hello love x
i was wondering if you could potentially do one where the reader is an actress and is in the new hunger games movies and everyone ships her with tom but she’s also dating lando … could you make a love triangle situation with these two?? like maybe she hangs out with tom more than lando or something idk lol u can come up with anything (you can decide who the endgame is) sort of like a illicit affair or where maybe she is seeing tom and everyone is aware of it idk??? (at this point im just saying nonsense i think lol)

Oh I thought I said the African kingdoms were warring against each other long before the euros. Also check siryouarebeingmocked about the Dahomey and my suspicious were confirmed https://www.tumblr.com/siryouarebeingmocked/698504617354575873
Um viola Davis, you basically act like a descendant of holocaust survivors lionizing the Nazis.
Damnit why could African Americans be part of the fall of the Dahomey kingdom? Though we would probably be so pissed off, we would make the KKK look like children and Fall of Carthage look like a joke.
Though a time traveler idea
Dahomey king seeing men with weird suits burning down his kingdom: What the fuck are you?!
A time traveler: Oh dear king *Take off his helmet to show off the fact he a man of African descent* I’m the descendant of the people who you sold for guns, now take a bullet in your mouth.
Or a supernatural story where African Americans feeds Dahomey to lovecraft gods or to the chaos god Apep. Can you tell how pissed off I am with women king?
Screw the hatred towards Hollywood with woke ness destroying ips. We all should be LIVID to the fact they have audacity to create modern version of the birth of a nation with a pro Africa paint job.
That could be interesting, and fun, they'd need to borrow the Delorian from Doc Brown, Dahomey likely crossed paths with these guys but their territories didn't cross over

And this from the Wiki article on Afro-Arabs
Tumblr media
People tend to forget that one of the bigger differences between different groups of people that took slaves is some would work them to death because buying new ones was relatively cheap, arabian states had the supply close by so ya.
But that movie would have to cross several geographical and historical lines to cover everything.
Be epic tho

finally watched the chaos walking movie and ..... it was certainly something
I will admit tho that most of I thought was fine ! they stuck surprisingly close to the major events of tkonlg, which I didnt expect. honestly thought they wer gonna try squeezing all three books into one movie, so seeing that almost the whole movie was dedicated to adapting tkonlg, I was pleasantly surprised
also, tom holland as todd really grew on me. he gives a good performance n brings a nice sense of charm to todd. he also had some funny lines
the noise was also really good I think. was also skeptical about how they could adapt such a thing into a movie, n I think they pulled it off really really well. the things they could do w their noise was interesting n put a cool visual spin on it that fit perfectly w the medium of film
but ........ it still had its flaws. many of them, really
while I knew they wer going to change things from the book, I didnt think theyd change so many Reallt important things. they got rid of Todd's birthday n the significance of that, none of the animals had noise n it seemed even the film itself would forget about manchee, so that scene that was so iconic to the book fell completely flat n hollow, they had some random people die in the shuttle viola was on instead of her parents cause they apparently died a while ago from sickness, they seemed to do a 180 on what kind of direction they wanted to end on n instead left many many threads hanging for a slightly anticlimactic finish, etc etc.
I really thought it was turning out to be an ok movie. outside of the original book, of course. but then it all fell apart when they completely ditched the haven plan for .. the wreckage of the first settlement ship ? everything kinda went downhill from there, w the only highlight being the noise showdown between todd n the mayor, but it still wasnt enough to save it. haven is never mentioned again, Aaron shows up just to quickly get burned alive (Aaron's whole character was .. one of the worst things honestly), davy n the prentisstown men just .. disappear, it all becomes a mess
one thing that I couldnt wrap my head around was the whole point of contacting the ship. they act like contacting the ship so it can land is a good thing n the main goal, but it's also exactly what the mayor wants. if viola hadnt drop kicked him, he couldv pushed straight passed todd n viola and lead his little army straight to the ship to take it over, n then what ?
really, everything about this movie rings hollow in the face of the chaos walking trilogy n tkonlg. only really made me wanna read that book again, n I can only hope that those interested in the overall premise of this movie decide to give the books a chance, if only to see how much better they are compared to the film

( Hi I'm the true newbie - if you remember, how are you? Btw, if you need me to hunt down bitches and teach them a lesson I'll happily do so cause we can't have people harassing you )
How crazy is someone loving himself to be considered narcissistic? I do know that we're always taught to envy being like somebody else and having other traits that we might never have, looking a certain way and even acting in a certain way so it might not be common (sadly) to be satisfied and happy about yourself and your personality. But it's wild that a simple man that likes himself for who he is can be considered narcissistic. And that's another problem, people use this word way too often and sometimes don't know what that means, it's an actual mental health issue and it can be diagnosed, the real narcissist aren't like that because they want to be and it affects their lives and their loved ones.
