With these ±50 items you can create countless (or around 120.960) of 2014 Tumblr Soft Grunge outfits!

Tops:

- Simple black and white tops in different shapes, like the American Apparel ones pictured. A simple black and white t-shirt is also always good to have.

- Tops with a design. Especially horizontal black and white stripes and grids are a need!

- Band merch! Arctic Monkeys is the most popular one, but e.g. The 1975, The Neighbourhood and Nirvana are also good!

- The alien shirt! I think everyone remembers this one, the OG is from Brandy Melville, but there are a lot of remakes.

- A top with a Japanese word, I found these on Pinterest, but you can find a word that you like :)

- Flannels. Go for a dark colour like grey, green or red. Wear it as usual or around the waist.

- A jean jacket, usually a little baggy. Vintage Levi's are a good option, but any brand works.

Sets:

- Another popular outfit is the Lulu set from American Apparel, this one was available in several designs, but for the soft grunge look we're looking for the black and white versions. Like the ones pictured.

Bottoms:

- Pleated tennis skirts! Specifically from American Apparel, the black and white ones are a must! One with a plaid print is also good to have, especially when the rest of the outfit is a bit plain and you want that little extra.

- Jean shorts, preferably a bit baggy. Washed out denim, grey tints and black are great options.

- Jeans! I'll make a separate list here.

Jeans:

- 2 pairs of blue denim baggy jeans (preferably a bit of a lighter shade). 1 ripped and 1 not.

- 2 pairs of black baggy jeans. Again, 1 ripped and 1 not.

- 1 pair of black skinny jeans.

Shoes:

Shoes are usually black, but white is also seen.

- Chunky heels, like the ones from UNIF.

- Platform sneakers, Buffalo is a good brand for that.

- A pair of black Dr. Martens. High ones are the most versatile in my opinion, but the low ones are cute too.

- Black High Top Converse All-Stars are a must. Checkered ones are nice as well.

- And so are the classic Checkered Vans slip ons.

- Nike Air Force 1, in black and/or white.

- Black creepers.

Accessoires:

- Fishnet tights! You can get them in different sizes :) you can also get fishnet socks

- Kneehigh socks! Get 4 different ones so you have a bit of versatility. 2 plain in black and white, 2 with stripes, so black with white stripes (like the one pictured) and white with black stripes.

- Chokers! There are many different designs but the tattoo choker is iconic! A plain black one is the other most important one. If you got those two you're free to get any choker you like! Not before that tho >:)

- Crystal necklaces, you know? THOSE ones :) in silver obvi

- A beanie for the winter. A black one with white stars or text maybe? It's up to you :)

- Black and white tote bags, specifically The American Apparel cities bag and the one with 'This Bag Contains [some illegal stuff]

This all together can be very expensive, but you probably already have some things in your closet! I suggest going to thrift stores :) also, ofc you don't have to buy these brands, you can look for cheaper look a likes :)

What would be ur recs/advice for those who wanna start dressing like violet? I started the show less than a week ago ( late to the party, I know lmao ) but I already love it and she really stands out to me as a character.

if you're looking into violet's style and just want to dress like her, i recommend doing research on all of her outfits. she dresses very grunge-like at times with a twinge of girly and boho style. a great example of this is her outfit in “home invasion”, where she wears a dress and a flannel paired together.

the way she wears dresses is slightly influenced by 90s style. in “home invasion”, violet asks the girls if the tights they're forcing her to wear are vintage. it's clear that violet loves vintage style clothing. this photo is from a 1996 delia’s fall catalog, which is similar to violet's clothing style.

model A is definitely wearing something violet would wear. as violet loves to pair short-sleeve dresses with long sleeves. she also often wears combat-style boots with dresses, or vintage-style ankle boots. she wears ballet flats a few times, giving her outfits a feminine look. she also does wear a few blouses. violet is more on the girly side when it comes to dressing up.

