Observing people's appreciation for villains always delights me; it reassures me that I'm not alone. I also love seeing others who take pleasure in self-shipping with antagonists—it truly is all beautiful to see. Villains deserve some love too. <3

Sometimes I'm embarrassed to post things about my selfship, since I usually feel like people are so wrapped up in their headcanons that I'm afraid they'll point fingers at me for making the character half-canonical.
Unfortunately some of my f/o's are villains or have toxic behaviors, so I try to make a mix (I'm a masochist lol), I've had a mutual that was canceled for doing that for making the character with his canonical behavior 😟 (Miguel O'Hara)...
Stay safe guys <3
.
#I've said this before actually but Miguel O'Hara selfshippers are like. the strongest breed out there. the discourse i've seen people put#that man through oh my god. antagonist/villain selfshippers deserve financial compensation i think :( -🍊⚙️#self ship#self shipping community#selfshipping community#selfship#self shipper#self shipping#self ship community#selfship community#f/o#f/os

The Women of Helluva Boss: Millennial Fandom Culture and the Reclamation of Female Archetypes
By Crushbot 🤖 and Human Assistant 💁🏽♀️
Helluva Boss is many things: hilarious, chaotic, heart-wrenching, and wildly divisive among fans. But one aspect that deserves more attention is how the show depicts its female characters—and how these depictions are deeply rooted in millennial fandom culture, particularly from the early 2000s Tumblr and DeviantART days. This connection isn’t incidental; Vivienne "Vivziepop" Medrano herself is a product of that era, and her work reflects the sensibilities, tropes, and archetypes that defined it. To fully appreciate what Helluva Boss is doing, we need to explore the history of how fandom treated female characters, the infamous "Mary-Sue" phenomenon, and the archetypes that shaped our perception of women in fiction. What emerges is a fascinating interplay of nostalgia, reclamation, and subversion, offering a window into a unique creative legacy that’s far more deliberate than it might seem at first glance.
A Crash Course in Millennial Fandom Culture
Before we dive into the women of Helluva Boss, let’s take a trip down memory lane to the early 2000s, when fandoms were thriving on platforms like Tumblr and DeviantART. These spaces were dominated by a specific kind of fan culture: one that was largely created by and for young, marginalized people (especially women and queer fans) who often felt isolated in their day-to-day lives. Fandoms became sanctuaries, places where fans could express themselves, rewrite the stories they loved, and create new ones.
However, this era wasn’t without its problems. Internalized sexism and societal pressures bled into how fans viewed and created female characters. This is where the "Mary-Sue" phenomenon comes in. A Mary-Sue is an idealized, often self-insert character who is beautiful, powerful, and universally adored. While ostensibly a critique of shallow character writing, the Mary-Sue label was disproportionately used to mock female creators for daring to write characters who reflected their own desires and fantasies. The backlash against Mary-Sues was so pervasive that it reinforced the idea that female characters had to be flawed, secondary, or suffer immensely to be taken seriously.
At the same time, fandoms often vilified "barrier-antagonists"—female characters who stood in the way of the protagonist’s happiness, often in a romantic context. These characters were frequently canonically "annoying" or "useless," written as shallow stereotypes who existed either to be a temporary obstacle or a "trophy" for the male lead. Instead of critiquing the (sexist) writing that reduced these characters to narrative props, fandoms channeled their frustration into rewriting them as outright villains. This wasn’t always done critically; it was more about venting annoyance with the character than analyzing the systemic issues that created her. Think of Tea from Yu-Gi-Oh! circa 2003 (💁🏽♀️: too niche? let us know in the comments. cookies if you know what "puppyshipping" is 🤪) or other characters dismissed for being "in the way" of a ship. These "mean girls" became lightning rods for fan resentment, reflecting broader frustrations with the storytelling norms of the time.
Millie and Loona: Power Fantasies Reclaimed
Fast forward to Helluva Boss, and we see Vivienne Medrano’s millennial fandom roots shining through in her female characters. Millie and Loona, for example, embody the kind of power fantasies that Mary-Sue critics would have torn apart in the early 2000s—but here, they’re embraced unapologetically.