I guess it's a known thing that Henry struggled with body image and he was called Fat Cavill in school and if anything he politely accepts compliments cause he can't be like ' oh shut up talking about my looks ' in interviews! We're also not inside his mind to know what's going on, he might be standing in a tuxedo, smiling and still feeling insecure on the inside and we won't know unless he addresses it, and knowing the world we're in people might say he's faking to have peoples empathy cause of course someone that looks like him could never be insecure. Also, being an actor is tough on their bodies cause they have to change and shape their physic in many ways to fit a role, Viola Davis had to weight 200 pounds and lose it all very fast for another project and she is 55 years old!
I think that ask ( and I'm not hating on the anonymous ) really hit home here cause I've been reflecting a lot on self love and practicing self love, people like to say that you have to practice self love and admire yourself until you do and then they're upset, cause you're not doubting yourself and looking at your appearance in a bad way so there's no longer the insecure person you 'help' see the light and you're no longer 'the better person' I've had about twenty friends like this.
I've been struggling with my body and even my personality for all my life, I've been called names and I have let people treat me a certain way cause of the way I looked, cause who else is gonna look at me? And even so, I'm the furthest thing from beauty standards, and I still struggle. But I love myself, so very much, and I wish people love themselves too, and I am the most important person in my life for sure, cause I carry the weight of my sorrows and the beauty of being who I am, I'm my best friend, and that doesn't make me or anyone a narcissist, it makes me someone who won't let people treat me a certain way cause I have value and I deserve better. I am the last cookie of the jar ( Henry can have it tho ) and all I wish if for all pretty people I have around me to feel the same way, and to see how amazing and beautiful they are, so we can all love each other and love ourselves.
This is a long-ass rant, I'm sorry for that, please ignore it if you wish, and please love yourself cause you're a rockstar, you're so funny and your blog is addictive. ♥
Hey, not sure what you are saying by “True Newbie” since I had to block someone who called themselves Dark!fic Newbie and turned out to be a crazy person who harassed me here in the past.
Okay, let me differentiate the subjects for some clarity because you are absolutely right that people are misinformed and use the term without even realising how serious this condition is.
1. Self-love is important - self-love is accepting your flaws, considering them beautiful for what they are, and trying to improve on yourself and take better care of yourself.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to be stronger, muscular, thinner, fuller etc in order to take care of your body.
You can still love yourself and think you are good looking or be a bit troubled with your looks (we are human, we all have our ego) and be kind toward others.
Yes, some people are a bit self-centred but I wouldn’t name them narcissists. Henry is not self-centred from what I’ve seen, he seems to be kind and yes he cares about how he looks, he was bullied he will always have that voice in his mind telling him he is ugly...
2. Narcissism is a serious personality disorder. Narcissistic people are selfish, self-centred, manipulative, disrespectful of others, victimising themselves for attention and to make you feel guilty and sorry for them, lack any responsibility, lack empathy, lie, and try to control others.
Narcissistic people see other people as tools and means for their exaggerated self-importance and self-idolisation.
So no, I don’t see Henry as someone who has narcissistic traits.
Trust me, I grew up with a narcissistic mom...

7. what was your life like last year?
(jason mendoza voice) well, my year started about a year ago. it was probably one of the most interesting years of my life so far? maybe the hardest, idk? a lot happened, i think i did a lot of Growing UpTM. i was very very busy at first with my research masters and a bunch of extracurricular bullshit and then something happened in my family that forced us all to spend more time together, which made me realize a lot of things about myself and my family, and then, after debating it for months, i moved to the uk -- which turned out to be a great decision. i had such a good time and it gave me a sense of perspective and space that i didn’t know i needed. and i dated for the first time in ever, which was also fun! am totally not yearning/wondering about what could have been! nope! haha! ha! ha
17. opinion on insecurities.
insecurities are dumb and u shouldn’t have them. jk! false! it’s very normal to have insecurities! we are taught to be insecure about so many things in so many ways, to a point where it can feel unnatural to not be insecure about xyz thing! ppl will even attack you for not being insecure about certain things, probs bc it increases their own insecurity levels and/or threatens power hierarchies! many insecurities are connected to social axes such as race, class, gender, sexuality, size, dis/ability, religion -- and then you throw capitalism into the mix and now we’ve got a bunch of industries specifically designed to profit off of our insecurities! good times!