for shoes, violet wears a lot of boots and ballet flats. her most common boots worn are her urban outfitters ecoté equestrian ankle boot. she wears them with almost every outfit with leggings, tights, etc.. with most of her outfits, she does wear combat-style boots. a great example of this is her boots worn with her ymc dress and the boots worn with the joie cardigan. she does wear ballet flats a few times, once with the spending time pullover and once with her free people fit and flare burgundy skater dress. only once in the show she wears sneakers. she also wears black, lace up oxfords with her a.p.c dress, which are never worn again after that.

violet often wears patterned clothing. the most common pattern violet wears is floral. almost all of her dresses have floral prints. her tights also have floral patterns. she often wears paisley print tops as well, such as the free people regal macrame asymmetrical tunic and the paisley ruffle top worn underneath the banana republic striped cardigan. she likes stripes as well, her socks are striped as well as some of her cardigans and sweaters.

another thing to remember is that violet always layers her clothing. underneath sweaters, she always wears an undershirt. underneath dresses, she wears long sleeves, and so on. underneath tank tops, she often layers two long sleeves or rolls up the sleeves.

she most often covers up her body when wearing dresses. she always wears something underneath her dresses to avoid showing any cleavage. she always makes sure to wear long sleeves with dresses as well to hide her cuts. when wearing sleeveless dresses, violet will pair cardigans or long sleeves underneath a dress to avoid showing her arms. when wearing shorts and dresses, violet always wears tights or long socks. it's clear that violet doesn't like to show a lot of skin. when wearing tank tops or short sleeves, she always wears something underneath unless she's by herself or with tate. only a few times in the show violet shows some skin, but not very much.

violet also loves graphic t-shirts. she wears a few of them like the j. crew lake erie boating club henley, the custom-made kinks tee, and the nordstrom chloe k. multicolored feather print tee. when wearing these, she always wears a long sleeve top underneath. as for long sleeves, violet likes to wear burnouts, such as the free people floral burnout henley and the free people striped long sleeve burnout in sand.

as for color, her outfits are never really vibrant. most of the time they include colors with dark hues. she wears a lot of black, purple, burgundy, gray, and beige from what i've seen. most of her outfits consist of muted color schemes.

for accessories, violet wears a lot of hats and bracelets. she wears the urban outfitters bailey of hollywood cosgrove wide brim pork pie hat a couple times. she also wears a lot of knit beanies or berets. when wearing bracelets, she really just wears whatever, such as pearl bracelets, knot bracelets, hair ties, and so on. she likes to wear scarves too, and she wears a small wrist scarf around her wrist a few times. with every outfit, violet wears silver hoop earrings, which aren't too noticeable unless she pulls her hair back. she also includes different bags, such as her rothco book bag and her ecoté backpack.

another thing about her style is that she often wears a lot of free people and urban outfitters brands, such as pins and needles, staring at stars, bdg, ecoté, and so on. free people is a mainly boho style clothing brand, and violet does wear a lot of boho style clothing as well. once in the show, she does wear a crochet white beanie, which stems from the whole 2010s boho style.

she wears crochet tank tops, paisley patterns, floral patterns, macrame vests and tank tops, ponchos, crochet dresses, lace tops and dresses, fringe cardigans and bags, the list goes on. her style overall is a mix of 2010’s boho, grunge, and vintage style clothing.

if you're looking to actually collect exacts, then before you start collecting, i would recommend doing your research on violet's outfits so you don't get the wrong exact. i've seen people buy the wrong colorway of the trapeze slip dress, so you should probably do your research first.

to start collecting violet’s clothes, you may want to start with some common items. such as the items listed down below. do keep in mind, as the years go on, the availability of some exacts are getting more and more limited as they age, so get these while you can.

• free people intimately voile and lace trapeze slip dress in storm.

• anthropologie moulinette soeurs anthro horkelia shift dress in orange.

• free people fit and flare burgundy skater dress.

• free people lost in the forest knit pullover in tan/faded rose.