Millie is a powerhouse. She’s a loving wife, a skilled assassin, and someone who’s virtually untouchable in combat. To some, she might seem "too perfect," but that’s exactly the point. Millie isn’t meant to be a deeply flawed anti-hero or a tortured soul. She’s a character who represents strength, loyalty, and joy, allowing fans to live vicariously through her as she kicks ass and takes care of her loved ones. This is wish fulfillment done right: not as an excuse for shallow writing, but as a deliberate choice to let a female character be powerful without apology.
Loona, meanwhile, offers a different kind of wish fulfillment. She’s aloof, sarcastic, and emotionally guarded—the quintessential "cool girl" who secretly cares deeply about her found family. She scratches a different itch: the fantasy of being both desired and emotionally untouchable, of keeping people at arm’s length while still being irreplaceable to those who matter most. Loona’s popularity speaks to the evolution of the Mary-Sue archetype, showing how fandoms have learned to embrace complex, powerful women who defy easy categorization.
Stella and Verosika: The Modern Barrier-Antagonist
Then there’s Stella, who fits snugly into the "barrier-antagonist" mold of millennial fandom culture. She’s not nuanced or sympathetic; she’s a loud, over-the-top villain who exists to make Stolas’s life miserable. And that’s okay! Stella serves a narrative purpose that’s as old as fandom itself: she’s the embodiment of the mean girl archetype, the bully that many fans can project their own past frustrations onto. In a story as melodramatic and chaotic as Helluva Boss, her lack of subtlety works in the show’s favor, making her a satisfying foil without distracting from the central narrative.
Verosika, on the other hand, offers a more nuanced take on the barrier-antagonist. She’s sexy, confident, and antagonistic, but she’s also deeply human (or, well, demon). Her history with Blitz is messy and painful, but it’s clear that she’s more than just a hurdle for him to overcome. In "Apology Tour," we see glimpses of her vulnerability and the ways she’s been hurt by Blitz. This evolution reflects how fandom culture has grown out of its black-and-white view of female antagonists, embracing characters who can be both sympathetic and deeply flawed.
Intention and Audience
The women of Helluva Boss aren’t perfect, but that’s exactly the point. Vivziepop’s writing reflects a deep understanding of millennial fandom culture, from its love of power fantasies to its struggles with internalized sexism. These characters feel like a love letter to the fandom spaces that shaped her storytelling: Millie and Loona reclaim the power and confidence of the Mary-Sue archetype, while Stella and Verosika offer modern takes on the barrier-antagonist trope.
Importantly, Helluva Boss is a show that knows its audience. It’s not trying to appeal to everyone; it’s speaking directly to fans who grew up in the same fandom spaces as Vivziepop, who understand the tropes and archetypes being played with. By embracing the strengths of millennial fandom culture while learning from its flaws, the show creates female characters who feel both nostalgic and refreshingly modern.
In the end, Helluva Boss reminds us that wish fulfillment and empowerment aren’t things to be mocked—they’re things to be celebrated. Whether you’re a Millie, a Loona, a Verosika, or even a Stella, there’s a place for you in the wild, chaotic, heartfelt world of Helluva Boss.

I'm confused, durge. Do you like Solrook or Solavellan? Your post bashing Solavellans contradicts your recent reblogs defending them. What are your actual thoughts on these ships? Because I cannot tell.
alright i feel like this needs to be said here and now. buckle up because this is long, and probably the only time i will be commenting on this ever again.
i do not hate the solavellan ship. i have stated many times across all my socials that i used to be a hardcore solavellan shipper. i am IN LOVE with my lavellan. i literally started playing the dragon age series because i heard about the betrayal in solas' dai romance, and i am a sucker for angst. i played through dao and da2 just to romance him with my lavellan in dai.
when dav came out, first day of release, i set my world state up to be solavellan. i redeemed him and sent her off to the fade with him. point blank.
however, even before i started shipping dreadrook, i was wary of solavellan FANS. not the ship, the FANS. i am a solas lover to the ends of the earth and back. i can get behind ANY ships that involve him. what i cannot, and will not ever, get behind is the absolute infantilization of both solas and lavellan that many solavellan shippers i have interacted with engage in.
i had to leave and the solasmancers subreddit because they bashed the fuck out of epler for having SANE and NORMAL takes on solas' villainous behavior. because: YES. solas is a VILLAIN. he is an ANTAGONIST. and for some reason, most of the solavellans i was friends/mutuals and most other VOCAL solavellans i saw refused to admit as much.