my conclusion, as a fat woman, is that people (and billion dollar industries such as the diet industry and the cosmetics industry) don’t actually want me to love my body, or myself. they don’t! they want me to be insecure and self-conscious and ashamed about my size, they want to to act out a specific role, that of the insecure fat girl, and inhabit and carry my body in specific ways, bc if i’m confident and don’t feel ashamed of my size, the world will crumble! if fat isn’t actually morally inferior/ugly/worthless/lazy/etc. then thin people would have to face the reality that all the time and energy they put in trying not to look like me is for nought! there’s lots more here to unpack and i feel like im not wording these things right and all of these things are so complicated and cannot be divorced from other issues such as racism and sexism and capitalism, but here’s a start.
my point is -- insecurities suck, they’re usually based on lies people and, more importantly, institutions and industries try to sell you, and i wish for everybody that they will one day know what it feels like to no longer have those insecurities -- and it’s completely normal to have them. there is no shame in having insecurities! it’s very hard to not buy into them. you have to put in so much conscious effort and energy into ridding yourself of insecurities that you’ve had for a lifetime -- and even then, it’s not a static thing. it’s not just a question of simply ‘changing your mind’ when the majority of society disagrees with you, when they don’t want you to gain confidence. some days im like: fuck fatphobia! im hot as fuck! also my worth is not defined by my looks so it doesn’t even matter! and then two hours later i’ll go outside and get fatcalled, or catcalled, or i’ll see my body in the reflection of a window, and suddenly my whole resolve crumbles, even tho i know on an intellectual level that it’s not true, the lie that i’m about to give into. it’s not easy. it’s not a matter of flicking a switch, even tho i sincerely wish it was. something that does help, or at least it did for me, is learning how those bigger systems, such as fatphobia, racism, colorism, misogyny, transphobia, are at work. this helps to see that it is not you, individually, who is lacking something or doing something wrong. there are entire institutions and industries who contribute to you feeling this way -- and profit off it (wow look at me, writing my thesis one tumblr ask at a time!)
37. favourite actor/actress
oh!!!!! viola davis! sandra oh bc she carried grey’s anatomy, no questions at this time ty! christine baranski bc mamma mia! the good wife! a bad moms christmas!!!!! i desperately want her in more comedies! kathryn hahn, who, i kid you not, is always the funniest person in a movie, no matter how small her role is! also, melissa mccarthy, kate mckinnon, retta, and of course, the only man worthy of mention, manny montana. i watch in amazement how he portrays rio. this man.......amazing.
36. 3 dreams you want to fulfill?
......................ok so i just realized you asked 36 instead of 37, damn it! im not even gonna delete that, they’re all too amazing for me to do that, soz. as for the dreams -- loving myself! writing a book (or, finishing a story that could be a book)! sucking it up and getting the bisexual nose piercing like i know i want to!
thank youuuuuuuu!!!! nice asks to help me procrastinate <3

who are actors you love watching (established or up and coming)?
I mean, there are a lot of people I love watching. Generally, I'm more drawn to movies due to a director or a storyline; good actors are bonuses lol, and bad actors are deterrents. In terms of established people whose faces I like to watch--Nicole Kidman, Viola Davis, Leo lbr, Margot Robbie (if she counts as established? I feel like she counts), Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Chris Pine, Angela Bassett, etc are just a few that are off the top of my head? (Edited to include Adam Driver and John Boyega and Oscar Isaac bc I just dragged daisy in another post, tho obviously John is a lot less established bc racism.)
And like... obviously, Meryl. Up and coming actors are easier to think of because they have careers that people are watching, vs. solidified and reliable careers. John David Washington, Nick Robinson, Florence Pugh, Kelly Marie Tran, and Zendaya Coleman are among those. I tend to really be into actors who do very good accent work (though that's getting harder to find) with super refined facial acting.

I saw two films yesterday at the film festival! One I loved and one was... well, imo, a lot of wasted potential.
I went to go see Koreeda’s new film first, Shoplifters. I’ve always loved his films (though admittedly I just don’t have the heart to watch Nobody Knows) and I’ve always gone to see them during the festival. Usually they are… not packed. This time, though, I was shocked to show up and find a rush line around the block?? I didn’t even realize that it’d won the Palm d’Or. Really, really glad I preordered my ticket, especially bc I loved the film.