• free people spending time pullover in ivory/cream.

these items are almost always available, these are some casual staples in your collection that really capture violet's unique style. new collectors usually get these anyway because if and when any rarer items are on sale, older collectors usually strive to get those because they've probably been looking for them for a while. as you slowly start to build your collection up, you can start to buy rarer exacts.

i recommend searching for items on other apps such as mercari, poshmark, vinted, curtsy, and ebay. if you search hard enough, you can find these items for really cheap. you can type in the brand name of an item you're looking for with a vague description of it, just like this. you can even use image searches on poshmark and ebay if you want.

you can find really cheap exacts this way, but if you can't find anything, then don't be discouraged. mapleavenues has been selling exacts since the early 2010s, and she still does to this day. she's on depop, poshmark, and ebay. however, her prices are high, so if you're not willing to pay that much, then you may wanna start searching with this method.

this is pretty much all i have to say about dressing like violet. this was a bit rushed, but i tried! violet's style is so unique and it always surprises me. so don't be afraid to change up your outfits every now and then like violet does. hopefully i explained this well enough, but violet's style doesn't have a main theme, so it is very, very complex and hard to explain. :,) hopefully this helps.

hello suni here! thea answered with some hair references for the entire party here but because i am extra as all hell, here are moodboards for mike and will’s styles (with more for the rest of the party to follow)!

acswy will is a big fan of sweaters and stripes (!!) and he looooves a good colorblock moment! i see him in a lot of earth tones (it’s easier for him to match and layer that way. he’s just like me fr) with the exception of a few choice colors (bright yellow, red, etc). to Us he’s also a shoes guy but in a very lowkey and Normal manner which is why the bowie reeboks have been in my pinterest board for camp au will for months now bc i think he sees them somewhere and then saves up for months to buy them and then immediately refuses to wear them anywhere out of fear of getting them dirty lol (also peep the byler shoes 👁️👁️) he’ll prioritize comfort over fashion a lot of the time — ergo the infamous hanes six pack of t-shirts from chapter 1 — but when it’s not one million degrees out and when he is not about to get covered in dirt, this is the look he’s going for!

to us acswy mike is also a big proponent of comfort and and practicality but he’s also a grade A dork LOL he has a thing about jackets the way will has a thing about shoes so thrift finds like his beloved leather and denim jackets are a staple for most of the year! (not summer though. obviously.) i think he would love a good crewneck + shorts moment in the spring especially (the “shorty short shorts” are literally the length of the shorts in the middle photo so idk what will was getting so worked up about 🙄) and he owns one million really stupid shirts that he wears all the time that will definitely does not find endearing. also to us mike loves collecting vintage pins so below the cut are some we think he would have been so so so excited to find:

Sneak Preview of my Ed x Teleya Fic! Might be OOC for Teleya but she's got a lot of feelings and she does not know how to process them. The preview is PG-13, the fic itself will be Explicit because smut.

Ed's quarters were still as nice as she remembered, with plenty of space for their…whatever they had. Teleya was hesitant to call it a family because Anaya was really all that was holding them together, but it was always interesting to see his reaction whenever she had dinner on the table whenever he was done with his shift. She had little to do outside of taking care of Anaya, since the Union did not need a dictator amongst their ranks. Ed was reading something on his pad in the living space, wearing his usual plain white t-shirt and striped blue boxers to sleep in. She was now trying to decide if she wanted to sit with him or go to bed.

"Wine?" he asked. "It's uh…some kind of wine. I think."

Teleya smiled to herself and went to sit with him, carefully positioning herself at a reasonable yet not offensive distance from him. Ever since she had been ousted from Krill, things had been incredibly lonely for her, and it was nice to have a…friend? Ally? Someone who didn't want to kill her? Whatever their relationship was, he was an excellent father to Anaya, and their daughter had grown by leaps and bounds aboard the Orville.

Teleya picked up the bottle and examined the label.

"Bortus gave it to me," he said. "The translators can't tell me what it says. It smells like the shit we used to clean the engine manifolds with. He assures me it can be consumed by humans."

Teleya popped open the bottle and sniffed. Immediately, she recoiled, gagging at the smell.

"What in His Holy name is this made of?" she asked. "Spent dysonium rods and raw sewage?"

Ed snickered and poured some into a glass. She watched in fascinated horror as he swirled it around. It was thick and it stuck to the sides of the glass like thick paint would. Thin, white hazy smoke rose up from the surface as it bubbled and reacted with something. 