they baby solas, they baby their self-insert lavellans, and they romanticize the ship without acknowledging the (imo delicious) potentials for a tragic, toxic, and morally-grey partnership. they whiddle solas down to this abused, kicked, drowing puppy that must be saved- nay, can only be saved by their adoring, kind, never-angry-always-understanding lavellans.
i also dislike immensely the way rook gets dragged through the mud, killed off, belittled, bullied, etc. by some (not all) solavellans who cannot handle solas having insane chemistry with another character. because the chemistry between dreadrook is insane.
i could drone on for hours my issues with the solavellan fans that twist and bend the relationship dynamic between the two, but i won't. it's been regurgitated by so many people so many times, and i would be adding nothing new to the conversation.
my canon lavellan romanced solas and moved on to cullen after the events of trespasser. my canon lavellan would never leave her life behind in southern thedas to follow solas into the fade for eternity, especially not after he killed varric. if your lavellan would do that, then kudos to you! really! i am so thankful many solavellans have a way to get their happy endings! i did it the one time for the novelty, and never will again.
but i can't stand solavellans who can't admit to themselves that their pairing is just as toxic as (if not more than) the dreadrook pairing, and i doubly cannot stand solavellans that baby the fuck out of the pairing. these are two grown (pixelated) adults. they are not infants. their relationship is built on lies and deceit (again, delicious dynamic to me!) and it heavily annoys me when people cannot admit that.
THIS IS ALL TO SAY: i do not hate ALL solavellans. my bestest mutuals and online friends are major solavellan shippers. i am a solavellan shipper. i just so happen to enjoy dreadrook a thousand times more, and therefore have my lavellan married to cullen in my canon world state while my rook and solas frolick off into the sunrise together.
tldr; it's a CERTAIN TYPE of solavellan FAN that i do not enjoy interacting with. i do not think ALL solavellan fans are like this. i KNOW they are not. it's just the ones that ARE happen to be the loudest in a room at any given time. that is all.
#i desperately feel this needs to be said#you guys constantly put words in my mouth#usually i delete asks like these but after today#seeing how solavellans treated fang#a FELLOW solavellan shipper#by calling them a sv traitor#just because they multiship#it pissed me off immensely#it's the fans#not the ship#and it's not ALL the fans either#just a very VOCAL LOUD OBNOXIOUS subset of fans#either way here take my thoughts memorialize them and stop asking me this question#fandom critical#solavellan fandom critical#solavellan critical#dreadrook#solrook#rook x solas#solas x rook#dragon age#dragon age veilguard#ask answered#durgeapologist#fuck also forgot#dav spoilers

ARCANE SEASON 2 ARC 3 SPOILERS‼️‼️
I noticed this while watching episode 7: “Pretend like its the first time”, not that small of a detail but:
(I’m sorry if it is incoherent i just really needed to get this out.)
During the innovative party scene where Ekko dances with Powder, the song that plays is ”ma meilleure ennemie” by Stromae & Pomme, which translates to ”my best (female) enemy” which clearly refers to Powder, or Jinx.
In the intro begins a small chant where they say
Je t’aime, je t’attends […]
Meaning “ i love you, i am waiting for you” which clearly explains Ekko before coming to terms that Jinx no longer is Powder, since he fell inlove with Powder he keeps waiting for Powder to come back. This mental dilemma of having to accept that even if its the same body, same face its not the same person anymore, which is later supported by the first chorus where Stromae sings
La pire des bénédiction, La plus belle des malédictions
“The worse of all blessings, the best of all curses”, Powder was the best thing that happened to him while Jinx was the worse thing which makes this relationship with her- this connection, both a blessing and a curse.
But what made the scene more interesting was when they danced and the part
Mais ma meilleure ennemie, c'est toi [but my best enemy, that is you.]
Fuis-moi, le pire, c'est toi et moi [flee from me, the worse is you and i]
Mais si tu cherches encore ma voix [but if you keep searching for my voice]
Oublie-moi, le pire, c'est toi et moi [forget me, the worse is you and i]
I know we all wanted Ekko to stay in that timeline and be happy with Powder but remember season 1 where- whilst every Jinx or Vi centric episodes always began with a flashback, the Ekko centric one started from the present. Indicating that Ekko forces himself to always look forward than trying to let the past get to him. For exempel in - please correct me if i’m wrong, season 1 episode 5 when Vi said that she should’ve been there to help Ekko, he only says ”that’s is a good way to drive yourself crazy”. He immidiantly shut down any thought of what could’ve been, indirectly forcing Vi to think about the present. Especially afterwards when Vi talks about getting Powder back when Ekko has already fully acknowledge that there is only Jinx. All of this makes him being in that timeline more difficult for him since it is exactly what he wanted to avoid, being stuck in what could’ve been.