Later that evening, I went to go see Widows, which was Steve McQueen’s new film. It was fine? I’ll admit I was just expecting something other than what I got and I didn’t find what I got particularly engrossing. That was likely more an issue of taste than quality, though. Well. Some of it was probably quality.
(Note: I mentioned graphic depictions of sex work under the content warnings not because I want to be anti-sex work but like. I can definitely see how depictions of it could be triggering.)
Some more thoughts:
As I was walking out of Shoplifters, I heard a lady complaining about how slow the film had been and how long it had taken to establish what the relationships between the characters were and the mean little voice inside me was like You don’t deserve a Koreeda film!!
If you’ve seen many of his films, the movie is pretty much what you’d expect. It’s a very quiet film about family and how messy it can be. Apparently, this particular film was pretty controversial in Japan amongst their more nationalist groups (and Abe, which… as I said, among their more nationalist groups) because of its depiction of Japan’s underbelly and its criticisms of some of Japan’s social issues. Personally, I loved it.
It’s a film about this motley crew of thieves and con men that make up a messed up little family. The film begins with them “adopting” a new little girl. “Adopting” is a euphemistic word. It’s more like they realized a little girl was being terribly abused by her family and they kidnapped her. That’s sort of the crux of the film, you know? These are not moral people. They do awful things. They teach small children to shoplift instead of letting them go to school — but where did they find those kids to start with? There’s an uneasy question of morality in this film at all times, especially when hints start to arise that shoplifting might be the least of some of these folks’ crimes.
Koreeda is honestly one of my favorite directors ever when it comes to depicting difficult families. His characterization is so gradual and realistic that you almost forget that these are not real people. These characters aren’t related by blood, but they take care of each other. They kidnapped a child, but the kid’s real parents were horrifically abusive. So at a certain point, where do they stop playacting at family and where do they start becoming real family? And once they become a found family, what secrets are dark enough to make the members realize that this is perhaps not the found family they wish to be a part of? It is essentially a film that questions the bonds and boundaries of family, both biological and adoptive, and it’s beautifully done.
Koreeda’s always been a director who asks difficult questions about adoption vs. biological kin, and this film is probably most pointed in that regard. His films are littered with poor parents and children just trying to make the best of things, to the point where it’s pretty clear that he’s resentful towards Japan’s attitudes towards family. The wrenching ending of this film makes that especially clear. As always in his films, there are no neat answers to these difficult questions.
The film is, as expected, beautifully shot and acted. It’ll also make your heart absolutely ache. It’s not as viscerally upsetting as Nobody Knows, but damn if it isn’t close. Definitely sadder than Like Father Like Son, one of my favorites of his, and that movie is pretty upsetting. The ache feels worth it, though. It’s just this grimy and lovely story all at once and I enjoyed it thoroughly.
(CW: brutal (if not graphic) child abuse, child injury, death (adult), graphic depictions of sex work. Definitely NSFW in spots, so I guess maybe don’t watch it with your parents.)
And then later I went to go see Widows. It wasn’t entirely the film I was expecting, and honestly, I don’t know that I liked what it was. The film was really billed as a feminist heist movie and uh. I guess a heist happened and there were some vague gestures towards Strong Female Protagonists. It was still a surprisingly dude-centric movie, though, with a depressingly predictable plot. It’s certainly not a fun movie, I’ll tell you that. It’s pretty brutal in spots and most of the characters range from boring to unlikable. Part of the problem is that the film vacillated wildly between an organized crime film to a heist film to a political film to a film about a romance to a generic action film to a film that occasionally flirted with actually important issues. But because it hopped around so much, I didn’t really feel satisfied with any one part.
It was basically a story about these women who’d been married to Crime Folks and when a Crime that the Crime Folks went bad, they all became widows. One particular widow (Viola Davis) got saddled with her Supreme Crime Husband’s shit, so she had to pull off his last heist with the other widows so they’d be out of debt to the people he’d fucked over. The other widows actually had very little to do with this bc they only had Minor Crime Husbands, but she dragged them into it anyway because I guess that’s just the kind of person she was. A lot of the film was pretty much Viola Davis bullying the other women into doing things and then feeling sorry for herself because she married a crime guy and that turned out to be a bad thing. There were also side plots about political machinations I didn’t care about and some organized crime which seemed to basically amount to David Kaluuya graphically torturing and murdering people to, idk, make the film brutal? Those scenes often felt fairly pointless and took up way too much time. He’s bad, I get it, what’s your point?