"A human can consume cyanide, yet they likely will not survive," Teleya said. "Think of Anaya before you ingest that, please."

Ed sniffed it.

"Christ, it smells worse now," he said, covering his nose.

"Perhaps you could have it reserved for study," Teleya said. "It might be useful as a weapon."

"Ah, yes. A fine vintage Moclan wine," Ed said. "Whether you're going to a dinner party or committing unspeakable war crimes, just one bottle will suffice."

He capped it and put the glass down. She smiled and then fidgeted as silence descended into the room. Ed gave her that infuriating knowing look and she tried her best to not look anxious. On Krill, she was quite literally a queen. She ruled with an iron fist, and her subjects feared her. They revered her. They fell to their knees in her presence. Here? People barely gave her a second look now that they were used to her presence. It was almost insulting, and she was completely out of her element. She was entirely at his mercy, and she did not like that.

"Ed, thank you," she said, not looking at him.

"For what?" he asks, looking up from his data pad.

"For not leaving us behind," she said.

Ed turned the pad off and put it down. Avis, no. He was going to want to talk about feelings, wasn't he? Teleya felt every alarm going off as he turned slightly to face her.

"Did you really think I would leave you behind?" he asked.

"You said you were going to," she responded. "And that Anaya asked you to come back for the rest of us. We are all grateful that you came back. So thank you."

He made that face where he looked thoughtful and guilty, and Teleya just knew he was going to apologize for something that wasn't his fault.

"I was pissed off at you when I said that," Ed said. "I shouldn't have said that…I'm sorry. I would have never left you or the others behind. That's not how I work."

Oh no. Not the Union 'leave no man behind' bullshit. Please. ANYTHING but that.

"Still," Teleya said, after a moment of hesitation. "Thank you. It was not necessary. Anaya's safety is what mattered most to all of us."

She prayed to Avis that he would go back to his data pad and that they would not need to have a conversation, but he was still looking at her with those dark brown eyes. His hair was a mess and she really wanted to smooth it down, but he was just going to go to bed soon anyway so what was the point? Ed shifted on the couch, leaning up against the arm.

"Come here," he said.

Confusion filled her, but hesitantly, she edged closer to him. Before she could back away, Ed caught her in his arms and pulled her up against him in what he had called a snuggle hug. She tensed up as she remembered all those nights spent in his arms as Janel and not Teleya. Did he miss Janel enough to want to hold her? He rubbed her arm gently as she settled into his embrace, enjoying the warmth from his body.

"Why are you touching me?" she asked, her voice muffled from where she was smushed up against his chest. 

There was no venom in her tone, and she hated herself for it. Ed let out a humming noise.

"Stop complaining," he said, and she scowled. "And stop making faces."

Here is a list of data I have gathered from this country and oh boy, what an interesting specimen we have here....

You will find this find this mythological creature at your local Walmart superstore during the evening hours on a weekday, sporting flannel loungewear pants (The plaid kind), a cotton t-shirt that definitely has been worn no less than two (2) times, Old Navy $1 flip flops, and a gray jacket.

America has a deep love for cars and trucks, he can be seen working on his vintage 1968 Dodge Charger R/T called 'Thunderbird' (an absolute speed demon that can reach at top speeds of muthafuckin' 156 mph), and his enormous 2019 Ford F-150 'Big John' that he loves to drive to world meetings because he is a total stud muffin showoff.

Oh yeah, he defiantly modded 'Big John' horns with airblasters. So when he parks his car and he sees other nations come out of their vehicles, he pounds on that horn and scares the living shit out of them.

He totally does 2 am donuts in the Thunderbird the front of Walmart parking lots with his brother Canada to freak him out.

Other than seeing him work on his cars while listening to "Waking Up in Vegas by Katy Perry" on the radio, he's in his room sorting out his action figure and comic book collection.

He has an eBay account where he buys, trades and auctions his collection as his interests constantly change.