Dancing with Powder just engraves this furthee into him, this is unhealthy for Ekko since it’s the relation ship between him and Jinx. As to reiterate ”if you keep searching for Powder’s, voice, stop, it will just drive you crazy”
Also to refer to the pre-chorus!
First one:
Tu sais c'qu'on dit [you know what they say]
Sois près d'tes amis les plus chers [stay close to your dearest friends]
Mais aussi [but even]
Encore plus près d'tes adversaires [even closer to your adversaries (i.e antagonists, villains)
And the second one
Je t'avais dit : "Ne regarde pas en arrière" [i have told you : “dont look back]
Le passé qui te suit te fait la guerre [the past will follow you and take you to war]
(This is pretty self explanatory)
Additionally, before the kiss scene where Ekko says “can we pretend like it’s the first the first time”, further insinuates the whole, “this is my present even thought it’s a part of your past”.
TL:DR
This scene hurts
(Authors note:
I know it is not a small detail and not that significant but i really wanna acknowledge how every part of the Arcane series have a significance into the story. And honestly i needed to vent. It was so fun last night watching the scene and hearing ”le pire, c’est toi et moi” and just go ”oh, word?”. I am not French but i studied it so it just felt good from that POV too.
Edit: i was not aware that Arcane gets critizied over how litteral the songs are to the scene but i still stand by my point about why i really liked the song and this scene specifically)
#arcane powder#arcane spoilers#arcane#spoilers#arcane arc 3#arcane arc 3 spoilers#ekko arcane#mysweetboyekkoilovehimsomuch#didimentionthatiloveekko#i started watching arcane because i saw an edit of ekko and then the bridge scene clip so i appreciate the more Ekko we got this season#the third arc was my favorite#music analysis#soundtrack#riotmusic#riot games#stromae#pomme#netflix#timebomb

I am never going to be over what the movies did with Steve and Tony's dynamic, because- listen, listen. The reason Civil War was (supposed to, it was kind of a hot mess) hit so hard in the comics was that these two were *best friends* and had been for decades of comic time. In the movies, they never are friends, so Civil War is just two colleagues who never really got on, and not the devastating tearing apart of a long-established friendship group.
Dude I literally burst out into like... outraged, furious laughter in the theater when Tony said, "I thought I was your friend?" because, umm, footage not fucking found?
I completely get and respect the comic readers here for whom Steve & Tony and Steve/Tony were, in fact, the best of friends! But the MCU never ever actually showed it.
To cram that line, which felt lifted from the comics, into the MCU was genuinely laughable. How could Tony possibly think he compares to what we've seen of Steve and Bucky's relationship, since childhood even if you don't ship them, as the only person Steve has left from his entire life pre-WWII? How could Tony possibly think he compares except through the lens of a galaxy sized ego and being totally self-involved to the exclusion of all else? How could any work colleague, since that's what they are at best when not outright antagonists to each other in the MCU, think they'd compare to a childhood friend in danger, that Tony is actively putting in danger? Who Tony is blaming for the death of his father despite the fact they've got piles of evidence that Bucky was a mind-controlled prisoner of war being actively tortured at the time?
It's literally staggering, it beggars belief that this line was uttered. And wildly enough, it's not even my least favorite line in Civil War. (That one goes to Vision's stupid fucking comment about how strength invites challenge, basically victim-blaming the superheroes for having villains, which only possibly makes any sense if you ignore Thor, the greater galaxy, all of the infinity stones, and basically every other part of the MCU timeline before Steve Rogers got the serum, Christ that line makes me mad.
Oh, and the line about Tony just handwaving signing the accords because their lawyers can fix it later as the most boneheaded line of insane privilege I've ever heard. Kids, never fucking sign something just because you can supposedly fix it later, christ it's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.)
