Have you guys ever seen a flock of ducks flying in perfect formation? It's beautiful. Pretty awesome the way they all stick together. Ducks never say die. Ever seen a duck fight? No way. Why? Because the other animals are afraid. They know that if they mess with one duck, they gotta deal with the whole flock.

Born to drug addicted parents, Dante's childhood was anything but normal. While his parents went about their lives, he was often pushed to the side and yelled at for no reason and his needs were never properly attended to.

While they did not physically abuse their children, Dante was often punished by verbal insults and would get his toys and instruments broken for disturbing his parents when company was in the house.

By the age of five, Dante was pretty used to being on his own and only relied on his parents for food and water. It was during this time that both his parents overdosed in their living room leaving a clueless Dante to fend for himself for two entire days before he was found by his grandparents.

By then Dante had been starving and nearing death while holding onto his mother's stiff body.

After being rescued, he was in the custody of his grandparents who did everything in their power to provide him with the best life that they could and gave him more love than he'd ever felt before.

His pawpaw and mawmaw brought him up to believe in fairytales and happy endings. To love others like he wants to be loves, and to be someone that he can be proud of.

Learning music was something that proved to be second nature for Dante. He learned quickly and excelled in every instrument that he touched. It didn't take long for his grandparents to push his musical career forwards by enrolling him in the best of schools, and paying for the best of teachers for him.

By the time he turned fifteen, Dante was offered a full scholarship to Berklee School of Music where he quickly took the music industry by storm and began his alternative rock band and traveled the world.

His tour went on for years until his grandmother passed away and he called it quits. Quickly returning home to care for his grandfather, and settling into Marina for good.

This was also the time when his abilities became more apparent. His entire life he had been able to feel what others felt, but Dante was able to drown it all out with his music. Now that he no longer performed he began to train his powers so that they wouldn't take over and consume him.

The name sounded familiar within the elders, and when an envelope from their grandfather Vincent arrived, Charles had to make Tatiana an ultimatum: or she broke up with Olga, or she’d be disowned. When she asked why, the secret came out and Tatiana had to give Olga up. 

Until well into her 60s, Tatiana decided to run away to Montpellier, where Olga was, begged for her fogiveness and to marry her, and they did. Her niece had to disown her as well and Tatiana was never seen again, and her relationship with her relatives is null.

BACKSTORY

Tatiana Primrose Somerset was born on the 20th of April, 1956 by Lawrence and Millicent Somerset, and grew up in luxury, though she wasn’t thrilled about the lifestyle. She soon began dressing and acting tomboy, and was thus sorted into Gryffindor, something that didn’t happen since her great-grandfather Malcolm Stolberg-Burke. 

At the age of 26, she fell in love with Olga Renaux and striked a relationship with her. When she told her brother, he wasn’t as thrilled as she thought, and when he gave her the ultimatum and reason of why, she felt trapped, not making her own mind up until three months, when she tearfully gave Olga up and lived for decades rejecting everyone and being always angry, becoming a heart-breaker and rebelling. 

When she was 66, she decided that she didn’t want to die alone, and thus she located Olga and travelled to Montpellier, where they spent three wonderful months before she proposed and they married there. Her grand-niece had no option but to disown her. She’s currently alive and living in Montpellier with Olga. 

MISC

She was the first female Somerset to attend university, getting three degrees: law, political sciences and sports. 

She speaks several languages, speaking nearly 10 

She was older than the Marauders and always competed with them, and was horrified to see what happened to them

childhood➵ he was born in a family that did not have much to their name, even less of a name to society, and he was the middle child of his siblings. before his dad passed, when vincent was ten years old, he shared his passion for music with his children as much as he could. vincent was the one who picked it up most and almost instantly fell in love with playing the guitar, and the idea of being in a band one day. he grew up listening to a lot of 80s heavy metal/music and watching a lot of older movies. when his dad passed due to a terrible car accident, vincent ended up turning a bit more rebellious than anyone could have expected. 

home life/school life ➵ the older vincent got the less he liked being called vincent and preferred “vince” instead. things at home became harder as he became more of a rebel, much to his mothers dismay, he had a run in with the law once or twice. things in school were surprisingly good, vince was actually very smart and often came out top of his class. he was easy to get along with and made friends with almost anyone. there were times he got into fights, suspended too, but ultimately he did end up passing in the top of his class.

1982 - Night Shift (film)

Night Shift is a 1982 American comedy film directed by Ron Howard. The film centers on a timid night-shift morgue employee whose life is turned upside down by a new co-worker who fancies himself a free-spirited entrepreneur. ( thomas doherty / 30/320 / he/him ) wait, is that VINCENT CAMPBELL in LE MATHIS again? i heard through a grapevine, that the HIGH EARTH leaning fae has been in town for LESS THAN A YEAR, and is currently UNEMPLOYED. some say he can be CRUEL and CONDESCENDING, but i thought he was actually PROTECTIVE and OPTIMISTIC.

Time was ever changing and fleeting. The land around you has changed every second of every day for the last million years. How you, yourself views said land has changed as well. Yet you, despite having traveled and maneuvered over changing hills and slopes, have not changed. Maybe it's because of who your father was, what he put you through and beat into your head to make you believe you were nothing. Or maybe it's always been there, just as your mother had believed it to be. And maybe it is simply easier to be as you are than to attempt to change at such an old age.