Max is cleaning out the house and finds his old school uniform, he puts it on as a bit of joke thinking maybe the alphas would get a kick out of it or something. He totally doesn't expect Charles being all over him, the uniform reminding him of all the firsts of Max's he took 🥵

Max is cleaning out the attic, and he finds a box of old clothes and takes them down to go through it, half to laugh about them, half for the nostalgia, and also because maybe Riley might like one or two of them.

There is tons of stuff that kind of makes him a little sad when he looks at them. Shirts in drab colors, cheap jeans he never liked wearing, formless sweaters to hide his figure.

„Mama, most of these are so…sad.“ Riley holds up a very ugly grey-striped knit jumper.

„Yeah… I was sad while wearing them.“ Max watches Riley toss it onto the donate-pile.

There is a divide in this box, though, between before and after- before, those are the colorless clothes, the ones that scream depression. After, they get more colorful. There is a t-shirt Charles made for him, it’s tie-dye with „bestie“ written on the chest.

„I like this one,“ Riley smiles, holding it up to his own body. Max was older than him when he wore it, so it still looks too big, but he’ll grow into it.

„What’s this?“ Riley pulls out a piece of fabric, and Max’s heart stops for a second. Riley holds it up, and the ugly, mid-length skirt unfolds „I thought you never wore skirts when you were younger!“

Max shudders at the memory of sitting in a restaurant wearing it, his father talking about him like he’s not there, alphas commenting on his figure and cooking skills like he’s a doll, Daniil sitting there not talking to him.

„I didn’t.“ He grabs it from Riley’s hand and tosses it onto the landfill-pile. Riley follows it with his eyes. „My father made me wear it once.“

He has a policy of not lying to his pups about feelings and his past, and Riley is old enough to understand. Immediately, his eyebrows furrow. „Well, fuck it then.“

It makes Max smile, the swear word included.

„Ohh, look!“ Riley reaches and pulls out something else.

It’s Max’s school uniform, a white button down, a fine wool-knit jumper, the pleated skirt. Riley coos at it. „That’s so vintage, I love it!“

Max snorts. „Vintage?“

It’s the last uniform he had for school, much too big for Riley. A flood of memories overcomes Max as Riley runs his fingers over the pleated skirt. „That must have looked so cute on you.“

„It did,“ Charles says from the doorway. He must have sneaked up on them, distracted as they.

„Maman, look!“ Riley beams, „Did you have one like this too?“

„Yeah, of course.“ Charles saunters over to them, his hand landing warmly on Max’s shoulder. „But I used to roll up the waistband so it looked shorter.“

That makes Riley giggle.

„I didn’t do that,“ Max tells him, „And neither should you.“ Although he knows Riley would never. He reminds Max of himself like that.

„Actually,“ Charles hums, „I think I still have my cheerleader uniform. I think it’s in the depths of my closet somewhere.“ As intentioned, Riley’s eyes light up immediately. „Can I go look for it?“

„Yeah! It should be on a hanger.“

Riley dashes off, leaving the two of them alone. Charles sinks down to the floor next to Max and surprises him with a kiss. Max purrs into it. He knows Charles is up to something, especially when he half-climbs into Max’s lap to straddle him.

„You should put it on,“ he purrs, kissing Max’s neck.

„What?“ It comes out squeakier than expected. When Max realizes Charles is referring to the school uniform, he shakes his head violently. „It won’t fit!“

„It will!“ Charles pulls away, looking at him with a glint in his eyes. „…please?“

„Why?“ Max asks, mildly bewildered by the intensity of this request. Slow heat is rising in the bottom of his stomach as Charles is grinding down on him. He wraps his arms around him and holds on to his thighs, squeezing lightly.

„Because…,“ Charles trails his fingertips up Max’s shoulders, „That’s what you were wearing for most of our first times.“

Max feels himself blush. „Oh!“

„Yeah… I still have very fond memories of fingering you under that skirt,“ Charles purrs with a smirk, his fingertips now running along the neckline of Max’s shirt. „…and of unbuttoning that shirt.“

Max is too stunned to speak, so he just tips his head up in an offer for a kiss. Charles takes the offer. It’s true, there were many, many times when they made out while Max was wearing this outfit. There are lots of memories attached to it; not many of them have to do with actual school.