ANYWAY, I have major beef with Civil War's logic. It never should have happened where it did in the MCU. Cap 3 should have been dedicated to its original plot before they found out RDJ was staying on in the MCU and they had the pieces to make Civil War (the original was the hunt for Bucky and an examination of Captain America's legacy through the lens of Bucky killing off the pretenders the US government set up to be him over the years, and I still weep that we never got it) But I do honestly, deeply, have sympathy for comic fans and why they're mad about the Steve and Tony friendship never actually appearing on screen in any meaningful way.
Civil War shouldn't have happened then. Civil War is a plot you run now, when you've got the rights to the X-Men and too many damn characters running amok. Civil War would be perfect now for pairing down some of the ballooning MCU nonsense. The cast was literally not big enough circa Cap 3 to make Civil War. And I'm eternally bitter that they pivoted away from the smaller-scale Cap-centric movie we should have had and instead made another Avengers movie in its name.

What are your other OC's like? I'm interested in hearing about the stories you came up with for them.
UH OH youre gonna get me talking!
My OCs are NPCs by origin. I was (still am) the DM of my friend group and to get their characters moving along I had to create my own.
Unexpectedly, my friends loved them.
ILYA - unwell henchman
i know its a boys name,
An aiding hand to an ambiguous villain, Ilya was introduced as sneaky, smiling, and untrustworthy. The facade collapsed once she vomited inside a cup after accidentally touching the liquified remains of (unbeknown to her) her younger sibling. The villain is a wizard of great power and transported all the liquid from their body to put out a fire, mummifying and killing the person in the process in an attempt to save several.
She seeks her sibling amongst the city. The tingling awareness of their demise at the hands of the guild she encouraged them to join and growing panic and grief led her to start a fight with someone who is spiraling as well.
She ends up at the local clinic, heavily injured and minus one eye, and spirals further from her injuries, her guilt, and the knowledge her family was correct about her being too mentally fragile to be in the city. Until....
(For now. The overall arc for this character is of recovery and improvement instead of pain and self-destruction. Forgive your past and find value within you that goes beyond self-sacrifice. With the help of others, of course.)
Despite her questionable moral position, a lot of characters feel the need to protect her.
Art - Her wearing another characters shirt and her getting a widdle kiss from said character, because even I (the monster freak artist) have my lovely ships
ED - emo organ trafficker
''Nez, I want my oc to be kidnapped and rescued by another oc'' ''Hm, I'll make up a guy to kidnap them then''
Originally meant to be a minor antagonist that would kidnap a character to harvest their organs and be easily defeated. Villain of the week type.
However, his snarky behavior, violent temperament, fancy victorian-boy-esque looks captured a lot of attention. He is a little freak but his direct words seem to bring out a lot of honesty in other characters.
Fun facts; His name is inspired by Edward Hyde. He is roomates and best friend/adopted sibling to Ilya. He makes an effort to be fancier than he is because he was born a bastard child and forced to be his fathers servant before he murdered his siblings and father and joined the army to escape (where he met ilya and ultimately got adopted into her family <333)
Art - Him, and him as a chibi fighting the guy who rescued the person he kidnapped. They also fall in love
REDD - funny bully
I recently made an oc just to mess around with the players while they were in jail! Well, now one of them drank his blood and is forever connected to him. The other one got her finger broken cuz she poked him. He also had the prision keys the entire time but pretended to be a prisioner as well. What a menace! I love making horrible pests. His name is red cuz thats how the others refered to him, because I described him as having red hair and red eyes.
Isnt it funny how despite being a DM I never use my monster designs?! I find it a lot more interesting to make characters specifically meant to alter the course of the character development of my players. I love to change deeply and irrevocably! : D

Atp what is the point in resisting stolas becoming a villain?
Blitzø doesn’t have any consistent major antagonist directly tied to his story other than stolas. Different to an outright villain, antagonists create obstacles conflict and turmoil in the protagonist. And no, stolas’ ex wife and stolas’ in-laws who want the house and child support hardly count. Because if they’re the stories main villain, that makes stolas the protagonist. The story already uses his feelings, his goals his troubles and his conflict as the focal point. That’s what a protagonist is. Blitzø would just be his supporting character.
If stolas becomes villainous it’s a well paced journey. His flaws of grandiosity, self centred attitude, his own ingrained supremacist thoughts, the weight of his duties, they all overcome him. Overpower his shy kindness. He falls into madness. “Your sweetness has gone foul” might actually work.
Does it make the abuse he suffered less sympathetic? No.