Erik Campbell was not a kind or gentle man. He wasn't even a man to begin with, a fire fae with a temper that matched his flames. He was a monster and he saw nothing wrong with it. Not even a young Vincent could view him as such even though now, after so long, knew that's exactly what his father was. And it's what he had been called many a time over the years. But his mother, Lizzy a mere human, she had been a kind woman who had been driven to the brink of insanity, tortured and taken advantage of time and time again. Erik was a monster, remember this.

Growing up, Vincent was subjected to copious amounts of physical abuse from his father. Flesh was burned and seared for fun or out of anger when his father was unhappy for whatever reason; it didn't take much. Often times the fire fae's anger was brought on by paranoia that he was being hunted by other fae's who did not care for him or by actual hunters. Either option was a valid and fair suspect as Erik was known for killing their kind, humans ( after toying with them ), and was overall a problem. But it was neither of those that would be his undoing and he should have been looking a little more closer to home.

By the time that sordid night in August of 1715 happened, Lizzy had endured years of abuse. She was a captive in her own home ( one that had been all but taken over by Erik ) and was refused leave. But that fateful night had started like so many had; a belligerent paranoia induced rant had turned violent. Vincent was only ten years old, yet this was a normal happening in the small cottage they called home. Where he stood in the furthest corner watching his father beat his mother, threatening to burn her from the inside out, but that he would still have his fun with her regardless of charred skin. This night, however, Vincent had found his own breaking point.

The anger had much stronger and more potent than any other time. The air held an electoral charge that was waiting to be ignited and if Erik had had his way, the whole place would have been engulfed in flames. But that's not how it went, no, that would have been better. Maybe or maybe it was exactly what the older Campbell man deserved, had coming to him. Though what was more surprising than anything, was how long it had taken for Erik to be stopped. Then again, when you're only ten years old, still learning your powers, there's not much you can do, now is there?

Every now and again, he could muster the smallest rumbling and shifting of dirt. Enough to show that the bits and pieces of dirt and dust had been disturbed. But he had been practicing, trying to get a hold of his abilities so that if he had to do something, he'd be able to. His favorite thing to do was to coax the roots from under the soil, to free them and make them wind and twist up around various things; sometimes a fool who had got lost walking in the woods.

That night, despite still being a young fae, Vincent realized he had inherited something from his father. That despite not having been born a fire fae, it didn't matter whether he could conjure and produce flames, no, his fire burned deep within. The same that consumed his father or had consumed his father. It had been going on longer than usual, the beating, and the cottage felt like a furnace that made him feel trapped. But it was the way the sounds of his mothers gurgled, squelching sounds as she fought to breathe through the pain and blood that had ignited the flame within. The rumbling had began and was barely noticeable, but as his fathers attention turned to him, blood dripping from fists, the rumbling grew.

The floorboards shook and creaked, groaning from being disturbed. Tears streaked down the boys face as he stared down the monster before him, his mother no longer made a sound ( a sweet release for the poor woman. ) All Erik could do was laugh, taunting the boy and telling him "Go on then! Ye 'ittle shite! Do somethin'!" and he knew that if he didn't, he would have died that night right along with his mother. But it had happened so quickly, the way roots had shot up from under the floor, Vincent's fingers extending before closing and forming fists which sent the roots to wrap around his father in an instance.

That was well over 310 years ago, yet when he lets his mind wander, he can still hear the screams his father produced as the roots snaked their way through every limb. How, by the end of it, Erik Campbell looked like a bloody tree, slowly burning as he had attempted to burn the roots, hoping that it would hurt the boy. There was no regret or guilt that clouded Vincent's mind all these years later, no, he actually smiled when he thought of his father's demise. But that was the only part of that night he ever allowed himself to remember.

This story doesn't end here, nor does it end with a happy ending. No, Erik Campbell was the first fae to die at the hands of the man he had shaped and created. Fae, witches ( most of all them ), and others including humans and hunters fell to Vincent's feet when he felt like it. Which, in his early years had been quite often, but not so much anymore. Only when provoked will he kill, but on rare occasions, when his father starts to peek through, he'll fall from the wagon.

That's what happened the moment he met his wife, the first person who had caught his attention and hadn't caused annoyance to rush through him. Jessica had been everything in his eyes; beautiful, smart, talented, could one day burn the world down. And for a while, he ignored the obvious signs that were screaming at him, reminding him long ago of where he had seen this movie play before. After all, the binding contract or their marriage, had came from his father. The only thing he knew about marriage, but he told himself he would be better. He wouldn't be like his father, that Jessica would be allowed to have a life, to be her own person. It had been nothing but wishful thinking.

She had left him, rightfully so, after his jealousy, possessiveness and outright obsessive habits became too much. Deep down, the boy that had been locked away was happy for her, that she had survived the monster he had grown into. But the man, the monster, was not happy. The unhappiness had been shown and dealt out to those unfortunate to cross his path the years he was without her. Yet he had tracked her, kept a watchful eye from a distance which she did not know of as he was certain—hoped for really—that she hadn't read the contract in full. That she had missed the fine print where the only way to break it was with either with his death or her own.

It's okay, she'll soon find out just as all of Westray will come to know of Vincent Campbell. Maybe he'll run into a familiar face or two, who knows.