All the twists were pretty obvious. There was a scene about police brutality that I guess they could have bothered to do something interesting with, but it never went anywhere. (Nor did any of the political questions about social issues.) Honestly, the whole subplot about the dead son felt extraneous. I could sort of see what they were maybe aiming for? That she felt like he didn’t want their family because he was white and they weren’t and he didn’t want to deal with their lived reality and that made all the betrayals worse? But it never really came together, which was a pity. Like many aspects of the movie, it could have been something really interesting if they’d just given it some real thought and focus. Honestly, almost any of the plot lines could have been really good if they’d had their own movie. But uh. They didn’t. So it was kind of a mess. Maybe that’s what annoys me most. There was potential there but it went unrealized. So tons of things just felt extraneous and/or absolutely useless.
To be fair, the acting was obviously superb. It was pretty much carried by Viola Davis. Just wish the writing had been there. Like Viola Davis could act as hard as she wanted, that didn’t make her character particularly interesting or sympathetic. Every time she’d cry about her horrible dead husband and the predicament she was in, I was just like. Cool I mean I guess this is what happens when you marry a guy you know is a shit. None of the betrayals felt particularly shocking considering, like, it was established from scene one that he was a shitty guy. She just felt naive to the point of stupidity sometimes. Or maybe just self-involvement. And like. It’s hard to feel bad for a person who didn’t care if her husband hurt people as long as none of it affected her. Like I’m sorry that you’re reaping what you sowed, I guess? I’m not rooting for you, lady, nor do I even find you interesting as an antihero. (None of them were interesting. None of them. Most of them were stereotypes or otherwise shallowly-written characters.) Like I legit did not care who won the election or who got the money by the end of it.
On the upside, tho, there was a lot of Cynthia Erivo in the last third of the movie and boy am I here for her!! The character had barely anything as far as real characterization but I mean. Cynthia Erivo. By the end of the movie I was just kind of zoned out and watching Erivo do stuff. So that part was fun, at least. Everything else… not so much.
(CW: some fairly gory violence, graphic depiction of sex work (that was somewhat coerced), abusive parent-child relationships, mobility devices being taken from a disabled person in a fairly traumatic fashion, torture, death, racial slurs, extremely graphic police brutality, racism, sexism, animal abuse, implied child endangerment, graphically NSFW, etc.)

Who are the actresses leading big budget movies that are not franchises (Johansson, Gadot, Jolie, Larson) tho? Especially when they’re >40? Theron maybe but I don’t see many others. I don’t think it’s specific to Winona and related to the shoplifting thing (but I still don’t understand why Americans trashed her like that when she was clearly not doing well and hurt nobody). She’s not the only big name who switched to tv to get good roles in successful shows (Reese, Winslet, Julia Roberts, Kidman etc. Uma T. tried with a Netflix show but it flopped)
I can agree that it’s not specific to Winona Ryder and in general, Hollywood has no interest in letting women over 40 lead a box office hit. With that being said, I think we’ve got a fair amount of actress within Winona’s age group that was not nearly as high profile as Winona back in 90s/2000s that are bagging roles (maybe not THE lead but definitely a secondary lead) in prestigious projects, i.e. Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet, Laura Dern, Sandra Bullock, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Pfeiffer, Viola Davis, Julianne Moore, etc. Winona can most definitely act in the same league as half of those ladies I mentioned but she’s not booking roles that are near that level of quality. (Which again, I understand that she herself may not want to do those projects)

4, 12 & 28 for the movie thing?
ye! thank you for the ask!
4. Favorite movie soundtrack.
movie soundtracks that tend to come to mind are the ones that include FOB in them so... Big Hero 6 and Ghostbusters (2016)? I also liked some of the tunes in A Cure for Wellness, Us, and the horror cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit from The Gallows trailer, tho I never saw the movie proper.
12. Top 5 favorite female performances.
-Danai Gurira as Okoye in Black Panther. her expression work was great, especially during humorous moments. she also nailed her character’s complex feelings about the situation she found herself in and the way the crossroads and moral ambiguity of it left her floundering and hurt. -Lupita Nyong’o as Adelaide/Red in Us. it’s been said that it’s amazing that she can act two distinct characters in the same movie and have them be totally distinct, and it is. Adelaide and Red have their own personalities but are also intrinsically entwined. their final fight, especially the split second where she asks “do you remember?” and responds “yes,” is incredible. =/// so she’s not only both characters but makes their time onscreen believable and heartwrenching. -Daisy Ridley as Rey in The Force Awakens (and nothing else from the trilogy). the most striking parts of her character, I think, were the opening scenes where she’s just a kid trying to survive on this inhospitable planet, eating her inflatable nutribread and fantasizing about a different life. I wish her character hadn’t been flushed down the toilet. -Viola Davis in Widows. her ability to play a complex character who can both be incredibly sympathetic and heartbroken and kind of a jerk was amazing. she had great synergy with Elizabeth Debicki, who played Alice. -Mink Stole as Peggy Gravel in Desperate Living. weird one, sure, but her ability to act totally batshit had me howling with laughter. Lu and I can quote a lot of her introductory scene by memory.
