrumental in applying thick layers of oil paint, particularly on the chakras. By carefully layering colors and adjusting pressure, I could achieve a textured, almost three-dimensional look, making each chakra feel alive and vibrant. The palette knife also helped create powerful strokes that convey the flow of energy throughout the piece, symbolizing the internal journey that meditation initiates.
2. Color Gradients for the Chakras
Each chakra in Hindu mythology is associated with a color and energy. I began by painting each chakraâs base color and then blended in complementary hues with acrylics and oils to add depth. This gradient effect creates a visual hierarchy, drawing attention to the crown chakra at the top, which shines with a radiant violet glow, symbolizing spiritual enlightenment.
3. Charcoal Shadows and Ink Detailing
To create a sense of grounding and connection to the earth, I used charcoal to shade the figure and the surrounding area, adding weight and intensity. The ink brought subtle detailing, allowing for intricate linework around the meditative figure and the symbols within each chakra, connecting each element in the painting.
4. Cosmic Background with an Abstract Twist
The background is inspired by the cosmos, using an abstract approach to symbolize the limitless nature of the universe and spiritual exploration. I incorporated sweeping knife strokes and acrylic washes to create layers that mimic the galaxies and stars, reflecting the spiritual journey within.
Final Thoughts
This painting represents more than just the visual aspects of meditation; itâs a dive into the mindâs potential to surpass physical limits. By using diverse materials and techniques, I sought to convey the strength and serenity that come from a deep connection to the self and the universe. Through meditation, represented by the central figure, this piece speaks to the unity of body, mind, and spiritâa timeless theme that resonates across cultures.

What Colors Make Purple? A Deep Dive into Mixing Shades and Their Meanings
Purple is a color rich in symbolism and history, often associated with royalty, creativity, and spirituality. Its allure lies not only in its vibrant hues but also in the fascinating process of how it's created. If you've ever wondered, "What colors make purple?", youâre in for a treat! This blog will explore the science behind mixing shades of purple, along with their meanings and applications in art, design, and psychology.
Understanding Color Mixing
To answer the question, "What colors make purple?", we first need to delve into the basics of color mixing. There are two primary methods to create purple: additive mixing and subtractive mixing.
Additive Mixing: This method is used with light sources, like screens and projectors. In additive color mixing, the primary colors are red, green, and blue (RGB). By combining red and blue light, you create purple. The more red or blue light you add, the different shades of purple you can achieveâfrom a vibrant magenta to a soft lavender.
Subtractive Mixing: This approach applies to pigments, such as paints and inks, and involves the primary colors cyan, magenta, and yellow (CMY). When mixing paints, you can create purple by combining red and blue pigments. In traditional color theory, red and blue are considered primary colors, and mixing them together yields varying shades of purple, depending on the ratios of each color used.
The Shades of Purple
The beauty of purple lies in its diverse shades. Each shade carries its unique significance and can evoke different emotions:
Lavender: A light purple, often associated with tranquility, femininity, and grace. It is commonly used in design to create a calming atmosphere.
Violet: A deeper shade of purple that symbolizes spirituality, wisdom, and creativity. Violet is frequently used in artistic contexts to convey depth and introspection.
Amethyst: Named after the gemstone, this shade of purple represents luxury and sophistication. Amethyst is popular in fashion and interior design for its rich, opulent feel.
Magenta: A vibrant, eye-catching shade of purple, magenta is often associated with energy and passion. It can create a bold statement in any artistic composition.
Symbolism of Purple
Purple is often linked to various cultural and psychological meanings. Here are some common associations with this enchanting color:
Royalty and Nobility: Historically, purple dye was rare and expensive, making it a color associated with kings and queens. This connection to wealth and power still influences how purple is perceived today.
Creativity and Imagination: Purple is often seen as a color that stimulates creativity and innovation. Artists frequently use purple to inspire original thought and push boundaries.
Spirituality and Mysticism: Many cultures associate purple with spiritual awakening and higher consciousness. Itâs frequently used in religious settings to symbolize devotion and faith.
Practical Applications of Purple
Understanding "what colors make purple" and the meanings behind its various shades can enhance your creativity, whether in art, design, or everyday life. Here are some practical applications:
Interior Design: Incorporating purple into your home can create a sense of luxury and comfort. Light shades like lavender can make a space feel serene, while darker hues like royal purple can add drama and depth.
Fashion: Purple is a versatile color that can be dressed up or down. Whether you opt for a vibrant magenta dress or a subtle lilac accessory, purple can make a bold fashion statement.
Branding: Many brands use purple in their logos and marketing materials to convey creativity and sophistication. Consider incorporating purple into your brand palette to stand out and evoke the desired emotions.
Conclusion
In conclusion, purple is a captivating color that holds deep meanings and offers endless possibilities. By understanding "what colors make purple," you can experiment with different shades to express your creativity and connect with the emotions they evoke. Whether you're an artist, designer, or simply a color enthusiast, exploring the world of purple can enrich your appreciation of color and its profound impact on our lives. Read More

Golden Gaze
I try to get some ethnic diversity into my artworks, as here in my recent acrylic sketch with limited palette. This lady was drawn without reference as part of a skill test to myself. I knew I wanted to use this palette starting out - raw umber and simply "violet"; since mixing purple is honestly one of the messier things to do, I like a pre-made one that I can shift. I used palette knives for the background and probably lost track of my lighting plan a few times, partly due to working obsessively without standing up to take a look from further away without lamp glare in my eyes. Yes, my workplace needs some adjusting. For the golden spatter, paper covered the painting wile I used a mouth atomizer, spraying gold hue ink straight from the bottle. I like how the droplets become larger further away when used at an angle. My paints are Daler-Rowney system 3 plus Lukas Cryl, and Rohrer&Klingner ink. Metallic media don't scan all that well so this is more pretty in person. "Golden Gaze", A4, acrylics and ink on Yupo paper. I edited the photographs to become monochromatic with my chosen colour palette. Unfortunately when I went to print them off, the colours didn't show up as well as I had hoped.
The green/cyan one appeared much more green on a different computer screen and on the printout. The violet and magenta both weren't as vibrant as I'd intended, but that was also a limitation with the editing software and technique not just the printer. And the yellow one was more brown in places than bright yellow. All round, this round was a lot more muddy compared to the red and after discussing it with my peers we put it down to the fact these colours I chose required other coloured inks to mix them whereas the red only requires red ink which is why it looks so much better.
It is evident to me that this is the colour limitation of using digital software and a electronic printer. Very convenient, and I sort of like the alienation of technical process for concept (machine made), but not an ideal level of control. With screenprinting, I can achieve the exact effect I want with the exact colour I mix myself and judge and it's all done by hand which also has a conceptual allure. I have ultimate control. However, if I wanted to split my image into nine and screenprint each section that would require nine separate screens which at this point is not time conducive.
So the logical next step is a technique that combines these two printing techniques: risograph. I have less control over colour shade, but it a very saturated colour print like a screenprint I can do the nine sections of my image. And I love that it's a blend of machine and analogue, I think it could strike the balance that I need.
Looking at these colours and the effect though, I can't help but notice the Pop-art/ Andy Warhol reference and draw the parallel between his obsession with consumer goods and branding as icons. But if anything that completely puts me off, as pop-art is one of the most overdone references in contemporary art. So that is pushing me towards pursuing the red further but I think I'll experiment with these brighter shades through risograph before writing it off completely.