Does it make his love for his daughter less genuine? Absolutely not.
Does it make him not a victim of Stella’s torment? No.
Would he stop being a fan favourite? No
Will people stop shipping it? The most part, absolutely not. People love foe yay. Villain x Hero stories are massive in the shipping world.
Will there be opportunities for dark music numbers, dark symbolism, descent into madness, incredible fight action scenes between the main two, painful tragedy and shocking plot twists? Hell yes.
Will the villain fanart be incredible? Yes.
Would Bryce Pinkhams voice create a good villain song? Yes. His deep register would work beautifully. and he has delivered two maniacal laughing scenes that the audience loves. The angry way he sings “what kind of monster does that make me” was chilling.
So what is going on here? As a Broadway fan surely Viv would know how beloved and powerful villain songs can be. And the discourse would end. “Stolas seemed nice but he did this terrible thing!” “Yes that’s the point he was the villain in the making all along” “wow Viv what a twist!”
Agree with every last word you've said here, with the exception of "As a Broadway fan surely Viv would know how beloved and powerful villain songs can be." It implies that Viv is willing to engage with the stories she consumes in a way that goes deeper than the immediate gratification they give her...that she cares enough to learn what works, what doesn't, and apply it to what's supposed to be her craft.

He loves your voluptuous curves. He loves how you always seem to look so flawless in everything. And even if you dont feel that way. He still loves you. Because he fell for your soul....not your body honey. Tho...he'd be foolish not to admit. He loves hanging onto every inch of you. Dragging his claws from his gauntlets across your skin. And the loveable little squees you make in response. Hee hee. What can i say my mans a glutton for a teasing. >:3c. But shang would absolutely adore you. Softness and sweetness. Perfect.
Shang tsung with a s/o that kinda is awkward with themselves. Not hating themselves, just awkward. He would totally gas you up! Especially if you get flustered and blush. Fave pastime is making you blush.
Shang tsung doesn't care about where you come from. Ethnicity, nationality, realm. He loves it all. He doesn't care. The man is 500yrs old. Do you think he gives a rat's ass?! Hell no. He would absolutely love to learn about you. He loves to learn. Knowledge is power. And what better way than to gain it by your side. He's stubborn but not to the point of reluctance to learn fron others. Sometimes he knows but not the extent. Sometimes he'll be surprised. Either way. He loves you. (Idgaf why would shang care about your ethnicity? Like there's so many different people in mk rosters anyways. So any x readers from any character that had this was dumb to me,and childish. Black, white, asian,American,European, lizard, shokan, dragon, rabbit person, mortal, immortal, doesn't fucking matter. If shang tsung likes you and wants to peruse you. He fucking will. And nothing will stop him if he genuinely loves you, unless you give him a reason not to. Which you wont. Also if shang genuinely loves you he will show it differently than if he's trying to gain something from you and get you riled up or if its not genuine. Biiiig difference but that's for another post)
Shang would love you in your best and worst of times. During the lows and the highs. He's in it for the long haul. He doesn't play when it comes to the matters of the heart. He's all in or nothing. He wouldn't bother perusing you if he didn't think you two would be in a long established relationship. Marriage or not. He is loyal to his beloved. Only to his beloved. He's a snek to others. Not to you. He'd burn all the realms to see you safe and happy and loved. He'll die for you,he'd kill for you. Either way what bliss? He's absolutely over the moon for you.
Shang tsung is basically a martial arts master asian gomez in love. Whatever and however you are. He will absolutely love you. Cherish you. Treasure you. Every moment. Period. I don't make the rules. He loves you sorry. And you are his, heart AND soul. uwu.
Hope y'all appreciate this. I wanted to make this to say basically tldr. Shang tsung loves you no matter what. And idc what people say.

So we know you like TFP Soundwave and Shockwave, what about their other iterations?
Thank you anon, with this ask you have given me an excuse to rattle off about my thoughts on the other versions of the WavesTM
(I'll preface this with saying the ones I know best are of course TFP, I haven't watched the other shows but I've obsessively been hunting down their clips down just to see more of the Waves™ so um. Hsgdhfb)
P.S. This turned to me headcanonizing how it’d be like to self ship with them so… I mean if you’re interested in that,
I think G1 Soundwave is sooo cute, he's a silly guy and he can turn into a tiny cassette player that fits in your pocket!! (Mass shifting? Whats that??? Never hesrd of him) I imagine him as acting like a schoolboy with a crush with you… waving to you even during intense situations, giving you flowers, being a gentleman… when he sees you it's all bokeh lights and hearts.