do TV shows count in this???? probably not but honorable mentions to Kristen Ritter as Jessica Jones, Simone Missick as Misty Knight in Luke Cage, Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing in Iron Fist (i.e. the highlight of the show which was otherwise a bit of a trashfire lmfao), and Amber Rose Revah in The Punisher. there’s just a lotta cool ladies in Marvel TV.
28. Best remake.
Punisher: War Zone (2008) and I will absolutely die on this hill.
anyway this answer turned into a HUGE ramble I’m so sorry.

movies watched in 2017:
beaches (remake) - never saw the original and don’t care to; didn’t care about this one either, but two maggots playing the leads as children?  obviously gonna see it.  i wonder if someone in the casting department saw matilda when gabby and grace were in it or if one of them recommended the other for their role.  doubt it’s coincidental.  anyway.  they were great.  the movie was as dumb as i expected but not the worst thing lifetime could have made.
3 generations - embarrassingly bad.  the writing was abysmal, the characters were awful, and naomi watts seemed to be the only person trying to give a human performance.
fences - viola davis is fucking flawless.  never liked denzel much; still don’t.
paternal instinct - cute movie; wow, that one dad is a total dick tho.
beauty and the beast - it’s...fine?  the cgi looks...fine?  the music is...fine?  the actors are...fine?  it’s soulless and pointless and has no reason to exist, but it’s not BAD.  mrs. potts and chip are fucking nightmare fuel but everything else looked okay to GREAT (lumiere and cogsworth couldn’t have been better).  points as well for having both secondary romantic relationships be interracial; still not something you see much of in children’s media.  poor emma watson did her best to NOT look like she was staring at a tennis ball on a stick throughout the film but it was pretty obvious a lot of times that she was making eye contact with nothing.  the hideous yellow dress admittedly looked great in motion and suddenly its shitty-looking design makes some sense.  it wasn’t terrible; it had its good points.  but mostly it was just a tedious remake that added nothing of value to the original.
american pastoral - fucking terrible.  i’m honestly surprised to see that critics agreed with me; it seems like something they’d like.  but it’s superficial and badly-acted.
the beguiled - i really liked it while i was watching it and have to admit that on its own it stands as a good film.  but finding out what sofia coppola did to the original work it’s based on took the wind out my sails a bit.  i can understand why she didn’t feel qualified to tackle the racial elements of the story, but for me that just seems to suggest that she wasn’t the person to make this film.  it’s gorgeous and well-acted (oona laurence steals the whole damn movie, but every performance is terrific) and for once i think sofia coppola nailed the pacing as well as the tone and visuals, which is rare.  but i’ve lost my respect for it.
king cobra - james franco, don’t you ever change <3
feed - the concept is pretty good, the screenplay is decent, but the whole thing didn’t work for me for a very basic reason: troian bellisario and tom felton are far too old to be playing teenagers.  i know she wrote it for herself, and wrote it when she was a lot younger, but the whole thing just felt sad and silly with the casting choices she stuck with.  the more she attempted to look and behave like a teenager, the more it seemed like a pitiful vanity project for someone afraid to age, and it’s sad because if she’d accepted her age and stepped down, it could’ve been damn good.  the performances aren’t bad by any means, but you never really realize how different a 17 year old is from a 30 year old until you see one try to pass for the other.  the movements, the expressions, the way a person holds themselves.  nothing would have changed if the character had been a senior in college instead of high school, and that may have been slightly more believable.  but something needed changing.
the lego batman movie - i get why people found it silly and pandering.  but goddamn, it just was so cute and had so many delightfully joyful moments, i ended up loving it.

Davy had like.... a decent redemption arc at the very end but the kid was a prick in general. I wouldn't say he's a better person at heart than Todd tho, although it is kind of at the fault of his father.