They make out for a moment, right until there are footsteps on the staircase. Charles lets out a little groan and slowly slides off of Max’s lap, giving him a heated grin. Max also feels slightly out of breath.

Riley barges in, Charles’ old red and white cheerleading uniform in hand. „I found it!“

„Great!“ Charles rises to his feet. „I could try it on, see if it still fits me.“ He gives Max a wink, then tells Riley, „Your papa must have a matching alpha one somewhere.“ He holds the skirt up to his hips, and Max has to look away so he doesn’t blush even harder.

„You could have a Highschool dress-up party!“ Riley suggests innocently.

Charles gives Max a smirk and wiggles his hips, making the pleated skirt swing back and forth. „Yeah, maybe we should.“

Outfits of the week rundown (they were all fantastic)

Monday: Wide-legged red denim trousers, white t-shirt, colourful scarf worn as belt (red, olive green, blue, orange), white/blue/red striped sneakers

Tuesday: off white knee-length denim skirt (think 50s/60s silhouette), black off the shoulder top, gold/red silk handkerchief worn as one broad-shimmering stroke of colour around the throat, white heeled straps sandals

Wednesday: same red jeans, white cropped loose top (think 70s chic, ruffled and pure cotton, long proofed sleeves, perforated), blue cotton handkerchief around the throat, same colourful scarf worn as belt, sneakers

Thursday: same white skirt, black top with a square neckline and thick straps (think once again vintage silhouette), sneakers, silk leopard print handkerchief around the throat

Hair was always pinned up, except for Thursday, where it hung loose in messy almost curls (result of the pinned up hair in prior days). Red lipstick whenever I remembered to refresh it. Cat eye sunglasses outside.

ok, so who’s driving the most, and whose vehicle are they taking?

you kind of touched on this in my this / that ask lmao, so i feel like it’ll be rhett but...

who has over packed? who has under packed? 

my money is on rhett because he’s a cute little outfit repeater lmao like, depending on how long they’re gone he’s probably got a couple pairs of jeans and boots, a few hoodies, buttery soft t-shirts (that he knows will rotate between the three of them), flannels, and thermals—all in one suitcase with so much room to spare. reader and robby are like, “baby, what the hell?”

who sleeps the most between destinations? who, for whatever reason, can hardly sleep at all? 

who tries to read, and who warns them against it lest they get motion sick? 

you also touched on robby getting carsick if he rides in the backseat in my this / that ask! and! i remember your “rhett gets motion sick on the hay ride” headcanon which makes me think that he needs to sit facing forward in / on a moving vehicle (or horse?) or things start spinning and his belly starts swooping in a bad way 😬 so that makes me think reader is almost never leaving the back seat lmao 

and what about gas station snacks? do they do a grocery run and pre-pack, or when they stop for gas, is rhett like “hold my beer, cutie pies!” 😉 and goes on a delightfully wild but efficient rampage through the convenience store and comes out with an actually pretty damn good haul featuring his own old favorites but also things robby and reader have mentioned liking—as well as a couple things they didn’t even know they’d like?

reader and rhett do almost heatedly rock paper scissor for the last cow tail before robby takes it from the bag at a deserted intersection, rips it in half, takes a bite from both halves and then hands them the remaining pieces. they grumble quietly to themselves but savor the rest of the sweet treat until they come to another station…

*whispers* my preferred car snacks used to be combos (hard pretzels with cheese inside) + strawberry kiwi gatorade, and fudge stripes + sour cream and onion chips. what are / were yours?

who’s tryna stop off at any and all roadside attractions, small towns, and vintage diners? ARE THEY GETTING THOSE WESTERN PHOTOS TAKEN? y’know, the ones where you dress up and they take your photo with the sepia toned filter over it

do the spend any of their nights camping along the trip? maybe sleeping cuddled up snug under the stars in the truck bed? or are they trying to stay in affordable but safe hotels to be able to explore towns and cities along the way?