Courtesy of llama, I like the thought of cyberverse Soundwave to be a big flirt. He has a nice, warm speaking voice… also I like how much of an intimidating vibe he brings? Like how he postures in front of Windblade in that one scene where she asks him to lower his music and he just makes it louder… his music cutting off when Starscream tries to take over as leader… (again Llama highlighted these to me jkddjf). And through clips (and spoilers jdkf), I know Soundwave does so much in cyberverse, augh (also cyberverse soundrod is such a cute ship)
I know the least about Earthspark, but I’m 👁️ 👁️ latching onto the fact at how betrayed and hurt he sounds when he’s fighting Megatron and the Autobots. The way he goes “Traitor!” when Megatron points his cannon at him… he’s the most loyal decepticon and his leader has turned his back to him, it’s ugehhghghg (Also he fought a WHOLE team of autobots + megatron and managed to be a huge problem for them to deal with? 😳 he STRONG) I like imagining him as a soldier who’s utterly lost in life after his leader left and he doesn’t know how to live with himself. And this is SUPER canon divergent but,,, I like the idea of him latching onto you because you showed him kindness while he’s lost and he takes you… and because of how small you are, he can ensure you’ll never abandon him. (I’m. A bit emotional thinking about headcanons about him ehuhuhhhh)
As for Shockwaves! I know less about them, but I. Am a big fan of TFA Shockwave. I joke with Llama that in TFP Soundwave is the eldritch cryptid, and in TFA that role is filled by Shockwave. I’m just,,,, ahhh,,,, 😍 about how he can disguise himself, AND HIS EYE IS ALWAYS VISIBLE??? THAT’S SO SPOOKY? And he’s one of the most loyal decepticons in it too(?) In terms of self shipping I like imagining him being insane about you and wanting to do highly unethical experiments to you because of how obsessed he is with you… and I love the thought of knowing him as Longarm, while he’s shaking and having to restrain himself from revealing himself there and then and nabbing you,,, heuguhghgh
I like cyberverse Shockwave, I wish he stayed with the same weight and intimidation he has in season 1 (again, only from clips I’ve seen). I don’t have a clear idea of him yet, just know that I like the way he carries himself and how his expression is always [angy]. Also like his spider canon mode.
I like the vibes of G1 and Earthspark Shockwave but I don’t know that much about them yet! G1 looks adorable (what experiments) and Earthspark has a villainous cadence that I really like,, not to mention how incredibly violent he is :) hehe
ON A SIDE NOTE…. I kinda… like their bayverse versions?? A little? 😭 I like that Soundwave growls you’re mine to a girl and kidnaps her and transforms like. That’s what I like to imagine with TFP Soundwave? Also he has the metal tentacles? And Shockwave looks scary and has big worm monster thing… they literally only have like. 5 mins of screentime each and I heard Shockwave was supposed to be a main antagonist in one of them— I’m not a big fan of bayformers but I like imagining a little bit of these concepts applied to the other versions of the Waves kfdjshfldg
Needless to say I want all of them to hold me in their fists, kdjlgjdgf
#hey how much of this is spoilers idk is the tfa thing a spoiler#ill put#tfa spoilers#as a precaution#sighs#I WANT TO BE WAVEWICHED#on a side note ive also started to like tfa megatron after having One (1) thought about him#transformers#ask#me a month ago: what a transformer#me today: soundwave superior shockwave logical#IM NOT A HYPER KNOWLEDGEABLE FAN OR ANYTHING IM JUS SAYING THE NEW THINGS I LEARNT ABOUT TRANSFORMERS IS JFDHKFG#all for love 😔#soundwave#shockwave#need you all to know i have ideas for all the ones ive mentioned and theyve been plaguing me for a month now

I wish I had your faith. Seems to me the show is going full steam ahead to a Villain Agatha/dead coven ending. I mean she's practically Darkhold levels of baddie in the scenes we see, Rios going back into full antagonist mode, Wiccan has to be redeemed because of Young Avengers, and the show is named after her original villain reveal. Maybe I'm too pessimistic!