Todd did, however, understand morals, and while jumping the Spackle was a Dumb Boy move, he was pretty much raised to believe they were the enemy, just like Davy, who did his fair share of abusing human beings AND Spackle, so they're equal on that front.
BUT:
TODD. HEWITT. Would capital N NEVER. torture someone out of his own free will. This boy was under Mayor Prentiss's kind control for like the entirety of the last two books so truly, between that combined with his morale being weakened because of Viola leaving -- which left him so much more vulnerable to Mayor Prentiss's control -- he was not acting out of his own free will when putting the arm bands on the women. Like come on, my baby boy was devastated when Viola finally came along and he saw her arm band and the spell on him finally cracked and he was like "holy shit what have I done." Like bruh this kid could nEver
The really disturbing thing about Chaos Walking is that Davy Prentiss was actually a better person than Todd Hewitt.

I find it hilarious after all of Lilli's "I'm a meme" talk, Jughead ended up being the meme'd character. Even if the "I'm weirdo" moment was Cole's worst acting moment. Tho who can make that sound good?
some of the lines in this show are so cringy like even viola davis couldn’t save this shit tbh we just have to accept it

Golden Globes 2017 - Predictions and Hopes
The stockings may no longer be hung by the chimney with care, but the smell of Awards season is in the air! It’s time for the Golden Globes!
Admittedly, I haven’t been blogging as much this year. A lot has happened. I moved to California and began my journey through life as an adult, which can be quite scary and takes a little adjusting. But leave it to a new year to get my write-y senses tingling again. I’m hoping to do a lot more this year, in various different aspects of life, because 2017, if you tilt your head and squint your eyes, is a year of potential. Also I will need something to take my mind off of our incoming political administration. But I digress.
Film in 2016 was like a quiet kid at a party who just wants to let loose - he tries a few times, learns a lot about himself and the fragility of the human condition (hey there Manchester by the Sea) but he ultimately figures out how to have fun and brings the party in unexpected ways (La La Land). Meanwhile, I would equate this year in TV to a champion boxer at the top of his/her game - delivering consistent punches with razor sharp accuracy, and nabbing multiple KO’s throughout the season (I’m looking at Stranger Things, Game of Thrones and Westworld).
With the Critics’ Choice Awards behind us and Jimmy Fallon ahead of us, (I’ve got high hopes buddy) here’s who I think campaigned the most… er, I mean, will be taking home some big gold balls this evening. MaesTRO!
Best Motion Picture - Drama
I’m a little behind on my film viewing this year (but don’t worry, all will be rectified come Oscar week) so I’m doing a bit of guesswork here based on the word of friends and family, critics, momentum, and previous awards/festival recognition, if any. Based on these, I would have to say Manchester by the Sea is the favorite in this category, though I would also love to see Moonlight or Lion take top honors. (Just, not Mel Gibson. And spare Andrew Garfield).
Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy
La La Land has been campaigning HARD, and rightfully so - the cinematography is dazzling, the balance between whimsical and low key is expertly held, and all its contrasting flavors and dancing delights meld together beautifully under the visionary, artful leadership of “Whiplash” director Damien Chazelle. This award going to anyone else would be a major upset. (Gotta give love to Deadpool and Sing Street)!
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama
A plethora of strong female leads this year, arguably lead by Viola Davis, but you’ll find her (most likely) taking home Supporting Actress. I said a few months ago that Jessica Chastain’s ethically challenging performance in Miss Sloane was not to be overlooked, so I’m glad to see her listed. But I think it’s between stunning newcomer Ruth Negga for Loving and Natalie Portman for Jackie, with the most likely winner being Portman, as her campaign has picked up speed as of late. But the globes have a history of taking kindly to breakout stars, so a first-time win for Negga is also probable. We’ll have to see with this one.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama
From what I’ve seen and heard, it’s Casey Affleck’s to lose. This has stirred up a little controversy, since Affleck is still receiving praise while Nate Parker is not for Beasts of No Nation, despite both being accused (and later acquitted, in Parker’s case) of similar crimes. However, the nominees being what they are, an award for Affleck is the most likely scenario.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy
Yeah, it’s Emma Stone. Unless Cecille B. Demille has something planned for honoree Meryl, but I don’t think they’d do that. Props to Hailee tho.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy
Oh, The Lobster! I heard such great things about Colin Farrell’s performance. But this category could go a variety of ways based on past behavior: it could go to the best actor in a “this is way more drama than comedy but let’s go with comedy” comedy (Farrell), it could go to best actor in a musical who showed off tons of talent (Gosling), or it could go to the “laugh out loud” funniest (Reynolds). My hunch is, in keeping with the La La Land theme, they’ll go with Gosling here.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture
All amazing performances from what I’ve heard (and will soon see). But there’s a reason Queen Viola was placed in this category - she came to dominate. She was a force in Fences.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture
Gotta go with the favorite Mahershala Ali. Moonlight deserves a win and if it’s most likely to come anywhere, it’ll be here.