They're most likely taking a rental or Reader's car because those household trucks do not get good gas mileage at all. Nor is there a whole lot of room in those tiny backseats 🥴that was a lesson Rhett and Bobby learned while hauling stuff from Wyoming when they first moved.

Rhett's definitely doing most of the driving; he does best on those long stretches of highway. Bob comes in when they're getting off on exits and navigating unfamiliar streets. He may drive like a smell, but at least he isn't going to miss every turn like Rhett will. It's a gamble if the Reader will ever get behind the wheel because those boys will get motion sick if nobody is careful.

Rhett can handle sitting in the back, so long as he takes a pill to keep the nausea at bay, but Bobby simply cannot make it work. He absolutely has to be glued to the passenger or driver seat. But he also tends to just? Forget? How prone he is to getting nauseous? Reader and Rhett get onto him so much for trying to read and watch things on his phone because, without fail, they're gonna have to make an emergency pit stop.

The ratty blanket in the trunk isn't for warmth; it's so that Bob can lay flat on the ground and gather his bearings.

Bobby is also the one who has, somehow, overpacked.

You would think he'd be the best at it, considering the whole 'six months away on an aircraft carrier' thing, but alas. He's the one using his body weight to hold his suitcase closed while he fiddles with the zipper 😒 Bobby strikes me as someone who rolls all of his clothes to conserve space. He simply doesn't realize that the extra space made him think he under-packed.

Rhett was clever enough to realize that Bobby packed enough for the both of them combined. Why should he pack a bunch of stuff when he can steal from Bob? He's got:

Ten pairs of socks (he put half the damn drawer in there),

Five of his comfy T-shirts

Four pairs of jeans

Three flannels

Three hoodies (one for each of them to wear),

One pair of boots

And one pair of sneakers

It's not even folded; he's just shoved it all in there and called it a day.

The Reader is the only one who packed accordingly. You know...an outfit for every day, including something formal in the event they go out to a nice restaurant. And here, they thought they were overdoing it with the spare outfits.

Everyone packed at separate times, so nobody knew the situation until they got to the first hotel room. Rhett could have sized down a bag. Meanwhile, the recoil on Bob's tightly bound suitcase could have killed him 🙄

Rhett is not a traveler in the slightest; this whole new bed thing has him wide awake nearly every night. But he'll sleep like a baby on the last night of their stay. It's a genuine curse. Bobby used to be the same way, but he managed to get over it after his first deployment. Everyone in this household is jealous of how quickly Bob can fall asleep.

Bob certainly made an effort to pre-pack snacks, but the problem is that sometimes you get on the road and you're just not in the mood for what you brought. He put together some mini fruit bowls and baked some treats to go in the cooler, and a household shopping trip brought home a bunch of different snacks, but it's hard to resist grabbing things from the gas station.

If Rhett is allowed to shop on his own whilst Bob messes with the gas, then he'll come back with all sorts of things. Beef jerky, two variants of Chex mix, popcorn, mini cheesecakes, donuts, three various bags of candy (including Bob's beloved gummy worms), and that's just the pre-packaged stuff.

The other bag in his hand is full of potato wedges, fried chicken, pizza slices, beef and bean burritos, fried okra, hot dogs, and, if the gas station had it, fried catfish. He's wrangled a whole damn meal in the span of like ten minutes. And while it sounds like a lot (because it is) Robby is the household vacuum cleaner.

Wildly, Bob was somewhat afraid of the burrito because? The damn thing has been deep-fried? But in five minutes, it's gone. Even he's a little surprised.

I cannot BELIEVE you said one of your preferred snacks used to be combos. I used to love the pizza ones, but one way or another, I got a horribly expired bag of them and haven't been able to touch them since. It's been ten years, and the sight of the bag still makes me shiver 😭 My go-to's lean toward Smartfood white cheddar popcorn, Hershey's almond chocolate bars, and a Pepsi. I might grab a slim Jim if my options are limited, but the texture of those sometimes squick me out...