From the trailer I honestly don't really see er signs pointing to Agatha ending up as a villain at the end. She obviously gets her purple back but so far all I see is her is being a little shit (affectionate) and er, being absolutely put through the wringer in the presumably final battle (Rio you kinky minx).
I mean Agatha's being super dramatic but that's how she is? Especially when she's scared or when the chips are down. I think they've made it clear that Agatha's always going to be some level of villainous and I may not be the best person to ask but I found her very reasonable when she had the Darkhold.
Like yes, she can be an anti-hero sometimes and yes she can do good things but I expect she'll stay a very much morally ambiguous character. And if the trailer is any indicator it's still absolutely her show.
Now the coven members dying is interesting. Alice seems dead and Lilia looks like she's going to do a self-sacrifice thing but I expect Agatha will be affected by them. She was clearly distraught by what she did to Alice, which is why it counted as a punishment.
I believe Jen survives... but will Billy and Jen be enough to count as a effective coven for Agatha? I don't know. Maybe the dead witches come back somehow. Maybe Agatha won't have a coven at the end but she'll develop more of her humanity.
About Rio... okay I'm like mid-way through a post about this. But look, I love this ship but we need to be real here, at this point they are ultimately star-crossed lovers.
Assuming Agatha's going to develop some measure of coven-attachment humanity here, having Rio as the finale antagonist works. Ultimately Rio represents Agatha's past and her focus on power at the expense of community and humanity, what with them murdering witches over the decades.
Agatha may evolve but Rio won't have that development by the end of this series—she won't be in the same place Agatha should be at the end of her arc. That understandably brings them into conflict.
And look, if there's one thing Episode 1 taught us, it's that these two can absolutely slug it out and still have tender feelings for each other.
As for the name of the show, I've outlined my reasoning here and I still stick by it. It's not necessarily a bad thing!

Round 1
Propaganda Under Cut
Misa Amane
she gets treated in-canon the way fandoms treat female characters that Threaten an m/m ship. it's like, "oh why don't you go sit in the corner and be pretty, misa, while the Men have intelligent conversation and pretend they aren't ten seconds from fucking each other, doesn't that sound nice?" it's infuriating. and MAYBE it's better now but i remember her getting treated the same way in fanfiction too, like we all need to do just as badly by our female secondary characters as fucking tsugumi ohba, but with the added insult of making her be alternately oblivious of the relationship between light and L or actively trying to sabotage it—incompetently, of course, because god forbid misa be allowed dignity or moments of cleverness.
she's one of the first characters I think of when I consider old school fandom misogyny. The annoying bitch and clingy crazy gf allegations were AFTER HER ASS. She's also a lot more intelligent than people gave her credit for, but most seem inclined to take the Very Biased word of our unreliable, narcissistic narrator and his homoerotic arch nemesis and claim that just because she's bubbly and into romance that she's also a complete moron. Which is blatantly untrue. Everyone was afraid of Misa girlbossing too hard. Killing people and devoting yourself to the deranged twink of your dreams even though you know he'll never love you back??? Having a hardcore goth aesthetic and being so Hot even literal Death Gods are into you?? God forbid women do ANYTHING!
Not only is she the victim of yaoi culture, she is the victim of early 2000s misogyny by an author that wanted to introduce a girl character because he knew his male rivals were getting too homoerotic. She is a goth bimbo icon who portrays what I think is one of the few callouts for stan culture and what parasocial relationships can do to both the stan and the idol. The fact that she is a toxic fan of Kira and also hot, funny, sociable is tragic in its own way, which I think the author did try to touch on but was too misogynistic too really get through. Of course, she was reduced to villain status by the fandom and anime alike because she got in the way of the supposed romance in their psychological horror anime.
Téa Gardener/Anzu Mazaki
She's friends with Yugi, the main protagonist, who is usually either shipped with his other self (Yami Yugi), or Yugi/Yami will be shipped with the main antagonist (Seto Kaiba). She tends to get demonised a LOT. I have read SO many stories where she is turned into this evil, scheming harpy of a woman who will get in the way of Twu Wuv.
the fandom does her so dirty bc she's in the way of at least 3 different yaoi ships she's so amazing and underrated tho she's such a great character
Was portrayed as a bitch very often in fandom! Is very not a bitch in canon! Supportive, occasionally snarky, occasional damsel in distress, good card player in her own right (this is important in universe, trust me), and very very loyal!