Best Director - Motion Picture
Damien Chazelle was nothing short of both a painter and poet. He’s our guy.
Best Screenplay - Motion Picture
Now this is a little tough, because the screenplay category at the Globes lumps in both original and adapted screenplays. Only Nocturnal Animals is adapted, but the strength of La La Land’s inventiveness and juxtaposing personalities is hard to resist this year. I could also imagine Moonlight or Manchester taking this home as well, given the direct, heavy impact of everything that is said, and unsaid. I’ll stick with La La, but the latter two are worthy spoilers.
Best Motion Picture - Animated
I think My Life As A Zucchini should be given an award for its name alone. I imagine Zootopia and Moana, feminist masterpieces, are the favorites to take the cake. And Sing was adorable (and Tori Kelly #slays). But personally, Kubo is instantly connective, and it appears to be the greater artistic feat among the bunch. I would choose it to win, but would have to go with the former two as worthy contenders.
Best Motion Picture - Foreign Language
Given the strength of the title characters’ performance, I’m going to have to go with Elle.
Best Original Score - Motion Picture
I have a lot of thoughts on scores this year (may have to put them in another post). Especially on Johann Johannsson’s work for Arrival (that cello lead emulating a whale that represents ominous contact from another world?! C'mon!) But it has to be the overarching mystic whimsy of Justin Hurwitz’ La La Land.
Best Original Song - Motion Picture
When I first heard JT’s “Can’t Stop The Feeling!” almost a year ago, I thought to myself, “Well, somebody’s winning an Oscar.” It seemed like a sure thing. But then “City of Stars” came along, with its all-at-once haunting yet catchy melody… in minor, I might add. It perfectly captures what we see and feel in the film, the push and pull of falling in and out of love with Los Angeles, being inspired, yet disheartened by pursuing a life as an artist. It takes true mastery to compose a work that melodically and lyrically mirrors the essence of such a complex feeling. So as much as I’d love to see JT or even Lin-Manuel win a Globe, the genius of Justin Hurwitz and La La Land is not to be outdone this year.
TV, quick! What an extraordinary year!
Best Drama
Stranger Things - I think as a whole, it was the best, freshest, and most entertaining package TV had to offer this year.
Best Comedy
Atlanta - Let’s give Transparent, Mozart and Veep a break.
Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television
It was all about The People vs. O.J. Simpson this year.
Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Series - Drama
Evan Rachel Wood - the skill and self-control required to switch almost instantaneously from pure hysteria to robotic dread is ridiculous. Acting master class.
Best Performance by an Actor In A Television Series - Drama
Rami won last year, deservedly. Let’s try Bob for Better Call Saul.
Okay, I’ll leave it here for now, but stay tuned for more blogs and other trinkets and things in the coming year :) Happy Globes!

What is your favorite: Color, band, song, actress, breed of dog, animal and mystical creature. for the tmi tuesday thing (:
Aaa wow thanks for all the questions!! srry for the late reply, i’ve been lazy...
Color- yellow!
Band- Mae!!! I’ve loved them since I was 13 and they’re one of the biggest things that inspire me to create, and they’ve helped me through my depression as well. I was supposed to see them live back in 2015 and I bought the ticket and everything, but my parents refused to let me go at the last minute :~) they’re working on a new album tho and plan on going on tour again and I’m determined to see them at least once in my life!!
Song- FUCK this is an incredibly hard one!! I don’t have a set favorite, but a big one is Xizi She Knows by Imogen Heap.
Actress- i have a huge crush on christina ricci.........based mostly on acting ability tho i also love viola davis, elizabeth moss, and rebecca hall; there’s probably a lot more though that i can’t remember haha
Breed of Dog- i love all dogs!!! but lately i really like bulldogs and pitties!
Animal- Capybaras!!!!! along with them i like llamas/alpacas and tapirs too
Mystical Creature- I’ve never been big on fantasy stuff so I don’t think I really have a favorite....I mean unicorns n mermaids n stuff are cool but i just don’t feel strongly about any type of creature like that? i’m boring sorry ldfgjhgjfk