All three are scrambling to stop at every roadside attraction that they see. Rhett wants to see this little town they use to film old westerns. The Reader just found an absurd "world largest ___" attraction that they're now dying to see. Robby has been thinking about that historical diner for the past 27 miles. But they also want to stop in the town on their itinerary, and it's just so! Much! The trip winds up taking horribly long because they didn't anticipate finding so much to do.

The Western photos are a scheme hatched by Bob and Reader; Rhett hardly realizes he's been roped into it until the lady at the desk whips out a camera. "Really? Cowboys don't even dress like this🙄" but begrudgingly goes with it. He already looks the part, aside from the logo on his jacket.

And that's the exact reason why, on the way back, Rhett finally wins his argument on camping for a night. They already have half the setup, and nobody realized until midway through the trip that he packed the damn camping gear. It's only fair, considering he had to sit on a fake horse for one of those photos. They're practically set with all the snacks stored up in the back seat.

Rhett may not have slept well in the comfy, five-star hotel beds, but he's snug as a bug on the squeaky air mattress. He doesn't even need a pillow; his head is nestled on the Reader's belly, Bobby's playing with his hair, and he's gone.

He is also unwittingly involved in a second photoshoot. They manage to get about six different hats on him before he rolls over and away from the cameras 📸

For the most part I use Google’s image search to find items (though Pinterest and Ebay have similar programs that do the same kind of thing). I usually start with a good photo of the item I’m looking for, in this scenario I’m going to use tomorrow’s item as an example.

In this instance we’re looking for Lottie’s pink sweater (Top Left Image). I then click the camera icon and crop the image down to what I’m looking for (pink sweater).

The search will give me results and I look through them to find a similar item (bottom left image shows examples). In this instance, the sweater is really distinct and so it’s not that difficult to point out. The bottom right image shows that I’ve found it on ebay. From there I’d save the original image of Lottie wearing the sweater and a screen shot of the found item and crop them both to be square photos for my post. I’d copy down the found item name and add that underneath the photos on my post before putting it in my queue!

Sometimes items aren’t as easy to find (usually because I can’t find a good picture) and so I have to resort to typing out descriptions of the item. If I was doing that for Lottie’s sweater I’d probably say “pink houndstooth striped sweater” and hope it comes up in the results.

If it doesn’t I usually add what I call “mall stores” to the end of the search to help find it (so like Zara, Forever 21, Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, etc.) I’ve found that at least for the younger cast, items are mostly from stores like that and depending on what the item is, I can usually narrow it down based on the clothes these stores usually carry. What I like so much about the Wildreness wardrobes though is that because they needed multiples, pretty much all the clothes are modern and so I don’t have to look for vintage (which would make this whole thing significantly more time consuming). The older cast is a little harder to find stuff for because as a younger person I’ve usually never heard of the stores their stuff is from or I haven’t shopped there to know what they sell. I know some of the adults also wear vintage clothes and that can also make it harder to find an exact match (though they did use a lot of vintage in the Pilot for the pre-crash scenes apparently).

Some of the hardest items to find are usually flannels and striped shirts (which Yellowjackets has no lack of) due to the colors and patterns being difficult to pick up in the Google searches. Though, because they’re patterned they are usually easier for me to visually identify when I find them. Solid color items are harder because they could literally be from anywhere (this is why I have like no Travis finds). Plus, because I’m looking for items the costume department bought years ago, I’m usually at the whim of people reselling their old clothes online. Over all though, for some reason Adult Taissa’s clothes have been the easiest to find? I think it’s because they’re pretty much all designer and there’s more monetary value in reselling those rather than a forever 21 t-shirt you bought 2-3 years ago.

Besides my own finds I also repost other people’s finds or listings from sites like Spottern and Shopyourtv.com to help add to the content I publish on here. I find those posts to be good filler and helpful for me because it usually makes up for my lack of Adult Yellowjackets items.

In addition, I read/listen to interviews with people like the costume designer because they’re really insightful and usually provide inside information that can help me find items (or give me fun facts).

(Edit to say that Laura Lee is hands down the hardest person to find stuff for because all the clothes are modest and I kind of think the costume department didn’t get them from the stores everyone else got clothes from. Idk though but that’s just my thought.)
